  2. 0:09folks actually all things.com we're talk
  3. 0:11about toomire Universal Matrix Systems
  4. 0:14um for aalum placement and the reason
  5. 0:17why I'm talking about this is that
  6. 0:18somebody a number of viewers actually
  7. 0:20asked me just for some tips and hints on
  8. 0:22complex amalgam placement now
  9. 0:26amalgam is controversial and slowly it's
  10. 0:30going away but some of the the key
  11. 0:33factors in amalgam placement uh
  12. 0:35especially the matrices can be used for
  13. 0:40composits so a few neat things about the
  14. 0:42tpam mo Matrix um I mean there are
  15. 0:45definitely many probably thousands of
  16. 0:46different brands out there this is the
  17. 0:48Omni Matrix there is the uh Auto Matrix
  18. 0:52have another one
  19. 0:54here there's a payload Dent but that's
  20. 0:57difficult for a complex this is the ha
  21. 1:00super
  22. 1:01matte just another essentially a
  23. 1:04stainless
  24. 1:05steel stainless steel matricies with
  25. 1:08some sort of um a holder and a
  26. 1:12tightening system so just about the toam
  27. 1:15M Matrix uh there and
  28. 1:18really kind of just learned about it
  29. 1:21myself actually this past week and just
  30. 1:23sort of reviewing and asking for some
  31. 1:25other hints now there are wide different
  32. 1:27variations on the same theme
  33. 1:30you've got typically two different types
  34. 1:32I'll take that little guy out for now
  35. 1:34and you can see that I don't know if you
  36. 1:35can see the difference here this one uh
  37. 1:37according to the textbooks they call it
  38. 1:39a contra angle and you can see it's
  39. 1:42there a little more of an angle relative
  40. 1:44to the uh to the threads on the screw
  41. 1:48here uh compared to this one which is
  42. 1:50almost 90° now the reason why this is
  43. 1:53like this is because it can be used
  44. 1:56lingually now often I remember learning
  45. 1:58that in dental school thinking I don't
  46. 2:00understand why it has I just know that
  47. 2:02this is for the lingual version no one
  48. 2:04told me why well here's why as I just
  49. 2:06figured out from cutting the video when
  50. 2:08you place it on the lingal portion of
  51. 2:12even the pallet or the mandible this has
  52. 2:15to be able to be
  53. 2:17angled in an effort to well jump the
  54. 2:20teeth if you may so it can be used on
  55. 2:22the Ling excuse me on the Buckle but the
  56. 2:25it's I've tried and it's fairly
  57. 2:27difficult
  58. 2:28to use the straight one on the lingual
  59. 2:33portion of the of your preparation say
  60. 2:36for example you're trying to
  61. 2:38replace uh all these your buckle cusps
  62. 2:41and your lingle cusps are still intact a
  63. 2:43little more difficult to place it on the
  64. 2:45Buckle so hence the reason for what they
  65. 2:48call the Contra Angle now another thing
  66. 2:51now I don't know if you've aware but
  67. 2:54this became aware you can make noise man
  68. 2:57come on in but I appreciate it is that
  69. 3:00this
  70. 3:02because there are a number of different
  71. 3:04bands available we've
  72. 3:06got classically the uh number one band
  73. 3:09and the number two band or the mod band
  74. 3:12then there's these pedal bands so often
  75. 3:15well not often say occasionally I'd be
  76. 3:16handed toam Mar Matrix the band would be
  77. 3:20in it already and then i' go to tighten
  78. 3:22it and it never seemed to tighten
  79. 3:24properly I finally figured out why
  80. 3:26they're two different
  81. 3:28types got pedal version and you've got
  82. 3:31the regular version and the pedal
  83. 3:32version just seems to be just short
  84. 3:35enough to be become frustrating when
  85. 3:38trying to tighten your Matrix so let's
  86. 3:42see okay so here we have the uh the
  87. 3:44different matrices loaded up actually
  88. 3:46these are just the number two matric in
  89. 3:48the pedo tar and in the regular tar and
  90. 3:53let's take a look at the pedo so
  91. 3:57often or I should say occasionally I'd
  92. 4:00received one of these and one of these
  93. 4:01toam Myers a pedo pedo toam you can see
  94. 4:04that there's just just a little bit of
  95. 4:07band that's not covered by the uh the
  96. 4:09holder now that would seem insignificant
  97. 4:12but I'll tell you when you're trying to
  98. 4:14crank this down tighten it up around a
  99. 4:16tooth uh intraorally and it starts to
  100. 4:19slip and it seems to always want to slip
  101. 4:21that way it becomes extremely
  102. 4:23frustrating as compared to um the
  103. 4:26appropriate tfam that is flush and again
  104. 4:30this cannot be placed it's really
  105. 4:32difficult to place this
  106. 4:35lingually but if you do have the Contra
  107. 4:40angle it makes it much
  108. 4:44easier so just a few tips about
  109. 4:47tars different types lingual straight
  110. 4:51Contra angle and straight and the
  111. 4:54pedo cheers
