- 0:00I feel it's one of the more overused
- 0:12words in our vocabulary it's become
- 0:15almost like an a buzz what that somehow
- 0:19if we talk about transformation rather
- 0:20than change it makes it different and I
- 0:25see transformation and change as as two
- 0:28different things they're related but
- 0:31they're not the same and so for me the
- 0:34difference is between transformation and
- 0:37change orders of magnitude changes you
- 0:43can make in a instant and I'm in a
- 0:46moment you can change something
- 0:49transformations take time and energy and
- 0:54and deliberation and up and a plan that
- 1:02I often find it's easier from easiest
- 1:05for me to explain if I start from what a
- 1:09transformation often entails as what you
- 1:12would call a paradigm shift we can think
- 1:14of improvement science Deming based
- 1:18improvement science as a paradigm shift
- 1:21so the old paradigm was you could
- 1:24improve the quality of your product or
- 1:27service by inspection by scientific
- 1:32management methods and Deming helped us
- 1:36to understand us that wasn't going to be
- 1:39sufficient and in a new complex changing
- 1:43world you needed to look through the
- 1:45lens of profound knowledge if you really
- 1:47wanted to improve there was a paradigm
- 1:49shift it was a complete change in the
- 1:51way in which we thought about how to
- 1:53achieve something the printing press is
- 1:56a paradigm shift the internet is a
- 1:58paradigm shift a new web page is just a
- 2:02change not this wrecked disrespecting
- 2:04change at all changes essential I'm
- 2:07trying to help people to distinguish
- 2:09between change and transformation so
- 2:12that when people come to
- 2:13and say you know the we need you to
- 2:17transform you can tell the difference
