  2. 0:03you how to finally think and speak in
  3. 0:06English I'm going to explain the
  4. 0:08connection give you a simple formula
  5. 0:11that will help you finally start
  6. 0:13speaking like a native English speaker
  7. 0:16are you ready well then I am teacher
  8. 0:19Tiffany let's Jump Right In All right so
  9. 0:23the first thing you have to understand
  10. 0:25is the five ws method that's right we
  11. 0:28must first start off by thinking in
  12. 0:31English using the five W's who what when
  13. 0:35where and why so let's say we're talking
  14. 0:37about our daily life and we're going to
  15. 0:40start with our morning routine look at
  16. 0:43this man he's working out hard but we
  17. 0:46want to describe what he's doing like a
  18. 0:48native English speaker so we must think
  19. 0:51in English who is he his name is Mike
  20. 0:55he's 50 years old what is Mike doing
  21. 0:58Mike is working working out hard when at
  22. 1:036 a.m. every morning where at a large
  23. 1:09gym not too far from his house and why
  24. 1:14he learned the importance of discipline
  25. 1:17from working on a farm and the
  26. 1:20importance of staying in shape from his
  27. 1:22military background so again what have
  28. 1:26we done we have thought in English we
  29. 1:29saw what was was happening this man was
  30. 1:31building muscles and he does it every
  31. 1:34morning this is his morning routine and
  32. 1:37we use the five W's so now how do we
  33. 1:40speak in English about his morning
  34. 1:44routine so once again we have the five
  35. 1:47W's here organized who what when where
  36. 1:50and why which will lead us to speaking
  37. 1:54about his morning routine watch this
  38. 1:57read along with me I am 50 years old but
  39. 2:01I still work out hard at 6: a.m. every
  40. 2:05morning I usually exercise at a large
  41. 2:08gym not too far from my house people
  42. 2:12always say my
  43. 2:14consistency is impressive honestly I
  44. 2:18learned the importance of discipline
  45. 2:21from working on a farm and the
  46. 2:24importance of staying in shape from my
  47. 2:26time in the military you see what just
  48. 2:29happened right using the five W's we
  49. 2:33thought about his morning routine and
  50. 2:35then we were able to speak think and
  51. 2:38then speak now I want to break down some
  52. 2:41of the words some of the vocabulary
  53. 2:43words within this speaking portion but I
  54. 2:46want to remind you to use the 5 W's to
  55. 2:50talk about your own morning routine now
  56. 2:52I see a word in here that maybe you
  57. 2:55don't know the first word is consistency
  58. 3:01good after me again
  59. 3:05consistency excellent now the word
  60. 3:07consistency just means the quality of
  61. 3:10always behaving or performing in a
  62. 3:14similar way or of always happening in a
  63. 3:18similar way so let me explain something
  64. 3:22to you really quickly about this word
  65. 3:26remember who I am your English teacher
  66. 3:29right right so every Sunday I make it a
  67. 3:32point to upload an English lesson
  68. 3:35Sundays at 8:00 a.m. eastern right so I
  69. 3:39want to do it on a regular basis my
  70. 3:43behavior my pattern is uploading English
  71. 3:47lessons for you on Sundays so I am
  72. 3:50trying to practice
  73. 3:53consistency makes sense right you got it
  74. 3:56now maybe you have a little bit of
  75. 3:57trouble with the pronunciation I want to
  76. 3:59remind you to download the English with
  77. 4:01Tiffany app within the app there are
  78. 4:03many lessons and courses but I have a
  79. 4:06specific course on pronunciation that
  80. 4:08will help you so you can download that
  81. 4:10course uh you can download the app all
  82. 4:13right so consistency now let's go back
  83. 4:16again and look at what was said the next
  84. 4:20word was
  85. 4:22impressive impressive so after me
  86. 4:27impressive excellent again
  87. 4:31impressive good job now this word
  88. 4:34impressive is also very important if an
  89. 4:37object or achievement is impressive you
  90. 4:42admire or respect it usually because it
  91. 4:45is special important or very large so
  92. 4:49for example me when I think about you as
  93. 4:53a student as an English learner learning
  94. 4:56a second language or a third language
  95. 4:58and for many of you a fourth language
  96. 5:01English is not your mother tongue I am
  97. 5:05impressed your abilities are impressive
  98. 5:08why you are learning another language
  99. 5:11you are so intelligent so that's an
  100. 5:14achievement you are very impressive
  101. 5:17makes sense right so again we said that
  102. 5:20Mike's morning routine is impressive all
  103. 5:24right now there's another one that I
  104. 5:25want us to look at very quickly the
  105. 5:28other one was
  106. 5:31discipline again
  107. 5:34discipline excellent all right now what
  108. 5:37does the word discipline actually mean
  109. 5:40it's the ability to control yourself or
  110. 5:44other people even in difficult
  111. 5:47situations
  112. 5:49so maybe your favorite dessert is ice
  113. 5:52cream W when you see the ice cream you
  114. 5:55want to eat it all but you're on a diet
  115. 5:59you're you're trying to lose weight so
  116. 6:01you have to be disciplined you have to
  117. 6:05control yourself from eating all of the
  118. 6:08ice cream makes sense right in English
  119. 6:11we say discipline are you a very
  120. 6:14disciplined person let us know in the
  121. 6:16comment section all right so we have
  122. 6:19discipline now once again looking at
  123. 6:22what was said to describe his morning
  124. 6:24routine we have all of the information
  125. 6:28and we're able to speak about his
  126. 6:29morning routine because we first thought
  127. 6:32about his morning routine using the five
  128. 6:35W's who what when where and why now
  129. 6:38before we move to the afternoon routine
  130. 6:40I want you in the comment section to
  131. 6:43write about your personal morning
  132. 6:46routine now remember again using the
  133. 6:50thought section thinking in English you
  134. 6:53must first again say who what when where
  135. 6:57and why so let us know about your
  136. 7:00morning routine in the comment section
  137. 7:03all right here we go let's move on to
  138. 7:05the afternoon routine again you're going
  139. 7:08to notice this pattern think speak think
  140. 7:12speak think using the five W's and then
  141. 7:15you'll be able to speak fluently in
  142. 7:18English here we go afternoon routine
  143. 7:21let's look at this afternoon routine
  144. 7:24maybe you're at work and you have to
  145. 7:26have lots of meetings with your
  146. 7:28co-workers so who my team members and I
  147. 7:33we are web designers what go to a team
  148. 7:37meeting in the afternoon when around
  149. 7:412:00 p.m. in the
  150. 7:43afternoon where in the big conference
  151. 7:46room down the hall from my office why to
  152. 7:51discuss how we will create all of the
  153. 7:55images layouts and videos for a new
  154. 7:58corporate website so once again what did
  155. 8:02we do we thought about the afternoon
  156. 8:05routine who what when where and why we
  157. 8:09are organizing our thoughts about this
  158. 8:12period of time you can do it for any
  159. 8:15situation now we've thought about it
  160. 8:17again we have the five W's very clearly
  161. 8:20broken down for the afternoon routine so
  162. 8:24how would we now speak about the
  163. 8:27afternoon routine here we go
  164. 8:30this is how we would say all of that
  165. 8:33information I am a web designer and I
  166. 8:35work with a great team got it almost
  167. 8:39every day we have a team meeting at
  168. 8:41around 2:00 p.m. in the afternoon got it
  169. 8:45when our team meetings are in the big
  170. 8:48conference room down the hall from my
  171. 8:51office got it where we meet to discuss
  172. 8:55how we will create all of the images
  173. 8:58layouts and video videos for a new
  174. 9:00corporate website got it I explained why
  175. 9:04so because we thought about our
  176. 9:06afternoon routine five W's we were able
  177. 9:09to speak fluently in English about our
  178. 9:13afternoon routines again think and speak
  179. 9:17simple formula use the five W's and bow
  180. 9:21you'll start sounding like a native
  181. 9:23English speaker now within our answer
  182. 9:26there are about three things that I want
  183. 9:28to explain to you so here we go I want
  184. 9:31to explain the first one the first one
  185. 9:34is at around let me take this off the
  186. 9:37screen very quickly at around now this
  187. 9:41means near or close to approximately and
  188. 9:46it usually refers to a numerical value
  189. 9:49or point in time so for example let's
  190. 9:53say you're gonna have a party you gonna
  191. 9:55have a
  192. 9:56party all right so you're gonna have a
  193. 9:58party right and you say hey guys my
  194. 10:01party starts at 3 pm. everyone's like
  195. 10:04okay I'll be there but then one of your
  196. 10:06friends says oh my goodness I have to
  197. 10:08work that day and I get off at 300 p.m.
  198. 10:12but I'll Rush there and I think I can
  199. 10:14get there at around 3:45 it means
  200. 10:19approximately I'm going to try to get
  201. 10:21there at that time in English we use at
  202. 10:25around so again look at how we used it
  203. 10:28in this situ situation we said we have a
  204. 10:31team meeting at around 2: p.m. meaning
  205. 10:36approximately makes sense right okay now
  206. 10:39what about down the hall from I said
  207. 10:42down the hall from now this is also
  208. 10:45something we use on a regular basis so
  209. 10:48down the hall from means it specifies a
  210. 10:52location along the hall like if you're
  211. 10:54in a building there's a hallway so down
  212. 10:58the hall from means you're talking about
  213. 11:00a certain place along the hallway it
  214. 11:03means further along the hall from a
  215. 11:06specific location I'm in this spot but
  216. 11:10it's further down from me it's down the
  217. 11:13hall from dot dot dot so my office is
  218. 11:18down the hall from my boss's office the
  219. 11:22bathroom is down the hall from the
  220. 11:25conference room you see what's happening
  221. 11:27right you're telling where something is
  222. 11:30in relation to something else in English
  223. 11:33we say down the hall from so in this
  224. 11:36example speaking about his afternoon
  225. 11:39routine her afternoon routine we said
  226. 11:42our meetings are in the big conference
  227. 11:45room down the hall from my office makes
  228. 11:49sense right okay now there was one more
  229. 11:51that I wanted to explain it was
  230. 11:55corporate corporate now again after me
  231. 11:58for pronun ation
  232. 12:01corporate excellent now we saw how we
  233. 12:03use this we said the last sentence we
  234. 12:06need to discuss how we will create all
  235. 12:09of the images layouts and videos for a
  236. 12:12new corporate website all right so what
  237. 12:16does corporate mean corporate actually
  238. 12:18means relating to a large company so
  239. 12:22think about Apple I love Apple computers
  240. 12:25I love Apple products apple is a huge
  241. 12:29huge company now the main office could
  242. 12:32be referred to as the corporate office
  243. 12:35or the headquarters so corporate just
  244. 12:39refers to a large company so when we
  245. 12:42explained the afternoon routine we said
  246. 12:46they meet to discuss what they're going
  247. 12:48to do for the large company website or
  248. 12:52the corporate website makes sense right
  249. 12:55so now we understand corporate so again
  250. 12:59we were able to speak about the
  251. 13:00afternoon routine like a native English
  252. 13:03speaker very fluently simply because we
  253. 13:07first thought about it in English one
  254. 13:10more time who what when where and why
  255. 13:16all of these pieces of information were
  256. 13:19included in our response when we spoke
  257. 13:23about the afternoon routine so what
  258. 13:27about the evening routine routine all
  259. 13:30right so here we go evening routine
  260. 13:31maybe you enjoy hanging out with your
  261. 13:35friends so we have to start with again
  262. 13:37the who my closest friends and I they're
  263. 13:41my elementary school friends what we go
  264. 13:45out to eat when every Thursday at 700
  265. 13:50p.m. where popular restaurants in our
  266. 13:54area why we are all Foodies and we enjoy
  267. 13:59spending time with each other after work
  268. 14:02now I want to pause really quickly and
  269. 14:04emphasize something
  270. 14:06again this phase this step this stage is
  271. 14:10very simple it doesn't matter what level
  272. 14:13you are in English you can think of who
  273. 14:16you were with what you did very simply
  274. 14:19where you were why and when again the
  275. 14:23thinking portion is simple breaking it
  276. 14:26down using the five ws right
  277. 14:29now we have everything that you do in
  278. 14:32the evening with your friends having a
  279. 14:35great time now we need to speak in
  280. 14:39English about your evening routine so
  281. 14:42here we go evening routine using all of
  282. 14:45the information we gathered from the
  283. 14:46five W's my closest friends and I have
  284. 14:49known each other since elementary school
  285. 14:53usually we try to hang out every
  286. 14:55Thursday at 700 p.m. we go out to eat at
  287. 14:59popular restaurants in our area because
  288. 15:02we are all Foodies but more importantly
  289. 15:05we truly enjoy spending time with each
  290. 15:08other after work now you know how
  291. 15:11natural that sounded right but look I
  292. 15:15just use the five W's and you can do the
  293. 15:18same thing to sound like a native
  294. 15:20English speaker now there are a few
  295. 15:23words and expressions that I'd like to
  296. 15:24go over with you the first one is hang
  297. 15:28out after me hang
  298. 15:31out excellent now let me explain what
  299. 15:34hangout actually means here we go it
  300. 15:37means to spend time relaxing or
  301. 15:40socializing informally or to spend a lot
  302. 15:44of time in a place or with someone hey
  303. 15:48spend time with your friends at a
  304. 15:50restaurant I used to enjoy cooking for
  305. 15:52my friends when I lived in South Korea I
  306. 15:55loved it and I would invite them over
  307. 15:57and we would hang out
  308. 15:59spend time together so in the comments
  309. 16:02section I want you to tell us where do
  310. 16:04you like to hang out do you like to hang
  311. 16:07out at the mall at your friend's house
  312. 16:10maybe you like to go to a cafe where do
  313. 16:13you like to hang out let us know in the
  314. 16:15chat section all right so we say hang
  315. 16:17out in English so again looking at it
  316. 16:20what do we see we my closest friends and
  317. 16:24I usually try to hang out every Thursday
  318. 16:27at 700 p.m. now I want us to look at the
  319. 16:31next one go out to eat you may have
  320. 16:33heard this one or you may not have this
  321. 16:36just means again to eat at a restaurant
  322. 16:40or away from one's home so I mentioned
  323. 16:43earlier that I love cooking but
  324. 16:46sometimes it's nice to go to a
  325. 16:49restaurant to let somebody else cook for
  326. 16:52me to let somebody else cook for myself
  327. 16:54and my friends so we go out we're not
  328. 16:57inside we go out to eat let us know in
  329. 17:00the chat section where do you like to go
  330. 17:02out to eat maybe in your country there
  331. 17:04are
  332. 17:05some amazing restaurants where do you
  333. 17:08like to go out to eat I love going to
  334. 17:11Indian restaurants as you all know I
  335. 17:13love Indian food and Mexican food as
  336. 17:15well so we say go out to eat in English
  337. 17:19and again we saw we said go out to eat
  338. 17:22at popular restaurants now the last one
  339. 17:25I want to explain is a popular one food
  340. 17:29foodie you got it f sound front teeth
  341. 17:32bottom lip after me
  342. 17:34foodie excellent all right now let me
  343. 17:36explain what a foodie is a foodie is a
  344. 17:40person with a particular interest in
  345. 17:43food or a person who loves
  346. 17:46food and is very interested in different
  347. 17:50types of food yes I consider myself to
  348. 17:53be a foodie I love so many different
  349. 17:55types of food I love Indian I love
  350. 17:57Haitian I love Mexican I love
  351. 18:00Mediterranean because the food is
  352. 18:01delicious so I consider myself to be a
  353. 18:04foodie because I'm so interested in food
  354. 18:08maybe you're a foodie as well all right
  355. 18:10so we say Foodie in English and we
  356. 18:13explain that my friends and I are
  357. 18:17Foodies makes sense right okay so again
  358. 18:20what we did was we were able to explain
  359. 18:24talk about speak English fluently about
  360. 18:27my or your or their evening routine
  361. 18:31simply simply because we first thought
  362. 18:36about it in English who what when where
  363. 18:41and why and then we were able to give
  364. 18:44the response like a native English
  365. 18:48speaker now honestly I hope you enjoyed
  366. 18:50this lesson I hope you learned a lot and
  367. 18:53I hope you put this into practice you
  368. 18:55can do it I want to encourage you all
  369. 18:58you have have to do is think in English
  370. 19:01like a native English speaker using the
  371. 19:02five W's and then you'll be able to
  372. 19:05speak like a native English speaker
  373. 19:08thank you so much for giving me the
  374. 19:09opportunity to help you and to teach you

  387. 19:50time all right today's story is about
  388. 19:55food that's right I explained earlier in
  389. 19:58the lesson that I am a foodie I love
  390. 20:02food and I have a friend who is also a
  391. 20:06foodie and we actually became close
  392. 20:09friends because of that so let me
  393. 20:11explain what happened so I had been in
  394. 20:14Korea for about 8 years and I came home
  395. 20:18just for a short break and I was going
  396. 20:20to go back to South Korea to finish my
  397. 20:23last year and a half there now when I
  398. 20:26was going back I was told by the office
  399. 20:29like the head office that they were
  400. 20:30going to place me at a new school a
  401. 20:32school I had never been to so I was a
  402. 20:35bit apprehensive because I didn't know
  403. 20:37anyone there and all of my roots my
  404. 20:40Korean family members lived in Soul for
  405. 20:43those that Know About Soul it's the
  406. 20:44major city in Korea and they wanted to
  407. 20:47move me to the outskirts of the city
  408. 20:50Look up the word outskirts on the
  409. 20:52outside kind of like the suburbs but a
  410. 20:54very quiet area and I said you know what
  411. 20:57it's okay I prayed about it and I
  412. 20:58decided to go so when I got there there
  413. 21:01were only I think three or four other
  414. 21:04Korean teachers and I think two or three
  415. 21:07other foreign teachers like Americans or
  416. 21:10native English speakers it was a very
  417. 21:12small school I left a school that had 10
  418. 21:14and another school that had 20 so this
  419. 21:16was a very small school and in the
  420. 21:18school among the Korean teachers there
  421. 21:20was one teacher and I'll say her name
  422. 21:23Annie she may watch this video her name
  423. 21:25was Annie and she seems really nice she
  424. 21:28seemed very very organized and she also
  425. 21:30seemed to be a very good teacher just
  426. 21:32from observing her when I first got
  427. 21:33there and I was like okay yeah she seems
  428. 21:35basically about business and I am a
  429. 21:37person that is about business I take my
  430. 21:40job seriously and she seemed to be that
  431. 21:42type of person as well so anyways Annie
  432. 21:45approached me one day and said Tiffany
  433. 21:47you know would you mind teaching me the
  434. 21:48Bible now we had known each other for
  435. 21:51maybe a month we weren't close but we
  436. 21:53saw each other every day at work and she
  437. 21:55recognized that I enjoyed teaching the
  438. 21:57Bible to my students
  439. 21:59so I said sure no no worries she knew I
  440. 22:02spoke Korean and she also spoke English
  441. 22:04well but she said hey I think it'll be
  442. 22:06nice to study the Bible with you in
  443. 22:08English and if I have questions I can
  444. 22:09ask you in Korean said sure no problem
  445. 22:12so we started studying the Bible we had
  446. 22:14a great time she loves God I love God
  447. 22:17and we had great conversations so we had
  448. 22:19been studying with each other for maybe
  449. 22:21about two or three weeks and again I
  450. 22:23noticed that she was a very hard worker
  451. 22:25I admired her work ethic but that was
  452. 22:27the extent we didn't do anything after
  453. 22:30work we just saw each other at work very
  454. 22:32cordial very nice to each other so one
  455. 22:34day Annie approached me when we were in
  456. 22:37the staff room and said hey Tiffany do
  457. 22:40you want to go out to eat for lunch and
  458. 22:42I was like okay sure you know I was new
  459. 22:45to the area again I'm a foodie but she
  460. 22:48and I had never talked about food she
  461. 22:50said you want to go out to lunch I said
  462. 22:51sure she said yeah there's an Indian
  463. 22:54restaurant not too far from here now
  464. 22:56remember I told you my favorite food is
  465. 22:57Indian so inside I said oh yeah but
  466. 23:02outside I said oh that sounds
  467. 23:05nice now Annie knows me very well now so
  468. 23:08my responses are a lot different but you
  469. 23:10know I didn't know her that well and I
  470. 23:12said oh okay you know that's nice let's
  471. 23:14go I was
  472. 23:16excited so anyways the next day we
  473. 23:19decided and we went to the restaurant so
  474. 23:22we get to the restaurant and again we're
  475. 23:23just talking great conversation it was
  476. 23:25really easy to talk to her we had great
  477. 23:27conversation and we talked about life
  478. 23:29you know my experiences her experiences
  479. 23:32and then the food came now when the food
  480. 23:34came remember I am a foodie I love
  481. 23:37Indian food so I know what Indian food
  482. 23:39is good and what Indian food is not good
  483. 23:41so the plates arrived and like there was
  484. 23:44the steam coming up from the curry and
  485. 23:47then I saw the naan and I was getting
  486. 23:50excited because my nose was happy I
  487. 23:53could smell that the seasonings they
  488. 23:56were correct right so but again I was
  489. 23:59still talking to Annie and we were just
  490. 24:01talking so the food came you know we
  491. 24:03prayed over the food we you know kind of
  492. 24:05like wiped our hands off and I took a
  493. 24:08piece of the naan and I dipped it into
  494. 24:10the curry and when I put it to my mouth
  495. 24:13I
  496. 24:14said it was y'all it was good and I was
  497. 24:18kind of enjoying it and in that moment I
  498. 24:21heard Annie do the same thing like this
  499. 24:24food is good now again a lot of the
  500. 24:26conversation was happening in Korean
  501. 24:27because we switched over when we were at
  502. 24:29the restaurant so I looked up and I said
  503. 24:32this food is good isn't it she said Woo
  504. 24:34yes this food is good and I realized oh
  505. 24:37my goodness she's a foodie too needless
  506. 24:40to say fast forward wow has it been four
  507. 24:43years four years and she's one of my
  508. 24:45closest friends we enjoyed that meal and
  509. 24:49she realized how much I loved food and
  510. 24:51we just talked about oh my goodness the
  511. 24:53seasoning the naan is good the curry is
  512. 24:55good this is good and we realized how
  513. 24:58much loved food so the next week we went
  514. 25:00out to lunch again and the following
  515. 25:02week we went out to lunch again and we
  516. 25:04kept going to different restaurants we
  517. 25:06would make plans to go and travel we
  518. 25:08would go 45 minutes in the middle of the
  519. 25:11day to go get some delicious food and
  520. 25:12rush back to work for the afternoon we
  521. 25:15loved food and we bonded over food of
  522. 25:18course our love for God as well but she
  523. 25:20became one of my closest friends and we
  524. 25:23are still close to this day all because
  525. 25:26we found out that we both we're
  526. 25:29Foodies now again guys you all know how
