- 0:11LaGuardia and the fact that we were
- 0:13already at low altitude at low air speed
- 0:16heading away from the airport and when I
- 0:18took control of the airplane with the
- 0:20airplane still in the climb attitude but
- 0:22without climb thrust on the airplane our
- 0:24air speed began to Decay rapidly in
- 0:26order to lower the nose and retain a
- 0:29safe flying speed our rate of descent
- 0:31necessarily increased dramatically
- 0:33looking at where we were and how much
- 0:35time altitude and distance would be
- 0:37required to turn back toward LaGuardia
- 0:39and then fly toward LaGuardia I
- 0:41determined quickly that that was going
- 0:42to be problematic and it would not be a
- 0:45realistic choice and I couldn't afford
- 0:47to be wrong once I turned toward
- 0:49LaGuardia it would be have been an
- 0:51irrevocable Choice eliminating all other
- 0:54options I had to be make I had to make
- 0:56sure I could make it before I chose that
- 0:57option I decided I couldn't
