- 0:06millions and millions of of kids have
- 0:08been uh enticed into lifelong addictions
- 0:11dying prematurely we've seen over 10
- 0:14million Americans die since 1964 since
- 0:17the first surgeon general's report came
- 0:18out and I think we're finally going to
- 0:20be uh see an end to this uh this
- 0:22masquerade these deceptions that the
- 0:24industry has uh uh put on the American
- 0:28public
- 0:37we have youth uh data and youth
- 0:39materials and there have been some other
- 0:41there was a cigarette that I think
- 0:42Reynolds was going to produce called
- 0:44Uptown which was targeted the
- 0:45African-American Community Cool
- 0:47cigarettes have always been a a uh a
- 0:50cigarette that's been targeted to the
- 0:51African-American Community it does not
- 0:53surprised me one bit that there would be
- 0:55other segmented Target populations that
- 0:58the industry would go after whether it's
- 1:00the Jewish population or or the Hispanic
- 1:03population they've always done
- 1:11that about
- 1:28uh
- 1:32Hispanic youth were the least likely to
- 1:33smoke when the tobacco Executives looked
- 1:36at that they said hey that's the market
- 1:38we haven't tapped so they targeted our
- 1:40community because they figured that they
- 1:42could get all our young people as many
- 1:45as possible to
- 1:54smoke it's more than it's the Silver
- 1:56Lining it's everything we ever hoped for
- 1:59and I'm very glad that in the future
- 2:01Hispanic young girls and young boys will
- 2:04no longer be targeted and maybe our
- 2:06community will think that some of the
- 2:08habits that are very common among most
- 2:11Americans like smoking are not things we
- 2:14want to
- 2:19do the commitment uh made by all the
- 2:23attorney generals who were there was
- 2:24very very significant it was it was a
- 2:26very clear message they were in this for
- 2:28the duration now and they were going to
- 2:30bring the industry down to its
- 2:36knees
