  1. 0:00Some unbelievable facts about the Great
  2. 0:02Wall of China. Did you know it's said
  3. 0:04to be the only man-made structure
  4. 0:05visible from space? But that is not
  5. 0:08true. Even if you try to see it from
  6. 0:09low Earth orbit, you won't be able to
  7. 0:11spot it. But that doesn't mean it isn't
  8. 0:13an amazing structure in its own right.
  9. 0:14This wall is 2,500 years old. Chinese
  10. 0:17emperors built it to protect their land
  11. 0:19from invaders. But building a wall is
  12. 0:21actually a bit of a flop idea. Because
  13. 0:23many times, this wall has been breached
  14. 0:25by invaders. The Great Wall is actually
  15. 0:28not a single straight line of wall, but
  16. 0:30many different walls running parallel
  17. 0:31to each other. Sometimes, there are
  18. 0:33even large gaps present between these
  19. 0:35walls. But if you look at the total
  20. 0:37length of the entire Great Wall of
  21. 0:39China by adding all these walls, it
  22. 0:41comes to 21,196 km. That's half the
  23. 0:43size of Earth's equator. And you know,
  24. 0:45it's not like the entire wall was built
  25. 0:47using a single material either. In some
  26. 0:49places, bricks have been used. In some,
  27. 0:51granite, in some marble blocks, and in
  28. 0:53others, wood. In fact, in some places,
  29. 0:55sticky rice has even been used in the
  30. 0:57mortar to build this wall.
