5. 0:24was a sole survivor of a mid-air
6. 0:26explosion of a jetliner over
7. 0:29Czechoslovakia in 1972 Czechoslovakia
8. 0:33there we go so this is going to be a
9. 0:36story of survival and it's gonna be a
10. 0:44story of celebrity it's gonna be a story
11. 0:49of scandal and then it's going to kind
12. 0:57of end in a whimper this is a little bit
13. 1:02of a fail on a couple of levels oh man
14. 1:05can't be a fail unless they have a win
15. 1:10at some point right yeah yeah you can't

23. 1:30scheduled but due to a clerical error
24. 1:32she was on board working on January 26
25. 1:351972 and about an hour into the flight I
26. 1:38think maybe 46 minutes I've seen a
27. 1:40couple of different times but it's about
28. 1:41an hour to the flight a briefcase bomb

39. 2:11yes she was not but it's like a the way

45. 2:24and the plane crashed the only thing
46. 2:29that saved vesna vulovic was she was
47. 2:32wedged in by a food cart
48. 2:35as it plummeted towards earth and there
49. 2:38was snow on the mountains so that patted

51. 2:45the fall but she fell 33,000 feet and
52. 2:51just the relief of hitting a snow-capped
53. 2:53mountain wedged next to like a diet coke

56. 3:05discovered her and actually had been a
57. 3:07medic during World War two so was able
58. 3:09to stabilize her until that's if anyone
59. 3:13were to find me after a crash that I
60. 3:15wasn't on a plane I wasn't supposed to
61. 3:16be on can it be a world war two medic

117. 5:41believed her low blood pressure kept her

126. 6:04flight and didn't remember anything else
127. 6:07until she saw her parents and she came
128. 6:09into the hospital room so she became
129. 6:11somewhat of a celebrity yeah I mean this
130. 6:14is kind of the best scenario to have
131. 6:16this horrific traumatic you know hugely
132. 6:20violent thing happen you to just not
133. 6:22remember to be in the hospital to be
134. 6:25rescued but all you could see are
135. 6:27pictures of the plane and which exists
136. 6:30so it's probably pretty traumatizing
137. 6:33so she was a celebrity and a hero in
138. 6:36Yugoslavia she also became a bit of an
139. 6:40outspoken kind of political dissident
140. 6:44kind of speaking out against the in
141. 6:46justices of the government that's which
142. 6:48they love yeah it's they really really
143. 6:53they love it you know she spoke out
144. 6:57against the Serbian government but they
145. 6:59really couldn't do anything because she
146. 7:02was a hero she was you know she I don't
147. 7:05know if you've seen the movie

152. 7:15crash and he's the only one to survive

157. 7:28participated in anti-government protest
158. 7:31but she avoided arrest due to her
159. 7:33celebrity status and this is where a
160. 7:35little fail comes in there was smear
161. 7:38campaigns that were result challenging
162. 7:40the narrative of her survival aka why it
163. 7:43happened and how far she fell know she
164. 7:46doesn't remember yeah so it's not really
165. 7:48for her to be like counting the feet as

167. 7:53this woman is a survivor she's gone
168. 7:55through so much trauma really you're
169. 7:57gonna haggle about a couple thousand

171. 8:01there were some journalists in Prague in
172. 8:062009 that challenged the account they
173. 8:09came to the conclusion that a dc9 was
174. 8:12mistakenly shot down by the Czech Air
175. 8:16Force at an altitude of only 800 meters
176. 8:18or 2625 feet and claims was a
177. 8:21fabrication by communist authorities to
178. 8:24cover up a mistake so they shot down
179. 8:26their own plane and they said no it was
180. 8:28a briefcase bomb by some nationalists
181. 8:31and it was only 2,600 feet
182. 8:35regardless it's still an insane story of
183. 8:41survival crazy and according to the
184. 8:44Guardian a spokesperson for
185. 8:46Guinness World Records told German paper
186. 8:49Taz it seems at the time Guinness was
187. 8:52duped by this swindle just like the rest
188. 8:54of the media Wow
189. 8:56and vesna vulovic really didn't know any
190. 8:59better and she wasn't it's not like she
191. 9:03they were like hey listen was only you
192. 9:04only survived
193. 9:05you were only the lone survivor of a
194. 9:07plane crash there's only like less than
195. 9:083,000 feet and she's like okay we're
196. 9:10gonna say it's 33,000 I'm gonna really
197. 9:12pull one over on them married got
198. 9:15divorced had some PTSD survivor's guilt
199. 9:18it was tough as anyone could imagine

202. 9:25that way it helps it helps definitely

205. 9:32her three cats and died in 2016 at age
