The Ultimate Halo Iceberg EXPLAINED — Transcript
Full transcript
- 0:00Welcome to the ultimate creepy,
- 0:02fascinating, disturbing, and downright
- 0:05weird Halo iceberg. Now, I've spent the
- 0:08last few weeks crafting this iceberg on
- 0:11the anvil of Hidden Experion. And if I
- 0:13say so myself, I think it's pretty damn
- 0:15good. It contains some entries taken
- 0:17from icebergs made by He-Man077,
- 0:20Tobacco Crow, and Nikos, who by the way
- 0:22is an amazing YouTuber. But with that
- 0:25said, the vast majority of entries in
- 0:27this iceberg are entirely original and
- 0:29created by yours truly. Now, this is a
- 0:32very long video. Not to point out the
- 0:34obvious or anything. Just to put it into
- 0:35perspective, my usual videos are about
- 0:384,000 words long. This video is over
- 0:4024,000 words long. So, we are going to
- 0:43be covering an incredible amount of the
- 0:46overall Halo mythos from Halo's law to
- 0:48development law to community law and so
- 0:51many other things in between. And also
- 0:53because of just how many videos I've
- 0:54already made about Halo in general, a
- 0:56lot of the entries in this iceberg I've
- 0:58already made videos about in greater
- 1:00detail, and they will all be linked down
- 1:01below in the description. So, real
- 1:03quick, if you don't know how icebergs
- 1:05work, we're going to start out by
- 1:07talking about relatively well-known
- 1:08facts and details about Halo before
- 1:11descending into progressively more
- 1:13obscure, disturbing, and oftentimes just
- 1:16flatout weird and disgusting things.
- 1:19Now, I will say given the length of this
- 1:21video, there is no way in hell that I
- 1:22can record it all in one sitting. My
- 1:24voice box will probably try and kill me
- 1:26if I do that. So, expect a few costume
- 1:28changes throughout. Oh, and I also
- 1:30thought just to honor the king of
- 1:31iceberg videos on YouTube, I'd wear the
- 1:34closest thing that I own to a Hawaiian
- 1:35shirt. But before we dive into this
- 1:38herculean video, a quick word from
- 1:40today's sponsor, Magic Spoon. So, you
- 1:42guys have been noticing my gains
- 1:44recently. And by the way, thank you. The
- 1:45comments are really nice. I really
- 1:47appreciate them. And well, Magic Spoon
- 1:49has been helping me hit my protein
- 1:50whilst keeping my calories in check.
- 1:52Magic Spooner cereal is not only
- 1:54nostalgically delicious, regardless of
- 1:56the flavor, but comes with 13 to 14 g of
- 1:59protein whilst only having 4 to 5 g of
- 2:02net carbs and 0 g of sugar per serving.
- 2:06My favorite flavor is definitely frosted
- 2:08because it's a flavor that you don't
- 2:10really get much in the UK and it just
- 2:12tastes inherently American while still
- 2:14somehow being very macroofriendly. But
- 2:16if like me, you like a late night snack
- 2:18with a cup of tea, then well, the Magic
- 2:20Spoon treats will come in perfectly.
- 2:22These bad boys come in a whole variety
- 2:25of flavors, packing between 11 and 12 g
- 2:27of protein, 1 g of sugar, and between 1
- 2:30to 2 g of net carbs per serving, making
- 2:33for the most macroconscious snack
- 2:35possible. Magic Spoon is really helping
- 2:37me hit my macros and my protein without
- 2:39eating tasteless, boring food. And by
- 2:42using my code experia or by clicking my
- 2:44link in the description, you can try
- 2:46Magic Spoon cereal or treats today and
- 2:48get $5 off. You can also find Magic
- 2:51Spoon on Amazon or in your nearest
- 2:52grocery store. And Magic Spoon are so
- 2:55confident in their product that it comes
- 2:56with a 100% money back guarantee. That
- 2:59means that if you don't like it for
- 3:00whatever reason, they'll refund 100% of
- 3:02your money, no questions asked. So,
- 3:05click the link in the description to go

- 3:08or just scan the QR code on screen and
- 3:10get $5 off your order today. Thank you
- 3:13to Magixpoon for sponsoring the video.
- 3:15And let's begin with the longest video
- 3:17that I have ever made. So, starting out
- 3:21the iceberg in tier one grunt tier, we
- 3:24have one of Halo's most iconic elements,
- 3:28teaagging. The art of teaagging is
- 3:30arguably Halo's most iconic tradition
- 3:32that has since become commonplace in all
- 3:35of gaming. Spamming crouch over
- 3:37somebody's body to simulate well dipping
- 3:39your teaag in their tea. It can also be
- 3:43used as a means of non-verbal
- 3:45communication as well. Craig is a brute
- 3:48that was born from Halo Infinite's
- 3:50disastrous gameplay reveal in 2020 and
- 3:53went on to be the frontman of a band
- 3:55that tooured the banished outpost of
- 3:56Zeta Halo. Now, I did see an entry in
- 3:59another iceberg that suggested that
- 4:01Craig was a scop or some kind of
- 4:04intentional plant on 343's behalf to get
- 4:06people talking about Halo Infinite. But,
- 4:09you know, given the reception of that
- 4:10gameplay demo in 2020, something tells
- 4:13me that that wasn't the case. Webbos.
- 4:17Webbos are an in universe brand of
- 4:19cereal that you can find on the floor in
- 4:21ODST. The name and the strange art on
- 4:24the box is actually in reference to a
- 4:26character called the webmaster who's a
- 4:29really old school character in Bungie
- 4:31lore dating back to 1996. Of course,
- 4:34this character is in fact just some
- 4:36mysterious Bungee employee in a gorilla
- 4:38outfit for some reason wearing a cowboy
- 4:40hat. And yes, although this is certainly
- 4:43a very weird character, trust me, the
- 4:46web master doesn't even come close to
- 4:48some of the strange entities in Bungie's
- 4:51lore that we're going to be covering
- 4:52later on down the iceberg. Noble 6
- 4:55hiding in a cave. This is of course in
- 4:57reference to the extremely popular fan
- 4:59theory that Noble 6 in fact didn't die
- 5:01at the end of Halo Reach and instead is
- 5:04hiding out in a cave somewhere on Reach
- 5:06waiting to reappear, which by the way I
- 5:09can confirm is 100% cannon. Rats. The
- 5:14crow's nest rats are hands down Halo 3's
- 5:16most iconic NPC. But I bet you didn't
- 5:19know that they actually reappeared 150
- 5:21km west in Halo Infinite on the map
- 5:24Bazaar, roaming the streets of Old
- 5:26Mombasa. The Halo Ring Experience. This
- 5:29was one of the events at Halo Outpost
- 5:31Discovery in 2019 that was essentially
- 5:34an immersive tour of a Halo Ring in a
- 5:36planetarium style dome cinema. Now, I
- 5:39got to say, having actually experienced
- 5:41the ring experience in person at
- 5:42Outpost, this thing was awesome. It kind
- 5:45of reminded me of one of those old
- 5:47school funfair simulators that you'd sit
- 5:49in, except of course this was set in the
- 5:51Halo universe, so it was automatically
- 5:53cooler. Cyborg Master Chief. This refers
- 5:57to the Master Chief being called a
- 5:59cyborg multiple times in the early days
- 6:01of Halo. And although that description
- 6:03sounds false, technically it's true. A
- 6:07cyborg is defined as a person whose
- 6:09physical abilities are extended beyond
- 6:11normal human limitations by mechanical
- 6:14elements built into the body which
- 6:16technically the Spartans are thanks to
- 6:18the neural interace that they have in
- 6:20their schools that allow AIS to
- 6:22essentially become one with them. So by
- 6:25slightly unconventional means all
- 6:27Spartans and by extension other humans
- 6:29too are technically cyborgs in Halo. But
- 6:32then also in a more conventional way,
- 6:35there are some Spartans, like Cat, for
- 6:37example, who are pretty clear-cut
- 6:38cyborgs thanks to their mechanical
- 6:40prosthetics. The bottom line though is
- 6:42that yeah, Chief is technically a
- 6:44cyborg. So these old descriptions are
- 6:47still canonically accurate. Not Sid was
- 6:50here. So this is a pretty
- 6:51straightforward Easter egg on Halo 2's
- 6:53remake of Blood Gulch coagulation where
- 6:56the titular words not Sid was here are
- 6:58engraved in the wall of one of the
- 7:00caves. It's safe to assume that Sid was
- 7:02slash is a Bungeie employee and that he
- 7:05was at no point here. Recon. Recon is
- 7:09one of the top three most iconic helmets
- 7:12in all of Halo and a testament to the
- 7:14individuality and status that armor used
- 7:16to have when it wasn't locked behind a
- 7:19slop tier payw wall. Initially, recon in
- 7:22Halo 3 was a legendary helmet with a
- 7:24mythical status only given to Bungie
- 7:27employees and a very select few members
- 7:29of the community for highly special
- 7:31reasons. For example, some of the
- 7:33earliest recipients of Recon were MLG
- 7:36and esports legend Walshi, Digital Fear,
- 7:39the creator of Obby and the Chief, and
- 7:41also the guy who managed to splatter
- 7:43himself with a traffic cone. Getting
- 7:45into a game with somebody who had recon
- 7:47in the early days of Halo 3 was
- 7:49literally the digital version of bumping
- 7:51into Tom Cruz at Tesco. People that had
- 7:54it in the early days were some of the
- 7:56earliest forms of e celebrity to exist.
- 7:59But due to popular demand when ODST
- 8:02released, Bungie resurrected the
- 8:03Vidmaster challenges from Marathon and
- 8:05the reward for completing all seven of
- 8:07them was the Recon helmet. And then
- 8:10sadly, every iteration of Recon since
- 8:12has lacked the soul of the original.
- 8:15Halo 3 Recon was a hallmark asset in
- 8:18video game history, and the way that it
- 8:20inspired the Halo community to get
- 8:22creative and do weird things to try and
- 8:24earn it was unlike anything that you see
- 8:26in the modern gaming industry. This
- 8:29armor really is just a relic of a better
- 8:32era of gaming. Halo 2600. Halo 2600 is a
- 8:36really interesting, I guess,
- 8:38semiofficial Halo spin-off game that I
- 8:41guarantee you haven't heard of. Released
- 8:43in 2010, it's an Atari style Halo game
- 8:47made by one of the absolute unsung
- 8:50legends of Halo, Ed Freeze. The game
- 8:53itself is actually part of an exhibition
- 8:55at the Smithsonian Art Museum, which is
- 8:57pretty cool. When it comes to gameplay,
- 8:58there isn't really that much to talk
- 9:00about because it is literally just an
- 9:01Atari game. But what is cool is that it
- 9:04saw a small physical release on actual
- 9:07real Atari cartridges which work just
- 9:10like any other cartridge for the Atari
- 9:122600. Meaning that Halo 2600 is at least
- 9:17for now technically the only Halo game
- 9:20to ever release on another platform. I
- 9:23should specify another console platform.
- 9:26Ed Freeze is a legend though. He was the
- 9:28head of Microsoft Game Studios in 2000
- 9:30when they were in the process of
- 9:31acquiring Bungie. And from every ex
- 9:34Bungie employee that I've spoken to,
- 9:36this guy is the perfect example of how a
- 9:39suit in gaming should behave. Ed Freeze
- 9:42is a truly great guy who fought Bungie's
- 9:45corner tooth and nail, and he's one of
- 9:47the pivotal reasons that Halo became
- 9:49what it was. Jason Jones, Halo 2 and 3.
- 9:53Bungie co-founder and legend Jason Jones
- 9:56has two secret cameos in Halo. In Halo
- 9:582, he shows up in the background of the
- 10:00legendary intro cutscene of Gravemind.
- 10:02And in Halo 3, you can find him floating
- 10:05in this dark corner off the beaten path
- 10:07of the final level. Both times
- 10:09surrendering topless for some reason.
- 10:12Halo CE fuel rod gun. Now, Halo 1's fuel
- 10:16rod gun is mentioned here because it is
- 10:18almost the black sheep of the fuel rod
- 10:19guns. Almost every version of the fuel
- 10:22rod from Halo 2 onwards was exactly the
- 10:24same. They're all gold clipfed lower
- 10:27power rocket launchers. But the Chad
- 10:30Halo 1 fuel rod is purple, battery
- 10:32powered, and functions more like a
- 10:34handheld artillery cannon with heavy
- 10:37rocket or I guess rod drop at range.
- 10:40Halo 1's fuel rod is handsdown the
- 10:43greatest iteration of the weapon. You
- 10:45know, I will forever be annoyed that it
- 10:47returned in Halo Infinite as this
- 10:50abomination instead of the banish themed
- 10:53Halo 1 fuel rod that we always deserved.
- 10:56Original Noble 6. Spartan B312. Our
- 11:00Noble 6 joins Noble team right at the
- 11:02start of Reach following the death of
- 11:04the original Noble 6, Tom A293, who's
- 11:08the Noble 6 that we see blow up the
- 11:10Covenant carrier and then also die in
- 11:12the process in the Deliver hope trailer.
- 11:15Jeremy Clarkson is cannon. So in 2013
- 11:18when the Warthog was being added to
- 11:19Forza, Jeremy Clarkson did an official
- 11:22Top Gear style breakdown of the iconic
- 11:25vehicle going through all of its
- 11:26properties in very typical Top Gear
- 11:29detail. Unlike the Porsche, which is
- 11:31vulnerable to disappearing off the road
- 11:33backwards, the Wartthog is only
- 11:35vulnerable to Banshees, fuel rod guns,
- 11:38and light plasma cannons. So don't say
- 11:41you haven't been warned. Which begs the
- 11:44question, does that mean that Jeremy
- 11:46Clarkson is a canon entity in the Halo
- 11:49universe? Have the UNCC or AMG
- 11:52resurrected him as an AI? I'll let you
- 11:55decide.
- 11:58Where the hell are we?
- 12:00>> 50 Cent is a Halo fan. Now, there are a
- 12:03lot of really famous Halo fans, which
- 12:05we're going to come to later on, and
- 12:06believe it or not, 50 Cent is one of
- 12:08them. And we found out through a really
- 12:11weird circumstance. So during the heyday
- 12:14of Halo's MLG era, one of their sponsors
- 12:16hosted a meetup between Elumite and
- 12:19Neighbor, who were two of the top pros
- 12:20at the time, and 50 Cent and Soulja Boy,
- 12:23where they played Halo 3 together. This
- 12:25video feels like a semi-lost piece of
- 12:28older school Halo media, and it's so
- 12:30weird to look back on and watch, but I
- 12:32figured it was worth a mention because
- 12:34this is such a strange minute bit of
- 12:37general Halo mythos. Halo is cannon in
- 12:40Runescape. In the most recent Runescape
- 12:43Easter event, one of the lines of
- 12:45dialogue says, "The hole doesn't look
- 12:47like a natural formation. Someone or
- 12:49something dug it, so it must lead
- 12:52somewhere." Now, given that that's an
- 12:54almost verbatim quoting of Halo,
- 12:56theoretically that means that Halo
- 12:58exists in Runescape and that somebody in
- 13:01Runescape in the world of Gillanor has
- 13:04played Halo 1.
- 13:06I'm only 80% joking with that one. The
- 13:09dark reality of the Spartans.
- 13:12So, for the final entry in Grunt Tier,
- 13:14we have something that is deeply
- 13:16disturbing and incredibly dark and that
- 13:19theoretically should be far lower down
- 13:21the iceberg, but it's this high up
- 13:23because frankly every man and his dog
- 13:25knows this bit of Halo law. The fact
- 13:27that the Spartan 2 are in fact kidnapped
- 13:30children. Everybody knows about this,
- 13:32but if you somehow don't, well, the
- 13:34Spartan 2, including Master Chief, were
- 13:36comprised entirely of six-year-old
- 13:39children who were kidnapped from their
- 13:40parents. They were replaced by a clone
- 13:43known as a flash clone that would soon
- 13:45die of natural causes and then pumped
- 13:47full of highly experimental and
- 13:49dangerous chemicals to make them the
- 13:51ultimate killing machines for stomping
- 13:53out rebellions across the galaxy. Many
- 13:55children died or were severely crippled
- 13:58due to these chemicals. But others went
- 14:00on to become the near invincible super
- 14:02soldiers that we play as in Halo.
- 14:05So, moving into tier two, Joe Stton
- 14:08tier. We're kicking this tier off with
- 14:10the most iconic Halo leak of all time,
- 14:13the supposed Halo 4 leak. Now, from what
- 14:18I remember, this leak started during the
- 14:19rounds in around 2009 2010 as a supposed
- 14:23Halo 4 leak. But based on my research,
- 14:26this image actually far precedes that
- 14:29time. It was created by Bungie.net net
- 14:31user Major Dump sometime in the mid200s
- 14:35and depicts Chief facing off against an
- 14:37alpha Xenome from Gunman Chronicles,
- 14:40which again I also only found out today.
- 14:42And yeah, it goes without saying, but
- 14:44this leak was very, very fake. The Peter
- 14:47Jackson Halo movie. Thanks to The Lord
- 14:50of the Rings, Peter Jackson had
- 14:51undoubtedly the greatest start to the
- 14:54millennium in all of Hollywood. And that
- 14:56was going to continue originally with
- 14:58his Halo movie in 2005. It was announced
- 15:01that Peter Jackson would be producing
- 15:03the Halo movie with Fran Walsh of Wetter
- 15:06Studios with Neil Blumamp set to direct.
- 15:08But sadly, this movie ultimately fell
- 15:11through. Now, we're going to return to
- 15:12this movie quite a few times as we get
- 15:14further down the iceberg, but suffice to
- 15:16say that they were striking whilst The
- 15:18Iron was at its absolute hottest. Not
- 15:21only was Halo near its peak popularity,
- 15:23but Peter Jackson was also at his
- 15:26absolute peak at that time as well. This
- 15:28movie, had it happened, would have been
- 15:31tremendously successful. Scrapped
- 15:33levels. This obviously refers to the
- 15:36fact that there's a litany of scrapped
- 15:38levels throughout all the Halo
- 15:39campaigns, with arguably the most iconic
- 15:42being Halo 2's Alpha Moon and Foreigner
- 15:44Tank and Halo 3's Guardian Forest and
- 15:47Foreigner City. Scrapped weapons. And
- 15:50this entry is exactly the same, but for
- 15:52the weapons, including things like Halo
- 15:551's gravity wrench, spear gun, and
- 15:57gravity rifle. Halo 2's GPMG, Jackal
- 16:01Shield, and Disintegrator, Halo 3's
- 16:03Excavator and Guardian Eye, Halo Reach's
- 16:06foreigner staff, Halo 4's Bishop Beam,
- 16:09and many, many more. Truth's voice actor
- 16:13change. So, as I think we're all very
- 16:15aware by now, the voice actor for the
- 16:17profit of truth changed between Halo 2
- 16:19and Halo 3. In Halo 2, he was voiced by
- 16:21Michael Wincott, but Wincott didn't want
- 16:24to return in Halo 3, so they recast
- 16:26Truth as Terran Stamp. Now, both
- 16:28versions of Truth, I think, are pretty
- 16:30good, but it's undeniable that Halo 2's
- 16:33was just god tier and by far the
- 16:36superior version. Vidmaster challenges.
- 16:38The Vidmaster challenges were unique
- 16:40challenges across the entire suite of
- 16:42Halo that were added in Halo 3 and were
- 16:45also present in ODST, Spartan Assault,
- 16:47Spartan Strike, and also Halo Wars 2.
- 16:50But funnily enough, they actually
- 16:51originated before Halo. They came from
- 16:54Marathon. Vid Masters like Endure and
- 16:57Annual are beyond iconic, and if you ask
- 17:01me, Vidmasters should be a core staple
- 17:03of every Halo game moving forward. The
- 17:06BBC incident. So, this one's quite
- 17:09funny. In 2012, the BBC did a report on
- 17:12something pertaining to the UN Security
- 17:14Council. So, the UN SC. And clearly, the
- 17:19person who did all the graphics for this
- 17:21report wasn't a Halo fan because they
- 17:23used the Halo UNC logo over the actual
- 17:26UNC logo. This was a pretty iconic
- 17:29moment of gaming crossing over into the
- 17:31normie world, but trust me when I say
- 17:33that it is by no means the craziest
- 17:36example of that that we're going to be
- 17:37covering today. Halo is a cool guy. This
- 17:40refers to the most famous Halo 4chan
- 17:43post of all time. For some reason, some
- 17:45guy in 2007 woke up one morning and
- 17:48decided to postm
- 17:50I think Halo is a pretty cool guy. He
- 17:53kills aliens and doesn't afraid of
- 17:56anything on some board on 4chan. And
- 17:59it's since become a rather iconic copy
- 18:01pasta. So much so that even Halo Studios
- 18:04have referenced it with a weapon charm
- 18:05in Halo Infinite. Now, in researching
- 18:08this post, I found an even more
- 18:10incoherent version of it from 2009 that
- 18:13I just I have to share.
- 18:15I'm Master Chef Gutted the plasm. I'm
- 18:20van master chef gutted the plasma riffle
- 18:24and shattered alter aliens. The thread
- 18:27descends into far more weirdness from
- 18:30there, but you get the picture. Seven.
- 18:34Bungie are of course lovers of the
- 18:36number seven and have been putting
- 18:37references to it in all of their games
- 18:39since the dawn of time or the dawn of
- 18:41the company and Halo is by far their
- 18:44most iconic example. Some, but by no
- 18:47means all, of the seven references in
- 18:49Halo include the seven Halo rings, seven
- 18:53Vidmass challenges, seven Covenant races
- 18:55in Halo 2, seven Covenant vehicles in
- 18:58Halo 2, Halo 3's seven wood, 117,
- 19:03and many, many more. I've linked the
- 19:05Halopedia page for 7 down below in the
- 19:08description if you really want to dive
- 19:10into every single seven reference. Um,
- 19:12but if you do, I think you'll be there
- 19:14for quite some time. Destiny awaits.
- 19:16After Halo 3, many of Bungie's
- 19:18leadership, including Jason Jones, began
- 19:21or had already shifted their focus to
- 19:23what would come beyond Halo, of course,
- 19:25Destiny. And so, they decided to hide a
- 19:28little Easter egg reference to their
- 19:30then unannounced IP in Halo 3 ODST. A
- 19:34picture of Earth with the moon that
- 19:36looks an awful lot like the Traveler
- 19:38with the caption, "Destiny awaits." Of
- 19:41course, at the time, nobody thought
- 19:42anything of this because Destiny didn't
- 19:44exist yet, at least to us. But as soon
- 19:46as Destiny was announced, well,
- 19:48everybody went back and clocked it.
- 19:50Sadly though, this Easter egg, likely
- 19:52due to copyright reasons, was removed in
- 19:54MCC. Gears of War 5. Gears of War 5
- 19:58contains the first Halo Gears of War
- 20:00crossover of all time, literally ever,
- 20:03which is quite insane to think about. It
- 20:05took 13 years for some reason, but boy
- 20:07was it worth the wait. Not only did
- 20:09Gears 5 include Cat as a playable
- 20:12character, but Emile as well, which
- 20:14given Gears's gore feels like a real
- 20:17natural fit. Playing Gears 5 as Emil and
- 20:20performing some extremely violent
- 20:23executions just makes me wish that Halo
- 20:25would adopt this level of gore. Emile is
- 20:28so perfectly suited to a crossover like
- 20:31this. It's insane. Oh, and the reason
- 20:33this was done was because Gears 5,
- 20:34released right before Halo Reach came to
- 20:36MCC, so it was like a little celebration
- 20:38of that as well. Halo Wars 3, a sequel
- 20:42to Halo Wars 2, was pitcher 343 and Xbox
- 20:45sometime in 2017, featuring a shift from
- 20:48ground RTS combat to being essentially
- 20:51what looked like a space grand strategy
- 20:54game where you command entire fleets of
- 20:56either UNC or Covenant ships in huge
- 20:59naval battles. However, as I'm sure
- 21:02we're all aware, this pitch was
- 21:04rejected. And then in 2021, 343
- 21:07confirmed that they have no plans right
- 21:09now to make Halo Wars 3, which sucks
- 21:12because I know for a fact that this
- 21:14version of Halo Wars would be a dream
- 21:16game for so many people. The Yonhat. The
- 21:21Yonhat are the product of cheap,
- 21:23godawwful character design born from
- 21:25Halo Nightfall and thankfully a species
- 21:28that the cannon seems to have all but
- 21:30forgotten since. They're really
- 21:32obviously just human actors wearing some
- 21:34mask and weird hand glove things, but in
- 21:38universe they're members of the Covenant
- 21:40Fringe who are known for their smuggling
- 21:42and black market tendencies. Honestly,
- 21:44the less of these things that we see,
- 21:46the better. Pistol Kanji. Engraved on
- 21:50three iterations of the Magnum are a
- 21:52series of kangji symbols, Japanese and
- 21:54Chinese characters, and also the Korean
- 21:57equivalent called hangul. On the side of
- 21:59Halo 1's M60 is this kangji symbol,
- 22:02which translates to seven. And then on
- 22:04the underside of the mag is this symbol,
- 22:06which translates to strength or power.
- 22:09The Korean hangul for seven can be found
- 22:11on both the slide and the underside of
- 22:13the mag again in Halo 3. And the SOCOM
- 22:16from ODST also has the Korean hangle for
- 22:18seven. This time stamped on the side of
- 22:21its lamb. Marathon. Marathon was
- 22:24Bungie's main big franchise before Halo.
- 22:27A mostly narrative focused single player
- 22:29experience where you play as a cyborg
- 22:32security officer fighting off various
- 22:34aliens whilst working with and against
- 22:37rampant AIs to stop a primordial horror
- 22:40from being freed from the sun. Marathon
- 22:42ended up being one of the prime
- 22:44influences for Halo. So much so that
- 22:46when it was announced, many Marathon
- 22:48fans thought that Halo was in fact
- 22:50Marathon 4. From core elements of Halo's
- 22:53story being near identical to Marathon
- 22:56to the Marathon symbol being everywhere
- 22:58in Halo, even going as far as being the
- 23:00literal foreigner symbol for humanity.
- 23:03Marathon is absolutely core to the
- 23:06identity of Halo. Cursed Halo. Cursed
- 23:09Halo is without a doubt the most iconic
- 23:12Halo mod of all time. Made by Inferno
- 23:15Plus, this mod does exactly what it says
- 23:17on the tin. It turns Halo into an
- 23:20utterly cursed experience featuring D20
- 23:24dice grenades that can spawn literally
- 23:26anything.
- 23:29Minecraft weapons, a user shooting
- 23:32magnum, a flappy banshee, the Gmod tool
- 23:36gun with a billion different variants,
- 23:38and so so many other
- 23:42things as well. The mod is so
- 23:44successful, in fact, that it spawns
- 23:46several derivatives for other games,
- 23:48with my absolute favorite being
- 23:50Gashnor's Cursed Halo 3, ODST, and
- 23:53Reach. All of which are genuinely on par
- 23:56with Inferno Plus's original and are
- 23:58well worth trying. Halo 2 Forge. So, I
- 24:02don't know why this entry is in here
- 24:03because obviously Halo 2 didn't have
- 24:04Forge, nor was it ever intended to have
- 24:06Forge. Halo 3 was, of course, the first
- 24:09Halo game with Forge, but Forge actually
- 24:11dates all the way back to Marathon. It
- 24:13was also the name of Marathon as map
- 24:15editor. That said though, Halo 2 Vista
- 24:18did come with its own map editor that
- 24:21also had an example map called Example,
- 24:24which was home to the kind of but not
- 24:26really iconic cut Halo 2 version of the
- 24:29suppressed SMG. So although Halo 2 had a
- 24:32map editor, it didn't have Forge. Forge
- 24:35came into Halo in Halo 3. Arby and the
- 24:37Chief. RB and the Chief is the most
- 24:40legendary machinima series of all time.
- 24:43Yes, even more legendary than RV. Fight
- 24:45Me that follows the adventures of real
- 24:48life Master Chief and Arbiter Toys
- 24:50created by John Graham or Digital Fear
- 24:53as he went online. It premiered with a
- 24:55series called Master Chief Sucks at Halo
- 24:572 in 2007 before becoming Arbby and the
- 25:00Chief in Halo 3. Arby and Chief are both
- 25:03voiced by Microsoft Texttoech voices.
- 25:06Microsoft Mike for Arbiter and Microsoft
- 25:08Sam for Master Chief.
- 25:09>> That is absolutely disgusting. No, you
- 25:12>> and the adventures that they get up to
- 25:14are frankly hilarious. Honestly, I
- 25:17rewatched this series semifrequently and
- 25:19I feel like for the most part it's still
- 25:21as funny as it was back in 2007208.
- 25:24Go and drop John a follow on Twitter and
- 25:27also a sub on YouTube as well because
- 25:28he's still around and he's still making
- 25:30new stuff. The guy deserves all the
- 25:31support he can get. So, his links are
- 25:33down below. Gold WTO. So, the Golden
- 25:37Warthog is the first of many Halo urban
- 25:40legends that we're going to be covering
- 25:41in this iceberg. On the Halo 2 map,
- 25:43headlong, there's a billboard commercial
- 25:45for a golden warthog. And of course,
- 25:48because it was the naughties and
- 25:49ignorance was bliss, people assumed that
- 25:52this meant there was a golden warthog
- 25:54hidden somewhere within Halo 2. A
- 25:56billion conspiracy theories were created
- 25:58and a 100red billion methods of finding
- 26:01and spawning this golden warthog were
- 26:02tried. But lo and behold, the golden
- 26:05wartthog was nothing but a myth the
- 26:07entire time. Bungie played us like a
- 26:09damn fiddle. Hidden Zerpia.
- 26:12>> Hidden Zer is me.
- 26:14>> Isolation infection. Given that
- 26:17Isolation is of course a flood-based
- 26:19map, the longer that you stay on it, the
- 26:21more the map becomes infected by the
- 26:23flood. You can literally see the flood
- 26:25spreading in real time through the
- 26:26ground, which is really cool. Finding
- 26:29the hollow drone. This one's really
- 26:32simple. So, you can find the hollow
- 26:33drone early that the heretic leader
- 26:35hologram spawns from to give his god
- 26:38tier speech at the start of the oracle.
- 26:40>> I wondered who the prophets would send
- 26:42to silence me, an arbiter.
- 26:45I'm flattered.
- 26:47>> When you get to its room, before you
- 26:48drop down, you've got to jump up onto
- 26:50this pillar, turn around and jump onto
- 26:53this ledge, and then up again to this
- 26:54platform, and then grenade jump up into
- 26:57the vent, and the hologr is just
- 26:58floating there near the ground. Weirdly,
- 27:01they actually added an achievement for
- 27:02finding the hollow drone early in MCC
- 27:05with Halo 2 Anniversary, which I thought
- 27:07was a really weird but really cool
- 27:09choice. Shooting through the deployable
- 27:11cover. Now, this is something that I
- 27:13only learned in recent times, and it
- 27:16absolutely blew my mind when I did,
- 27:18which is why it's part of the iceberg.
- 27:20Did you know that in Halo 3, you can
- 27:22shoot through the deployable cover? Of
- 27:26course, it can only be shot through from
- 27:27one side, obviously, or what the hell
- 27:29would be the point in it, and only
- 27:31select ballistics will go through, so no
- 27:33plasma bolts will pass through it. But I
- 27:35feel like barely anyone knows about
- 27:37this. I never saw anybody do this back
- 27:40in Halo 3. Granted, the deployable cover
- 27:42wasn't on that many maps, but even the
- 27:44maps that it was on, I don't think I
- 27:46ever saw a single person shoot through
- 27:49it. This blew my mind when I found it
- 27:51out. Drivable AA Reef. And to round out
- 27:54the Joe Statton tier, we have this
- 27:57certified 2007 HUD classic. Bungie cut
- 28:01the ability to officially drive the AA
- 28:03Wraith in Halo 3. But if you blow its
- 28:06hatch, crouch in a position where you
- 28:08can't board it, hold the action button
- 28:10and kill the driver, you can hop in and
- 28:13drive it just like it's an official
- 28:14vehicle. Just don't get out or it'll
- 28:17automatically explode. This thing is so
- 28:19fun to use. It single-handedly carried
- 28:22me through the Covenant on Legendary for
- 28:2418 years now, and long may that
- 28:26continue.
- 28:28Opening tier three, we have the Alex
- 28:30Garland Halo movie. So, when Bungie
- 28:33first decided to turn Halo into a movie
- 28:35after Hollywood had requested so many
- 28:37times to do so, they knew exactly who
- 28:40they wanted to write it, and it was all
- 28:42thanks to 28 Days Later. So, in 2003,
- 28:45Joe and Marty went to go see 28 Days
- 28:48Later. And upon leaving the cinema after
- 28:50loving it, Joe asked Marty who he'd want
- 28:53to do the Halo movie. And then he said,
- 28:55"I bet that Golland guy would be all
- 28:57over the flood." Then fast forward a few
- 29:00years. Unfortunately, as we know, the
- 29:01Halo movie never actually happened, but
- 29:04they did get Alex Garland on board for
- 29:06quite a while. I mean, he even wrote a
- 29:08script for the movie. Now, I have
- 29:10already done a video going into Alex
- 29:12Garland's Halo movie script in full
- 29:14detail because the entire thing leaked a
- 29:15few years ago. And of course, link to
- 29:17download that is also down in the
- 29:19description. But the long story short
- 29:21was that his version of a Halo movie was
- 29:24a mostly faithful adaptation of Halo 1's
- 29:27events with some things changed here and
- 29:29there that had an ending that also
- 29:31better fit into Halo 2, which was of
- 29:34course going to be the sequel movie.
- 29:35Now, we are going to revisit this movie
- 29:37way further down the iceberg. But
- 29:39suffice to say, as a lifelong fan of
- 29:41both Alex Garland's work and also 28
- 29:44Days Later, that was like my kind of
- 29:46formative horror movie, I am still to
- 29:49this day heartbroken that that movie
- 29:51never materialized. And also, just real
- 29:54quick, I am still, as of this video
- 29:56going live, trying to get in touch with
- 29:58Alex Garland to get him on a video to
- 30:00talk about his Halo movie and his
- 30:02general involvement with Halo. So, if
- 30:04anybody watching this video happens to
- 30:05be friends with Alex Garland or to know
- 30:07him or maybe even his agent, then please
- 30:10let me know. The official Halo 2 condom.
- 30:13So, as a part of Halo 2's frankly insane
- 30:16marketing, uh Bungie and Xbox
- 30:19commissioned a line of limited edition
- 30:22Halo 2 condoms, actual real Halo 2
- 30:25condoms that even had coming soon
- 30:28written on the back. Now, I've searched
- 30:30high and low to try and find any kind of
- 30:32rationale or backstory behind the
- 30:34creation of these things, who came up
- 30:36with it, why they came up with it. I
- 30:38think at the end of the day, it was just
- 30:40a byproduct of the early 2000s culture.
- 30:42I mean, this is the same era as when a
- 30:45claim ran a marketing campaign for Turok
- 30:47Evolution where if you named your
- 30:49newborn child Turok legally Turo, they'd
- 30:53pay you $10,000. It was the same kind of
- 30:55era as that. That said though, there is
- 30:57a really funny clip of Sketch a few
- 30:59years ago on a 343 social stream, like
- 31:01an official public 343 stream, uh,
- 31:03revealing his condom cuz he worked at
- 31:05Bungie all the way back as far as like I
- 31:08think end of Halo 1 all the way up until
- 31:09Reach. Uh, he had the condom and he
- 31:12pulled it out on stream, which is kind
- 31:14of wild that he did that on like an
- 31:15official 343 stream, but the mad lad
- 31:18actually did it. Bungie ending Halo with
- 31:20Halo 2. So, originally Halo 2 was meant
- 31:23to be the ending of the Halo franchise,
- 31:25or at least Bungie's involvement in the
- 31:27Halo franchise. And in their original
- 31:29ending of both Halo 2 and the franchise,
- 31:32the ark that Guilty Spark refers to at
- 31:34the end of the Halo 2 that we got was in
- 31:37fact the Ark Portal at Voy. That portal
- 31:40facility was just the Ark. The original
- 31:42Halo 2 ended with the Covenant being
- 31:44defeated there at this arc with the
- 31:47Arbiter discovering a foreigner skeleton
- 31:49in a casket at the base of the facility
- 31:51that was identical to a human skeleton.
- 31:54Thus confirming that humans are indeed
- 31:57foreigner and that it would end with a
- 31:59cliffhanger that the flood was still out
- 32:01there and that Cortana was still their
- 32:04prisoner. Now, to say that this was
- 32:05supposedly meant to be the last Halo
- 32:07game that we'd realistically ever get,
- 32:09at least from Bungie, as far as we know,
- 32:11that was it. It's weird that they still
- 32:13plan to end the game on the very same
- 32:15cliffhanger as Halo 2. Also, a few years
- 32:17ago, C3 Saber-Tooth, who is another
- 32:19YouTuber, made a fantastic animation of
- 32:22the official storyboards of this ending,
- 32:24which you've seen on screen, and I've
- 32:26also linked down below in the
- 32:27description. Please go and check them
- 32:29out. They are awesome. Cortana infected
- 32:31with the logic plague. So, this was a
- 32:34possible and in my opinion the best
- 32:36possible explanation for why Cortana
- 32:39turned evil in Halo 5. That was really
- 32:41popular back in the day when Halo 5 came
- 32:43out and was actually the theory that I
- 32:46kind of built my channel on. A lot of my
- 32:48early lore flood theory videos were all
- 32:51centered around Cortana being infected
- 32:54and what that would mean for the future.
- 32:56Basically, the theory posits that the
- 32:57reason that Cortana was evil in Halo 5
- 32:59was because the insane amount of damage
- 33:01that the graveman did to her between
- 33:03Halo 2 and Halo 3 not only forever
- 33:06altered her, but also planted the seeds
- 33:08for the logic plague. Now, we'll come to
- 33:10what the logic plague is later on. I'm
- 33:12sure many of you watching already know
- 33:14what it is, but if you don't, it's
- 33:16essentially the way that the flood in
- 33:17effect and or corrupt non-biological
- 33:20sentient or even non-scentient beings
- 33:22like computers or AIs. Now, I very
- 33:25rarely do this, but I'm gonna take my
- 33:27flowers here, okay? I'm gonna I'm gonna
- 33:28take my flowers because I was the main
- 33:30person talking about this theory and
- 33:31pushing it back in the day. Like, I made
- 33:33so many videos about it, and still to
- 33:35this day, I think that it's the most
- 33:37rational, logical, and interesting
- 33:39explanation for why she is the way that
- 33:42she is in Halo 5. It was the best way to
- 33:44take that absurdly stupid plot decision.
- 33:47But as we all know, they didn't go down
- 33:49the logic plague route and instead they
- 33:51went down an incredibly boring route
- 33:54instead. Not going to lie, still kind of
- 33:56pissed off about that. They should have
- 33:57done the logic plague. The mantle of
- 33:59responsibility. The mantle is one of the
- 34:02most important elements of Halo's law.
- 34:04It's a philosophical role that began
- 34:06with the precursors that is figuratively
- 34:08held by the dominant species in the
- 34:11galaxy. It's a mantle of care and
- 34:13stewardship over all of the weaker
- 34:14species of the galaxy that dictates that
- 34:16those who hold it must care for all life
- 34:19in the galaxy, but also must allow them
- 34:22to exist as they wish. For example,
- 34:24those who hold the mantle are able to
- 34:26let lower species war with one another.
- 34:29But to launch a full-scale assault
- 34:31against a lesser species themselves,
- 34:33entirely unprovoked, would be a grave
- 34:35violation of said mantle. So you can let
- 34:37them all fight. That's perfectly fine
- 34:39and that's natural. But you can't all of
- 34:40a sudden go bending the mantle and
- 34:42annihilating species under your control
- 34:44and under your guidance for no reason at
- 34:46all. When the DAT composed the innocent
- 34:49humans to create the Prometheians, Matt
- 34:51was seen as one of the foreigners many
- 34:53violations of the mantle. There were
- 34:55even debates about whether the halos
- 34:57were grave violation of the mantle as
- 34:58well, which by the way, the halos I
- 35:00would say were definitely a violation of
- 35:02the mantle, but a necessary violation.
- 35:05When the precursors looked to pass the
- 35:07mantle down to one of their child
- 35:09species, they chose humanity over the
- 35:11foreigners, which caused the foreigners
- 35:13to lash out and exterminate their
- 35:14creators in an act of rage and denial.
- 35:17Ironically, another violation of the
- 35:19mantle, and thus proving why the
- 35:22precursors thought that it should go to
- 35:23humans over them. CS:GO. So, when MCC
- 35:27came to PC in 2019, there was an
- 35:29official collaboration with
- 35:30Counterstrike: Global Offensive. And as
- 35:33a near lifelong massive Counter-Strike
- 35:36fan, this collaboration was genuinely
- 35:38like a dream come true for me. Unboxing
- 35:41sticker packs and putting loads of Halo
- 35:42stickers on my guns or having a vinyl
- 35:44that plays Halo 2's soundtrack when I
- 35:47went around or in the lobby was
- 35:49literally a dream come true. I still
- 35:51have all my stickers and I refuse to put
- 35:53them on any gun besides I think I put a
- 35:54Noble Team sticker on my USPS and that
- 35:57was it. I'm telling you, these stickers,
- 35:59these bad boys right here, these are
- 36:00going to buy me a Porsche one day. Trust
- 36:02me.
- 36:11>> Counterterrorists win.
- 36:18>> Fortune. Now, this one is a real Hood
- 36:22classic. So, in Halo 1, if you make your
- 36:24account profile the name fortune, you'll
- 36:27get a random fortune cookie style
- 36:29message. And what's weird is that doing
- 36:32this is one of my earliest earliest Halo
- 36:35memories. And I have no idea how I found
- 36:37it out because I got Halo in 2002 and we
- 36:40didn't really have well at least I
- 36:42didn't have internet that I could really
- 36:44access until like 2005 maybe. You know,
- 36:47if I ever get a time machine, I'm going
- 36:48to go back in time first and foremost
- 36:50and figure out how I found out about
- 36:52this before using the internet. Fortune
- 36:54Easter eggs also exist in Halo 3 and
- 36:56Halo Reach as well, but you get the same
- 36:58message every time. My modem is on fire.
- 37:02Also, to my surprise, Fortune is
- 37:04actually carried forward into MCC as
- 37:06well. It works in MCC, which I did not
- 37:08expect.
- 37:10As file now, this is quite possibly one
- 37:13of the most legendary things that Bungie
- 37:15ever did. So, when creating Halo 2
- 37:18Vista, Bungie hid a picture of developer
- 37:20Charlie Goff's ass in the files as an
- 37:23error when a file with the extension of.
- 37:26Assass caused a crash. The source of
- 37:28this image is rather funny. So, at that
- 37:30point, the then CEO of Microsoft, Steve
- 37:33Balmer, came to do a tour of Bungie
- 37:35Studios, and somebody dared Charlie to
- 37:37moon him. And when he did, that
- 37:39legendary picture was created. So, yeah,
- 37:41that's Charlie mooning the CEO of
- 37:45Microsoft. Now, of course, they expected
- 37:47nobody to ever find this image. They
- 37:49thought that it would just be buried in
- 37:50the files, never to be found again, but
- 37:53people did find it. And the problem is
- 37:55that Halo 2 didn't have a rating for
- 37:57nudity, which it technically should have
- 38:00had because it had a picture of an ass
- 38:02cheek in it. And so this caused a
- 38:04massive firestorm between Bungie and the
- 38:05ESRB who rate games and led to Microsoft
- 38:08being fined half a million dollars, led
- 38:11to them also having to fire a number of
- 38:14employees and even almost caused the
- 38:16ESRB to file a lawsuit against Microsoft
- 38:20for it. Pretty legendary and cataclysmic
- 38:23mooning, I'd say, as far as mooning
- 38:25goes. Halo Chronicles. So this game is
- 38:29absolutely insane. A few weeks ago, I
- 38:31made a dedicated video about it that
- 38:33didn't do very well, and that really
- 38:34pissed me off. So, go and watch it once
- 38:35you're finished with this video. But the
- 38:37long story short is that Halo Chronicles
- 38:40was a Halo game that was made in
- 38:41collaboration between Joe Stton and a
- 38:44few other bunch developers and Peter
- 38:46Jackson in concordance with his Halo
- 38:49movie. Oh, and just random fun tangent.
- 38:51Uh Peter Jackson, it was announced a few
- 38:53weeks ago he's trying to currently
- 38:56resurrect the mower in real life. dude
- 38:59is literally a diehard Halo fan and he's
- 39:01willing to bring the mower back to prove
- 39:03it. So, in Chronicles, you start out the
- 39:05game as a marine, but the more alien
- 39:08technology, so likely foreign technology
- 39:10that you find, your arm would begin to
- 39:13morph into the arm of a Prometheian, and
- 39:15eventually your entire body would morph
- 39:18into that of a Prometheian. The game had
- 39:20some absolutely insane gameplay
- 39:22mechanics, ranging from a more grounded
- 39:24style of gameplay when you're playing as
- 39:25the marine to flying in low orbit and
- 39:28fighting Covenant cruisers with the
- 39:30ability to turn yourself into a missile
- 39:33and target specific parts of the ships
- 39:35when you became the Prometheian. Of
- 39:37course though, the game was cancelled.
- 39:39And when it was, Joe Stton, Paul Baton,
- 39:41and Mike Woo, who were the lead
- 39:42developers on it, took the grounded
- 39:44style of gameplay that they'd made for
- 39:45the Marines and applied that to Halo 3
- 39:48ODST, which was literally made from the
- 39:51ruins of Halo Chronicles. But those
- 39:53ruins were also repurposed for something
- 39:55else as well, which we're going to come
- 39:56to soon, the Halo MMO. So around a
- 40:00similar era, Ensemble Studios, who made
- 40:02Age of Empires and would later make Halo
- 40:04Wars, and long may they rest in peace,
- 40:06were also working on a project called
- 40:09Halo Titan, which was going to be a Halo
- 40:12MMO. And the art for this thing is
- 40:15[ __ ] ridiculous, to put it lightly.
- 40:18Some of the art looks relatively normal,
- 40:20actually. Really cool to be honest. It'd
- 40:21be very in line with like post Halo 2
- 40:23Halo aesthetics. And then there are the
- 40:26scions, the robes, the hardlight
- 40:29machetes, demons, and god knows what
- 40:32else. The art for this thing completely
- 40:35jumped the shark. As for the game play,
- 40:37it was more of a World of Warcraft style
- 40:39MMO than like a Runescape style MMO,
- 40:41which is my absolute like my god, that
- 40:44game is the crutch of my existence. I've
- 40:46been playing it for 21 years and I
- 40:47showed no signs of stopping. So, I
- 40:49probably wouldn't have been all that
- 40:50interested in this game. Uh,
- 40:52unfortunately there's no actual gameplay
- 40:54footage of it out there, but trust me,
- 40:56if any ever leaks, then I will be
- 40:57covering it first and foremost. So, if
- 40:59you aren't subbed yet, make sure you
- 41:01subbed in case that eventuality ever
- 41:03comes to pass. Of course, though, once
- 41:04Titan was cancelled, Ensemble Studios
- 41:06went on to making Halo Wars before being
- 41:09shut down a month before the game
- 41:12released by Microsoft, which is really
- 41:14scummy. Yet another reason to hate
- 41:16Microsoft. I Love Bees. So, Isle of Bees
- 41:19was Halo 2's incredibly famous ARG
- 41:22marketing campaign that involved the
- 41:24story of an AI being sent from the Halo
- 41:27universe back to our modern day, which
- 41:29at the time was 2004, that involve
- 41:32players going around doing loads of
- 41:33weird stuff in real life to solve it and
- 41:36to get the next steps. It was first
- 41:37teased in the Halo 2 announcement video
- 41:39with a link to isofbees.com flickering
- 41:42on screen which led to a beekeeping
- 41:44website that acted as the surface of the
- 41:47the iceberg shall we say that was the
- 41:50story of I love bees and funnily enough
- 41:52among the cast of actors who were in
- 41:54Isle of Bees was weirdly Ramy Malik. So
- 41:58yes Elliot Alderson from Mr. Robot or
- 42:01Freddy Mercury from the the queen biopic
- 42:03a few years ago. Yep. The first like
- 42:05major thing as far as I'm aware that he
- 42:07was in was Halo, but not a Halo game or
- 42:10a Halo movie or a Halo commercial. He
- 42:12was in I love bees, which is quite
- 42:14insane. I have walked among men and
- 42:17angels for 3,000 years. Now, this refers
- 42:20to the reverse speech that's hidden in
- 42:22the destroyer's invocation section of
- 42:25Mausoleum Suite from Halo 2 soundtrack.
- 42:27And for years, people believed that this
- 42:29speech belonged to Mendic and Bias. But
- 42:32recently, Marty confirmed that that
- 42:34wasn't the case. So then we start to
- 42:37think that it might be a cryptic
- 42:38retelling of the biblical story of Cain
- 42:40and Abel, given that a lot of the lines
- 42:42in Destroyers Invocation aligned almost
- 42:45perfectly with Cain and Abel. But again,
- 42:48Marty confirmed that that wasn't the
- 42:49case either in a comment that read, "I
- 42:52love you all. I've talked about
- 42:54Professor Moriati and who buried Paul
- 42:57once before. The key is the creators."
- 43:00which is a reference to a famous talk
- 43:02given by Professor Brian Moriati in 1999
- 43:06about a semi- well-known conspiracy
- 43:08theory that Paul McCartney actually died
- 43:10in 1967 and that the Beatles hid tons of
- 43:14hints towards that in all of their
- 43:16future songs. Now, as far as we know,
- 43:18that theory is not actually true. Or so
- 43:20we think. But the idea with the talk and
- 43:23also with the theory is that it's meant
- 43:24to illustrate how from even the smallest
- 43:27of details, fans will create stories
- 43:29that just take on a life of their own.
- 43:31But the key is the creators is the only
- 43:33real hint that Marty gave in that
- 43:35comment. And then in another comment, he
- 43:37asks, "Who are the creators? What was
- 43:40their purpose? What did they create? Did
- 43:43they succeed?" All incredibly cryptic
- 43:45and frankly leaves us with more
- 43:47questions than answers. The true meaning
- 43:49of all of these words remains entirely
- 43:52unknown. All meaning aside though, how
- 43:54these words sound and also the words
- 43:57themselves are pretty creepy, especially
- 43:59given how broad and sweeping they are,
- 44:02and also the point in Halo's timeline in
- 44:04which they were released. Back then, we
- 44:06had no idea who this entity could ever
- 44:09be, nor who or what they were actually
- 44:12alluding to. Buying 343 pizza. So, when
- 44:16343 were initially teasing MCC coming to
- 44:19PC, which by the way was like one of the
- 44:21biggest deals in the history of the
- 44:22entire franchise if you weren't there,
- 44:24some guy on Reddit said that if it was
- 44:26announced, he'd buy pizza for the first
- 44:28few3 employee who commented on his post.
- 44:31And Sketch actually did. At this time,
- 44:34the idea of Halo coming to PC just
- 44:36seemed like a ridiculous pipe dream. But
- 44:39here was Sketch commenting on that post.
- 44:41Then on the day that the announcement
- 44:43was rumored to be made, Sketch tweeted a
- 44:46pizza emoji which sent fans absolutely
- 44:49ballistic. And then when the game was
- 44:51announced, we all followed through.
- 44:53Because Halo coming to Steam was such a
- 44:56pipe dream for so long, we quite
- 44:58literally bombarded 343 Studio with
- 45:01pizzas. So much so that they actually
- 45:03had to tweet out telling people to stop
- 45:05sending pizza because they've received
- 45:07too much. I still remember that night so
- 45:10well. We actually managed to crash
- 45:12Little Caesar's website by bombarding it
- 45:14with so many orders, like legitimate
- 45:17traffic and legitimate orders to send to
- 45:18343's offices. Man, that was a that was
- 45:21a legendary moment. Next time you see
- 45:23someone try and argue that the fans
- 45:25never gave 343 a chance or something
- 45:27along those lines, just remind them of
- 45:28the pizza innocent cuz it's like one of
- 45:31the most wholesome things I think I've
- 45:33ever seen come out of Halo ever. And it
- 45:35really proves that Halo fans aren't this
- 45:38ridiculously unsatisfiable group of
- 45:40people who would just hate on everything
- 45:42that 343 or Halo Studios do. The Daidact
- 45:46dies in a comic. So yeah, the Daidact
- 45:48didn't actually die at the end of Halo
- 45:504. He was in fact teleported to
- 45:52installation 03 Gamma Halo where he had
- 45:55another face off with Chief and Blue
- 45:57Team this time before being composed
- 46:00despite the fact that it was explicitly
- 46:02stated that the die can't be composed.
- 46:04who's immune to the composer, but they
- 46:07just hit him with like five composers at
- 46:08once, which apparently overrided that
- 46:10immunity. So, yay. Thankfully, they semi
- 46:15not recon, but changed the ending of
- 46:17this and kind of nullified it a little
- 46:18bit by having the died come back in Halo
- 46:20Epitap, which was a great sendoff for
- 46:23his story about his passage into into
- 46:25the domain. But, man, like the died for
- 46:28me remains probably the most wasted
- 46:30character in all of Halo's law. Killing
- 46:32him at the end of Halo 4 was stupid.
- 46:34Killing him in a comic was even dumber.
- 46:37At least epitap was good. Cloaked Master
- 46:40Chief. In the now iconic teaser for Halo
- 46:445, Master Chief walks through the desert
- 46:46of what appears to be the Ark in a
- 46:48cloak, giving him one of his coolest
- 46:51looks ever. This look then reappeared in
- 46:54loads of Halo 5 concept art depicting a
- 46:57much darker, much more clandestine story
- 46:59than the obvious garbage that we ended
- 47:02up getting. I truly hope that we can get
- 47:05this kind of punished chief look for a
- 47:07game in the future. I mean, if Halo
- 47:09Studios can resurrect the zombie died
- 47:11Halo 5 concept for a book, then my god,
- 47:14they can resurrect cloaked punish. Just
- 47:16please, okay, please, for the love of
- 47:18God, if you're going to do that, Halo
- 47:19Studios, don't do it for a book. Do it
- 47:22in a game for the love of God. Stop
- 47:24doing cool [ __ ] in books instead of
- 47:25games. The Noble 14. At midnight on
- 47:29April 15th, 2010, Microsoft officially
- 47:32shut down the servers for Halo 2. And
- 47:34the Noble 14 denotes the 14 individuals
- 47:37who were the last to stay online beyond
- 47:40the servers going offline. As long as
- 47:42people remained signed in, they could
- 47:43still matchmake. So loads of people
- 47:46stayed online for as long as possible.
- 47:48And the Noble 14 were the ones who held
- 47:50out the longest with the king of the
- 47:52Noble 14 being Apache Nazir who managed
- 47:56to stay online for almost an entire
- 47:59month finally being booted offline at
- 48:011:58 a.m. on May 11th. Almost an entire
- 48:05month after the servers were originally
- 48:07turned off. For almost 24 hours, Apache
- 48:10Nazir was the last person on planet
- 48:13Earth to be signed in to Halo 2, which
- 48:16you know, when you think about it, has a
- 48:18kind of weird liinal sensation to it.
- 48:21Humans are Prometheians. To create the
- 48:23Prometheians, the Daiduct needed the
- 48:25composed essence of a biological being.
- 48:27Initially, he composed his own
- 48:29Prometheian warrior servants, hence why
- 48:31they're called the Prometheians. But as
- 48:33the flood's consumption of foreigner
- 48:35space only ever got faster and more
- 48:37aggressive, more drastic measures were
- 48:39taken. He took his composer to Omega
- 48:41Halo and composed every innocent
- 48:44prehistoric human that the librarian had
- 48:46safely kept there to create an army of
- 48:49Prometheians. And even still, the
- 48:51parasite proved too strong. The Janus
- 48:54key. The Janus key was a core part of
- 48:56the story of Spartanops and Halo
- 48:58escalation. And it was basically this
- 49:00foreign artifact that was made up of two
- 49:02parts. And when you combine the two
- 49:04parts, it revealed the location of every
- 49:06single foreign artifact in the galaxy.
- 49:08So basically a luminary on steroids. Its
- 49:12design was also based on this bit of the
- 49:14mantle of responsibility logo as well,
- 49:16which it fits perfectly in with, which
- 49:18by the way was absolutely not a
- 49:19coincidence. Drone sniper. So, the
- 49:22drones were originally concepted for
- 49:24Halo 4, and among many cool ideas that
- 49:26they had for them, including a drone
- 49:28queen boss fight, they also ideated the
- 49:32drone sniper. 343 obviously wanted to
- 49:35find a way to one up Halo 2's jackal
- 49:37snipers, but I think it's best for our
- 49:40sanity that that never happened. A
- 49:43fistful of arrows. A fistful of arrows
- 49:46is of course June's face tattoo, but it
- 49:48also refers to a fan story that was
- 49:50written by Levi Hoffmeer in October 2010
- 49:53depicting June's story on Reach directly
- 49:56after he departs Noble. It begins as he
- 49:58leaves Noble Team with Hoy and follows
- 50:00his escort journey with her to Castle
- 50:02Base and then ends with him disappearing
- 50:04into the fog of Reach. Not only is the
- 50:07story and the art absolutely incredible,
- 50:11but it's also kind of seen as like half
- 50:14canon by both Bungie and Halo Studios.
- 50:17It's not fully official cannon, but at
- 50:19one point it was in the process of being
- 50:21officially canonized, which ended up not
- 50:23happening, and now it's kind of stuck in
- 50:25cannon limbo. Levi is an awesome artist,
- 50:28though, and he actually did very
- 50:29recently do some incredible art for Halo
- 50:32officially in the encyclopedia. He did a
- 50:35load of the art for offensive bias which
- 50:38I absolutely love. So hopefully this
- 50:40connection allows them to actually
- 50:42canonize fistful of arrows at some point
- 50:44in the future. Link to go and read it is
- 50:46down in the description. 241 penitent
- 50:49tangent on backwash implication. So
- 50:52floating around backwash is Delta Halo's
- 50:54rampant monitor 241 penitent tangent.
- 50:57But given that it's highly likely that
- 50:59backwash is located above cold storage,
- 51:02which was the source of Delta Halo's
- 51:04aggressive flood outbreak, you could
- 51:06infer that something down there, that
- 51:09something being the gravemind, corrupted
- 51:11Tangent and is the reason that the flood
- 51:13was able to fester for so long. Just a
- 51:15theory though, there's no hard cannon
- 51:17for that. Microsoft Sam.
- 51:20>> Microsoft Sam is the legendary Microsoft
- 51:22texttospech voice that was used to voice
- 51:25Chief in RBN. the chief.
- 51:27>> What the hell was that?
- 51:28>> One kickass wedding.
- 51:31>> I can't believe you.
- 51:32>> That was some funny ass [ __ ]
- 51:37>> You know that actually was kind of
- 51:39funny.
- 51:42>> You want to do it again?
- 51:43>> Damn right, son. And as a result, lost
- 51:46present in a billion different Halo
- 51:48videos back in the day. Bungie even hid
- 51:51a Microsoft Sam Easter egg in Halo 3.
- 51:55JNC ball totally fired.
- 51:58>> The Halo 3 terminals. The terminals of
- 52:01Halo 3 are secret foreigner terminals
- 52:03that you find on the Ark, the Covenant,
- 52:05and Halo that tell a litany of stories
- 52:08from battle reports of the foreigner's
- 52:10war with the flood to tales of certain
- 52:12individuals either fighting the war or
- 52:15trying to prepare for the firing of the
- 52:16Halos. But my favorite is Mendicant
- 52:19Bias's story of corruption, salvation,
- 52:22and interference in Chief's Journey.
- 52:25Both the stories of the terminals, but
- 52:27also how those stories are told, really
- 52:30scratch that kind of grand conspiracy
- 52:33beyond the veil itch that I always yearn
- 52:35for with stories. A little detail that I
- 52:37love when you're scrolling through the
- 52:39terminals, these ancient advanced
- 52:41constructs, is that for how sci-fi they
- 52:43look, they still make mechanical sounds
- 52:46like modern or even old computers, which
- 52:49in a weird way really grounds them.
- 53:03Something about these terminals always
- 53:04reminded me of Lost. Finding these
- 53:07ancient terminals at this distant
- 53:09ancient mysterious location left by our
- 53:12ancestors and containing countless
- 53:14strange data entries about what happened
- 53:17here with our ancestors feels so similar
- 53:20to finding the hatch and discovering all
- 53:22of the old technology within. If you
- 53:24don't know, Lost is like a core part of
- 53:26my kind of interest in any sort of
- 53:29storytelling or fiction. and it's where
- 53:30I get a lot of my interest and
- 53:31conspiracy theories from. And Halo 3's
- 53:34terminals just feel so lost coded to me,
- 53:36which makes me love them even more. Last
- 53:39year, I made what, at least I think is a
- 53:41really good and really immersive video
- 53:42going through the story of all of the
- 53:44terminals. So, definitely go and check
- 53:46that bad boy out. Link down below. The
- 53:48Rookiey's real name. In the newest Halo
- 53:50Encyclopedia, which released in 2022, it
- 53:53was revealed that the Rookiey's actual
- 53:55name is John Docky. Now, I despise the
- 53:59fact that they killed the rookie off in
- 54:00a book, but I will say this name for the
- 54:03rookie is actually perfect. John Doerty
- 54:06is like an extension of John Doe, which
- 54:08is of course the placeholder name that
- 54:09you give someone whose name that you
- 54:11don't know, which fits really well with
- 54:13him being the silent protagonist that
- 54:15the player is meant to implant their own
- 54:16personality onto. Coloring book confirms
- 54:19the died act is alive. Yep, the name of
- 54:22this one kind of just says it all. It's
- 54:24not a joke. This actually happened. So,
- 54:26in 2017, F43 released a Halo adult
- 54:29coloring book with a page dedicated to
- 54:31the Died Act that had some law that
- 54:33suggested following Halo Escalation, the
- 54:36Died Act was trapped within the domain,
- 54:38which was a plot thread that wouldn't be
- 54:40picked up again for another 7 years
- 54:41until Halo Epitap. Pretty stupid way to
- 54:45reveal such a major plot detail, to be
- 54:47honest. Map law. This refers to what I
- 54:50think is the often rather slept on law
- 54:52for multiplayer maps. So multiplayer
- 54:55maps that you've played hundreds,
- 54:57thousands, maybe even tens of thousands
- 54:59of times have really cool backstories to
- 55:01them to to really ground and and cement
- 55:04the locations that you're actually
- 55:05playing on. Such as cold storage is
- 55:08where the outbreak on Delta Halo that
- 55:10led to the creation of the first grave
- 55:12mind in a 100,000 years began. Epitap is
- 55:16essentially the headstone above the
- 55:17burial site of mendic bias, the AI
- 55:20responsible for the foreigner's firing
- 55:22of the halos after he sided with the
- 55:24flood. Sand trap is home to a mysterious
- 55:27and potentially rather creepy secret
- 55:30buried beneath its sands and so on. A
- 55:33few years ago, I actually made I thought
- 55:35a really good video series going into
- 55:37the lore behind all of the maps in Halo
- 55:391 through to Halo 4. So definitely check
- 55:41that bad boy out. Monitor's Garland.
- 55:45This was some kind of artifact that was
- 55:46present in a very early version of Halo
- 55:492's script. It was something obviously
- 55:50pertaining to the monitor to Guilty
- 55:52Spark that the Arbiter would seize from
- 55:55him when he was in the presence of
- 55:56Tartarus as well. So I assume the end of
- 55:59the Oracle. Now a Golland in real life
- 56:02is a decorative breed of some kind. So I
- 56:05guess the Montis Garland was like a
- 56:07foreigner equivalent of that. Who knows?
- 56:10The gargoyle. Infamously hidden within
- 56:13the foreign aspire on the creepy Halo 2
- 56:15map backwash is a gargoyle. Although
- 56:18it's actually not a gargoyle.
- 56:20Technically, this is a grotesque because
- 56:22for it to be a gargoyle, it has to have
- 56:24water flowing through it, which this
- 56:25doesn't. Either way, I always take this
- 56:28as a little subtle hint that foreigners
- 56:30secretly loved medieval Gothic
- 56:31architecture. A pipe dream of mine is to
- 56:34see a crossover between the foreigner's
- 56:36typical brutalist architecture and that
- 56:38medieval gothic style of architecture. A
- 56:41guy can dream. Linda hidden in Halo 1.
- 56:44So at the end of the fall of Reach,
- 56:46Linda is gravely wounded by a plasma
- 56:48pistol bolt to the chest. But instead of
- 56:50calling her dead, even though her vitals
- 56:52were essentially flatlined, they said
- 56:54that she was MIA and put her in a cryo
- 56:56tube on the autumn besides Chief that
- 56:58was bound for obviously Alpha Halo. The
- 57:01idea was that in Cryo she'd be suspended
- 57:03so she wouldn't fully die and that she'd
- 57:05be able to stay in that until they found
- 57:07some kind of medical assistance to
- 57:09hopefully revive her and save her. But
- 57:11when the Covenant board of the autumn in
- 57:13Halo 1, her cryopod was ejected into
- 57:15space and she wasn't picked up again
- 57:17until the end of Halo 1/
- 57:21in Halo 1 Anniversary 343 hid a nice
- 57:24little Easter egg to that on this board
- 57:26near the cryo room. You can see next to
- 57:28Chief Pod, there's a section for Linda,
- 57:30who is red because she's been ejected
- 57:32from the ship. Hopefully in the Halo 1
- 57:34remake that should be coming out next
- 57:35year, we can actually see Linda in the
- 57:38autumn and also see her get ejected.
- 57:40That would be one of those little
- 57:41details that'd be really cool to add to
- 57:43bring Halo 1 more in line with the
- 57:45books. Just think about that. 343 or
- 57:48Halo Studios. Shadow of Intent. This of
- 57:51course refers to two separate things.
- 57:53Number one, Artasum Ship, which is also
- 57:56the flagship of the Swords of San Helios
- 57:58fleet, or primarily for today, a really
- 58:00cool band whose name is based on the
- 58:02iconic ship, and whose first two albums
- 58:05are both named after Halo entities,
- 58:08Primordial and Reclaimer, on which the
- 58:11songs are named and inspired by elements
- 58:14of Halo's lore, specifically the
- 58:16foreigner trilogy. This isn't the last
- 58:18band we're going to be talking about
- 58:20today, but Shadow Intent are an awesome
- 58:22band with an even more awesome source of
- 58:24inspiration. True OG's Firefly and
- 58:27Serenity. And finally, for tier three,
- 58:30we have the show Firefly and the movie
- 58:32Serenity, of which Bungie were huge fans
- 58:35of because not only are the movie and TV
- 58:38show referenced on mass by marine
- 58:40dialogue in the original trilogy, but
- 58:42also about 60% of Alpha 9 were played by
- 58:46lead actors of the show and the movie.
- 58:49Book is of course played by Nathan
- 58:51Fillian, who was the lead in Firefly and
- 58:53Serenity, Captain Malcolm Reynolds.
- 58:56Mickey is played by Alan Tudik who
- 58:58played Wash in Firefly. And Dutch was
- 59:00played by Adam Baldwin, who played Jane
- 59:02Cobb in also Firefly and Serenity as
- 59:05well. Firefly is really worth a watch.
- 59:07It's a really good early 2000 space
- 59:09western with heavy cowboy botbot vibes
- 59:12that follows a bunch of renegades
- 59:13getting into trouble across the galaxy.
- 59:16Highly worth watching, especially if you
- 59:18love Halo.
- 59:20So, kicking off tier 4, we have District
- 59:239. And although this of course isn't a
- 59:25Halo movie, it has deep ties to Halo.
- 59:28District 9 is a really grounded sci-fi
- 59:30movie by Neil Blumamp based around an
- 59:33alien invasion/settlement on Earth where
- 59:36very long story short, the main
- 59:38protagonist ends up slowly morphing into
- 59:40one of the aliens, growing a prawn arm,
- 59:43as they're called, and becoming more
- 59:45sympathetic towards them in the process.
- 59:47Now, I'm a massive Neil Blomcam fan and
- 59:50I love District 9. But the reason that I
- 59:52and every other Halo fan loves this
- 59:54movie isn't just because of that, but
- 59:56rather it's because it was made from the
- 59:58ruins of Neil and Peter Jackson's Halo
- 1:00:01movie. There are some Halo crossovers,
- 1:00:03like for example, the Denell NTW20,
- 1:00:06uh, which is the sniper rifle that
- 1:00:07inspired Halo, is used in the movie,
- 1:00:09although to be fair, that is the South
- 1:00:11African military sniper rifle, which is
- 1:00:13where the movie shot, so could be why.
- 1:00:15But the main inspiration was the story.
- 1:00:18Of course, the story is about the
- 1:00:20character Vikas and his arm becoming a
- 1:00:22prawn arm after he interacts with some
- 1:00:24prawn tech. And what was the story of
- 1:00:26Halo Chronicles that Peter Jackson and
- 1:00:28Joe State were working on? Yep, it was
- 1:00:30the story of a marine who finds foreign
- 1:00:33attack and his arm slowly morphs into a
- 1:00:35Prometheian arm before his entire body
- 1:00:38becomes a Prometheian just like Vikas
- 1:00:40becoming a prawn. Apparently, as well,
- 1:00:42Marty said that Joe Stan has trouble
- 1:00:44watching this movie because so much of
- 1:00:46it is repurposed from the game that he
- 1:00:48was working on, which, yeah, I
- 1:00:49understand Ellesium. But Neil Blumamp's
- 1:00:53Halo references didn't stop with
- 1:00:54District 9. His next movie was Ellesium,
- 1:00:57led by Matt Demon and Jodie Foster,
- 1:01:00which released in 2013, 4 years after
- 1:01:02District 9, and featured a literal halo
- 1:01:06ring in the final act. The idea was that
- 1:01:08this ring was a habit for the elite and
- 1:01:10the powerful to escape the slums of
- 1:01:13Earth. But I mean, it was literally it
- 1:01:15was literally a Halo ring. Look at it.
- 1:01:16It's a Halo ring. It's very clear that
- 1:01:18Neil Blumamp was and still is a Halo
- 1:01:21fan. And given that his main book of
- 1:01:23like actual released Halo work was Halo
- 1:01:26Landfall, which is still the best
- 1:01:28liveaction Halo of all time, why haven't
- 1:01:32Halo Studios handed him the keys to a
- 1:01:34Halo show or movie yet? It is just the
- 1:01:37way they work over there directing stuff
- 1:01:39like that is beyond parody. But I'm
- 1:01:42going to I'm going to tear myself down
- 1:01:44and move on to the next entry. The
- 1:01:45Cortana letters. The Cortana letters are
- 1:01:48the oldest piece of Halo law in
- 1:01:50existence. Created before anyone even
- 1:01:53knew who or what Cortana was. They were
- 1:01:56strings of egotistical rants from a
- 1:01:59clearly rampant AI that were written in
- 1:02:01the style of Durand Doll's rampy induced
- 1:02:04through ego-driven rants in Marathon and
- 1:02:06emailed to users of marathon.org
- 1:02:09in February 1999.
- 1:02:12I've done an entire video breaking down
- 1:02:14the letters in extensive detail. Link in
- 1:02:16the description. But just know that in
- 1:02:19on their own, the letters aren't canon,
- 1:02:22but they are canon whenever they're
- 1:02:24reused. And they've basically all been
- 1:02:26reused now in various bits of Halo lore
- 1:02:28from Halo 3 to Halo Infinite and Halo
- 1:02:31Epitap. So, they're almost entirely
- 1:02:33cannon now, but in their context of how
- 1:02:35they were used in Halo, not altogether.
- 1:02:38Either way, they're a really cool window
- 1:02:40into an ultimate version of Halo story
- 1:02:42where Bungie were going to have Cortana
- 1:02:44go down the metastable route of rampency
- 1:02:46in Halo 1, which by the way, no, is not
- 1:02:49the same kind of rampency that she had
- 1:02:51in Halo 4 and Halo 5. That's completely
- 1:02:53different. And if anything is a
- 1:02:55misinterpretation of what rampency
- 1:02:57means, but that's a whole different
- 1:02:58topic for a whole different day. Humans
- 1:03:01are foreigner. This one is very
- 1:03:03straightforward. It refers to the fact
- 1:03:05that during the entirety of Bungie's
- 1:03:07tenure with Halo and also the beginning
- 1:03:09of 343's tenure, humans were Foreigner.
- 1:03:13But when the Foreigner Trilogy and Halo
- 1:03:154 released, this was recconed to humans
- 1:03:17being an entirely different species
- 1:03:19called the Ancient Humans, who were the
- 1:03:21Foreigner rivals. But it was also said
- 1:03:23that the Foreigners and the Ancient
- 1:03:25Humans came from the same population
- 1:03:27billions of years ago. So they were
- 1:03:30still related, just way further down the
- 1:03:33line. and it did damage a lot of the
- 1:03:35original story or a lot of the
- 1:03:36implications in the original story. Some
- 1:03:39people like to dispute the fact that
- 1:03:40humans were foreigners and there's loads
- 1:03:42of excuses people make up for it, but at
- 1:03:43the end of the day, it's just not the
- 1:03:44case. Like, you do some actual research
- 1:03:46like I did for a video last year into
- 1:03:48this topic and you really look at all
- 1:03:50the implications and the hints that
- 1:03:52Bungie are putting out in their stories
- 1:03:54and it's very obvious that the humans
- 1:03:56were literally foreigner. This the video
- 1:03:58that I made last year, I think
- 1:04:00personally is the best video that I've
- 1:04:01ever made. I was really happy with it.
- 1:04:03So, if you're interested in this topic,
- 1:04:05I'd suggest going and watching that
- 1:04:06video linked down below. But either way,
- 1:04:08whatever your interpretation of this
- 1:04:09whole thing is, it's a really
- 1:04:11fascinating topic to dive into. My
- 1:04:13Chemical Romance Halo 3. So, among many
- 1:04:16bands of the early naughties, Halo and
- 1:04:18My Chemical Romance are just
- 1:04:20intrinsically linked. There are a
- 1:04:22billion and one 240p Halo 3 montages to
- 1:04:25Black Parade or Helena, but this entry
- 1:04:28actually goes far deeper than that. It
- 1:04:30refers to a video that unfortunately I
- 1:04:33cannot for the life of me find that was
- 1:04:36on MCR's channel like even a year ago
- 1:04:38that must have been deleted or something
- 1:04:40of the four of them playing Halo 3 split
- 1:04:43screen. I remember specifically on high
- 1:04:45ground backstage during the Black Parade
- 1:04:48tour. From what I remember, they were
- 1:04:50even in the Black Parade clothes. This
- 1:04:52right here is the closest video that I
- 1:04:54could find to this video that I'm
- 1:04:55actually talking about with Frank Lero
- 1:04:57unboxing an original Xbox, which must
- 1:04:59have been in like 2004 during the Sweet
- 1:05:02Revenge tour. And man, if this video
- 1:05:04isn't peak 2004, then I don't know what
- 1:05:07is. I really hope that video is not lost
- 1:05:09media. So, if you happen to know where
- 1:05:11it is, then let me know. Nova. Nova, or
- 1:05:14Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance, is a
- 1:05:17certified Halo classic. This thing was
- 1:05:20the mobile FPS game back in like 2009
- 1:05:242010. And clearly it was very heavily
- 1:05:26inspired by Halo. So much so that
- 1:05:28everyone just called it a Halo ripoff,
- 1:05:30even though it kind of wasn't. For the
- 1:05:32most part, it looked like a mobile FPS
- 1:05:34at the time. But, you know, it was
- 1:05:36actually quite impressive that something
- 1:05:38like this could run on a mobile phone
- 1:05:41and was complete with a campaign, but
- 1:05:43also internet and Bluetooth supported
- 1:05:46multiplayer as well. Nova was actually a
- 1:05:48really big game as well. I didn't
- 1:05:50realize how successful it was until I
- 1:05:52did research for this video. And I mean,
- 1:05:54even anecdotally, I remember playing it
- 1:05:56on my iPhone 3G back in like 2009. And I
- 1:05:59remember everyone else at school had it
- 1:06:01as well, but everyone was also talking
- 1:06:03about how it was obviously a Halo
- 1:06:05ripoff. They actually ended up making a
- 1:06:07trilogy for Nova. And some of the games,
- 1:06:09I think the first one, even got ported
- 1:06:11to the PSP and the PS3. The data pads.
- 1:06:14The data pads were reaches equivalent to
- 1:06:16Halo 3's terminals hidden all across the
- 1:06:19campaign levels across normal and
- 1:06:21legendary difficulties. They told the
- 1:06:23story of an unknown and rather
- 1:06:25schizophrenic hacker who in hacking into
- 1:06:28oni accidentally stumbled across what is
- 1:06:31essentially Halo's version of the
- 1:06:33Illuminati. a group of incredibly
- 1:06:35secretive and clandestine AIs called the
- 1:06:39Assembly who for hundreds of years had
- 1:06:41been secretly guiding the course of
- 1:06:43humanity from the shadows like
- 1:06:45puppeteers. The story of the data pads
- 1:06:47is actually really creepy and it it
- 1:06:50shines a whole new light on the story of
- 1:06:52Reach and realistically the whole story
- 1:06:54of Halo to be honest with you. And
- 1:06:55luckily for you, I happen to have made
- 1:06:58again what I think might be a pretty
- 1:07:00good video, quite an immersive one going
- 1:07:02into the story of the data patch. So,
- 1:07:04link to that is down below. Green Day
- 1:07:07Halo song. So, back to band related Halo
- 1:07:10lore. Back during Halo 2, when Bungie
- 1:07:12were fielding a mainstream band to make
- 1:07:14a song for Halo 2, Green Day made an
- 1:07:18entire song that was meant to be in the
- 1:07:20game and on the soundtrack. But Nile
- 1:07:22Rogers, who was working with C Paul
- 1:07:24Johnson, Michael Sawattorii, and of
- 1:07:26course Marty O'Donnell on the
- 1:07:27soundtrack, said that although the song
- 1:07:29was good, it was too much for Halo. And
- 1:07:32so they went with Blow Me Away by
- 1:07:34Breaking Benjamin instead. And man,
- 1:07:37there's so much to unpack there.
- 1:07:39Firstly, the fact that Nile Rogers
- 1:07:41worked in Halo 2's soundtrack is just
- 1:07:43insane to me. The guy is a bonafide
- 1:07:46musical legend, and the fact that he was
- 1:07:48just sat in the studio with Marty and
- 1:07:49Michael and Caul just casually cooking
- 1:07:52up the greatest video game soundtrack of
- 1:07:53all time is quite mind-blowing. But the
- 1:07:56elephant in the room, the fact that
- 1:07:58Green Day's first major song released
- 1:08:00after American Idiot was going to be a
- 1:08:02song for Halo 2 is mindblowing. I mean,
- 1:08:06I've been a huge fan of Green Day most
- 1:08:08of my life. Um, I think American Idiot
- 1:08:10was probably when I got into them. In
- 1:08:12fact, it was the first album that I ever
- 1:08:14bought. And very weirdly, actually, very
- 1:08:17weirdly, I found the disc this morning.
- 1:08:20I I some kind of cosmic alignment caused
- 1:08:22that. I found this this morning, like 3
- 1:08:244 hours ago. That was the first album
- 1:08:26that I ever bought in New York in 2005.
- 1:08:29Right. This is not the full album, but
- 1:08:31you know what I mean. Cool to mention
- 1:08:33that. and the fact that oh my god they
- 1:08:36were gonna make a song for Hillary 2
- 1:08:37that I really really hope that at some
- 1:08:39point they release that for whatever
- 1:08:41reason. I'd also love to get Billy Trey
- 1:08:44and Mike on a video as well to discuss
- 1:08:46that. So if any of you guys are watching
- 1:08:47Billy, Trey, Mike, please hit me up. I'd
- 1:08:49love to talk. Let's talk about some
- 1:08:51Halo. Albert Wesker in Halo 1. This is
- 1:08:54just a fun little Easter egg, but I
- 1:08:55wanted to give it its own entry because
- 1:08:57uh like beyond Halo, Resident Evil is
- 1:08:59like my second biggest hyperfixation in
- 1:09:01gaming, so I had to mention it. When V43
- 1:09:04started adding skins to MCC, one of the
- 1:09:07first ones that they added was an Albert
- 1:09:08Wesker Samurai Edge themed skin for the
- 1:09:11Halo 1 Magnum. The Samurai Edge is an
- 1:09:13incredibly famous pistol from Resident
- 1:09:15Evil. A really uniquely colored custom
- 1:09:18Bretta 92FS and to see its unique paint
- 1:09:21job replicated on an M6D of all choices
- 1:09:25was just perfection. I love this thing
- 1:09:27so much and I love whoever it was at P43
- 1:09:30who decided to add it. And also, funnily
- 1:09:32enough, Wesker has another bit of
- 1:09:34involvement in Halo. So, in Alex
- 1:09:36Garland's Halo movie script, one of the
- 1:09:38marines that charges the silent cgrapher
- 1:09:40beach with you and goes inside the
- 1:09:41facility was called Wesker and 28 Days
- 1:09:45Later, which was obviously his previous
- 1:09:47movie before he was going to do Halo, he
- 1:09:49said was massively inspired by Resident
- 1:09:52Evil. And clearly, he wanted that
- 1:09:54Resident Evil inspiration to transcend
- 1:09:5628 Days and be imparted on Halo as well.
- 1:10:00Man, he wrote a Halo movie with
- 1:10:02inspiration taken from 28 Days Later
- 1:10:04with a nod to Resident Evil in it. I say
- 1:10:08this with all genuine sincerity. He just
- 1:10:11like me for real. Sleep Token. Back to
- 1:10:15bands. Another band who are really hot
- 1:10:16at the moment. Sleep Token actually have
- 1:10:19a lot of Halo references in their music
- 1:10:21as well. They've been known to play
- 1:10:22renditions of the Halo theme during live
- 1:10:25shows. They actually only did this a
- 1:10:26couple weeks ago at Download Festival in
- 1:10:28the UK. And also their second album was
- 1:10:31literally called This Place Will Become
- 1:10:33Your Tomb, which is of course a
- 1:10:35reference to Cortana's final quote from
- 1:10:38Crow's Nest in Halo 3. Oh, and if you're
- 1:10:40doubting whether that's actually a
- 1:10:41reference or not, uh that album also
- 1:10:43happened to release uh a day before Halo
- 1:10:453's birthday. So yeah, that's definitely
- 1:10:48a reference. Hideokima is a Halo fan.
- 1:10:52But the list of famous Halo appreciators
- 1:10:54goes beyond just fans. One of my
- 1:10:57absolute gaming idols, Hideo Khjima,
- 1:10:59also gave Halo 3 a seal of approval. In
- 1:11:022007, Ryan Payton, who would later go
- 1:11:05and work on Halo 4, but at the time was
- 1:11:07working in Tokyo with Kajjima on Metal
- 1:11:09Gear Solid 4, had Halo 3 shipped
- 1:11:12overnight to the studio when it released
- 1:11:14so they could play it. But the problem
- 1:11:16is that Hideokima suffers from really
- 1:11:18bad motion sickness. So all he did was
- 1:11:20spawn in on Sierra 1117, walk up to a
- 1:11:23plant, shoot that plant, and then when
- 1:11:26the plant moved, he simply nodded in
- 1:11:28affirmation and walked off. Reactive
- 1:11:30natural environments got the Hideo
- 1:11:32Khjima seal of approval. Solid Snake.
- 1:11:36And speaking of Hideokima, his most
- 1:11:38iconic creation, Irakcoy, is referenced
- 1:11:41in Halo. The symbol for the bandanna
- 1:11:44skull, which just so happens to have the
- 1:11:46effect and description infinite ammo, is
- 1:11:49of course a snake reference.
- 1:11:51>> If you run out of ammo, you can have
- 1:11:52mine.
- 1:11:53>> You've got enough? Absolutely. Infinite
- 1:11:56ammo.
- 1:11:57>> But this isn't the only Metal Gear
- 1:11:59reference in Halo. In Halo Infinite, 343
- 1:12:02added a psycho mantis reference in the
- 1:12:04Grunt Propaganda towers.
- 1:12:06>> Why can't we kill the chief? It's like
- 1:12:10psychic or something.
- 1:12:12Wait, I got it. We just got to plug the
- 1:12:16controller into player two. Well, what
- 1:12:20the hell do you mean there's no plug?
- 1:12:22>> So, if you don't know, Psycho Mantis is
- 1:12:24one of the most iconic Metal Gear boss
- 1:12:25fights of all time because of just how
- 1:12:27ingeniously you have to beat him. So, he
- 1:12:30has these telekinetic psychonetic
- 1:12:31abilities where he can hover and you
- 1:12:33literally can't shoot him because he can
- 1:12:35predict your shots and your attacks
- 1:12:36before you do them. So, the way that you
- 1:12:39beat him is you unplug your controller
- 1:12:41from the controller port and plug it
- 1:12:44into a different one, which breaks his
- 1:12:46telekinesis and allows you to attack
- 1:12:48him. Trust me, there's a reason that I'm
- 1:12:50a huge Hideokima fanboy. I mean, not
- 1:12:53only is this game design absolutely
- 1:12:55ingenious, but he was doing this in
- 1:12:571998.
- 1:12:59Insane. The F2000 coincidence. So,
- 1:13:03you've probably noticed that some of the
- 1:13:04guns in Halo are very clearly inspired
- 1:13:06by real life firearms. The BR is
- 1:13:09obviously inspired by the FAMAS. The
- 1:13:11sniper is obviously inspired by the
- 1:13:14Denell NTW20, and the AR is obviously
- 1:13:17inspired by the F2000, except only the
- 1:13:20first two of those comparisons are true.
- 1:13:23The fact that the AR looks really
- 1:13:24similar to the F2000 happens to be a
- 1:13:27massive coincidence and it was confirmed
- 1:13:29by the legend Rob Mccles who designed
- 1:13:32all of Halo's weapons at Bungie. And the
- 1:13:34dates line up as well. The F2000 was
- 1:13:37announced at IDEX in March 2001, but had
- 1:13:40likely been in production for years
- 1:13:41prior, and the Halo 1 assault rifle has
- 1:13:44versions going back as far as 1999.
- 1:13:48So clearly, the dates just don't work.
- 1:13:50Unless FN happened to have spies within
- 1:13:52Bungie, or unless Rob Mccles was
- 1:13:55secretly working for them and feeding
- 1:13:56information to FN to design the F2000,
- 1:13:59or vice versa. Any similarity between
- 1:14:02the two designs is purely coincidental.
- 1:14:05They just happen to come up with an
- 1:14:07almost identical futuristic assault
- 1:14:08rifle at the exact same time. The Halo
- 1:14:11Killers. So, the Halo Killers were a
- 1:14:13kind of pseudo genre of game in the mid
- 1:14:16to early 2000s that were designed to
- 1:14:18either dethrone Halo or that people
- 1:14:21assumed were meant to dethrone Halo. The
- 1:14:23most infamous Halo killer was, of
- 1:14:25course, Ubisoft's Haze, meant to be
- 1:14:27PlayStation's answer to Halo, which
- 1:14:30completely flopped when it released.
- 1:14:32Killzone was another one of
- 1:14:33PlayStation's attempted clapbacks that
- 1:14:36didn't fail, but it obviously never came
- 1:14:38even remotely close to the heights of
- 1:14:40Bungie's Halo. But the most infamous
- 1:14:43example of a literal purposebuilt Halo
- 1:14:47Killer was Infinity Ward's well Halo
- 1:14:50Killer. It was literally called that. So
- 1:14:53after Call of Duty 2 shipped to huge
- 1:14:55success in 2005, Infinity Ward was split
- 1:14:58into two teams. One team would work on
- 1:15:01another World War II COD and the other
- 1:15:03team would work on a new project
- 1:15:06literally camed Halo Killer. Splitting
- 1:15:09the resources between two teams spread
- 1:15:11them too thin, though. And eventually,
- 1:15:13both of these games were scrapped, and
- 1:15:15the team was reunified to create, of all
- 1:15:18games, COD 4. The game that truly began
- 1:15:22COD's ascent to the top of the food
- 1:15:23chain, and still to this day, one of the
- 1:15:26best shooters ever made. Now, not too
- 1:15:28long ago, a build of a secret cut
- 1:15:30futuristic Call of Duty called NX1 was
- 1:15:33leaked and is like almost fully playable
- 1:15:35now. And watching that game play really
- 1:15:37made me wonder what Halo Killer was
- 1:15:39going to actually play like. I beg one
- 1:15:42day somebody leaks a build cuz I really
- 1:15:44want to make a video about that.
- 1:15:47Original Halo 4. This entry refers to
- 1:15:49343's original version of Halo 4 that
- 1:15:52unlike the pale imitation of Call of
- 1:15:54Duty that we ended up getting was
- 1:15:56actually a fullyfledged classic Halo
- 1:15:59game that was received extremely
- 1:16:01positively by focus groups who played
- 1:16:03it. And how did 343 respond to this
- 1:16:05amazing feedback to their first major
- 1:16:07creation? They scrapped it. They
- 1:16:11scrapped the entire thing and made a COD
- 1:16:13imitation instead. Halo's biblical
- 1:16:15origins and meanings. Now, this is quite
- 1:16:18a deep one. Of course, the name of the
- 1:16:19franchise, Halo, implies it, but the
- 1:16:22religious roots of Halo run very deep.
- 1:16:25The Ark sheltered surviving species from
- 1:16:28the flood. The Covenant, of whom are led
- 1:16:30by a false prophet, face a great schism.
- 1:16:33There's a soundtrack piece called Behold
- 1:16:35a Pale Horse and so many more. Me and
- 1:16:38Wendigon teamed up to do a collab last
- 1:16:40year covering this topic in decent
- 1:16:42detail that I thought was a really good
- 1:16:43video. So, go and watch that video if
- 1:16:45you're more interested. But long story
- 1:16:47short, almost every major facet of Halo
- 1:16:49lore has some kind of connection in
- 1:16:52biblical stories and tales. Stubs the
- 1:16:55Zombie. Stubs the Zombie: Rebel Without
- 1:16:57a Pulse is a horror action adventure
- 1:16:59game released in 2005 where you play as
- 1:17:02a zombie called Stubs in the 1950s going
- 1:17:05around infecting healthy humans. Cool.
- 1:17:08What the hell does this have in relation
- 1:17:10to Halo? Well, Stubs the Zombie is the
- 1:17:13only other game ever released that was
- 1:17:16made on Halo's Blam Engine. The game was
- 1:17:19the first release of the newly founded
- 1:17:21game studio Wideload Games, who were
- 1:17:23founded in 2003 by Alex Ceropian, the
- 1:17:26co-founder of Bungie. And just like
- 1:17:28that, all of a sudden, Stubs being the
- 1:17:30only other game ever made on Blam starts
- 1:17:33to make a whole lot of sense. Shadow
- 1:17:35Run. But Stubs wasn't the only other
- 1:17:38game to use the Blam engine. So,
- 1:17:41Shadowrun, which was a sort of
- 1:17:42progenitor to the hero shooter craze and
- 1:17:45a game that has a real cult following,
- 1:17:47was released in 2007 on the 360 and also
- 1:17:50Windows Vista, made by Phaser
- 1:17:52Interactive. And all the prototyping for
- 1:17:55Shadow Run was also done on Blam. It's
- 1:17:58actually really weird looking at these
- 1:17:59prototypes. They're entirely public.
- 1:18:01There's loads of videos of them out
- 1:18:02there. There's beta builds that are out
- 1:18:04there that you can play. And it just
- 1:18:05looks like a sort of 2005 core Halo
- 1:18:09custom edition mod. The hood, the
- 1:18:11physics, the sound design, loads of
- 1:18:13other stuff are all very clearly Halo 1.
- 1:18:15I mean, you can even see marines running
- 1:18:16around with katanas for God's sake. It
- 1:18:18really does just look like a glorified
- 1:18:20custom edition mod. As far as we know,
- 1:18:22Stubs the Zombie and Shadow Run were the
- 1:18:24only other games to ever use Blam in any
- 1:18:27way. And obviously with Halo moving to
- 1:18:29Unreal now, I have a feeling they might
- 1:18:32be the only other games to use Blam.
- 1:18:35Which Halo is Tempest on? The first DLC
- 1:18:38for Halo Reach brought us a map called
- 1:18:40Tempest, which was actually the only
- 1:18:41other map in the game at that point
- 1:18:43besides Forge World that was set on a
- 1:18:45Halo ring. The law for the map is that a
- 1:18:47UNCC long sword crashes on the
- 1:18:50installation besides a bunch of its
- 1:18:51weather veins or weather control towers,
- 1:18:54whatever they're called. But the big
- 1:18:55question is which Halo ring actually is
- 1:18:58this? Well, it's never actually
- 1:19:01revealed. The likely option would
- 1:19:03probably be Alpha Halo and that this
- 1:19:05long sword was part of an attachment
- 1:19:06that was with the Pillar of autumn. But
- 1:19:08we don't know given that this map was
- 1:19:10released in Reach, which obviously has
- 1:19:12no Halo ring in it, and that it was
- 1:19:14originally meant to release in Halo 3,
- 1:19:16in which the only Halo ring you go to is
- 1:19:19the incomplete installation 04B, there
- 1:19:21really aren't any indications or hints
- 1:19:23as to where this ring or which ring this
- 1:19:26could be. So, unless we randomly get
- 1:19:28some more information about the setting
- 1:19:30of Tempest, we're just going to have to
- 1:19:31keep guessing. Trigate and Reququum for
- 1:19:34a Dream. Welcome to the certified hood
- 1:19:38classic of all certified hood classics.
- 1:19:42The Trigate is one of the most infamous
- 1:19:44Halo conspiracy theories of all time,
- 1:19:46originating in Halo 2. If you skip to
- 1:19:48the end of Delta Halo and jump into the
- 1:19:50geometry of regret, you'll see a button
- 1:19:53floating in the middle of the lake, a
- 1:19:55noticeably human themed button on a Halo
- 1:19:58ring. And if you manage to get close to
- 1:20:00it, its activation tool tip says hold X
- 1:20:03to open gate. Now, realistically, all
- 1:20:06this is is the switch for the Gondler on
- 1:20:08regret that because the map actually
- 1:20:10hasn't loaded properly because you skip
- 1:20:12the trigger point to load the map, the
- 1:20:14Gondler and also the button haven't
- 1:20:16actually loaded properly yet. And so
- 1:20:17it's loaded a placeholder button which
- 1:20:19just so happens to be human. But back in
- 1:20:22the naughties, man, back in the
- 1:20:23mid-200s, people were adamant that there
- 1:20:25was a far deeper and far darker and
- 1:20:28creepier meaning behind this button.
- 1:20:30Enter Reququum for a dream. So, the
- 1:20:34video that dominated Google videos and
- 1:20:36also early YouTube about the trigate was
- 1:20:39framed in a really creepy fashion, as if
- 1:20:42there was some grand Illuminati tier
- 1:20:44secret hidden within Halo 2 that the US
- 1:20:46government didn't want you to find or
- 1:20:48some ridiculous stuff like that. And it
- 1:20:51all revolved around the trigate. But
- 1:20:54like many conspiracy theory videos back
- 1:20:56in the day, the soundtrack to this video
- 1:20:58was the soundtrack to Reququum for a
- 1:21:00Dream, which is a really powerful and
- 1:21:03really striking. I'm not sure what the
- 1:21:05exact word is for it. It's a great piece
- 1:21:06of music and it really builds the
- 1:21:09conspiracy vibe. It had this kind of
- 1:21:11hair raising aura that really did make
- 1:21:13you think there was some grand
- 1:21:14conspiracy hidden within Halo 2 that
- 1:21:16nobody was ever meant to find. Of
- 1:21:19course, I can't play any of it in this
- 1:21:20video because of copyright, but trust
- 1:21:22me, you owe it to yourself to go and
- 1:21:24watch the original video because
- 1:21:25thankfully it's still up. You know, as
- 1:21:27Sergeant Johnson would have said,
- 1:21:29>> this stuff is your history. It should
- 1:21:31remind you grunts what we're fighting to
- 1:21:32protect.
- 1:21:33>> Liinal spaces. Sticking with an entry of
- 1:21:36a similar kind of creepiness. Liinal
- 1:21:38spaces have become a massive thing on
- 1:21:40the internet in recent years thanks to
- 1:21:42the back rooms, and they've also spread
- 1:21:44into gaming as well. Limitinal spaces in
- 1:21:46gaming typically stem from empty
- 1:21:48multiplayer maps, wandering around play
- 1:21:51spaces designed for loads of players
- 1:21:53that once upon a time were brimming with
- 1:21:55countless real people or having the time
- 1:21:57of their lives, but now are entirely
- 1:22:00deserted, almost frozen in time with
- 1:22:02nothing populating them besides the
- 1:22:04subtle ambiencece that you were never
- 1:22:06really meant to hear. It's such a weird
- 1:22:08and kind of disassociating feeling. And
- 1:22:10in this age of nostalgia that we're in
- 1:22:12now, it really doesn't surprise me that
- 1:22:15something like this has really caught
- 1:22:16on. Anyways, as if it wasn't already
- 1:22:18crazy obvious, this entry refers to the
- 1:22:20fact that walking around old empty Halo
- 1:22:22maps invokes the same kind of feelings
- 1:22:25as Limal Spaces. I'm sure most of you
- 1:22:27have tried this before, but if you
- 1:22:28haven't, just one day log into Halo and
- 1:22:31boot up an old Halo 1 BTB map, for
- 1:22:33example, on your own in a custom game
- 1:22:36and just wander around it for 10
- 1:22:37minutes. just listen to the ambience and
- 1:22:38just soak in the actual aura of the map
- 1:22:40on its own because it is a really weird
- 1:22:43creepy feeling. It does feel very
- 1:22:45liable.
- 1:22:50Mandela effects. An equally weird kind
- 1:22:52of effect that's also gotten pretty
- 1:22:54popular in recent years is the Mandela
- 1:22:56effect, which is the idea of a kind of
- 1:22:58widely believed false memory or
- 1:23:01misconception about something. And of
- 1:23:03course, Halo is no stranger to this
- 1:23:05effect. General Kid made a really good
- 1:23:07video going over a bunch of Halo Mandela
- 1:23:09effects a few years ago, but some
- 1:23:10striking examples are the fact that you
- 1:23:13could never play Halo 2's the Armory in
- 1:23:15co-op, even in original Halo 2. The fact
- 1:23:18that it was never actually called Armor
- 1:23:20Lock, but rather armor lockup, and the
- 1:23:23fact that the dying elite at the start
- 1:23:24of Uprising never moved when he talks.
- 1:23:27Only a few there, but it's kind of hard
- 1:23:29to talk about Mandela effects because
- 1:23:31they're quite a personal thing. Like for
- 1:23:33me, I always knew that that elite never
- 1:23:34spoke. But I've seen people saying like,
- 1:23:36"Oh no, I remember that elite being
- 1:23:38animated in OG Halo 2." Mandela effects
- 1:23:40are a real personal thing. So if you
- 1:23:42have any Halo Mandela effects of your
- 1:23:43own, then leave them down in the
- 1:23:45comments. The Hurricane Ivan incident.
- 1:23:48So this one is pretty insane, but in a
- 1:23:50very dangerous way. So, back in 2004
- 1:23:53during the aisle of bees ARG for Halo 2
- 1:23:55that we touched on earlier, one of the
- 1:23:57parts of the ARG had players going to
- 1:24:00pay phones in the real world that would
- 1:24:02ring and they'd pick up the phone and
- 1:24:04answer a call from an operator who
- 1:24:06deliver them information to access one
- 1:24:08of the axons that was part of the story.
- 1:24:10So, of course, fans were going crazy all
- 1:24:12across the country, hunting down these
- 1:24:14payoneses and rushing to them to answer
- 1:24:16calls from the operators. But there was
- 1:24:18something else that was going on in the
- 1:24:20US at the time that was way crazier than
- 1:24:23answering phones. Hurricane Ivan, a
- 1:24:26major, devastating hurricane that wre
- 1:24:28havoc across the southern US, causing
- 1:24:30$26 billion of damage and 124
- 1:24:34fatalities. But this didn't stop Halo
- 1:24:37fans. One fan went to one of the payones
- 1:24:40in the middle of the hurac and answered
- 1:24:43it. And when he did, the actor on the
- 1:24:45other side who was playing the operator
- 1:24:47broke character and said, "Dude, it's a
- 1:24:50hurricane. Put the phone down." I know
- 1:24:52as Halo fans, we're all incredibly
- 1:24:54unsatiated right now. Have been for a
- 1:24:57while, but I don't think we're quite
- 1:24:59unsatiated enough just yet to go
- 1:25:01answering payones in the middle of a
- 1:25:03hurricane. The Shcoy/Dennial.
- 1:25:06The Shcoy or Dinol are a famously cut
- 1:25:10but now cannon species in Halo that
- 1:25:13actually predate Halo as an IP. These
- 1:25:16things began life as the hulks in
- 1:25:18Marathon 1. And given all its Marathon
- 1:25:20inspiration, Bungie planned to add them
- 1:25:23to Halo 1 as a species called the Dinol,
- 1:25:26but they were cut. They then tried to
- 1:25:28add them again with Halo 2, this time
- 1:25:30under the name Shcoy, but again they
- 1:25:33were cut from the game. However, they
- 1:25:35were kept in the cannon, albeit rather
- 1:25:38loosely, in an off-hand mention in Halo
- 1:25:402's Conversations from the Universe
- 1:25:42booklet that came with the limited
- 1:25:44edition. But then in 2017, they were
- 1:25:47officially reintroduced into the cannon
- 1:25:49by 343 in Halo Envoy, where it turned
- 1:25:52out they were once used by the
- 1:25:54foreigners as specialized anti- flood
- 1:25:56units before being weaponized by the
- 1:25:58banished and subsequently nuked by great
- 1:26:01team. But don't worry, there are still
- 1:26:02plenty of charcoy out there in the
- 1:26:04galaxy. And I pray to God that Halo 7 is
- 1:26:08finally the Halo game that introduces
- 1:26:10them as an enemy in the games because
- 1:26:12man, they're a quarter century late at
- 1:26:14this point. Been waiting for them for 25
- 1:26:17years. It's about time. Lost Master
- 1:26:20Chief Screamer Video. So screamer videos
- 1:26:23were a huge thing in the early naughties
- 1:26:26and the kind of early popularized era of
- 1:26:28the internet. They were the first kind
- 1:26:30of major troll to pop up that really
- 1:26:32transcended into real life because they
- 1:26:34terrify you in real life. And to no
- 1:26:37surprise, there are also Halo screamers
- 1:26:39out there that existed. However, there's
- 1:26:41this one specific Master Chief screamer
- 1:26:44video that a bunch of people all seem to
- 1:26:46collectively remember, but that nobody
- 1:26:49seems to be able to find anymore. And
- 1:26:51the post that I found about this are all
- 1:26:53very recent. We're not talking like 15,
- 1:26:5520 years ago. We're talking like 5 years
- 1:26:56ago. People were looking for this and
- 1:26:58remembering it collectively but were
- 1:27:00unable to find it. According to one of
- 1:27:02these posts, the video was called Master
- 1:27:04Chief without helmet real and it began
- 1:27:07with a Starry Night trailer and then
- 1:27:08right after Eddie Bloom says,
- 1:27:10>> "Do you think we'll ever meet them?"
- 1:27:12>> The screamer image appears of some kind
- 1:27:14of doll, possibly made of clay, of a
- 1:27:17demon or a gargoyle with either red eyes
- 1:27:20or no eyes angrily facing the camera.
- 1:27:23Very weird description. Now, it's highly
- 1:27:25likely that the original uploader of
- 1:27:27this video in like 2006 or 2007 or 2008
- 1:27:31has since purged his channel and with it
- 1:27:34has deleted the Schuma video, thus
- 1:27:36making it lost media and explaining why
- 1:27:39nobody seems to be able to find it.
- 1:27:41Either that or it's yet another case of
- 1:27:43a Halo Mandela effect and the video
- 1:27:45never even existed in the first place.
- 1:27:48Steve Jobs. And finally for tier 4, we
- 1:27:51have Steve Jobs, the man who technically
- 1:27:54was the one who revealed Halo to the
- 1:27:57world. At Macworld 1999, Jason Jones
- 1:28:00took to the stage with Steve Jobs to
- 1:28:02announce the Apple Max hit new game,
- 1:28:05Halo.
- 1:28:06>> And so I'm very happy to uh welcome on
- 1:28:09the stage
- 1:28:11Jason Jones, who is the co-founder of
- 1:28:14Bungie and the Halo project lead. Halo
- 1:28:16is the name of this game. and we're
- 1:28:18going to see for the first time Halo.
- 1:28:20>> Bungie at the time was signed to release
- 1:28:22the game on Mac as they had done with
- 1:28:24Marathon some years prior. But
- 1:28:26eventually, of course, Xbox swooped in,
- 1:28:28bought out Bungie, and the rest is
- 1:28:30history. I still find it crazy that of
- 1:28:33all the people who could have revealed
- 1:28:35Halo, it was Steve Jobs. That's like
- 1:28:38such a crazy alien crossover that my
- 1:28:41brain just can't wrap itself around.
- 1:28:43Very cool though, I will say.
- 1:28:46Okay, so with costume change number two
- 1:28:48out of the way, that brings us down to
- 1:28:49tier five, Midnight Facility. And I
- 1:28:52figured now that we're getting into the
- 1:28:54proper spooky stuff, I would put on the
- 1:28:56spookiest shirt that I own, which just
- 1:28:58so happens to be a shirt uh by one of
- 1:29:00the best banners of all time, good old
- 1:29:02fashioned Death Tunes. Uh shout out to
- 1:29:04all the Death Tune fans watching. So
- 1:29:06starting out tier five, we have the
- 1:29:08transmissions. So, the transmissions are
- 1:29:10a series of official Bungie Made
- 1:29:14stories, I guess, that I have never seen
- 1:29:17anyone talk about until recently.
- 1:29:19They've existed for 25 years. They
- 1:29:22predate even Halo 1. And until I
- 1:29:25randomly stumbled across them last year
- 1:29:26and made a video about them, I'd never
- 1:29:29seen a single person discuss them. They
- 1:29:31were released on bungee.net sometime in
- 1:29:33the year 2000, and the page that they
- 1:29:35were posted on has since been lost to
- 1:29:37time. And they're essentially a series
- 1:29:39of very short transmissions, of course,
- 1:29:41andor conversations between UNC and
- 1:29:44Covenant ships. There isn't really much
- 1:29:46to discuss about these transmissions
- 1:29:48because they're just like a bunch of
- 1:29:49provoking oneliners. They aren't really
- 1:29:52that deep and there's not really any
- 1:29:53story to them, but like I said earlier,
- 1:29:56Shock Horror, your boy has already done
- 1:29:57a video diving into all of them in great
- 1:29:59detail. The link to that is, of course,
- 1:30:01down below. Lincoln Park Halo song. Now,
- 1:30:04Lincoln Park are obviously one of the
- 1:30:06most legendary bands of all time. I
- 1:30:08actually got to see them a few weeks ago
- 1:30:09live at Wembley in front of 100,000
- 1:30:12people. And Jesus Christ almighty, if
- 1:30:15you ever get the opportunity, you need
- 1:30:16to go and see them live. Either way
- 1:30:18though, as if you already didn't love
- 1:30:19Lincoln Park enough, well, they're
- 1:30:21massive Halo fans. So, in 2010, they
- 1:30:24released a bunch of biders and demos
- 1:30:26that never made it onto any of their
- 1:30:27albums. and they stemmed from their most
- 1:30:30recent album at the time, A Thousand
- 1:30:31Sons, all the way back to their original
- 1:30:33album, Zero, right? And on these Bides
- 1:30:36was a track called Halo, which a few
- 1:30:39years ago on stream, Mike Shinoda
- 1:30:41confirmed was meant to be on Meteora.
- 1:30:44Now, I can't play it for obvious
- 1:30:45reasons, but I highly suggest you go and
- 1:30:48listen to it. Unfortunately, the video
- 1:30:49is AI generated, which looks like trash.
- 1:30:52It was during a weird era where they
- 1:30:53were trying to do some AI stuff, but the
- 1:30:55actual track itself is incredible. Not
- 1:30:57only does it sound like pure early
- 1:31:00naughties Lincoln Park, but it also
- 1:31:02sounds really Haloy. Specifically, like
- 1:31:05really in line with Halo 2's vibe in a
- 1:31:07way that I can't quite describe, but
- 1:31:09you'll definitely pick up on it when you
- 1:31:11listen to it. Mike did say that the
- 1:31:13track wasn't actually made for Halo. So,
- 1:31:15even though Meteora came out around the
- 1:31:17time that Green Day and Breaking
- 1:31:18Benjamin were making tracks for Halo 2,
- 1:31:20it actually wasn't made for Bungie for
- 1:31:22Halo 2. It's just that the band were
- 1:31:24playing a ton of Halo back then at the
- 1:31:26same time that they were making the
- 1:31:26songs for Meteora. So, they thought
- 1:31:28they'd make a track that was almost an
- 1:31:30homage to Halo. Even still though, there
- 1:31:32is some real Halo inspiration in this
- 1:31:34song. I mean, hell, they were also even
- 1:31:36known to host mini tournaments backstage
- 1:31:39with bands that they were touring with.
- 1:31:40Like, there's one famous example of them
- 1:31:42beating Story of the Year in a mini
- 1:31:44tournament. They also held a pre-release
- 1:31:46Halo 3 tournament versus their fans as
- 1:31:49well, which I think was officially
- 1:31:50endorsed and supported by Bungie, which
- 1:31:52is really cool. Another famous person
- 1:31:55kind of pipe dream here, but I would
- 1:31:57love to get Mike Shenoda on a video at
- 1:31:59some point to discuss Halo and maybe
- 1:32:01even talk about his track Halo, which
- 1:32:03was made in homage to Halo back in the
- 1:32:04day. So Mike, if you happen to be
- 1:32:06watching this video, please hit me up.
- 1:32:08Let's talk some Halo. Tom Cruz and Julia
- 1:32:11Roberts. Going beyond famous musicians,
- 1:32:14a lot of famous actors have some really
- 1:32:16weird ties to Halo as well. Of course,
- 1:32:18everyone knows that Zack Efron and Tom
- 1:32:20Hardy were cited at midnight releases of
- 1:32:22Halo 3 and Hero Reach, respectively, but
- 1:32:25the connections go way deeper than just
- 1:32:27a celebrity going to a midnight release.
- 1:32:30So, did you know that in Halo 2, the
- 1:32:33Master Chief was almost recast as Tom
- 1:32:35Cruz and Cortana was almost recast as
- 1:32:39Julia Roberts? When Hollywood caught
- 1:32:41wind of just how cataclysmically big
- 1:32:44Halo 1 was, various Hollywood agents
- 1:32:46went to Marty O'Donnell to try and pitch
- 1:32:48their A-listers for roles in Halo 2.
- 1:32:51Specifically, Tom Cruz's agent pitched
- 1:32:53Cruz as Chief and Julia Roberts' agent
- 1:32:56pitched her as Cortana. But of course,
- 1:32:58Marty shot the idea down in part because
- 1:33:01of just how much he respected Steve DS
- 1:33:03and Jen Taylor, but also because he
- 1:33:05genuinely believed that a lot of Halo
- 1:33:061's success was down to their
- 1:33:08performances in the game, which, you
- 1:33:10know, I agree. Pretty crazy to be able
- 1:33:12to say that you shot down Tom Cruz and
- 1:33:14Julia Roberts. I'm not going to lie,
- 1:33:15that's it's a pretty cool thing to be
- 1:33:16able to say that you've done, but I'm
- 1:33:18very happy that you did. Steve DS and
- 1:33:20Jen Taylor for life. The Bungee verse.
- 1:33:23The Bungie verse is a very long-running
- 1:33:25theory that in fact is so old that it
- 1:33:28more than likely outdates most of the
- 1:33:30people watching this video that suggests
- 1:33:33that there's some kind of intrinsic
- 1:33:34narrative connection between all of
- 1:33:36Bungie's games. Specifically, it
- 1:33:39suggests that Pathways into Darkness,
- 1:33:41Myth, Marathon, Oni, Halo, and Destiny
- 1:33:44are all part of the same universe. Now,
- 1:33:48again, no surprise. is I have a rather
- 1:33:50long video going into this theory in
- 1:33:52much more detail, but the shorthand
- 1:33:54version is in Pathways into Darkness,
- 1:33:56under the orders of President Bill
- 1:33:58Clinton, you and a team of US Army
- 1:34:00special forces head into a Mayan temple
- 1:34:02and destroy a waking god known as the
- 1:34:05Worker hidden within using a nuke. This
- 1:34:09worker is the same omni potent
- 1:34:11primordial entity that is imprisoned
- 1:34:13within the sun in Marathon who you spend
- 1:34:16the end of Marathon 2 and then the
- 1:34:18entirety of Marathon Infinity trying to
- 1:34:20neutralize. In Marathon you play as a
- 1:34:23Molir MarkV cyborg designated Molnir
- 1:34:27Recon 54 and in Halo you play as a Molir
- 1:34:30Mark 5 cyborg of course the Master
- 1:34:33Chief. In Marathon, there also exists a
- 1:34:35terror group known as Maida based on
- 1:34:38Mars. And in Destiny, there are two guns
- 1:34:40named Maida Multi-Tool and Maida Mini
- 1:34:43tool with in-game law that is a direct
- 1:34:46entry in Marathon's law. In Destiny, you
- 1:34:49can find a cryo tube of sorts. And when
- 1:34:51you inspect it, your ghost says that it
- 1:34:53contains a guardian with exceptional
- 1:34:56light who's been in there for centuries
- 1:34:58and wishes to remain sleeping. the last
- 1:35:00war that he fought was enough for a
- 1:35:02thousand lifetimes. Of course, in
- 1:35:04reference to the Master Chief. Now, that
- 1:35:06is just the tip of the iceberg of the
- 1:35:09Bungeiverse theory. See what I did
- 1:35:10there? But I think you get the picture.
- 1:35:12There's also this kind of overarching
- 1:35:15theory/ idea as well called the eternal
- 1:35:18hero theory that basically suggests that
- 1:35:20the soul that inhabits the main
- 1:35:22character of every Bungie game is
- 1:35:24essentially the same soul reincarnated
- 1:35:27into different universes. And this is in
- 1:35:29part true because the idea with that
- 1:35:30theory is that the soul is the player.
- 1:35:33Most of Bungie protagonists are silent
- 1:35:35or mostly silent protagonists that exist
- 1:35:37for the player to impart their own
- 1:35:39personality onto and thus your soul is
- 1:35:42inhabiting the soul of every single
- 1:35:44Bungeie protagonist, thus kind of making
- 1:35:46you the eternal hero. That pretty much
- 1:35:48sums it up. But if you're interested in
- 1:35:50going further into that theory, then
- 1:35:51like I said, my video is down in the
- 1:35:53description. The infinite loop theory.
- 1:35:55This is another law related theory that
- 1:35:57I actually came up with many years ago,
- 1:36:00funnily enough, off the back of Mob of
- 1:36:02the Dead's Easter egg, the infinite
- 1:36:04cycle theory. So, the idea with this
- 1:36:06theory is that the Halo universe is
- 1:36:08stuck in an infinite cycle perpetuated
- 1:36:10by the flood. And that the only way to
- 1:36:13break the cycle is to not just beat the
- 1:36:15flood, but pass their final test for the
- 1:36:18mantle of responsibility. The flood were
- 1:36:20born from the remnants of the
- 1:36:21precursors, the god-like species who
- 1:36:23created all life in the Halo universe.
- 1:36:26The precursors chose humanity as the
- 1:36:28heirs to their mantle of responsibility,
- 1:36:30an Imperial piece that would essentially
- 1:36:32make them the rulers of the galaxy.
- 1:36:34However, before officially receiving the
- 1:36:36mantle, humanity are said to have to
- 1:36:39face the precursor's final test when
- 1:36:41they are at their most ripe. A test that
- 1:36:44should come in the form of a galactic
- 1:36:46apocalypse of flood, far bigger than any
- 1:36:49flood force that we've ever seen in any
- 1:36:51of the Halo games yet. If humanity beat
- 1:36:54this flood force and win, great. The
- 1:36:56cycle is broken. They achieve the mantle
- 1:36:58of responsibility and the universe
- 1:37:00progresses as normal. But if they fail,
- 1:37:02well, the flood consume the galaxy and
- 1:37:04the cycle repeats. So my idea is that
- 1:37:07humanity were not the first species to
- 1:37:10face this test. The precursors are
- 1:37:12significantly older than anything in the
- 1:37:14Halo universe. And in their search for
- 1:37:17sufficient heirs for their mantle, they
- 1:37:18created several candidate species before
- 1:37:21humanity who failed the test causing the
- 1:37:24flood to win who then recede from the
- 1:37:26galaxy. New life is created and the
- 1:37:28cycle begins a new until a sufficient
- 1:37:30air species is found or created. So just
- 1:37:33quickly to summarize, the precursors
- 1:37:35create life, test them with a flood.
- 1:37:37they ultimately fail and the flood
- 1:37:39consume their galaxy. The flood then
- 1:37:41recede and the cycle repeats. But if you
- 1:37:44beat the flood, well, the cycle is
- 1:37:46broken. That's probably the best
- 1:37:47description of the theory that I can
- 1:37:48give, but I did make a video about it,
- 1:37:50albe it like a decade ago, so the
- 1:37:52quality is questionable, but if you're
- 1:37:54interested, you know what to do. Halo
- 1:37:56Combat Evolved isn't real. So, this is a
- 1:37:59bit of a weird one that I came up with
- 1:38:00that is uh technically true, but it's
- 1:38:03not quite as esoteric as it sounds. At
- 1:38:06no point did Bungie ever call Halo 1
- 1:38:09Halo Combat Evolved. That's never what
- 1:38:12the game was meant to be called.
- 1:38:13However, in what was quite possibly the
- 1:38:15first instance of Microsoft's
- 1:38:17overbearing interference, Microsoft came
- 1:38:19in to Bungie and were like, "Yeah, you
- 1:38:22can't just call this game Halo. There's
- 1:38:23got to be something else on the box to
- 1:38:25make people want to buy it because just
- 1:38:26Halo isn't grabby enough." So, they
- 1:38:29suggested Combat Evolved. Now, the
- 1:38:31Combat Evolved suffix does make sense. I
- 1:38:33mean, Halo 1's gameplay and controls
- 1:38:35were pretty revolutionary, but there's a
- 1:38:38reason that you'll very rarely hear
- 1:38:39anyone who actually worked on Halo 1
- 1:38:41call it Combat Evolved. It's also the
- 1:38:43reason why it's just called Halo on the
- 1:38:46binder of the game case as well. And
- 1:38:48funny enough, that actually transferred
- 1:38:49over to the gearbox port as well, which
- 1:38:51upheld the idea of just calling it Halo.
- 1:38:53Of course, it's called Combat Evolved on
- 1:38:55the front and also oh, on the back of
- 1:38:58Halo 1 on Xbox, it is, but not on the
- 1:39:01back of the gearbox port. just called
- 1:39:02Halo in that. But even still, that's
- 1:39:04why, at least in the binders, it's just
- 1:39:06called Halo. So, if you ever wonder why
- 1:39:08I tend to call it Halo 1 over Combat
- 1:39:10Evolved, and that's why. And funnily
- 1:39:12enough, this happened again with Halo
- 1:39:14Reach as well. Halo Reach was originally
- 1:39:16just going to be called Reach, but
- 1:39:18Microsoft insisted that it be called
- 1:39:20Halo Reach for brand recognition. And
- 1:39:22just like before, despite caving to the
- 1:39:24Halo prefix almost everywhere else,
- 1:39:27Bungie did stick to their guns with the
- 1:39:29intro of the game, which still just says
- 1:39:31Reach. You know, I do find it quite
- 1:39:33funny how with Halo 1, Microsoft were
- 1:39:35doubting the selling power of the word
- 1:39:37Halo. But then when Reach rolls around,
- 1:39:39all of a sudden, they're insisting that
- 1:39:41Bungie include the word Halo for selling
- 1:39:43power. You got to love how Microsoft
- 1:39:46operates. Master Chief dies in Halo 3.
- 1:39:50Real. So, in Halo 3, when Chief
- 1:39:52experiences the first Cortana moment,
- 1:39:54one of the Marines says that his vitals
- 1:39:57just pinged KIA. But obviously, Chief's
- 1:39:59still alive and walking, at least kind
- 1:40:02of.
- 1:40:03>> Sir, you okay?
- 1:40:05>> Your vitals just pinged KIA.
- 1:40:08>> So, the way that these Cortana gravemind
- 1:40:10moments work is that they're
- 1:40:11telepathically induced in the Chief by
- 1:40:14the Gravemind who's weaponizing the
- 1:40:16precursor concept of neural physics.
- 1:40:19Essentially, the idea that everything in
- 1:40:20existence is a living entity. It's kind
- 1:40:23of complicated, but the grave mind
- 1:40:25essentially bending the fabric of
- 1:40:26existence to convey these messages to
- 1:40:29Chief causes his pulse, temperature,
- 1:40:31respiration rate, and blood pressure to
- 1:40:34all fall to fatal levels, which then
- 1:40:36immediately restore upon their
- 1:40:38completion. This also explains why your
- 1:40:40movement is slowed so much during these
- 1:40:42moments as well. Miolnir functions based
- 1:40:44on brain function and Chief's brain
- 1:40:47still had activity which allowed him to
- 1:40:49move but his muscles were starved of
- 1:40:51oxygenated blood and so they moved
- 1:40:53really really slowly. So just keep that
- 1:40:55in mind next time you're playing Halo 3.
- 1:40:57You're technically almost dead during
- 1:40:59these moments.
- 1:41:01Sapion Sunrise. Sapion Sunrise is a
- 1:41:05human extremist terror organization that
- 1:41:07operates in the outer colonies and the
- 1:41:09fringes of human space. They are
- 1:41:11staunchly opposed to any kind of
- 1:41:13alliance or even appeasement with any
- 1:41:15ex-go covenant species, but more
- 1:41:17specifically with the elites. They
- 1:41:19believe that the UG's peace treaty with
- 1:41:21the elites is an act of treason and that
- 1:41:23postwar humanity is in essence
- 1:41:26surrendering to the species that once
- 1:41:28killed billions of us. And you know they
- 1:41:31are right. Of course, we wouldn't have
- 1:41:33won the war if it weren't for the elites
- 1:41:34allying with us. But it's an objective
- 1:41:36fact that during the war that by the way
- 1:41:38they started they killed billions if not
- 1:41:42trillions of us. Well, okay, if you want
- 1:41:44to be pedantic, technically per Contact
- 1:41:46Harvest, we did shoot first, but they
- 1:41:48invaded first, so it was definitely on
- 1:41:50them. In 2558, Sapion Sunrise even tried
- 1:41:53to assassinate an outer colony
- 1:41:55ambassador who was going to be meeting
- 1:41:56with an elite Kaiden with plans to pin
- 1:41:59the assassination on the elites and try
- 1:42:01and stoke some kind of aggression
- 1:42:02against them. They infiltrated the
- 1:42:04ambassador's bodyguards, but thankfully
- 1:42:06blue team managed to foil their plot
- 1:42:07before it happened. They went in and
- 1:42:09they killed the undercover Sapion
- 1:42:11Sunrise members, but the ambassador was
- 1:42:13still killed. And to cover up the
- 1:42:15incident, the local government hid the
- 1:42:17fact that the Sapion Sunrise were
- 1:42:19involved at all and tried to pin the
- 1:42:21entire thing on the Master Chief, saying
- 1:42:23that he just went to a peace treaty and
- 1:42:25shot up a bunch of innocent people. This
- 1:42:28caused Chief and Blue Team to go AWOL,
- 1:42:30which is part of Hunt the Truth, but
- 1:42:31that's a whole different story for a
- 1:42:32different day. As far as we know, Sapion
- 1:42:35Sunrise are still operating on the outer
- 1:42:37colonies. I got to say though, even
- 1:42:39though I might not agree with it, I do
- 1:42:41think that their propaganda was pretty
- 1:42:42raw. Like these posters, these flyers
- 1:42:44are pretty cool, man. Like, I can
- 1:42:46appreciate good propaganda when I see
- 1:42:48it, even if I don't fall for it. Halo 3
- 1:42:50Xenomorph official. So, we all know that
- 1:42:53Halo took a lot of inspiration from
- 1:42:55Alien. But what if I told you that Halo
- 1:42:583 was originally meant to feature a
- 1:43:01literal xenomorph? You'd say like, "Oh,
- 1:43:03you're crazy." Or you're click baiting
- 1:43:04or you're lying. Or there's a twist to
- 1:43:06this, right? You're going to say
- 1:43:07something like, "Oh, but it was on a
- 1:43:09poster." Or, "Oh, but it was an emblem."
- 1:43:11Nope. Halo 3 almost featured literal
- 1:43:14xenomorphs. Erica Royo, who was one of
- 1:43:17the artists over at Bungie on Halo 3,
- 1:43:19recreated the alien warriors from Aliens
- 1:43:22in Halo 3's engine with hopes of
- 1:43:25prototyping a Halo meets Alien encounter
- 1:43:27in the game. Obviously, nothing ever
- 1:43:30came of this, but I find it insane how
- 1:43:33well this xenomorph actually fits within
- 1:43:36Halo's aesthetic. I mean, it's no
- 1:43:37surprise given that Halo was of course
- 1:43:39heavily based on Alien, but still like
- 1:43:42this model looks like it was designed,
- 1:43:44well, it was designed for Halo 3, but it
- 1:43:46looks right at home in it. It's wild to
- 1:43:48me that this is an official Bungie made
- 1:43:51Halo 3 asset. Gets me wondering what
- 1:43:54that encounter might have looked like.
- 1:43:56Emile is a sociopath. So, sociopathy is
- 1:43:59defined as a pattern of antisocial
- 1:44:02behaviors and attitudes, including
- 1:44:04manipulation, deceit, aggression, and a
- 1:44:07lack of empathy for others. Now, I'm
- 1:44:09assuming that this entry is basing Emil
- 1:44:11being a sociopath on his lack of empathy
- 1:44:14in Halo Reach. He doesn't really seem to
- 1:44:16care when that girl's dad dies in Winter
- 1:44:18Contingency, and he doesn't seem to care
- 1:44:20when George dies either. It's kind of
- 1:44:21just water under the bridge for him. We
- 1:44:23never hear him say anything about cat
- 1:44:24dying, but I'd also assume that he feels
- 1:44:26a similar way about her dying as well.
- 1:44:29So yeah, he definitely lacks empathy and
- 1:44:31he absolutely has heightened aggression,
- 1:44:33but he doesn't manipulate or deceive. So
- 1:44:35I find it hard to describe him as
- 1:44:37sociopathic. When he was a kid, Emil's
- 1:44:40parents were both killed by the
- 1:44:41insurrection, and then his older
- 1:44:44brother, who cared for him in
- 1:44:45theirstead, had to sacrifice himself so
- 1:44:47that Emil could escape when the Covenant
- 1:44:49glass his home planet. So, suffice to
- 1:44:52say, he had a really tough upbringing,
- 1:44:54which is more than likely why he became
- 1:44:55a Spartan and also why he's so cold. But
- 1:44:58I wouldn't call him sociopathic. More
- 1:45:00so, I'd say that he's psychopathic. I
- 1:45:02think he definitely fits that
- 1:45:02description way better. Dante's Inferno.
- 1:45:06Dante's Inferno is a 14th century
- 1:45:08narrative poem written by Dante Aligiri,
- 1:45:10who was a poet, a philosopher, and a
- 1:45:13writer. and it's about his journey
- 1:45:15through the nine circles of hell where
- 1:45:17he's led by the shade of an ancient
- 1:45:19Roman poet called Virgil. Where does
- 1:45:22this factor into Halo, I hear you ask?
- 1:45:24Well, Halo 3 ODST's story was almost
- 1:45:27entirely based on Dante's Inferno. In
- 1:45:29many places, it's an almost direct
- 1:45:31retelling of his journey through hell.
- 1:45:33Now, I recently did a massive deep dive
- 1:45:35video going into the similarities
- 1:45:37between Dante's Inferno and ODST, but a
- 1:45:40few small examples of similarities are
- 1:45:42the fact that Rookie is an ODST who
- 1:45:44falls feet first into hell, whereas
- 1:45:46Dante himself descends into hell. The
- 1:45:48Rookie is guided through his version of
- 1:45:50hell by an AI called Virgil, and Dante
- 1:45:52is guided through hell by a shade called
- 1:45:55Virgil. When the rookie reaches the
- 1:45:57ninth suble of the data hive, it's
- 1:45:59consumed by ice. And when Dante reaches
- 1:46:01the ninth circle of hell, it is also
- 1:46:03consumed by ice. The ninth suble of the
- 1:46:06data hive contains a treacherous NMPD
- 1:46:09cop. And the ninth circle of hell is
- 1:46:10dedicated to those who commit sins of
- 1:46:12treachery. The rookie emerges from the
- 1:46:15ninth suble on the morning of a
- 1:46:17Saturday. And Dante emerges from the
- 1:46:19ninth circle of hell at 7:30 a.m. on a
- 1:46:22Saturday. That's just the tip of the
- 1:46:24iceberg. Halo PS2. So, based on the
- 1:46:27current rumors and speculation, Halo on
- 1:46:29PlayStation may actually end up becoming
- 1:46:31a reality. But this isn't the first time
- 1:46:33that those rumors have circulated.
- 1:46:35Before Halo 1 even launched, there were
- 1:46:38rumors of a PlayStation build of the
- 1:46:39game existing with the rights to
- 1:46:41publishing it even being owned by
- 1:46:43Rockstar. Yes, the GTA Rockstar. Around
- 1:46:47the dawn of the millennium, Sony
- 1:46:49insiders even leaked the fact that Halo
- 1:46:51was intended to be one of the PS2's
- 1:46:53earliest releases. But of course, when
- 1:46:56Microsoft bought Bungie out in 2000, any
- 1:46:58hopes of Halo on PlayStation drifted
- 1:47:01into obscurity. Now, as far as I can
- 1:47:03tell, Bungie never came out to
- 1:47:05officially comment on this build. They
- 1:47:07never officially confirmed or denied
- 1:47:09that it existed, unlike Halo 1 DS, which
- 1:47:12they did come out and say wasn't made by
- 1:47:14them. Which means that there's very
- 1:47:17likely somebody out there, possibly even
- 1:47:19watching this video, who has an official
- 1:47:22build of Halo 1 on PS2 just sat on a
- 1:47:25hard drive somewhere. And please, if you
- 1:47:28are that person and you are watching
- 1:47:30this video, leak that build. Chiron TL34
- 1:47:34cloning facility. So, Chiron TL34 is the
- 1:47:37infamous Halo 1 map that nobody in the
- 1:47:40history of humanity can memorize the
- 1:47:42layout of. It's a series of 13 different
- 1:47:45rooms, all connected via a series of
- 1:47:48teleporters. And it's one of the most
- 1:47:50uniquely designed levels that you will
- 1:47:52ever see in a video game. But weirdly,
- 1:47:54the original Halo 1 map description for
- 1:47:57the map states that it's a Spartan clone
- 1:48:00training facility, which implies that
- 1:48:02the Spartans were at least some point
- 1:48:05clones. Obviously, they didn't end up
- 1:48:07being clones, but I got to say, in the
- 1:48:09Halo 1 E3 2000 build, Master Chief voice
- 1:48:13is notably robotic.
- 1:48:15>> Recon reporting. Hostiles have been
- 1:48:18neutralized.
- 1:48:19>> Say again. Over.
- 1:48:20>> The drop zone is clear.
- 1:48:22>> And so, I wonder if that's a leftover
- 1:48:24bit of law from a version of Halo that
- 1:48:26never saw the light of day in which
- 1:48:28instead of being kidnapped children, the
- 1:48:30Spartans were actually robotic clones.
- 1:48:33Either way, Chiron is a badass map. This
- 1:48:35map deserves a onetoone remake in the
- 1:48:38modern Halo game. The Dilap invasion of
- 1:48:41Likenstein.
- 1:48:42Nestled between Switzerland and Austria
- 1:48:45in central Europe is the principality of
- 1:48:48Lichenstein, which 13 years ago suffered
- 1:48:51an invasion by the Daidact in real life.
- 1:48:55Now, I know you're waiting for the punch
- 1:48:56line. You're waiting for me to come up
- 1:48:57with some punch line here to say like,
- 1:48:59"Oh, yeah, this happened, but it
- 1:49:00happened in a game or it happened in a
- 1:49:02commercial." But uh no, the the Daids
- 1:49:04did kind of technically invade
- 1:49:06Lichenstein. As a part of Halo 4's
- 1:49:08marketing, they projected the Daid sigil
- 1:49:10onto Gutenberg Castle, created a
- 1:49:13makeshift UNC base in the countryside
- 1:49:15surrounding it, and converted a quarry
- 1:49:17into a battleground which had Chief
- 1:49:19driving around it in a warthog. It was
- 1:49:22all part of some pretty big marketing
- 1:49:24stunt for Halo 4 where they turned a
- 1:49:26significant part of this tiny country
- 1:49:28into the actual Halo universe for an
- 1:49:30immersive adventure for a select group
- 1:49:33of fans. Now, we don't know much about
- 1:49:35this adventure, but based on the video
- 1:49:37that Xbox released, it entailed moving
- 1:49:39through the woods at night with inch
- 1:49:41character UNCC personnel, pushing up to
- 1:49:44the castle with pyrochnics and cool
- 1:49:46practical effects where they got to play
- 1:49:47Halo 4, and then witnessing another pyro
- 1:49:50showoff with Chief on the Warthog. Got
- 1:49:52to say, it's pretty crazy marketing
- 1:49:54hiring an entire country out for like a
- 1:49:56day for a marketing campaign for a game.
- 1:49:58That said though, at that point it only
- 1:50:00costs $70,000 to hire out Lichinstein,
- 1:50:03which you know, as far as hiring entire
- 1:50:06countries goes, is pretty cheap. Borin
- 1:50:09syndrome. Borin syndrome is a
- 1:50:11neurological condition that's caused by
- 1:50:13extended exposure to certain types of
- 1:50:16radiation, specifically the kinds of
- 1:50:18radiation emitted by plasma grenades and
- 1:50:20covenant carbines, and that causes
- 1:50:22tumors and extreme migraines. Except it
- 1:50:26isn't. Borin syndrome doesn't actually
- 1:50:28exist. It was actually a fake disease
- 1:50:31created by Oni to cover up the side
- 1:50:33effects of the Orion project, which was
- 1:50:36essentially the spot in one project
- 1:50:37because once the project was closed
- 1:50:39down, its candidates were dispersed back
- 1:50:41into regular military action. The tumors
- 1:50:43and migraines were in fact caused by the
- 1:50:45DNA alteration that came with the Orion
- 1:50:47augmentations, which Sergeant Johnson
- 1:50:50underwent. But this fake illness
- 1:50:52actually had a really, really useful
- 1:50:54side effect. It inadvertently acted as a
- 1:50:57deterrent against the flood. The reason
- 1:51:00that Sergeant Johnson wasn't infected on
- 1:51:02Alpha Halo was because the alterations
- 1:51:04to his neurology and DNA made it
- 1:51:06significantly harder for an infection
- 1:51:08form to actually infect him. So, they
- 1:51:11went for other easily infectible hosts
- 1:51:13instead. He's not immune. It doesn't
- 1:51:15make you immune to the flood cuz as far
- 1:51:16as we know, no immunity or vaccination
- 1:51:18exists. It just makes you far harder to
- 1:51:20infect. So, the flood focused somebody
- 1:51:22else instead. Sexy profits. Now, this is
- 1:51:25probably the most disturbing entry on
- 1:51:27this entire iceberg because there was
- 1:51:30once a time when these scrotum chin
- 1:51:32genocidal maniacs were in fact a truly
- 1:51:35beautiful species. Over 110,000 years
- 1:51:39before the Halo games, the prophets were
- 1:51:41tall, slender, and sleek, a beautiful
- 1:51:44race, strong, and sensual, intelligent,
- 1:51:48but not overly impressed by intellect,
- 1:51:50and capable of seducing other species
- 1:51:53with their almost universal beauty. Yep,
- 1:51:56you heard that right. Not only did
- 1:51:58ancient humans and foreigners find the
- 1:52:00prophets beautiful, uh, but many of them
- 1:52:03were also seduced by them. So, uh, I'll
- 1:52:06let that one simmer for a second. They
- 1:52:09eventually became the cretins that we
- 1:52:11know them as after they surrendered to
- 1:52:12the foreigners and were locked into
- 1:52:14existing on only a few select worlds
- 1:52:16where they chose to put their faith in
- 1:52:18their paraplegic elders. And eventually,
- 1:52:21they were almost all that was left of
- 1:52:23their species. Shock horror, yours
- 1:52:25truly, has already made a video about
- 1:52:26the sexy prophet. So, if you want to
- 1:52:28find out more about this ridiculously
- 1:52:30disgusting but intriguing topic, then
- 1:52:32link down below. Menddeican Bias speaks
- 1:52:35to Chief. Throughout Halo 3's terminals,
- 1:52:38Mendic Bias not only speaks to the
- 1:52:40Master Chief, but guides him as well.
- 1:52:42When the first terminal entry corrupts
- 1:52:44in the corruption log on the left hand
- 1:52:46side, among the lines of ancient code,
- 1:52:49you'll see a single string of coherent
- 1:52:51words. These are the words of mendicant
- 1:52:54bias spoken directly to the Master
- 1:52:57Chief. I see you, Reclaimer. I have
- 1:53:00found the shard that was lost. They
- 1:53:02brought it back to me. Now my
- 1:53:04reconstitution cannot be stopped. The
- 1:53:07demons are not taking a kind view of
- 1:53:09your presence here. They don't want me
- 1:53:10speaking to you. And then I win. Which
- 1:53:14is followed by the terminal network
- 1:53:15being redirected and hijacked by
- 1:53:17mendicant bias from the arcs demons. He
- 1:53:20then says, I'll tell you who I am. I am
- 1:53:23Mendicant Bias. This is what I have
- 1:53:26done. which leads into his final
- 1:53:28terminal where he reveals to Chief that
- 1:53:30he is once again betraying a former
- 1:53:33master. His first betrayal was of the
- 1:53:35foreigners as he defected to the flood.
- 1:53:37And now he's betraying the flood,
- 1:53:39defecting to humanity. He declares that
- 1:53:42he's seeking atonement for his crimes
- 1:53:44and proving to his masters that he has
- 1:53:46changed and that you will be his
- 1:53:48example. This terminal is just peak.
- 1:53:52I've been reading it since 2007 and the
- 1:53:55hairs on my arms still stand up whenever
- 1:53:57I read like well the entire thing the
- 1:54:00entire thing does that but this one
- 1:54:02passage in particular really makes him
- 1:54:04stand up. I'm not so foolish to think
- 1:54:06that this will absolve me of my sins.
- 1:54:08One life hardly balances billions. But I
- 1:54:11would have my masters know that I have
- 1:54:13changed and you shall be my example. Oh
- 1:54:17man, it's so marathon coded. Dude, I
- 1:54:20love this so much. But yeah, mendic bias
- 1:54:23is the reason that Chief survives the
- 1:54:24Wartthog run on insulation 04B. He's
- 1:54:27also the reason that Chief got split
- 1:54:28from the Arbiter and sent to Reququiam
- 1:54:30to go and wake the Daiduct up as well,
- 1:54:32which shock horror I covered in the
- 1:54:34video a year and a half ago, so link
- 1:54:36down below. Arbiter assassination
- 1:54:38attempt. 4 days after the end of Halo 1,
- 1:54:42only agent Jameson Lockach began
- 1:54:44building a target profile on the then
- 1:54:46Fel Vadom, the Supreme Commander of the
- 1:54:49Fleet of Particular Justice that we
- 1:54:51fought at Alpha Halo. The target profile
- 1:54:53contained all of his known exploits from
- 1:54:55great team's first encounter with him on
- 1:54:57the rubble to his glassing of Reach and
- 1:54:59was created with the intention of
- 1:55:01carrying out an assassination. Loach
- 1:55:04personally recommended that Thel be
- 1:55:05assassinated to try and slow down the
- 1:55:07Covenant's advance and even offered to
- 1:55:09carry out the assassination himself, but
- 1:55:11presumably because he jumped back to
- 1:55:13high charity. This assassination never
- 1:55:15happened. It all works out in the end,
- 1:55:18though. The Covenant made him the
- 1:55:19Arbiter, which led to the great schism
- 1:55:21and the elites becoming our allies and
- 1:55:23helping us end the war. So, no bad
- 1:55:25blood, right? Either way, this
- 1:55:27clandestine operation adds to the dark,
- 1:55:30only spook history of Lockach. It's just
- 1:55:33such a shame that we never actually saw
- 1:55:34that side of him in Halo 5. Lost Google
- 1:55:38Videos content. So, if like me, you now
- 1:55:41qualify for an internet veteran discount
- 1:55:43code, then you remember that before the
- 1:55:45existence of YouTube was a little site
- 1:55:47called Google Videos. Google Videos was
- 1:55:50exactly what you think it was. It was a
- 1:55:52video platform hosted within Google's
- 1:55:54own search engine that worked just like
- 1:55:56Google images does now. And it was where
- 1:55:58I saw my first ever Halo video in like
- 1:56:01early 2005. Now, I forget if it was the
- 1:56:04Halo [ __ ] music video or an early
- 1:56:06episode of Red Versus Blue or the Halo
- 1:56:08Kitty Cat Damas video. I think it might
- 1:56:10have been that. Uh, but Google Videos
- 1:56:13was in a roundabout way my gateway into
- 1:56:15Halo content creation that is now my
- 1:56:17career. Now, I remember when Google
- 1:56:19bought YouTube, they started to really
- 1:56:21hamfistly integrate it into Google video
- 1:56:23searches to the point where you'd search
- 1:56:25for a video on Google videos. And like
- 1:56:27eight times out of 10, it'll be a
- 1:56:29YouTube video that you click on and it
- 1:56:31take you to the YouTube website, which
- 1:56:32used to really piss me off cuz I wanted
- 1:56:34to watch videos in the Google search
- 1:56:36engine, not on YouTube. It's funny how
- 1:56:38things change. Eventually though, they
- 1:56:40shut down Google Videos and with it
- 1:56:43vanished a ton of real old school Halo
- 1:56:46videos from that era. videos that
- 1:56:48dominated the video part of the internet
- 1:56:50in the early to mid naughties that are
- 1:56:52now gone forever. This is my personal
- 1:56:55burning of the library of Alexandria.
- 1:56:56I'm not going to lie. Like I grew up on
- 1:56:58Google Videos watching like Halo stuff
- 1:57:00and loads of random other stuff on there
- 1:57:02as well. And knowing that that's all
- 1:57:04gone and will never come back is is
- 1:57:06quite depressing. I still mourn Google
- 1:57:08videos's passing to this very day. Four
- 1:57:10and a skeleton on Earth. So, we already
- 1:57:13covered Halo 2's original ending, but
- 1:57:15this entry specifically pertains to the
- 1:57:17skeleton that the Arbiter finds in the
- 1:57:19foreigner casket in the Ark. Of course,
- 1:57:21at this point, the Ark was actually what
- 1:57:23became the Ark portal. So, it was Invoy
- 1:57:25in Africa. And at the base of this
- 1:57:28structure were a bunch of foreigner
- 1:57:29tombs that when they were opened had
- 1:57:31human skeletons in them that confirmed
- 1:57:33that the humans and foreigners were the
- 1:57:35same thing. And I got to say, if Bungie
- 1:57:37were ever to do an official like very
- 1:57:40overt reveal of the humans being
- 1:57:41foreigners, because they wanted to kind
- 1:57:43of keep it low-key and and implicit and
- 1:57:45imply it, but never like fully hard
- 1:57:47confirm it because then the mystery goes
- 1:57:49out the window. But if they ever did
- 1:57:51choose to do like a real overt
- 1:57:52confirmation of it, this way would have
- 1:57:54been awesome. Imagine imagine a gameplay
- 1:57:57segment like where you're playing as the
- 1:57:58arbiter and you walk into this tomb room
- 1:58:00and you get like a button prompter like
- 1:58:02hold X to open casket and you open it
- 1:58:05and it's a very obviously foreigner a
- 1:58:06casket but you see a human skeleton
- 1:58:08inside. How cool would that have been?
- 1:58:10Man, I'm happy we got Halo 3 in the end,
- 1:58:13but at the same time this ending would
- 1:58:14have been so cool. Blair Witch in the
- 1:58:17swamp. So, really far out of bounds of
- 1:58:19the swamp of 343 Guilty Spark, there's a
- 1:58:22single lone marine unarmed, just
- 1:58:24standing in the fog all alone. When
- 1:58:27people first found this, given that the
- 1:58:29level's obviously got an already creepy
- 1:58:31vibe, and also the fact that there's a
- 1:58:33ton of dead flood out there that you
- 1:58:34can't physically see unless you break
- 1:58:36out the map, they thought that this was
- 1:58:39some extension of the level's horror.
- 1:58:41But it's not. This is just Mendoza's
- 1:58:43model loaded in before the cut scene.
- 1:58:45However, in Halo 1 Anniversary, this
- 1:58:48little oddity takes a bit of a darker
- 1:58:50twist. Now, I don't know if this was
- 1:58:52intentional or was just a dark little
- 1:58:54accident, but in anniversary graphics,
- 1:58:56they placed a tree right in front of
- 1:58:59Mendoza, making him look like a victim
- 1:59:01of the Blair Witch. So, if you've never
- 1:59:03seen the Blair Witch Project before,
- 1:59:05then firstly, go and watch it. And
- 1:59:06secondly, the idea is that when the
- 1:59:08Blair Witch kind of possesses you or
- 1:59:10gets a hold of you, she makes you stand
- 1:59:12in a corner upright, perfectly still,
- 1:59:15just facing the corner, totally silent,
- 1:59:18and then moving, which is exactly what
- 1:59:20Mendoza is doing in Halo 1 Anniversary.
- 1:59:23Was this just a dark little accident, or
- 1:59:25did someone at Saber Interactive know
- 1:59:27about this old school urban legend and
- 1:59:29decide to turn it into an even darker
- 1:59:32Easter egg? I'll let you decide.
- 1:59:34waterbborne flood infection. And to
- 1:59:37round out the midnight facility tier,
- 1:59:39tier five, we have a potentially
- 1:59:41horrifying implication about the flood
- 1:59:43that Halo's law seems to have entirely
- 1:59:46glossed over. And it all stems from this
- 1:59:48tank on the Oracle in Halo 2. So, this
- 1:59:52area of the gas mine was actually a
- 1:59:54flood laboratory where the foreigners
- 1:59:56stored a litany of flood samples and had
- 1:59:58numerous testing rooms. But for what
- 2:00:00purpose, we don't know. One of the few
- 2:00:02things that we do know, however, is that
- 2:00:04clearly they were investigating the
- 2:00:06flood's ability to exist in water, which
- 2:00:09clearly they're able to do. Now, given
- 2:00:12that almost every flood form naturally
- 2:00:14secretes the flood supercell, which the
- 2:00:16ingestion of is all that's needed to
- 2:00:18begin infecting a host, these flood
- 2:00:20entities, so easily existing in water.
- 2:00:23water that, mind you, is an awfully
- 2:00:25fitting flood green color implies that
- 2:00:28they're able to infect bodies of water
- 2:00:30by secretreting the supercell into it.
- 2:00:32If an ocean were to be infected, then
- 2:00:34anyone who goes in the ocean water would
- 2:00:37stand a significant chance of being
- 2:00:39infected thanks to the supercell. And
- 2:00:41the thought of that is frankly
- 2:00:43terrifying. We already know that the
- 2:00:45flood can consume fauna and natural
- 2:00:47environments on land. But to be able to
- 2:00:49spread the infection through water makes
- 2:00:52them infinitely more dangerous than they
- 2:00:54already are. Just imagine, right? Your
- 2:00:56planet is suffering from a cataclysmic
- 2:00:58flood outbreak, but you happen to live
- 2:01:00on an island surrounded by a body of
- 2:01:02water. You think you're safe, right?
- 2:01:05Well, imagine if the flood infected that
- 2:01:07entire body of water that surrounds your
- 2:01:10island. Pretty terrifying, I got to say.
- 2:01:12I really hope that this implication
- 2:01:14actually gets canonized at some point
- 2:01:16because I'd love to see a horror story
- 2:01:17based around that.
- 2:01:20So, welcome to the penultimate tier,
- 2:01:22tier six, which is called the composed
- 2:01:24tier. And for this tier, I have done my
- 2:01:26final costume change. As you can see,
- 2:01:28I've dim the lights in my my big office,
- 2:01:31which is just my bedroom. And uh I've
- 2:01:34decided to put on the ultimate shirt.
- 2:01:36We're going to spiral out, my friends.
- 2:01:37We are going to look at some of the
- 2:01:39creepiest things, well, the creepiest
- 2:01:40things on this iceberg. I've got my
- 2:01:42coffee. Let's go. Starting off tier six,
- 2:01:45we have Jason Jones went missing. And
- 2:01:48we're starting off this tier with a
- 2:01:50rather dark urban legend that went round
- 2:01:52my friend group specifically back in the
- 2:01:54days of Halo 3. That being that the
- 2:01:56Jason Jones Easter egg in Halo 3 was
- 2:01:58added to the game by Bungie developers
- 2:02:01to honor one of their friends and fellow
- 2:02:03developers who went missing during the
- 2:02:05game's development and was never found.
- 2:02:07Now, obviously, this isn't the case
- 2:02:09because that Easter egg is also present
- 2:02:10in Halo 2, and it's just, well, that's
- 2:02:12not the case. That's not why it was
- 2:02:14added. But myself and my entire friend
- 2:02:16group who I played Halo 3 with, and
- 2:02:18actually other friend groups that I met
- 2:02:19through Halo 3 that mix with my friend
- 2:02:21group all kind of just believe this. And
- 2:02:24I mean, when you consider that out of
- 2:02:25bounds in this near pitch black corner
- 2:02:28of a dark, deserted foreigner facility
- 2:02:30that you were never meant to find,
- 2:02:31there's this half naked guy just
- 2:02:34floating there, hangs behind his head as
- 2:02:36if he's about to be executed. Well, the
- 2:02:39Easter egg is pretty damn creepy if you
- 2:02:41stumble across it without any backstory.
- 2:02:43Honestly, the whole design of this area
- 2:02:45of Halo just feels unsettling. It feels
- 2:02:49truly like something that you were never
- 2:02:50meant to find. and the Jason Jones
- 2:02:52Easter egg is just the cherry on top.
- 2:02:55This urban legend added a really dark
- 2:02:57twinge to this Easter egg and also this
- 2:02:59entire area. And although I know that
- 2:03:01it's not true, I just can't shake that
- 2:03:04dark twinge that it added. Rage virus
- 2:03:06flood. So in Alice Garland's Halo
- 2:03:08script, the way that he wrote the flood,
- 2:03:10specifically in our first encounter with
- 2:03:12them during 343 Guilty Spark, was almost
- 2:03:16identical to the way that he wrote the
- 2:03:17rage infected in 28 Days Later. Lots of
- 2:03:20aggressive cuts and visceral camera
- 2:03:22angles from the perspective of the
- 2:03:23infected sprinting towards the Marines.
- 2:03:26It's all just so perfect. The scene
- 2:03:28itself was a bit different in the movie.
- 2:03:30It was actually Major Silva, one of the
- 2:03:32ODSTs, who went down to the facility
- 2:03:34instead of the Marines. And the script
- 2:03:36goes as follows. A noise from somewhere
- 2:03:38in the darkness, a scuttling or
- 2:03:40slithering. All beams sweep in that area
- 2:03:43and find nothing. Now a noise from the
- 2:03:47other direction and the beams sweep
- 2:03:49again and again. Find nothing. Hell
- 2:03:52Jumper Major. I'm telling you this
- 2:03:54feeling is real bad. Now cut back to
- 2:03:57some distance from the group of special
- 2:03:58forces. We can see them. A little pocket
- 2:04:01of light in the otherwise huge dark
- 2:04:04space. A beat. Then suddenly the
- 2:04:07slithering scuttling sound is right
- 2:04:09beside us in our ear. And the next
- 2:04:12moment we start to move towards the
- 2:04:14group of special forces covering the
- 2:04:16distance at amazing speed. And as we are
- 2:04:18within 20 m, the beams sweep towards us,
- 2:04:21blinding us and illuminating us. And we
- 2:04:23see the soldiers opening fire. Then the
- 2:04:26fear on their faces. But we continue
- 2:04:28towards them at the same break neck
- 2:04:30speed, closing in on the face of Captain
- 2:04:33Keys, eyes bulging as he blazes his
- 2:04:35assault rifle into his eyes.
- 2:04:38This is one of a few examples from this
- 2:04:41script, but given that the Halo movie
- 2:04:42script was more than likely the first
- 2:04:44script that Alex Golan wrote after
- 2:04:46rapping on 28 Days Later, you can really
- 2:04:49just see the influence from 28 Days and
- 2:04:51the Rage Infected oozing into the way
- 2:04:53that he wrote The Flood. You guys know
- 2:04:56full well that I am a diehard fan of the
- 2:04:5828 series, but 28 Days in particular,
- 2:05:01and I will forever be depressed that we
- 2:05:03never got to see Alex's vision of the
- 2:05:05Halo universe, specifically of the
- 2:05:07Flood. Writing combat forms and
- 2:05:09infection forms like the rage infected
- 2:05:12is just so perfect. The real life Halo
- 2:05:15cult. In 2007, a cult took to time
- 2:05:18square armed with flyers and placards
- 2:05:21adorned with ancient symbols to preach
- 2:05:23their truth. This cult are called the
- 2:05:26society of the ancients. And they
- 2:05:28believed that a series of unexplainable
- 2:05:31events and artifacts dotted throughout
- 2:05:33human history were actually the doing of
- 2:05:35an ancient race of alien visitors who
- 2:05:38came to Earth and either helped us
- 2:05:40create them or in some way helped
- 2:05:43expedite our technological evolution.
- 2:05:45They site things like various crop
- 2:05:47circles, the anti-therero mechanism,
- 2:05:49which is an ancient Greek handpowered
- 2:05:51AI, and an outofplace 110
- 2:05:55millionyear-old human handprint, which
- 2:05:57is impossible given that modern
- 2:05:59scientific evidence dictates that we, as
- 2:06:01a species, are only 300,000 years old.
- 2:06:05And well, as we know, based in Halo, at
- 2:06:07least, the Society of the Ancients were
- 2:06:09on to something. Their existence was
- 2:06:11part of Halo 3's marketing, which
- 2:06:13focused heavily on the human foreigner
- 2:06:15connection. And this cult had
- 2:06:17unknowingly collected evidence that
- 2:06:19reveals humanity's true nature, the fact
- 2:06:21that we were once the foreigners.
- 2:06:23Weaving this into the real world by
- 2:06:25creating a realworld Halo cult that went
- 2:06:28out into the world to preach about this
- 2:06:30stuff was so awesome. I made a whole
- 2:06:33video about these guys last year. Shock
- 2:06:34horror, link down below in the
- 2:06:36description. Bungie's ability to connect
- 2:06:38an in-game conspiracy with realworld
- 2:06:40conspiracies and have that in-game
- 2:06:42conspiracy become a part of our real
- 2:06:44world was just awesome. The Society of
- 2:06:48the Ancients are my favorite bit of
- 2:06:50obscure Halo lore. And yeah, although
- 2:06:52this iteration of them was only part of
- 2:06:54a marketing campaign, I like to imagine
- 2:06:56that maybe one of the people who took
- 2:06:58one of the flyers they were handing out
- 2:06:59in Time Square that day went home, had a
- 2:07:02good read of the flyer, and thought,
- 2:07:04"You know what? This makes a lot of
- 2:07:06sense and started their own cult off the
- 2:07:08back of it. You never know. The flood is
- 2:07:11life. So this is in reference to one of
- 2:07:14the more disturbing elements of the
- 2:07:15flood that's in relation to the logic
- 2:07:17plague which we are going to come to in
- 2:07:19a minute. And that's the fact that the
- 2:07:21flood is at least theoretically the next
- 2:07:25step in evolution. During Halo 3's
- 2:07:28terminals, when the gravemind corrupts
- 2:07:29mendicanin bias, it says the complexity
- 2:07:32of our spread and our appearance ushered
- 2:07:35in the beginning of the third stage of
- 2:07:37evolution. Then once corrupted, mendic
- 2:07:40bias says, "My creators chose to remain
- 2:07:43beholden to ancient myths. It does not
- 2:07:46matter where they claim their authority
- 2:07:47originates. It obstructs the path of
- 2:07:49universal evolution and must be removed.
- 2:07:52their obstinency in the face of the
- 2:07:54inevitable progression of nature can no
- 2:07:56longer be tolerated. So one of the truth
- 2:08:00nes so to speak that the grave mind and
- 2:08:02the flood gives to non-biologicals when
- 2:08:04trying to infect them with a logic
- 2:08:05plague is the seemingly irrefutable
- 2:08:07proof that they are indeed the next step
- 2:08:09in the galaxy's evolution. that mystical
- 2:08:12third step which is pretty terrifying.
- 2:08:15And by extension, it also refers to the
- 2:08:17fact that unlike any other species in
- 2:08:19existence, the flood represents total
- 2:08:21and utter unity and also are inevitable.
- 2:08:25In primordium, the primordial who of
- 2:08:28course was the one of the last
- 2:08:29precursors and the first gravemind says,
- 2:08:32"We are the flood until all space and
- 2:08:34time are rolled up and life is crushed
- 2:08:37in the folds. No end to war, grief, or
- 2:08:40pain. In 101,000 centuries, unity again,
- 2:08:45and wisdom until then, sweetness.
- 2:08:49Sweetness to the primordial is akin to
- 2:08:51grief. It sees the two as the same
- 2:08:53thing. And so, what it's saying here is
- 2:08:55that there will never be true unity in
- 2:08:57the galaxy before the inevitable
- 2:08:59collapse of the universe. his sides with
- 2:09:01the flood. They're a hive mind with no
- 2:09:04sense of individual thought. So there
- 2:09:06can never be any bickering or any kind
- 2:09:08of inner conflicts. They're one mind in
- 2:09:11a 100,000 bodies regardless of the
- 2:09:13species those bodies come from. The Ross
- 2:09:16Ziegler effect.
- 2:09:18The Ross Zagler effect or the Ross
- 2:09:20Zagler blip was a stratographic event
- 2:09:22that was discovered on Earth and various
- 2:09:24other planets in 2332.
- 2:09:27So strategraphy is a branch of geology
- 2:09:29that's concerned with the study of rock
- 2:09:31layers and layering and is typically
- 2:09:33used to find and date fossils. So this
- 2:09:37discovery, this event dated back over a
- 2:09:39100,000 years. But at the time of its
- 2:09:42discovery, there was no data that
- 2:09:44supported any kind of mass extinction
- 2:09:46event happening at that time. Nor was
- 2:09:48there really any reason to logically
- 2:09:50assume that one could have happened
- 2:09:52because there was a total lack of any
- 2:09:54fossil evidence. As such, this blip was
- 2:09:56simply dismissed as a spatial
- 2:09:58distortion. At least it was until our
- 2:10:01discovery of our ancestors and the
- 2:10:03firing of the halos at the end of the
- 2:10:05400 war, which ended up being the
- 2:10:07explanation for this blip. It was simply
- 2:10:09the byproduct of the mass destruction of
- 2:10:11biomass and sentient life when the halos
- 2:10:14fired. This blip fascinates me cuz
- 2:10:16imagine making a fairly major scientific
- 2:10:19discovery that's completely
- 2:10:21unexplainable. And then it turns out
- 2:10:23that it actually is explainable and that
- 2:10:25the explanation was that it was caused
- 2:10:27by the genocidal conclusion of your
- 2:10:29ancestors galactic war against an
- 2:10:32allconsuming zombie parasite. And for
- 2:10:34that discovery to be made on your home
- 2:10:36planet nonetheless pretty freaky. The
- 2:10:40logic plague. The logic plague is, I
- 2:10:43think, the most terrifying form of flood
- 2:10:46infection. Yes, physical infection is
- 2:10:48horrific and agonizingly painful, but
- 2:10:50the implications of the logic plague go
- 2:10:53far beyond physical pain. The logic
- 2:10:56plague is the flood's way of infecting
- 2:10:57non-biological hosts or of inducing a
- 2:11:00sort of psychosis in biological hosts.
- 2:11:03It's essentially anformational parasite
- 2:11:05designed to corrupt the motivations of
- 2:11:07its victims. It's delivered through
- 2:11:09philosophical means of corruption.
- 2:11:12Essentially, it's structured as a very
- 2:11:14wellthoughtout and convincing argument
- 2:11:16backed up with indisputable facts
- 2:11:18sourced from the domain, the precursor
- 2:11:21wealth of ancient knowledge that grave
- 2:11:23minds readily have access to. When used
- 2:11:25against AIS, specifically smart AIs, it
- 2:11:28exploits the ideological basis of their
- 2:11:30programming which is imparted onto them
- 2:11:32by their creators. against foreigner AI
- 2:11:35specifically. The gravemind sourced
- 2:11:37information from the domain which was
- 2:11:39seen as sacred by their creators and so
- 2:11:41they had no reason to doubt it. But it
- 2:11:43can also be used as a means of torture
- 2:11:45against smart AIs as was the case with
- 2:11:48Cortana in Halo 3. Dumb AIs and computer
- 2:11:51networks are also susceptible as well
- 2:11:53through means unknown. It can be used to
- 2:11:56corrupt entire networks against
- 2:11:58biologicals. It can send them insane and
- 2:12:01break their will as was the case with
- 2:12:03the died act. But the most notable
- 2:12:05victim of the logic plague was handsdown
- 2:12:08mendicant bias, the AI in charge of the
- 2:12:11foreigner's entire military effort
- 2:12:13against the flood who was corrupted by
- 2:12:15the gravemind and was the main reason
- 2:12:17that the war ended so violently. The
- 2:12:19logic plague is typically imparted by a
- 2:12:21gravemind, but as the flood evolve, it
- 2:12:24can be spread by just about any flood
- 2:12:26form. combat forms included because the
- 2:12:28gravemind can speak through them and
- 2:12:30convey the logic plague through them.
- 2:12:32And the implications of that are
- 2:12:34terrifying. One horde of combat forms
- 2:12:37are all it would take for an entire
- 2:12:39computer network or an entire
- 2:12:41organization of AIS to be infected by
- 2:12:43the parasite. Theformational power that
- 2:12:45the flood can achieve via the logic
- 2:12:47plague is staggering and it ends up
- 2:12:49being the main means of accelerated
- 2:12:51evolution towards the end of their
- 2:12:53evolutionary cycle. The composer's
- 2:12:56abyss. The composer was one of the most
- 2:12:58terrifying and excruciatingly painful
- 2:13:01devices in the foreigner's tool set. It
- 2:13:03was designed to allow the transition of
- 2:13:05one's soul from a physical form to a
- 2:13:08digital form and was used on mass by the
- 2:13:11died when creating his Prometheian
- 2:13:12knight to try and combat the flood. But
- 2:13:15once a victim goes through the
- 2:13:16agonizingly painful process of
- 2:13:18composition, where does their soul go?
- 2:13:21The composer's abyss. Originally located
- 2:13:24on installation 03, the abyss is a
- 2:13:26cavernous room with a walkway, flanked
- 2:13:29by two walls full of the wailing souls
- 2:13:32of those composed, stuck in this limbo
- 2:13:34state, unable to leave and without
- 2:13:37purpose until the end of eternity. Now,
- 2:13:40on its own, the abyss is pretty
- 2:13:42horrific, but there's a bit in Dante's
- 2:13:44Inferno that I can't find for the life
- 2:13:46of me. I don't know why, that is an
- 2:13:47almost onetoone description of the
- 2:13:49abyss. It's an area that's deep within
- 2:13:52hell where souls are a fix for the
- 2:13:54walls. It's a really similar
- 2:13:55description, which is where I think they
- 2:13:57got the idea from. It always blew me
- 2:13:59away that in Halo Escalation, when blue
- 2:14:01team go through the abyss, even though
- 2:14:02they're only in it for like, I don't
- 2:14:04know, 30 seconds, the actual horror of
- 2:14:07what's going on in this facility that
- 2:14:08they're in kind of just goes over their
- 2:14:10heads. And it's also forgotten at the
- 2:14:12end as well. No one goes back to it,
- 2:14:14which I found pretty crazy cuz I mean,
- 2:14:16this art is terrifying, man. Like
- 2:14:18imagine hearing those souls wailing for
- 2:14:19you when you're walking through there.
- 2:14:22I'm good. I'm good. Thanks. Asteroidia
- 2:14:25experiments. Asteroidia Merzoite was a
- 2:14:28highly virulent parasitic disease that
- 2:14:30was native to the world of Burugi which
- 2:14:32in 2538 suffered a severe outbreak of it
- 2:14:36at one of its major schools. 10,000
- 2:14:38students were infected and only nine
- 2:14:41survived. specifically those of
- 2:14:43mutations that cause phthaloismia, a
- 2:14:45rare blood disorder that reduces the
- 2:14:47production of hemoglobin. The outbreak
- 2:14:50caused so much damage that the school
- 2:14:51was shut down in 2541 and then the
- 2:14:54entire colony of Barugi was placed under
- 2:14:57biohazard quarantine. A quarantine so
- 2:14:59severe that the entire planet was
- 2:15:01surrounded by thermonuclear mines and
- 2:15:03also blockade beacons were placed around
- 2:15:05it as well to warn off any approaching
- 2:15:07ships. Initially, what happened at
- 2:15:09Barooi was public record, but in 2553 it
- 2:15:13was classified and asteroidia research
- 2:15:15was moved to the Argent Moon, one of
- 2:15:18Oni's many non-existent research
- 2:15:20stations where yet another outbreak
- 2:15:22occurred where the Asteroidia was
- 2:15:24vaporized and spread throughout the
- 2:15:26ship's air vents. Everybody on board was
- 2:15:28killed. Some instantly liquidized from
- 2:15:31the inside, others taking hours to die.
- 2:15:34The purpose of Oni's research was to
- 2:15:36turn Asteroidia into a boweapon, which
- 2:15:39they were testing specifically on live
- 2:15:41jackals and also other unknown creatures
- 2:15:44as well. The jackals were killed
- 2:15:46instantly, but the other creatures grew
- 2:15:48hideous growths and bone malfformations.
- 2:15:51Had they been successful, the efficacy
- 2:15:53of weaponized asteroidia would have been
- 2:15:56astronomical. With this airborne
- 2:15:58variant, Oi would have been able to
- 2:16:00annihilate entire planets at the drop of
- 2:16:02a hat. But thankfully, blue team
- 2:16:04scuttled the station before they could
- 2:16:06do so. Lingling's head. So, Lingling's
- 2:16:09head is the first of the two pieces of
- 2:16:13extremely disturbing Bungee law.
- 2:16:16Lingling wasn't so much Bungie's dog,
- 2:16:19but rather the decapitated head of a dog
- 2:16:22that somewhere in the Bungee officers
- 2:16:24they kept in a jar of fldahhide. It's
- 2:16:27said to have some kind of mystical
- 2:16:28significance, and under no circumstances
- 2:16:31should you ever open the jar and dare to
- 2:16:34drink the headwater down in one mighty
- 2:16:36draft. At one point, Lingling's head
- 2:16:39went missing, and recovering it was
- 2:16:40considered step five on Bungie's Seven
- 2:16:42Steps of World Domination, a step which
- 2:16:45was clearly completed. Now, Lingling's
- 2:16:47head makes an appearance on Zamzar, and
- 2:16:49also it's halo to anniversary remake,
- 2:16:52Stonetown. It's also in Reach's tribute
- 2:16:54room and is an avatar on bungee.net. net
- 2:16:56along with being present in some other
- 2:16:58weird places as well. Now, if you hadn't
- 2:17:01already noticed, no, Bungie didn't keep
- 2:17:03an actual decapitated head of a dog in a
- 2:17:05jar of familahhide in their offices.
- 2:17:07This is just some weird bit of Bungie
- 2:17:10law that bled into the games. As is the
- 2:17:13next entry, the disembodied soul who was
- 2:17:16a core part of bungee.net for 15 years.
- 2:17:19This creature was said to be either the
- 2:17:20tortured soul of the person who pirated
- 2:17:23and leaked one of Marathon's betas or
- 2:17:25the soul of the one who printed the
- 2:17:27wrong labels and stuck them on 1500
- 2:17:30Marathon Infinity CDs. More than likely
- 2:17:32the latter. According to the web master
- 2:17:34that we covered all the way back in the
- 2:17:36first tier, Bungie captured the idiot
- 2:17:38who was responsible for this misprinting
- 2:17:40and sucked his soul into their web
- 2:17:42server where he's damned to answer tech
- 2:17:45support questions in his incredibly
- 2:17:47brain deadad fashion for 24 hours a day
- 2:17:50for all of eternity. They also encourage
- 2:17:52users to torment the disembodied soul
- 2:17:54whenever they'd like. Now, apparently
- 2:17:57Sketch was the one who held the former
- 2:17:59body of the soul down, whilst other
- 2:18:01employees of Bungie used the soul
- 2:18:04extraction machine to suck his soul out
- 2:18:08and put it in the Bungie servers. Old
- 2:18:11school Bungie law is literally insane. I
- 2:18:15don't mean that figuratively or in like
- 2:18:16a modern sense. I mean it in the most
- 2:18:19textbook Oxford dictionary definition of
- 2:18:22insanity. It was insane. Time travel.
- 2:18:26So, contrary to at least modern popular
- 2:18:28belief, time travel is actually
- 2:18:30something that has existed in Halo
- 2:18:32pretty much since the get-go. In First
- 2:18:35Strike, Hoy and the surviving Spartans
- 2:18:37on Reach find this foreigner crystal
- 2:18:39with extreme space-time warping
- 2:18:41capabilities. This crystal ended up
- 2:18:43actually being the source of the ark
- 2:18:45portal on Reach that we found out about
- 2:18:47in Shadows of Reach. when Master Chief
- 2:18:49and the other survivors of Alpha Halo
- 2:18:51arrived back at Reach to rescue them.
- 2:18:53Thanks to the Crystal's properties,
- 2:18:55they'd actually traveled back in time.
- 2:18:57So, they left Alpha Halo on September
- 2:18:5922nd and arrived at Reach on September
- 2:19:037th, effectively going back more than 2
- 2:19:06weeks in time. That's the most kind of
- 2:19:08conventional means of time travel, but
- 2:19:10of course, there's also slip space as
- 2:19:12well, which is at least an indirect
- 2:19:14means of time travel, but that's mostly
- 2:19:16down to how cryo works. Because slit
- 2:19:18space travel can obviously take a very
- 2:19:20long time. Going into cryo during the
- 2:19:22jump is very common. But the whole point
- 2:19:24of cryo is that it essentially pauses
- 2:19:27the aging of your body. So say a
- 2:19:2925-year-old under goes 2 years of cryo
- 2:19:32and wakes up in their 27th year. Well,
- 2:19:35as far as aging is concerned, they're
- 2:19:37still 25, but calendar-wise they're 27.
- 2:19:41But then of course there's the more
- 2:19:42recent example of time travel which I'm
- 2:19:45using very loosely pertaining to the
- 2:19:47endless and also that random portal that
- 2:19:50opens up when the chief killed the
- 2:19:51harbinger in Halo Infinite. When you
- 2:19:53jump through that portal you end up on
- 2:19:55the complete opposite side of the ring
- 2:19:57with mere seconds passed. But then the
- 2:20:00weapon says that 3 days have passed
- 2:20:02since you went through the portal which
- 2:20:04of course implies some kind of time
- 2:20:06travel. Now we don't know if this has
- 2:20:08anything to do with the endless yet. I
- 2:20:10really don't know why some people are
- 2:20:11adamant that the endless are time
- 2:20:13travelers or something like I don't know
- 2:20:15where that's come from because this
- 2:20:16portal very clearly wasn't opened by the
- 2:20:18endless. My head cannon is that it was
- 2:20:20actually open by offensive bias to save
- 2:20:22Chief now that the endless have been
- 2:20:23freed. Uh but I guess we're going to
- 2:20:25have to wait and see if that's actually
- 2:20:26the case in god knows how many years
- 2:20:28when Halo 7 comes out. But then there's
- 2:20:30also one more example of time travel
- 2:20:32which again is a bit of a weird one and
- 2:20:34it's also the oldest one in the entirety
- 2:20:36of Halo lore. So when the foreigners
- 2:20:39killed the primordial, they put him in a
- 2:20:41time capsule which within they're able
- 2:20:43to manipulate time and they basically
- 2:20:45accelerated time by I think it was
- 2:20:47millions or maybe even billions of years
- 2:20:49to rapidly age the primordial within and
- 2:20:52essentially age him into dust. Yeah,
- 2:20:54it's no like back to the future style of
- 2:20:57time travel, but technically the
- 2:20:59primordial traveled forward like
- 2:21:00millions or billions of years in that
- 2:21:02process and of course died in the
- 2:21:04process as well. The Battle of October
- 2:21:0710th. The Battle of October 10th was an
- 2:21:10extremely weird naval battle that took
- 2:21:12place on shock horror October 10th, 2552
- 2:21:16between the events of Halo 1 and Halo 2.
- 2:21:19Just 10 days before the Covenant invaded
- 2:21:21Earth, Battle Group Rhino of the UNC's
- 2:21:24Third Fleet detected 12 large
- 2:21:26unidentified vessels in the Soul System,
- 2:21:29broadcasting outdated civilian IFFF
- 2:21:32codes. When Rhino approached these
- 2:21:34vessels, 11 of them immediately jumped
- 2:21:37into slip space, and Rhino engaged the
- 2:21:40last one. It actually managed to take
- 2:21:41out one of Rhino's ships, which suffered
- 2:21:43whole breaches and also boarding
- 2:21:46parties. Battle group Rhino then
- 2:21:48disengaged and regrouped, but they
- 2:21:50weren't allowed to re-engage again. And
- 2:21:53just like that, the battle of October
- 2:21:5410th was over. What happened to that one
- 2:21:57ship they engaged is unknown. But the
- 2:21:59bigger question and the much weirder
- 2:22:01oddity that comes from this is who the
- 2:22:04hell did these ships belong to? For them
- 2:22:05to be entirely unknown to the UNC and
- 2:22:08also capable of FTL travel makes me
- 2:22:11think that they may have been some
- 2:22:13random mysterious species from a
- 2:22:15far-flung galaxy that accidentally
- 2:22:17wandered onto humanity's backyard. Maybe
- 2:22:20they were the same species that crashed
- 2:22:21on installation 04. Whether it is or
- 2:22:24isn't though, this is such a strange
- 2:22:26piece of Halo lore that we've not had
- 2:22:29any elaboration about since, and
- 2:22:31frankly, I don't think we ever will do.
- 2:22:34Unused gore textures. So, in almost
- 2:22:37every Bungie Halo game, there exists
- 2:22:39secret gore textures that you never see
- 2:22:42because obviously the games don't have
- 2:22:44dismemberment, as much as I wish they
- 2:22:45did. In Halo 1, the Grins had textures
- 2:22:48for being beheaded, and the Marines had
- 2:22:50a special mangled texture where their
- 2:22:52chest cavity was torn open, which is
- 2:22:54presumably food related, like the
- 2:22:55mangled elite. Halo 2 Spartans and
- 2:22:58elites had gore textures hidden within
- 2:23:00their arms. Halo 3's rats of all
- 2:23:02creatures had inner textures, which
- 2:23:04hinted at rat dismemberment, and Reaches
- 2:23:06elites had stomach textures. I do wonder
- 2:23:09why Bungie made these, cuz as far as we
- 2:23:10know, they never had any intention of
- 2:23:12adding like Gears of War style
- 2:23:14dismemberment. So, why would they add
- 2:23:16these textures? Strange. The true nature
- 2:23:19of the flood. The Halo games, of course,
- 2:23:22convey the flood as ancient, albeit
- 2:23:24terrifying, cosmic zombies, but the
- 2:23:27actual reality of them is so much more
- 2:23:29creepy. Something that I like to do with
- 2:23:31quite a lot of Halo lore is imagine if
- 2:23:33it was real. Like, imagine if it was
- 2:23:35happening or if it was discovered in
- 2:23:37real life. And if you do this with the
- 2:23:39flood, as if they weren't already creepy
- 2:23:41enough, well, their creepiness is dialed
- 2:23:44up to 11. So, of course, the flood were
- 2:23:46born from the corrupted remnants of the
- 2:23:48precursors, who returned to bring
- 2:23:50vengeance to those who genocided them,
- 2:23:52the foreigners. But it's the precursors
- 2:23:54themselves that are at the core of this
- 2:23:56entry. They are literally the gods of
- 2:23:59the Halo universe. Everything that we
- 2:24:01believe an omnipotent god is and does,
- 2:24:04the precursors essentially were. They
- 2:24:06were the creators of all life in the
- 2:24:08universe, the creators of everything
- 2:24:10that we know and hold dear and they
- 2:24:14became zombies. Now, imagine if nowadays
- 2:24:18we found objective, indisputable proof
- 2:24:21that not only is or was God a real
- 2:24:24entity, but that some part of that God
- 2:24:28or God-like species corrupted and
- 2:24:30created a species of zombies that our
- 2:24:33ancestors waged a galactic war to stop
- 2:24:37and reset the entire galaxy to prevent
- 2:24:40from consuming the entire thing. To me,
- 2:24:42that's such a terrifying and
- 2:24:45simultaneously earthshattering
- 2:24:47realization.
- 2:24:49And yet, in Halo, it's true. You know, I
- 2:24:52do wonder how any members of Oni who may
- 2:24:54be religious reacted when they
- 2:24:56discovered this information. Like, did
- 2:24:58it further cement their faith? Did it
- 2:24:59make them turn on their faith and their
- 2:25:01beliefs? Some really interesting food
- 2:25:03for thought there. The Far Isle
- 2:25:05Massacre. So, the massacre on Far is
- 2:25:09probably one of the top three worst
- 2:25:11things that the UNC and I guess by
- 2:25:13extension on have ever done. In 2492,
- 2:25:17the insurrection was at its peak. Civil
- 2:25:19unrest was rife among the outer
- 2:25:21colonies. The centralized United Earth
- 2:25:23government was deeply despised, leading
- 2:25:26to civilian revolts on multiple planets,
- 2:25:29including the colony of Farle. The
- 2:25:31unrest on Far Ale got so bad that it was
- 2:25:34proving almost impossible to contain.
- 2:25:36And so instead of just abandoning the
- 2:25:38world or trying to come to some sort of
- 2:25:40bargain deal with the rebellion, the UNC
- 2:25:43went straight to Defcon 1. They
- 2:25:46unleashed their entire nuclear arsenal
- 2:25:48on the colony, raising it to the ground
- 2:25:51and killing almost every single civilian
- 2:25:54in a raging nuclear fire. This only
- 2:25:57worsened rebellions on other colonies,
- 2:25:59having the adverse effect to what the
- 2:26:01UEG actually wanted. And so they killed
- 2:26:04potentially billions of dissenting
- 2:26:05civilians for nothing. I think when it
- 2:26:08comes to containing some kind of civil
- 2:26:09unrest, using a nuke might be the worst
- 2:26:13possible way to go about that. The
- 2:26:15reality of the flood outbreak on High
- 2:26:18Charity. So, the flood outbreak on High
- 2:26:20Charity is something that we only
- 2:26:22experience very briefly and also in a
- 2:26:24very, very small section of the holy
- 2:26:26city. Yeah, it definitely has its
- 2:26:28moments of horror in Halo 2, like
- 2:26:30specifically when you go down into the
- 2:26:32dark, flood-filled hallways. Yeah,
- 2:26:34that's pretty creepy, but what we see in
- 2:26:36the game is only a fraction of the
- 2:26:39overall outbreak. We spend all of our
- 2:26:41time in Halo 2 in the prophet's upper
- 2:26:43region, but if you gaze off the side of
- 2:26:45the map, you'll see the entire city of
- 2:26:48the ship, which makes up the bulk of its
- 2:26:50population. So within that city lived
- 2:26:5323.8 million profit civilians and brace
- 2:26:56yourself, 7.7
- 2:26:59billion civilians of all the other
- 2:27:01Covenant species. And that entire city
- 2:27:04was infected. So, let's say that the
- 2:27:07flood used, I don't know, 30% of the
- 2:27:09overall population for just raw biomass,
- 2:27:11like what we saw in Cortana in Halo 3.
- 2:27:14Well, that still means that the flood
- 2:27:16created 5.39
- 2:27:18billion combat forms with their
- 2:27:20infection of the city. But it gets
- 2:27:23worse. High Charity's power was sourced
- 2:27:26from the key ship, which of course left
- 2:27:28the city at the end of Halo 2. But at
- 2:27:30this point, the outbreak had only just
- 2:27:32begun. But as it leaves, all power to
- 2:27:36the city is dreamed and the entire holy
- 2:27:39city is plunged into darkness. Now just
- 2:27:42imagine for a second being one of those
- 2:27:457.7 billion citizens living in that
- 2:27:48undoubtedly extremely tightly packed
- 2:27:50city. The outbreak is spreading rapidly
- 2:27:52throughout the district. There are
- 2:27:54infected everywhere. The streets are
- 2:27:57crowded with individuals trying to flee
- 2:27:59and infected alike. And then suddenly
- 2:28:02the lights go out and the entire city is
- 2:28:05plunged into darkness. But the infected
- 2:28:08just keep coming. Just imagine how
- 2:28:10terrifying that would have been for
- 2:28:12those living there. You know, it
- 2:28:13actually really reminds me of Mark's
- 2:28:15prescription in 28 Days Later of the
- 2:28:17outbreak at Paddington Station. How
- 2:28:19there were so many people there trying
- 2:28:20to get on trains or planes to flee and
- 2:28:23there were so many people that you
- 2:28:24couldn't tell infected and uninfected
- 2:28:26alike. and that when he was trying to
- 2:28:27escape, at one point the floor became
- 2:28:29squidgy and he looks down and he
- 2:28:30realizes that he's walking over dead
- 2:28:32bodies. That description fits the
- 2:28:34outbreak in the lower districts so well.
- 2:28:36That must go down as like the most
- 2:28:39terrifying outbreak in the entirety of
- 2:28:41Halo's law. And I can't believe that
- 2:28:43we've never had any kind of story, let
- 2:28:45alone a game set there.
- 2:28:49And so that brings us to tier seven, the
- 2:28:52final tier of this iceberg, the consumed
- 2:28:55tier. Starting out with something that
- 2:28:59is it's very stupid in a litany of ways
- 2:29:03and frankly deeply irresponsible of
- 2:29:05those who created it. And like I'm
- 2:29:08actually not even being funny with this
- 2:29:09like genuinely. You can see the entry is
- 2:29:12Master Chief
- 2:29:14and well comes from the Halo TV show.
- 2:29:17So, of course, in the TV show, the
- 2:29:19Master Chief, who's not actually the
- 2:29:21Master Chief, it's a stupid
- 2:29:23bastardization of his character, sleeps
- 2:29:26with Marquee, who was a female human
- 2:29:29member of the Covenant, who was being
- 2:29:31held as a P by the UNC. Now putting
- 2:29:35aside the stupidity of the writing of
- 2:29:36this chief here technically commits what
- 2:29:41this entry is because as per the third
- 2:29:44Geneva convention he abused his power as
- 2:29:47a captor to get out of a prisoner thus
- 2:29:51making him
- 2:29:53you know what I'm not going to say the
- 2:29:54word because frankly it just seems wrong
- 2:29:56to describe chief of all characters in
- 2:29:58that way. Um, I was originally going to
- 2:30:00put just Halo TV show in this section
- 2:30:02because that show was awful and deeply
- 2:30:04disturbing, but I I've just felt that
- 2:30:06this ridiculous part of the story
- 2:30:08deserved to be here because not only was
- 2:30:11it awful writing and a complete
- 2:30:13bastardization of Chief, but like no one
- 2:30:16did their research to think like, hang
- 2:30:18on, maybe a a soldier shouldn't be doing
- 2:30:22this with a prisoner of war given what
- 2:30:26that means.
- 2:30:29stupid. Now, this next entry is going to
- 2:30:31be treated with a similar level of
- 2:30:34sincerity because um it's not really
- 2:30:37anything to laugh about here because it
- 2:30:38was real and it happened. And as you can
- 2:30:41see by the entry, that is the Halo 3
- 2:30:44murder. In 2007, 15-year-old Daniel
- 2:30:47Patrick was injured while skiing. Guy
- 2:30:49was considered a nice kid with a loving
- 2:30:52relationship with his parents and had
- 2:30:53many friends at school. Nothing was
- 2:30:55considered wrong with this guy at all.
- 2:30:57He was just considered a really fine,
- 2:30:59normal, happy teenager. But thanks to
- 2:31:01being housebound due to his injury, he
- 2:31:03had nothing to do until his friend
- 2:31:05bought over an Xbox and they started
- 2:31:06playing Halo together. Upon being
- 2:31:08introduced to Halo for the first time,
- 2:31:10like I'm sure many of us were, Patrick
- 2:31:12became pretty addicted and started
- 2:31:14playing 7 to 8 hours a day. But the
- 2:31:16thing was, he lived in a household with
- 2:31:18parents who at the time were very
- 2:31:20against video game violence. cuz you got
- 2:31:22to remember that this was during the era
- 2:31:23where people actually thought that video
- 2:31:25games directly influenced real life
- 2:31:27violence. When Patrick told his dad that
- 2:31:29he was going to go out and buy the Halo
- 2:31:31games, his dad said, "Absolutely no. If
- 2:31:33you do, we'll kick you out of the
- 2:31:34house." So, he moved in with his friend
- 2:31:36for the weekend and spent the entire
- 2:31:38weekend playing Halo. He played upwards
- 2:31:40of 18 hours a day. Daniel was truly
- 2:31:43addicted. And so regardless of what his
- 2:31:45dad said, he went out and bought a copy
- 2:31:47of Halo 3, which he tried to sneak back
- 2:31:49into his house, but his dad foiled his
- 2:31:51plan, took the game, and confiscated it,
- 2:31:54storing it in his safe next to his home
- 2:31:56defense pistol. The game stayed in the
- 2:31:59safe for about a week until October
- 2:32:0120th, not even a month after Halo 3 came
- 2:32:04out. Daniel stole the key to the safe,
- 2:32:07went to it, unlocked it, got his copy of
- 2:32:09Halo 3, but also got his dad's gun. He
- 2:32:12then went downstairs and stood behind
- 2:32:14his parents who were sitting on the
- 2:32:16couch and said, "Close your eyes. I have
- 2:32:19a surprise for you." And then proceeded
- 2:32:21to shoot both his parents in the back of
- 2:32:23the head. His mom died immediately, but
- 2:32:26miraculously his dad survived. His
- 2:32:29sister and her husband then came over
- 2:32:30and they were supposed to be coming over
- 2:32:32anyway, but they'd arrived a couple
- 2:32:33hours early, which Daniel didn't expect.
- 2:32:35So when they came to the door, he told
- 2:32:37them not to come in because their
- 2:32:38parents were fighting, but they got in
- 2:32:41anyway. and realized what had happened.
- 2:32:43But by that time, Daniel had fled. He
- 2:32:45drove away, but was caught by the police
- 2:32:47as he was fleeing. Upon questioning, it
- 2:32:50turned out that Daniel had actually been
- 2:32:51planning the killing a week in advance,
- 2:32:54and he'd even planted the gun in his
- 2:32:56dad's hand to try and make it look like
- 2:32:58a murder suicide. Hence why he told his
- 2:33:00sister that his parents were fighting.
- 2:33:02Thanks to his age, Daniel only narrowly
- 2:33:05avoided the death penalty and instead
- 2:33:06was given life in prison with the
- 2:33:08possibility of parole after 23 years,
- 2:33:12which is coming up in just 5 years time.
- 2:33:14And frankly, I find it insane that
- 2:33:18somebody who committed a premeditated
- 2:33:21double homicide against his parents
- 2:33:24nonetheless is able to be walking free
- 2:33:26in 5 years time. It's a pretty scary
- 2:33:29thought. Overall, this case is one of
- 2:33:30those things that seems too disturbing
- 2:33:32to be real. It just seems fictitious,
- 2:33:34but unfortunately, it isn't. Now, this
- 2:33:37goes without saying, but I'm going to
- 2:33:39say it anyway. Very clearly, this was
- 2:33:42not caused by the fact that Halo 3 had
- 2:33:44guns in it, or that Halo 3 is a violent
- 2:33:47video game, which is what all the
- 2:33:48boomers back then would have tried to
- 2:33:50convince people it was caused by. It was
- 2:33:52obviously just caused by the fact that
- 2:33:54his dad confiscated the game off him and
- 2:33:56that Daniel Patrick very clearly had a
- 2:33:59screw loose and then some and the game
- 2:34:01being confiscated just knocked that
- 2:34:02screw even looser and made him carry out
- 2:34:05something pretty awful. But the fact
- 2:34:07that this even happened in the first
- 2:34:08place to me is horrendously mind-blowing
- 2:34:11to be quite honest with you. The
- 2:34:13disappearance of Dr. Jonas Vulman. So
- 2:34:16back to something that is creepy but
- 2:34:18thankfully fictitiously creepy. Dr.
- 2:34:21Jonas Vulman was a genetic scientist who
- 2:34:23was the author of the book the castaway
- 2:34:26theory which formed the core part of
- 2:34:28Halo 3's Iris ARG. So Iris focused on
- 2:34:31humanity's true ancestry the fact that
- 2:34:34humans are foreigner and the way it was
- 2:34:36delivered was via the society of the
- 2:34:38ancients who we already looked at whose
- 2:34:40views were supported by the research and
- 2:34:42findings of this Dr. Jonas Bulman
- 2:34:45research and findings that all stemmed
- 2:34:47from the castaway theory. However, in
- 2:34:492005, after he published this book that
- 2:34:52proved that humanity's origins unlook
- 2:34:54what modern science teaches, Dr. Jonas
- 2:34:56Vulman mysteriously disappeared.
- 2:34:59Clearly, Volman had flown too close to
- 2:35:01the sun. His research had unearthed
- 2:35:04truth known only to the top 1% of the
- 2:35:06top 1% who feared the repercussions of
- 2:35:09that truth getting out. And so, they
- 2:35:12disappeared him. But weirdly, Vulman
- 2:35:16mysteriously reappeared in August 2007,
- 2:35:19where he revealed that he was working on
- 2:35:21his next book, The Places the Earth
- 2:35:23Stand Still, which was planned to expand
- 2:35:25on the ideas in the Castaway Theory.
- 2:35:28Now, this book never released, and we've
- 2:35:30never heard anything else about the
- 2:35:32Society of the Ancients or Dr. Jonas
- 2:35:34Wman since the Irish campaign concluded,
- 2:35:36but there's no way that his
- 2:35:38disappearance was just down to research.
- 2:35:41Given his field of research, he
- 2:35:43definitely flew too close to the sun and
- 2:35:45had a run-in with people who the world
- 2:35:47shouldn't know exist. All by proving the
- 2:35:50truth that we, humanity, were once
- 2:35:53foreigner,
- 2:35:55the prisoner. So, the Halo 1 anniversary
- 2:35:58map pack for Halo Reach contains a
- 2:36:00remake of Halo 1's prisoner called
- 2:36:02Solitary. The map setting and law was
- 2:36:05that of a maximum security foreigner
- 2:36:07prison referred to as a sky crypt used
- 2:36:10to contain or isolate the most dangerous
- 2:36:13beings encountered by the Ecumen. These
- 2:36:16sky crypts are gigantic towers suspended
- 2:36:18above the icy wastes of a distant
- 2:36:20unknown planet and with a perpetually
- 2:36:22rotating outer ring to make the mere
- 2:36:25thought of escape impossible. The
- 2:36:27specific entities held within this
- 2:36:29facility are entirely unknown. The mere
- 2:36:32thought of what the foreigners would
- 2:36:33need to construct such facilities to
- 2:36:35contain is frankly terrifying. But
- 2:36:38what's even more terrifying is that one
- 2:36:40of these entities actually managed to
- 2:36:42escape. A giant gaping hole has been
- 2:36:45ripped open in the upper wall of the
- 2:36:47facility. The foreign alloy twisted and
- 2:36:49contorted by a being of immense strength
- 2:36:52and power that made it out the other
- 2:36:54side and has never been encountered
- 2:36:56since. At least to our knowledge. The
- 2:36:58fear of not knowing who or what this
- 2:37:01prisoner is, what species it belongs to,
- 2:37:04or where it went after freeing its
- 2:37:05containment is only worsened when you
- 2:37:08consider the level of security that the
- 2:37:09foreigners deemed necessary to contain
- 2:37:11it.
- 2:37:13Flood cannibal cult. So, in Halo Law,
- 2:37:16there exists an extremist sect of the
- 2:37:18Covenant religion who take the great
- 2:37:20journey so seriously that they not only
- 2:37:23believe that the flood is something that
- 2:37:25the Covenant should be protecting, but
- 2:37:27further that they should be embracing
- 2:37:29it. So much so that a shipmaster who was
- 2:37:32present at the Battle of Delta Halo in
- 2:37:34Halo 2 even prepared to allow the flood
- 2:37:37on board his ship to consume his entire
- 2:37:40crew. But thankfully, he was stopped.
- 2:37:43This extremist sect were called the
- 2:37:45governors of contrition. But as extreme
- 2:37:48and disturbing as their ideology sounds,
- 2:37:51they in fact aren't the focus of this
- 2:37:53entry. What we're actually looking at is
- 2:37:55a level of flood appeasement, so to
- 2:37:59speak, that is infinitely worse than
- 2:38:01anything the governors have ever done.
- 2:38:03So when the first flood outbreak
- 2:38:05occurred a 100,000 years ago among the
- 2:38:07ancient humans and ancient prophets,
- 2:38:10they didn't quite turn into the combat
- 2:38:12forms that we know of upon infection.
- 2:38:14They grew fleshy growths and extra
- 2:38:16biomass and were absolutely infected,
- 2:38:19but they were still relatively human and
- 2:38:22sanume, just with the added urge to
- 2:38:24spread the infection and consume. And so
- 2:38:27with this combination of human intellect
- 2:38:29and primal flood urges, the infected
- 2:38:32would form cults centered around
- 2:38:34cannibalism to spread the parasite.
- 2:38:37These cults would capture uninfected
- 2:38:39individuals and force them to consume
- 2:38:42the flesh of an infected individual
- 2:38:44whilst they were still alive. And even
- 2:38:47worse, this sacrificial infected would
- 2:38:50very often be force-fed to a point of
- 2:38:52extremity before being offered up to the
- 2:38:55uninfected individual, causing their
- 2:38:57bodies to swell with huge mounds of
- 2:38:59infected biomass to maximize the spread
- 2:39:02of the infection.
- 2:39:04The precursors know they're in a video
- 2:39:06game. Now, this one is pretty meta, but
- 2:39:09it feeds in to the insane levels of
- 2:39:12knowledge and the insane capabilities of
- 2:39:15the precursors. And it all centers
- 2:39:18around their concept of neural physics.
- 2:39:20So, neural physics was this kind of
- 2:39:23scientific/ philosophical concept that
- 2:39:26the precursors held that everything in
- 2:39:29existence was a living being just in a
- 2:39:32way that biological organisms couldn't
- 2:39:34quite comprehend. So that means that as
- 2:39:36much as I am a living being, this phone
- 2:39:39would be a living being or this mug
- 2:39:40would be a living being. Just not in a
- 2:39:42way that I or you would ever be able to
- 2:39:45truly understand. Using this idea, the
- 2:39:49precursors managed to ascend to
- 2:39:51transentiency, which essentially means
- 2:39:53that as a species, their existence was
- 2:39:56elevated beyond any kind of conventional
- 2:39:58existence or plane of reality that we
- 2:40:01could understand. Using these abilities,
- 2:40:03they could shapeshift, send messages
- 2:40:06through the fabric of the universe, open
- 2:40:08portals to literally anywhere in the
- 2:40:10galaxy, craft immense structures like
- 2:40:12star roads and orbital arches from
- 2:40:14unbending filaments, and use them to
- 2:40:16traverse the galaxy, among many other
- 2:40:18things. To accurately describe the
- 2:40:20existence and the state of the
- 2:40:22precursors is almost intentionally
- 2:40:25impossible for me to do because, well,
- 2:40:27I'm a human. The whole point is that I
- 2:40:30simply cannot comprehend it. And so with
- 2:40:32that in mind, who's to say that the
- 2:40:34precursors haven't used their immense
- 2:40:36power and intelligence to break the
- 2:40:38shackles of the fourth wall, escape
- 2:40:40their video game prison, and become real
- 2:40:42entities that have transcended Halo into
- 2:40:45real life. But we don't know about it
- 2:40:48because we, as humans, simply can't
- 2:40:50perceive them. Okay, it's 20 11 at
- 2:40:52night, so it's probably too late to be
- 2:40:54going into this, but topic for debate.
- 2:40:56Is it theoretically possible to create a
- 2:40:59fictitious entity so intelligent that it
- 2:41:01can transcend the fiction, break the
- 2:41:03fourth wall, and well, transcend into
- 2:41:07real life? What if real life is just the
- 2:41:10plane of existence above fiction? Yeah,
- 2:41:14it's too late to be discussing that.
- 2:41:16Leave your thoughts down below in the
- 2:41:17comments. Let's move on. Human flood
- 2:41:20experiments. Okay, so moving away from
- 2:41:23the hypothetical and very much into
- 2:41:25reality, at least in the Halo universe,
- 2:41:28we have something that is disturbingly
- 2:41:30real. So, we know that humanity in Halo
- 2:41:32and also in the real world, will try to
- 2:41:34weaponize anything. If it exists, we
- 2:41:36will try and turn it into a weapon, and
- 2:41:38the flood were no exception. Following
- 2:41:41our first encounter with the parasite,
- 2:41:42in Halo 1, only knew what they had to
- 2:41:45do. They took control of the Mona Lisa,
- 2:41:48a highsecurity prison ship, and jumped
- 2:41:50it to the wreckage of Alphah Halo, where
- 2:41:52they recovered samples of the infection
- 2:41:54and took it aboard. Held within the Mona
- 2:41:56Lisa were a number of human prisoners,
- 2:41:58but they also brought elite prisoners on
- 2:42:00board as well. Their intentions to
- 2:42:03experiment with the flood on these
- 2:42:04individuals of varying species in an
- 2:42:07attempt to control and down the line
- 2:42:10weaponize the flood. Their goal was to
- 2:42:13create infected so controllable that the
- 2:42:15UNC could send them into battle and use
- 2:42:18them to destroy the Covenant. And to be
- 2:42:21fair, had they pulled this off, then I
- 2:42:23think it would have ended the war in a
- 2:42:24heartbeat. But as always, it didn't work
- 2:42:27out. Just like always, the flood broke
- 2:42:29containment and spread throughout the
- 2:42:31Mona Lisa like wildfire, consuming
- 2:42:34almost everything on board before the
- 2:42:36ship was destroyed. Now, this is the
- 2:42:38only known time in Halo Law that Oni
- 2:42:41tries to experiment on the flood, but
- 2:42:43you know, for a god-given fact that it's
- 2:42:45not the only time. They've done this
- 2:42:46before, and I guarantee they're still
- 2:42:48doing it. I mean, hell, the only agent
- 2:42:50responsible for the Mona Lisa
- 2:42:52experiments actually escaped the ship
- 2:42:54and vanished following its destruction.
- 2:42:56And I can guarantee that that dude is
- 2:42:58still out there somewhere in the exact
- 2:43:00same line of work, just under a
- 2:43:02different pseudonym, the entity in slip
- 2:43:06space. Now, this is something that
- 2:43:08somehow I had no idea about until I
- 2:43:10researched for this video, and man, it's
- 2:43:14terrifying. So, when Hoy was doing all
- 2:43:16of her AI experiments on Reach, one of
- 2:43:18the main ones that she did involved
- 2:43:20putting an AI in slip space to create a
- 2:43:23fractal housing that would allow it to
- 2:43:24expand indefinitely. But thanks to the
- 2:43:27beyond exponential expansion of the AI,
- 2:43:30it started generating disturbing
- 2:43:32nonsense. In the words of Hoy, comments
- 2:43:35on humanity that defy reason, on the
- 2:43:37Covenant, on another step in time and a
- 2:43:41lost consciousness. But then a comment
- 2:43:44about the other intellects in the mist.
- 2:43:47The AI had encountered entities existing
- 2:43:51in Slippies, but before we could find
- 2:43:54out anything else about them, Hoy
- 2:43:56terminated the experiment, leaving the
- 2:43:58AI within. partly, I assume, due to the
- 2:44:02disturbing reactions that the AI was
- 2:44:03giving. But the real question is who or
- 2:44:07what are these entities in the mist? And
- 2:44:10frankly, we don't know. They could be
- 2:44:12other AIs, maybe the Assembly or foreign
- 2:44:15AIs, or maybe even precursor AIs like
- 2:44:18Abdon. Or it could just be a different
- 2:44:21species that is somehow native to
- 2:44:24Slippies. No idea how that one would
- 2:44:26work. I got to say though, the fear of
- 2:44:28the unknown with this one calling them
- 2:44:30the intellects in the mist is pretty
- 2:44:32terrifying and it's made even scarier by
- 2:44:35how abruptly and quickly Horsey
- 2:44:37terminates the experiment. Now, an
- 2:44:40interesting detail is that all this
- 2:44:41information about the intellects in the
- 2:44:43mist and these experiments are only
- 2:44:46located on the infamous lost pages of
- 2:44:48Hall's journal. So basically, of the
- 2:44:51hundreds of thousands of Reach Legendary
- 2:44:53Editions that Bungie shipped out, I
- 2:44:55think only seven of them contained
- 2:44:57journals with these pages, so for
- 2:44:5999.999%
- 2:45:01of people, these pages were
- 2:45:03intentionally ripped out by Dr. Hoy and
- 2:45:06were missing. Now, is it too much of a
- 2:45:09reach to assume that these intellects in
- 2:45:11the mist are the reason that in universe
- 2:45:13Horsey ripped these pages out and made
- 2:45:15sure nobody could see them? I'd hazard a
- 2:45:18guess that that at least in part had
- 2:45:20something to do with it. Either way, the
- 2:45:23vibe of what Horsey discovered here is
- 2:45:25really creepy. Who are these intellects
- 2:45:28in the mist that exist beyond the veil
- 2:45:30of our reality? I don't think we'll ever
- 2:45:32know. Halo is real. Back to the more
- 2:45:35meta stuff. This one is really
- 2:45:37interesting because it all pertains to
- 2:45:39modern history and current events. So,
- 2:45:42as far as we know, modern times and also
- 2:45:45history and ancient history in the Halo
- 2:45:48universe are almost exactly the same as
- 2:45:51in real life. Things like World War II,
- 2:45:54the Cold War, the space race, modern
- 2:45:57society, the ancient Greeks and Romans,
- 2:45:59etc., etc. As far as the current law
- 2:46:01goes, everything that we currently know
- 2:46:03about history also exists in Halo's law.
- 2:46:06Of course, in 2025, we haven't yet
- 2:46:09discovered our true ancestry and the
- 2:46:11entire era of the galaxy that occurred
- 2:46:13100,000 years ago. But besides that,
- 2:46:16everything that we have discovered, we
- 2:46:17have also discovered at the same time in
- 2:46:19Halo. And so, based on the fact that our
- 2:46:22history in real life is the same as our
- 2:46:24history in Halo, does that by extension
- 2:46:27mean that Halo is our future? Does that
- 2:46:30mean that Halo is actually real? Well,
- 2:46:34in isolation, you'd have no reason to
- 2:46:35doubt that fact. I mean, if current
- 2:46:37history is the exact same, then why
- 2:46:39wouldn't the future be the exact same?
- 2:46:41And further, if you double this theory
- 2:46:42up with the precursors being real, then
- 2:46:45given that they originated from Halo,
- 2:46:47who's to say that they don't use neural
- 2:46:49physics to bend and morph our future so
- 2:46:52that it aligns one to one with Halo, the
- 2:46:55universe that they came from, to ensure
- 2:46:57that we, the Reclaimers, secure what our
- 2:47:00ancestors left behind for us. Sadly,
- 2:47:03none of us watching this video right now
- 2:47:04will be alive to know if that ever
- 2:47:06happens. Unless one of you guys happens
- 2:47:08to go the Walt Disney route and freeze
- 2:47:10your brain, in which case, well, enjoy
- 2:47:12the future. But if that does happen, if
- 2:47:15all of this is true, then that means
- 2:47:17that right now out there in the sky,
- 2:47:20there is a halo ring called Delta Halo.
- 2:47:22And on that ring is a cataclysmic flood
- 2:47:25outbreak. And the infected are currently
- 2:47:28building a grave mind. And in about 500
- 2:47:30years time, we are going to have a
- 2:47:33pretty nasty runin with that thing.
- 2:47:34Let's just hope that just like in Halo,
- 2:47:36that outbreak stays contained to Delta
- 2:47:38Halo for another 500 years. Because if I
- 2:47:41look out my window and see a flood ship
- 2:47:43crashing down in the UK before I get to
- 2:47:46release this video that I've spent an
- 2:47:48insane amount of time making, I'm going
- 2:47:50to be really angry. Stonehenge.
- 2:47:54Staying with the meta, we have the
- 2:47:56source of a litany of realworld
- 2:47:58conspiracy theories that again, thanks
- 2:48:01to Iris, transcended into the Halo
- 2:48:03universe as well. Of course, I'm talking
- 2:48:05about Stonehenge. For years, people have
- 2:48:08ruminated on the idea that Stonehenge
- 2:48:10was built by ancient Celtic priests
- 2:48:12using drunic secrets, or that it has
- 2:48:15something to do with time travel, or
- 2:48:17that it acts as some kind of gateway to
- 2:48:19another realm, or that it was built by
- 2:48:21aliens, or by an ancient, highly
- 2:48:23technologically advanced species who
- 2:48:25have since vanished. Well, the Halo
- 2:48:28universe takes those final theories and
- 2:48:30confirms them in Halo's law. As a part
- 2:48:33of Iris, one of the key historical
- 2:48:35anomalies that the Society of the
- 2:48:36Ancients talk about is Stonehenge. How
- 2:48:39did they do it? Why did they do it?
- 2:48:42Hundreds of years of work to build a
- 2:48:44calendar seems like a faulty
- 2:48:45explanation, and it's heavily implied
- 2:48:47that Stonehenge was created with some
- 2:48:50sort of foreigner assistance. Now, it
- 2:48:52likely wasn't physical literal
- 2:48:54assistance given that Stonehenge was
- 2:48:56built in 3100 BC. And of course, by
- 2:48:5997,000 BC, the foreigners were
- 2:49:01completely gone. The healers had been
- 2:49:03fired, and our era of the galaxy had
- 2:49:05begun. So instead, the Bronze Age humans
- 2:49:08who built Stonehenge were likely guided
- 2:49:10by their gaes and by their role as
- 2:49:12reclaimers to construct it, in
- 2:49:14particular, to construct it in the shape
- 2:49:16that it is. It's no coincidence that
- 2:49:18from a bird's eye view, Stonehenge
- 2:49:21shares a startling similarity to a
- 2:49:23foreignly. Its actual purpose though in
- 2:49:26universe, I mean, is entirely unknown.
- 2:49:29But you know what? I would love to see a
- 2:49:31Halo story at some point soon that adds
- 2:49:33some kind of esoteric meaning and
- 2:49:36purpose to Stonehenge that has something
- 2:49:38to do with the foreigners or hell, even
- 2:49:40the precursors. Man, that's such a cool
- 2:49:42avenue of Halo law that they should
- 2:49:43definitely go down at some point. Flood
- 2:49:46infection of the soul. Now, I've covered
- 2:49:49a lot of creepy, disturbing, unsettling
- 2:49:51flood facts so far in this iceberg and
- 2:49:53across my entire channel over the years,
- 2:49:55but I've got to say, I think the flood's
- 2:49:58infection and degradation of the soul
- 2:50:01has got to be the worst, most terrifying
- 2:50:03aspect of them. So, this all focuses
- 2:50:06around the composer and what it was
- 2:50:08originally used for. The composer was a
- 2:50:10foreigner device that painfully
- 2:50:12extracted the essence of a biological
- 2:50:14individual and converted it into raw
- 2:50:17data, allowing it to become an AI to
- 2:50:19exist in the domain or later, as we saw
- 2:50:22with the Prometheian Knights, to assume
- 2:50:24control of an inorganic body. Now, the
- 2:50:27composer functioned based on precursor
- 2:50:29neural physics and was highly effective
- 2:50:31at what it was built to do. So that led
- 2:50:34the creator of the halos, Faber, to try
- 2:50:36and use the composer on combat forms and
- 2:50:39also some other flood infected
- 2:50:40individuals to try and free their
- 2:50:43essence, their soul, from their infected
- 2:50:46body and implant it in a new artificial
- 2:50:49body, thus in a way curing them of
- 2:50:52infection. It seemed like a sound
- 2:50:54logical plan, but the results were, in
- 2:50:57the words of the librarian, horrible.
- 2:51:00Not only was the process immensely
- 2:51:02painful, but somehow the very essence of
- 2:51:05an individual was corrupted within their
- 2:51:08body. No essence taken from an infected
- 2:51:10host survived on its own. And when
- 2:51:13implanted into an artificial body which
- 2:51:15was entirely free from infection, they
- 2:51:17would soon decay and die. The mini of
- 2:51:21how this would occur was left untouched.
- 2:51:23that the mere fact that extracting your
- 2:51:26soul from your body isn't enough to free
- 2:51:29you from flu infection is terrifying and
- 2:51:32only furthers the notion that a cure for
- 2:51:34the parasite simply cannot exist. From
- 2:51:38the moment of infection, even your soul
- 2:51:42is compromised.
- 2:51:44The primordial's words. And
- 2:51:46penultimately we have another instance
- 2:51:48of flood/p precursor compromisation of
- 2:51:52an almost equal level of horror. So the
- 2:51:55ancient humans were the first ones to
- 2:51:56discover the captive as they called it
- 2:51:58the primordial which declared itself as
- 2:52:01the last precursor and the first
- 2:52:02gravemind. Upon discovery the humans
- 2:52:05captured it, hence its nickname and
- 2:52:07interrogated it. Given that this was
- 2:52:09during the height of the humans war with
- 2:52:11the flood which was going horrendously,
- 2:52:13they asked this being about the flood.
- 2:52:15But the answers that the captive gave
- 2:52:17them was so deeply disturbing that it
- 2:52:20caused all present to commit suicide
- 2:52:23instead of continuing to live with this
- 2:52:25newfound knowledge. And so the big
- 2:52:27disturbing question is what exactly did
- 2:52:30the primordial say to the humans that
- 2:52:32was so horrific it caused them to commit
- 2:52:35suicide? Well, my guess is that it told
- 2:52:38them that regardless of whether their
- 2:52:40war with the parasite ended in victory
- 2:52:42or defeat, the floods are infinite and
- 2:52:44would eventually return anyway. Perhaps
- 2:52:47it also told them what it told men and
- 2:52:49bias, that the flood are the next
- 2:52:51natural step in galactic evolution and
- 2:52:53that to deny infection and assimilation
- 2:52:55is to deny evolution. Or perhaps it
- 2:52:58informed them that beyond the boundaries
- 2:53:00of their region of space exist entire
- 2:53:03infected galaxies of flood just waiting
- 2:53:07to spread into their galaxy. And that
- 2:53:09brings us perfectly to the final entry
- 2:53:12in this colossal iceberg. And how
- 2:53:15fitting of an entry it is, the
- 2:53:17transgalactic outbreak. The foreigners
- 2:53:20establish several distinct stages of
- 2:53:22flood outbreak. Feral, the beginning
- 2:53:25phase, coordinated, the gravemind phase.
- 2:53:28Interstellar, in which the flood gained
- 2:53:30the intelligence to travel between star
- 2:53:32systems, and then a final stage that was
- 2:53:35so cataclysmic and horrific that for the
- 2:53:38most part it remained theoretical, the
- 2:53:40transgalactic stage, in which the flood
- 2:53:43have consumed an entire galaxy of flesh
- 2:53:46and bone and have thus gained sufficient
- 2:53:48intelligence to travel between galaxies.
- 2:53:51Right before the halos were fired, the
- 2:53:53grave mine sent an ancient human soul to
- 2:53:55the librarian to tell her that the flood
- 2:53:57had indeed consumed other galaxies. It's
- 2:54:01said that 10,000 planets worth of
- 2:54:03infected lay beyond the Milky Way, which
- 2:54:06creates this idea of a transgalactic
- 2:54:08outbreak, an outbreak so large that it
- 2:54:11spans multiple galaxies. The idea that
- 2:54:14right now in the Halo universe, beyond
- 2:54:16the borders of the Milky Way, are entire
- 2:54:19galaxies that have been consumed by the
- 2:54:21flood, the fruits of which are just
- 2:54:24waiting ever so slightly beyond our gaze
- 2:54:27to enter the Milky Way with a force
- 2:54:29never even imagined to consume
- 2:54:32everything that we hold dear is
- 2:54:34terrifying.
- 2:54:35This is the ultimate final stage of the
- 2:54:38flood. I mean, I guess if you want to
- 2:54:39say that they reach the trans universe
- 2:54:42stage, then they can affect multiple
- 2:54:43universes. I guess that's the next step,
- 2:54:45but that is real real theoretical and
- 2:54:48extremely hypothetical. In my eyes, the
- 2:54:51transgalactic stage and level of
- 2:54:53outbreak with the flood is what will
- 2:54:55fill the role of the precursor's final
- 2:54:57test for humanity. I imagine that the
- 2:54:59final test will be multiple galaxies of
- 2:55:01flood convening to attack humanity in
- 2:55:04the Milky Way. The thought of which is
- 2:55:07horrific. I mean, for all we know, the
- 2:55:10Milky Way galaxy might just be the last
- 2:55:12galaxy in existence that isn't infected
- 2:55:15by the flood. Right now, we might be
- 2:55:18surrounded by millions of galaxies full
- 2:55:21of a septillion infected just waiting to
- 2:55:25break the veil and come into our galaxy.
- 2:55:33And so that, my friends, is the ultimate
- 2:55:37disturbing, interesting, and just
- 2:55:40downright comprehensive Halo iceberg. If
- 2:55:43you made it all the way to the end, I
- 2:55:45cannot thank you enough. This video has
- 2:55:47been an extreme labor of love and time
- 2:55:51and effort. So, if you enjoyed and you
- 2:55:52haven't done so yet, then, you know, a
- 2:55:54like, a sub, and all that stuff down
- 2:55:56below would be greatly, greatly
- 2:55:58appreciated. I am going to round this
- 2:56:01colossal video out there. Once again,
- 2:56:04thank you all so much for watching.
- 2:56:06Thank you also to everyone who supports
- 2:56:08me over on Patreon. Thank you very, very
- 2:56:10much for that. And again, I'm just going
- 2:56:12to going to say it one more time. This
- 2:56:14video has been
- 2:56:16just a labor of love. Um, I've probably
- 2:56:20not put this much effort into a video in
- 2:56:22a long time. Hopefully, it showed. I
- 2:56:24hope. Hopefully, you guys enjoyed it.
- 2:56:26And I'll catch you all in the next one.
