- 0:00>> See what I mean? Yeah.
- 0:01>> He rents a a Phantom or something. I
- 0:03mean, it's ridiculous.
- 0:04>> Yeah.
- 0:05>> To pitch me on me giving him money for
- 0:07his business.
- 0:08>> I didn't even listen to the pitch.
- 0:09>> Exactly right. That kid was faking it.
- 0:11And he missed the moment to make it.
- 0:15A part of what the problem of where we
- 0:16are right now is is
- 0:19Instagram
- 0:21and Facebook and Twitter. Just You look
- 0:24at people's lives and you go, "Wow."
- 0:27Now listen, I got people that work for
- 0:28me. I know what I pay them and I look at
- 0:30their Instagram going, "Wow."
- 0:34You are living like that?
- 0:37But a lot of that is illusion. They want
- 0:40you to think that's what it is. So, if
- 0:42you start focusing on that stuff, if you
- 0:44start paying attention to that, you're
- 0:45going to get off track. Focus on your
- 0:48journ- your journey, your lane. I have
- 0:51never in Hollywood felt any competition
- 0:53from anybody.
- 0:54My only competition is myself.
- 0:56There's not one person.
- 0:58Not one.
- 1:01I get inspired. Sure, I look at these
- 1:04guys go, "Wow, that's amazing. That
- 1:05inspires me." But no, I'm I'm one of
- 1:07one. I'm in my own lane doing my own
- 1:10thing.
- 1:12>> When you see somebody accomplishing big
- 1:13things,
- 1:14>> Yeah.
- 1:14>> like what what happens for you? Do you
- 1:16like are you I think you're talking
- 1:18about inspiration.
- 1:19>> Yeah. Yeah, for sure. For sure. And you
- 1:21know, when I was when I start
- 1:22>> you also have a critical enough eye to
- 1:24say, "Wait a minute, is this even real?"
- 1:26>> No, no, no, no, no. Two different
- 1:27things. No, no. When I see people having
- 1:29tremendous success, I'm go- I'm I'm
- 1:30happy for them. I really, really am
- 1:32happy for them. But when I see people on
- 1:34Instagram with a fake success that you
- 1:37know you know you know that ain't your
- 1:39airplane. How where you get that What
- 1:40are you doing? That's what I mean. That
- 1:42kind of thing, you know.
- 1:42>> So, when you flew into Opa-locka and you
- 1:44saw the helicopter and that plane,
- 1:45you're like, "Oh, He might be
- 1:46real."
- 1:46>> No, no.
- 1:48Stop it.
- 1:49>> He saw it. He saw it, right?
- 1:50>> Yes. Yes. I saw I saw the GC on on the
- 1:53Gulfstream and on the helicopter. I
- 1:55said, "Oh, all right. Well, maybe I try
- 1:57to get me a helicopter. This is That's
- 1:59what I thought. That's what I thought.
- 2:00But no, no, it wasn't it wasn't that
- 2:03What it What it is for me is that is
- 2:05that when you when you look at people
- 2:07like especially that more than anything
- 2:09great, the young these young people who
- 2:10haven't they haven't they haven't worked
- 2:12yet. They haven't earned it yet and
- 2:13you're looking at them traveling the
- 2:15world going,
- 2:16where's your mama? I just Who Who is
- 2:18paying for all this? You know what I
- 2:19mean? That's what I mean. That's what I
- 2:21mean.
- 2:21>> When when when somebody's I'm sure you
- 2:23get pitched a lot.
- 2:24Yeah, your story makes me think of a guy
- 2:26that showed up my young guy shows up in
- 2:28my office one day
- 2:30and he rents a Rolls-Royce. He's 24
- 2:32years old.
- 2:32>> See what I mean?
- 2:33>> Yeah.
- 2:33>> He rents a a Phantom or something. I
- 2:35mean, it's ridiculous.
- 2:36>> Yeah.
- 2:37>> To pitch me
- 2:39on me giving him money for his business.
- 2:41>> With pulling up in a Phantom.
- 2:42>> Yeah.
- 2:43>> Yeah.
- 2:43>> That's exactly what I'm talking about.
- 2:45But see, that would be all over
- 2:46Instagram. I went to meet with Grant in
- 2:48my Rolls-Royce. No, you rented it and
- 2:50you walked out of the room without the
- 2:52money you needed because you came in
- 2:53with a pretense that you didn't have.
- 2:55>> even listen to the pitch.
- 2:56>> Exactly right. See, for me, let me tell
- 2:57you something. I am so real when I was
- 2:59broke, I was broke. I didn't lie. I
- 3:02didn't My shoes were run over. They were
- 3:03like, Tyler, can you No, I don't have
- 3:05the money to come over there and meet
- 3:06you. I'm sorry. You know, so I just I
- 3:08was in my truth all the time.
- 3:10>> believe fake it till you make till you
- 3:11make it.
- 3:12>> I don't believe that, man. Some people
- 3:13believe fake it till you make it. That's
- 3:14great. And if that works for you, then
- 3:16so be it. But for me, I've just got to
- 3:18be in because because that kid was
- 3:20faking it. And he missed the moment to
- 3:21make it. Yeah, rather than being a hey,
- 3:24here's what I am. I got this incredible
- 3:26idea. I've got this incredible business.
- 3:28I've got this incredible I know it can
- 3:29be this. Here's where we are. This is
- 3:31God's honest truth of where we are.
- 3:33Here's where we are. Here's where I see
- 3:34us going. How can you help me?
- 3:36>> So, how does somebody get that meeting
- 3:37with you?
- 3:38>> They don't.
- 3:39>> Okay. But But if they were to get it
- 3:42>> No, no.
- 3:42>> How would they go about that? And then
- 3:44And then what would you want to hear
- 3:45Most of these people are business
- 3:46owners.
- 3:46>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. No. No. I was I was
- 3:48completely joking. What happens with
- 3:49with us is a lot of it comes through my
- 3:51agent agencies or hey Tyler, we got this
- 3:53idea, we got this idea. This company has
- 3:55this, this company has that." And once
- 3:57they they come in, it it's a bunch of
- 3:59gatekeepers that you have to get through
- 4:01because
- 4:01>> Walls and walls.
- 4:02>> Because and not and this is this is what
- 4:04I learned because I've been sued too
- 4:06many times.
- 4:07>> Oh.
- 4:07>> Yeah, I I I had a woman who said that
- 4:10she wrote I wrote a Mad Black Woman and
- 4:12filed a lawsuit against me. And this is
- 4:14many many years ago and it was it was a
- 4:16it was a
- 4:16tremendous lesson for me. So so now
- 4:19there are there are pro uh protocols
- 4:20before any information can come to me.
- 4:22So I need to I it has to go through all
- 4:24the proper channels so that everything's
- 4:25been vetted. It's sad.
- 4:27>> isn't it?
- 4:27>> Yeah, because because you run into
- 4:28people who have incredible stuff and be
- 4:30like, "I'm sorry, I can't I can't. It
- 4:32has to go through the channels." And you
- 4:33hope that it gets there. But when people
- 4:35come up with this BS and things like
- 4:37that and what She lost the case, by the
- 4:38way. I would have Listen, the
- 4:41If you come after my integrity, this is
- 4:42what I did.
- 4:44This They filed a lawsuit down in in
- 4:46Texas uh
- 4:48some Marshall, Texas.
- 4:50And cuz they didn't think I would come.
- 4:52Their lawyer is like, "Just give us a
- 4:53few million dollars and we'll go away."
- 4:54I was like, "No, no, you talking about
- 4:55my integrity. Let me just tell you what
- 4:56I'm going to do."
- 4:57I rented a Nissan Sentra and I rented
- 4:59the Holiday Inn and I went to court
- 5:01every day until I won. Because because
- 5:04you there's certain things that I'm just
- 5:05not going to let you attack or do,
- 5:07right? All of that to say that yes, you
- 5:09can get the meetings, but there are all
- 5:11of these different uh hurdles you have
- 5:12to get
- 5:12>> get through the gates,
- 5:13>> Yeah.
- 5:14>> [snorts]
- 5:14>> then I sit down with you. What What do
- 5:16you expect from me? Like like
- 5:18I What I'm What I'm looking
- 5:20>> What are three things you want you'd
- 5:21want from me?
- 5:21>> What I'm looking for is that you know
- 5:22it. That whatever it is, you know it.
- 5:25Like you know it. I want to be able to
- 5:26ask you 10 different questions about
- 5:29from your bottom line to your middle
- 5:30line to last year to profits. I want 10
- 5:33I want to know that you know it, that
- 5:34you don't have to call somebody and say,
- 5:35"Well, let me get that information." Let
- 5:37me know, you know it so well that it's
- 5:38right there in front of you. In your
- 5:40mind, here here it is. And I want a
- 5:42thorough plan. Thorough. Like What is
- 5:45this? What How do we ups- How do we
- 5:47scale up? How do we build it? Show me
- 5:49all of that. Put that all in front of me
- 5:51and make it clear. Sh- powerfully,
- 5:53strongly, definitively.
- 5:56In everything you do.
- 5:57>> something written? You want to see
- 5:58animation? You want to see pictures?
- 6:00>> Whatever you think you're best at.
- 6:01Whatever you think Whatever you think is
- 6:03going to get the cuz I've seen it all.
- 6:05I've seen I've seen it written on a
- 6:07napkin. You know,
- 6:09we were drunk in a bar. And uh
- 6:12>> What was that deal? What was that deal
- 6:13on the napkin?
- 6:13>> This
- 6:15This is my
- 6:17uh builder. So, we were working on some
- 6:19and I like to design and draw things and
- 6:21so we built something that turned out
- 6:23pretty profitable. That's all I say
- 6:25about it. But wherever it is, it's like
- 6:27whatever it is, just be sure that you
- 6:28know what it is.
- 6:30>> How important when when you talked about
- 6:32it was very profitable, you got this
- 6:33glee in your eye, right? Like to me,
- 6:35it's very important. I think money's
- 6:36been demonized in our society. If you
- 6:39say you made money on a project, it's
- 6:41almost like you shouldn't or something.
- 6:43>> Who's Who's doing that?
- 6:45>> Well, I get a lot of hate.
- 6:47I I get my fair share of hate for for
- 6:49the plane, for the helicopter, for
- 6:51success, for show for talking about
- 6:53>> the word though. For success.
- 6:56There are people on this planet who do
- 6:58not
- 7:00have the capacity,
- 7:02not the ability, but the capacity to
- 7:04receive certain amounts of success in
- 7:07their mind. If you don't have the
- 7:09capacity in your mind, you will never be
- 7:11able to receive it or feel it, right?
- 7:14So,
- 7:15you couple that
- 7:19Couple that with people who are seeing
- 7:21other people who have the capacity to do
- 7:23it, there's all of this hatred and
- 7:25jealousy and envy cuz cuz they look at
- 7:27your life and then they look at theirs
- 7:29and there's this well, why not me? And
- 7:32rather than setting that aside and
- 7:34putting the work and the time into see
- 7:35what your why not me is, it's easier to
- 7:38just hate on somebody. But anyway, go
- 7:39ahead. I'm sorry.
- 7:40>> How important is money
- 7:42to the game?
- 7:43>> To which game? My game?
- 7:44>> you're playing, the game they're
- 7:46playing. How important would money
- 7:47either be now or in the future?
- 7:49>> I Money is Listen, money is really,
- 7:52really
- 7:53important as an expression to what you
- 7:56want to do and be in life. So, I don't I
- 7:59don't I used to be a I Listen, man, the
- 8:01first year I made money
- 8:03that that that that 1998-99, I made like
- 8:06$130,000.
- 8:08I was like, "Whoa. Wow, $130,000." Now,
- 8:10you Now, listen, I'm coming from being
- 8:11homeless. I got $130,000.
- 8:13Uh got to the end of the year, had no
- 8:15money to pay my taxes. Nobody told me
- 8:16about taxes.
- 8:18Next year, I made $700,000.
- 8:20I said, "Wow, $700,000."
- 8:22Same thing. No money to pay my taxes. I
- 8:24had given it all away to family, to
- 8:26friends. Next year, $7,000,000.
- 8:29Same situation. So, what was happening
- 8:32in year to year to year is I had a guilt
- 8:34inside of me that told me I didn't
- 8:37deserve it.
- 8:38I came from a pathol- a pathology of in
- 8:41order to get money, you had all your
- 8:43money had to be gone, which meant that
- 8:45you can only have this money for 2 weeks
- 8:47later you're going to get paid, that's
- 8:48when you get more money. So, all the
- 8:49money has to be gone for that money to
- 8:50come in. So, that's this is the way that
- 8:53I was thinking. So, I was giving it all
- 8:54away because I didn't feel that I
- 8:56deserved it or I was worthy of it. I
- 8:58felt like everybody else was.
- 9:00I got over that
- 9:02beca-
- 9:04because
- 9:06because
- 9:07because
- 9:09what I realized is that if I keep giving
- 9:11this money to you, then I'm not help
- 9:14able to help myself. And if I can't help
- 9:16myself, I certainly can't help you in
- 9:18the future. So, it it became about let's
- 9:21see how
- 9:22to make money work for me in this
- 9:24situation and have it be at a place
- 9:27where I can do the things that I'm doing
- 9:29like right now, like talking about the
- 9:30payroll with all of those other people.
- 9:32I mean, these are people got kids in
- 9:34colleges, they're living lives that they
- 9:35never thought they could because of
- 9:38whatever dream came through me. That's
- 9:40why I'm so glad I didn't give up. I
- 9:41didn't stop. I just kept going because I
- 9:44know for a fact that a lot of people
- 9:46lot of people's dreams are tied into
- 9:48mine just like they're into yours and
- 9:50your business and your hope and what you
- 9:52want to do.
- 9:55>> You know we dominate.
- 9:57You know we dominate.
- 9:58Yeah.
- 9:59>> [music]
- 10:00>> What?
- 10:01You You know we dominate.
- 10:03You know we
