  1. 0:00Your RTX 5080 is just a defective 5090,
  2. 0:03right?
  3. 0:05But your 5070 Ti is a 5080 with parts
  4. 0:08turned off.
  5. 0:10Let me explain. And the funniest part,
  6. 0:12your 5090 also has part of its chip
  7. 0:15turned off on purpose.
  8. 0:17Graphics cards come from silicon wafers
  9. 0:18with dozens of chips on each one.
  10. 0:21A 5090 chip has 192 compute blocks, and
  11. 0:24a microscopic flaw is enough to break
  12. 0:26one.
  13. 0:28So, Nvidia tests each chip, disables
  14. 0:30blocks, and sells it based on what works
  15. 0:32. Every 5090 has exactly 170.
  16. 0:36Even if your chip has more healthy
  17. 0:38blocks, they're disabled so they all
  18. 0:40perform the same. The near-perfect chips
  19. 0:43end up in a € 14,000 professional card
  20. 0:46with 188 blocks. And the 5080 uses a
  21. 0:49smaller chip, and that one is used fully
  22. 0:51.
  23. 0:52The 5070 Ti comes from that same chip
  24. 0:55with 14 of its 84 blocks disabled. The
  25. 0:58same thing happens with processors.
  26. 0:59Depending on the working cores, the same
  27. 1:01chip ends up being an i9 or an i7.
  28. 1:04It's not a defective card, it's a chip
  29. 1:06tested one by one and placed where it
  30. 1:08belongs.
