- 0:00This isn't my usual type of content, but
- 0:02every once in a while I come across
- 0:04something so simple and so powerful that
- 0:07I feel it's worth sharing.
- 0:10Today, I want to share a short classic
- 0:12called [music] It Works. It's a very
- 0:15brief book. You can listen to or read
- 0:17the entire thing in less than 20 [music]
- 0:19minutes. Yet, despite its length, its
- 0:22message has inspired countless people
- 0:24[music] for decades.
- 0:27Whether you believe in the law of
- 0:28attraction, the power of focused
- 0:30intention, or simply the importance of
- 0:33having clear goals, I think you'll find
- 0:35something valuable here.
- 0:38Most importantly, the book doesn't
- 0:39[music] just present an idea. It ends
- 0:42with a practical exercise that you can
- 0:44immediately apply in your own life.
- 0:47It's simple, takes very little time, and
- 0:51many people have found it surprisingly
- 0:53effective when practiced consistently.
- 0:55[music]
- 0:56So, with an open mind, let's go through
- 0:59this timeless little book together.
- 1:02I hope it inspires you as much as it has
- 1:04inspired me and so many others.
- 1:08Have a listen.
- 1:10It works by R. H. J.
- 1:14The famous little red book that makes
- 1:16your dreams come true. [music]
- 1:18A clear, definite, common sense plan of
- 1:20accomplishment. Originally published in
- 1:231926.
- 1:25All who joy would win must share it.
- 1:28>> [music]
- 1:28>> Happiness was born a twin.
- 1:31Byron.
- 1:32The author sent the manuscript of this
- 1:34book for criticism to a friend [music]
- 1:36who returned it with the notation, It
- 1:38works.
- 1:40This judgment born of experience was
- 1:42adopted as the title of the book.
- 1:45A concise, definite, resultful plan with
- 1:47rules, explanations, and suggestions for
- 1:50bettering your condition in life.
- 1:53If you know what you want, you can have
- 1:55it.
- 1:57The man who wrote this book is highly
- 1:59successful
- 1:59>> [music]
- 2:00>> and widely known for his generosity and
- 2:02helpful spirit. He gives full credit for
- 2:05all that he has accomplished in [music]
- 2:07mastering circumstances, accumulating
- 2:09wealth, and winning friends to the
- 2:11silent working out of the simple,
- 2:14powerful truth which he tells of in his
- 2:16work.
- 2:18He shows you here an easy, open road to
- 2:20a larger, happier life.
- 2:24Knowing that the greatest good comes
- 2:26from helping others without expecting
- 2:28praise, [music]
- 2:29the author of this work has requested
- 2:31that his name be omitted.
- 2:33What is the real secret of obtaining
- 2:36desirable possessions? Are some people
- 2:38born under a lucky star or other charm
- 2:41which enables them to have all that
- 2:43which seems so desirable?
- 2:45And if not, what is the cause of the
- 2:48difference in conditions under which men
- 2:50live?
- 2:52Many years ago, feeling that there must
- 2:54be a logical answer to this question, I
- 2:56decided to find out, if possible, what
- 2:59it was.
- 3:00I found the answer to my own
- 3:02satisfaction, and for years have given
- 3:05the information to others who have used
- 3:07it successfully. [music]
- 3:09From a scientific, psychological, or
- 3:11theological viewpoint, some of the
- 3:13following statements may be interpreted
- 3:15as incorrect, but nevertheless, the plan
- 3:18has brought the results desired [music]
- 3:20to those who have followed the simple
- 3:21instructions, and it is my sincere
- 3:24belief that I am now presenting it in a
- 3:26way which will bring happiness and
- 3:28possessions [music]
- 3:29to many more.
- 3:32"If wishes were horses, beggars would
- 3:34ride" is the attitude taken by the
- 3:37average man and woman in regard to
- 3:39possessions. [music]
- 3:41They're not aware of a power so near
- 3:43that it is overlooked, so simple in
- 3:45operation that it is difficult to
- 3:47conceive, and so sure in results that it
- 3:50is not made use of consciously or
- 3:53recognized as the cause of failure or
- 3:55success. [music]
- 3:57"Gee, I wish that were mine." is the
- 3:59outburst of Jimmy, [music]
- 4:01the office boy, as a new red roadster
- 4:03goes by.
- 4:05And Florence, the telephone operator,
- 4:07expresses the same thought regarding a
- 4:09ring in the jeweler's window.
- 4:11While poor old Jones, the bookkeeper,
- 4:14[music]
- 4:14during the Sunday stroll, replies to his
- 4:17wife,
- 4:18"Yes, dear, it would be nice to have a
- 4:20home like that,
- 4:22but it is out of the question.
- 4:25We will have to continue to rent."
- 4:28Landem, [music]
- 4:29the salesman, protests that he does all
- 4:31the work, gets the short end of the
- 4:34money, and will someday quit his job and
- 4:36find a real one.
- 4:38And President Bondem, in his private
- 4:40sanctorum, voices a bitter tirade
- 4:43against the annual attack of hay fever.
- 4:47At home, it is much the same.
- 4:49>> [music]
- 4:49>> Last evening, father declared that
- 4:51daughter Mabel was headed straight for
- 4:53disaster. And today, mother's allowance
- 4:56problem and other trying affairs fade
- 4:59into insignificance as she exclaims,
- 5:02"This is the last straw.
- 5:04Robert's school teacher wants to see me
- 5:06this [music] afternoon. His reports are
- 5:08terrible, I know, but I'm late for
- 5:10bridge now. She'll have to wait until
- 5:13tomorrow."
- 5:15So goes the endless stream of
- 5:16expressions like these from millions of
- 5:19people in all classes who give no
- 5:21thought to what they really want and who
- 5:24are getting all they are entitled to
- 5:26[music] or expect.
- 5:29If you're one of these millions of
- 5:30thoughtless talkers or wishers and would
- 5:33like a decided change from your present
- 5:35condition,
- 5:36you can have it.
- 5:38But first of all,
- 5:39you must know what you [music] want. And
- 5:41this is no easy task.
- 5:44When you can train your objective mind,
- 5:46the mind you use every day
- 5:49>> [music]
- 5:49>> to decide definitely upon the things or
- 5:51conditions you desire,
- 5:53you will have taken your first big step
- 5:55[music] in accomplishing or securing
- 5:57what you know you want.
- 5:59To get what you want is no more
- 6:01mysterious or uncertain than the radio
- 6:04waves all around you.
- 6:06Tune in [music] correctly and you get a
- 6:08perfect result.
- 6:10But to do this, it is, [music] of
- 6:11course, necessary to know something of
- 6:14your equipment and have a plan of
- 6:16operations.
- 6:17You have within you a mighty power
- 6:20anxious [music] and willing to serve
- 6:22you.
- 6:23A power capable of giving you that which
- 6:26you [music] earnestly desire.
- 6:29This power is described by Thomson J.
- 6:31Hudson, PhD, LLD, author of The Law of
- 6:36Psychic Phenomena, as your subjective
- 6:38mind.
- 6:39Other learned writers use different
- 6:41names and terms, [music]
- 6:42but all agree that it is omnipotent.
- 6:45Therefore, I call this power Immanuel,
- 6:49God in us.
- 6:51Regardless of the name of the great
- 6:53power or the conscious admission of a
- 6:55God, the power is capable and [music]
- 6:58willing to carry to a complete and
- 7:00perfect conclusion every earnest desire
- 7:03of your objective mind.
- 7:05>> [music]
- 7:05>> But you must be really in earnest about
- 7:07what you want.
- 7:09Occasional wishing or half-hearted
- 7:11wanting does not form a perfect
- 7:14connection or communication
- 7:16>> [music]
- 7:16>> with your omnipotent power.
- 7:21You must be in earnest, sincerely
- 7:23[music] and truthfully desiring certain
- 7:26conditions or things, mental, physical,
- 7:29or spiritual. [music]
- 7:31Your objective mind and will are so
- 7:33vacillating that you usually only wish
- 7:36for things and the wonderful, capable
- 7:38power [music] within you does not
- 7:41function.
- 7:42Most wishes are simply vocal
- 7:44expressions. [music]
- 7:45Jimmy, the office boy, gave no thought
- 7:47of possessing the red roadster.
- 7:49>> [music]
- 7:50>> Landem, the salesman, was not thinking
- 7:52of any other job or even thinking at
- 7:54all.
- 7:55President Bondem knew he had hay fever
- 7:58and was expecting it.
- 7:59Father's business was quite likely
- 8:01successful and mother no doubt brought
- 8:03home first prize from the bridge party
- 8:06that day,
- 8:07but they had no fixed idea of what they
- 8:09really wanted their children to
- 8:10accomplish and were actually helping to
- 8:12bring about the unhappy conditions which
- 8:15[music] existed.
- 8:17If you are in earnest about changing
- 8:19your present condition,
- 8:20here is a concise, definite, resultful
- 8:23plan with rules, explanations, and
- 8:27[music] suggestions.
- 8:30The plan.
- 8:31Write down on paper in order of their
- 8:33importance the things and conditions you
- 8:35really want.
- 8:36>> [music]
- 8:37>> Do not be afraid of wanting too much.
- 8:40Go the limit in writing down your wants.
- 8:42Change the [music] list daily, adding to
- 8:45or taking from it until you have it
- 8:47about right.
- 8:49Do not be discouraged on account of
- 8:51changes, as this is natural.
- 8:54There will always be changes and
- 8:56additions with accomplishments [music]
- 8:58and increasing desires.
- 9:00Three positive rules of accomplishment.
- 9:03One.
- 9:04Read the [music] list of what you want
- 9:06three times each day.
- 9:08Morning, noon, and night.
- 9:12Two.
- 9:13Think of what you want as often as
- 9:15possible.
- 9:16Three.
- 9:18Do not talk to anyone about your plan
- 9:20except to the great power within you,
- 9:22which will unfold to your objective mind
- 9:24the method of accomplishment.
- 9:27It is obvious that you cannot acquire
- 9:29faith at the start.
- 9:30>> [music]
- 9:30>> Some of your desires, from all practical
- 9:33reasoning, may seem positively
- 9:35unattainable,
- 9:36but nevertheless, write them down in
- 9:39your list in their proper [music] place
- 9:41of importance to you.
- 9:43There is no need to analyze how this
- 9:46power within you is going to accomplish
- 9:48your desires.
- 9:50Such a procedure is as unnecessary
- 9:52[music] as trying to figure out why a
- 9:54grain of corn, placed in fertile soil,
- 9:57shoots up a green stalk, blossoms, and
- 10:00produces an ear of corn containing
- 10:02hundreds of grains, each capable of
- 10:04doing what the one [music] grain did.
- 10:07If you will follow this definite plan
- 10:09and carry out the three simple [music]
- 10:11rules, the method of accomplishment will
- 10:13unfold quite as mysteriously as the ear
- 10:16of corn appears on the stalk, and in
- 10:19most cases much sooner than you expect.
- 10:22When new desires, deserving position at
- 10:24or about the top of your list, come to
- 10:26you, [music]
- 10:27then you may rest assured you are
- 10:29progressing correctly.
- 10:31Removing from your list items which at
- 10:33first you thought [music] you wanted is
- 10:35another sure indication of progress.
- 10:38It is natural to be skeptical and have
- 10:40doubts, [music] distrust, and
- 10:41questionings. But, when these thoughts
- 10:43arise, get out your list.
- 10:46Read it over.
- 10:47Or, if you have it memorized, [music]
- 10:50talk to your inner self about your
- 10:51desires until the doubts that interfere
- 10:54with your progress [music] are gone.
- 10:57Remember, nothing can prevent your
- 10:59having that which you earnestly desire.
- 11:03Others have these things.
- 11:05Why not you?
- 11:07The omnipotent power within you does not
- 11:09enter into any controversial argument.
- 11:12It is waiting and willing to serve when
- 11:14you are ready. But, your objective mind
- 11:16is so susceptible [music] to suggestion
- 11:19that it's almost impossible to make any
- 11:21satisfactory progress when surrounded by
- 11:23skeptics. Therefore,
- 11:25choose your friends [music] carefully
- 11:27and associate with people who now have
- 11:29some of the things you really [music]
- 11:31want. But, do not discuss your method of
- 11:33accomplishment with them.
- 11:36Put down in your list of wants such
- 11:38material things as money, home,
- 11:40automobile, or whatever it may be.
- 11:43Do not stop there.
- 11:45Be more definite.
- 11:47If you want an automobile, decide what
- 11:50kind, style, [music]
- 11:51price, color, and all other details,
- 11:54including when you want it. If you want
- 11:57a home, plan the structure, [music]
- 11:59grounds, and furnishings. Decide on
- 12:01location and cost. If you want money,
- 12:05write down the amount. If you want to
- 12:07break a record in your business, put it
- 12:09down. It may be a sales record. If so,
- 12:12write out the total, the date required,
- 12:16then the number of items you must sell
- 12:18to make [music] it. Also, list your
- 12:19prospects and put after each name the
- 12:22sum [music] expected.
- 12:24This may seem very foolish at first, but
- 12:27you can never realize your desires if
- 12:29you do not know how positively and in
- 12:32detail what you want and when you want
- 12:35it.
- 12:35>> [music]
- 12:36>> If you cannot decide this,
- 12:38you are not in earnest.
- 12:40You must be definite. [music]
- 12:42And when you are, results will be
- 12:44surprising and almost unbelievable.
- 12:48A natural and ancient enemy will no
- 12:50doubt appear when you get your first
- 12:52taste of accomplishment.
- 12:54This enemy is discredit [music]
- 12:56in form of such thoughts as
- 12:58it can't be possible.
- 13:00It just happened to be.
- 13:02What a remarkable coincidence.
- 13:05When such thoughts occur, give thanks
- 13:08and assert credit to your omnipotent
- 13:10power for the accomplishment.
- 13:12By doing this, you gain assurance and
- 13:15more accomplishment, and in time,
- 13:17>> [music]
- 13:17>> prove to yourself that there is a law
- 13:20which actually works at all times when
- 13:22you are in tune with it.
- 13:24Sincere and earnest thanks cannot be
- 13:27given without gratitude, [music]
- 13:29and it is impossible to be thankful and
- 13:31grateful without being happy.
- 13:34Therefore, when you are thanking your
- 13:36greatest and [music] best friend, your
- 13:38omnipotent power, for the gifts
- 13:40received, do so with all your soul, and
- 13:44let it be reflected in your face.
- 13:47The power and what it does is beyond
- 13:50understanding.
- 13:52Do not try to understand it, but accept
- 13:55the accomplishment with thankfulness,
- 13:57happiness, and strengthened faith.
- 14:00Caution.
- 14:01It is possible to want and obtain that
- 14:04which will make you miserable.
- 14:06That which will wreck the happiness of
- 14:08others.
- 14:10That which will cause sickness and
- 14:12death.
- 14:13That which will rob you of eternal life.
- 14:17You can have what you want,
- 14:19but you must take all that goes with it.
- 14:22So, in planning your wants, plan that
- 14:24which you are sure will give to you and
- 14:27your fellow man the greatest [music]
- 14:29good here on Earth.
- 14:31Thus paving way to that future hope
- 14:34beyond the pale of human understanding.
- 14:39This method of securing what you want
- 14:41applies to everything you are capable of
- 14:43desiring, and the scope being so great,
- 14:46it is suggested that your first list
- 14:48consists only of those things
- 14:50>> [music]
- 14:50>> with which you are quite familiar,
- 14:52such as an amount of money or
- 14:54accomplishment or the possession of
- 14:56material things.
- 14:58Such desires as these are more easily
- 15:00and quickly obtained than the
- 15:02discontinuance of fixed [music] habits,
- 15:04the welfare of others, and the healing
- 15:07of mental or bodily ills.
- 15:10Accomplish [music] the lesser things
- 15:11first, then take the next step, and when
- 15:15that is accomplished, you will seek the
- 15:17higher and really important objectives
- 15:20in [music] life.
- 15:21But long before you reach the stage of
- 15:23your progress, many worthwhile [music]
- 15:25desires will find their place on your
- 15:28list.
- 15:30One will be to help others as you have
- 15:32been helped.
- 15:34Great is the reward to those who help
- 15:36and give without thought of self
- 15:39as it is impossible to be unselfish
- 15:41without gain.
- 15:43In conclusion, a short while ago Dr.
- 15:46Emile Coue came to this country and
- 15:48showed thousands of people how to help
- 15:50themselves. Thousands of others spoofed
- 15:52at the idea, refused his assistance, and
- 15:55are today where they were before his
- 15:58visit.
- 15:59So, with the statements and plan
- 16:00presented to you now, you can reject or
- 16:03[music] accept. You can remain as you
- 16:05are or have anything you want.
- 16:09The choice is yours, but God grant that
- 16:11you may find in this short volume the
- 16:13inspiration to choose a right. Follow
- 16:16the plan and thereby obtain, [music] as
- 16:19so many others have, all things,
- 16:21whatever they may be, that you desire.
- 16:25Read the entire book over again and
- 16:27again and then again.
- 16:30Memorize the three simple rules on
- 16:32[music] pages 13 and 14.
- 16:34Test them now on what you want
- 16:36>> [music]
- 16:36>> most this minute.
- 16:39This book could have extended easily
- 16:40over 350 pages,
- 16:42>> [music]
- 16:42>> but it has been deliberately shortened
- 16:44to make it as easy as possible for you
- 16:46to read, understand, [music] and use.
- 16:49Will you try it?
- 16:51Thousands of bettered lives will testify
- 16:53to the fact that
- 16:54>> [music]
- 16:54>> it works.
- 16:57A letter to you from the author.
- 17:00Dear reader,
- 17:01the great possessions of life are all
- 17:04gifts mysteriously bestowed.
- 17:06>> [music]
- 17:06>> Sight, hearing, aspiration, love, or
- 17:10life itself.
- 17:12The same is true of ideas. The richest
- 17:14of them are given to us as for instance
- 17:17>> [music]
- 17:17>> the powerful idea which this book has
- 17:19given you. What are you going to do with
- 17:22it?
- 17:22Are you surprised when I tell you the
- 17:24most profitable thing you can do
- 17:26>> [music]
- 17:26>> is give it away?
- 17:28You can do this in an easy and practical
- 17:31way by having this book sent [music] to
- 17:33those you know who need it.
- 17:37In this way, you can help in the
- 17:38distribution of this worthwhile effort
- 17:41>> [music]
- 17:41>> to make the lives of others better and
- 17:44happier.
- 17:46You know people who are standing still
- 17:48or who are worried and discouraged. This
- 17:51is your chance to help them help
- 17:53themselves. [music]
- 17:54If you withhold this book from them, you
- 17:56will lose the conscious satisfaction
- 17:58that comes from doing good.
- 18:01If you see that they get this book, then
- 18:03you put yourself in line with the law of
- 18:05life which says, you get by giving and
- 18:09you may rightly expect [music]
- 18:10prosperity and achievement.
- 18:13At the very least, you will have the
- 18:15inner sense of having done a good deed
- 18:17with no hope of being openly thanked and
- 18:20your reward will come secretly in added
- 18:23power and larger life.
- 18:26The author.
- 18:28And that brings us to the end of this
- 18:30book.
- 18:31Now, the most important part [music]
- 18:33begins.
- 18:34Putting these ideas into practice.
- 18:37Don't let this be something you listen
- 18:38to once and then forget.
- 18:41Come back to this video again and again.
- 18:44Repetition helps reinforce the message
- 18:47and the exercise at the end is designed
- 18:49to become part of your daily routine.
- 18:52Give yourself time, stay consistent, and
- 18:55pay attention to the changes that begin
- 18:57to unfold in your thinking, your
- 18:59actions, and the opportunities that come
- 19:01your way.
- 19:03Small, consistent efforts often lead to
- 19:05meaningful results. If you found this
- 19:08video valuable, I'd appreciate it if you
- 19:10gave it a like, subscribe to the
- 19:12channel, and shared it with someone who
- 19:14might benefit from hearing this message.
