  1. 0:00Did you know what caused the death of
  2. 0:02the author of Yu-Gi-Oh!,one of the most
  3. 0:03famous anime series of the early 2000s?
  4. 0:06And if not, you should know, because it
  5. 0:08is very rare for a writer to give their
  6. 0:09life showing more heroism than the
  7. 0:11characters they write. Today is day 100
  8. 0:13of 100 Days 100 Anime Facts, and I
  9. 0:15dedicate this last episode as a tribute
  10. 0:17to Yu-Gi-Oh! mangaka Kazuki Takahashi.
  11. 0:19A millionaire mangaka of a famous
  12. 0:21series who had achieved everything in
  13. 0:23his life that he wanted. On July 4th,
  14. 0:252022, his body was found on the coast
  15. 0:27of Okinawa. For several months, the
  16. 0:29international media reported it as just
  17. 0:31a simple case of drowning. But months
  18. 0:33later, the US Department of Defense
  19. 0:34revealed that Takahashi-sensei had
  20. 0:36actually jumped into a very dangerous
  21. 0:38riptide. The reason for this was that
  22. 0:41he saw an 11-year-old girl and her
  23. 0:42mother, whom he didn't even know,
  24. 0:44trapped in that riptide. And without a
  25. 0:46second thought or care for his own life
  26. 0:48, Takahashi-sensei felt it was more
  27. 0:49important to save them. But the thing
  28. 0:52is, he could have been selfish here
  29. 0:53because someone was already saving them
  30. 0:55. US Army Major Robert Bourgeau and his
  31. 0:57subordinates had already jumped into
  32. 0:59the water to save them both. So he
  33. 1:01could have been selfish thinking that,
  34. 1:03okay, someone is already rescuing them.
  35. 1:05But without caring about that, and just
  36. 1:06with the thought that he had to save
  37. 1:08that girl and her mother. Just thinking
  38. 1:10that perhaps he could be of a little
  39. 1:11more help. He jumped into the water.
  40. 1:13The mother was saved. The girl was
  41. 1:15saved, and so were all the soldiers.
  42. 1:17But Takahashi was the only one who
  43. 1:18could not get out of that riptide. So,
  44. 1:20Takahashi-sensei jumping into the water
  45. 1:22to help two strangers, without thinking
  46. 1:25about his entire empire, was a true act
  47. 1:27of heroism. So this was it for this
  48. 1:29series, and I hope you guys enjoyed
  49. 1:31every single episode. And don't worry,
  50. 1:33because after this, I am planning a new
  51. 1:34and even better series. So this arc is
  52. 1:36over, but this journey is still very
  53. 1:38long. So if you have been watching the
  54. 1:40series until now but never followed,
  55. 1:42then I request you to please follow.
  56. 1:43Otherwise, I hope to see you guys in
  57. 1:45the next series.
