- 0:05Yeah.
- 0:06Um, we've been asked uh by the the
- 0:10federal government to assist in a matter
- 0:13of uh of great importance in the
- 0:16Pacific. Uh, and it's a matter that
- 0:19requires the acquisition of uh some
- 0:21oranges uh that are currently being u
- 0:25held in uh South America. And I have I
- 0:29and Lady are interested in these oranges
- 0:31as well. Well, as a matter of fact,
- 0:32yeah, my information from my company
- 0:34tells me that your company is interested
- 0:35in those oranges. And and we have a very
- 0:38important interest in those oranges
- 0:39ourselves. And um I'm sure that it's
- 0:42that if we have a discussion about
- 0:43you'll understand that my interest is
- 0:45going to be paramount. We just need to
- 0:47acquire these oranges. I I think that um
- 0:50as a scientist uh um you might you might
- 0:53appreciate the fact that this is really
- 0:55not a commercial venture that we're
- 0:57involved in now. This is a matter of
- 0:58life and death. There number of uh I can
- 1:01tell you this that there's a number of
- 1:03uh of uh old um warheads that have been
- 1:08stored in the Pacific that are now in uh
- 1:11some danger of creating a public health
- 1:13hazard of uh great significance. And if
- 1:17we are unable to acquire these oranges
- 1:20in a very short period of time, uh
- 1:22there's going to be some very serious
- 1:24implications. So, and the federal
- 1:26government has asked us for its
- 1:28assistance in this. You could confirm
- 1:29this if if you wish. Yeah, that's that's
- 1:31really not of interest to me and I I can
- 1:33appreciate the the concern you do have,
- 1:35but the matter that we're dealing with
- 1:38and our company is working on is that we
- 1:40need to have these oranges uh to save
- 1:42the really as a matter of life and death
- 1:44to save lives of young children. Uh
- 1:48really our work is dealing with pregnant
- 1:51mothers uh who are about to give birth
- 1:53and unless we acquire those oranges,
- 1:56they're going to be thousands of newborn
- 1:58children with brain damage. serious eye,
- 2:01ear and throat problems, but primarily
- 2:03is there really any way independently of
- 2:05of showing that these that these oranges
- 2:08are essential for this? Oh, absolutely.
- 2:09I mean, it's for dose and disease. We're
- 2:11dealing with infected mothers. It's very
- 2:13well known and it's all these oranges
- 2:15that can provide. Absolutely. Yeah. We
- 2:17have to have these special oranges from
- 2:18South America. So, there's really no
- 2:21question. Well, uh I guess frankly, you
- 2:25know, we would really appreciate if you
- 2:26would kind of bow out of this um cuz we
- 2:30we need this crop of oranges and uh I'd
- 2:33be happy to allow you to have this the
- 2:35next crop of I to suggest that we're
- 2:37we're in a matter of great urgency. Um
- 2:40as you know, uh children come and go,
- 2:44children live and die. I'm not saying
- 2:45that this orgies within the next 2
- 2:49weeks. We just we have to have them. uh
- 2:51the mothers have to be inoculated. If
- 2:54not, it's going to be too late for these
- 2:56children. Um and if we have to do that,
- 2:59I'm I'm prepared to go to court and
- 3:01contact my lawyers. You know, we've had
- 3:03a history. Our companies, but I
- 3:06understand that I'm ready uh to do
- 3:08whatever we need to do and keep you out.
- 3:10I'm sure I'm I'm under I'm under, I
- 3:12guess, similar instructions. Uh I didn't
- 3:15want to have to bring the attorneys in
- 3:17on this. I thought that perhaps as
- 3:19scientists we could we could discuss
- 3:21this some more but if necessary uh we we
- 3:24have the attorney general uh standing by
- 3:27and attorney general of the United
- 3:28States of America because of the
- 3:31government's interest in this matter. So
- 3:32we're we're really hopeful we will find
- 3:34a solution to this but if necessary we
- 3:36will we will um make every resource uh
- 3:41available to us. um you put that at the
- 3:44disposal, but maybe we can talk about
- 3:46this as scientists and and find some
- 3:49reasonable way around. What appears to
- 3:51be quite a dilemma. I mean, I I don't
- 3:53see our position changing, but ours will
- 3:57not either. Maybe you can tell me what
- 3:58you're going to need the oranges for.
- 4:00Well, the um the bomb the bomb casings
- 4:03that we are concerned with at the
- 4:05moment, our best estimate is that the uh
- 4:07the gases are in the process of leaking
- 4:09out at the moment. These gases need to
- 4:11be neutralized and a portion of these
- 4:13rare ooly oranges is necessary for us to
- 4:16make the serum. We have to do this
- 4:18within about four or 5 weeks. Yeah. In
- 4:20order to uh to solve this problem. So
- 4:23we're we also need the oranges to make
- 4:26the serum. Um can you tell me a little
- 4:29bit more? I mean I'm kind of technically
- 4:31interested. You mean what are you going
- 4:33to do? What do you do with the This is
- 4:35not prop for Ontario at all. As I told
- 4:37you before, this is a matter of national
- 4:39urgency. It's not a uh a commercial
- 4:41concern of ours. Uh what uh we do is we
- 4:45extract from the rind of the orange a uh
- 4:48a serum. It's a an important component
- 4:50of the serum. From the rind you're
- 4:52getting your serum. Yes. Um so we need
- 4:54the oranges in order to get the rind
- 4:56from the oranges. Yeah. I never heard of
- 4:57that before that you could you could you
- 5:00could work with that. Yeah. No, it's
- 5:02it's something that we've had a
- 5:04breakthrough on. We're able to do that.
- 5:05That's why the federal government asked
- 5:07us to participate in this project. Yeah.
- 5:09Well, as I said, we do need the oranges.
- 5:11Of course, we got over the reveal how we
- 5:13do that. Um, yeah, we've had some patent
- 5:16issues going back and forth, and I'm not
- 5:18trying to find that out for you at this
- 5:20point. No. Well, but that's largely the
- 5:23role of the attorneys and and the
- 5:25executives I was sent because my people
- 5:28largely see this as a scientific problem
- 5:30and and I asked to see you because we
- 5:32feel that it's a scientific problem and
- 5:34as scientists perhaps we can we can make
- 5:37some progress on it that the others
- 5:38wouldn't be able to understand it. Yeah.
- 5:41Maybe there is some way that we can
- 5:42share the oranges. I see. Maybe. Well,
- 5:45that certainly would be desirable. As I
- 5:46understand it, there's only 3,000
- 5:48available. We would need all 3,000.
- 5:50We're going to need all 3,000, too. Uh,
- 5:52and we really would like to have the
- 5:55complete orange, but there are some of
- 5:57the things that we can do in our
- 5:58proposal um that we may not need the
- 6:00rind for. Um, and how many of uh is it
- 6:05possible for us to have all of the rind?
- 6:07Do you think I think we would need it?
- 6:09Our estimate is that we would need all
- 6:11of the rind. I I don't think that we'd
- 6:13be able to do what we wanted to if we
- 6:15had to deal with all the rinds. But I
- 6:16understand that you're you know I I
- 6:18believe what you're talking about in
- 6:20terms of life and death issues for your
- 6:22people. So maybe we could allow you to
- 6:24have the rind if we could have the rest
- 6:26of the oranges. They wouldn't of course
- 6:27be as valuable to us then. But um okay,
- 6:30we might have to do something
- 6:31synthetically. I see. Well, um maybe
- 6:34there is a a way of of sharing these
- 6:37oranges then in a way that can uh get we
- 6:40have a have a couple of other problems.
- 6:42We need to get these oranges from
- 6:44Cardoza very quickly. Uh we understand
- 6:49about how much do you think these
- 6:50oranges would be worth if they were say
- 6:52uh if you were just bidding against us?
- 6:54Hopefully we should we can find some way
- 6:56of not bidding against each other on
- 6:57this. I mean these are not store
- 7:00oranges. I mean, they're all going to
- 7:01use their sunshine birthday, so they're
- 7:02they're much more valuable. I would
- 7:04guess that the oranges should go for
- 7:07maybe
- 7:08$100,000. Uh if he doesn't get wind of
- 7:11the fact that, you know, there's
- 7:12competitors here, sorry. Uh I I think
- 7:16that's that's about our estimate as well
- 7:18that at least $100,000 might it might
- 7:21take at least $100,000 to So your your
- 7:24firm is willing to put $100,000 into
- 7:26this? we we would be willing to put
- 7:28$100,000 into this, but you know, I've
- 7:31got to lay my cards on the table. Um, we
- 7:34have uh we need to get the these orange
- 7:38rind and we need to get them promptly
- 7:40and we have a contingency which allows
- 7:42us to go over $100,000 in order to to
- 7:45ensure that we get that knock. I would
- 7:47assume that for your purposes, the the
- 7:50money wouldn't be really a decisive
- 7:52matter here. So, we would be at least
- 7:54willing to do
- 7:55$100,000 and uh possibly uh consider
- 7:58more than that. Okay. I mean, we want to
- 8:00lay our cards on the table, too. Uh and
- 8:02as I said, we need these oranges. Can
- 8:04you tell me um how much you think your
- 8:07company could pay just in
- 8:09case? Let's see. We uh we can certainly
- 8:13go over 100,000, but of course, now if
- 8:15we are cooperating on this, we might
- 8:17have an opportunity of going
- 8:19$200,000 to Cardoza.
- 8:22uh and equally contributing. Would you
- 8:24be in favor of a of a of a proportional
- 8:27contribution, perhaps an equal
- 8:28contribution to the buying of these
- 8:30oranges? Um well, as I said, the
- 8:32oranges, if you're taking the rides,
- 8:33aren't going to be as valuable to us.
- 8:34So, I'm not quite sure sure that I'm
- 8:36willing to match your contribution. Uh
- 8:39but and so maybe we can do a
- 8:41proportionally lesser contribution, but
- 8:43we certainly want to pull our money to
- 8:45uh get all we all we can with these
- 8:47oranges. Um well are you agreeable to
- 8:50the fact that whatever the proportion we
- 8:52work out that we go in as a joint
- 8:54venture to buy the oranges? Yeah that's
- 8:56something that you can see that's
- 8:59important that we do that and Cardo
- 9:01doesn't understand that the two of us
- 9:03are working together that we have you
- 9:05know different interest cuz otherwise
- 9:06it'll bid up the price of the oranges.
- 9:08Yeah. If if we are the only people
- 9:11bidding on the oranges then I suppose
- 9:13Cardo if he wants to sell the oranges
- 9:15going to have to sell them to us. Right.
- 9:16On the other hand, there may be another
- 9:18bidder around. We don't know about but
- 9:20uh can you give me some idea about how
- 9:22high your side was prepared to go in
- 9:24order to uh to secure these oranges?
- 9:27Well, we can definitely go to
- 9:30100,000 establish that we you say more
- 9:33than that about how many more do you
- 9:35think you'd need need in order to
- 9:37probably I'm sure we can go to 150,000.
- 9:40Okay. I think we can probably go there
- 9:42as well. more. Well, why don't we um why
- 9:46don't we do it this way? So, 150 each
- 9:48gives us a ceiling of $300,000. Yeah. Uh
- 9:52I uh and I think you indicated just a
- 9:54minute ago that you might there might be
- 9:56more than that. We absolutely needed to
- 9:58do that. I'm sure I could get that
- 10:00authorization. Although I
