- 0:06Welcome or welcome back to my channel.
- 0:09I'm Silvia, and in today's video, we'll
- 0:12discover together how to knit this very
- 0:14easy scarf. It's a unisex project
- 0:34suitable for both adults and children,
- 0:37quick and easy, as we'll only use basic
- 0:39knitting stitches: knit and purl.
- 0:45It’s a pattern that even beginners
- 0:47can easily replicate, and above all, it
- 0:49requires very few materials. It's a
- 0:54reversible pattern, so we have the same
- 0:56texture on both sides of our scarf. The
- 1:02combination of stitches we'll use will
- 1:04create a lovely embossed effect and,
- 1:06most importantly, give our project
- 1:07elasticity. My scarf measures about
- 1:201.25 meters in length and about 18
- 1:22centimeters in width, but of course,
- 1:24you can adjust the dimensions to suit
- 1:26your needs. You can make a wider scarf
- 1:36by increasing the number of stitches
- 1:38you cast on, and naturally, you can
- 1:39make it longer or shorter by adding or
- 1:41removing rows. To make this scarf,
- 1:51you'll only need to repeat two rows
- 1:53based on the same sequence of stitches,
- 1:54with a very small variation only at the
- 1:56beginning and end of the second row,
- 1:58but of course, we’ll see all these
- 2:00steps together. Let's see all the
- 2:07materials I used, and if you'd like, I
- 2:09invite you to subscribe to my channel
- 2:11so you don't miss all the upcoming
- 2:12knitting and crochet projects I have
- 2:14planned for you. For this project, I
- 2:25will be using three balls of this yarn,
- 2:27Biomerino by Sesia. It is 100%organic
- 2:32virgin wool. With no chlorine treatment
- 2:36. I chose this wonderful antique pink
- 2:40color. The unique feature of this yarn,
- 2:44as you’ll surely notice, is the twist
- 2:46, the structure of the ball itself. In
- 2:52this case, our yarn has a diamond twist
- 2:54. We are, of course, dealing with a 100
- 2:59%made in Italy yarn. Each ball weighs
- 3:0250 grams with a yield of about 110
- 3:04meters, and it can be worked with
- 3:06crochet hooks or knitting needles,
- 3:08sizes 4 or 4.5. And this wonderful
- 3:13antique pink shade corresponds to color
- 3:155049. Our project is worked as a flat
- 3:21panel and can be made with either
- 3:23straight or circular needles. For
- 3:27convenience, I will be using the latter
- 3:29. Specifically, I will use size 6 metal
- 3:34tips and an 80 cm cable. You can make
- 3:39this scarf using the yarn in your right
- 3:40hand or your left hand. It makes
- 3:44absolutely no difference. What we need
- 3:47to focus on is the stitch sequence. To
- 3:57work this pattern, we need to cast on a
- 3:59number of stitches that must be a
- 4:00multiple of 4 + 3. What does that mean?
- 4:06Cast on a number of stitches onto your
- 4:08needles, provided it is a multiple of
- 4:10four. Then, at the end of the row, add
- 4:13three extra stitches. There are no edge
- 4:17stitches planned for this pattern. To
- 4:21execute my project, I will cast on 43
- 4:24stitches onto my needles. You can cast
- 4:28the stitches onto your needle using any
- 4:30method you prefer; it does not matter.
- 4:37To make our scarf, we only need to
- 4:38repeat two rows of work until it
- 4:40reaches the desired length. Let's start
- 4:45right away with the first row. Knit the
- 4:50first three stitches that appear. Then
- 5:11move the yarn to the front and purl one
- 5:13stitch. This will be the sequence of
- 5:20stitches we need to repeat throughout
- 5:22this row. Knit three stitches and purl
- 5:33one stitch. Then start again with three
- 5:38knit stitches and one purl stitch.
- 5:51Continue alternating these stitches
- 5:52until you reach the last three stitches
- 5:54on your needle. If we have repeated our
- 6:01stitch sequence correctly, the last
- 6:03three stitches on our needle will be
- 6:05knit stitches. And so we have completed
- 6:21our first row. The sequence of stitches
- 6:25we just saw together, three knits and
- 6:27one purl, will be the focus of our
- 6:29entire project. However, this sequence
- 6:34undergoes a variation in our second row
- 6:36. The second row will begin with one
- 6:40knit stitch followed by one purl stitch
- 6:42. So, I knit the first stitch of the
- 6:47row and purl the second stitch. Then I
- 6:52resume with my stitch sequence. Three
- 6:56knits, one purl, three knits, and one
- 7:09purl, and I continue with my stitch
- 7:14sequence until I reach the last two
- 7:16stitches of my row. At the end of the
- 7:22row, after having worked three knit
- 7:24stitches, we find ourselves with the
- 7:26last two stitches to work. The
- 7:30second-to-last stitch will be a purl,
- 7:34while the last stitch of our row will
- 7:36be a knit. So, what is the difference
- 7:39between our two rows? The first row
- 7:44begins with three knits, one purl, and
- 7:45you continue alternating the stitches
- 7:47this way until the end of the row. The
- 7:52last three stitches of the row will be
- 7:54three knit stitches. In the second row,
- 7:58we start by working one knit and one
- 8:00purl. Then we resume with our stitch
- 8:04sequence. Three knits, one purl, three
- 8:07knits, and one purl, until we reach the
- 8:09end of the row. The second-to-last
- 8:14stitch of the row will always be a purl
- 8:15, while the last stitch of our row will
- 8:17be a knit. To make our scarf, we don't
- 8:23need to do anything other than
- 8:25alternate these two rows, the first and
- 8:27the second, until our project reaches
- 8:28the desired length. We work row one,
- 8:36row two, row one, row two, and so on
- 8:39until we get a result like this. I'll
- 8:44share a little trick with you. You
- 8:49might find yourself having to stop
- 8:50working, and when you resume, you might
- 8:52not remember which of the two rows you
- 8:54worked last, and consequently, which
- 8:56one you need to work now to continue.
- 9:02We need to look at the first three
- 9:04stitches on the needle. In this case,
- 9:09before us, the first and the third
- 9:11stitches have this horizontal bar,
- 9:13which is a typical characteristic of
- 9:15purl stitches. In our case, for this
- 9:23project, when we see a bar, no bar, and
- 9:25a bar before us, it means that in the
- 9:27next row, the one we need to work now,
- 9:29we must begin by knitting the three
- 9:31stitches, so I need to perform the
- 9:38steps of the first row. I start with
- 9:42three knits, and I alternate with my
- 9:48purl in this way until the end of my
- 9:52row. And let's look at the opposite
- 9:56case, of course. If the first three
- 10:02stitches on our needle all show the
- 10:03horizontal bar, it means we need to
- 10:05start this row by working a knit, a
- 10:07purl, and then resuming our stitch
- 10:09sequence. So we must work by following
- 10:16the steps we saw for our second row.
- 10:22Once the desired length for our project
- 10:24is reached, we conclude our work by
- 10:26binding off with a simple pass-over. We
- 10:33knit the first two stitches. With our
- 10:42left needle, we must take the first
- 10:44stitch, the one on the right needle,
- 10:46and pass it over the second stitch on
- 10:48the needle. I enter the first stitch
- 10:58like this, holding the second one still
- 11:00, and I let it slide, passing it over
- 11:02the tip of the needle until it drops
- 11:04off. From two stitches on the right
- 11:12needle, we are left with only one
- 11:13stitch. We knit the next stitch and
- 11:20repeat the same steps. We take the
- 11:25stitch, hold the second one still, and
- 11:27pass it over. We continue in this way
- 11:35until we reach the end of our row. Once
- 11:41the last two stitches are bound off, we
- 11:43remove our needle. We pull out our loop
- 11:48and, by making a small knot, we secure
- 11:50the yarn inside the work. On one side
- 11:56of my project, I then added one of my
- 11:58custom faux leather labels that was
- 12:00made for me by Fungo Label. On one side
- 12:05I have my brand, while on the other
- 12:07side is the word "andande." I'll leave
- 12:13their website written here on the
- 12:14screen, where you can find this and
- 12:16many other fully customizable label
- 12:18models. We have thus reached the end of
- 12:22this video tutorial, which I hope has
- 12:24been a good creative inspiration for
- 12:26you. We have seen how, with just a few
- 12:31steps, we can create a super soft
