Top 25 Upcoming NEW Indie Games of September 2026 — Transcript
Full transcript
- 0:00September looks like it's going to be
- 0:01absolutely stacked since developers are
- 0:04getting out of the way of GTA. So, the
- 0:06best indie games begins with Scarlet
- 0:08Skips, a silly one-button roguelite
- 0:10about skipping rope where you simply
- 0:11have to press, hold, and release a
- 0:13single button with the right timing to
- 0:15play the game. Successful jumps
- 0:17increases a meter which allows you to
- 0:19level up where you then choose between
- 0:21three random power-ups roguelite style
- 0:24to raise your jump height, add another
- 0:26jump rope, or even set the rope on fire.
- 0:29Being interesting in concept with
- 0:31physics and fan service, Utterly Lost is
- 0:34a super cozy open-world adventure about
- 0:36a curious sea otter named Otto swept
- 0:39away far from home and has to find his
- 0:41way back with his favorite rock in tow.
- 0:44Use the rock as a tool breaking through
- 0:46obstacles and opening up treasures where
- 0:48you can upgrade your abilities over time
- 0:50so you swim faster, jump higher, climb
- 0:53more easily, and glide further. Meet and
- 0:56help other animals from an ancient
- 0:58turtle to an aspiring frog singer. Also
- 1:01having accessories and quirky hats to
- 1:04equip and simply looks like the cutest.
- 1:07This video is brought to you by Void
- 1:09Wood, a one-to-four player co-op
- 1:10survival horror game where you play as
- 1:12children trapped in a cursed forest.
- 1:14Your own voice is a key mechanic, one
- 1:16that keeps you alive or gets everyone
- 1:18killed. Players gather resources, craft
- 1:21weapons and tools, and prepare during
- 1:23the day, but there's only so much time
- 1:25to grab what you need. Once nightfall
- 1:27comes, the forest summons the beast, an
- 1:30apex predator that hunts by sound and
- 1:33will track you and your friends down.
- 1:35That means calling out supplies, warning
- 1:37a friend, or whispering the plan all
- 1:39becomes risks you have to weigh because
- 1:42one wrong sound and the hunt is on.
- 1:44Survive the night with what you found,
- 1:46regroup at camp, and use those materials
- 1:49in your plan the next day as you look
- 1:51for a way to escape before you fall
- 1:53victim to the woods. Void Wood comes out
- 1:56next year on PC and you can wish list
- 1:58the game on Steam via the link in the
- 2:00description below. I first came across
- 2:03Yummy kids on Twitter since the
- 2:05developer of the Pokémon like Dokapon
- 2:07Quest worked on this and similarly is a
- 2:09dark retro style monster taming RPG
- 2:12starring the Yummy twins Yuki and Yumi
- 2:15as they hunt down the people that killed
- 2:17their family. [music] The monsters here
- 2:19are known as Oni with over 80 of them to
- 2:22contract, train and battle with in
- 2:24classic turn base combat. But you do
- 2:27have to be careful not to get on an
- 2:29Oni's bad side. Participate in shadow
- 2:32duels, death matches that only happen at
- 2:35night against rival contractors and
- 2:37losing one drags you into the
- 2:39underworld, a place of strange items and
- 2:41mysterious locations which you have to
- 2:43explore and stay a while before being
- 2:46able to return to the living world. Of
- 2:48course, I absolutely love the look of
- 2:50this game since the pixel arts is on
- 2:52point plus my soft spot for the genre.
- 2:55Having grown up with Pokémon makes this
- 2:57a no-brainer. It is not quite October
- 2:59but we do have a number of spooky games,
- 3:02one of which is Welcome to Elder field,
- 3:04a cozy horror RPG where the abnormal is
- 3:07normal. The townsfolk are odd and
- 3:09eldritch beings lurk in the darkness as
- 3:12the local news gets weirder and weirder.
- 3:15You run a farm but not just any farm
- 3:17since alongside corn and pumpkins you
- 3:20will be growing teeth and eyeballs as
- 3:22well. Managing otherworldly livestock
- 3:25and fending off monstrosities before
- 3:27they take over. There are other life sim
- 3:29elements including fishing, mining,
- 3:32foraging, home decoration and townsfolk
- 3:34you can befriend or even marry all with
- 3:37a very creepy and effective art style.
- 3:40There is combat but instead of the Zelda
- 3:42style real time combat in games like
- 3:44Stardew Valley, this instead has a turn
- 3:47base system more akin to JRPGs with
- 3:50perhaps a bit of a fear and hunger vibe,
- 3:53and while not exactly my favorite art
- 3:55style, I do think it is very impressive
- 3:57and nails exactly what they are going
- 3:59for. Similarly, I love the art in Golden
- 4:02Swirl, a dark fantasy action deck
- 4:04builder that runs in semi-real time. So,
- 4:07instead of trading turns, you're
- 4:09physically dodging attacks while
- 4:10deciding which cards to play. Select
- 4:12from four playable characters, each
- 4:14starting with their own relics and card
- 4:16pools, then add on over 100 relics, 130
- 4:20cards, and card runes, and you have
- 4:22plenty of potential synergies to
- 4:24explore. There's something called the
- 4:26Golden Wheel system, where every choices
- 4:29you make ripples through the game,
- 4:31affecting the path forward as well as
- 4:33the condition of your character, and
- 4:35thus also change your decks. Every
- 4:37expedition is procedurally generated
- 4:39with new layouts, enemies, and
- 4:41treasures, which provides replayability.
- 4:43Also, having a cast of more than 20 NPCs
- 4:46which have cool designs, each having
- 4:48their own tragic story to explore, and
- 4:50simply looks awesome. Infinity Hexadome
- 4:53Tactics is a turn-based tactics game
- 4:55with a hero shooter influence. So, think
- 4:58turn-based Overwatch, and you might get
- 5:00the idea. In this world, fights are an
- 5:02arena bloodsport staged for a crowd
- 5:05rather than actual battles, where you
- 5:07build a squad from 12 champions, each
- 5:10specializing in range combat, melee,
- 5:12control, or support, having to capture
- 5:15and hold objectives to score, weighing
- 5:17risk and reward as you use clever
- 5:19combinations of skills to seize the
- 5:21advantage. There are deck-building
- 5:23elements with dozens of tactical cards
- 5:26feeding into hundreds of combos used in
- 5:28synergy with the hero combinations. The
- 5:31campaign reveals more about the world
- 5:33match by match, while also unlocking new
- 5:35champions and cosmetics, and once you're
- 5:37done with that, PvP should be where it
- 5:39shines. This is set in the Infinity
- 5:42universe, a sci-fi setting with more
- 5:44than 25 years of history, so a video
- 5:46game adaptation is nice to see and will
- 5:49be for fans of the genre. Freight Train
- 5:52is a third-person survival horror
- 5:53roguelite with anthropomorphic animals
- 5:56set aboard an enormous train speeding
- 5:58through Antarctica with the monsters
- 6:00already inside. You play as paranormal
- 6:03special agent Doug Bucker, get it,
- 6:06answering a distress signal from the LRS
- 6:08Great White, a locomotive research
- 6:11station owned by the secretive Shark
- 6:13Corporation. You have to keep the train
- 6:15moving, monitoring its condition, and
- 6:17repairing it at terminals where stopped
- 6:20train means freezing to death or meeting
- 6:22whatever lurks out there in the
- 6:24blizzard. As per genre norms,
- 6:27in-the-train management is critical
- 6:29since big and medium items physically
- 6:31occupy space on your body and where you
- 6:34store them determines how quickly you
- 6:35can use them. So, a magazine on your
- 6:38chest can be replaced more quickly than
- 6:40one on your lower back. Enemies interact
- 6:43with each other, supporting or
- 6:45sabotaging their own side, and many have
- 6:47armor and weak points which you need to
- 6:49exploit. Well, I like the art style of
- 6:51this game as well. I've been looking
- 6:54forward to Wind Runners for a long time,
- 6:56but this had its ups and downs with the
- 6:58developer having to take on contract
- 6:59work on another game to keep the lights
- 7:01on. And over time, the art style of this
- 7:04changed from pure pixel art to one that
- 7:06mixes in 3D models. So, whatever the
- 7:09case may be, we will finally get the
- 7:11finished product next month. This is a
- 7:13high-speed bullet hell dog fighting
- 7:15roguelite where you play as a rebel
- 7:17fighting against a ruthless
- 7:18techno-feudal regime known as the realm.
- 7:21Pick from one of three Wind Runners,
- 7:23each with a unique play style, then
- 7:25decide which mission to go on, whether
- 7:27that means disrupting supply lines,
- 7:28destroying key fortresses, or liberating
- 7:31an oppressed world. Combat is precise as
- 7:33you dash and dodge through converging
- 7:35fire while turning your own firepower
- 7:38onto relentless waves of enemies. Key to
- 7:40these are the Saints, bosses that rule
- 7:43through fear, and each one commands a
- 7:45colossal cardinal beast. So, encounters
- 7:48escalate into boss fights where you have
- 7:50to learn their movement and attack
- 7:51patterns to be successful. Every run
- 7:53[music] counts since you progressively
- 7:55unlock new weapons and upgrades, which
- 7:57open up new synergies to play with,
- 7:59looking absolutely amazing and will be
- 8:02for love roses fans. The core title of
- 8:05interest is We Were Here Mates, where
- 8:07you and a friend take control of two
- 8:08tiny RC cars answering a call for help
- 8:11from a professor who has vanished from
- 8:13his own home laboratory. Everything is
- 8:15scaled from a toy car's point of view,
- 8:17so shelves become race tracks, a
- 8:19cluttered writing desk turns into an
- 8:22obstacle course, and an ordinary room
- 8:24turns into an entire level to explore.
- 8:27Coordinate with your partner to solve
- 8:29puzzles depending on communication,
- 8:31timing, and each player's contribution,
- 8:34with various upgrades changing what your
- 8:36car can do from rope swings, magnetic
- 8:38wheels, and magnet grabs, enabling you
- 8:41to progress forward. New parts of the
- 8:43house open up as you go, so you discover
- 8:45hidden rooms and backtrack as you move
- 8:47through familiar places in new ways as
- 8:50you figure out what happened to the
- 8:51professor, and it sure looks like fun
- 8:53with a friend. Dragon Shelter is a cozy
- 8:56farming sim set in a fantasy world where
- 8:58long ago the friendship between humans
- 9:00and dragons has dissolved, but you are
- 9:03the one to reignite it. As per farming
- 9:05game setup, you inherit your grandpa's
- 9:07abandoned farm, having to revitalize it
- 9:10and the community nearby, but of course
- 9:12have the help of dragons in this game.
- 9:15They each have unique traits and special
- 9:17powers that enable them to help around
- 9:19the farm, and caring and playing with
- 9:21them turns the dragons into companions
- 9:23who can sense what people need and lend
- 9:26magical help where [music] it is needed.
- 9:28Growing crops, gathering resources, and
- 9:30crafting goods restores the land, with
- 9:32the cooking system being at the center
- 9:34of it all since meals strengthen bonds
- 9:37with neighbors, lift spirits, and opens
- 9:39up new opportunities, decide where every
- 9:42harvest goes, from cooking, alchemy, or
- 9:44trade, depending on what you need at
- 9:46that point in time. Well, I love both
- 9:48the farming sim and the monster taming
- 9:50genre, so a blend of both is of interest
- 9:53to me. An ambitious-looking title is
- 9:55Nocturne, a pixel art story-driven RPG
- 9:58with rhythm combat set 1,000 years after
- 10:01humanity vanished and left only the
- 10:03digital afterlife behind. You play as a
- 10:05character named Karma on a quest to find
- 10:08his brother, awakening in this strange
- 10:10world and having to find your way
- 10:12forward, and in doing so, might just end
- 10:14up saving humanity's collective
- 10:16consciousness. Battles are entirely
- 10:17skill-based, so timing your attacks to
- 10:20the beat lends critical hits, while
- 10:22missing too many notes, hence the
- 10:24initiative back to your opponent. There
- 10:26are six difficulty levels, meaning that
- 10:29rhythm game veterans and total beginners
- 10:31can both enjoy this game. It is a
- 10:33full-on RPG with levels, stats,
- 10:35equipment, shops, exploration, and
- 10:37secrets, with some impressive enemy and
- 10:40boss designs with unique gimmicks and
- 10:42animations as well. There are 101
- 10:45original tracks in this game, replayable
- 10:47in an arcade mode for chasing high
- 10:49scores once you're done with the story,
- 10:51with boss music being recorded live by
- 10:54the Slovak National Symphony Orchestra,
- 10:57so expect some impressive music in this
- 10:59game. Well, this is one of the top 350
- 11:03most wish-listed games on Steam for good
- 11:05reasons. The other major co-op title of
- 11:07the month is Orbitals, a two-player
- 11:09puzzle adventure set in a stunning retro
- 11:12anime world where you and a friend play
- 11:14as Makky and Omura, two inseparable
- 11:16explorers with far more determination
- 11:19than experience, whose station home is
- 11:21crumbling inside a supernatural cosmic
- 11:23storm. Getting help means piloting a
- 11:26ship out through perilous asteroid
- 11:28fields and into mysterious abandoned
- 11:30stations packed with dangers and puzzles
- 11:33that only two explorers together can
- 11:36overcome. The co-op is asymmetric, so
- 11:38each character has their own unique
- 11:40tools, and the path forward opens only
- 11:42when both of you communicate clearly.
- 11:44Being playable in local split-screen or
- 11:47online with no single player at all, but
- 11:49the visuals are the key draw and looks
- 11:52so good, so more games that look like
- 11:54this, please. Moonlighter 2: The Endless
- 11:56Vaults releases out of early access and
- 11:58is a shopkeeping action RPG with
- 12:01roguelite elements where you play as
- 12:02Will running a shop by day and raiding
- 12:05interdimensional vaults by night. This
- 12:07is the follow-up to the tremendously
- 12:09popular original which put developer
- 12:11Digital Sun on the map, but this sees
- 12:13our hero stranded penniless in a new
- 12:16village, so the whole cycle restarts
- 12:18with faster, more dynamic combat across
- 12:21four weapon classes, armor sets, and
- 12:23nearly 100 shop and dungeon perks. Also
- 12:26making the jump to 3D from pure pixel
- 12:28art. Backpack management is key as you
- 12:30carefully select what to keep and what
- 12:32to drop to maximize profits with a
- 12:35risk-reward system since if you fall in
- 12:37combat, you do lose the loot you have
- 12:39gathered. Back at the shop, you set
- 12:41prices, negotiate with customers,
- 12:43capitalize on events, and lay out the
- 12:45displays to squeeze out more profit,
- 12:47being more of the same in many ways with
- 12:50the full release adding the story ending
- 12:52and more content. Another 1.0 release is
- 12:54Stick It to the Stick Man, a
- 12:56physics-based brawler about literally
- 12:58climbing the corporate ladder by beating
- 13:00up heaps of red stick men to death on
- 13:02the way up. You create your build from
- 13:04hundreds of unique moves, everything
- 13:06from the deadly arts of the handshake to
- 13:08an exploding hot punch, plus staple
- 13:11guns, jackhammers, hadoukens, and
- 13:13chainsaws mixing and matching for
- 13:15maximum lethality. Select from 20
- 13:17classes spread across four game modes
- 13:20with procedural generation meaning that
- 13:22no two playthroughs will be exactly the
- 13:24same with the satirical commentary on
- 13:27corporate jobs being the distinguishing
- 13:29point. Half of office life here is
- 13:31kicking colleagues out the windows and
- 13:33the rest involves suppressing
- 13:34protesters, kidnapping building
- 13:36inspectors, and other dubious errands
- 13:39all designed to maximize shareholder
- 13:41profits as you fight your way to become
- 13:43CEO. Having a level editor for you to
- 13:46create levels and it's simply a wacky
- 13:48well-made one of these where developer
- 13:50Free Lives has not missed yet across all
- 13:53their games and I wonder what's next
- 13:55from them. Delverium is a survival
- 13:57sandbox adventure for one to eight
- 13:59players that follows in the footsteps of
- 14:01games like Terraria and Core Keeper set
- 14:04in a vast procedurally generated world
- 14:06with something called the Faults
- 14:07spreading through it. This has extensive
- 14:10life sim elements so on top of gathering
- 14:12resources and building shelters, you can
- 14:14also till soil and plant crops, breed
- 14:17animals, catch fish, and cook everything
- 14:20you harvest before heading underground
- 14:22for high-risk dungeon crawling and
- 14:24mining in the other major half of the
- 14:26game. Crafting includes food, tools,
- 14:28weapons, [music] armor, and building
- 14:30materials with quality of life features
- 14:32like nested crafting and an expandable
- 14:35inventory reducing the busy work.
- 14:37Recruited NPCs move into a settlement
- 14:39[music] and unlock valuable trading
- 14:41options all helpful to powering you up
- 14:44as you uncover the mysteries of the
- 14:45Faults and restore stability to the land
- 14:48where games like this can become
- 14:50absolute juggernauts and this has a good
- 14:52chance of doing so. A sequel of interest
- 14:55is TOEM, a cozy photography adventure
- 14:57game where you once again are put behind
- 14:59a camera having to document mysterious
- 15:01events known as TOEMs. Exploration is
- 15:04gentle but active since you run, jump,
- 15:06and climb [music] through all new
- 15:08environments looking for hidden paths,
- 15:10scenic viewpoints, and the tiny [music]
- 15:12details. There are camera attachments
- 15:14this time around used to solve puzzles
- 15:16in unconventional ways but for the most
- 15:18part you're still snapping photos to
- 15:20help people, [music] uncovering secrets,
- 15:22and documenting your discoveries. Quirky
- 15:24characters and adorable critters fill
- 15:27the world, where lending a hand builds
- 15:29friendships, earning you collectible
- 15:31stamps to fill out your journal from
- 15:33those you helped, which does scratch
- 15:35that completionist itch in me, looking
- 15:37super cozy as well. And if the first
- 15:39game is any indication, this will be
- 15:41worth a play. One more 1.0 release is
- 15:44TCG Card Shop Simulator, where the story
- 15:47behind this game is kind of insane as
- 15:49well, coming from, I believe, a solo
- 15:51developer out of Malaysia, and has sold
- 15:53a stupid number of copies, and like
- 15:56Vampire Survivors, kicked off a whole
- 15:58trend of both first-person job sim
- 16:00titles, as well as the more niche down
- 16:02first-person shop sim games. You're
- 16:04running your own local card game store,
- 16:07ordering stock, unpacking and displaying
- 16:09them on shelves, and selling them to
- 16:11your customers. But you do have to
- 16:13decide which booster packs to sell and
- 16:15which to open for yourself. Every pack
- 16:17you crack open adds to your collection,
- 16:20giving you the excitement and thrill of
- 16:22doing so, especially when you find a
- 16:24rare card, where these in turn can be
- 16:26sold as singles, but the rest of the
- 16:28so-called junk cards have to be dealt
- 16:30with in another way. You do have to
- 16:32upgrade and manage the shop, designing
- 16:34the layout and organizing the shelves,
- 16:36setting prices, and hosting game nights
- 16:39to become a cornerstone of the local
- 16:41community. The 1.0 release adds not only
- 16:44new cards, but the full Tetramon TCG, so
- 16:47you can actually play the game, adding a
- 16:49new game within the game, which is
- 16:51awesome, with the core management
- 16:52gameplay loop being fun enough on its
- 16:54own, so this is just the gravy on top.
- 16:58Sproul Zero is a first-person shooter
- 17:00and a sequel to a game from 2023, but
- 17:02where that was more parkour and
- 17:04movement-focused, this instead has you
- 17:06playing as a tank. It takes inspiration
- 17:08from 2000s console FPS games, right down
- 17:11to the Y2K aesthetic, dropping you into
- 17:14a cyberpunk city collapsing under
- 17:16military rule and cult fanaticism. You
- 17:18play as Five, a cybernetically enhanced
- 17:21super soldier controlled by the junta
- 17:23and ordered to eliminate Silas, leader
- 17:26of a techno-religious faction. Enemy
- 17:28squads communicate and coordinate,
- 17:30flanking you and using covering fire and
- 17:33grenades to flush you out, which is
- 17:35where the fear and Heat and Run
- 17:36comparisons come in. So, outmaneuver and
- 17:39outsmart your opponents to gun them
- 17:41down. In addition to shooting, you will
- 17:43get access to gravity gloves, which pull
- 17:45weapons across the room to you, the
- 17:47gravity shield, which catches incoming
- 17:49bullets and throws them back, bullet
- 17:51time, which bends shots midair, and rush
- 17:54down, which makes you briefly
- 17:56invulnerable and extra destructive.
- 17:58Choose from over 40 weapons that cover
- 18:00distinct roles, each with their own
- 18:02mastery paths, with no procedural
- 18:04generation here, only handcrafted
- 18:06levels, and definitely looks like
- 18:08old-school cool. Dungeon Settlers is a
- 18:11dark fantasy game that is one part
- 18:13RimWorld and one part Dungeon Crawler,
- 18:15where you play as the leader of a guild
- 18:17expedition tasked with destroying the
- 18:19dungeon causing calamity in the region.
- 18:21Above ground, you build a settlement on
- 18:23barren land, placing walls and doors to
- 18:26make bedrooms and dining areas, setting
- 18:29up a forge with anvils and smelters,
- 18:31cultivating fields and turning what you
- 18:33grow into rations and camping supplies
- 18:36for the next descent, with research
- 18:38unlocking new buildings and equipment.
- 18:41Your guild members are simulated
- 18:42characters rather than just nameless,
- 18:45faceless fodder units, having up to six
- 18:47major abilities, dozens of stats and
- 18:49traits drawn from race, background, and
- 18:52personality. Four of them form a party,
- 18:54ideally designed around synergistic
- 18:56skills used in real-time with pause
- 18:59combat, similar to a CRPG, with
- 19:02permadeath of characters, which raises
- 19:04the stakes and could be a big hit as
- 19:06well. We also have the release of the
- 19:07highly anticipated Shroom and Gloom, a
- 19:10first-person roguelike double deck
- 19:11builder that got a lot of attention due
- 19:14to the art style, all about hacking and
- 19:16roasting away through hand-drawn
- 19:18dungeons full of monstrous mushrooms.
- 19:20The double deck is the gimmick, where
- 19:22you have a combat deck that handles the
- 19:23fights, while a separate explore deck
- 19:26allows you to better navigate the
- 19:27dungeon, modify your cards, and unlock
- 19:30new weapons and abilities, where cards
- 19:32can be grown infinitely, turning a weak
- 19:34starting attack into an overpowered
- 19:36monster of a card. Or, you can twist a
- 19:39rare card into something that breaks the
- 19:41game entirely. Blocking takes a backseat
- 19:43to eating, so you season, skewer, or
- 19:46roast whatever attacks you, and then
- 19:47consume it to restore health, and
- 19:50throwing roasted enemies into a pot
- 19:52cooks up soups that can change up a run
- 19:54as well, and could be the next big deck
- 19:57builder. We did also get the release
- 19:58date announcements for Graveyard Keeper
- 20:002, the sequel to the most inaccurate
- 20:02medieval cemetery sim ever made, where
- 20:05this time you become the Grand
- 20:06Inquisitor with a zombie apocalypse to
- 20:09deal with. Managing your graveyard is
- 20:11still the core of the game, being a
- 20:12farming sim-adjacent title with other
- 20:15things to do as you harvest flora,
- 20:17fauna, and human remains to build
- 20:19extraordinary machinery and automate
- 20:21production far beyond what the first
- 20:23game allowed. Your undead workers handle
- 20:25the heavy lifting, which turns the
- 20:27town's problems into a scalable and
- 20:29profitable operation, while you help
- 20:31residents rebuild their homes while
- 20:33secretly milking them for every coin
- 20:36available. Large-scale warfare is also
- 20:38new, where you lead the zombies into
- 20:40battle, craft powerful armor and weapons
- 20:43to arm and train them, and build towers
- 20:45and fortifications to defend your town,
- 20:47with the dark humor and funny writing
- 20:49being a key aspect as well, and it's
- 20:51going to be a massive title. Wanderbug
- 20:54has previewed extremely well, a medieval
- 20:56action roguelike where you drive a
- 20:58castle on wheels, and just has the juice
- 21:00in terms of game feel. Everything in
- 21:03front of you is food, so fleeing
- 21:04villagers, wandering flocks of sheep,
- 21:07and smaller fortresses or feed the
- 21:08growth of enemy castles push your
- 21:10evolution further when you crush them.
- 21:13Your fortress expands as you upgrade
- 21:15with modular pieces bolted together,
- 21:17including cannons, arcane towers, stuff
- 21:19with wizards, explosive steam-powered
- 21:22siege engines, and more. Knights ride
- 21:24bicycles into battle, so it's kind of
- 21:26silly and weird, essentially bringing
- 21:28Feeding Frenzy to the modern age in
- 21:30their own way and looks very compelling.
- 21:32Between runs, you unlock new siege
- 21:34weapons, new structures, vehicles,
- 21:36artifacts, and captains that steadily
- 21:38expand the possible builds with multiple
- 21:41biomes and difficulty [music] levels to
- 21:42play as well. One of the most insane
- 21:45titles is Nivalis Nights, a cyberpunk
- 21:47slice-of-life sim set in a city
- 21:49stretching from the ocean to the clouds,
- 21:51where you start with a humble noodle
- 21:53stand and work your way towards owning
- 21:55the district's best restaurants and
- 21:57premier nightclubs. This has the same
- 21:59setting as their previous game,
- 22:00Cloudpunk, but where you play as a
- 22:02delivery driver, so this instead has you
- 22:05underground, so to speak, running a
- 22:07small business. Grow your business by
- 22:09keeping customers satisfied and
- 22:10reinvesting profits, buying or growing
- 22:13ingredients yourself to build up the
- 22:14foundation. From there, purchase new
- 22:16businesses and upgrade your home, but
- 22:18also take the time to explore the city
- 22:21and build bonds with the city's strange
- 22:23residents. There are darker elements
- 22:25here since a mysterious serial killer is
- 22:27operating from the shadows, and you can
- 22:29do black hat activities like sabotaging
- 22:32a rival shop to get ahead, but do bear
- 22:34in mind that the same can be done to
- 22:36you, with the cyberpunk setting and
- 22:38totalitarian administration contributing
- 22:41to the vibes as well. If the stress of
- 22:43business gets too much, you can take a
- 22:45boat out and go fishing or participate
- 22:48in side activities like a cyberpunk
- 22:50chess tournament, all under a realistic
- 22:53weather system, and just looks so good,
- 22:55perhaps giving us a glimpse into our
- 22:57cyberpunk future. I'm excited for Well
- 23:00Dweller since developer Kyle Thompson
- 23:02has gone from strength to strength. But
- 23:04I still remember covering Sheepo back in
- 23:062020 followed by Islets and Crypt
- 23:09Custodian, which have both been
- 23:10excellent titles. Which is why this dark
- 23:13fairytale Metroidvania is of interest.
- 23:15You play as Plume, a tiny bird living at
- 23:17the bottom of a well and armed with
- 23:19nothing but a match stick, having to
- 23:22burn the wicked queen of a wretched
- 23:24kingdom in order to save his family. The
- 23:26match stick does double duty lighting
- 23:28the way ahead, but also being used in
- 23:30combat. Mix and match trinkets, which is
- 23:33the main upgrade system, perhaps similar
- 23:35to charms in Hollow Knight, affecting
- 23:37how you fight and move, but also gaining
- 23:40Metroidvania style exploration and
- 23:42traversal [music] abilities. Looking
- 23:43stunning as well, and is a must play for
- 23:46fans of the genre. 2026 has been an
- 23:48insane year for indie games, where we
- 23:51will also be getting the 1.0 release of
- 23:53Valheim after more than five and a half
- 23:55years in early access. This made waves
- 23:58during the early access launch and since
- 23:59then. And it's a brutal action survival
- 24:02crafting game for one to 10 players, set
- 24:04in a procedurally generated purgatory,
- 24:06drawing from Norse mythology and Viking
- 24:09culture. You arrive as a dead Viking
- 24:11with something to prove to Odin, which
- 24:13means gathering materials, crafting
- 24:15weapons, armor, tools, and ships, and
- 24:17defeating a series of enormous bosses
- 24:20that dictate what you can build and
- 24:21where you can go next. With every biome
- 24:24having its own resources and recipes.
- 24:26Combat is stamina based, so some souls
- 24:28like influence, where you do have to
- 24:30prepare with just health, since weapon
- 24:32types, blocking styles, range attacks,
- 24:35dodges, and parries all matter. With the
- 24:37food you eat before a fight buffing you
- 24:40up as well. The construction and
- 24:42building system accounts for structural
- 24:44integrity and ventilation, so you cannot
- 24:46just build a simple box with the 1.0
- 24:48adding a new end game area in the deep
- 24:51north along with more enemies, tools,
- 24:53and wildlife. And it's currently the
- 24:55number 15th most reviewed games on all
- 24:58of Steam, which translates to a stupid
- 25:00number of copies sold. Watch this video
- 25:02for more of the best indie games.
