11. 0:18spicer adds that trump has lost weight
12. 0:20earned 102 million dollars and has quote
13. 0:23high approval ratings unquote since

21. 0:39you think donald trump's running again
22. 0:42i think sean spicer has every reason to
23. 0:44get himself back in the headlines
24. 0:46currently because he has a book to sell
25. 0:48that's kind of how it goes and the media
26. 0:50obviously loves this endless speculation
27. 0:52that will continue for months and indeed
28. 0:54years i don't think he really knows and
29. 0:56i don't think donald trump himself
30. 0:59really knows yet whether he'll be
31. 1:00running obviously there's a strong
32. 1:03possibility that he will um he will get
33. 1:05the nomination with ease if he does but
34. 1:07i think he's still making that decision
35. 1:09and we're a long way off but you know
36. 1:11speculating about this is everybody's
37. 1:13favorite game and everyone wants to
38. 1:14sound more knowledgeable about trump's
39. 1:16inner
40. 1:17thinking process than they actually are
41. 1:19i mean speaking about
42. 1:21so speaking of knowledgeable
43. 1:23not only not only this just being like a
44. 1:25uh you know sean spicer trying to sell
45. 1:27books but also this could be just be a
46. 1:29fundraising tactic
47. 1:31uh i mean they've fundraised so much
48. 1:33money and then just to have the prospect
49. 1:35of trump potentially running again could
50. 1:36you imagine the dollars that are going
51. 1:37to be flowing in
52. 1:39well alyssa you know he was also your
53. 1:41former boss and more recently than he
54. 1:43was uh sean spicer's boss what what's
55. 1:45your read on this
56. 1:47so i agree with robbie on this i don't
57. 1:48think even the former president knows if
58. 1:50he's running again i think he's going to
59. 1:52weigh a lot of factors there's a whole
60. 1:54ecosystem around him that will encourage
61. 1:56him to run they'll put polling data in
62. 1:58front of him that says he could win they
63. 2:00will tell him how well he's doing
64. 2:01fundraising
65. 2:03my guess is the former president will
66. 2:06wait till the 11th hour to make a
67. 2:07decision so even if he doesn't himself
68. 2:09run he'll be able to be a spoiler if you
69. 2:12see it that way or king maker of sorts
70. 2:14in terms of supporting the person who's
71. 2:16ultimately the nominee but you know from
72. 2:18my perspective we're ready for some new
73. 2:19blood in the republican party and i
74. 2:22think that the longer he takes to figure
75. 2:24it out the more the desantis's and
76. 2:26others are rising
77. 2:27and robbie what do you think the
78. 2:29consequences are for the gop of having
79. 2:32trump hang out there having him dangling
80. 2:35out there like this
81. 2:37well if he did declare you know firmly
82. 2:40right now that he's absolutely going to
83. 2:41run he would i think sabotage anybody
84. 2:44else's chances because i don't think
85. 2:45anyone can really go head-to-head with
86. 2:47him so actually by waiting he is
87. 2:50allowing other people to think about
88. 2:52getting in into the mix you know former
89. 2:55vice president pence i think ron
90. 2:57desantis the governor of florida his
91. 2:58star is really rising right now you know
92. 3:01there are a lot of people
93. 3:03obviously a lot of people within the
94. 3:04republican party who love trump also
95. 3:06love desantis but might see desantis as
96. 3:09someone with i guess similar policies
97. 3:10but not as much baggage who i think
98. 3:12picks fights with the media in a bit
99. 3:14more of a thoughtful way and has had a
100. 3:16lot of success doing that so the longer
101. 3:18trump stays out uh i mean it's like
102. 3:20alyssa said someone like a desantis can
103. 3:22rise although if trump decides to get in
104. 3:25i i can't imagine republican primary
105. 3:27voters ultimately choosing someone other
106. 3:30than trump if trump is in the race
107. 3:33the one thing i would just add to that
108. 3:35and i will say this with democrat
109. 3:36speculation or republican is 2024 is a
110. 3:40lifetime away so much can change before
111. 3:42then we've got the one-sixth commission
112. 3:44we've got you know different factors
113. 3:46with covet and how states are handling
114. 3:48it it's a lifetime away we could see a
115. 3:50lot of different iterations of front
116. 3:52runners before then well you know
117. 3:53ultimately uh you know trump is still
118. 3:55extremely popular and i understand that
119. 3:57the republican party would love to the
120. 3:59establishment republican party would
121. 4:01love to move on from him
122. 4:02but the voters ultimately get to decide
123. 4:05and
124. 4:06i think what's probably going to happen
125. 4:08is for the next couple of years and as
126. 4:10you said elisa it's true
127. 4:12long time away lots of stuff could
128. 4:14happen that is for sure but if the
129. 4:17voters are still very much um
130. 4:20for donald trump they they love donald
131. 4:22trump i it's you know the guy loves to
132. 4:25be loved so i could certainly see him
133. 4:29saying yeah okay i'm going to do it
134. 4:30again i'm going to get these rallies
135. 4:32going it's going to be great he does
136. 4:34that that's the issue right it's hard to
137. 4:37imagine trump
138. 4:38giving up the spotlight if there's a
139. 4:41chance that
140. 4:42i mean there would still there's a
141. 4:44chance right that he
142. 4:45that there's a good chance he would run
143. 4:47and get the nomination i think that's
144. 4:49all but a certainty and then there's a
145. 4:50good chance he would win i don't think
146. 4:52he would be a favorite to win but it you
147. 4:54know it would be three or four uh throws
148. 4:57of the coin out of ten he would win it's
149. 4:59it's a it's a closely and bitterly
150. 5:01divided country so uh so it's given
151. 5:04those sort of realities that he would
152. 5:07get the nomination and he very well very
153. 5:09well might win and he likes the
154. 5:11spotlight in doing all the rallies why
155. 5:13wouldn't he so that's that's what the
156. 5:15he's not going to run crowd has to
157. 5:16contend with that there's
158. 5:18a lot of reasons for him to do it for
159. 5:20just for him you know you bring up some
160. 5:22really good points because i think a lot
161. 5:23of people would think that there's no
162. 5:25way trump would win again but i think
163. 5:26it's really important to remember that
164. 5:28one of the reasons why he lost was
165. 5:30because of the pandemic and his response
166. 5:32to the pandemic and now joe biden's
167. 5:34getting his chance to show his response
168. 5:36to the pandemic and if things worsen if
169. 5:39these new variants come around you know
170. 5:41there's a bunch of what-ifs still
171. 5:43between now and 2024 and if joe biden
172. 5:46whose rate whose already approval
173. 5:48ratings are going down because of the
174. 5:50the response the pandemic if that
175. 5:52continues on then i think you might be
176. 5:54right there is a possibility that not
177. 5:55only trump would get the nomination but
178. 5:57he potentially could even win
179. 6:00yeah people would be insane to discount
180. 6:01that
181. 6:03robbie can you can you think of a time
182. 6:05in
183. 6:06ever in trump's life when he had an
184. 6:08opportunity for the spotlight and passed
185. 6:10it up

187. 6:13really the only reason that he might he
188. 6:15might not take it is you know if he can
189. 6:18um if he can be in the spotlight holding
190. 6:20rallies promoting the party you know
191. 6:23talking to his fans technically he can
192. 6:25do that without him being the person
193. 6:28running for president i mean he could
194. 6:29start doing that right now he could he
195. 6:31could call up any cable news channel he
196. 6:33could call it fox and he could talk for
197. 6:34as long as he wants at any time so he
198. 6:36doesn't he doesn't anymore actually need
199. 6:39to run for president to get the
200. 6:41attention you know we know that he
201. 6:42craves but he might decide that's a good
202. 6:44vehicle for it we're just gonna have to
203. 6:46find out well robbie let me ask you um
204. 6:49you know on the notion that 2024 is a
205. 6:51lifetime away and dynamics in this
206. 6:53country could change coming out of covet
207. 6:55restrictions lockdowns do you think that
208. 6:58there's any chance that we might see
209. 6:59sort of a the libertarian wing of the
210. 7:01republican party get a you know second
211. 7:04coming
212. 7:05i would i would certainly hope so that's
213. 7:07my that's my wing of the party and i'm
214. 7:09always promoting it i mean i think the
215. 7:11last year you know it's funny a lot of
216. 7:13people a lot of you know smart thinking
217. 7:15people said well you know there's no
218. 7:17libertarians in a pandemic
219. 7:19now a year later a year and a half later
220. 7:21that seems so stupid to me i don't know
221. 7:23i don't think anyone could have
222. 7:25experienced last year and thought man it
223. 7:26would be really great if government had
224. 7:28more total control over our lives that
225. 7:30the bureaucrats in charge of the fda and
226. 7:32the cdc and other places are really
227. 7:34smart people and they're always right
228. 7:36and we should just trust them to be in
229. 7:37total control of what we get to do i
230. 7:39don't think does anyone think that i
231. 7:41hope not i i want to give these people i
232. 7:43want to give the federal expert class
233. 7:46certainly less control over my life and
234. 7:48less control over yours so i if the i
235. 7:50think it would be great for the
236. 7:51republican party to embrace you know not
237. 7:54science denial not anti-vaccine stuff
238. 7:57but embrace a
239. 7:59a very
240. 8:00actually informed by science pushback
241. 8:02against the idea that you know
242. 8:04vaccinated people need to be double
243. 8:06masked outside that kind of insane you
244. 8:08know guidance you still see spewing
245. 8:10forth sometimes amen to that robbie
