- 0:01Being able to display things and get
- 0:03creative and take a boring sim room
- 0:07and turn it into this kind of wow factor
- 0:10and making it uh more personable for you
- 0:14is it's really the next level thing to
- 0:16do.
- 0:17Uh so if you want to make your sim room
- 0:19go from this
- 0:22to this
- 0:24then stay tuned.
- 0:27>> [music]
- 0:37[music]
- 0:44>> It is time to take your sim room to the
- 0:46next level with floor projection. So
- 0:48first off with floor projection, there's
- 0:50a few things that you need. First, you
- 0:52need another projector. Um so I will
- 0:54drop a link in to the description of the
- 0:57one that I have. I purchased from
- 0:58Amazon. It's sub 150. Uh I got really
- 1:01lucky. It's super bright. It's uh not a
- 1:04short throw, but it cast a pretty big uh
- 1:07image um and takes up majority of my
- 1:09floor. Uh so that's the one thing you
- 1:11kind of want to think about. What's your
- 1:13ceiling height?
- 1:14What's the throw? How big of an image do
- 1:16you want? And will it create enough
- 1:19space for you to work with on your
- 1:20projector? The second thing is
- 1:22brightness. The brighter the better. If
- 1:23you're in environment with
- 1:25uh ambient light
- 1:27or you want to have the lights on,
- 1:29obviously you're going to want a
- 1:30brighter projector. Uh so just keep that
- 1:32in mind. OBS, we're going to have to
- 1:34download OBS on a PC. Uh the third thing
- 1:37is we're going to need HDMI or display
- 1:40port cables. So on your PC
- 1:43whether you're using a laptop or a
- 1:44desktop, desktop obviously is going to
- 1:46be better. OBS does
- 1:48take up some CPU. Uh so if you're
- 1:51running your sim software, Spotify,
- 1:53other things, plus OBS be prepared
- 1:57for it to take up a lot of resources.
- 1:59So, obviously desktop's going to be the
- 2:01best thing. Um if you have a HDMI or a
- 2:04display port available, that's what
- 2:05you're going to do. So, if you have a
- 2:06display port available, then what you're
- 2:08going to want to get is a HDMI cable
- 2:10with a display port active adapter.
- 2:12If you have an HDMI
- 2:14port available, then it's just simple.
- 2:15It's HDMI from your new projector down
- 2:18to your PC.
- 2:20Let's look at how we download OBS.
- 2:24All right. So, we are going to Google
- 2:26OBS.
- 2:28Should be the first thing that pops up.
- 2:30You're going to click on Open Broadcast
- 2:31Software.
- 2:33From here, you're going to navigate over
- 2:34to downloads.
- 2:37And it's pretty easy. If you're using
- 2:38Windows, it's going to be right here.
- 2:40You're going to hit the download
- 2:41installer. If you're using Mac or Linux,
- 2:43obviously you're going to have to scroll
- 2:44down and and do a different um
- 2:47uh download link.
- 2:49But, for Windows, you're going to click
- 2:51download installer. As soon as you hit
- 2:53that download installer, it's going to
- 2:54send it up here.
- 2:57You're just going to click through and
- 2:58navigate through that download. Um it's
- 3:00no zip file. It's super easy. Once you
- 3:02run everything, it's going to add the
- 3:04icon to your desktop and auto-launch.
- 3:08All right. So, once we have OBS
- 3:10downloaded and we open OBS, this is what
- 3:12the
- 3:14uh
- 3:15the software will look like.
- 3:17And if you don't know much about OBS or
- 3:19how to do scenes and sources, I do
- 3:22recommend that you watch uh a video that
- 3:24I posted um
- 3:27earlier in the year of how to add
- 3:29sources and scenes, or just YouTube any
- 3:31type of video or quick beginner's guide
- 3:34to OBS and how to down how to
- 3:37uh create scenes and add sources. We'll
- 3:40go through it um as we're building our
- 3:43floor projection. So, if you just follow
- 3:44along, you'll be able to kind of have a
- 3:47beginner's guide as we're going through.
- 3:49So, the first thing we're going to do is
- 3:51you're going to have a scene here.
- 3:53We're going to right click that.
- 3:59The first thing we're going to do is
- 4:00we're going to have a scene up here.
- 4:01We're going to right click that and we
- 4:03are going to want to rename it as I
- 4:05already did.
- 4:07Floor
- 4:09projection.
- 4:12Okay.
- 4:13Uh if you don't have one, you can hit
- 4:15the plus sign, add it, and then rename
- 4:17it.
- 4:18All right. So, really floor projection
- 4:20is
- 4:21what you want it to be.
- 4:23I am a huge component of
- 4:27not a lot of clutter, not a lot of
- 4:29things on the floor,
- 4:31but enough to make it a wow factor
- 4:35and make it
- 4:38useful and but not clutter. So,
- 4:43I want it to be
- 4:45clean and I want everything to be
- 4:47symmetrical, uh but I don't want to just
- 4:49throw logos all over the place. So,
- 4:51uh first thing that we're going to do is
- 4:53we are going to create our hitting box.
- 4:56Um and so, with floor projection, the
- 4:58main reason why people want to do it is
- 5:01you want a spot to show people
- 5:04um where to hit the ball from. Um you
- 5:06know, if you're using a a floor launch
- 5:08monitor, uh floor base, then the hitting
- 5:10areas are not as big. Uh so, maybe you
- 5:13want to show people where to put the
- 5:15ball at.
- 5:16Uh so, let's kind of step through um
- 5:19going through the hitting box first. The
- 5:21first thing we're going to do
- 5:23is we're going to add the hitting box.
- 5:25So, what we're going to do is we're
- 5:26going to hit the plus sign down here on
- 5:28sources.
- 5:30We're going to go to color. The first
- 5:32thing we're going to do is we're going
- 5:33to add a color and it's just going to be
- 5:34white. It's going to take up the whole
- 5:36canvas.
- 5:37Uh so, we're going to want to resize
- 5:38this. Guys, there's three ways to um
- 5:41resize the boxes on OBS and this is the
- 5:45biggest part. I want to talk through
- 5:47this first because as you start seeing
- 5:49me add more sources, it's going to be
- 5:52rinse and repeat. It depends on where
- 5:54you're grabbing it from. Is it going to
- 5:55be from your sim software? Is it going
- 5:57to be from the internet like we're about
- 5:59to do? Is it a logo that you've created?
- 6:02So,
- 6:03depending on where you go get the
- 6:04source, it's going to be different. But
- 6:06how you put it into OBS and how you
- 6:09resize it is all the same. So, let's
- 6:11talk through the first three the three
- 6:14ways to resize.
- 6:16So, the first one is you can drag you
- 6:18can grab the corner and you can just
- 6:20resize the entire image. It is going to
- 6:23keep its
- 6:25um its resolution from a standpoint of
- 6:28its rectangle type shape, kind of that
- 6:3116 by 9 image. It's just going to make
- 6:33it smaller and bigger as you can see as
- 6:35I drag this, okay?
- 6:37The second one is going to be
- 6:40you can manipulate the sides or the top.
- 6:43You can make them longer or shorter and
- 6:46now you can manipulate the image. If you
- 6:48hold down the shift key
- 6:50and then I drag this, you can see it's
- 6:52just changing the x-axis. That's it.
- 6:58Conversely, if I go up top here and I
- 7:01hold the
- 7:03uh shift key and go up and down, it is
- 7:06changing the y-axis, so to speak.
- 7:09Okay?
- 7:10The third thing and what is really,
- 7:12really important when we're doing floor
- 7:14projection is how to crop. So, if I grab
- 7:17this side right here and it's going to
- 7:18look a little weird.
- 7:20You're not going to really be able to
- 7:21tell because it's a white image, but if
- 7:23I hold the alt key,
- 7:24you'll see that this side is coming in
- 7:27and it turns green.
- 7:29So, what am I what I'm doing is
- 7:31everything out here has been cropped.
- 7:33So, if there was an image
- 7:37Let's go back to full. If there was an
- 7:39image right here, it would be cropping
- 7:41it out. And so, you'll see that as we
- 7:43start adding snippets of our SIM
- 7:44software, um in our case it's going to
- 7:46be GS Pro. So, first things first is
- 7:49we're just going to create this hitting
- 7:50box.
- 7:51Okay? So, that's just going to live
- 7:53right here.
- 7:55All right, next thing we're going to do
- 7:56is we're actually going to put an
- 7:58outline on this. I think this is really
- 7:59cool.
- 8:00Um and it's just an added factor. Um
- 8:03what we're going to do is we're going to
- 8:04go back here. We're going to go and
- 8:06we're going to Google
- 8:08your favorite color. So, what we're
- 8:10going to do is we're just going to
- 8:11Google um
- 8:12we'll say blue. So, blue
- 8:15outline.
- 8:18And it could be any of these. So, um it
- 8:20doesn't matter what the background looks
- 8:21like and I'll show you why.
- 8:23So, let's just go ahead and
- 8:25we're going to click images.
- 8:29Let's grab
- 8:33Let's just grab we want one that's kind
- 8:35of All right, this one right here. So,
- 8:36it's kind of glowing. Let's grab that
- 8:38one.
- 8:39And we're going to
- 8:42save this.
- 8:44So, save image as.
- 8:46We're going to put this in our downloads
- 8:48and we're going to put
- 8:50outline
- 8:52box.
- 8:53Okay?
- 8:54So, that's saved.
- 8:56We're going to go back to our OBS.
- 8:58We're going to hit sources and then
- 9:01remember, we saved this image. So, we're
- 9:03going to save it as uh we're going to
- 9:04hit sources. We're going to click image.
- 9:07Add new image. We're going to browse in
- 9:09our downloads.
- 9:11And we should see outline box.
- 9:13Okay? And you may not like this one.
- 9:15This is just one I grabbed quick.
- 9:18All right.
- 9:19So, the big thing about OBS is you can
- 9:21layer things. Um so, what we're going to
- 9:23want to do with this is we're going to
- 9:24want to
- 9:28move our hitting box up above our image.
- 9:31So, now our hitting box is above.
- 9:34We're going going this.
- 9:39Hitting box. Oh.
- 9:43And we're going to rename this
- 9:47outline.
- 9:51And so what we want to do now is we want
- 9:54to use what we talked earlier, shift
- 9:58key.
- 10:00I don't like how thick that's going to
- 10:01be, so I'm going to just use the outer
- 10:03ring of this outline.
- 10:06Try to get it symmetrical.
- 10:10And so I'm using the shift key. That's
- 10:11all I'm doing.
- 10:13So now I have a blue
- 10:15outline of our hitting box.
- 10:18Okay?
- 10:19Now, because I don't want anything to
- 10:20happen with these, OBS 101, I'm going to
- 10:23lock them. Okay? So now I can't do
- 10:26anything with them once they're locked.
- 10:27If I want them to disappear, all I got
- 10:29to do is hit the eye. So if you have a
- 10:30logo on here that you want when some
- 10:32people come over, you can go ahead and
- 10:33have it on here. You just hit the eye
- 10:35and then uh make it visible or not.
- 10:38All right, so we're going to make sure
- 10:39that these are locked.
- 10:41And
- 10:43the second thing I'm going to do is I'm
- 10:45going to click
- 10:47and then I'm going to hit shift and I'm
- 10:48going to click on that one, so I
- 10:49highlight both of them. And I want to
- 10:51group these.
- 10:53And the reason why I'm grouping these
- 10:54two only
- 10:55is because now when I want to resize
- 10:57them,
- 10:58it'll do it by itself. I mean, it'll do
- 11:00it together. So I don't have to worry
- 11:02about doing what I did earlier. All
- 11:04right, so now our hitting box is
- 11:05complete. And we're just going to leave
- 11:07this over here.
- 11:09All right, let's do a putting line.
- 11:12Same thing.
- 11:14We're going to do
- 11:18white
- 11:19dashes.
- 11:23I I use this one pretty frequently, so
- 11:25we're going to actually
- 11:27save this image.
- 11:31And we're going to name this one
- 11:35putting line.
- 11:37I already have it, so I'm going to do
- 11:382.0.
- 11:39And we're going to put this on our
- 11:41downloads.
- 11:43All right.
- 11:44We're going to come back to OBS.
- 11:47Same thing, add source,
- 11:51add image,
- 11:53and this time we're browsing for
- 12:01putting line.
- 12:02We're going to hit okay.
- 12:05And this is where we're going to grab
- 12:06our
- 12:09tools from earlier, and we're going to
- 12:11crop.
- 12:12So, we're going to use this line right
- 12:14here. So, what we're going to do
- 12:15is we're going to hold the alt key,
- 12:17and we're going to crop down
- 12:21till we have just
- 12:24that line.
- 12:26So, this is going to show up as a
- 12:27putting line.
- 12:30Like that.
- 12:31Uh don't worry about the background,
- 12:32that's not going to
- 12:33be seen on the floor as we as we get to
- 12:36that point.
- 12:37All right. So, now we have a box and a
- 12:39putting line. Let's start adding some of
- 12:40our SIM software stuff.
- 12:45One thing to note, too,
- 12:47is
- 12:48you're not going to drag this window
- 12:50onto your projector once it's installed.
- 12:52You're doing this on your normal uh
- 12:55primary monitor. Cuz what we're going to
- 12:57do is we're actually going to send it to
- 12:58that projector at the end, and then I'll
- 13:00show you how to do that.
- 13:01But now, um
- 13:03as we're adding these images, you're
- 13:05going to want to make sure that you have
- 13:06your SIM software loaded. So, again,
- 13:08we're using GS Pro. So, what I've done
- 13:10is I've went ahead and
- 13:13loaded GS Pro,
- 13:15clicked on a course to play, cuz that's
- 13:18what I want to grab. I want to grab when
- 13:20I am playing, cuz we are going to be
- 13:21grabbing images and snippets from our
- 13:24display, and we're going to be added in
- 13:26in here.
- 13:27Um and so there's two different ways to
- 13:29do that. I'm going to show you both. Um
- 13:32one is going to be game capture and
- 13:34you're just going to be adding quite a
- 13:35few of those. The only problem is you
- 13:37can't really rename them rename them. So
- 13:39you're going to have multiple and so if
- 13:40you want to resize it, it gets a little
- 13:42tough.
- 13:43Um that is unless CPU way. If you're on
- 13:45a laptop, um then you're going to you're
- 13:48definitely going to want to go that
- 13:49route. Um adding game capture is uh
- 13:53easier on your PC so to speak.
- 13:55If we do display capture, display
- 13:57capture you can add as many display
- 13:59captures as you would like including the
- 14:01same one over and over and you can
- 14:02rename them. So it does keep it clean
- 14:05from a standpoint of you can name each
- 14:06individual snippet um so you know which
- 14:09one to move. However, um it does take a
- 14:12little bit more um on your or it adds a
- 14:15little bit more to your CPU
- 14:18um because you are
- 14:20taking a display and you're putting it
- 14:22in OBS. So it is a little bit more
- 14:24demanding. So if you're on a laptop, I
- 14:26would probably go game capture
- 14:27standpoint. If you're using a desktop
- 14:30and if you have a high CPU and a high
- 14:32graphics card, then you're going to be
- 14:33fine doing either one.
- 14:36All right. So what we're going to do is
- 14:37we're going to add source.
- 14:42We'll select game capture, add new game
- 14:44capture. We're going to hit this drop
- 14:45down. We want to select and capture a
- 14:47specific window.
- 14:49That window is going to be
- 14:51GS Pro.
- 14:53We're going to hit okay. So it's going
- 14:54to make GS Pro really big. We're going
- 14:56to have to resize this as we spoke
- 14:58earlier. We're going to
- 15:00And guys, if stuff's not locked like I
- 15:02have it there, we need to rename this.
- 15:08putting line
- 15:09And we're going to lock that so
- 15:13I don't accidentally move it.
- 15:15All right.
- 15:16So alt key to crop.
- 15:17We're going to crop there.
- 15:21I'm going to make this a little bit
- 15:22bigger.
- 15:27Crop to there.
- 15:29And sometimes when you're cropping it is
- 15:31easier to make this image bigger once
- 15:32you get to a certain point. That way you
- 15:35don't leave the little, you know, the
- 15:37the background. Uh you want it to be
- 15:39just that image.
- 15:44There we go.
- 15:45Now, once it's that, we can let go of
- 15:47the Alt key and just resize it.
- 15:50And we're going to just put this right
- 15:51here for now.
- 15:54Now, I cannot add
- 15:56another game capture.
- 15:59Okay? Cuz I already have one.
- 16:01The one thing I can do, if you want to
- 16:02go this route, is you can
- 16:05right click,
- 16:10copy,
- 16:12and then right click,
- 16:14paste.
- 16:16It's going to add the same thing.
- 16:19And what I do from there is I just
- 16:21uncrop it. And then I'm going to show
- 16:23you the other way
- 16:25in just a second. So, now let's uncrop
- 16:27this
- 16:29by holding our Alt key.
- 16:32I am searching for the course and the
- 16:35name.
- 16:36So, we're going to move this image
- 16:37around
- 16:39continuing using the crop key
- 16:42cuz everything is cropped
- 16:45until I find in the top right, and you
- 16:47can look at your impact screen
- 16:50to see where it was going to be.
- 16:52All right. Now, we are going to get the
- 16:54course name.
- 17:03Cuz I want this on the floor.
- 17:06And so, I'm just going to show you how
- 17:07to put um And guys, I do these remotely.
- 17:09So,
- 17:11I've set up floor projection remotely
- 17:12for people
- 17:14I don't know,
- 17:1520 plus times. This is just the most
- 17:17common type things people want.
- 17:22All right, so we're going to let that
- 17:23live there.
- 17:25I'm going to use the shift key to make
- 17:27it a little skinnier, that way it
- 17:28matches.
- 17:34All right.
- 17:35Now, I'm going to show you how to do uh
- 17:37the other way.
- 17:39Shift key to bring that out cuz we want
- 17:41this to be just be symmetrical and we'll
- 17:43play with it a little bit later. All
- 17:44right, so now we're going to get the
- 17:45ball data.
- 17:47Um so, if you want ball data on your
- 17:48floor, this can be from the SIM
- 17:50software. If you have a um a second
- 17:53screen, so if you're using ProTee Labs,
- 17:57V-Track, Uneekor, any of these uh that
- 18:00have an actual
- 18:03um
- 18:04software
- 18:06on a second screen, you can do that as
- 18:08well. But, for this uh
- 18:12for for this one, we're just going to
- 18:14use the ball data from GS Pro. So, this
- 18:15time I'm going to do a display capture
- 18:17just so you guys can see how to do that.
- 18:20So, we're going to select display
- 18:21capture. We're going to keep that
- 18:24automatic. We're going to switch this
- 18:26this display to the actual display that
- 18:28you're using. So, in my case, what is
- 18:31projected to my actual impact screen is
- 18:34the Optoma. We're going to select that
- 18:37and hit okay.
- 18:38And then from here, it's the same thing.
- 18:40We're going to drag and get this image
- 18:42smaller.
- 18:52Okay, we want this ball data
- 18:54on the right-hand side. So, we're going
- 18:56to alt key crop.
- 19:00Crop down.
- 19:03Alt key crop up.
- 19:06And crop like that. And we want to make
- 19:08this bigger cuz I can already see some
- 19:10edges. So, no key, no shift, no alt.
- 19:14Make this bigger.
- 19:16I can see this edge needs to be cropped
- 19:17just a little bit more.
- 19:20All right.
- 19:21So, now
- 19:23we can leave that here.
- 19:28And what we can start doing now is we
- 19:30can start kind of visualizing what this
- 19:32will look like on the floor.
- 19:34What we're going to do next is we're
- 19:35actually going to send this to the
- 19:37projector that's on the floor.
- 19:41All right, to actually send this to your
- 19:43projector that's facing the floor,
- 19:45remember you're not going to move this
- 19:47entire window. You're not having OBS on
- 19:50that projector. You're going to keep
- 19:52this on your main primary computer.
- 19:55You're going to right click floor
- 19:57projection.
- 19:58You're going to go down here and you're
- 20:00going to hit open scene projector.
- 20:03You're going to have a list of
- 20:04projectors or displays that are
- 20:06connected to your computer.
- 20:07Uh in my case, I have four different
- 20:09displays.
- 20:10Um
- 20:11the projector that I have in the ceiling
- 20:14face down is the Mstar demo. So, I'm
- 20:16going to select that.
- 20:19And it's going to throw it down to the
- 20:20floor. Let's check it out.
- 20:22All right, so as you can see over here,
- 20:24uh we're going to put a camera down on
- 20:26the floor so we can kind of see how
- 20:27we're going to move this around.
- 20:29All right, so first things first, let's
- 20:30make sure we get our putting
- 20:33Um so, what we're going to do is we're
- 20:34going to make sure we unlock everything.
- 20:40All right. We're going to move our
- 20:41putting
- 20:44there.
- 20:48We're going to move our box right there.
- 20:50We need to resize this a little bit. And
- 20:52again, this resizing,
- 20:54um we're going to hold the shift key.
- 20:55You want this to be
- 20:58you know, honestly
- 21:01the size that you would want. I mean,
- 21:03I'm I like it to be the entire hitting
- 21:04strip.
- 21:12I have an overhead launch monitor, so as
- 21:14far as like the zone, it it's totally
- 21:16fine. Let us leave it there for now, and
- 21:18you can see the putting line. Um I want
- 21:21to make this longer. I'm going to hold
- 21:22down the shift key.
- 21:24I'm going to drag that all the way to
- 21:25the edge. All right, so we have a
- 21:27putting line that's a little bit longer.
- 21:29All right, I want this to live up here.
- 21:31I do want to make it bigger.
- 21:37You're going to start seeing these
- 21:38things take shape on the floor.
- 21:56Okay, let's go ahead and grab our box
- 21:58our ball data.
- 22:00We're going to put that a little
- 22:01smaller.
- 22:03That way it's at the edge.
- 22:08All right, so that's just a few things
- 22:09that we have on here. Let's say we want
- 22:11to add a logo, so let's do that.
- 22:13Um we're going to go ahead and go to
- 22:16add source as we have before. We're
- 22:18going to go to image.
- 22:21And we are going to add new image.
- 22:25All right, I'm going to do uh my
- 22:27socials. So we'll add that.
- 22:30We're going to hit okay.
- 22:32Again, it's going to be one size. Let's
- 22:34make sure that we lock what we have in
- 22:36place. We don't want anything moving.
- 22:38Again, we're going to hit these
- 22:43locks.
- 22:50And we want this to live Let's just
- 22:55Let's turn it. Let's turn the image.
- 23:00See the hand pop up.
- 23:03And let's put this right here on the
- 23:05concrete. So it's a little bit out of
- 23:07view. And there we go. So now we have
- 23:09socials on the floor.
- 23:10All right, so that's what it looks like
- 23:12just kind of adding different things to
- 23:13your floor projection.
- 23:15Um couple quick notes guys, you just got
- 23:17to remember
- 23:19um when you're hanging this floor or
- 23:20when you're hanging this projector, as
- 23:23you can see at the bottom of this
- 23:24canvas, I want as a right-handed golfer,
- 23:28I want
- 23:30the bottom of the canvas to be
- 23:32at the
- 23:33you know, the very edge of my hitting
- 23:35strip or wherever I'm going to hit and
- 23:37that way everything forward or in front
- 23:39of me, I have all this canvas to work
- 23:42with. Uh so anything in this black
- 23:44canvas right here, this 19 by 20 will be
- 23:47shown by the projector of some sort. So
- 23:49I want to be able to have it the hitting
- 23:51and the putting at the lower end.
- 23:53That way I have everything on top. Um
- 23:56you know, I have plenty of area to to
- 23:58add stuff, whether it's logos and the
- 24:00whatnot.
- 24:01All right guys, that's how you do floor
- 24:03projection um from the start to finish,
- 24:06what you need, projector, OBS, HDMI
- 24:09cable or display with an active adapter
- 24:11to HDMI.
- 24:13Um
- 24:14how to add scenes and sources, where to
- 24:16grab imagery from and how to create uh
- 24:19this really awesome kind of wow factor
- 24:21with with floor projection in your sim
- 24:23guys. I hope you appreciate the video.
- 24:25Please give it some hype. Give it a
- 24:27thumbs up. Give it a like. Give it a
- 24:29subscribe.
- 24:30On the next one, I am going to show you
- 24:32how to add
- 24:35um
- 24:37sources and be able to automatically
- 24:39toggle them on and off. So when a ball
- 24:41rolls in rolls into your hitting area,
- 24:44we can make things disappear. Once you
- 24:46hit it, we can bring them back. That's
- 24:48going to be advanced and that's going to
- 24:50be on the next one.
