- 0:00So if you know work with clarity what the ultimate goal for you
- 0:04two is, then what you do is you take a look at the tasks that
- 0:07are required to make that happen, and you divide and
- 0:10conquer based on your skills and attributes. Missy handles all
- 0:15the things that she's most suited to handle. I handle all
- 0:17the things that are most suited for me to handle, and that it's
- 0:21like the it's like the sum of the part that that whole, that
- 0:26whole cliche, that one in one, one plus one equals 17. At that
- 0:31point, you are able, you are able to get so much more
- 0:37accomplished when, when you divide and conquer, and really
- 0:41are able to lean into the masculine feminine at the
- 0:44highest levels, all pointed at the same goal. That's one of the
- 0:48most beautiful aspects of our existence. How we do that?
- 0:51Yeah, I would agree with you 100%!
- 0:53I like to welcome to the show, Jon and Missy Butcher, how you
- 1:06doing Jon and Missy?
- 1:07Great. So good to be here Alex.
- 1:08Thank you Alex, for having us.
- 1:10Thank you so much for coming on the show. I've been a fan of
- 1:13your work and what you guys have been doing for the world for a
- 1:16while now. I've been, I was, I was with Mind Valley for such a
- 1:20long time I've had our mutual friend vision on the show, and I
- 1:24was so impressed with life book and what you guys kind of put
- 1:28together with Lifebook, that I was like, I gotta share this
- 1:31with my audience. I want to bring my audiences, because my
- 1:33wife and I both took the course A while ago, and it really did
- 1:38shape and change a lot of things in our life, and the way we look
- 1:42at things, perspective, and all this kind of stuff. So before we
- 1:46jump into your life philosophy, which is fascinating and and
- 1:51oddly simple in the sense that it's everyone should be
- 1:56following these ideas, but not many people do. So we'll get
- 2:00into that as well. So can you guys tell me a little bit about
- 2:03yourselves before you started this amazing thing called
- 2:06Lifebook?
- 2:07Sure, we're artists and entrepreneurs. Basically, we're
- 2:10hopeless entrepreneurs. Actually, we've started, I think
- 2:13we're at around 20 companies that we've started. We've been
- 2:16together 33 years. So we've had a lot of time to do a lot of
- 2:20Yeah, and so we've had a lot of successes, a lot of epic
- 2:24failures, and a lot of a lot of in between. So really, it's been
- 2:28about art and entrepreneurship from a career perspective for
- 2:32us, before, before a life book happened, yeah?
- 2:36Because it did it happen to us. Yeah.
- 2:38Now, Jon, if I remember correctly, you created precious
- 2:42moments?
- 2:43My father's the artist, the actual visual artist of precious
- 2:47moments, and I'm chairman of the board of the companies. And so I
- 2:50sort of handled the business side. My dad handled this
- 2:53creative side. It's a full family business. But that didn't
- 2:57happen until I was in my in my 20s. That was my first real
- 3:02encounter with high level business. So that's, that's
- 3:05where I cut my teeth on my my core business competencies,
- 3:09which aren't much, they're very narrow, but they're very strong
- 3:12in the areas that they're they're strong in. But we
- 3:15started many, many businesses also, like we have, we have a
- 3:19company called purity coffee. That's the healthiest coffee in
- 3:22the world. Super happy with that company and excited about it and
- 3:25and a number of other really, really great companies that do
- 3:30good for the world. That's that's our criteria. It's got to
- 3:33be a win, win win situation. Otherwise we just don't have any
- 3:36passion for it.
- 3:38Now, you said you had a lot of wins and failures. How do you
- 3:42overcome the failures? Because so many of us fail, and so many
- 3:46people are afraid of failing, I always look, I don't say I look
- 3:49forward to failing, but you learn when you fail. So how did
- 3:52you go? Kind of go over some of these epic fails that you're
- 3:55talking about.
- 3:56Well, I'm gonna say Lifebook came out of one of the hardest
- 3:59times in our entire life, true, true, true, not necessarily an
- 4:02epic fail, but I guess Yeah, kind of.
- 4:04Yeah. And we'll talk about that a little bit later when we get
- 4:07to Lifebook, but, but here is the philosophical premise that
- 4:11governs how we look at failure. What, what I really try to do is
- 4:19it doesn't matter what project I'm working on, it doesn't
- 4:22matter what company I'm working on, it doesn't matter what I'm
- 4:24doing. My own personal development is always the
- 4:28highest outcome. So it is always so if I'm if I'm starting a
- 4:32business, yeah, we want to make money, yes, we want to be
- 4:35successful. Yes, we want to be profitable. But the most
- 4:37important thing is what we're going to learn and how we're
- 4:41going to grow during that process, always, that's what
- 4:44that's what we start. That's what we've tried to that's the
- 4:48philosophical premise that we've really tried to install in our
- 4:51lives. And what that means is that failure is impossible if,
- 4:55if your true outcome that you're after is your own personal
- 4:59development. You can't really fail. All you can do is have an
- 5:03experience that didn't turn out the way that you thought it
- 5:05would, but it was an amazing learning experience, and
- 5:07hopefully you got some personal development. So to give you a
- 5:10concrete example of what that might look like if a young
- 5:14person, and you know, Alex, that these days, totally unlike when
- 5:18I was, you know, in my early career, which you got a job with
- 5:23a company, and you pretty much stayed for life till you got
- 5:26your gold watch. Right? Now it's two and three now it's two and
- 5:29three years max, right, right? So if a young if a young person,
- 5:32is looking at two possible career options, one of them
- 5:36might pay $5,000 more a year, while the other offers a much
- 5:41more extraordinary learning experience, where at the end of
- 5:44that two to three year extent, you will have developed a
- 5:47friggin skill, a talent, versus the other one pays you more
- 5:51money. That that's not the case. There is no question that I
- 5:54would choose the second one, because if you continue to stack
- 5:57your personal development, whether you win or lose in each
- 6:00individual situation, if your own personal development and
- 6:03your learning and growth is the decision making criteria, you
- 6:08literally can't fail. You've set up the rules of the game in a
- 6:11way that you can't fail. So that's kind of how we look at
- 6:13that.
- 6:14It's almost like those obstacles that come, or those hard things
- 6:17that come, they're there. They're gifts that the universe
- 6:19gives you because of what you intended or asked for. If you if
- 6:23you really are on a, you know, upward trajectory and trying to
- 6:26grow and become better, then you're always going to get gifts
- 6:30from the universe that help you hone your skills so that you can
- 6:33become better.
- 6:34You learn so much more from your challenges than you do from your
- 6:37successes. Successes are great. They're awesome. Successes are
- 6:40great. And you and you learn from your successes too. You get
- 6:44you get your money. You get your, you know, you get all
- 6:47those good things that you're after, but, but the failures are
- 6:51even more valuable. That's what's what really shakes.
- 6:54And you know, one thing that we've always done, Alex, is,
- 6:56anytime we have an epic fail, which we've had a few, and
- 6:59especially business, is we literally, once we're over the
- 7:03pain of it, and, you know, we can look at it objectively, we
- 7:07will literally make a list of all the learnings, everything we
- 7:10learned, good and bad, like we'll never do that again. Or,
- 7:13Wow, this was amazing that came out of that. Yeah, and so we
- 7:15literally just get real conscious on it and keep that in
- 7:19our memory bank. And
- 7:20That's from it. That's where a lot of our rules for life come
- 7:23from. We're never doing that again.
- 7:25Yeah, right. Didn't work, you know, or the timing wasn't
- 7:28right, or whatever.
- 7:29So if you're persistent with that philosophy, at some point,
- 7:31you're going to get to the point where you have learned so much.
- 7:34You've turned every single disappointment into an
- 7:37incredible growth experience. And you really know what you're
- 7:40good at, what you're not good at, it just, it's a it's a good
- 7:42way for us to live.
- 7:44It's a process, for sure.
- 7:45Now I have to ask you, because, I mean, I've seen, I've seen, I
- 7:49don't know, hundreds of hours of content, but by you guys, at
- 7:51this point in the game, after taking life book and all the
- 7:54other things I've seen of you two, what I find so fascinating
- 7:57about you two is the the ying and yang, of you two, and how
- 8:03you guys balance each other so well being married now, for long
- 8:08time with my wife, I knew what a absolute savage I was before she
- 8:13showed up, absolute hot mess. It's it's so many ways, and she
- 8:21had her things that I helped her with, but we really, really
- 8:24helped each other out. Can you talk a little bit about how both
- 8:27of you balance each other so well, and how you guys deal with
- 8:32each because you guys are, you know, for lack of a better word,
- 8:34a power couple, in the sense that you are both like forces of
- 8:38nature in your own right. But when you gave when you joined
- 8:41forces, it seemed like it became this, like supernova, and that's
- 8:45what a good relationship is with. Is that a fair way?
- 8:49Well you know, I think that there, there's that that's
- 8:52almost it, but not quite. It's not like we were, we were super,
- 8:56very young, yeah, so it's not like we were super forces that
- 9:03came together and created something new. Missy created me.
- 9:07And you get it? And I, oh, I get it. So, so, so the relationship
- 9:14is what created us as individuals. So how it works for
- 9:18us? Alex is I'm a very masculine man and and so my job in this
- 9:24relationship is, the structure is the driving is all those
- 9:28masculine qualities. Missy is a very feminine woman, and her job
- 9:32in this relationship is all the nurturing, healing stuff that I
- 9:36wouldn't have a chance to have in my life if it weren't for
- 9:39her, and she wouldn't have a chance to hand it right? And so
- 9:42what we're able to do as a very polarized couple, polarized in
- 9:47the most amazing spiritual sense, yeah, is so. So everyone
- 9:52has masculine and feminine inside of them. Everyone does
- 9:55masculine and feminine are the the gender expression of the
- 9:59continuum. There's a continuum of masculine and feminine in all
- 10:03of us. There are some men that are very masculine, some men
- 10:05that are very feminine, some women that are very right. And
- 10:10so as a single, as a single, if you want to really live the best
- 10:13life you can, you've got to have somewhat of a balance inside of
- 10:17yourself, because you can't go through life only masculine.
- 10:20Goes off the rails without the and you can't go through life
- 10:24only feminine, because feminine disappear dissipates into
- 10:27nothing without the masculine structure. So as a single Your
- 10:31job is to create a balance in yourself that can help you
- 10:34navigate through life using masculine principles and
- 10:37feminine principles. But when you're a committed couple, a
- 10:39devoted couple like we are, that's all in you can push those
- 10:44extremes so far out however you want, you know, right, whichever
- 10:48way it wants to go. So I've had the benefit in my life. Well,
- 10:52first of all, I wouldn't even be here if it wasn't for Missy my I
- 10:55mean, I've got two brothers that are dead of drugs and alcohol,
- 10:57and everyone in my family I'm the son of an alcoholic is the
- 11:01son of an alcoholic, right? Is that way I would be dead right
- 11:04now, no question. If it weren't for this relationship, I would
- 11:07have flown off the rails so long ago. But what we are able to do
- 11:15is I'm able to push my I'm able to live in my masculine, and I'm
- 11:20talking about the divine masculine, not the toxic
- 11:22masculine, the masculine that protects, the masculine that
- 11:25builds, the masculine that structures and gets things done.
- 11:29I'm able to live there and really hone those skills,
- 11:33because Missy has got me on the other side.
- 11:35I get all that benefit of the masculine, the divine masculine,
- 11:39because he's here doing it for me, and
- 11:41I've got the benefit of all the divine feminine, because here's,
- 11:44here's a great example, Missy and I didn't our kids didn't go
- 11:48to school. We were like, Screw school. We're not doing this.
- 11:50What we're going to do is we're going to travel the world with
- 11:52our kids, and they're going to learn that way. We're going to
- 11:54live in 12 different countries. We're going to go deep in those
- 11:57cultures, right? And so we went through about a five or six year
- 12:03period where we literally had to work with the public school to
- 12:07take our kids out for six months a year. If I would have been in
- 12:10charge of that project, there would have been literally a 0%
- 12:15chance that that could have gotten done. But Missy handles
- 12:18it like a boss like the back of her or, oh yeah, oh no,
- 12:23Yeah, you know you're married.
- 12:24I've been, I've been married for many, over 15 years at this
- 12:28point, and and it oh, I, I was all young. Oh, I get it 110% I
- 12:35mean, we build each other up within when you're in a great,
- 12:38beautiful, committed relationship, you are balancing
- 12:42each other, and there might. And by the way, sometimes it's not
- 12:45like, Oh, you finished my sentences and not that kind of,
- 12:49no, we're very different. Yeah, yes, but the core vibration
- 12:55connects, that's right, each other, and it's so, yeah, go
- 12:59ahead.
- 12:59Sorry. I was gonna say the key is to have the key is to have a
- 13:04vision for what you want to create together, where you can
- 13:07know where you're going, right? And that's the whole Lifebook
- 13:09process,
- 13:09And that's the base, foundational vibration you're
- 13:12talking about.
- 13:13So if you know work with clarity what the ultimate goal for you
- 13:17to is, then what you do is you take a look at the tasks that
- 13:20are required to make that happen, and you divide and
- 13:23conquer based on your skills and attributes. Missy handles all
- 13:28the things that she's most suited to handle. I handle all
- 13:31the things that are most suited for me to handle. And that it's
- 13:35like the it's like the sum of the part that that whole, that
- 13:39whole cliche, that one in one, one plus one equals 17. At that
- 13:44point, you are able, you are able to get so much more
- 13:50accomplished when, when you divide and conquer and really
- 13:54are able to lean into the masculine and feminine at the
- 13:57highest levels, all pointed at the same goal. That's one of the
- 14:01most beautiful aspects of our existence. How we do that?
- 14:04Yeah, I would agree with you 100% I mean, it's, it's, I
- 14:08always tell young men when that when they talk to me, I like
- 14:12guys, find yourself, if you can a partner that will balance you
- 14:17man, because it will help you dramatically, dramatically. And
- 14:22I love that you said the divine masculine, because a lot of
- 14:26times that the word masculine is charged with other energies. But
- 14:30that's very true, because there is a very positive part of being
- 14:34masculine and there's a very positive part of being feminine,
- 14:38and combining the two is where you can really move forward in
- 14:41life. Now, before we get into Lifebook and the philosophies
- 14:45behind Lifebook, the thing I've noticed about life book is you
- 14:49really systematically built a life and everything that's
- 14:53important in life. Why do you believe that most people who
- 14:57spend God knows how many hours. Days and years of their life
- 15:01doing just ridiculous things or dumb things or wasting time, and
- 15:07don't sit down and try to plan where they're going in life,
- 15:11either individually or as a couple.
- 15:14I think it's because they the thought has never occurred to
- 15:17them. You don't see examples of that around you, you that you
- 15:22know it's not their fault for not doing it, because they've
- 15:25never even conceived that it's possible to do that. That's why
- 15:29it's so important for those of us who are clued in to do our
- 15:33best to make ourselves the best people we can be and live the
- 15:36best lives we can so that people can see an example and have hope
- 15:40in their own life. That's why it's not. It's not, it's so
- 15:45uncommon. Alex, oh, for someone to really, truly have stepped
- 15:51off the treadmill of their life for long enough to contemplate
- 15:55the kind of person they'd like to turn themselves into and the
- 15:57kind of life that they'd like to be living, and then to start
- 16:00moving in that direction with intention every day. That's so
- 16:05freaking rare. And I will tell you this in the world that's
- 16:08coming. Mm hmm. If you, if you don't do that, you're fucked.
- 16:13You see you in meadowland? See you in I mean, you are done.
- 16:19Because if you don't have a life vision that you're committed to
- 16:22achieving if you're not in the driver's seat of your own life.
- 16:26There are so many powers, very powerful powers out there that
- 16:31are going to be happy to step in and fill your vision gap and
- 16:34take you where they want to take you. And that's what that's the
- 16:37ride most people are on, right?
- 16:38So do you? Do you believe it is that programming that we're
- 16:41getting as we're growing up by either the media that's coming
- 16:44around us, or just society, our family. You know that they
- 16:50didn't know any better all that information, like you said,
- 16:52there is not a lot of examples of people sitting up there and
- 16:56go, guys think about what kind of life you want to live.
- 16:59They're just so busy in survival mode, or doing what they've been
- 17:02told to do, or told like, you got to go to college, you got to
- 17:06get a bachelor's degree because you got to get a master's degree
- 17:09to get a good job. And, you know, it's like, I
- 17:13You got it, you nailed it right there. Those are the things.
- 17:15It's survival mode, it's survival mode, or it's society's
- 17:18expectations or its addictions or its distractions. Our culture
- 17:23is set up to to constantly feed you the things that are totally
- 17:30contrary to you sitting down and figuring out what you want at a
- 17:34deep solo. That's that's where we are.
- 17:38So then, so let's get into life book. What is the philosophy
- 17:41behind Lifebook?
- 17:43The philosophy behind Lifebook.
- 17:45Taking it's becoming a conscious person and taking responsibility
- 17:49for yourself so that you can move from the passenger seat
- 17:52being passive in your life and getting in your own driver's
- 17:55seat, just like John was saying, if you don't become conscious of
- 17:59your own life and make your own decisions, meaning you're not at
- 18:03the wheel. You're over here, lollygagging in the passenger
- 18:07seat, doing all the stuff you were saying,
- 18:08Your boss, your parents, your teachers, your pre corporations,
- 18:12The news media, right? You don't have one. So it's, it's
- 18:15Your direction is being controlled by tons of forces
- 18:19that are outside of you, and none of that's coming from
- 18:21inside, consciously taking responsibility. Our two core
- 18:25values at Lifebook are living consciously meaning, paying
- 18:29attention to what's going on in your life and taking
- 18:32responsibility for yourself. Those are the two core tenets.
- 18:35Starts with freedom, though freedom's number one, and then
- 18:39the two sides of that, well, actually, freedom and self
- 18:41responsibility are two sides of one coin. If you're truly going
- 18:44to be free, then you have to take full responsibility for
- 18:48yourself.
- 18:48Now we've been talking a lot about this thing called
- 18:51Lifebook. What is lifebook? Because I know what it is, you
- 18:54know what it is, but the audience might not know exactly
- 18:56what it is. So can you explain to them what it is?
- 18:58Yeah, do you do? You want me to just briefly explain to you how
- 19:01it came about, because that kind of,
- 19:03Yeah, the inspiration, yeah, the inspiration to do that would be
- 19:04awesome.
- 19:05Okay, there was not really any inspiration behind it. Alex,
- 19:07basically, what happened is about 30 to 30 30, years ago,
- 19:12and change, I had a, basically a complete nervous breakdown. And
- 19:16I was running the, I was running the workaholic program, you know
- 19:20the 12 to 16 hour days program. President was running five
- 19:25companies and burned the candle at both ends. We were partying
- 19:28like rock stars because we were young and and being being crazy,
- 19:32Plus we were making music, music industry so
- 19:35And so. Oh yeah. And what ended up happening when I was in my
- 19:41early 30s is that I ended up just collapsing under the weight
- 19:45of my own life. And I had, I had what I now characterize as a
- 19:49complete nervous breakdown, which medically, what it was
- 19:52was, it was a generalized anxiety disorder that caused by
- 19:58panic attacks I never I didn't know. Any of this stuff was
- 20:00because back then, anxiety was not a very deeply Explorer. So I
- 20:09had a series of debilitate, debilitating panic attacks. I
- 20:13found myself in a generalized anxiety disorder that blossomed
- 20:16into full blown the word is agoraphobia. Your house. You
- 20:20can't freaking leave your house. I couldn't get in the car to
- 20:23drive out of my driveway, couldn't go to a grocery store,
- 20:25couldn't go to a without feeling like I was going to completely
- 20:28break apart through panic attacks. So I was I was in that
- 20:33state for two to three months. It couldn't, like, fully shut
- 20:37down. I was CEO of five businesses at that time. I
- 20:40couldn't walk out of my yard, let alone even pretend to run my
- 20:44companies. So it shut down my entire life. I didn't know what
- 20:49to do, didn't know where to turn. My self image was
- 20:51completely destroyed. I was at absolute rock bottom. My dad was
- 20:55watching late night TV. One night, he was watching
- 20:58infomercials, and he bought me two personal development
- 21:01programs because he thought they might help. One was about
- 21:04anxiety. Was it was Lucinda Bassett attacking anxiety that
- 21:08was a game changer, because that's when I learned what was
- 21:11happening to me, what it was, and how, because it was so like
- 21:15and how to deal with it. So that gave me a little bit of a
- 21:17foothold. But the other one was Tony Robbins personal power,
- 21:20too, the great selling course from the 80s, right? We all did
- 21:23that, and that was my first encounter with personal
- 21:26development, or the concept that you could consciously decide
- 21:32what kind of a person you wanted to turn yourself into, meaning
- 21:36what kind of character attributes you wanted to install
- 21:39in your own life. And you could decide what direction you wanted
- 21:43to take your life, where you wanted to end up, and start
- 21:46moving in that direction consciously, with intention. I'm
- 21:50like, Whoa. I've never heard that before. Didn't learn that
- 21:52in school, right, right? And so I did that program, and I was
- 21:57like, wow, this is freaking crazy stuff. I I felt better.
- 22:01Bottom line is, I started consuming personal development
- 22:04voraciously, and I started keeping the notes from those
- 22:07programs. And they were the greats, man. They were, they
- 22:10were, you know, Deepak, Chopra, Nightingale, Carnegie, Wayne,
- 22:17Dyer. Dyer, yeah. Brian Tracy, these were the these were the
- 22:20masks. Jim Ronan, yeah, all of them. Yeah, yeah, exactly. So I
- 22:24kept my notes in this little binder. And I bring this little
- 22:26binder with me everywhere I went. I had it with me. I was
- 22:29holding it with me for 10 years. And the reason is because if I
- 22:32was out somewhere and started to feel shaky, like, you know,
- 22:37panic attack city, I could open that binder up and read those
- 22:41words of wisdom, and I and I'd be like, Okay, I got this, I'm
- 22:44going to be okay. It was like, my lifeline. It was my life
- 22:47raft. And so over the years, using that tool, the next big
- 22:52thing that happened was I took my little binder and I realized,
- 22:56hey, there are categories of things in here.
- 22:59You saw patterns.
- 23:00I saw, yeah. So, it's like, what categories of life do I need to
- 23:04master in order to have a get out of this hole and then be
- 23:07have a great life, fulfilling, full life, you know? So that's
- 23:09when I identified, well, health and fitness can't be overlooked.
- 23:13I got to have my love relationship dialed in. I need
- 23:15to have my parenting strategies. I've got to have a career that
- 23:18creates financial abundance. That's when I identified the 12
- 23:22categories of life that I had to master in order to live an
- 23:25extraordinary life that worked at a high level in every
- 23:28important area. And then from there, I figured out that in
- 23:32each one of those areas, I needed to ask and answer four
- 23:36questions that would totally get me in control of that area. The
- 23:41first one was, what are the beliefs about money, about love,
- 23:45about health, my behavior and do some of them need to go? Are
- 23:50some of them antiquated and holding me back? The second
- 23:53question in each category was, what with clarity do I want in
- 23:58this area of my life? Third, what's the purpose behind that
- 24:05vision? Why is that important to me? Why do I want that? Why am I
- 24:07willing to do whatever it takes to achieve that? And then the
- 24:10last question was, Okay, if that's my vision for health and
- 24:13fitness, if that's my vision for my career, if that's my vision
- 24:15for my love relationship, what are the strategies that are
- 24:18going to get me there? What do I need to do to move in that
- 24:21direction. So that's that's what a life book is. And it took 10
- 24:26years for me to develop that. It's a book about 12 areas of
- 24:30your life where you define your beliefs, your vision, the
- 24:34purpose behind that vision, and what you need to do to manifest
- 24:38that vision in 12 areas of your life. Took me 10 years to write.
- 24:42Mine. Never showed it to anyone but Missy. No one ever saw
- 24:46inside that book. We didn't think it'd be relevant, no. I
- 24:48mean, it was just our tool for it, right? And Alex, it led us
- 24:52to our ideal life in in 2002 which was just about 10 years
- 24:58after I started that process. Missy and I had everything that
- 25:02we'd ever wanted in every category. And that's when we
- 25:05realized that we could share this with other people, and they
- 25:09could do the same thing we did. So what a life book is is it's
- 25:13100 page book that you write for yourself that's a vivid
- 25:17description of the person that you want to be and the life that
- 25:20you want to live. What you've done if you, if you go through
- 25:23this process and create a life book, you've created an ideal
- 25:27self image. You've created a crystal clear picture of your
- 25:30highest self, and then from there, you can start to move in
- 25:34that direction every day. That's what this tool is.
- 25:36Thank you. Now, Missy, yeah. Now, Missy, I want to ask you
- 25:40just to go back a little bit, because I think this is
- 25:42important for people listening. Important for people listening,
- 25:44when John was going through what he was going through, this kind
- 25:47of breakdown as his partner, how did you deal with it yourself?
- 25:52And also, how did you help him along the way in the journey of
- 25:57this creation of this book?
- 25:59Well, it was really, really hard because I couldn't really, truly
- 26:03help him. This was, this was internal. It was a complete
- 26:06internal meltdown. It was just, you know, I mean, really, it was
- 26:09an emotional crash. It was and so for me, it was about, okay,
- 26:13I'm gonna make the space around him safe. I gotta hold space for
- 26:16this to heal. So I took care of everything that I could. He
- 26:20offloaded the businesses to his family and stuff like that,
- 26:22which was great, but for the home, I handled all that our
- 26:25kids and everything, and I would I studied with him, and I would
- 26:28look, I was always searching for new things to help this. And
- 26:32then I realized that at one point, it was seriously a self
- 26:36esteem issue that we had to go after. And so that's when we
- 26:39started working with Dr Nathaniel Brandon, that was a
- 26:42game changer, that that really shifted our lives.
- 26:44He became our mentor for 20 years. Do you know his work
- 26:47Alex?
- 26:47I do not. I do not.
- 26:49He is widely regarded as the father of the concept of modern
- 26:53self esteem. He wrote 20 books The Art of Living, consciously
- 26:57honoring the self pillars of self esteem, he who is a master
- 27:02of 20th century psychology,
- 27:03And we were students of his, like we ever since we got
- 27:05together, we'd read all of his books and all this and so
- 27:08anyway, long story short is, I mean, I just did whatever the
- 27:10heck I could to help him and support him, because I couldn't,
- 27:14really, I couldn't do it for him.
- 27:16I mean, this is a perfect example, though, of what we were
- 27:18talking about earlier. What she did is she surrounded me with
- 27:20her feminine energy, yeah, so that I could heal, and I could
- 27:23not and never have even had a chance of making it through that
- 27:26without her. Never have it. She couldn't do anything directly
- 27:29inside of me, but she made everything outside of me the
- 27:33environment that would allow me to heal my inner world.
- 27:37And then we did all the personal development together. And so I
- 27:40grew massively with him. It was, it was incredible. Yeah,
- 27:43It's, it's so important that you know, having that other partner
- 27:47that is supportive during these situations, because that could
- 27:51have easily been like, Get off your ass. What's wrong with you?
- 27:55All that kind of negative energy that you hear about. But that's
- 27:59what a good partnership is, is, yes, right balance. When
- 28:03someone's weak, you get strong when the other one and you it's
- 28:06a balancing of that yin and yang. Now you again,
- 28:08Usually, usually, if the man screwed, the exact thing he
- 28:12needs can come from the woman, and if the woman's screwed, same
- 28:14exact thing what she probably needs is got to come from the
- 28:17other direction. That's the beautiful thing about the yin
- 28:20and yang, about the masculine and feminine. They go off the
- 28:23rails without each other, but together, you've got everything
- 28:26you need for
- 28:28It's a motor. I mean, you talk about it being a, you know, like
- 28:32the yin and yang sign, and actually it's a battery that
- 28:34goes around and around. You know,
- 28:35Very much, very much. Now you talk about these 12 categories.
- 28:39Can you tell everybody what those 12 categories are?
- 28:42Yep. So 12 categories of life in the first five are all you the
- 28:47first five are internal, and they don't rely on anybody else.
- 28:51Some of the other ones, you got to have cooperation to make
- 28:54good. But these first five gotta start with no excuses. These
- 28:58first five don't You don't need anyone's permission to get this
- 29:01right. The first is your health and fitness, foundation of your
- 29:05life in a lot of ways. The second is your intellectual
- 29:08life. As human beings, our minds are our tool of survival,
- 29:12incredibly important and overlooked in our society in a
- 29:16lot of ways. The third category is your emotional life, and
- 29:19that's where I got the story that controls everything. That's
- 29:22where I got destroyed. So having a healthy emotional life is one
- 29:27of the most important aspects of reaching your true potential.
- 29:33The fourth category is your character. Who are you really
- 29:36deep down? What are the attributes that you want to
- 29:40build into your life. And the fifth category is your spiritual
- 29:44life, which is your relationship with God, the universe and
- 29:47everything that exists, whatever your particular version of that.
- 29:50So the first five health and fitness, intellectual,
- 29:53emotional, character and spiritual those are all you
- 29:57separate from the rest of the world. You. No one's permission
- 30:01to work on those areas. No one else can. Can stop you. Those
- 30:05are all yours.

- 30:36today, I'll see you on the inside.
- 30:43Now, from there, we look at relationships, and there are
- 30:45three kinds of relationships in your life. The first is romantic
- 30:48love. So love relationship, which is the foundation of our
- 30:52life. Our love relationship is the foundation of everything we
- 30:56have, our families, our businesses, everything. The
- 31:00second category is parenting. Your relationship with your
- 31:03children, and the whole human race depends on at least some of
- 31:07us doing that job well,
- 31:13Ain't that the truth?
- 31:15And then the third relationship category is your social life,
- 31:19which I'll tell you that one's a sleeper, that that category is
- 31:24we overlooked that category for a lot of years, but when we
- 31:28really understood the power of having the right people around
- 31:33you versus the wrong people around you, we realize this
- 31:36isn't one of the weakest categories. This is one of the
- 31:38most powerful categories, right? And then from there, we go into
- 31:42your business life. And there are two categories there, your
- 31:44career and your financial life, which are both very intimately
- 31:49tied together, but they have to be looked at separately, because
- 31:53you can have a phenomenal career and a totally jacked up
- 31:56financial life. Mike Tyson made $350 million and he declared
- 32:00bankrupt. That's an incredible career in a jacked up financial
- 32:03life. And we've also seen the opposite in other rare
- 32:06occasions, someone with a very modest career that's handled
- 32:10their financial life so well that, you know, so those two
- 32:13things have got to be thought about separately, even though
- 32:16they're very well connected. And then the 11th category is called
- 32:20your quality of life, and that it that category has to do with
- 32:25the things that you want, the environments that you want to be
- 32:30surrounded by, and the experiences that you want to
- 32:34have in your life. That's the fun stuff.
- 32:36Like, what does it all add up to? How do you really live your
- 32:38life? Quality of life, daily, yeah. How does it all
- 32:42And then the last category, the the the fundamental mission of
- 32:47Life Book is to take a look at those 11 categories define with
- 32:53clarity your ideal self. In each of them, what is your ideal
- 32:59level of health and fitness? What does your ideal love
- 33:01relationship look like? What would your ideal career be?
- 33:04Right? So you create basically 11 sub visions in each of these
- 33:1011 categories, and then the 12th category is called your life
- 33:14vision. And what you do there is you take those 11 category
- 33:19visions and you roll them all up into what your ideal life, your
- 33:26highest self, could look like. And then Alex, you got a North
- 33:30Star. Then you got something that you can sink your teeth in,
- 33:34roll up your sleeves and move in that direction every day. Having
- 33:37that is an absolute game changer. I can't even I will not
- 33:42be able to put into words in this podcast how important it is
- 33:46and how much it changes your life. If you have that and start
- 33:50running your life according to it, it's a different way to
- 33:53experience life on the planet Earth.
- 33:55True, it changes your daily choices. Once you have that
- 33:58vision, your days all of a sudden become very clear to what
- 34:03you're going to do that day.
- 34:04Well, it's a decision making framework. Every single
- 34:08decision, every choice you have, you ask the same question, does
- 34:11this choice get me closer to that or farther away? If it gets
- 34:14me closer, I'm all in. If it gets me farther away, it's a
- 34:16hell no.
- 34:17But most people don't even know what that North Star is, because
- 34:19no one's ever sat down thinking about what this is. We just run
- 34:23around aimlessly like chickens with our heads around as a
- 34:26general statement, and then we're like, I feel lost. I feel
- 34:29lost. I hear that all the time. I feel lost. I have no direction
- 34:33in life because you haven't sat down and thought about it.
- 34:35That's right, seriously, broke it down and thought about it.
- 34:38One thing you said, John, that was really interesting, and it's
- 34:41something that's so so important, I want to kind of
- 34:42really focus in on. It is when you started to break when you
- 34:47originally started to do this for yourself, you started to
- 34:50identify the beliefs you had around each category. And that's
- 34:55what people don't understand, that they have these
- 34:58subconscious beliefs about money. Like you have to work
- 35:01hard for money. Or if I'm rich, I must be bad, because only
- 35:05rich, only bad people are rich, and these kind of beliefs in
- 35:09their head. Or I I can never really find love because I'm not
- 35:12lovable. Or no one really will love me these beliefs. Can you
- 35:15give any advice on how to kind of start to first identify, kind
- 35:20of the cancer of these negative beliefs, and then how to get in
- 35:23there and literally extract it from your life, yeah, so you can
- 35:26move forward.
- 35:28Okay, so let me give an example of how, how a disempowering
- 35:32belief can derail your life, and then what you can do with it. It
- 35:35doesn't matter what your vision is. In the category, my vision
- 35:38for my financial life is, I want to double my income this year.
- 35:41But if I have a belief that was installed in me since childhood,
- 35:44that the love of money is the root of all evil, I will figure
- 35:48out how to sabotage my vision, because I don't want to be evil.
- 35:51And if I'm, if I'm going to double my income, that right?
- 35:55And so that's a contradiction, and that's one of the things
- 35:58that life book does, is it brings those contradictions to
- 36:00the surface. I want an extraordinary love relationship,
- 36:03but all the love relationships that I've seen in my life are
- 36:05jacked up. And truly at the end of the day, I believe that all
- 36:09women cheat and all women leave, or I believe that men can't be
- 36:13trusted. You got a belief like that? You're gonna, you're gonna
- 36:16jack up your your vision, you right? So during the Lifebook
- 36:19process, deep into what are the beliefs that have controlled
- 36:24your behavior up to this point? If you discover disempowering
- 36:28beliefs, which you will sometimes, Alex, just the
- 36:32consciousness will do the job right there. Holy shit. I
- 36:38really, truly want to be wealthy, but I just realized
- 36:41that I've been carrying this with me since I was five years
- 36:44old, because I learned it in Sunday school. And you know
- 36:46what? It's irrational. It doesn't make sense. I'm going to
- 36:49drop that one. And sometimes that's good enough, like
- 36:52literally just bringing consciousness to it. Other times
- 36:56you've got to coax that belief down the stairs. Sometimes you
- 37:00might even have to have therapy to let it go dig it out. Yeah,
- 37:04but the bottom line is, you've got to extract it. And what the
- 37:07Lifebook process does miss. Why don't you talk about this?
- 37:09Because you say this beautifully. It's about it's
- 37:12about how the Lifebook process aligns you and and brings those
- 37:16beliefs and that dissonance so that you can get harmonious and
- 37:20vibrating.
- 37:21So basically, we dissect your life. Your life is made up of 12
- 37:25categories that we've identified as the most important ones to
- 37:28have an extraordinary life, right? But really it's just one
- 37:31life. So during the life of program, we go in there and we
- 37:35dissect each one, and we say, okay, what are your beliefs
- 37:37here? What are your here? What are your beliefs here in this
- 37:40category, and at the end of that, what you'll find is that
- 37:43this this belief, was contradictory, totally canceling
- 37:47out this belief. So I'm not getting anywhere in either one
- 37:49of those categories. So basically, what it does is it
- 37:52gives you this congruence and an integrity alignment. It's
- 37:56alignment and integrity, because what you've done is you've
- 37:59thought down with your powerful consciousness. We have amazing
- 38:03power with our consciousness. It's like Cyclops with its with
- 38:06his red eyes. It's like, if you focus on something, it's going
- 38:09to be huge. It's going to be big. So anyway, once you do
- 38:12that, then you you have this entire flow. You're no longer
- 38:16fighting within your beliefs. You know what? All of your
- 38:18beliefs are in all these 12 categories. They're harmonious,
- 38:22they're harmonious, and they're integrated, and then you're back
- 38:24to your one life. And it's all flowing. It's flowing toward
- 38:28that life vision, as opposed to there's bumps every internal
- 38:30friction, internal friction, and also it's dissonance.
- 38:34I had nothing but internal friction and dissonance when I
- 38:37was going through my my stage turmoil. I had to have a years,
- 38:41years long process of getting rid of the contradictions so
- 38:45that I could experience alignment. And then once that
- 38:48happens, Alex, once you get alignment with your
- 38:51philosophical beliefs, with your vision for each category, where
- 38:55there's no war inside, once you get that alignment, and you're
- 38:59moving in the direction of your life vision. You notice when
- 39:02dissonance come into your life. You notice when a relationship
- 39:05comes in that's causing friction. It's like everything
- 39:09was friggin flowing in harmony. Yesterday I was completely
- 39:12aligned, and today I've been knocked off track, and it's
- 39:15because of this thing, and that's not acceptable. I'm
- 39:17getting I'm gonna handle,
- 39:19Or you have to, you know, adapt in some way or make some sort of
- 39:22an adjustment.
- 39:22It's the most, it's the most valuable thing that you could
- 39:25ever have is an aligned life vision with the contradictions
- 39:31that you're moving toward with flow. And if things come out of
- 39:34left field that are gonna, that are gonna, you know, Sideswipe
- 39:38you, you notice. And it's not acceptable. You've got to get
- 39:42back into that.
- 39:43You know what it really is? It Lifebook helps you do the inner
- 39:47work. You know, everybody talks about spiritually, the inner
- 39:50work. Well, what is that inner work? What are you really trying
- 39:53to do? You're trying to get unencumbered. You're trying to
- 39:56get rid of all the bullshit distractions, everybody else's
- 39:59opinion. Opinions out, you know, so you can hear your soul song,
- 40:03so you can hear what you are supposed to be doing here. And
- 40:06then you ask yourself these questions once you get all that
- 40:09noise out, and then you're off to the races. You that it's
- 40:12really is a tool to help you do that in our work, through these
- 40:17Socratic questions that we ask you, right?
- 40:21Do you guys believe that that you attract these if you have a
- 40:27negative bias towards like men can't be trusted, you're going
- 40:30to probably be attracted to men that can't be trusted. Or, yeah,
- 40:34it's like, on a subconscious level, on a completely
- 40:37subconscious level?
- 40:37Yeah, anytime you think about either I don't want that, or I
- 40:41do want that. You're letting the universe, the universe is
- 40:43neutral. The you're if you're saying, I don't like that, oh, I
- 40:46don't like that. I don't like that, doesn't matter. It's going
- 40:49to come to you because that's the vibration you're putting
- 40:52out. Like, literally, you're just, it doesn't matter. The
- 40:55universe can't hear the don't. It doesn't hear, I don't like
- 40:57that. It's just
- 40:58Got a good Buddha quote for this, the continuous repetition.
- 41:01Buddha. Buddha said, all we are is what we have thought, what we
- 41:05think we become. There you go. So if you're going to be going
- 41:08around thinking about what you don't want, all day long, you
- 41:11are thinking about what you're going to become.
- 41:13And once you really get that and realize you're like, holy it's a
- 41:17huge responsibility to get my freaking mind under control. You
- 41:22know,
- 41:23It is an extreme. It's such an incredibly powerful tool that
- 41:27people misuse all the time, that's never get into this.
- 41:32Let's not even talk about self talk. I mean, the negative self
- 41:35talk that you beat yourself up and all of this kind of stuff.
- 41:38But the beliefs are such a powerful because if you can
- 41:41start extracting those from your life, and I at least identifying
- 41:45them and working on them, you can move forward. But if you
- 41:48like, I had, I had negative I had a negative bias in my head
- 41:52for years that I couldn't direct, that I couldn't direct.
- 41:56I didn't want to direct a major motion picture, because I almost
- 42:01made a $20 million movie for the mafia and all of that trauma and
- 42:06abuse that I went through during that time, subconsciously, I
- 42:09just kept constantly beating myself up along the way about
- 42:13it. So finally, I said, Wait a minute, I gotta break and the
- 42:16second I broke through as Oh, and now I can just do it. But it
- 42:20took forever to so those negative beliefs could screw 20
- 42:23years of your life, if not your entire life.
- 42:25Yeah, your entire life, true, yeah. I mean, we all,
- 42:27I mean, those negative beliefs can ruin incredibly important
- 42:31areas of your life, like your relationships and your financial
- 42:34life, like big, big stuff. It's really important to to
- 42:38understand the the philosophical premises that are controlling
- 42:44your behavior and make sure that they're empowering instead of
- 42:48disempowering. Because, make no mistake about it, we choose our
- 42:51beliefs. You. You have different beliefs now than you had 10
- 42:54years ago, and you will have different beliefs 10 years from
- 42:57now. We, as we go through life, we adopt beliefs based on our
- 43:00experience. It is a full choice what I do. I don't really
- 43:03believe in belief in the sense that there aren't things that I
- 43:08believe out there. I either know or I don't. I got this from
- 43:12sagu, yeah, I either either know or I don't know. How I use my
- 43:16beliefs is, I take a look at what I want in my life, and I
- 43:19ask myself, what would be the most empowering thing that I
- 43:22could believe that would move me most effectively toward this
- 43:26goal. So so I know, I know what I want from my physiology, with
- 43:32the belief that I've installed is I will be a strong, muscular
- 43:37athlete for the rest of my life. I believe that that is a belief
- 43:40that I consciously decided to put in my head, and beliefs
- 43:45control behaviors, and so that's exactly the that's the path I'm
- 43:48on, and that's the path I'm going to stay on. It's like I
- 43:50use my beliefs as tools to get what I want, right?
- 43:54You're reprogram. You're You're reprogramming yourself, because
- 43:57you're programming if you could be programmed negatively, you
- 44:00can be programmed positively.
- 44:03And so much of this that we're talking about is just
- 44:06unconsciousness, yes, just people being completely
- 44:09unconscious because they're in the quagmire of the overwhelm of
- 44:12our society and the murder all that mess, right until you come
- 44:17to a point where you're like, I am sick of this, or whatever it
- 44:20is for you, whatever you come to that point where you're like,
- 44:22ready for a change, then life inter life book and literally,
- 44:27you can really organize. You can get into that quagmire and clean
- 44:31it all out, and clean it all up, get to your higher self, listen
- 44:34to yourself, and plan your life.
- 44:37And within 45 days, you're going to be living a completely
- 44:39different life. And that's not an exaggeration,
- 44:42And it's, it's, that's why I find meditation so important,
- 44:45because it completely silences this noise. It gives you a
- 44:49moment for yourself to you can actually think, accept new
- 44:53ideas, accept things, and just go, Wait a minute. And that's
- 44:56the thing, is pausing where you are, like this insanity. We've
- 45:00all been there. We've all been in this this insanity and this
- 45:03world is very intoxicating, extremely intoxicating. When you
- 45:07pull back and start to look at the wider image, like you guys
- 45:12did with analyzing these wonderful questions and and
- 45:16creating these categories, you start thinking, Well, wait a
- 45:18minute, and you start moving to a direction. Now, you've had so
- 45:21many people go through Lifebook. What are some success stories?
- 45:25They were just remarkable that you would love to share
- 45:27So many now, we've had 100,000 people go through Lifebook, and
- 45:31one of the things about about Lifebook is we've we've spent a
- 45:35lot of time on the science of personal development, and I
- 45:38think we're the only personal development company that is
- 45:40quantified personal development, so we can track and measure it
- 45:43over time. So we've got 113 data point assessment that scores you
- 45:48across the 12 categories, and it gives you an overall quality of
- 45:53life score called your life quotient. Is it's almost like
- 45:55your quality of life IQ, right? So, and we've got seven levels
- 46:02that people fall into on this continuum. The lowest level is
- 46:07called the critical level, and that's where, if you if your
- 46:12life portion is under 60, you're in pain in every area of your
- 46:16life, to the point where it's dangerous, like it's dangerous,
- 46:19you really suffer, right? And it goes from critical to compromise
- 46:23all the way up a continuum to extraordinary on the top, over
- 46:27over 120 score on our life quotient, you're firing on all
- 46:31cylinders like literally every single category of your life is
- 46:35going going really well, and there's five levels in between.
- 46:39So we've seen people, Alex, go from scores in the 60s pain in
- 46:46every single area of their life, not knowing where to turn to
- 46:50scores in the 120s in 18 months. Now, 18 months is a long time.
- 46:55That's a year and a half, but that person is living a
- 46:57completely different life on this planet. That is a different
- 47:00life. You've gone from pain in every area of your life to
- 47:05excellence in every area of your life. So we've, we've seen that,
- 47:09and we've seen massive transformations. And if you want
- 47:12to, if you want to see the Lifebook stories, jump on the
- 47:14Mind Valley website, we've got 1000s of deep, beautiful success
- 47:20stories.
- 47:20We can't, I can't watch them without just calling because, I
- 47:23mean, seriously, some people will just say, my I saved my
- 47:26life because of this program. Well, save my life. Yeah. I
- 47:29mean, it's, it's just beautiful. It's really beautiful.
- 47:32We're privileged and honored to do this work. We really are.
- 47:36It's very true.
- 47:36So let me ask you, what are some of the major obstacles that
- 47:40people, that you find, that people have when trying to
- 47:43implement these ideas that we're talking about here.
- 47:47Well, what do you mean, implement the ideas?
- 47:49So just the idea of going through the program, or even
- 47:53even just taking the basic ideas of this conversation that we if
- 47:57you just took, Hey, these are the 12 categories. Ask these
- 48:00five questions without even using your program, just taking
- 48:02those ideas, what stops people or these obstacles that they
- 48:07have to overcome to even begin to believe that this is a
- 48:09possibility in their life?
- 48:10Well, that's overwhelm, man. I mean, it took me 10 years to do
- 48:15what you can now do in six weeks at the highest possible level,
- 48:18what we what we and this is important, because if you wanted
- 48:22to try to do this yourself, it would be as hard for you as it
- 48:25was for me, probably harder because I at least had some
- 48:28resources, and I had nothing but time, because I couldn't do
- 48:31anything else. But it took me right but now with the Lifebook
- 48:35system, all you have to do is a step by step process, and if you
- 48:40just because it's completely overwhelming to try to get a
- 48:43grip on your entire life and figure out right? It's
- 48:46overwhelming, of course, but, but the system that we've
- 48:49created allows you to do it step by step. There's basically 45
- 48:53exercises. All you've got to do is the one in front of you, and
- 48:57you just keep going methodically through the system. And by the
- 49:01end of that process, you will not believe what you've created.
- 49:05You will have written 120 page book that contains a vivid
- 49:10description of your ideal self and your ideal future. And it's
- 49:13no joke. It came out of you. Nobody else, it came out of you.
- 49:18But you know
- 49:18What I think? I think one of the biggest hurdles is that like,
- 49:21especially if like, I'll just take an example of being if I'm
- 49:24a mom, I'm overwhelmed. I have a career. I have three kids, my
- 49:28husband's working all the time, complete overwhelm. And I'm just
- 49:32literally doing this to stay above water, just like to keep
- 49:34my life going. I can't do anything. One thing out of the
- 49:37I'm dead, right? So when you talk to that person and say,
- 49:40this can make that all organized and flow. And they think, what
- 49:46are you even talking about? I can't take six weeks. I can't
- 49:50take one minute. I can't you know what I mean, this whole
- 49:52thing is going to fall down. Well, guess what? This whole
- 49:55thing is going to fall down anyway. At some point that's not
- 49:58going to work. It does. You can't do that. You can't just
- 50:02barely paddle. I mean, I guess you can, and stay there in, you
- 50:05know, stasis, in this non moving on, but it's just this again.
- 50:09It's the cesspool of of just everything overwhelm and you're
- 50:13lost and I'm so lost. You know, we hear that all the time, but
- 50:17what happens seems counterintuitive, but it's
- 50:19actually you need to stop doing that. It happened to us. Life
- 50:24just stopped in a minute. It was like, boom, you're not doing
- 50:27that anymore. You're doing this. So we didn't have a choice. So I
- 50:30get that this is hard to say, Okay, I'm going to stop doing
- 50:33this. That hold it, holds my life, my whole life, together,
- 50:36just a minute and take, take it off and do this. And get really
- 50:39think down my whole life, get conscious of everything, and
- 50:42then go back here and really fix this life. And that's what
- 50:46people do. And when they do that, they go from a 60 in the
- 50:51in the life quotient up to 120 because they freaking did the
- 50:54work. It's all about internal work. It starts with the
- 50:56internal alchemy.
- 50:58It's pay now or pay later. That's the bottom line. Pay now
- 51:00or pay later. Either you can pay now by bringing a little bit of
- 51:04consciousness to your life and taking a little bit of time to
- 51:07figure out where you want to take your life, or you can pay
- 51:11later with regrets that you didn't do that with a train
- 51:15wreck of life, which is what usually happens with people that
- 51:19are living unconsciously.
- 51:21Can you explain the importance? Because Missy, you said
- 51:24something really important there that you that, and a lot of my
- 51:27listeners are, I'm sure I was as well. And I do sometimes in life
- 51:32where you feel like you just I can't I can't breathe and and I
- 51:36have to say specifically from the female side, because I've
- 51:40seen it with my mother when she was raising me. I seen it with
- 51:43my wife when we have twin. I have twins, you know, like, you
- 51:47know, like all the you get overwhelmed, and men do as well,
- 51:52but you get overwhelmed, and you feel like, if I stop, the whole
- 51:55world is going to come crashing down. But the thing that most
- 52:00people to understand is, if you don't stop, right, you are
- 52:03actually doing more of a favor to your family, to your
- 52:08community, if you take care of yourself. And that's on all the
- 52:13categories. Can you kind of dive into that a little bit?
- 52:15Yeah, well, if you the bottom line is, especially for a woman,
- 52:18because if, if you're in your feminine you're a nurturer, and
- 52:21you you give continuously. You're a continuous well of
- 52:23giving, right? So if you are malnourished, or if you're
- 52:27starved, then you're then the whole thing does fall down, the
- 52:31whole entire ecosystem that you're trying to build in your
- 52:33home or wherever, can't go away what you don't have. All done,
- 52:36right? Can't give away what you don't have. So self care is
- 52:39number one. And when we talk to couples, especially entrepreneur
- 52:42couples, the maybe the wife is at home, maybe she's helping in
- 52:45the business. She's raising the family doing that, you know,
- 52:47it's self care, and it really is to both to any human being, they
- 52:52should care for themselves. First, that's salt baths. That's
- 52:54a little bit of meditation in the morning, you know, before
- 52:57the kids wake up and they take your life on a ride. And so,
- 53:00yeah, there's, there's nothing more important than self care.
- 53:03And that's what this whole thing is about. That's what Lifebook
- 53:07is all about. The whole thing came from John not taking care
- 53:10of himself, you know, from an internal position, from from
- 53:14coming in, going out, and so that's, that's really what it is
- 53:17you have to that's the only way change happens. The only way
- 53:21change happens is in here, and then it goes outward in
- 53:24concentric circles. Outwards.
- 53:27You've got it. You've got to care enough about yourself and
- 53:29your family to give yourself the gift of a few days to step off
- 53:34the treadmill so you can plan the rest of your life and and
- 53:38right? You know what I mean? People spend more time planning
- 53:41a trip to Disneyland than they do contemplating where they'd
- 53:49like to take their life. And it's so important, especially if
- 53:54you have kids, especially if you have kids, another aspect that I
- 53:57think is really important Alex is the aspect of a couple going
- 53:59through Lifebook. It's so powerful for a couple to do it
- 54:00because, yeah, 90% of the problems that a couple are going
- 54:04to have will be disagreements not being on the same page in
- 54:08one or more of these areas. Oh, yeah, she's monitoring the
- 54:12Savior.
- 54:12Oh, right, exactly. Or love languages, or love languages are
- 54:16different,
- 54:17And so life book is a way. Life Book is a way for a couple to
- 54:20get on the same page in every area of life, and that the
- 54:24importance of that just simply cannot be overstated. That's
- 54:27where 90% of your friction comes from. Missy and I never fight
- 54:31about anything important, because that shit is we get
- 54:34pissy with each other sometimes, and that those little but I'm
- 54:37talking about, I'm talking about the big issues. They don't exist
- 54:40in our lives, because we've taken the time to figure out
- 54:43where we're going in all of these important areas, we've got
- 54:46complete agreement. We divide and conquer, and if we're going
- 54:50to have friction, it's going to be over small, stupid stuff, not
- 54:52about anything big and important. That's true.
- 54:54Eliminate,
- 54:54And I'll tell you even that stuff is the bickering or even
- 54:57just petty bullshit, because once you have. Life vision, a
- 55:00shared love relationship vision. Let's just take your love
- 55:03relationship vision. That ain't part of it. Yeah, this is where
- 55:07you're going. Where's the bickering and the petty bullshit
- 55:09That's not in my Lifebook. Let's not do that
- 55:14In a perfect world. In a perfect world. Yes, that's it. But
- 55:17you've been married a long time, and I've been married for a
- 55:19decent amount of time. So process,
- 55:21It's a process.
- 55:23It's a process. No, no question. But you know what? What's really
- 55:26interesting about that, and you're absolutely right, is when
- 55:29a couple goes through this program, when they define these
- 55:33categories in their lives, they're, you know, you always
- 55:37see these these fights, like it's never about the dish, if
- 55:41they get into a body, if they get into a huge brawl, like you
- 55:45didn't take out the car, it's not about the garbage. It was
- 55:48never about the garbage. Everything. It's about it's
- 55:52about the this or that thing. It just builds up and builds up.
- 55:56It's so funny. It's so funny. But when you finally get all
- 56:00that cleared out of the way, you know, then it might just be
- 56:03about the dish. Truly, truly, hopefully it's just about the
- 56:11dish. And you just, you know what, you're right? I should
- 56:13clean up after myself, right? Maybe I'll pick up my underwear
- 56:17off the floor. Hopefully, at this stage, at this stage, we've
- 56:20already cleared that's all bad. That's like first few years in
- 56:24the relationship.
- 56:27Now where do you guys? What do you guys want to see for
- 56:30individuals who go through what is your hope for individuals who
- 56:34go through this program?
- 56:36Oh, it's super simple. We want to see individuals move from the
- 56:39passenger seat of their lives to the driver's seat of their
- 56:42lives. We want to see individuals flip the switch. And
- 56:45this is what it is. It's a binary thing that happens is
- 56:48it's a switch that gets flipped somewhere during the course of
- 56:51the program, and you never know what category it's going to come
- 56:54but it's where. It's an on flip. It's an on switch where, where
- 56:57you all of a sudden realize that the deepest possible level for
- 57:00the first time in your life, my life is mine. I own it. There's
- 57:05going to be no knight in shining armor coming to my rescue. No
- 57:09one's coming to make my life right. If I have a desire for a
- 57:12happy, successful, fulfilling, balanced life, it is up to me to
- 57:16figure out how to satisfy that desire, and that's when you
- 57:19become the decision maker at the center of your own existence,
- 57:23and start to direct your life consciously. You are now the CEO
- 57:27in your own life. You're the boss of your own life. You're
- 57:29going to create an amazing vision for the person that
- 57:32you're going to turn yourself into and the life you're going
- 57:34to live. You're going to commit to that vision, and you're going
- 57:36to move in that direction with intention every single day of
- 57:40your life. That's what we're at. And then this program generates
- 57:44humans like that, and we want a community of humans like that.
- 57:47That's right, and that looks different for everyone. It looks
- 57:51different for every single person.
- 57:52And that's the next level. That's that's how we change the
- 57:55world. That's how we get diverse, real diversity back
- 57:59like real individual, just mountain movers, changers, you
- 58:04know, people that are in control. It's literally going
- 58:06from being half dead, asleep, mediocre, to boom, you're on,
- 58:11you're electrified, you're passionate, your life is is so
- 58:16exciting, instead of, oh, it's so drudgery. It's literally dark
- 58:19and light. It's from darkness to light. That's what we're going
- 58:22for.
- 58:22And Alex, I want to share the most important thing that we've
- 58:24learned in the last 30 years that really ties beautifully
- 58:28into this. And this is why, this is why no one else can do this
- 58:30work for you. This is why your answer will never come from a
- 58:34book or from a guru or from a from a personal development
- 58:37seminar that you go to and learn somebody else's wisdom. It's
- 58:42because and we've and we learned this through, through looking at
- 58:4510s of 1000s of assessments and 1000s of life visions and
- 58:49working with 1000s of people, there is no one right answer for
- 58:54everyone in any area of human endeavor. There is no one right
- 58:58strategy that will work for everyone on the planet. There's
- 59:01no one right diet, there's no one right religion, there is no
- 59:05one right thing for everybody. And once you realize that you
- 59:12you see what is the is the biggest problem in the world
- 59:14right now, which is the notion that my way is the right way,
- 59:18and if you're not down with my program, there's going to be
- 59:21trouble. If that one thing could go away in the world right now,
- 59:24we'd be living in the golden age. So when you realize that
- 59:28there is no one thing that will work for everyone, you can stop
- 59:32being so self righteous and get off of your little high horse
- 59:36and allow other people to live the way they want to live, and
- 59:39you live the way you want to live. You don't put your shit on
- 59:41other people, and you do not allow other people to put their
- 59:45shit on you. That's the world that we want to see. So we're
- 59:48trying to make a contribution
- 59:49That is a that's beautiful, my friend, I want to ask, I want to
- 59:53ask both of you to address your category. Missy, I want you to
- 59:59talk. Talk to women watching right now and say, I can't. I
- 1:00:04don't have the time. I This doesn't make sense to me. I want
- 1:00:07you to give that kind of like a little message to them, and
- 1:00:10John, I want you to talk to the guys listening and going, this
- 1:00:13is, this is Woo, woo, crap. This is, you know, I'm a dude. I give
- 1:00:18the testosterone. Talk to each so each of you just take a
- 1:00:21moment
- 1:00:23To women. Yes, her best advice to women
- 1:00:26And your instrument, you go first. Yeah,
- 1:00:30I was hoping that she could do the song
- 1:00:35So well. I mean, this is what I tell my kids. This is what I
- 1:00:38tell my kids. No one knows you better than you, not even me. So
- 1:00:43you need to trust your own gut, heart and mind. That's your
- 1:00:47intuition, your gut, heart and mind, listen, check in with
- 1:00:50that. First you know what's best, be yourself and stay true
- 1:00:53to that. Because if you do that, it's like everything comes from
- 1:00:58that. That's beautiful. If you really are truly like you're
- 1:01:02doing your best to stay true to yourself and stay pure and stay
- 1:01:05good and kind and unconditionally loving. Then you
- 1:01:09you permeate that out. I mean, that's you do nothing but become
- 1:01:13a lighthouse for other people. And to me, that's like being an
- 1:01:17ex, being a good example, is kind of like, that's a thing
- 1:01:20that you're supposed to do in my that's what I was taught right
- 1:01:22as a kid. So I think it's just be true to who you really are.
- 1:01:27Like be that and go do that and don't let anybody stop you.
- 1:01:31One of the most important things about that being being a good
- 1:01:33example, is that one of the reasons that people don't even
- 1:01:39know that a life vision is possible, or how critical it is,
- 1:01:44because they don't have any examples out there of people
- 1:01:47living this way, of people who know who they are, who know
- 1:01:50where they're going. They've got an extraordinary life in every
- 1:01:53area, because they brought consciousness to it, and they've
- 1:01:55done work on themselves. We don't have examples like that,
- 1:01:59and that's one of the big benefits of going through this
- 1:02:02and building a life like that, so that people can see examples,
- 1:02:08right? That people need hope. They don't know where to turn.
- 1:02:11The more we have, the more different Lifebook people we
- 1:02:11And that would be my message to men. Is it would be a little bit
- 1:02:14have, more diversity we have, the more people can relate to
- 1:02:18someone, because we're all so different. You know what I mean?
- 1:02:21When I first started out, there was one life book, and we're who
- 1:02:25we are, but we're there's, you know, everybody's so different.
- 1:02:28Now we've got 1000s of people in Lifebook using living this way,
- 1:02:32and they're all different. And that's spreading like wildfire,
- 1:02:36because someone that can't resonate with me and John will
- 1:02:38resonate with that person, or that person, or see this person,
- 1:02:41and then it's like, oh, it awakens them. That's really
- 1:02:44what's going on here, Alex, is we're Awakening people to the
- 1:02:48fact that they are their life is going their way, either on
- 1:02:52autopilot or not. So get off of autopilot. Get a hold of your
- 1:02:56wheel. Get this car back on the road.
- 1:03:02more manly. It's like, it's like, bro, if you don't know, if
- 1:03:07you don't have a clue of the person that you want to turn
- 1:03:10yourself into and the life that you want to build, what the hell
- 1:03:13are you doing every day? What are you What are you doing when
- 1:03:15you you're waking up and you're putting on your clothes and
- 1:03:18you're going to a job that you don't like, and because you
- 1:03:22don't have your own life vision, you spend your time and energy
- 1:03:25building your boss's life vision. And right, what are you
- 1:03:28doing? You've got to get in the driver's seat of your own life.
- 1:03:32No one's going to do that for you. No one's going to solve
- 1:03:34this problem for you. And we need you. We need everyone. You
- 1:03:37have more potential inside of you than you could ever
- 1:03:41cultivate in a lifetime. In order to brush up against that
- 1:03:45potential, you've got to take a little bit of time and
- 1:03:48contemplate who you want to turn yourself into and what direction
- 1:03:52you want to take your life, and then commit to that because you
- 1:03:56could be great. You really could be great. Don't choose
- 1:03:59mediocrity just because you're lazy or just and here's the
- 1:04:03other thing, man, it's not your fault, because no one's ever
- 1:04:07told you this before. No one's ever told you that you could
- 1:04:09actually, you could actually create a vision for yourself and
- 1:04:12direct your life consciously. But I just did now, you know,
- 1:04:16now you got no excuse, that's right, so you got to put on your
- 1:04:19big boy pants starting tomorrow and turn yourself into what you
- 1:04:22were meant to become of it.
- 1:04:24There was a slight difference in energy, but I like that
- 1:04:27messages. Did you catch the subtle? It was subtle. It was
- 1:04:33not subtle energy shift.
- 1:04:37That's the masculine and feminine. One two punch, right
- 1:04:40there,
- 1:04:41Right! I mean, it was so beautifully done. And she's
- 1:04:43like, she's so soft. And you're like, dude, like, beautiful. No,
- 1:04:51guys, I'm gonna ask you a few questions. Ask all of my guests,
- 1:04:54okay, what is your definition of living a fulfilled life?
- 1:04:59Fulfillment means. To be filled up. That's what it means.
- 1:05:02Fulfillment is when everything's in its proper place. Fulfillment
- 1:05:07is when when you can take a look at your entire life, and you
- 1:05:10just feel so full of love, and it's full That's what the word
- 1:05:15means. It's full of love and full of joy and full of
- 1:05:18happiness, full of abundance. So fulfillment entails having
- 1:05:25crossed a threshold where the lion's share of the work has
- 1:05:29been done and you've got an almost automatic quality to your
- 1:05:33life. Here's a couple of concrete examples. I'm not
- 1:05:36working really, really hard to get in shape anymore. In shape.
- 1:05:40I've done that work, I've done this study. I know what to eat,
- 1:05:42I know how to exercise, and now I'm maintaining in a relaxed,
- 1:05:46enjoyable way. I'm not working like a dog to make money. I've
- 1:05:51crossed that threshold, I've gotten I've got abundance in
- 1:05:53that area of my life. It entails having having reached simplicity
- 1:05:59on the far side of complexity, where you've worked through the
- 1:06:02complexity of your life and you've arrived in a place where
- 1:06:06you're filled up every day without an immense energy drain
- 1:06:11pushing that boulder up the hill, you've arrived everything
- 1:06:15is there and everything is good.
- 1:06:16Wow. That was, like, beautiful. I have like, two words that was
- 1:06:22like, gorgeous. Well, to me it's like, once, fulfillment is like,
- 1:06:28like John said, You've arrived, you're there, you've you've
- 1:06:31healed all the hurts, all the things inside yourself. You've
- 1:06:35emptied it all out. You clean out the cobwebs. And it's
- 1:06:38really, it's peace, you're centered and kind of kind of
- 1:06:43truthfully, kind of empty, open, right?
- 1:06:45And at the same time completely,
- 1:06:47Completely full, because everything's in its place. So
- 1:06:49now you are this well of the way I look at I try to look at
- 1:06:55myself this way, this way I do every morning. I have a ritual
- 1:06:57that I do this. I'm a well now of non stop, permanent energy,
- 1:07:02so I am available and of service to everyone and everything in
- 1:07:07that, in my day and as I attack. So that's, that's to me,
- 1:07:11fulfillment.
- 1:07:11I think the reason that we're able to answer that question is
- 1:07:14because that's the life that we're living right now. We have
- 1:07:17arrived. It's there's no more longed for vision out there in
- 1:07:23the future. It's on top of us. Alex, we've we've worked so hard
- 1:07:26on this. We're in it. We wake up in it every single day. And
- 1:07:30there's nothing that feels better than that.
- 1:07:32Now if both of you can go back in time and talk to little Missy
- 1:07:35and Little Jon, what advice would you give them?
- 1:07:40Oh, man,
- 1:07:42Probably what I tell my kids, just stick true to you. You
- 1:07:47know, stick true to you. Don't, don't let anybody take you off
- 1:07:50course. If you really know, no no no in your heart, don't,
- 1:07:54don't ever, don't, ever let anybody take you off course.
- 1:07:58It's your head, your heart and your gut. Those are your three
- 1:08:01intuition pieces.
- 1:08:02I like that my childhood was so jacked up that it's hard for me
- 1:08:06to even even know what I would say to my little self to try to
- 1:08:10help navigate the shit that I went through. I think that it
- 1:08:15for me, it would have been more along the lines of, there there
- 1:08:21was an amazing speech that Winston Churchill gave to, I
- 1:08:25forget, I think it was some military academy. It was he was
- 1:08:28doing the commencement announcement. He got up on that
- 1:08:32stage, and he went up to the microphone, and here was his
- 1:08:35speech, verbatim. Never, never, never, never, never, never give
- 1:08:42up. And then he walked away,
- 1:08:46Dropped the mic.
- 1:08:47That's probably what I stay alive long enough to get your
- 1:08:50shit together and then you're gonna have a good life. That
- 1:08:53would have been my advice.
- 1:08:54That's good. I love it.
- 1:08:56Now, how, how do you guys define God, Source Energy, the
- 1:09:00universe, in your lives?
- 1:09:02In a word consciousness and kind of, it's everything. Everything
- 1:09:07that is, is part of God, the universe. It's, it's the quantum
- 1:09:12soup, the quantum whatever. That's how I see.
- 1:09:15We're just, we're just now, just in the last few years, as we're
- 1:09:21we're transitioning. Alex from Lifebook allowed us to master
- 1:09:25the 3d physical world. That's the bottom line. Sure mastered.
- 1:09:28We mastered the areas of living as a human being on this planet.
- 1:09:32And then once we did that, this was about four or five years, we
- 1:09:38started to transition into, you know, we've got this handled
- 1:09:43now, we can start to explore this question that you just
- 1:09:46raised. And so we're just, we're infants, we're infants in this
- 1:09:50area. But it's really exciting, it's mysterious, it's sexy, it's
- 1:09:54sensual. We're really having a good time with it. I see the
- 1:09:59answer to your question. Question, God source energy? All
- 1:10:01that, I see it as very mechanical. And to me it's
- 1:10:05energetic vibration. Everything in the universe is made up of
- 1:10:10energetic vibration. That's a literal statement. And what is
- 1:10:14so crazy man is that thought is energetic vibration. So thought
- 1:10:20is the same stuff as a rock or a skyscraper, right? So that's
- 1:10:26where it gets really, really interesting. Thought is, thought
- 1:10:29is creative and thought is causative. So yes, you can use
- 1:10:33it to manifest. And this is, and this is the area that I think
- 1:10:37that we're going to go deep into exploring. We've got a couple
- 1:10:40things that we've got to do yet to button up Lifebook,
- 1:10:42completely finished life book, one of which is to apply AI to
- 1:10:45it, which is happening right now. And by the end of this
- 1:10:49year, our work with Lifebook is going to be done, meaning the
- 1:10:52system is going to be complete and buttoned up. After that
- 1:10:55happens, I think that this is going to be our area of
- 1:10:58exploration. There are a number of doorways into what can be
- 1:11:02characterized as the spiritual world, or the world of energy.
- 1:11:05There's religion, there's meditation, there's sex magic,
- 1:11:08there's plant medicines. There's so many different there's
- 1:11:12there's many different doorways in right? Just nature. And so
- 1:11:14we're really looking forward to exploring that in the future.
- 1:11:18That's our next, that's our next big thing.
- 1:11:20And what is the ultimate purpose of life?
- 1:11:24Well, Kafka said the purpose of life is to live it. That's a
- 1:11:31good one.
- 1:11:32I think it's, I think it's to really find yourself and bring
- 1:11:37that out. I mean, I think that that this is, this is totally me
- 1:11:40though. It's like, okay, there's some magic inside of me. There's
- 1:11:43gifts inside of me that is a piece of this tapestry that
- 1:11:47we're all living in. It's my job to bring that out in my everyday
- 1:11:51living through with my kids, my husband, my life, to live, to
- 1:11:56really, like, live my values and my my beliefs and my spirit
- 1:11:59here. Like bring that. It's kind of like bringing heaven to
- 1:12:03earth. You know, it's bringing heaven to earth.
- 1:12:06I will say that I don't believe in a, I don't believe in a
- 1:12:10general purpose to life for the human race, any more than I
- 1:12:13believe in any one, right strategy. I think this is
- 1:12:15personal for everybody, right? So. But I will tell you my
- 1:12:17purpose in life is, my purpose in life is to forge myself and
- 1:12:26the world around me in the image of my values. That's I want to
- 1:12:32create myself, because we are both the sculptor and the
- 1:12:35sculpted, right? I want to create myself and to the extent
- 1:12:40that I can. I want to create the world around me in the image of
- 1:12:43the things that I value most beautiful, right? So that's life
- 1:12:47is. Life is about finding yourself, but life is also about
- 1:12:50creating yourself. That's the intention and allowing aspect of
- 1:12:53life.
- 1:12:53And ultimately, I'll add one more, because that was beautiful
- 1:12:57to mine. It's that to be self actualized, to really fully be
- 1:13:01fulfilled, right? And at peace, then come service to others. And
- 1:13:06to me, that's like the Holy, Holy Grail, if you really can be
- 1:13:10pure, clear, whatever, at least enough to help other people. You
- 1:13:14know what I mean to be of service to others that that gets
- 1:13:17me off.
- 1:13:18Now, where can people find out more about Lifebook and the
- 1:13:21amazing work that you're doing in the world, guys?
- 1:13:23All you to do is Google Search Lifebook. That's all you got to
- 1:13:26do. Mind Valley is our partner. So Mind Valley is our major
- 1:13:31distribution partner. So you can go on Mind Valley's website and

- 1:13:45All right, great man. It's been great spending time with you.
- 1:13:48This has been
- 1:13:51One last question, one last question. Go ahead. Do you have
- 1:13:54a parting message for the audience?
- 1:13:56Oh, Mr. Wise Man.
- 1:14:01Well, I'll tell you what I've really I've really enjoyed this,
- 1:14:04this interview with you. I like your energy a lot. And I think,
- 1:14:09no, I mean my, my parting message is just if you don't
- 1:14:12feel, if you don't feel in control of your life right now,
- 1:14:16if you, if you want a deeper understanding of yourself if you
- 1:14:22want to, if you want to have the ability to shape yourself in
- 1:14:26exactly the way you want. You can take control of your life,
- 1:14:29even though you don't see that. It's not very common, but it is
- 1:14:33possible jump online, just take a look at some of the videos and
- 1:14:37see if this resonates with you, and if it does resonate with
- 1:14:40you, this system which saved my life and has improved the lives
- 1:14:45of hundreds of 1000s of people. It really, really works. It
- 1:14:49will, and by work, I mean it will allow you to create
- 1:14:54measurable results. It will allow you to define a vision for
- 1:14:57your life that you can hang your. On and then start to move
- 1:15:01toward that vision. Wonderful thing to do to bring this kind
- 1:15:04of consciousness to your existence,
- 1:15:07I would just add one thing to that, and that is that you,
- 1:15:10everyone can do this. Anyone can do this. It's the way the human
- 1:15:15are this, the way we're built to do it. We have everything inside
- 1:15:20to do this, we have, you know, all the energetics, everything.
- 1:15:23It's just a matter of stopping from out here and going in here
- 1:15:28for just a little bit of time, clean house, and then out here
- 1:15:32is so much more better.
- 1:15:36This has been such a beautiful conversation, guys. It was
- 1:15:41wonderful, and I really hope that this is the rock that has
- 1:15:44dropped in the in the pond and starts to ripple away from many
- 1:15:48people listening. So I appreciate you, and I appreciate
- 1:15:52all the work you're doing to help awaken and help the world.
- 1:15:54So thank you for this. So much, guys. Thank you
- 1:15:56Right back at you, Alex, we hope to do this again with you. Man,
- 1:15:58it was really great.
