Top 10 Animals That Love Being High — Transcript

- 0:00let's get the easy ones out of the way
- 0:01and slowly work our way up to the worst
- 0:03Defenders on the list number 10 cats
- 0:06this one is more of a misconception
- 0:08rather than an animal actually abusing a
- 0:10substance if you have a cat then you've
- 0:12more than likely tried giving them
- 0:13nepetec kataria or better known as
- 0:15catnip now this one is not really a drug
- 0:17like the others on the list and is
- 0:19actually an herb that is very closely
- 0:21related to Mint but it does contain a
- 0:23compound called nepotalactone which can
- 0:25have a mild and temporary stimulant
- 0:27effect on some cats and that's the thing
- 0:29with catnip some cats are affected by it
- 0:31and will go absolutely crazy for It
- 0:34While others just remind you that you
- 0:35cannot buy their love and they still
- 0:37don't want anything to do with you now
- 0:39catnip has many different effects on
- 0:41cats but here are the most common ones
- 0:43they will roll around in it they will
- 0:45become very hyper after they ingest it
- 0:47or they might just become very relaxed
- 0:49number nine Dolphins this is another
- 0:52common one that most people have
- 0:53probably heard of everybody loves
- 0:55telling the story when they themselves
- 0:56are under the influence so let's just
- 0:58get this one out of the way yes it's
- 1:00true dolphins are the real menaces of
- 1:02the ocean and are despicable losers who
- 1:04love to get high
- 1:06they do this by first surrounding a
- 1:08puffer fish and proceeding to take turns
- 1:10lightly biting on it not only will they
- 1:12nudge and bite the puffer fish the pot
- 1:14of dolphins will take it a step further
- 1:16by launching him out of the water and
- 1:17playing catch with him making sure that
- 1:19that puffer fish is completely
- 1:20traumatized for the rest of its
- 1:22existence
- 1:23and as you can imagine this causes the
- 1:25puffer to go into a full Panic
- 1:27triggering its defense mechanism
- 1:29releasing a toxic poison called
- 1:31tetrodotoxin which is one of the most
- 1:33deadly poisons in the world to put it
- 1:35into perspective one puffer fish has
- 1:36enough poison to kill 30 adult humans or
- 1:39about 15 average size Americans now even
- 1:43though it's deadly dolphins have learned
- 1:44exactly how much of the poison they can
- 1:46tolerate without dying they've actually
- 1:48been filmed passing the puffer around
- 1:50for 20 to 30 minutes at a time before
- 1:52letting it swim off the effects that the
- 1:54poison has on the Dolphins is pretty
- 1:56interesting they seem to go into a
- 1:58euphoric state where they become very
- 2:00calm and relaxed even being mesmerized
- 2:03and completely fascinated by their own
- 2:05reflection on the surface of the water
- 2:07number eight Birds okay now we're
- 2:10getting to the ones that most people
- 2:11have not heard of but have probably seen
- 2:13firsthand have you ever come across a
- 2:15dead bird that crashed into a window or
- 2:17building and you sit there wondering how
- 2:19is it possible that it had unlimited
- 2:21airspace to fly around in and and yet
- 2:24still managed to crash well the truth is
- 2:26that it was probably flying Under the
- 2:28Influence this usually happens after the
- 2:30first Frost which causes fruits and
- 2:32berries to ferment producing ethanol a
- 2:35type of alcohol and of course Birds know
- 2:37this they will then proceed to eat as
- 2:39much of the fermented fruit or berries
- 2:41as they can to get completely hammered
- 2:44and in certain parts of the world bird
- 2:45alcoholism is on the rise just look at
- 2:48Yukon Canada where they have built a
- 2:50sanctuary for birds that have had too
- 2:52much of the booze which is basically a
- 2:54drunk tank for Birds here they are
- 2:56placed in tiny cages until they sober up
- 2:59but as soon as they do they are released
- 3:01back into the wild where they can
- 3:02continue boozing so next time you see a
- 3:05bird that isn't flying straight just
- 3:06remember he's probably a degenerate good
- 3:08for nothing alcoholic number seven honey
- 3:11bees this one is similar to number eight
- 3:13as most people probably won't know this
- 3:15one but once you hear about it you'll
- 3:17realize that you've come across it at
- 3:19one point in your life now this one is a
- 3:21little more violent and doesn't have the
- 3:23ending that you would find at a massage
- 3:24parlor have you ever come across a
- 3:26honeybee that's crawling on the floor
- 3:28and doesn't seem to want to fly as a kid
- 3:30I used to think that this was because
- 3:32the bee had recently stung someone and
- 3:34is now dying a horrible and painfully
- 3:36slow death
- 3:38but now as an adult I am way more
- 3:40informed now when I come across a
- 3:42crawling bee I now know that it's either
- 3:44completely blocked out drunk or dying a
- 3:47horrible and painfully slow death
- 3:49you see when the temperatures rise the
- 3:51nectar implants can become fermented and
- 3:54you guessed it it becomes alcohol so
- 3:56when bees go to collect pollen from the
- 3:58plant and drink some of that sweet
- 3:59fermented nectar they get completely
- 4:02drunk and this is when you might find a
- 4:04bee that has lost all control of its
- 4:06sense of direction and motor skills now
- 4:08the sad part is if by some miracle the
- 4:11bee manages to return back to its hive
- 4:13it will have to go through the guard
- 4:15bees think of these guys as the bouncers
- 4:17of the hive but a lot more violent
- 4:19aggressive and heartless if a drunk Bee
- 4:21shows up to the hive one of two things
- 4:24will happen he will either get a
- 4:26lifetime ban from The Hive or get his
- 4:28arms torn off Wings torn off legs torn
- 4:30off and Tennis torn off and eyes torn
- 4:32out and die a horrible and painfully
- 4:34slow death
- 4:36but don't worry it's all done for the
- 4:38sake of the colony since fermented
- 4:40nectar in the hive can cause the entire
- 4:42colony to collapse number six fruit
- 4:45flies researchers at a San Francisco
- 4:48University have found that male fruit
- 4:49flies don't handle rejection very well
- 4:52the research shows that when male fruit
- 4:54flies are rejected by a potential
- 4:56partner they actually seek out alcohol
- 4:59who would have thought that I had so
- 5:01much in common with the fly
- 5:03number five vervet monkeys now this is
- 5:06the last animal on the list that belongs
- 5:07in an AAA meeting and the reason why
- 5:10they rank so high on the list is simply
- 5:11because they're not just alcoholics but
- 5:14they are outright disgusting criminals
- 5:16when these monkeys can't get their fix
- 5:18from fermented fruit they turn to a life
- 5:20of crime stealing alcohol from tourists
- 5:23and they're damn good at it they
- 5:25patiently wait in the shadows for the
- 5:26perfect opportunity and the moment a
- 5:28person sets their drink down will be
- 5:30their first mistake because as soon as
- 5:32you look away it's already too late the
- 5:35monkey will have its greasy little hands
- 5:36on it and already slurping the alcohol
- 5:38down they do have some of the coolest
- 5:40pictures though so I'll give them that
- 5:42these monkeys are such a problem that
- 5:44the Caribbean island of Saint Martin has
- 5:47recently passed a bill that would allow
- 5:48them to exterminate all the monkeys
- 5:50apparently all 450 of them you know as
- 5:54soon as I said that last part I realized
- 5:55that I probably could have left that
- 5:57part out number four the black lemur now
- 6:00we're moving on from puffer fish and
- 6:02alcohol and moving onto the hard stuff
- 6:04okay to be fair puffer fish is pretty
- 6:06insane but a lot of people already knew
- 6:08that one so I put that at the top of the
- 6:09list but let's move on starting off with
- 6:11the black lemur who would have thought
- 6:13that these cute animals from the island
- 6:14of Madagascar would turn out to be such
- 6:16despicable and heinous creatures
- 6:20the black lemur has a diet primarily
- 6:22made up of fruit but on occasion it does
- 6:25love to consume a toxic combination of
- 6:27chemicals which include cyanide it's
- 6:29able to consume this when it finds a
- 6:31millipede and begins to lightly chew on
- 6:33it this causes the millipede to curl up
- 6:35and release a toxic chemical that is
- 6:37meant to deter animals from eating it
- 6:39but to the Lemur this chemical just
- 6:41signals to the boys that they're in for
- 6:43a wild night
- 6:45unlike the others on the list there is
- 6:46actually one health benefit for getting
- 6:48their hands on this dangerous Toxin and
- 6:50after just one hit from the millipede
- 6:52the Lemur begins to drool uncontrollably
- 6:54they then begin to rub the saliva and
- 6:57toxins all over their body to protect
- 6:59themselves from mosquitoes which carry
- 7:01malaria but don't think it's all
- 7:03business the Lemurs continue to take
- 7:05hits from the centipede consuming more
- 7:07and more of the toxin until they are
- 7:09completely obliterated it reaches the
- 7:12point that they are so high that the
- 7:14only option left is to sleep it off
- 7:16number three reindeer remember that
- 7:19little red mushroom from the Mario games
- 7:21as I'm sure you've heard its real name
- 7:23is Amanita muscaria and it's insanely
- 7:26toxic and brings on some very intense
- 7:28hallucinations but this doesn't seem to
- 7:30matter to the reindeer of Siberia Russia
- 7:32which actually go to Great Lengths to
- 7:34seek it out and consume it once it's
- 7:36ingested and the effects kick in they
- 7:38begin to act in a very strange way they
- 7:40end up running around aimlessly and
- 7:42begin making strange noises but the
- 7:44reason the reindeer is so high on the
- 7:46list is simply because they are a bad
- 7:48influence on others apparently humans
- 7:50watch them eat the magic mushrooms and
- 7:52they made it look so fun that we just
- 7:54had to try it for ourselves some people
- 7:57got incredibly high and began to have
- 7:59some of the most intense and Vivid
- 8:01hallucinations While others died
- 8:05and instead of saying you know what we
- 8:07took a nail on this one boys and we
- 8:08should probably avoid these mushrooms
- 8:10from here on out no someone had the
- 8:13brilliant idea of consuming the urine of
- 8:15the reindeer instead since he believed
- 8:17that the urine would sterilize the
- 8:19toxins but keep the effects of the
- 8:21mushrooms intact and he was right and
- 8:24after that humans and reindeers could go
- 8:26on wild hallucinogenic trips together
- 8:28some people even believe that this is
- 8:30how the story of Santa Claus was created
- 8:31this theory is called the magic mushroom
- 8:34Christmas Theory number two Jaguars I
- 8:37guess even an apex predator needs a
- 8:39break from killing and ripping other
- 8:40animals apart they do this by seeking
- 8:43out the yage vine which is one of the
- 8:45major ingredients when creating
- 8:46Ayahuasca arguably the strongest
- 8:48hallucination drug on Earth and once the
- 8:50cat consumes it and the effects kick in
- 8:52they begin to turn into a big Goofy
- 8:54intoxicated kitten a clip from BBC
- 8:56caught this all on tape a few years ago
- 8:58and it's pretty interesting to watch the
- 9:00native people of the Amazon claim that
- 9:02the Jaguars consumed this drug since it
- 9:04heightens their senses improving their
- 9:06ability to hunt but they're in denial
- 9:08the cat simply does it to discover
- 9:09things about the universe that he would
- 9:11otherwise not know like how Willy Wonka
- 9:13was a serial killer similar to jigsaw
- 9:14but instead of doing his experiments on
- 9:16adults he would do them on children and
- 9:17nobody ever batted an eye number one
- 9:20parrots now this one had to go last due
- 9:23to the severity of the situation in
- 9:25Northern India these birds are so
- 9:27addicted to Opium that the farmers have
- 9:28reported taking massive losses in
- 9:30Revenue due to these birds alone these
- 9:32farmers who have special permission to
- 9:34grow the plant from a distance personal
- 9:35companies have tried everything under
- 9:37the sun to stop these birds from eating
- 9:39their plants and it's not uncommon to
- 9:41see a parrot Fly Away with an entire
- 9:43opium pod to himself apparently a single
- 9:46parrot will come down and take a bite of
- 9:48the Opium milk 30 to 40 times a day and
- 9:51the sad part is since opium is a hard
- 9:53drug with very real consequences to
- 9:54health the moment the parrots become
- 9:56addicted to it they are as good as dead
- 9:59because as soon as the farmers harvest
- 10:01the plant the birds are left with such
- 10:03horrible withdrawals that it ends up
- 10:05costing them their lives and parrots
- 10:07falling from trees and electrical lines
- 10:09becomes a common occurrence but it
- 10:12doesn't stop there in the following year
- 10:14once the Farmers plant the next batch of
- 10:16opium the vicious cycle starts all over
- 10:18again like a never-ending nightmare
