  5. 0:10hey everybody david here from aerial
  6. 0:11influence thank you for stopping by
  7. 0:12today we're focusing on drones on the
  8. 0:14farm in 2021
  9. 0:16if that's a topic that interests you
  10. 0:17make sure you hit like and subscribe we
  11. 0:18got a bunch more coming in the coming
  12. 0:20months we are really gonna focus on
  13. 0:22drones and agriculture
  14. 0:23aerial influence has been working with
  15. 0:24agricultural drones for almost five
  16. 0:26years now it's hard to believe
  17. 0:27but we have never seen the amount of
  18. 0:29interest in ag drones that we've seen
  19. 0:32over the last few months we've been
  20. 0:33getting calls almost every day somebody
  21. 0:35interested in using drones on their farm
  22. 0:38we love it keep coming to us give us a
  23. 0:40call we're happy to answer any questions
  24. 0:42that you might have give you a little
  25. 0:43bit of insight
  26. 0:44into some of the work that we've done
  27. 0:45but let's get started today we're
  28. 0:46talking
  29. 0:47how drones are being used on farms in
  30. 0:492021 and how you might want to consider
  31. 0:51using one on your farm let's get started
  32. 0:53first let's talk about mapping both rgb
  33. 0:55and multi-spectral
  34. 0:56drones like the dji phantom 4 rtk make
  35. 0:59amazing ortho mosaic
  36. 1:01maps it makes things quick and easy and
  37. 1:03it gives you centimeter level accuracy
  38. 1:06on your maps
  39. 1:06you can literally take measurements
  40. 1:08using the maps that you generate from
  41. 1:10the phantom 4 rtk and it's going to be
  42. 1:12almost as accurate as you
  43. 1:13standing out there with a tape measure
  44. 1:15measuring it yourself really incredible
  45. 1:17technology it does not take long
  46. 1:19to learn how to use this software it
  47. 1:21does not take long to learn how to use
  48. 1:22this drone you can fly a map
  49. 1:24depending on how big the area is you can
  50. 1:26fly a map in a couple of minutes it
  51. 1:27really is that easy and it's all
  52. 1:29self-automated so you basically go into
  53. 1:31your remote control or you could do it
  54. 1:32through dji tera on your computer if you
  55. 1:34want to
  56. 1:35but you go in and you set the area that
  57. 1:36you would like to map the drone comes up
  58. 1:38with its path it comes up with the
  59. 1:39different
  60. 1:40angles it needs to take so that it can
  61. 1:42make a full 3d map and then you put
  62. 1:44those photos into dji tara which creates
  63. 1:46your 3d model this gives you the ability
  64. 1:48to see the change in your terrain
  65. 1:50over time you could do a map every
  66. 1:51single day if you wanted to take a look
  67. 1:53at each individual day and see how
  68. 1:55things are changing it can help with
  69. 1:56irrigation management and
  70. 1:58all sorts of other issues on the farm
  71. 2:00when it comes to your land
  72. 2:01the other drone we recommend is the dji
  73. 2:03phantom 4 multi-spectral it's very very
  74. 2:05similar to the dji phantom 4 rtk
  75. 2:07you can do many of the same functions
  76. 2:08with it except this one also has a
  77. 2:10multi-spectral sensors on it you get six
  78. 2:12of them you get an rgb camera and five
  79. 2:14other sensors that are gonna give you an
  80. 2:16idea on your plant health so that you're
  81. 2:18not
  82. 2:18surprised when half of your field dies
  83. 2:21you're going to get this drone up in the
  84. 2:22air it's going to be able to tell you if
  85. 2:23there's a certain section of your field
  86. 2:25that is struggling so that you can go
  87. 2:27out you can figure out what's going on
  88. 2:28and come up with a prescription
  89. 2:30to fix it before it's too late these are
  90. 2:32really really powerful tools and like i
  91. 2:33said they are not that hard to learn i
  92. 2:35know it
  93. 2:36seems like a lot if you're not somebody
  94. 2:37who's super tech savvy
  95. 2:39that's what we're here for to answer
  96. 2:40questions to help you get through this
  97. 2:42process
  98. 2:42and to help integrate drones into your
  99. 2:44farm next up let's talk about seeding in
  100. 2:47spring now you can take the information
  101. 2:48that you get from the phantom 4
  102. 2:50multispectral
  103. 2:51and you can upload that to your dji
  104. 2:53aggress t20 this is a giant agricultural
  105. 2:56spraying drone it also has a spreader
  106. 2:58you can put on can carry 20 liters of
  107. 3:00pesticide and can cover more than 20
  108. 3:02acres in an hour
  109. 3:03really amazing technology what's great
  110. 3:05about this is it actually cuts back on
  111. 3:06your
  112. 3:07need to use pesticides so by using the
  113. 3:09dji phantom 4 multispectral you'll see
  114. 3:11the areas of your field that are weak
  115. 3:13you're going to be able to figure out a
  116. 3:14prescription for it
  117. 3:15and then you'll spray that area and
  118. 3:17instead of covering the entire field
  119. 3:19you're going to be able to just
  120. 3:20cover that problem area it's going to
  121. 3:21save you some money on pesticide you can
  122. 3:23also use a drone like this for other
  123. 3:25things on the farm we actually loaded it
  124. 3:26up
  125. 3:27with some liquid de-icer and used it on
  126. 3:29our driveway we had a bunch of thick ice
  127. 3:31there after we had a snow storm and then
  128. 3:32a little bit of rain that came
  129. 3:34so we used that on our driveway and it
  130. 3:36worked it's a really great tool i know
  131. 3:37it's intimidating but it's great to use
  132. 3:39on the farm for many many different
  133. 3:41reasons
  134. 3:41next up let's talk about pollination
  135. 3:43pollination i know that wasn't something
  136. 3:45we had actually thought about either
  137. 3:47but we had a customer last year who
  138. 3:48actually landed his airplane in our
  139. 3:50backyard that was kind of cool but he
  140. 3:51was interested in using our big spraying
  141. 3:53drones like the t16 or the t20 the ones
  142. 3:55that have the really big blades on them
  143. 3:57he wanted to use that to pollinate his
  144. 3:59field sounds kind of crazy but it's
  145. 4:01actually pretty simple and
  146. 4:02could be pretty useful for many people
  147. 4:04on the farm they just fly really low
  148. 4:05over the plants that kicks things up and
  149. 4:07pollinates the rest of their field
  150. 4:09really interesting way to use a drone
  151. 4:11next up let's talk about livestock
  152. 4:12monitoring do you have a lot of sheep do
  153. 4:14you have a lot of cattle
  154. 4:15well using a drone can be a good way to
  155. 4:17keep an eye on them
  156. 4:18a farm in new zealand use the dji mavic
  157. 4:202 enterprise series
  158. 4:22this one has a speaker on it what they
  159. 4:23did is they recorded a dog barking into
  160. 4:25the speaker
  161. 4:26then they play that bark out through the
  162. 4:28drone itself through that speaker
  163. 4:30you can see it here and they found that
  164. 4:32it's been a really good way to herd
  165. 4:34their sheep and cattle around the farm
  166. 4:36you could also use a thermal camera so
  167. 4:38the mavic 2 enterprise dual
  168. 4:39has a low grade thermal on it but what's
  169. 4:41great about that is you could actually
  170. 4:42take this drone out
  171. 4:44at night if you've got the proper
  172. 4:45authorization to do so if you don't we
  173. 4:47can help you get that as well
  174. 4:48but you could take that drone out at
  175. 4:49night and actually get their heat
  176. 4:51signatures
  177. 4:52so you could count you could see all of
  178. 4:54your sheep all of your cattle
  179. 4:55you can see their heat signatures in the
  180. 4:57middle of the night and know exactly
  181. 4:58where they are
  182. 4:59you're gonna know if there is a predator
  183. 5:01around you could see coyotes
  184. 5:02or any other predator that is around
  185. 5:04your farm and make sure
  186. 5:06that you are taking the proper steps to
  187. 5:07protect your animals next up is crop
  188. 5:09scouting now recently we've started
  189. 5:11working with a company
  190. 5:12named hudson crop insurance they are
  191. 5:14using drones with their insurance
  192. 5:16adjusters around the country
  193. 5:17to investigate claims so they're able to
  194. 5:19pop the drone up in this case it's the
  195. 5:21mavic 2
  196. 5:21enterprise zoom they've got six times
  197. 5:24zoom range on that drone
  198. 5:25so they can investigate a claim without
  199. 5:27having to send
  200. 5:28an adjuster out into the middle of a
  201. 5:30field where they could potentially
  202. 5:31roll an ankle and get hurt fall down any
  203. 5:34number of things could happen this is
  204. 5:35saving them money it's saving them a lot
  205. 5:37of time
  206. 5:37it's cutting way down on the time it
  207. 5:38takes to complete a claim so
  208. 5:40really happy to see hudson crop
  209. 5:41insurance using drones in this way
  210. 5:43and we think more and more people around
  211. 5:45the country are going to start using
  212. 5:47them in the exact same way
  213. 5:48all right so we are clearly just
  214. 5:50scratching the surface on this there are
  215. 5:51many uses for drones on the farm what
  216. 5:53about you are you using a drone on your
  217. 5:55farm are you using it in a way that i
  218. 5:56didn't mention here today
  219. 5:57let us know in the comments but make
  220. 6:00sure you hit like and subscribe and hit
  221. 6:02the bell notification i hate doing those
  222. 6:04sort of
  223. 6:04plugs but i think in this case if you
  224. 6:07are interested in drones and agriculture
  225. 6:09we are going to be covering
  226. 6:10a lot of this information over the
  227. 6:12coming months in our videos and we don't
  228. 6:13want you to miss it
  229. 6:14thank you so much for stopping by we'll
  230. 6:16see you next time
  231. 6:19[Music]
  232. 6:23you
