2. 0:04who has spent more than half of his life
3. 0:06in prison is officially a free man this
4. 0:10afternoon you might see a crowd of
5. 0:11people gathered here outside of the Erie
6. 0:14County Courthouse these are family and
7. 0:16friends of Valentino Dixon waiting to
8. 0:19see him embrace him speak with him for
9. 0:21the first time in decades as he becomes
10. 0:24a free man he's being processed right
11. 0:26now we are expecting to capture this was
12. 0:30expected to be an emotional reunion just
13. 0:31minutes away now for years Valentino
14. 0:35Dixon said he was convicted of a crime
15. 0:37that he did not commit so at a hearing
16. 0:39this morning Lamarr Scott who is serving
17. 0:42a 25 to 50 year prison term for an
18. 0:44unrelated shooting admitted to the
19. 0:47murder that Dixon had been convicted of
20. 0:49Dixon of course had been serving 39
21. 0:52years to life in prison for the 1991
22. 0:55murder of toreano Jackson this happened
23. 0:58on the corner of Bailey and East Delavan
24. 1:01Jackson's brother and another man who is
25. 1:03now dead were also hurt early that
26. 1:06morning now at his hearing this morning
27. 1:09we learned prosecutors struck a plea
28. 1:11deal with excuse me with Lamar Scott
29. 1:13Scott of course has confessed to
30. 1:15shooting Jackson at least 10 times over
31. 1:18the course of the 27 years he's been in
32. 1:20prison so today he was charged with
33. 1:23manslaughter and two counts of assault
34. 1:25this will tack on an additional eight
35. 1:27and 1/3 to 25 years to his prison
36. 1:31sentence this all was a part of a
37. 1:33year-long investigation through the Erie
38. 1:35County District Attorney's Office so
39. 1:37today we had we had two separate court
40. 1:43proceedings for two individuals the
41. 1:48court proceedings were regarding mr.
42. 1:50Lamar Scott and mr. Valentino Dixon and
43. 1:54the two separate court proceedings on
44. 1:58these two individuals stem from one
45. 2:01incident and that incident being a
46. 2:04shooting that occurred on August 10th of
47. 2:081991
48. 2:10back out here live outside of the Erie
49. 2:13County Courthouse for what is expected
50. 2:15to be a very emotional reunion with
51. 2:17Dickson's family again just moments away
52. 2:19from him walking out for the first time
53. 2:21in 27 years as a free man family members
54. 2:25here including his mother who has
55. 2:26consistently helped to prove that he is
56. 2:28a free man and his daughter who was just
57. 2:31a young child when he first went away to
58. 2:34prison
