  27. 2:39two while conducting his business a
  28. 2:42powerful Rogue Wave hit the ship and
  29. 2:45within seconds it
  30. 2:53capsized no one had time to react
  31. 2:56Harrison was hit on the Ed by the WC as
  32. 2:58the boat flipped upside down
  33. 3:00Water started rushing in from every
  34. 3:02direction in those frantic moments it
  35. 3:04was
  36. 3:07chaos dazed from being knocked out by
  37. 3:09the WC Harrison managed to crawl out of
  38. 3:11the bathroom only to find the Sheep
  39. 3:13already filling with water the crew
  40. 3:15didn't stand a chance 12 men on board 11
  41. 3:18never made it out alive but for Harrison
  42. 3:21fate had other plans
  43. 3:35[Music]
  44. 3:41he stumbled into an air pocket in the
  45. 3:43engineer's room a tiny space in the wre
  46. 3:46cage where water hadn't fully flooded
  47. 3:48but now he was
  48. 3:50trapped the boat had sunk to the ocean
  49. 3:52floor and Harrison Oken was about to
  50. 3:55spend the next 60 hours completely
  51. 3:58alone alone in the Peach black belly of
  52. 4:00the ship Harrison faced a terrifying
  53. 4:02reality his air pocket was running out
  54. 4:06the walls of the sunken ship pressed in
  55. 4:07from all sides and the icy water clawed
  56. 4:10at his
  57. 4:11skin he began to
  58. 4:14pray for 3 Days Harrison prayed he held
  59. 4:18on to a flicker of Hope praying for a
  60. 4:20rescue no one thought
  61. 4:22possible imagine that for a second you
  62. 4:24at the bottom of the ocean in complete
  63. 4:26darkness surrounded by wreckage you know
  64. 4:29no one's coming the water is freezing
  65. 4:31slowly sucking the warmth out of your
  66. 4:33body you can hear the ship creaking
  67. 4:35shifting at any point the entire
  68. 4:37structure could collapse that was
  69. 4:39Harrison's reality and it got worse when
  70. 4:42you realize he didn't have much time
  71. 4:44left each breath consumed a little
  72. 4:46oxygen remaining filling the air pockets
  73. 4:48with CO2 there was no food the smell of
  74. 4:51dies made it harder to breathe and the
  75. 4:54cold sied deeper into his
  76. 4:56bones for over 2 days Harrison stayed in
  77. 4:59the small air pocket he found his only
  78. 5:01source of light was his phone but
  79. 5:03eventually even that battery died in
  80. 5:06total darkness he started to hear what
  81. 5:08sounded like sharks feeding he was
  82. 5:10terrified he knew he was going to die
  83. 5:13but he didn't know when or
  84. 5:16how he started praying again holding on
  85. 5:19to the hope that maybe just maybe
  86. 5:21someone will find him and I was there
  87. 5:23trying to like an WC fell on my head and
  88. 5:25tear my head and I was there struggling
  89. 5:27on how I can be able to open the door
  90. 5:29when I was right there in the water when
  91. 5:31I have access to nothing right down
  92. 5:34inside the water I thought of my family
  93. 5:37thought of my my mom my brothers my wife
  94. 5:41I have access to none of them no way to
  95. 5:43get to them and I was right in the water
  96. 5:45and I know I'm going to die but the only
  97. 5:48thing I could put my hope and trust in
  98. 5:50and my confident in is God I don't know
  99. 5:53he's up to 3 days because I was thinking
  100. 5:54just a it's get to the evening I was
  101. 5:57there keep on praying praying praying
  102. 5:58praying praying when I pray prayed for
  103. 5:59some time I stopped and I said God let
  104. 6:01that way be done as it is in heaven
  105. 6:03because I have tried my best and I have
  106. 6:06called on you and you have never FedEd
  107. 6:07me before and you will never fed me I to
  108. 6:10in my life as I said that to me if death
  109. 6:14comes lady
  110. 6:24hes on the surface a team of South
  111. 6:26African divers had arrived their mission
  112. 6:28was grim they were to recover the bodies
  113. 6:31of the crewmen trapped
  114. 6:32below as they prepared to descend into
  115. 6:35the cold Dark Water no one believed they
  116. 6:37were
  117. 6:39survivors the wreck had been underwater
  118. 6:41for over 60 hours and no one had ever
  119. 6:43survived that long at such deaths but
  120. 6:46what they didn't know was that Harrison
  121. 6:48was still down there clinging to life
  122. 6:50and his
  123. 6:51faith there were also concerns for the
  124. 6:53divers because when they go into a wreck
  125. 6:55is dangerous the structure can collapse
  126. 6:58the water is pitch blast and they have
  127. 7:00no idea what's inside the deeper they go
  128. 7:02the more they feel the pressure
  129. 7:04literally and
  130. 7:06mentally at this time they're ready and
  131. 7:09they go in
  132. 7:30[Music]
  133. 7:38soon they found the sunken ship and
  134. 7:40began exploring the wreckage they had to
  135. 7:42be very careful navigating through the
  136. 7:44tight Twisted corridors of the jkan for
  137. 7:47because the wreck was unstable and
  138. 7:48visibility was close to
  139. 7:50zero Harrison's Survivor depended on the
  140. 7:53fragile air pocket that kept him alive
  141. 7:56but even that was a taking time bur with
  142. 7:58carbon dioxide building up in the tiny
  143. 8:00space each breath became more labored
  144. 8:02and painful his body craved oxygen but
  145. 8:05the air was slowly turning toxic and yet
  146. 8:07living the safety of his air pocket to
  147. 8:09try and Escape into the pitch black
  148. 8:10water would mean certain
  149. 8:12death suddenly Harrison heard a noise
  150. 8:15unsure what to make of it he dove into
  151. 8:18the water then it happened in the murky
  152. 8:21Darkness one of the divers saw something
  153. 8:23they couldn't believe a hand reaching
  154. 8:25out from the wreckage for a moment the
  155. 8:27diver thought it was just another body a
  156. 8:29lifeless arm hanging in the water but
  157. 8:32then the hand grabbed back all right so
  158. 8:35you should be walking on the on the on
  159. 8:37the ceiling yeah okay this what's that
  160. 8:41okay [ __ ] that's horrible all right you

  167. 8:59there and keep him calm okay M all right
  168. 9:02just um just reassure him patch him on
  169. 9:04the

  174. 9:21just r
  175. 9:24on Harris okin had survived 3 days
  176. 9:27trapped 100 ft below the surface in a
  177. 9:28cold dark air pocket his body was weak
  178. 9:32his oxygen running low but even now he
  179. 9:34wasn't out of danger here's why after
  180. 9:37spending so much time in the depth
  181. 9:39bringing him up too quickly could be
  182. 9:42deadly the divers had to deal with a
  183. 9:44major risk the bends rapid
  184. 9:47decompressions could cause nitrogen
  185. 9:49bubbles to form in his bloodstream
  186. 9:51boiling it from the inside which could
  187. 9:53lead to extreme pain paralysis or even
  188. 9:55death to prevent this they carefully
  189. 9:58brought him into a DE depression chamber
  190. 10:00making sure his body could adjust to the
  191. 10:02pressure it was a slow methodical
  192. 10:04process every minute counted but after
  193. 10:07nearly 3 days in complete isolation
  194. 10:09Harrison was finally
  195. 10:11free when Harrison came out his world
  196. 10:14had changed he'd survived something
  197. 10:17almost impossible something no one
  198. 10:19believed could happen the story of the
  199. 10:21man who spent 3 days trapped under a
  200. 10:23sunken ship quickly spread around the
  201. 10:25world capturing hearts and imaginations
  202. 10:28but the trauma of what he experienced
  203. 10:31that's something he carries with him
  204. 10:32long after I still have nightmares I
  205. 10:35remember the darkness the cold Harrison
  206. 10:38says after an ordeal like this most
  207. 10:40people would never return to the water
  208. 10:43but now Harrison he trained as a diver
  209. 10:45with the company that rescued him and
