  24. 1:01So, to get started, let's talk a little
  25. 1:02bit about the program. Um, the
  26. 1:05Tomorrow's Leaders program is sponsored
  27. 1:07by the Department of State's US Middle
  28. 1:09East Partnership Initiative, also known
  29. 1:11as MEPY. The program offers scholarships
  30. 1:14for highly qualified undergraduate
  31. 1:16students who demonstrate financial need.
  32. 1:20There are currently more than 1,000
  33. 1:21Tomorrow's Leaders alumni all over the
  34. 1:23Middle East and North Africa region
  35. 1:26serving as leaders and making an impact
  36. 1:27in their communities.
  37. 1:30A few other important pieces of
  38. 1:32information that we have for you is that
  39. 1:34the application is now open. It did open
  40. 1:37a couple weeks ago. The deadline for
  41. 1:40submitting your application is November
  42. 1:4225th. So, you have plenty of time to get
  43. 1:44started and put together a great
  44. 1:46application.
  45. 1:48And um the link for the application
  46. 1:51um is on our website and we can also go
  47. 1:54ahead and drop that in the chat.
  48. 2:00I will do that in just one second.
  49. 2:11I got
  50. 2:12>> Oh, okay. Tina, you got it. Um, yes, the
  51. 2:15link to the website is in the chat and
  52. 2:18once you're on the website, there's a
  53. 2:20big red button that says apply.
  54. 2:24So, let's talk a little bit about the
  55. 2:26partner institutions that we work with.
  56. 2:28Um, first off is the American University
  57. 2:31in Cairo. Founded in 1919, AU is a
  58. 2:34leading English language US accredited
  59. 2:37institution of higher education. Its
  60. 2:40diverse community of students, faculty,
  61. 2:43alumni, trustees, and generous
  62. 2:45supporters represents more than 60
  63. 2:47countries. AU has the largest English
  64. 2:50language academic library in Egypt,
  65. 2:52three modern theaters, and 12
  66. 2:54cross-disciplinary research centers. The
  67. 2:57university's modern 260 acre new Cairo
  68. 3:00campus constitutes a vision visionary
  69. 3:03investment in the future of Cairo,
  70. 3:05Egypt, and the region. There's a
  71. 3:07state-of-the-art facility for advanced
  72. 3:09research, innovative teaching, lifelong
  73. 3:11learning, and community engagement.
  74. 3:15And our second partner, AUB, was founded
  75. 3:17in 1866
  76. 3:19and bases its educational philosophy,
  77. 3:21standards, and practices on the American
  78. 3:23liberal arts model of higher education.
  79. 3:26A teaching centered research university,
  80. 3:28AUB has around 800 instructional faculty
  81. 3:32and a student body of around 8,000
  82. 3:34students.
  83. 3:35AUB's main campus has a total of 64
  84. 3:38buildings. And the 60.9 acre campus
  85. 3:42overlooking the Mediterranean Sea
  86. 3:44includes athletic fields, a private
  87. 3:46beach, bird sanctuary, and a repository
  88. 3:49of native and non-native trees and
  89. 3:50shrubs.
  90. 3:52And finally, our um third partner, the
  91. 3:55Lebanese American University, was
  92. 3:57founded in 1924. And AU Lau now boasts
  93. 4:01two campuses overlooking the
  94. 4:03Mediterranean Sea. One in the
  95. 4:05cosmopolitan city of Beirut and the
  96. 4:07other in the historic city of Biblo. As
  97. 4:10a student- centered learning community,
  98. 4:12LU places emphasis on career and
  99. 4:14professional education in an environment
  100. 4:18that's both intellectually challenging
  101. 4:19and supportive. fostering personal and
  102. 4:22academic development. LU has
  103. 4:24approximately 8,300 students across uh
  104. 4:28enrolled across seven schools.
  105. 4:37So, we'll talk a little bit here about
  106. 4:40the eligible countries and territories
  107. 4:42for the program. As I mentioned, the
  108. 4:44application is open and we're actively
  109. 4:46recruiting applicants from the following
  110. 4:4812 countries and territories.
  111. 4:51Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan,
  112. 4:55Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Syria, Tunisia,
  113. 4:59the West Bank in Gaza, and Yemen. And
  114. 5:02please note that US citizens and
  115. 5:04permanent residents are not eligible to
  116. 5:06apply.
  117. 5:08And if you are an applicant living in
  118. 5:10the West Bank or Gaza, you should apply
  119. 5:12under West Bank or Gaza, even if you
  120. 5:14have a passport from a different
  121. 5:16country. as well. If you're a refugee
  122. 5:19living outside your country or territory
  123. 5:21of citizenship, you are still eligible
  124. 5:23to apply for the program. Um, for
  125. 5:25example, if you're a Syrian refugee
  126. 5:27living in Tunisia, you should indicate
  127. 5:30on your application that you are Syrian.
  128. 5:33And from here, I'll go ahead and pass it
  129. 5:35over to my colleague Madison.
  130. 5:39Hi everyone. I'm Madison. I'm a program
  131. 5:42officer with the Tomorrow's Leaders
  132. 5:43program. So let's talk a little bit more
  133. 5:45about undergraduate eligibility. So in
  134. 5:48addition to our country requirements,
  135. 5:50there are other eligibility requirements
  136. 5:51for the undergraduate applications. So
  137. 5:54let's go over some of those. So if
  138. 5:56you're under 18 years of age at the time
  139. 5:58you submit your application, you must
  140. 6:00have parental permission to apply. So to
  141. 6:03apply to the undergrad graduate program,
  142. 6:06you must be a current high school senior
  143. 6:08or have graduated from high school in
  144. 6:112025. Now, for applicants from Iraq,
  145. 6:14Libya, Syria, the West Bank and Gaza,
  146. 6:17and Yemen, if you graduated in 2024, you
  147. 6:20are also eligible. To remain eligible,
  148. 6:23current high school seniors must
  149. 6:25maintain their high academic achievement
  150. 6:27and pass their exit exam. We're also
  151. 6:30looking for stu for applicants who have
  152. 6:31strong academic credentials and who are
  153. 6:34mature and adaptable. Leadership
  154. 6:36potential is a very important factor.
  155. 6:38You must demonstrate throughout your
  156. 6:39application materials that you have
  157. 6:41leadership skills and aspire to become a
  158. 6:43leader in your community after you
  159. 6:46graduate. We also require written
  160. 6:48proficiency uh in written and spoken
  161. 6:50English. We will go over our English
  162. 6:52requirements in more details in a few
  163. 6:54minutes. But for the undergraduates,
  164. 6:56please note that the applicants must
  165. 6:58have a minimum TOEFL IBT score of 80
  166. 7:02received within 2 years of the program
  167. 7:04start date. So that would be received
  168. 7:06within two years of August of 2026.
  169. 7:10Applicants must also be able to travel
  170. 7:12and start their undergraduate program in
  171. 7:14the fall 2026 semester, which is usually
  172. 7:16in August, depending on the university
  173. 7:18start date. Another important factor is
  174. 7:21financial need. Applicants should be
  175. 7:23accomplished students who demonstrate
  176. 7:24financial need. And next slide, please.
  177. 7:29All right, great. So, we've touched on
  178. 7:31these attributes a bit in the previous
  179. 7:33slides, but be sure to include them in
  180. 7:35your application when you're filling it
  181. 7:36out. So, the attributes that we're
  182. 7:38looking for in a tomorrow's leader
  183. 7:41include we're looking for people who
  184. 7:42show strong leadership qualities, have a
  185. 7:45strong academic background
  186. 7:48serviceoriented, and serviceoriented
  187. 7:50means doing activities that help others,
  188. 7:52community service, and volunteer
  189. 7:54activities. We're also looking for
  190. 7:56applicants who have advanced or
  191. 7:58intermediate English skills, speaking,
  192. 8:01reading, writing, and comprehension.
  193. 8:03We're looking for candidates who show
  194. 8:05maturity and adaptability, and
  195. 8:07candidates who demonstrate financial
  196. 8:08need. So, while responding to the
  197. 8:11questions in the applications, provide
  198. 8:13as many examples as possible of how you
  199. 8:16already demonstrate these attributes in
  200. 8:18your life. And now, I will pass it along
  201. 8:20to my colleague, Dalia.
  202. 8:23>> Thank you, Madison. Um all right so I'm
  203. 8:26going to move on to talk about the
  204. 8:28application components. U so listed on
  205. 8:30the slide here are required components
  206. 8:33for the um application that you will
  207. 8:35need. So for example we're going to need
  208. 8:38your applicant like your personal
  209. 8:39information. You will need to enter your
  210. 8:41personal information such as your family
  211. 8:43name, the date of births of your like
  212. 8:45father, mother, yourself, also your
  213. 8:48transcripts and stuff like that. Um, and
  214. 8:51then you have the free online English
  215. 8:53assessment by the Arizona State
  216. 8:54University ASU test. Please make sure um
  217. 8:58you look into that and do it. It will
  218. 9:00take to 30 to 45 minutes to test online.
  219. 9:04It's free, so you do it while you're
  220. 9:06working on your application. Um, please
  221. 9:09use the same email address uh for your
  222. 9:12Tomorrow's Leaders application as well
  223. 9:13as your um Arizona State University
  224. 9:16English test or English assessment.
  225. 9:18Okay.
  226. 9:19Um, moving on to the other component is
  227. 9:22your personal statement. So, we have the
  228. 9:25written or video. So, a fif a 500word
  229. 9:28essay or a 5 to six minute video
  230. 9:31responding to the prompts in the
  231. 9:32application. So, once you go into the
  232. 9:34applications, there's a list of prompts.
  233. 9:35You're going to pick one and respond to
  234. 9:37an either an essay or video. Uh, you
  235. 9:40don't need to do both um for the
  236. 9:43personal statement. So either video or
  237. 9:45either essay, but we highly encourage to
  238. 9:48do the video. We get to, you know, see a
  239. 9:50little bit more of you. Um, community
  240. 9:54involvement essay. So there's another
  241. 9:56essay as well. It's 500 words as well
  242. 9:59responding to a prompt that's listed in
  243. 10:01the application. So essay only. There is
  244. 10:04no option for the video for this one. So
  245. 10:07um, take the time to, you know, select
  246. 10:11your prompt to do it. So, copies of your
  247. 10:13transcript. Um, so we're going to need
  248. 10:16your 10th grade, 11th grade, and 12th
  249. 10:18grade if you have graduated. If you
  250. 10:20haven't graduated from high school yet,
  251. 10:22um, you're a current senior, we would
  252. 10:24just need your u 10th and 11th grade
  253. 10:26transcripts. Um, documentation of um, so
  254. 10:30those transcripts um are going to be
  255. 10:32needed. Uh, another component is
  256. 10:34documentation of up to three
  257. 10:37extracurricular activities and
  258. 10:39volunteering activities that best
  259. 10:41represent why you should be the one for
  260. 10:42the tomorrow's leaders program. So, um,
  261. 10:45I know some of you might do more than 10
  262. 10:48activities or whatever number you have,
  263. 10:52just select three up to three that best
  264. 10:54represent your skills as a leader in the
  265. 10:56community. Um, so another component is
  266. 11:00contacts for two recommenders. So the
  267. 11:02recommendations so we need two
  268. 11:04recommenders. Important information on
  269. 11:06selecting the recommener is like the
  270. 11:08best person to provide a recommendation
  271. 11:10is someone who knows you and knows your
  272. 11:12academic history and character
  273. 11:15extensively. So teachers, school
  274. 11:17administration, administrators and
  275. 11:19coaches are examples of appropriate
  276. 11:21recommenders. Um supervisors or
  277. 11:24volunteers or community work may also
  278. 11:26provide a recommendation. At least one
  279. 11:29of the re recommendations must be from
  280. 11:31an academic reference. Um f friends and
  281. 11:34family members may not serve as
  282. 11:36recommenders. Please avoid asking your
  283. 11:38family for or friends for
  284. 11:41recommendation. Uh strong leadership
  285. 11:44potential and academic performance are
  286. 11:45important um selection criteria for the
  287. 11:48tomorrow's leaders program and the
  288. 11:50recommener should provide a positive
  289. 11:52endorsement and that enables the
  290. 11:54admissions committee to better
  291. 11:56understand the applicant's full
  292. 11:57personality and character. The
  293. 12:00recommendation form can can play a
  294. 12:02crucial role in supporting your
  295. 12:04application. So make sure your
  296. 12:06recommenders know they will be receiving
  297. 12:08an email from the tomorrow readers
  298. 12:09program. So the email address would be
  299. 12:12no [email protected].
  300. 12:14So just bring that to their attention.
  301. 12:16Also another note, if your recommener
  302. 12:19doesn't speak or write in English, the
  303. 12:21form is also available at the same time
  304. 12:23in Arabic. So they can recommend you in
  305. 12:25Arabic if they need to.
  306. 12:28Another component is household
  307. 12:30information like financial information.
  308. 12:32You will be asked to provide household
  309. 12:34financial information as part of the
  310. 12:36application. At the end of the
  311. 12:38application, you will receive a link.
  312. 12:40That is very important. Okay? Please
  313. 12:42sign it and it's called an attestation.
  314. 12:45So, you have to confirm that
  315. 12:47information. Sign it and then uh provide
  316. 12:50make sure like you know it's accurate,
  317. 12:52truthful and then once you complete it,
  318. 12:55you sign it and you must finish the step
  319. 12:58for your application to be considered
  320. 13:00submitted. Okay. Um you only need to
  321. 13:04fill out the tomorrow's leaders
  322. 13:05application. So, um you don't need to do
  323. 13:08any other supplemental applications with
  324. 13:09the partner universities.
  325. 13:12So, uh we have another webinar coming up
  326. 13:14on October 1st that will be a full
  327. 13:16walkthrough of the application. We would
  328. 13:18love to see you there. Um so, the
  329. 13:20webinar will offer more details on how
  330. 13:22to complete your application package
  331. 13:24accurately. It will also be uploaded to
  332. 13:26the YouTube after words to um for
  333. 13:29reference. So, it's going to be a
  334. 13:31helpful webinar for you to go step by
  335. 13:33step into the application.
  336. 13:36All right. So, next slide.
  337. 13:39So, we're looking for students who speak
  338. 13:41intermediate to advanced English. Um,
  339. 13:44it's required that applicants of the
  340. 13:45Tomorrow's Leaders program speak
  341. 13:47English. The language um the language
  342. 13:49obstructions at the universities which
  343. 13:51tomorrow's leaders attend is English. We
  344. 13:54require all applicants to take a free
  345. 13:57online English test as a part of
  346. 13:59submitting their application, which is
  347. 14:00the Arizona State University test that I
  348. 14:03had mentioned earlier. It's a ASU test.
  349. 14:06Um this is um
  350. 14:08uh the it takes 30 to 45 minutes
  351. 14:12conducted online through the Arizona
  352. 14:14State University. You should take the
  353. 14:16exam while you are working on your
  354. 14:17application. You will submit your score
  355. 14:20from this exam as part of your completed
  356. 14:22application. Please use the same email
  357. 14:24address like I said for your tomorrow's
  358. 14:26leaders application and as the one you
  359. 14:29use to register for the free ASU test
  360. 14:32and anything else related to applying to
  361. 14:34the TLE program. So just make sure your
  362. 14:36email address is the same. Do not switch
  363. 14:38it up. Um after submitting your
  364. 14:41application, our team will review your
  365. 14:43application file. If you are
  366. 14:44shortlisted, you may be asked to take
  367. 14:46the TOEFL. So if you have not already
  368. 14:49taken the TOEFL or the ISIS exam, the
  369. 14:51cost of taking this exam is covered by
  370. 14:53the program provided you are short
  371. 14:55shortlisted.
  372. 14:57Um the typical range for TOEFL score of
  373. 14:59a successful applicant to be um to the
  374. 15:02tomorrow's leaders program is between
  375. 15:05six 76 to 80% for the TOEFL. This is a
  376. 15:09minimum component that applicants need
  377. 15:11to be considered. This is not the only
  378. 15:13component. However, tomorrow's leaders
  379. 15:16are evaluated on multiple components for
  380. 15:18admissions to the program
  381. 15:21as um if you have uh so you must have
  382. 15:24you know the the TOEFL score at least of
  383. 15:2880 and the eyelets is six. We still
  384. 15:30encourage you to apply. There is
  385. 15:32potential for supplemental language
  386. 15:33training after the final interviews for
  387. 15:35the selected finalist to improve their
  388. 15:37English skills. Well-qualified
  389. 15:39candidates who pass the interview um
  390. 15:43stage but may need additional English
  391. 15:44language training may be able to apply
  392. 15:46for a free 8-week online intensive
  393. 15:49session provided by the Arizona State
  394. 15:52University to help improve their English
  395. 15:54skills before the university classes
  396. 15:56begin. So that's another um thing we
  397. 16:00could we offer. Um so next slide.
  398. 16:05All right. So program benefits. Um, the
  399. 16:07scholarship covers tuition and enormous
  400. 16:10fees for those selected. It also covers
  401. 16:12university housing on campus. The
  402. 16:15on-ampus housing is a double occupancy.
  403. 16:17So, meaning you will have a roommate in
  404. 16:20the in the dorm. A monthly living stipen
  405. 16:23is provided um when the student is
  406. 16:25participating in the TL activities. All
  407. 16:27students get university health
  408. 16:29insurance, textbooks, and a laptop. For
  409. 16:32international students who are studying
  410. 16:33in Egypt or Lebanon, the program covers
  411. 16:36the visa fees, residency fees, and two
  412. 16:38roundtrip tickets to return home each
  413. 16:40year. During winter and summer breaks,
  414. 16:42if students choose to return home, they
  415. 16:44will not receive a stipen unless they
  416. 16:46are completing their internship
  417. 16:48requirements. So, um there are some
  418. 16:51things you have to pay attention to.
  419. 16:53All right. So um the study abroad
  420. 16:56component the tomorrow's leader study
  421. 16:58abroad experience serves to broaden
  422. 17:01international perspective um advance
  423. 17:03academic professional and leadership
  424. 17:05skills um increase English language
  425. 17:08proficiencies and increase workforce
  426. 17:10readiness. This experience supports
  427. 17:12participants program of study and
  428. 17:14academic goals. It also encourages
  429. 17:16participate participation in the
  430. 17:18community activities that support
  431. 17:20professional and leadership development.
  432. 17:22So the purpose of uh the study abroad is
  433. 17:25to learn about the US culture and share
  434. 17:27your culture with people in the US.
  435. 17:29Participate in leadership and community
  436. 17:31engagement activities to obtain new
  437. 17:33professional and personal skills. Gain
  438. 17:35experience in a US classroom added to
  439. 17:37your resume. Expand your personal and
  440. 17:39professional network and also um engage
  441. 17:43with your host university and host
  442. 17:45community to learn from and connect with
  443. 17:47each other. So, um,
  444. 17:51now we'll pass it to Tina.
  445. 17:56>> Great. Thank you. Um, so now we've told
  446. 18:00you a lot about uh the requirements of
  447. 18:04the program. Um, but
  448. 18:08we wanted to let you know a little bit
  449. 18:10of what past participants have said. Um,
  450. 18:14I really like this quote from Yousef.
  451. 18:16Being part of the tomorrow's leaders
  452. 18:18program strengthened my leadership
  453. 18:20skills and encouraged me to be an agent
  454. 18:22for positive change in the world around
  455. 18:25me. Uh and also if we go to the next
  456. 18:28slide
  457. 18:31um these two women had the following to
  458. 18:36share. The tomorrow's leaders program
  459. 18:38taught me to go way beyond my comfort
  460. 18:40zone. I learned how to think critically,
  461. 18:42have problem have a problem solving
  462. 18:44mindset and dream big. And I had to say
  463. 18:49that my tomorrow's leaders experience
  464. 18:52was enriching and fruitful. The support
  465. 18:54and encouragement I received made me
  466. 18:57more resilient and independent. I think
  467. 18:59it's really wonderful to hear
  468. 19:04in their own words what participants in
  469. 19:07this program have to say about the
  470. 19:09program. there's a lot of support and a
  471. 19:11lot of benefit um that's received.
  472. 19:14Um
  473. 19:16so this is just a sampling of the more
  474. 19:19than a thousand alumni that have
  475. 19:21participated in this program around the
  476. 19:23world. Um and one of our upcoming
  477. 19:27webinars in the future will be an alumni
  478. 19:29panel so you can hear even more from
  479. 19:32them. Um but that's coming up in the
  480. 19:35future. Uh if we can go to the next
  481. 19:37slide.
  482. 19:40Uh, so what's next? We really encourage
  483. 19:42you to go to our website. Um, and if I
  484. 19:46might have the screen share right now,
  485. 19:48Molly, I will uh
  486. 19:52show people a little bit about the
  487. 19:53website.
  488. 20:06Okay. So, this is the Tomorrow's Leaders
  489. 20:08website. The address for it is in the
  490. 20:10chat. Um, when you click here, this big
  491. 20:13red button, this is how you apply. Um,
  492. 20:16it's also available in Arabic. Um, if
  493. 20:19you'd prefer to read the content there
  494. 20:21in this upper right hand corner, you can
  495. 20:23switch between the two. We have a
  496. 20:25timeline that kind of shows what the
  497. 20:28steps are in the process. These um these
  498. 20:32times are approximate, but they give you
  499. 20:34a good breakdown um of what
  500. 20:40I'm sorry my screen share didn't go
  501. 20:42through. There we go. Let's try that
  502. 20:45again.
  503. 20:48So, this is the timeline I was talking
  504. 20:50about. Um
  505. 20:52the times are approximate, but they give
  506. 20:55you a pretty good understanding of the
  507. 20:57flow of the program. So, I encourage you
  508. 20:59to check that out. As I was showing
  509. 21:01before, on our homepage, um there's a
  510. 21:04big apply now button that will take you
  511. 21:06to the application.
  512. 21:09We have FAQs. If you have a question,
  513. 21:11the answer is probably here. Um if
  514. 21:15you're wondering what fields of study
  515. 21:18there might be, you can click on fields
  516. 21:20of study and they are listed for each
  517. 21:24of our three partner universities.
  518. 21:28Um,
  519. 21:30and we also have this news
  520. 21:33section that will give you some tips and
  521. 21:35tricks. Um, and we update that
  522. 21:37throughout the um throughout the open
  523. 21:41application cycle. So, check back there.
  524. 21:43Um, it's very, very good information.
  525. 21:46And I'm going to stop sharing and give
  526. 21:49it back to you, Molly.
  527. 22:00Okay. Uh so what comes next? We've told
  528. 22:03you about the requirements of the
  529. 22:04program, shown you the website, you know
  530. 22:07where you can apply. Uh as some of my
  531. 22:09colleagues have mentioned, our next
  532. 22:11webinar will be an application
  533. 22:13walkthrough. It's going to be on October
  534. 22:151st and that will go step by step
  535. 22:18through the application process um and
  536. 22:21all of the questions in the application.
  537. 22:23So, I highly uh encourage you to
  538. 22:25register. There will be registration
  539. 22:27links on all of our social media and on
  540. 22:29our website probably starting tomorrow.
  541. 22:32Um, so look out for that and register.
  542. 22:35And then um,
  543. 22:38excuse me.
  544. 22:41Um, and that be aware that the
  545. 22:43application date is November 25th, the
  546. 22:46deadline. Uh, so make sure you plan
  547. 22:48ahead and have all your answers in by
  548. 22:51November 25th. and follow us on social
  549. 22:54media because that's where all the
  550. 22:55updates come out. Um, and that's what
  551. 22:57will keep you informed of the process.
  552. 23:01So, I think now we will go to the
  553. 23:06questions.
  554. 23:08Let's see what we have.
  555. 23:13Um, okay.
  556. 23:19So, uh, Molly, do you want to come on
  557. 23:22screen and answer some questions?
  558. 23:26>> Absolutely.
  559. 23:27>> Okay. Um, does a total score of less
  560. 23:32than 80% in grades 11 and 10 affect my
  561. 23:35chances of acceptance?
  562. 23:38>> So, when we evaluate applications, we're
  563. 23:41looking for an overall GPA of around 80.
  564. 23:45Um, if you are close to that, we would
  565. 23:47still very much uh encourage you to
  566. 23:50apply and we'll consider your
  567. 23:52application. Um, it's an average across
  568. 23:56all of your years of high school.
  569. 23:58>> Okay. Um, if my level is B1 in English,
  570. 24:02would I be accepted?
  571. 24:05>> So, we're looking for students that have
  572. 24:07intermediate language skills in English.
  573. 24:10Um, I believe B1 is around intermediate.
  574. 24:14if I'm um understanding that scale
  575. 24:17correctly. So, I would still very much
  576. 24:19encourage you to apply to the program
  577. 24:20and to see um what happens with your
  578. 24:23application.
  579. 24:25Great.
  580. 24:27Um
  581. 24:29can I wait until I'm accepted to take
  582. 24:31the TOEFL or do I have to do it before I
  583. 24:35complete my application?
  584. 24:38>> Sure. So shortlisted candidates um are
  585. 24:41typically asked to take the TOEFL exam
  586. 24:44and if you are shortlisted the program
  587. 24:46will pay the fees for the TOEFL. Um
  588. 24:49you're welcome to take the TOEFL before
  589. 24:52um
  590. 24:53uh any possible short listing. Um but
  591. 24:57you would have to pay for that on your
  592. 24:59own. So I wouldn't necessarily recommend
  593. 25:00that. You can wait and see if you're
  594. 25:02shortlisted and take the TOEFL at a
  595. 25:04later time. It's not a problem.
  596. 25:09[Music]
  597. 25:11Okay, let's see.
  598. 25:14Um,
  599. 25:17does does this program cover a graduate
  600. 25:21or master's degree or is it only for
  601. 25:23undergraduates?
  602. 25:26>> So, this year we're only accepting
  603. 25:27applications for the undergraduate
  604. 25:29program. And if you're interested in the
  605. 25:32graduate program, please monitor our
  606. 25:35social media channels. um for any
  607. 25:37updates regarding that program. Okay.
  608. 25:40Um
  609. 25:49so this is a Palestinian refugee who is
  610. 25:52residing in Lebanon currently. Um so
  611. 25:56when they're picking their qualifying
  612. 25:58country, what should they select?
  613. 26:02>> Yeah, this is really common. Um, if you
  614. 26:05are a Palestinian refugee, you should
  615. 26:06apply as under West Bank and Gaza on the
  616. 26:10application, even if you're living in
  617. 26:12another country like Lebanon or Syria or
  618. 26:14anywhere else.
  619. 26:16>> And you can select West Bank or Gaza,
  620. 26:20whichever one you prefer if you're in
  621. 26:22that situation.
  622. 26:23>> Yes.
  623. 26:25Um,
  624. 26:31do we have to do both TOEFL and IELTS
  625. 26:35and the supplemental ASU training?
  626. 26:40Great question. Um, so the ASU English
  627. 26:44test is required as part of the
  628. 26:46application. So, when you start filling
  629. 26:48out your application, you'll be required
  630. 26:51to take uh that free online test through
  631. 26:54ASU. There's a link in the application.
  632. 26:56You'll click on it. It'll take 30 45
  633. 26:59minutes and you'll submit your score
  634. 27:00with your application. Um, so that is
  635. 27:03required. Please do that as part of your
  636. 27:04application. Um, regarding TOEFL and
  637. 27:07IELTS, you won't be required to take
  638. 27:10both. Don't worry about that. Um, if
  639. 27:12you're shortlisted, you will most likely
  640. 27:15take um, TOEFL, but sometimes depending
  641. 27:18on your circumstances um, and test
  642. 27:21availability, we use the IELTS exam as
  643. 27:23well.
  644. 27:26>> Um,
  645. 27:39[Music]
  646. 27:44Is there a chance to be shortlisted if
  647. 27:46your grades range from 75 to 78 for
  648. 27:50grades 10 and 11?
  649. 27:55Yeah, like I mentioned before, we're
  650. 27:56looking for students that have an
  651. 27:58overall GPA of 80 in high school. Um
  652. 28:01that being said, if you are close to 80,
  653. 28:04please do um apply for the program and
  654. 28:07we will consider all of the applications
  655. 28:09that we receive holistically. Um so I
  656. 28:13would still encourage you, you know, to
  657. 28:15fill out the application and we'll take
  658. 28:18a look at everything that you have
  659. 28:19holistically.
  660. 28:21Okay. Um what factors are considered
  661. 28:25most during the selection process?
  662. 28:29So, this is a leadership program.
  663. 28:31Leadership is extremely important on
  664. 28:33your application and um we really want
  665. 28:36to see how you've helped others, how
  666. 28:40you've given back to your community, and
  667. 28:42how you're already being a leader um in
  668. 28:45your school and in your community today.
  669. 28:47So, that one is very important. Uh we're
  670. 28:51looking for students that are
  671. 28:52academically accomplished. So, you know,
  672. 28:55demonstrating to us um what you've done
  673. 28:59at school and that you're, you know, a
  674. 29:01very good student. We're looking for
  675. 29:03students who have strong academic
  676. 29:05credentials and um like was mentioned as
  677. 29:08well, we're looking for students that
  678. 29:10have demonstrated financial need. So,
  679. 29:13the components of the application that
  680. 29:15ask about your household and financial
  681. 29:18circumstances are also um important to
  682. 29:20your application. when we're considering
  683. 29:22applicants.
  684. 29:25>> Um, do I have to fill out a separate
  685. 29:27application like for AUB as a early
  686. 29:31merit or regular admission?
  687. 29:34Uh, you do not. So, when you apply for
  688. 29:36the Tomorrow's Leaders program, that is
  689. 29:39your application for all three of the
  690. 29:41partner universities. You do not have to
  691. 29:44fill out any additional applications
  692. 29:47um to any of the other schools.
  693. 29:51Uh what about the SAT? We have several
  694. 29:53questions about the SAT. Could you just
  695. 29:56comment on that one more time, Molly?
  696. 29:58>> Yeah, sure. So, for the SAT, um it's
  697. 30:02similar to kind of the TOEFL process
  698. 30:04that we have where if you are
  699. 30:07shortlisted for the program, um it's
  700. 30:09likely that you'll be asked to take the
  701. 30:11SAT. If you've previously taken the SAT,
  702. 30:14you can apply um to the program with
  703. 30:17those scores. So, if you have an SAT
  704. 30:19score, go ahead and uh write that down
  705. 30:22on your application. But if you haven't
  706. 30:24taken the SAT, don't worry about it.
  707. 30:27Just submit your application without a
  708. 30:28score. And if you're shortlisted, um our
  709. 30:31team will help arrange for you to take
  710. 30:34the SAT and those fees will also be
  711. 30:36covered by the program for shortlisted
  712. 30:38candidates.
  713. 30:41Do I have to have a passport before
  714. 30:44November 25th?
  715. 30:46You do not um you can apply for the
  716. 30:49program without a passport. Um but you
  717. 30:52will need to be able to get a passport
  718. 30:55uh prior to the start of school if you
  719. 30:58um are selected for the program. Most of
  720. 31:00most of our students are traveling
  721. 31:02internationally to attend the program.
  722. 31:04So you need to be eligible and able to
  723. 31:07get a passport.
  724. 31:13Uh, my academic transcripts only show
  725. 31:16the year I started and finished my
  726. 31:18studies, not the exact month. Will that
  727. 31:21be an issue?
  728. 31:24Um, no. Months uh would not be required
  729. 31:27for us to take a look at your
  730. 31:29transcripts as long as we can clearly
  731. 31:31see which year is for which grade. Um,
  732. 31:34we can uh receive those transcripts and
  733. 31:38those are perfectly fine.
  734. 31:54So, there's a couple questions about um
  735. 31:57I'm combining them here about when a
  736. 32:00student graduated from high school um
  737. 32:03and how that affects if they can apply
  738. 32:06or not.
  739. 32:08>> Yeah. So for this year um we are looking
  740. 32:12for students who have grad who or who
  741. 32:14are current seniors and are graduating
  742. 32:17from high school in 2026
  743. 32:21or who have graduated this year um in
  744. 32:242025 earlier in the year. So let's say
  745. 32:28you graduated from high school in May
  746. 32:302025, you are eligible. And if you are a
  747. 32:34current senior graduating next year, you
  748. 32:36are also eligible. In addition, if you
  749. 32:39are from a certain uh number of
  750. 32:42countries, that would be
  751. 32:46uh let's see, Iraq, Libya, Syria, West
  752. 32:50Bank, and Gaza or Yemen, you are
  753. 32:52eligible to apply for the program if you
  754. 32:55graduated from high school in 2024 as
  755. 32:58well.
  756. 32:59And I just stuck that in the chat uh
  757. 33:02just in case anybody wants to double
  758. 33:05check. um
  759. 33:09the countries that that was included on.
  760. 33:13Um
  761. 33:24lots of questions on SAT, but I think we
  762. 33:26covered those.
  763. 33:33Uh for recommenders, do you need just
  764. 33:36their contact information or do you need
  765. 33:38the actual an actual recommendation
  766. 33:41letter?
  767. 33:43Yeah. So for recommenders, you will put
  768. 33:46their information into your application.
  769. 33:49So their name, their title, um and their
  770. 33:52email address. And then
  771. 33:56uh the system, our our application
  772. 33:59system will send your recommener an
  773. 34:02email with a form for them to fill out
  774. 34:05for your recommendation.
  775. 34:07Um you do not need to upload a
  776. 34:09recommendation letter to your
  777. 34:11application and you don't need to
  778. 34:13directly send us an email with a
  779. 34:15recommendation letter. If you just put
  780. 34:17your recommenders information into your
  781. 34:20application, they'll receive an email.
  782. 34:22They'll fill it out and then it will
  783. 34:24come back to us and be connected to your
  784. 34:26application.
  785. 34:29Um, if one of my transcripts is in
  786. 34:31Arabic, should I translate it or not?
  787. 34:34Because it asks me about the language of
  788. 34:36the transcript on the application.
  789. 34:40>> Yes. So, we ask for transcripts in the
  790. 34:43original language and in English. So, if
  791. 34:46your transcript is in Arabic, as I'm
  792. 34:48sure many people will have them, uh
  793. 34:51please submit your transcript to us in
  794. 34:54Arabic and a translated copy in English.
  795. 34:57Um you are perfectly um it's perfectly
  796. 35:00acceptable for you to translate the
  797. 35:03transcript yourself. So, um please do go
  798. 35:06ahead and provide a translated copy as
  799. 35:08well in English.
  800. 35:11Okay. Um, does the program cover minors
  801. 35:15or just the major?
  802. 35:19>> Um, that is a great question. I think
  803. 35:21that's something that you would want to
  804. 35:23talk to the partner university about
  805. 35:25once you arrive on campus if you're
  806. 35:27selected for the program.
  807. 35:30>> Yeah, those decisions are made on
  808. 35:32individual basises based on the program
  809. 35:35and which school you go to. You would be
  810. 35:37accepted in.
  811. 35:41Um,
  812. 35:43can Lebanese applicants study in the US
  813. 35:46for the first semester?
  814. 35:49For your first semester of the program?
  815. 35:52Um, no. It's really important when you
  816. 35:56start the program as a you know you're a
  817. 35:59freshman your first semester you want to
  818. 36:01be on campus getting to know the school
  819. 36:04you know with your cohort of other
  820. 36:07tomorrow's leaders students and you know
  821. 36:10meeting your advisor your professors and
  822. 36:13getting acquainted with your new um your
  823. 36:15new home and your new community. So the
  824. 36:18the study abroad opportunity to come to
  825. 36:21the United States is um typically for
  826. 36:24one semester in your third year of your
  827. 36:27of your studies.
  828. 36:30Okay.
  829. 36:34[Music]
  830. 36:45Are certificates for my extracurriculars
  831. 36:48required? Because some activities don't
  832. 36:51provide them.
  833. 36:53>> Sure. um they're not required, but if
  834. 36:56you have certificates, I think that's a
  835. 36:57fantastic thing to include in your
  836. 36:59application so that we can see, you
  837. 37:02know, extra um documentation and um more
  838. 37:06information about your accomplishments
  839. 37:08and your your involvement. But if you if
  840. 37:11you did an activity that didn't have a
  841. 37:13certificate, um you should still tell us
  842. 37:15about that activity if you want it to be
  843. 37:17part of your application. Um just
  844. 37:20explain to us what you were doing if you
  845. 37:22don't have a certificate. That's That's
  846. 37:24okay.
  847. 37:29[Music]
  848. 37:44Uh, this one we get a lot. Is
  849. 37:46engineering covered by the program?
  850. 37:49Unfortunately, it is not. You can see a
  851. 37:52list of all of our programs for every
  852. 37:55partner university um on the website. I
  853. 37:58think uh Tina showed us a little bit ago
  854. 38:01how to see that list. It's all on the
  855. 38:04website. And I just put the link
  856. 38:06directly for the programs of study uh
  857. 38:09also in the chat. So if you want to
  858. 38:12double check a program, I I saw quite a
  859. 38:14few people asking about medicine as
  860. 38:16well. uh that is not a program that's
  861. 38:19covered, but I encourage you to click on
  862. 38:21the link for what can I study
  863. 38:24um and take a look at what is offered
  864. 38:27because there are some really exciting
  865. 38:28programs that are offered
  866. 38:32um
  867. 38:46I I think a lot of these we have
  868. 38:48covered.
  869. 38:51Um,
  870. 39:02can I attach the photo of event instead
  871. 39:05of the certificate? And I think that's
  872. 39:08referring to um the extracurriculars.
  873. 39:13If you wish to show us a photo of you
  874. 39:15doing an extracurricular activity, you
  875. 39:17can definitely attach that to your
  876. 39:19application.
  877. 39:21>> Um,
  878. 39:24what is the appropriate video length for
  879. 39:26the personal statement?
  880. 39:28Yeah, great question. So, we're looking
  881. 39:30for um five to six minutes for the
  882. 39:33personal statement video. Um, it's an
  883. 39:36option between 500word essay or 5 to six
  884. 39:40minute video. And if you're considering
  885. 39:42doing the video option, we really highly
  886. 39:44encourage you to do so. We love seeing
  887. 39:47the videos. We love seeing the
  888. 39:48creativity from applicants and, you
  889. 39:51know, getting to see your face and
  890. 39:52listen to your story. Um, it's it's
  891. 39:55great. So, please do submit a video if
  892. 39:58you're considering that option.
  893. 40:00Uh, but also please also be mindful of
  894. 40:02the five minute mark. Uh, while we love
  895. 40:05your creativity, a 10-minute video, you
  896. 40:09don't have to work that hard. Keep it to
  897. 40:11the five minute uh limit.
  898. 40:14Um, Molly, how do I know if I get
  899. 40:16accepted or not?
  900. 40:18So, we communicate with all applicants
  901. 40:20via email. The email that you use on
  902. 40:23your application is how we will
  903. 40:26communicate with you throughout the
  904. 40:27process. So, please make sure that
  905. 40:29you're using an email address that you
  906. 40:31check regularly that um you know you
  907. 40:33have access to and where we'll be able
  908. 40:35to reach you because that's how we uh
  909. 40:39notify you of your status in the
  910. 40:40application.
  911. 40:42And what kind of financial information
  912. 40:45is requested?
  913. 40:48>> Yep. So, in the household information
  914. 40:50section of the application, we ask you
  915. 40:52for a variety of different things. We
  916. 40:54ask um about your parents. Well, we ask
  917. 40:58about the income of your household. So,
  918. 41:00that could be your parents or it could
  919. 41:02be um other adults who are the male and
  920. 41:05female head of household in your family.
  921. 41:08So, we're looking for
  922. 41:11um their income, their uh if they're
  923. 41:14working, information about their job.
  924. 41:17Um, and we also have some questions
  925. 41:20regarding
  926. 41:22um, your family's financial situation
  927. 41:26um, throughout the application that we
  928. 41:28ask you to please fill out thoroughly
  929. 41:30and honestly so that we can get a
  930. 41:32complete picture of your family's
  931. 41:34financial situation.
  932. 41:37Good. Um,
  933. 41:43oh, does the video have to be in English
  934. 41:46or just Arabic?

  936. 41:51reviewers are um reading your
  937. 41:53applications and expecting everything to
  938. 41:55be in English for the application. um
  939. 41:58the the program and the universities uh
  940. 42:01work in English. So, it's really
  941. 42:03important for you to be able to
  942. 42:04demonstrate that you speak English um in
  943. 42:07order to advance um your application.
  944. 42:11>> And I would just add to that um all of
  945. 42:14your responses to the application should
  946. 42:16all be in English. Uh the only there's
  947. 42:18two exceptions. Your transcripts can
  948. 42:20come in in whatever language they're in.
  949. 42:23Um, and your recommenders can fill out
  950. 42:27the recommendation form uh in Arabic.
  951. 42:31Um, but this is an English language
  952. 42:34scholarship. Um, so everything else
  953. 42:38should be filled out in English.
  954. 42:42Um,
  955. 43:00so I think we have covered just about
  956. 43:04every question that is in the chat. uh
