  1. 0:00The Trojan Blade is presented by
  2. 0:01PrizePicks. What's up, guys? My name is
  3. 0:03Gabe and welcome back to the Trojan
  4. 0:05Blade. Welcome back to a brand new
  5. 0:06video. Yeah, man. This USC team makes
  6. 0:09absolutely no sense. I really don't get
  7. 0:13it. It's just everything is backwards.
  8. 0:16We're so up and down. The whole thing
  9. 0:19before the season was, yeah, if this
  10. 0:21team is too freshman reliant, we could
  11. 0:23be facing some trouble when they hit
  12. 0:25that freshman wall. But then you look at
  13. 0:27this team and no, the freshmen are the
  14. 0:29least of the worries. It's the veteran
  15. 0:31players that are letting the team down
  16. 0:34whenever something bad does in fact
  17. 0:35happen and the team's being carried by
  18. 0:37the freshmen. There is no letup. There
  19. 0:39is no freshman wall. The two best
  20. 0:41players on this entire team are true
  21. 0:44freshmen in Trent Mosley and Mark
  22. 0:46Bowman. You have a problem on the
  23. 0:47offensive line, just throw in a true
  24. 0:49freshman. It's crazy. And then you look
  25. 0:51at the up and down wild nature of this
  26. 0:55season. Like USC against Oregon and
  27. 0:57Washington and Wisconsin is not even
  28. 1:00remotely Actually, throw in Rutgers in
  29. 1:02there as well. But it's not even close
  30. 1:04to the same team that just played Ohio
  31. 1:06State or that played Penn State. You
  32. 1:08have Lincoln Riley making a yeah, I
  33. 1:10showed all of you statement before even

  78. 2:46video. I'm going to say something and
  79. 2:48you guys let me know if you know what I
  80. 2:50mean, if I'm making any sense, if you
  81. 2:52maybe feel the same way. This doesn't
  82. 2:54feel like a real USC football season to
  83. 2:57me. For whatever reason, like I can't
  84. 2:59put my finger on it. This doesn't feel
  85. 3:01like a traditional USC season. It just
  86. 3:04doesn't feel real. I don't know if that
  87. 3:06makes any sense at all or if any of you
  88. 3:07can relate to that sentiment. It's just
  89. 3:10very strange, I guess. Like, what did we
  90. 3:12know about this team before the season?
  91. 3:14We knew that Jayden Maiava was one of
  92. 3:16the best quarterbacks in the nation. We
  93. 3:18knew that King and Weigman were one of
  94. 3:20the best running back duos in the
  95. 3:21country. And we honestly didn't know
  96. 3:24much about the defense, but Jayden
  97. 3:26Maiava has been below average throughout
  98. 3:28the majority of this season, especially
  99. 3:30in conference play. Viewer comments is
  100. 3:33coming out tomorrow, and that's one of
  101. 3:34the big topics of the day. Everyone's
  102. 3:36asking about Jayden Maiava, what's wrong
  103. 3:38with him? And yeah, he's really out of
  104. 3:40sorts. He's all over the place, doesn't
  105. 3:41look at all like himself. He got carried
  106. 3:44in that last win against the Buckeyes.
  107. 3:45And the fact that we won a game with
  108. 3:47below-average quarterback play,
  109. 3:49inaccurate balls all day, that really
  110. 3:51speaks to how well the team truly
  111. 3:53played. And I think it's just a major
  112. 3:55boost for us going forward as an entire
  113. 3:57squad. Now, Jayden has to be better
  114. 3:59against Indiana, of course. But that has
  115. 4:01not at all lived up to expectations, not
  116. 4:03even close. And King and Weymouth, they
  117. 4:06had a really good game in the last one,
  118. 4:08but they've been so up and down this
  119. 4:09season. Weymouth got flat out benched
  120. 4:11against Wisconsin. We've had fumble
  121. 4:14issues. King Miller is significantly
  122. 4:16slower than last year. Even though his
  123. 4:18vision is still there, his power is
  124. 4:20increased. His physicality, ability to
  125. 4:22break tackles and get extra yards and
  126. 4:24all that. But he's not the same player
  127. 4:26he was last year. And Weymouth isn't
  128. 4:28either. He looked great against Ohio
  129. 4:30State, but that's the first time this
  130. 4:31year he's looked good. The first time
  131. 4:33the entire year. So hopefully that can
  132. 4:35be a trend going forward. But the
  133. 4:37season's been so weird and up and down.
  134. 4:39If you tell me that you think you know
  135. 4:41what USC team is going to show up
  136. 4:43against Indiana, you are either
  137. 4:45incredibly brave or incredibly naive.
  138. 4:48Because let's be honest, guys. No one
  139. 4:50knows. We could get Rutgers USC. We
  140. 4:53could get Wisconsin USC, Penn State USC,
  141. 4:56or Ohio State USC. I put this on Twitter
  142. 4:59this morning. Make sure you guys go and
  143. 5:00follow me over there at Gabe Greenlee
  144. 5:02CFB. But I said this USC team can beat
  145. 5:05any team in the country or lose to any
  146. 5:06team in the country any given week. And
  147. 5:09I mean that. Like I'm not talking about
  148. 5:11the CUSA or the Sun Belt, but like of
  149. 5:14the major conferences, USC could beat
  150. 5:16any team. We could beat Georgia. We
  151. 5:18could beat Miami. We could beat Utah or
  152. 5:21UCLA or Notre Dame or Alabama. We could
  153. 5:24also lose to Rutgers as we saw almost.
  154. 5:27We could lose to Florida State. We could
  155. 5:30lose to Texas A&M or Tennessee, but we
  156. 5:33could also beat Ohio State. We can beat
  157. 5:36Kentucky. We can beat Florida. Like any
  158. 5:39school in there. Either side of the
  159. 5:40coin, this team could find a way to do
  160. 5:42it, man. And it doesn't make any sense,
  161. 5:44really. There's no rhyme or reason on a
  162. 5:46week-to-week basis. Because normally
  163. 5:49it's just USC is elite at home and
  164. 5:51on the road. One of our best
  165. 5:53performances on the year was against
  166. 5:54Penn State on the road. Oregon and
  167. 5:57Washington were dreadful, and those were
  168. 5:59both at home. So that cycle is broken
  169. 6:01right now. Like I know we beat
  170. 6:03Washington. That game felt more like a
  171. 6:05loss than a win. But then you go to Penn
  172. 6:07State when you should, in typical USC
  173. 6:09and Lincoln Riley fashion, fold, play
  174. 6:11poorly, and that didn't happen. It
  175. 6:13wasn't perfect by any means, but man, we
  176. 6:16got the job done. It was a resounding
  177. 6:17win, a solid win. And in the Big Ten in
  178. 6:20that environment, that's nothing to
  179. 6:22scoff at. So, I'm sure a lot of you are
  180. 6:23asking, "Gabe, what's the point of this
  181. 6:25video?" And my answer is, I don't know,
  182. 6:27man. This team is just really confusing
  183. 6:30me, and I can't nail down exactly what
  184. 6:34they are or who they are or what we're
  185. 6:36really good at. Like, is the pass rush
  186. 6:38good? Sometimes yeah, and other times
  187. 6:40it's nonexistent. The only things we
  188. 6:42know without a shadow of a doubt, Mark
  189. 6:45Boman, Trent Mosley, incredible talents,
  190. 6:48two of the best players in college
  191. 6:50football. Not freshman, players in all
  192. 6:53of the sport. We know that the offensive
  193. 6:55line is just okay. We know that. We know
  194. 6:58that our quarterback is seeing ghosts,
  195. 7:00will not run. I don't know if it has
  196. 7:02something to do with his shoulder or his
  197. 7:04draft stock, trying to protect himself,
  198. 7:06I don't know. But he refuses to run, and
  199. 7:09he gives up on plays way earlier than he
  200. 7:10should. He doesn't know when intentional
  201. 7:12grounding is. Like, Jayden's got to get
  202. 7:14it together, or this is not going to be
  203. 7:16a great end of the season. We know that
  204. 7:18the linebacker play is improved from
  205. 7:20last year, but still kind of a mess the
  206. 7:21majority of the time. We know that our
  207. 7:23safeties can out-hit anyone in the
  208. 7:25country, but they can't cover worth a
  209. 7:27damn. And at this point, we know that
  210. 7:29John Tez Williams is one of the best
  211. 7:31cover corners in the entire country. He
  212. 7:33is a mirror corner. He's going to get up
  213. 7:36on that line, he's going to play press
  214. 7:37man, he's going to jam you, and he's
  215. 7:39going to match you step for step. Love
  216. 7:41John Tez, massive addition by Chad Boman
  217. 7:44in the off-season, man. And the special
  218. 7:45teams was very good against Ohio State,
  219. 7:47but overall on the year has been
  220. 7:49absolute So again, I don't know
  221. 7:51what to make of it, man. It's so
  222. 7:53confusing. Like, this is just a
  223. 7:55conversation. I'm going to be down in
  224. 7:57the comment section the minute that this
  225. 7:58video is live. I need help from you
  226. 8:01guys. What do you think this team is?
  227. 8:04What do you think we're good at? What do
  228. 8:05you think the ceiling is? Do you think
  229. 8:07we're going to make the playoffs? Do you
  230. 8:08think we're not? Like any thoughts you
  231. 8:09have, please let me know down below. I'm
  232. 8:12still trying to build and construct in
  233. 8:14my mind exactly what we're seeing on a
  234. 8:16weekly basis and how we apply it to
  235. 8:18describing and defining this group of
  236. 8:21USC Trojans. Like that USC Ohio State
  237. 8:23game did not feel real to me for some
  238. 8:26strange reason. It was so weird. Seeing
  239. 8:29Ohio State with Luke Fahey like such a
  240. 8:30limited, untalented, piss-poor
  241. 8:33quarterback was really jarring. Jeremiah
  242. 8:36Smith throwing a tantrum, Ryan Day just
  243. 8:38standing there like perplexed on the
  244. 8:40sideline, the rain coming down. It was
  245. 8:42just something out of a fever dream.
  246. 8:44Like I don't know how to explain it and
  247. 8:46I'm not sure if this video even makes
  248. 8:48any sense. I think I'm just ranting at
  249. 8:49this point. But honestly, that's what
  250. 8:51USC football has driven us to do this
  251. 8:53year. Like everyone's really on edge. No
  252. 8:55one knows if Lincoln Riley is coming
  253. 8:57back, if he wants to come back, if he's
  254. 8:59going to be fired, or is there going to
  255. 9:00be a mutual parting of ways. Do you want
  256. 9:02Lincoln to stay? Do you want Lincoln to
  257. 9:03go? The conversations we have on a
  258. 9:05weekly basis are very big picture and
  259. 9:08they're very intensive and they're very
  260. 9:10exhausting and draining. You mix that in
  261. 9:12with the up-and-down play every single
  262. 9:14week and not knowing what you're going
  263. 9:15to get and you put it in a pot and you
  264. 9:17stir it up and you come up with some
  265. 9:20laboratory concoction that just looks
  266. 9:22like an absolute mess, right? It can
  267. 9:24taste really good. It can taste like
  268. 9:25Who knows? Shout out to Ryan
  269. 9:27Abraham with the food analogies, I
  270. 9:29guess, but yeah, man. I don't know. This
  271. 9:31team, I love them. They infuriate me at
  272. 9:35the same time. They could be so good.
  273. 9:37They could be a true title contender. I
  274. 9:40believe that. If we play like we did
  275. 9:43against Ohio State, but you have Jayden
  276. 9:44Maiava of last year, I really think it
  277. 9:47could be something special, but just
  278. 9:49there's things that aren't hitting, that
  279. 9:50aren't clicking, that aren't in full
  280. 9:52stride. If the team can come together
  281. 9:54and play a full 60 minutes in
  282. 9:56Bloomington, we can win that game, but
  283. 9:58it's going to take a full effort because
  284. 10:00Kurt Sagnetti against Lincoln Riley, I
  285. 10:03don't care how big of a Lincoln fan you
  286. 10:04are, they have the coaching advantage.
  287. 10:06They have the mental advantage, but they
  288. 10:08don't have the talent advantage. I think
  289. 10:10that's more of a push than anything. I
  290. 10:12think Indiana has better defensive
  291. 10:14players. I think Charlie Becker and Nick
  292. 10:16Marsh are a better duo than our top two
  293. 10:19guys, but Trent is the best receiver in
  294. 10:21this game for me. We'll see what the
  295. 10:22quarterback situation is for them. Man,
  296. 10:24I don't even know. Whole thing's a mess.
  297. 10:26But point of the video is USC is
  298. 10:28confusing. My head hurts. I'm going to
  299. 10:31get out of here and edit this video.
  300. 10:32Again, viewer comments will be out
  301. 10:34tomorrow, November 5th. If you guys did
  302. 10:36happen to enjoy this conversational
  303. 10:38ranty video, please do leave a like,
  304. 10:39subscribe to the channel. I appreciate
  305. 10:41all of you. You guys are all awesome.
  306. 10:43And as always, take care and fight on.
