- 0:00in 1994 a woman was abducted near her
- 0:03home in south africa she was then taken
- 0:06to an isolated spot where she was
- 0:08brutally attacked and left for dead but
- 0:11against all odds she will survive and
- 0:14her story will serve to help millions of
- 0:17survivors cope with their trauma this is
- 0:20the story of alison botta
- 0:23am i wearing harloween merch yes i wish
- 0:26all of it was in the shot
- 0:28it's so nice and so comfortable if you
- 0:31love and support stephanie harlow go buy
- 0:32her merch look at it it's so appropriate
- 0:35it's a typewriter there's a typewriter
- 0:38okay now that you got that out of your
- 0:39system if i was to tell you that i have
- 0:43found my match in the gym what is the
- 0:45first thing that will come to your mind
- 0:47what is it you are going to be like whoa
- 0:49my you found somebody striving for their
- 0:51goals going as hard as you do
- 0:55no
- 0:56find somebody with as much spatial
- 0:58awareness as i have kind of and also the
- 1:01same movement range because you know i
- 1:04kind of move like the trolls in harry
- 1:06potter
- 1:08i have never said that out loud
- 1:10now thinking about it
- 1:13yeah yeah no definitely the troll from
- 1:15the toilet from the first one
- 1:17and all the trolls that then hagrid
- 1:19takes care of
- 1:21yes wow i might need a minute to just
- 1:24reconcile with this fact
- 1:27so
- 1:28yeah i was just moving around you know
- 1:30luckily hey i have kstifa this is not a
- 1:33sponsorship of course it's not you have
- 1:35like 400 subscribers and i love and
- 1:37cherish every single one of you but yeah
- 1:39as you know i have case device so
- 1:40everything is fine with my trollish
- 1:43movements so as i'm moving you know at
- 1:45my own return like doing my beats like
- 1:48just going to the next machine
- 1:51but somebody was doing the exact same
- 1:52thing but like slamming at me you know
- 1:55against me my phone fell to like a
- 1:58different location was behind me
- 2:01his i don't know what he had like
- 2:02headphones and phone fell
- 2:05none of us said sorry
- 2:07we both picked up what we dropped and we
- 2:09just moved on it's like this happens to
- 2:11us on a daily basis and i was like i got
- 2:14you
- 2:15you got me luckily nobody was hurt but
- 2:17this would have ended a different way
- 2:20okay and now let's just pretend like you
- 2:23are on the news you're the news anchor
- 2:26and you're passing the silly goofy mood
- 2:28on and you're like hey now we go to
- 2:31a serious topic a serious maya enters
- 2:34the scene
- 2:35yes
- 2:36i i got you jen i got you we are back in
- 2:39hansville it is the penultima no it's
- 2:42not no it's not it's not the penultimate
- 2:45next one is the penultimate this is the
- 2:47third story the third case i'm telling
- 2:49you in this series of hornsville what is
- 2:52cohensville it is a village that you
- 2:54visit on this channel only once a year
- 2:57it surfaces on the map only once a year
- 3:00and when you meet its characters when
- 3:02you meet its citizens and you hear about
- 3:04their stories they might just scar you
- 3:08for life
- 3:09a trigger warning which i should have
- 3:11done on all of these videos but no my
- 3:13stupid ass thinks about how i move like
- 3:16a troll and i don't do them this story
- 3:18is heavy it includes the theme of sexual
- 3:21assault it includes the theme of rape
- 3:24there's a lot of graphic imagery if you
- 3:27know the story you know exactly what i'm
- 3:29talking about
- 3:31it's to do with this empowering somebody
- 3:34and
- 3:35hurting their organs and then putting
- 3:37them back into the place but it is a
- 3:39survivor story and by the end of it
- 3:41you're going to feel like you made a
- 3:44friend like you made another friend
- 3:47because that is how ellison's book made
- 3:49me feel yes i read the book behind and i
- 3:52would suggest you get on it because it
- 3:54is so
- 3:55well written you can totally see that
- 3:57this woman does this for a living these
- 3:59motivational speeches
- 4:01just relating to people on a personal
- 4:04basis i genuinely felt like no i'm part
- 4:07of this family i know this woman by the
- 4:09end of the book and another thing not
- 4:12over promising here but one main reason
- 4:15why i went
- 4:16into this case is because i again heard
- 4:19it i think it was on rotten mango
- 4:21stephanie sue covered this case and i
- 4:23really again connected to ellison and
- 4:26her story because it is such a unique
- 4:28survivor story
- 4:30but also i wanted to do something that i
- 4:33haven't seen
- 4:35covered so much and that is
- 4:38the gang rape and motivations behind it
- 4:41because that never
- 4:42made sense in my head not that it makes
- 4:45sense now
- 4:46but i understand why some people would
- 4:49engage in it i kind of understand what
- 4:52super
- 4:54flaws and just bad personality traits
- 4:56and background
- 4:58is needed for somebody to actually
- 5:00engage in something so
- 5:02cruel and disgusting again i will never
- 5:06be able to comprehend it but by the end
- 5:08of this video we might have a better
- 5:10understanding of why these two people
- 5:13committed this crime and in general
- 5:16why people might commit gang rape
- 5:20so without further ado let us dive into
- 5:22the story of alice and botta our story
- 5:25starts in the early morning hours of
- 5:27december the 18th 1994 alison just
- 5:31finished catching up with her friends
- 5:33she was at her friend's house she picked
- 5:35up some of her clean laundry from them
- 5:38and they were just having pizza chatting
- 5:40catching up and as she left and drove
- 5:44off in her trusty drano card she named
- 5:46reginald by the way people who named
- 5:49their pets and their cars after humans
- 5:52giving them human names are just the
- 5:54best type of people just because you get
- 5:56it because they humanize the objects you
- 5:59get it because this is truly a story
- 6:01about somebody who can humanize even the
- 6:04objects and two individuals who
- 6:07objectify humans
- 6:10anyways as she was driving her car and
- 6:13going into her street we're in south
- 6:15africa by the way near port elizabeth at
- 6:17this point i will put up the map that
- 6:20alison puts in her book so as she just
- 6:22turned into her street she noticed that
- 6:25there are a few cars just parked up
- 6:27where she would usually park reginald so
- 6:30she put nothing of it like she's going
- 6:31to park up a couple of spots ahead
- 6:34and as she did she did things on command
- 6:37you know automatically switching off the
- 6:39car leaning towards the passenger seat
- 6:42to pick up all of the clean laundry and
- 6:45just as she did she felt a cold blade
- 6:48against her neck she said it felt like a
- 6:51really long knife something like a
- 6:53letter opener
- 6:55and that it felt cold and spiny pressing
- 6:58against her skin the voice behind the
- 7:01person pressing the blade on alison's
- 7:03neck said don't worry i don't want to
- 7:06hurt you i just want to use your car for
- 7:08an hour so as he opened the door still
- 7:11holding the blade to her neck he made
- 7:14alice and move on the passenger seat and
- 7:16he drove off the gear that alison went
- 7:20to from the get-go from those first
- 7:22couple of minutes was that she just
- 7:24chose to believe him she knew
- 7:26subconsciously everything that is to
- 7:28come out of this man's mouth would be a
- 7:30lie rather she chose to believe his
- 7:33words and focus on the next steps so
- 7:36think about the next steps in the
- 7:38conversation and what she's going to say
- 7:41so they just start cheat chatting and
- 7:43the man says you live in number one
- 7:45don't you and now she's thinking like
- 7:48how many times has he been in front of
- 7:51my house has he been stalking me how
- 7:53does he actually know where i live like
- 7:55this is a premeditated attack as she
- 7:58doesn't respond he asks her what her
- 8:00name is and she decides to lie and say
- 8:03susan to test it out again and she asks
- 8:07him for his name and he says his name is
- 8:09clinton he is lying to you as we are
- 8:11going to find out soon to test the
- 8:13grounds further alison starts asking him
- 8:16more personal questions well she only
- 8:19gets to utter one and that is where are
- 8:21you from and he says he'd rather not
- 8:24speak about himself so there's again
- 8:27awkward silence in the car and then the
- 8:29man asks her so you leave there alone
- 8:33and i think at this point alison
- 8:35probably knew
- 8:36i mean if he was a stalker he was a bad
- 8:39one because
- 8:40she again chose to lie and say no i'm
- 8:43living with my boyfriend he's actually
- 8:45expecting me so he's gonna be worried if
- 8:47you don't drop me off soon so let's you
- 8:50know do this joyride and then you drop
- 8:52me off at my house right she decides to
- 8:55test the grounds even further and says
- 8:58well why don't i get out of the car and
- 9:00then you take it out for a ride you even
- 9:03have to return it just sort of to see
- 9:05what his response would be and he says
- 9:08no because he wants company and he's
- 9:11actually looking to pick up one of his
- 9:13friends this friend of his apparently
- 9:15stole his tv and also owes him some
- 9:18money so he wants to just take a joyride
- 9:21with his friend in his car
- 9:24and alison is panicking at this moment
- 9:27because this introduces a prospect of
- 9:29another person entering the car and also
- 9:32she felt that at this moment she just
- 9:35felt helpless she felt like she was
- 9:37never not in control of a situation like
- 9:40she was that night in her own car but
- 9:43she chose not to panic she wanted to
- 9:45deal with each moment as it came
- 9:48just a quick sideline and i won't take
- 9:50too much of your time but i just
- 9:52recently heard it on yet another podcast
- 9:55and this podcast is run by an ex-cop and
- 9:58like i've heard it on so many others i
- 10:01have heard so many detectives speak
- 10:03about this
- 10:04so
- 10:05this isn't about victim blaming
- 10:08whatsoever it is just that from what we
- 10:11know now based on how people have
- 10:13perceived so many true crime cases in
- 10:15the past if something like this was to
- 10:18happen to you
- 10:19probably 99 of the people would be
- 10:22paralyzed would act exactly the same as
- 10:25ellison did if somebody was
- 10:27to break the window to their car put a
- 10:29blade to their neck and tell them to
- 10:31move their seat and then take them
- 10:34within that car or i mean in the u.s it
- 10:37would probably be a gun so you don't
- 10:39want to be shot you would be paralyzed
- 10:41with fear and you would do exactly the
- 10:43same but if by any chance you find
- 10:46yourself in this situation which god i
- 10:48hope nobody ever does whether it is in a
- 10:51car or not if somebody was to threaten
- 10:54you with a weapon for you to enter or be
- 10:57moved to a secondary location
- 11:00and you are not to be paralyzed with
- 11:03fear
- 11:04don't allow them to get you to a
- 11:07secondary location you have better
- 11:09chances of survival just running even
- 11:11being shot even being stabbed with a
- 11:13knife that you would
- 11:15because nothing good will happen at that
- 11:17secondary location it's probably going
- 11:19to be an ordeal something that they have
- 11:21fixated on and have planned and relieved
- 11:24in their head for
- 11:25months and months on end i just wanted
- 11:27to mention that because it isn't really
- 11:30sad enough and some people might not
- 11:32know and might think like there are
- 11:34better chances for them to survive if
- 11:36somebody was
- 11:38to move them somewhere else and then
- 11:40maybe they can talk them out of it
- 11:42but according to every single person who
- 11:45actually knows what they're talking
- 11:46about like ex-police officers
- 11:49no just if you were ever not paralyzed
- 11:52to your core if you are within like one
- 11:54percent of people who wouldn't react
- 11:56like ellison
- 11:58run for it like it open that door get
- 12:00the hell out do whatever you need to do
- 12:03to get out of that location and not let
- 12:06them bring you to a secondary one
- 12:08now back into the story the two of them
- 12:10are driving and what are the chances but
- 12:14ellison actually sees a yellow van and
- 12:17she realizes this is a police car like
- 12:19if she could only flag them somehow if
- 12:22she could only get out and run to it she
- 12:25would find her escape but she was so
- 12:27paralyzed with fear that she doesn't
- 12:30they reach the main street and this
- 12:32street seems to be full with people just
- 12:35loitering spending their night near the
- 12:37beach and as they do clinton is just
- 12:40squinting looking through the crowds to
- 12:42spot his friend and alison is just
- 12:45sitting in the passenger seat thinking
- 12:47what is going to happen when this friend
- 12:49reappears
- 12:51and then clinton slams on the
- 12:53accelerator trying to make a turn to see
- 12:55if he can find his friend elsewhere from
- 12:57another angle and as he does alison says
- 13:01careful it's an old car you might roll
- 13:03it and she's surprised that she spoke
- 13:06without being addressed first but also
- 13:09she's surprised that he did slow down
- 13:12and listen to her
- 13:13and everything clinton really does in
- 13:15this car
- 13:17is in order for him not to get caught
- 13:19like if this car was to stop in the
- 13:22middle of the road wasn't to actually be
- 13:25able to switch on well of course she's
- 13:27going to run out go to that yellow van
- 13:29that is past them or just go to the next
- 13:32person on this beach and managed to
- 13:33alert somebody to get help for her
- 13:36later he will be intentionally driving
- 13:39below the speed limit in order for them
- 13:41not to get caught so eventually on the
- 13:45road he spots his friend when this
- 13:48friend of clinton's gets into the car
- 13:50clinton asks him does he have any smokes
- 13:53and as he hands the cigarette over to
- 13:55clinton allison asks can she have one
- 13:58and as they offer her one she is just
- 14:00smoking and listening to what they're
- 14:02saying in the background but she's
- 14:03paying attention to where they're
- 14:05driving because they seem to be driving
- 14:07out of the city and towards beach road
- 14:11which is one of the main roads near the
- 14:13beach front
- 14:15clinton introduces both of them to each
- 14:17other he says hey this is my friend
- 14:19susan this is my friend teens now later
- 14:22we're gonna find out that he actually
- 14:24wasn't lying about his friend's name so
- 14:26i don't know what the logic behind that
- 14:28was
- 14:29well actually i kind of know what the
- 14:31logic behind that was we'll speak about
- 14:32that as well
- 14:34think dominant submissive just for close
- 14:37spoil it all spoil it all as they're
- 14:40driving down this road she is sort of in
- 14:43the background she isn't focusing too
- 14:45much on what they're saying but she
- 14:46hears that they have somebody called
- 14:48natalie that lives in the suburb of over
- 14:51bakkens and as they're talking they're
- 14:53talking about heading there later and
- 14:56she realizes this still isn't over like
- 14:59between here and over buckets there's
- 15:01some time are they gonna dispose of me
- 15:03somewhere on the road what is going to
- 15:05happen to me am i heading with them to
- 15:07that place like nothing good is going to
- 15:10come out of this she said that as they
- 15:12were driving somehow she didn't want to
- 15:15believe that they were lying she again
- 15:18convinced herself that they were
- 15:19actually heading to this part of the
- 15:21town and they are just going to dump her
- 15:24somewhere next to the road
- 15:26so while listening to them talk she was
- 15:28also trying to think how would she come
- 15:31from this over barkins part of the town
- 15:34back to her mother's house she was sort
- 15:36of planning the route just trying to
- 15:39process and disassociate from the
- 15:40current situation
- 15:42eventually clinton parks up her car in
- 15:45this place in the middle of nowhere just
- 15:48garbage everywhere broken glass and he
- 15:51parks it up in such a way that the car
- 15:53is facing the road but they're about 90
- 15:56meters away from the main road so even
- 15:58if somebody was to be passing by
- 16:00following this route they wouldn't be
- 16:02able to see them he asks her how to
- 16:05switch off the headlights of the car and
- 16:07she just turns the knob and switches
- 16:11them off and now the guy in the back
- 16:13gets out and alison is just sitting
- 16:16there impatiently and she says now what
- 16:19and clinton looks at her like oh i
- 16:21thought it was clear that we brought you
- 16:23out here for sex to which she replies no
- 16:26because she actually wanted to believe
- 16:29so badly that this is just going to end
- 16:32with her getting out of the car and
- 16:34moving on with her life and them taking
- 16:36her car only as alison came to this
- 16:39realization teens is just outside having
- 16:42another cigarette checking the road and
- 16:45then looking back at them so clinton
- 16:47asks alison if she will fight if she's
- 16:50going to resist and she says no
- 16:54and this is when the rape proceeds
- 16:56clinton asks her to perform moral sex on
- 16:59him and then
- 17:01quite blatantly tells her to suck his
- 17:03[ __ ] and then if she bites him that he
- 17:07is going to kill her and as she's
- 17:10performing oral sex on him he's holding
- 17:12the knife right next to her head
- 17:14and then she doesn't know how that
- 17:17lasted because again she disassociated
- 17:19from most of that she just remembers him
- 17:22now performing oral sex on her leaving
- 17:25live bites all across her body asking
- 17:28her does her boyfriend do these things
- 17:30for her getting her to say that she's
- 17:32enjoying herself after he moved on from
- 17:35performing oral sex to leaving love
- 17:38bites all over her breast area then he
- 17:41even kissed her and she just remembers
- 17:43the smell of nicotine the smell of
- 17:45cigarettes and he said you have the
- 17:47nicest tasting fanny and she was just
- 17:50completely disconnected and disgusted
- 17:53and this is when clinton raped her and
- 17:55she remembers trying to escape as much
- 17:58as possible not touch him his skin any
- 18:02part of his snakey skin and just instead
- 18:05touch like different parts of the car
- 18:08but due to the adrenaline due to the
- 18:10trauma her body betrayed her and she
- 18:14managed to reach orgasm as well as he
- 18:16did just as he finished and put his head
- 18:20through the window speaking to teens he
- 18:22said do you want to have sex with this
- 18:25lovely lady and teens responded no i
- 18:29want to [ __ ] this [ __ ] [ __ ] his
- 18:32words not mine when teens approached the
- 18:35car he almost went to perform moral sex
- 18:38on ellison but clinton said nah man my
- 18:42[ __ ] is still in there so he recoiled he
- 18:46kissed alison instead and then even
- 18:48though he wasn't even erect enough
- 18:51he still proceeded to rape her
- 18:54eventually maybe because his friend
- 18:56clinton was still watching maybe because
- 19:00he couldn't bear the idea that he
- 19:03is raping her after somebody else did he
- 19:06said no i can't do this and he just
- 19:08pulled up his pants leaving alison in
- 19:11the car with clinton again
- 19:14after the rape alison said clinton next
- 19:17to her just seemed to be almost dozing
- 19:19off in the passenger seat
- 19:21but then teens was on the car he was on
- 19:25the bonnet and that is the first time
- 19:27she noticed the knife the second knife
- 19:30with a blade that looked much longer
- 19:32than the first knife she had seen that
- 19:34night she asked can i get dressed but
- 19:38none of them responded as far as the two
- 19:40men were concerned she didn't even exist
- 19:43she started putting her clothes back on
- 19:47and as she lifted her gaze she noticed
- 19:50that teens is getting more and more
- 19:51restless outside he's pacing he's still
- 19:54holding that gun and that is when he
- 19:57addresses his friend clinton as france
- 20:00both of them still pretending as if
- 20:02alison is not a person as if she is not
- 20:04in that same car teen says to france
- 20:08if we return her to town now she's going
- 20:10to go to the police alison says no i
- 20:14won't i don't want my parents to find
- 20:16out about this but france says he
- 20:19doesn't believe her so he turns to his
- 20:21friend and says what if we leave her
- 20:23here but without her clothes on then
- 20:26somebody's just going to think you know
- 20:27she's a crazy person right
- 20:29and alison realized that they could
- 20:32communicate in afrikaans as they did
- 20:35earlier on that night but now they were
- 20:37speaking in english and she figured
- 20:39they're doing this in order to
- 20:41intimidate her and then one of them said
- 20:44what do you think old nick would want us
- 20:46to do with her alison remembered from
- 20:49her church days that old nick is just
- 20:52another name for satan
- 20:54and the other man responded i think he
- 20:57wants us to kill her if there was a
- 20:59point in this video where you thought
- 21:01you're going to go take a break make a
- 21:03cup of coffee catch a breath of fresh
- 21:06air
- 21:07this is it because it's going to go
- 21:10south from now on i mean even more south
- 21:13than it already is
- 21:15so if you want to do that do that now
- 21:17and then come back
- 21:19and pause me and let us dive into some
- 21:22of the grimiest details of a story that
- 21:24i have ever heard so just as the two of
- 21:26them finished chatting about how the
- 21:28devil wants them to do this
- 21:30from one moment to another as alison is
- 21:33still putting the clothes back on she
- 21:36feels that franz who she knew as clinton
- 21:39up until a minute ago is now on top of
- 21:42her trying to strangle her she says his
- 21:46hands felt like somebody was pulling a
- 21:48tourniquet around her neck and she
- 21:51utters please don't kill me to which he
- 21:54just says sorry she remembers soiling
- 21:57the seat where she was so urinating
- 22:01which is going to become crucial by the
- 22:02way so that's why i'm mentioning it and
- 22:04then everything blacking out the next
- 22:07thing she remembers she's outside of the
- 22:10car lying on that dirty ground with the
- 22:13trash everywhere around her and both of
- 22:15them are using that second knife to stab
- 22:18her it will later be said that teens was
- 22:22the one to make the first cut so both of
- 22:25them will stab her in the neck area for
- 22:2817 times and then 37 more times would be
- 22:32focused in her abdominal mostly pubic
- 22:36area as this is happening especially the
- 22:39neck stab wounds alison remembers the
- 22:42moon right above her and she just said
- 22:44like instead of focusing on the head of
- 22:47the person stabbing her she just focused
- 22:49on the moon that was right above the
- 22:51man's head as both of these men were
- 22:54satisfied with are doing they thought
- 22:56there was enough stabs now one of them
- 22:58actually said there's no way that she
- 23:01could have survived this and they just
- 23:03went back into the car and drove off
- 23:06alison remembers going in and out of
- 23:08consciousness while she is lying on this
- 23:11beach
- 23:12and bleeding out but she knew that she
- 23:15can't allow this to happen to anybody
- 23:18else
- 23:19what that meant for her at that moment
- 23:22was that she thought she was going to
- 23:24die so she starts writing their names in
- 23:28the sand so she writes france
- 23:32then she writes teens and she wasn't
- 23:34really sure about his spelling which
- 23:36come on who is
- 23:38and then she writes underneath both of
- 23:41their names i love mom and then she
- 23:43passes out again once she was conscious
- 23:46again the book makes you believe like
- 23:49she's yet again just like every single
- 23:51part of that night
- 23:53witnessing this as if it were happening
- 23:55to somebody else
- 23:57as if she's just an observer
- 24:00she realizes okay i can't stay here
- 24:03because if i don't get to that road my
- 24:06chances of survival are zero she soon
- 24:09focuses on the two areas where most of
- 24:12the injuries were situated so the pubic
- 24:15abdominal
- 24:16area and then her neck
- 24:18and she realizes when she's touching her
- 24:22stomach area that she feels something
- 24:25gooey and she's like okay this isn't
- 24:28good
- 24:29her intestines were outside of her
- 24:33stomach
- 24:34so she's thinking on her feet
- 24:36and looking next to her she sees one of
- 24:38her shirts
- 24:40so she decides to use her shirt to scoop
- 24:44her intestines as if it's a bag that she
- 24:47needs to carry as she scoops her
- 24:49intestines with her shirt she also
- 24:52realizes that her head
- 24:54is almost detached as well
- 24:57it's just if she doesn't support it it
- 25:00seems like it's going to flip over so
- 25:02she has to hold her head
- 25:04and then with the other hand hold her
- 25:06stomach and somehow step by step inch by
- 25:10inch she starts moving towards the road
- 25:13she said it took an eternity she doesn't
- 25:15even remember how long this took
- 25:18but it was 90 meters but of course she
- 25:21was blacking out
- 25:23trying to persist trying to get onto the
- 25:26road and not just get onto the road
- 25:28but then collapse and lie on it in such
- 25:31a way
- 25:32where a car wouldn't just run over her
- 25:35because then all of this effort was for
- 25:38nothing so once she finally reaches the
- 25:40road she collapses horizontally against
- 25:43the white line
- 25:45while she is lying on the asphalt she is
- 25:47surrounded by complete silence pitch
- 25:50darkness she's kind of going in and out
- 25:52of consciousness but then she hears
- 25:55something that sounds like a car engine
- 25:58the car has approached slowed down
- 26:01stopped and then it seemed like somebody
- 26:04looked outside towards her
- 26:06had a couple of minutes of forts and
- 26:09decided to turn around and speed up and
- 26:12leave her by herself again
- 26:14i think it's safe to say whoever was in
- 26:16that car doesn't give cars human names
- 26:19or maybe just have a zilch of soul in
- 26:23their body but ellison says she doesn't
- 26:26blame them
- 26:27she says i mean if you were to have seen
- 26:30her at this side of the road you would
- 26:32have probably been afraid if you were a
- 26:34woman by yourself in the middle of
- 26:37nowhere or maybe you would have thought
- 26:39it's some sort of ambush some sort of
- 26:41decoy somebody left to get you out of
- 26:44the car and then do the same kind of
- 26:47thing to you
- 26:49so she said she doesn't blame the person
- 26:51the only thing is that she felt sad
- 26:53because she felt what if that's the only
- 26:56car that passes by tonight
- 26:59i don't have too long to live what if
- 27:02that was my only chance
- 27:04fortunately the next sounds that she
- 27:06hears are from multiple cars all of them
- 27:10seem to screech to the hold and multiple
- 27:12people get out there's a woman that is
- 27:15screaming and alison just remembers how
- 27:17much that bothered her like on top of
- 27:19everything she said like she doesn't
- 27:21need this she needs a calm person
- 27:24and luckily she finds a calm person in
- 27:27this handsome man who kneels down
- 27:31and holds her hand
- 27:33and he keeps telling her that everything
- 27:35is going to be okay she remembers trying
- 27:38to talk but she couldn't
- 27:40so her and this man establish a way of
- 27:44communication between each other
- 27:47just by her squeezing his hand by this
- 27:51point only 90 minutes have passed since
- 27:53the moment that alison was abducted in
- 27:56front of her house to this moment where
- 27:58she was found at the side of the road
- 28:01and it will be two long hours before
- 28:04this ambulance car actually arrived
- 28:07partially that is probably because of
- 28:09the descriptions
- 28:11people who found alison would have given
- 28:14to this ambulance if you were to
- 28:16describe somebody's throat being slit
- 28:19the intestines being outside of her body
- 28:22i mean you would think you'd like to
- 28:24think that they would treat this as the
- 28:26priority number one of the night they
- 28:28will send the ambulance straight away
- 28:30but also according to alison and people
- 28:33in her life
- 28:34they didn't expect her to live
- 28:37ever even when the ambulance showed up
- 28:39even when she was actually in the
- 28:41hospital based on her injuries every
- 28:44single doctor and these are people who
- 28:47study these people with degrees who
- 28:49don't believe in miracles in gods
- 28:52something being god's work
- 28:54said that what happened to alison the
- 28:56fact that she survived it is indeed a
- 28:59miracle another partial reason and this
- 29:02is a sideline but i have free reference
- 29:04point for south africa and its culture
- 29:07one according to my last name you
- 29:10probably know it's not my nationality
- 29:12and culture being based of the accent
- 29:14it's my husband's
- 29:17the second is my friend from uni hey
- 29:19it's uh she actually watches this
- 29:20channel my husband doesn't so middle
- 29:22finger to that man
- 29:24and the third one is trevor noah and
- 29:27trevor had this kit it's still my
- 29:28favorite thing to which i returned every
- 29:31now and then i think it was one of those
- 29:32behind the scenes which are literally
- 29:34the best bits of the trevor noah show
- 29:37and the skit is about calling 9-1-1 in
- 29:40south africa and how if you were to call
- 29:42the equivalent of the emergency services
- 29:46first of all you know in the u.s they
- 29:48would send somebody even if you were to
- 29:49ring them they would triangulate where
- 29:51you were at even if you were not water a
- 29:53word like okay that person is in danger
- 29:55that's why they called us
- 29:57in south africa you would have to be
- 29:59alive not paralyzed by fear able to
- 30:02describe what is going on and even then
- 30:05they would take their sweet time and god
- 30:07forbid you're to call about i don't know
- 30:08an animal being stuck on a tree that you
- 30:11can't reach like a pet of yours well
- 30:13then they'd be like well cosmetic
- 30:14something serious when it's human life
- 30:17in danger and even then yet again we
- 30:19might take our precious time because we
- 30:22only deal with emergencies okay it is in
- 30:24the name of the services he said it
- 30:27better if it's not copyrighted i'm gonna
- 30:29put it in but it's something i kept
- 30:31thinking when researching this story
- 30:33like how insane it is that you are there
- 30:37barely alive having survived this and
- 30:39the ambulance is just taking their
- 30:41precious time like what else do you have
- 30:43to do on that evening
- 30:45what else just appear on the spot and
- 30:47help this woman out she's clearly the
- 30:49number one priority and we know that
- 30:51they should have been there much sooner
- 30:54because the actual drive to the hospital
- 30:56is about 15 minutes so that is why
- 30:58everybody in this story believes people
- 31:00have given up tian the guy that reached
- 31:04the scene the handsome man who is
- 31:05holding her hand
- 31:07figured out the system because he
- 31:09realized she can't talk
- 31:11so he figured out to ask questions where
- 31:14she could answer with yes or no or
- 31:17communicate through single squeeze or
- 31:19two squeezes of his hand this is a slow
- 31:22process so at first he was saying the
- 31:24model of the cars and then when he said
- 31:27renault she squeezed his hand once
- 31:31then it was up to determining the color
- 31:33alison used her finger to write the
- 31:36letter y again so he's like a yellow
- 31:39renault she squeezes his hand once again
- 31:41he asked her if she was english or
- 31:43africans then english she squeezed his
- 31:46hand once
- 31:48has she been raped she squeezed his head
- 31:51one time how many men then she gripped
- 31:54his hand twice and she knew he will
- 31:57understand she asked her if she had a
- 31:59boyfriend and then she squeezed his hand
- 32:02twice to indicate no
- 32:04to which he responded well would you
- 32:06like one
- 32:07you and i must go out on a date when
- 32:09this is all over and i mean you owe me
- 32:12because there's a lot of your blood on
- 32:14my shirt so you kind of ruined this
- 32:16thing
- 32:17everything he was doing was in order to
- 32:19keep her to stay alive like in order to
- 32:22keep her eyes open he was commenting on
- 32:25her smile on how she has the most
- 32:27beautiful eyes he was doing everything
- 32:30in his power to keep her talking
- 32:32squeezing his hand
- 32:33and in doing so also describing the
- 32:36crimes so that he can describe it to the
- 32:38police as soon as they make it to this
- 32:40hospital finally when the ambulance
- 32:42arrived she didn't want to let go of
- 32:45tien she completely
- 32:47built her trust with this man after this
- 32:50ordeal and she was fearful of what is
- 32:53going to happen in the hospital now so
- 32:55he went into the ambulance car with her
- 32:58and they drove off to the port elizabeth
- 33:00provincial hospital at the door before
- 33:03going into the operating room she had to
- 33:06say goodbye to tien and alison was
- 33:09really scared she was just terrified
- 33:12because even as she was lying on this
- 33:14stretcher just before the operation
- 33:18the nurses and the doctors didn't even
- 33:20know the extent of the injuries to her
- 33:23neck so at some point the nurse actually
- 33:25removed the suction pump and alison
- 33:29started moving and shaking her arms she
- 33:32says as a mad woman i say completely
- 33:35appropriately to flag for help because
- 33:38nobody knew what was going on so the
- 33:40nurse had to keep the suction pump at
- 33:42her neck
- 33:43in the documentary that is on amazon
- 33:45prime that i would also suggest watching
- 33:48for this case they go through the extent
- 33:51of the injuries and in particular what i
- 33:54liked about both the book and the
- 33:56documentary is that alison included
- 33:59everybody who was present during the
- 34:01process including tien tien wrote a
- 34:04chapter or two
- 34:05including the doctors the surgeons they
- 34:08appeared in the documentary including
- 34:11certain police members as well so we
- 34:14kind of go in and out of everybody's
- 34:16perspective
- 34:17so this is yet again a graphic warning
- 34:20description of
- 34:22what these doctors and surgeons will
- 34:25encounter now that alison is left with
- 34:27them
- 34:28david comey one of the surgeons said
- 34:31that he had never seen the horror of the
- 34:33injuries that alison had suffered on
- 34:35that night
- 34:37her windpipe was cut through and she was
- 34:40breathing solely through that gaping
- 34:43hole in her collarbone she was
- 34:45disemboweled but that wasn't even the
- 34:48major problem the major issue was that
- 34:52even to operate on her these surgeons
- 34:55would have to take out all of the beach
- 34:58sands the charcoal
- 35:00the little bits of glass and garbage
- 35:02that were still
- 35:04in her bowel area in between the
- 35:06intestines so they will have to clear
- 35:09this and even then if successful if the
- 35:12operation was to go through and
- 35:14everything was to be put back in place
- 35:17alison would have to come in for that
- 35:20area to be cleared over and over again
- 35:23they knew immediately from the amount of
- 35:25stabs in that area that alison will
- 35:29probably never be able to bear children
- 35:32if you can recall i told you to pay
- 35:34attention to a particular detail and
- 35:37that was that alison has emptied her
- 35:40bowels something i didn't know is that
- 35:42this is actually a common reaction to
- 35:44strangulation but in this case that was
- 35:47a good sign because had she not emptied
- 35:49her bowels as france was strangling her
- 35:53there is a greater chance that the
- 35:55intestines and that area would have been
- 35:57infected but this way it wasn't but the
- 36:01silver lining here was that her
- 36:03esophagus was undamaged meaning that she
- 36:06will probably recover her voice and that
- 36:08no internal organs nor a vessel
- 36:10supplying blood to the rest of her
- 36:12system were damaged
- 36:14as this doctor is preparing the
- 36:16operation room and sort of briefing
- 36:19alison that they will need to clear her
- 36:22bowel area as well trying to make her
- 36:24feel comfortable make her feel that she
- 36:27can trust somebody else
- 36:29he's also telling his nurses and doctors
- 36:32that they need a specialist they need an
- 36:34ent to operate on her and luckily for
- 36:37them and for alison in particular this
- 36:40ent specialist called dr valodia angelob
- 36:43was just at home preparing to come in
- 36:46for an early shift and this guy traveled
- 36:49for his job so this was just yet another
- 36:52miracle that he was actually in town
- 36:55working at that particular hospital on
- 36:57that particular night before her
- 36:59operation they get a listen to sign a
- 37:02consent form and also to put in the
- 37:05emergency contact details and she puts
- 37:07her mom's details
- 37:09and if you look at her handwriting on
- 37:11this form and writing that phone number
- 37:14down it just seems like a handwriting of
- 37:17a completely
- 37:18steady person nobody going through any
- 37:22distress at all
- 37:24as they bring her into the operation
- 37:26room we go into the perspective of tien
- 37:29who is outside in the waiting room when
- 37:32the police comes in he was introduced to
- 37:35a police officer called nadia and nadia
- 37:38told him she seems to have a good idea
- 37:40on who could be responsible here but she
- 37:43will need alison to wake up and id the
- 37:46suspects after alison's operation that
- 37:49lasted for over three hours and some
- 37:53hours spent in high care the police
- 37:55officers were back to speak with her
- 37:58nadia told her that they already have
- 38:00them and they found her car as well that
- 38:03they are keeping them in custody and
- 38:05that they won't get bail so that she
- 38:07shouldn't be worried they just want her
- 38:10to id both of them from an array of
- 38:13photographs that they have to show her
- 38:15alison sees this array of pictures she
- 38:18chooses both of them from the pictures
- 38:21that she was shown and then under
- 38:23returns to the police office but then a
- 38:25couple of days after she goes back to
- 38:28the hospital
- 38:29and says to alison it would be great if
- 38:32you could verbalize it like if you were
- 38:35to say their names it would give more
- 38:38credence to the story it would be more
- 38:40powerful towards their arrest and
- 38:42keeping them in custody and it just this
- 38:46part of the story drove me crazy there's
- 38:47so many parts there is one that is
- 38:49coming up that is even more insane than
- 38:52this but alison writes
- 38:54that's fine and what that meant was
- 38:56taking the tube that was connecting to
- 38:58her lungs so all the doctors were like
- 39:01what if she realizes she can't talk what
- 39:03if
- 39:04the operation didn't work like it's too
- 39:07early for this to happen but alison just
- 39:11took that piece of paper where she was
- 39:13writing everything down and she just
- 39:15wrote take it out
- 39:17and as soon as they did she said that's
- 39:20wonderful their names are friends and
- 39:23tiens
- 39:24she remembers those eight days in high
- 39:26care as her just sleeping having family
- 39:30member visits nausea and pain just a lot
- 39:34of pain every single day she had to go
- 39:37for her abdomen injury to be scraped and
- 39:41this was of course done when she was
- 39:42conscious she was just going through it
- 39:45and just talking to this doctor about
- 39:47the trivial things of the day to
- 39:49disassociate from that moment but on a
- 39:52mental level she said that there was
- 39:54something that she couldn't compute
- 39:57and that is that i wanted to kill her
- 39:59like rape was another thing but that was
- 40:02kind of like a secondary thing that she
- 40:04was thinking about
- 40:06the first thing was why would two
- 40:08individuals want to do that to another
- 40:12why would you humans want to kill
- 40:14another especially in this situation
- 40:16where she posed no threat well to find
- 40:20that out we are going into the
- 40:22perspective of melvin humpel the legend
- 40:25the one and only
- 40:26melvin the police officer who was at
- 40:30this moment as ellie was contemplating
- 40:33on why two people would kill
- 40:35another person
- 40:37interrogating the two individuals that
- 40:40got us into this predicament in the
- 40:42first place
- 40:44on the 19th of december our boy melvin
- 40:46here got a call from the robbery squad
- 40:50and they said he better get down there
- 40:52there was an attack and rape of a young
- 40:55woman
- 40:56nadia briefed him when he reached the
- 40:58location saying they found the victim's
- 41:00car with the keys still in ignition
- 41:02abandoned near this brewery in the north
- 41:06end
- 41:06it was nadia and another police officer
- 41:09that went to the flats to arrest both
- 41:12men and at this stage they were looking
- 41:14for suspects in two other reported rape
- 41:17cases they suspected france in both they
- 41:20thought that in the first rape case he
- 41:23operated on his own and in the second
- 41:26one he tagged along his body tiens
- 41:29and it was actually melvin who with
- 41:31nadia first caught france in february
- 41:35this is when france was accused of
- 41:36abduction and rape of 20 year old woman
- 41:39but he was released on bail why was he
- 41:42here
- 41:43why was he released on bail maya when he
- 41:45is clearly a danger to the society
- 41:48well there was no medical evidence it
- 41:50was his word against hers
- 41:53and also at that stage franz had a
- 41:56stable job as a driver and also had a
- 41:58fixed address so the court had to let
- 42:01him go
- 42:02because he walked free he joined forces
- 42:06with his friend teens on this occasion
- 42:08when on december the 4th so just a
- 42:10couple of months later
- 42:12both of them struck again and this time
- 42:16they accosted raped and sexually
- 42:18assaulted the 21 year old pregnant woman
- 42:21who was simply going to buy cigarettes
- 42:24here because this was in a different
- 42:26area they get arrested by a different
- 42:29police station and they appear at a
- 42:32different magistrates court for somebody
- 42:34to decide if they can be left out on
- 42:36bail
- 42:37so this police station apparently didn't
- 42:40have
- 42:41the communications because this was
- 42:42still 90s to communicate with the other
- 42:46one to know about the previous charge so
- 42:49the prosecutors who presented this case
- 42:51didn't have this information and both of
- 42:54them were released on bail again so as
- 42:57melvin is brought into the prison where
- 42:59they're holding the two men he's
- 43:01thinking who do i choose i need to go
- 43:04strategically about this because i
- 43:07already dealt with franz the toy
- 43:10so maybe i should choose teens maybe
- 43:13there is a better option that he will
- 43:15cave he's 19
- 43:17i haven't dealt with him yet so let me
- 43:20choose him to interrogate first and this
- 43:22seemed to have been a great option
- 43:24because as soon as they're in the
- 43:26interview room
- 43:28melvin tells him
- 43:30you see things these are the charges
- 43:32against you
- 43:33one of them is rape and then the other
- 43:35one oh how do i break this to you
- 43:39it's attempted murder and teams
- 43:41immediately reacts in shock like starts
- 43:44sweating on the spot like what do you
- 43:47mean a tempted murder to which melvin
- 43:49replies well you remember the woman that
- 43:52you left for dead on the side of the
- 43:54road
- 43:56you wouldn't guess it but she survived
- 43:58and not just that she survived oh she's
- 44:01talking and she remembers everything if
- 44:04i were ever a fly in a single room this
- 44:07would be it this would be the moment
- 44:09that i would want to witness purely for
- 44:12the sheer terror in this man's eyes when
- 44:15he realized that he didn't kill the
- 44:18witness so there somebody can actually
- 44:21testify against him after he comes to
- 44:24this realization that he didn't actually
- 44:26kill alison teens just takes one of the
- 44:29rings off of his finger and hands it
- 44:32over to melvin and melvin notices the
- 44:34ring is still bloodied he says this
- 44:37belongs to alison so take it back to her
- 44:40still has her blood on it and then he
- 44:42starts telling the police officer
- 44:44exactly how it happened according to
- 44:47teens that afternoon the two of them
- 44:50were just having a barbecue and chatting
- 44:52and france suggested they should find a
- 44:55beautiful woman to rape and then kill
- 44:57with a car then after hanging out in the
- 45:00central area
- 45:02teens decided to stay in that club zone
- 45:05and go to a club and find a girl and
- 45:08france was to probably go home change
- 45:11and then join him
- 45:13but instead we know that france for
- 45:15whatever reason was in the same street
- 45:18where ellison was he abducted her and
- 45:21then the next thing teens remembers was
- 45:24him and alison picking him up in that
- 45:26car teens said the story about the
- 45:29stolen tv and him owing him money was a
- 45:32lie which is something to get as an
- 45:35excuse to pick teams up
- 45:37as they're now driving they get to the
- 45:40area he describes the rapes and then how
- 45:43france strangled ellison and that got
- 45:46her out of the car once they were done
- 45:48stabbing teens actually asked franz how
- 45:51do we know that she is dead and franz
- 45:54said let's find out and stabbed her a
- 45:57couple more times in the private area
- 46:00he confessed to melmy that he was the
- 46:02one to make the first cut but then franz
- 46:06was really just bloodthirsty he pushed
- 46:08him aside and france was the one to make
- 46:11the most of the cuts
- 46:13one of the more horrifying details that
- 46:15teens will conclude this confession with
- 46:18was the murder weapon
- 46:20he ended up handing it over to melvin
- 46:23which i don't understand because the
- 46:24book makes it seem like they're in the
- 46:27interrogation room he was still with a
- 46:29knife meaning that in the holding cell
- 46:31he still had a knife on him
- 46:34i don't think that's correct but sure
- 46:36wherever this knife was hopefully safely
- 46:39in an evidence locker it still had
- 46:42alison's blood on it not just that
- 46:45but the next morning
- 46:47teens was making breakfast with this
- 46:49knife that held alison's blood on it he
- 46:51didn't even bother to wipe it didn't
- 46:53bother to wipe it after that breakfast
- 46:56france confession was pretty much the
- 46:58same thing none of them really lied
- 47:01about their involvement or tried to
- 47:03blame the other but in france they
- 47:05actually found out that the two of them
- 47:08planned to do the same thing with
- 47:11another woman the very next day
- 47:13had they not been arrested they would
- 47:15have probably done this but with this
- 47:17woman they thought they should throw her
- 47:19off the bridge and melvin said none of
- 47:22them showed any remorse but especially
- 47:25france he was just talking about this
- 47:27matter of fact
- 47:29like it wasn't even him that was the
- 47:31main perpetrator in the act
- 47:34as these two suspects are just showing
- 47:37how careless and emotionless they truly
- 47:40are alison from within the hospital
- 47:43walls is showing the complete opposite
- 47:46as she has identified both of these men
- 47:49literally the first couple of days in
- 47:51her hospital
- 47:53she is not just thinking rationally not
- 47:55just even attempting to talk when she
- 47:57needs to but she has writing on her
- 48:00notebook alerted her mom that her friend
- 48:03from london was supposed to stay in her
- 48:05flat to come to visit her so that she
- 48:08needs to communicate with this friend of
- 48:10hers in order for the friend not to be
- 48:12disappointed and she remembers this time
- 48:15that she has told this friend always how
- 48:19safe this area is how safe the area she
- 48:22lived in is how is she going to explain
- 48:25this to her while the two men were
- 48:28facing the judge in the magistrates
- 48:30court confessing to their crimes and of
- 48:32course not being let out on bail on this
- 48:35occasion ellison spent her christmas day
- 48:38at the hospital and she remembers the
- 48:41treat of the day was that she ate the
- 48:43first
- 48:44solid what she calls the solid food it
- 48:47was this fish soup she remembers how
- 48:50lonely she felt even though people came
- 48:52to visit every day
- 48:54even though this was the news at this
- 48:56point so her whole room was flooded with
- 48:59flowers with the cards wishing her a
- 49:02quick recovery she just saw all of the
- 49:04hospital staff go home to spend their
- 49:07christmas with their families and she
- 49:09wasn't yet
- 49:10on december the 31st as the doctor that
- 49:14operated on her was changing one of the
- 49:16dressings
- 49:18he noticed that the swelling has gotten
- 49:20down and finally he approved the
- 49:22decision that ellie can be released to
- 49:25the care of her loved ones within her
- 49:27home environment everybody insisted for
- 49:31alison to leave the hospital in the
- 49:33wheelchair but just as they reached the
- 49:36threshold ellie stood up from the chair
- 49:39got up and got out into the sunlight
- 49:42because the new year was about to begin
- 49:46in january alison decided to go back to
- 49:49the crime scene just to see it for
- 49:52herself to reconcile with what has
- 49:55happened and also to be able to further
- 49:58describe this once it gets to the court
- 50:01she described it as a clinical
- 50:03experience that helped her gain the
- 50:05mental map of the area
- 50:08and she commemorated it with a picture
- 50:11then she had redone the route of only 90
- 50:14meters that seemed like an eternity for
- 50:16her on the night and it was a beginning
- 50:20point for her to start healing she
- 50:22released an interview on her story with
- 50:25the eastern province harold and by the
- 50:28end of january she was overwhelmed by
- 50:30the support that this interview led to
- 50:33from everybody her family friends the
- 50:36hospital staff so she rose the herald an
- 50:39open letter for fear of meeting any one
- 50:42of you from my heartfelt thanks i have
- 50:45decided to attempt to thank you all
- 50:47collectively
- 50:49each one who sent flowers gifts cards
- 50:52wishes thoughts prayers and love
- 50:55should know how they brought a smile to
- 50:57my face and an added warmth to my heart
- 51:01i have life beautiful people you have my
- 51:05heart for the rest of the month alison
- 51:07will remember interviews coming out with
- 51:10france and teens from
- 51:12jail the stories in these articles would
- 51:15detail the public statement the teens
- 51:17has made saying that he's sorry for what
- 51:19he did
- 51:20as he stands there he has great remorse
- 51:23for his deeds and he apologizes for what
- 51:27he did to her and not just as he
- 51:30apologized for what he did to her he is
- 51:33also asking for mercy another article
- 51:36told the story of france who in front of
- 51:39a magistrate said how he is a good
- 51:41husband and father to his child
- 51:45yeah we'll talk about that he said how
- 51:47his wife and child know only of his good
- 51:50properties
- 51:52he knows he has a problem and when the
- 51:54bad side comes into him then it's like a
- 51:57supernatural power that takes over his
- 52:00body teens would confess to the
- 52:02journalists that he believed in the
- 52:04devil france would admit to his evil
- 52:07side it made him want to kill during sex
- 52:11the newspaper articles called both of
- 52:13them sons of satan meanwhile alison is
- 52:16going back and forth between her house
- 52:19and the hospital to have those wounds
- 52:22regularly examined because she has
- 52:24noticed that the stomach injury resulted
- 52:27in sort of a bulge
- 52:29because there were no muscles to hold
- 52:32her stomach in
- 52:34so she was discussing a possibility of a
- 52:37plastic surgery in the future once
- 52:40the wound was to completely heal
- 52:43she also had to deal with a wound in her
- 52:45neck becoming septic here dr angelo also
- 52:49had to drain
- 52:51everything that has piled up in that
- 52:53wound and to stitch it back again you
- 52:56would think the logical sequence of this
- 52:58story would be for me now to start
- 53:01speaking about the trial
- 53:04well
- 53:05yes that would be very logical but
- 53:07instead i need to piss everybody off
- 53:09including myself over and over again
- 53:12because the police decided rather the
- 53:16judges because the south african legal
- 53:19system doesn't have a jury so you appear
- 53:21in the court of law in front of one or
- 53:24multiple judges
- 53:25well here they decided you know what
- 53:28alison yes she has been through enough
- 53:30like she has identified these people
- 53:33both from a photo lineup then verbalized
- 53:36their names she definitely knows it is
- 53:38them but we need to have an actual
- 53:42in-person lineup and usually in south
- 53:45africa who thought of this just
- 53:47personally contact me because i want to
- 53:49puncture the face right in your nozzle
- 53:52so
- 53:53usually
- 53:54what you would do is you would stand
- 53:57physically no no glass in between the
- 53:59victim and the actual suspects you just
- 54:02stand in front of them in this
- 54:04identification parade and then you have
- 54:07to place your hand on the shoulder
- 54:10of the perpetrator here for the first
- 54:13time ever they actually introduced the
- 54:15glass because
- 54:17justifiably so you would think that
- 54:19somebody like alison a victim a survivor
- 54:22in this story would be petrified to do
- 54:26that to go in person and put your actual
- 54:29hand on the perpetrator who fought to
- 54:30this rule as she bravely identified both
- 54:33of them so did three other women yes you
- 54:37have heard about too you will hear about
- 54:39that in more details
- 54:41and you will also hear about another
- 54:43woman who they tried to abduct right
- 54:46after
- 54:47they did what they did with alison on
- 54:50june 12 1995 alice and bottas trial
- 54:54finally commenced and it will last for
- 54:56between five and six months
- 54:59let us first focus on ellison how she
- 55:02was portrayed described by her friends
- 55:04and this clinical psychologist that
- 55:06examined her for the trial as i told you
- 55:09in ellison every single one of us could
- 55:12find a really great nurturing selfless
- 55:15friend her friends would say that alison
- 55:18was just one of those people you can ask
- 55:20for advice and you always knew that she
- 55:23will be truthful she is that friend who
- 55:26might not give you the answer that you
- 55:28wanted to hear but she will always be
- 55:30willing to listen and to give you a
- 55:33carefully thoughtful opinion she was the
- 55:36person who would never forget anybody's
- 55:38birthday and not just that but again her
- 55:41thoughtfulness comes to light here
- 55:43because she will be the person who would
- 55:45make sure that you get some form of a
- 55:48present like a basket full of wonderful
- 55:51things like a little card or just a
- 55:54bunch of flowers that would arrive as a
- 55:56surprise for you on that day
- 55:58there was a friend who spoke about the
- 56:00time that alison lived in london and she
- 56:03went from south africa to london to
- 56:05visit her and the guest room where she
- 56:08was staying was equipped as if it was a
- 56:10hotel for this friend by alison there
- 56:13were clean towels there were little bars
- 56:15of soaps there were aromatherapy oils
- 56:19lotions for her feet like these
- 56:22different delicious things to make you
- 56:24feel like you were actually on holiday
- 56:27alison even thought to put some warm
- 56:30clothes just in case her friend didn't
- 56:32bring enough like it's completely
- 56:33different approach over here in london
- 56:36so alison was like you know what i have
- 56:38you covered i got you guys you don't
- 56:39even have to ask for it that was the
- 56:41kind of friend she was
- 56:43not only her friends but everybody who
- 56:46met alison was touched by her like her
- 56:49head mistress because alison was the
- 56:51head girl in her school
- 56:53this headmistress described alison as a
- 56:56mature young woman of the utmost
- 56:58integrity and sound moral values she
- 57:01said it wasn't just her strong
- 57:03personality and quiet confidence that
- 57:06made her a great leader as the head girl
- 57:09but that she was always friendly
- 57:11cheerful courteous and considerate and
- 57:14related to others on this human level
- 57:18for the courts these testimonies from
- 57:20the friends and family members would
- 57:22matter but what i will care most about
- 57:25was this testimony from the clinical
- 57:27psychologist
- 57:28because they had to assess her mental
- 57:31health
- 57:32is she in the right state of mind to
- 57:35make these allegations towards these two
- 57:37men
- 57:38how has she been affected before and
- 57:41after this psychologist would say that
- 57:43due to the free separate traumas rape
- 57:46assault and near death alison showed
- 57:50symptoms of ptsd during the interview
- 57:53these were displayed by alison being
- 57:55hyper alert and jumpy exhibiting sleep
- 57:58disturbance and this sleep disturbance
- 58:01in turn impairing her energy and her
- 58:04work performance
- 58:05at the time of the assessment she
- 58:07concluded that alison had symptoms of a
- 58:10major depression and even though she was
- 58:12given antidepressant medications she
- 58:15continued to experience these symptoms
- 58:18she socialized well but due to this
- 58:21experience
- 58:22she will probably always feel different
- 58:25to others
- 58:26the psychologist concluded her testimony
- 58:28by saying that alison was well adjusted
- 58:31emotionally because of the support of
- 58:33her friends and family before the attack
- 58:36and because of this she found meaning in
- 58:39the incident and she is attempting to
- 58:42help others by talking about her
- 58:44suffering and this in turn is helping
- 58:47her to make sense of it as the court
- 58:50learns about alison on the other end of
- 58:53the spectrum the news about france get
- 58:57published in the papers you see france
- 58:59just the week before the trial held a
- 59:02form of press conference he gathered a
- 59:05couple of journalists because he wanted
- 59:07them to interview him because france
- 59:11wanted to publicly denounce satanism
- 59:14well that's not it okay
- 59:16so he had a change of heart he told the
- 59:19press and wanted to denounce satanism
- 59:22and explain how he was possessed by
- 59:24demons
- 59:26he now thought of himself as an apostle
- 59:29paul who killed christians and people in
- 59:32synagogues but managed to change
- 59:34and turn to jesus
- 59:37that weekend
- 59:38he said to the journalists he is going
- 59:41to undergo
- 59:43exorcism to prove to everybody how he
- 59:46has denounced satan and he is a changed
- 59:50man he probably felt like this was going
- 59:52to like really influence the judges i
- 59:54don't know why else do it
- 59:56so this man this is the best reenactment
- 59:59and one of the reasons why i need to
- 1:00:00watch this documentary because this man
- 1:00:03legit legit organized an exorcism for
- 1:00:08the cameras
- 1:00:10in his prison cell so he undergoes the
- 1:00:13exorcism but you see he he messed up and
- 1:00:16he messed up on cameras by his own doing
- 1:00:20because he infamously mixed up incubus
- 1:00:23and succubus one being the male the
- 1:00:26other one being a female demon he mixed
- 1:00:29those two up into the succubus while
- 1:00:32twitching you know you can't really
- 1:00:33multitask in this exorcism thing you
- 1:00:36can't twitch and expel the devil out of
- 1:00:39you and also know the things that you
- 1:00:41learned in grade one of satan's school
- 1:00:43it's hard guys give him cut him some
- 1:00:46slack he put himself through it
- 1:00:48himself through all of it so
- 1:00:51yeah that happened and then at trial he
- 1:00:54decided to take the stand because of
- 1:00:57course he did
- 1:00:58the only thing that i want to know here
- 1:01:01is who were his lawyers and how much
- 1:01:04just how much did i hate him because if
- 1:01:06you were a lawyer
- 1:01:08and it's not like you're day one in law
- 1:01:10school
- 1:01:11you probably know if somebody pleaded
- 1:01:14guilty
- 1:01:15don't put a [ __ ] on the stand
- 1:01:17because they're gonna ruin
- 1:01:19themselves
- 1:01:20and of course he did
- 1:01:23life he spoke about his previous satan
- 1:01:25days but before that he spoke about his
- 1:01:28childhood so let us as well
- 1:01:32sorry i forgot even before he spoke
- 1:01:34about his family he took the stand and
- 1:01:37he apologized
- 1:01:38to the courts about his haircut because
- 1:01:41as ellison states in the book within
- 1:01:44prison walls he made this ridiculous
- 1:01:47haircut where basically it's kind of
- 1:01:49like a form of a man bun with like the
- 1:01:51shaved sides so he apologized to the
- 1:01:54court saying he doesn't have the
- 1:01:56adequate facilities to have a decent
- 1:01:59haircut within prison
- 1:02:01so hard and then he continued speaking a
- 1:02:04bit about his childhood how his dad was
- 1:02:06actually a police officer he remembered
- 1:02:09his church going days and a good strong
- 1:02:12relationship with his parents but then
- 1:02:14he started to dabble
- 1:02:16into satanism and started to skip school
- 1:02:19his grades worsened
- 1:02:21the typical but then he pushes it a bit
- 1:02:24further
- 1:02:25he said he had fallen with a bad crowd
- 1:02:28he considers the bad crowd the weed
- 1:02:30smokers the surfers and the hippies
- 1:02:33super bad extreme literally every single
- 1:02:36person in shortage but sure
- 1:02:39but you see he wasn't going to allow
- 1:02:41them to influence him no
- 1:02:45instead
- 1:02:46he is going to live the life on his own
- 1:02:48rules so what he did is he set the fire
- 1:02:52to one of the school buildings so of
- 1:02:54course the school expels him he doesn't
- 1:02:57get any charges for this anything like
- 1:02:59that because
- 1:03:00he had the reasoning here as well why
- 1:03:03did he burn the school down heavy metal
- 1:03:05heavy metal music oh yeah the underlying
- 1:03:08notes of metal music what are they
- 1:03:11subliminal advertising hidden messages
- 1:03:14that subconsciously make the listener
- 1:03:18commit criminal deeds
- 1:03:20and alisson is there listening like so
- 1:03:22you weren't influenced by hippies
- 1:03:25the criminal gang of all the gangs but
- 1:03:28you were influenced by the lyrics
- 1:03:30of metal music sure
- 1:03:33he never finished school he actually
- 1:03:35never went beyond standard seven i
- 1:03:38suppose that's a great in south africa
- 1:03:40never googled it but when he moved to a
- 1:03:42school in adelaide when he was about 13
- 1:03:4614 he met this young lady he met this
- 1:03:49woman and he was enchanted and he said
- 1:03:53that this was his first introduction to
- 1:03:56satanism this woman told him she was the
- 1:03:59head witch of a cowan and she had
- 1:04:02supernatural powers and he had witnessed
- 1:04:05it he saw her casting spells on people
- 1:04:08hoping to bring ill fortune in their
- 1:04:10lives she showed him the secrets of
- 1:04:12black magic and she had even summoned
- 1:04:15demons that spoke through her
- 1:04:18in these gruff
- 1:04:20manly voices
- 1:04:22showcasing you know their incubus
- 1:04:24strength
- 1:04:25from what i could find i think this was
- 1:04:28either his first wife or one of his
- 1:04:31first sexual experiences
- 1:04:34and soon enough even though he
- 1:04:35participated in these incantations he
- 1:04:38believed she was the head [ __ ]
- 1:04:40he realized that he needed something
- 1:04:43more he wasn't just being turned on by
- 1:04:46regular sex rather he was actually
- 1:04:49fantasizing
- 1:04:50and imagining raping women
- 1:04:53while he was having sex with this woman
- 1:04:56when his parents realize he isn't going
- 1:04:58to school well they decide to at least
- 1:05:00send him to the army but even in the
- 1:05:03army he had issues with authority even
- 1:05:06there he spent a couple of months in
- 1:05:07detention after the army he gets a job
- 1:05:11in a mine and this is where he would
- 1:05:13meet another woman that he would marry
- 1:05:16but he would eventually end up leaving
- 1:05:18her because she she wasn't
- 1:05:20a witch she just didn't understand what
- 1:05:22he needed
- 1:05:24and she according to him didn't satisfy
- 1:05:27him which we know that he isn't
- 1:05:29satisfied by consensual sex at this
- 1:05:31point
- 1:05:32after that he worked for a short time in
- 1:05:34a night club and then he returned to
- 1:05:37port elizabeth where he met and married
- 1:05:40his second wife natalie
- 1:05:42now a full-blown satanist he believes he
- 1:05:46is doing something here because he asks
- 1:05:48that natalie becomes spellbound by him
- 1:05:51that she would never have the strength
- 1:05:53to leave and she also gives him the son
- 1:05:57that would be born on his birthday side
- 1:06:00comment this is why men would always be
- 1:06:02more selfish than women because the
- 1:06:04woman would never wish upon herself as
- 1:06:07narcissistic as she was to bird a child
- 1:06:11on her own birthday
- 1:06:14my grandma birthed my mom on her own
- 1:06:16birthday still the wildest thing in this
- 1:06:19family still cannot comprehend will
- 1:06:21never comprehend imagine going through
- 1:06:22labor on your own birthday no
- 1:06:25no
- 1:06:26no sorry no i'd love them to be a
- 1:06:28scorpio as well and to be messed up if i
- 1:06:30were ever to have a child no moving on
- 1:06:33he was blessed enough for this request
- 1:06:35to be honored and his son was born on
- 1:06:37july the 6th and natalie still stood by
- 1:06:41him throughout the trial
- 1:06:43so he said that this is the proof he
- 1:06:45definitely denounced satanism but this
- 1:06:48is the inevitable proof we can't ignore
- 1:06:50it satan exists the power of satan and
- 1:06:53his demons
- 1:06:54is strong and this should in turn prove
- 1:06:58that it wasn't his will
- 1:07:00to do what he did that night the devil
- 1:07:03made him do it
- 1:07:04in particular not just the devil but
- 1:07:06incubus the demon that he accepted in
- 1:07:09his life when he was 15.
- 1:07:11this is the demon that made him sexually
- 1:07:14insatiable but also highly attractive to
- 1:07:17women this demon gave him telekinetic
- 1:07:20powers that enabled him to move objects
- 1:07:23using only his eyes this is the moment
- 1:07:26where i would get up and be like prove
- 1:07:27it prove it right the [ __ ] now
- 1:07:31and that is why i'm not in a position
- 1:07:34of power because i make crash decisions
- 1:07:36even before he met teens due to this
- 1:07:39demon due to incompass he would act
- 1:07:41alone and rape women on his own he is
- 1:07:44what is known as a gentleman rapist i
- 1:07:47hated terminology as much as the next
- 1:07:49man it has to change but if you remember
- 1:07:53the storyline of that rape him asking
- 1:07:57alessandra she like it does her
- 1:07:59boyfriend do this to her to say that she
- 1:08:02likes it and enjoys it that's the
- 1:08:05principle the guy that chats to you that
- 1:08:08makes you believe that he cares
- 1:08:10when he finished with his testimony in
- 1:08:12the next couple of days alison wouldn't
- 1:08:15be allowed in court until she was to
- 1:08:17testify because the courts were to hear
- 1:08:20the testimonies of other victims
- 1:08:23we find out that the first woman that he
- 1:08:25abducted and raped was actually employed
- 1:08:28by a company to be like one of those
- 1:08:31secret shoppers to spy on the opposite
- 1:08:34business as she was to conduct a survey
- 1:08:37at the pizza place franz just pounced on
- 1:08:40her shoved the gun to her head and told
- 1:08:42her to move over in her car after he
- 1:08:46both sexually assaulted and raped her he
- 1:08:49then drove her to a road house buying
- 1:08:52her a sandwich and a rose
- 1:08:55after then pretending as if he were her
- 1:08:57boyfriend he raped her again once he
- 1:09:01raped her for the second time he dropped
- 1:09:03her off telling her that she was an
- 1:09:05amazing person and that he hoped he
- 1:09:08could make it up to her sometime on june
- 1:09:1113th the courts would hear about the
- 1:09:13young pregnant woman who they attacked
- 1:09:16this was in broad daylight so you can
- 1:09:18see how they're learning from each and
- 1:09:20every attack
- 1:09:22and then making sure that they don't
- 1:09:24repeat the same mistakes with the next
- 1:09:26one
- 1:09:27this attack happened at 12 30 pm the
- 1:09:30same afternoon just the night before
- 1:09:33alison's attack would happen these two
- 1:09:36tried to wrench open her car door for a
- 1:09:39split second though friends would look
- 1:09:41away and this woman managed to lock her
- 1:09:43doors from the inside so they fled judge
- 1:09:47chris johnson would have to make the
- 1:09:49decisions on the verdicts for both teens
- 1:09:52and france based off of their previous
- 1:09:55offenses taking them into consideration
- 1:09:57as well
- 1:09:58and these would include rapes but
- 1:10:00another thing that we'll find out about
- 1:10:02franz during the trial was that his last
- 1:10:05job that his parents got him yet again
- 1:10:08was as a driver but he was found to be
- 1:10:11stealing from his employer leading to
- 1:10:14him actually serving some time in prison
- 1:10:16on unrelated charges to this particular
- 1:10:19crime for three years after which he
- 1:10:22will go out in the streets would rape on
- 1:10:25his own for a while and then would
- 1:10:27eventually meet teens for ellison during
- 1:10:31her trial and her own testimony she said
- 1:10:33she felt really disconnected from it
- 1:10:35like it was somebody else's proceedings
- 1:10:39she'd be making notes on this notepad
- 1:10:41and then passing them back and forth
- 1:10:43sort of chatting through this notepad
- 1:10:45with her mom but what she said she hated
- 1:10:48was the media attention because yes it
- 1:10:51would give light to all of these other
- 1:10:54women victims of both france and teens
- 1:10:57and would speak about their despicable
- 1:10:59crimes but the focus the whole trial was
- 1:11:03the satanism as if these crimes weren't
- 1:11:06graphic and brutal enough like you
- 1:11:09really have material here journalists in
- 1:11:12the media but no everybody was like was
- 1:11:14he actually possessed by the devil were
- 1:11:17both of them how does that work alison
- 1:11:20made the same conclusion i did on
- 1:11:22france's lawyer but unlike me she was
- 1:11:24actually in his presence
- 1:11:26the fact that he is incompetent as [ __ ]
- 1:11:28and grasping at straws she actually said
- 1:11:31his first lawyer stepped down and then
- 1:11:33was replaced by another lawyer who came
- 1:11:36in the middle of the trial he was super
- 1:11:38lost
- 1:11:39and just tried to put up some semblance
- 1:11:42to any argument that he would make like
- 1:11:44when he cross-questioned her she just
- 1:11:47felt like oh not only will i not break
- 1:11:49down but i can handle this and like a
- 1:11:53lot more competent lawyers than this
- 1:11:56teensy's lawyer also irritated her he
- 1:11:59was trying to poke holes in this case
- 1:12:02and badger her over every single minor
- 1:12:04detail for example he asked if teens was
- 1:12:08actually in the car when friends leaned
- 1:12:10over to strangle her
- 1:12:12so alison saw right through it because
- 1:12:15none of these men were like particularly
- 1:12:16intelligent because the lawyer was
- 1:12:19trying to suggest the teens was not in
- 1:12:20the car if he had been he might have
- 1:12:23been able to stop friends how did
- 1:12:27teensy's background fit into this or
- 1:12:29rather how we didn't because with france
- 1:12:32you really don't understand it the guy
- 1:12:34had resources he had a family that loved
- 1:12:37him he could have been whoever and
- 1:12:39whatever he wanted to be
- 1:12:41with teens though even alison would say
- 1:12:45his background seems stranger than
- 1:12:48fiction
- 1:12:49the lawyer would spin a story of
- 1:12:51teensy's father being described as a
- 1:12:54drugged addicted philanderer
- 1:12:56who disappeared right after tinzi's mom
- 1:12:59fell pregnant with him later his father
- 1:13:02would end up in prison but his mother
- 1:13:04wouldn't give up on love because she
- 1:13:06would marry two other times
- 1:13:08everything the only thing we know about
- 1:13:10the second husband was that he was
- 1:13:12described as unsavory characters i don't
- 1:13:15know what that meant but after that
- 1:13:17marriage she would marry a third guy
- 1:13:19that she met through lonely hearts ads
- 1:13:22now i don't know if this woman took the
- 1:13:24course on how to [ __ ] up your child for
- 1:13:27life but first thing that she didn't
- 1:13:29tell young teens was that this third
- 1:13:32husband of hers wasn't his biological
- 1:13:35father the second thing is they were
- 1:13:37allegations of abuse whether it was
- 1:13:39sexual definitely physical by this man
- 1:13:43so teens would flee to a community just
- 1:13:47like franz did with the people who were
- 1:13:50into witchcraft teens found his
- 1:13:52community with
- 1:13:54what according to the court documents
- 1:13:56and the book
- 1:13:57are colored people but this in turn
- 1:14:01meant that he was bullied by the white
- 1:14:04community where he originated from so
- 1:14:07when he had to return to school for
- 1:14:09example he was bullied for that and also
- 1:14:12because during pe when he had to change
- 1:14:15out of the shirt to go into the uniform
- 1:14:18well uh the pupils realized he has the
- 1:14:21third nipple
- 1:14:23and then they called him free teeth
- 1:14:25and that scarred him for life to the
- 1:14:27point that he will actually remove his
- 1:14:29third nipple
- 1:14:31i cannot make this [ __ ] uh i don't wanna
- 1:14:33make this [ __ ] up i didn't understand
- 1:14:35this when it was plot in tv series
- 1:14:38friends back in the 90s and i don't
- 1:14:41understand it now is it the reason
- 1:14:42enough for you to bully somebody
- 1:14:45do you feel how do you feel as people
- 1:14:48with free nipples
- 1:14:50do you feel like it is a shame to you
- 1:14:53like i don't know it's like a bit of
- 1:14:54extra man i was born with extra finger
- 1:14:57on each hand an extra toe on the other
- 1:14:59you just remove it then you get
- 1:15:02over it i suppose with a nipple you
- 1:15:04can't really remove it when you're a
- 1:15:06couple months old but i don't understand
- 1:15:08it somebody explained this fixation to
- 1:15:11me and why would somebody get bullied
- 1:15:13for it
- 1:15:14something where i would maybe like to
- 1:15:16get more information than the nipple
- 1:15:18thing that the whole couple of
- 1:15:20paragraphs are focused on
- 1:15:23is the betrayal part because
- 1:15:26well
- 1:15:27his mom would eventually tell him that
- 1:15:29this is not his biological father but
- 1:15:32wouldn't explain the matter wouldn't say
- 1:15:35who his biological father was or where
- 1:15:37he is now it was only later once his
- 1:15:40biological father was arrested that
- 1:15:43teens will find that out in court his
- 1:15:46lawyers had to present his previous
- 1:15:48criminal record
- 1:15:49so teens completed standard aid then
- 1:15:52joined the army and while serving in the
- 1:15:55army he claimed he had blown off a
- 1:15:57woman's head during an unrest
- 1:16:01and as this evidence was given
- 1:16:04he was laughing in court in allison's
- 1:16:08court and john johnson asks this
- 1:16:10psychologist that was evaluating teens
- 1:16:13why would he find that funny to which
- 1:16:16this guy said that he really can't say
- 1:16:19it was in his opinion that teens had low
- 1:16:22self-esteem had borderline personality
- 1:16:25disorder and this in turn made him
- 1:16:27susceptible to other people's influences
- 1:16:30we learn about teensy's personal life
- 1:16:32and it won't come as a surprise due to
- 1:16:34the low self-esteem the bullying
- 1:16:37the betrayal the fact that he probably
- 1:16:40felt unwanted well because his mom pays
- 1:16:42more attention to who she marries can't
- 1:16:44even tell him about his biological dad
- 1:16:48that he struggled getting a woman rather
- 1:16:51he struggled to get a woman consensually
- 1:16:54so eventually
- 1:16:55after he stopped going to school after
- 1:16:58the army he would move in with his aunt
- 1:17:01and he said he liked it there because
- 1:17:03she didn't beat him and because she fed
- 1:17:06him
- 1:17:06so you can see that the bar is just
- 1:17:08really low
- 1:17:10and this is when he would finally meet
- 1:17:13france in june of 1994. at the time that
- 1:17:16they met teens lived with his aunt and
- 1:17:19he was also recovering from a
- 1:17:21self-inflicted wound to the foot
- 1:17:24he this genius shot himself
- 1:17:27in the foot with a shotgun again nobody
- 1:17:29elaborates on this no let's just dive
- 1:17:32straight into the satanism
- 1:17:35at first franz didn't even realize that
- 1:17:38his friend was only 19 years old but
- 1:17:41soon they both started escaping their
- 1:17:43troubles and their problems and france
- 1:17:46would introduce him to satanism
- 1:17:49the two of them would chill at a
- 1:17:50graveyard and talk about the power of
- 1:17:53the demons and teens said he also wanted
- 1:17:56to experience that power so franz
- 1:17:59started calling him damien which meant
- 1:18:02son of the devil france would say that
- 1:18:04he did this in order to help teens with
- 1:18:07his low self-esteem to really cheer him
- 1:18:10up according to teens on that day when
- 1:18:13they were barbecuing and drinking
- 1:18:15incubus spoke to him telling him to rape
- 1:18:18and kill a pretty woman and the night
- 1:18:21that they abducted alison teens was
- 1:18:24under the influence of this demon
- 1:18:27in both of their testimonies incubus was
- 1:18:30one who was the driving force of all of
- 1:18:32that it was the male demon incubus that
- 1:18:36drove them to rape alison that night
- 1:18:39both of them first france second teens
- 1:18:43it even told them the order to do it in
- 1:18:45and then it was the incubus who told
- 1:18:47them to kill her and it was such a
- 1:18:49strong voice in their heads that they
- 1:18:51couldn't ignore it and if you remember
- 1:18:53when alison asked france not to kill her
- 1:18:56well for a split second he wanted to let
- 1:18:59go of but then incubus was the one
- 1:19:02cheering him on to continue into said
- 1:19:05the answer for everything i mean i only
- 1:19:08wish incubus appeared at court as well
- 1:19:11because when they asked about the area
- 1:19:14where they stabbed her and why not stop
- 1:19:16at the neck area it's clearly enough to
- 1:19:19slit somebody's throat in order to kill
- 1:19:21them why aim for the private parts of
- 1:19:25course that was incubus is doing you see
- 1:19:28france actually wanted to rupture
- 1:19:31alison's kidneys and liver but it was
- 1:19:33incubus who told him to destroy
- 1:19:36her private parts but something that
- 1:19:38doesn't make any sense is that after the
- 1:19:41attack i mean none of it makes sense
- 1:19:43let's be honest but after the attack
- 1:19:45they went through alice's stuff in the
- 1:19:47car they emptied certain things they
- 1:19:49looked for her id
- 1:19:52and well why would you do that if you
- 1:19:54were under the spell of the devil
- 1:19:57clearly there was a rush you presumed
- 1:20:00she is dead that you had killed her
- 1:20:03the adrenaline goes down why are you
- 1:20:06emptying her car like what is the
- 1:20:08purpose of that why is this supposed
- 1:20:11demon caring about what she has in her
- 1:20:13car
- 1:20:14france said that he was looking for an
- 1:20:16identification like who she really was
- 1:20:19where she worked and alison said that
- 1:20:21never made any sense to her because they
- 1:20:24believed that she was dead so there was
- 1:20:26no address to come by to finish off what
- 1:20:30they started
- 1:20:31and also that didn't make sense with the
- 1:20:33devil made me do it defense something
- 1:20:36else that doesn't fit into that defense
- 1:20:39is that they disposed of the smaller
- 1:20:41knife
- 1:20:42but they didn't dispose of the knife
- 1:20:44that actually had alison's blood they in
- 1:20:47fact used it to make breakfast the next
- 1:20:49day
- 1:20:50so
- 1:20:51maybe they just aren't operating by the
- 1:20:54guidance of the smartest demon just to
- 1:20:57ensure that nobody really buys into this
- 1:21:00defense there was this colonel that
- 1:21:02testified against france and teens that
- 1:21:06actually believed that satanism existed
- 1:21:09and that they were people who were
- 1:21:10possessed
- 1:21:12but he said based on everything that he
- 1:21:14had seen including that camera footage
- 1:21:16from prison
- 1:21:17and everything that he had heard he just
- 1:21:20didn't believe that it was these two
- 1:21:21individuals they wanted that to happen
- 1:21:25but he didn't why because if france had
- 1:21:28really been possessed he would have
- 1:21:31raped his own wife when the demons
- 1:21:33requested for it he also wouldn't be
- 1:21:36able to think as logically to put the
- 1:21:38condom on which is what happened with
- 1:21:41one of the victims as he was raping her
- 1:21:44also if you remember both of them
- 1:21:47confessed in detail to melvin everything
- 1:21:51that they have done which is something
- 1:21:52they wouldn't be able to remember
- 1:21:54clearly if they were actually possessed
- 1:21:58and this colonel also said something i
- 1:22:00found really interesting and that is
- 1:22:02that the person has a choice or whether
- 1:22:05or not they are going to obey the demon
- 1:22:08so even if you are actually into
- 1:22:10satanism you should know this so if you
- 1:22:12were to awaken a demon and there to tell
- 1:22:14you kill this person you can refuse to
- 1:22:17obey and if you commit a crime under the
- 1:22:20influence of a demon you will not know
- 1:22:22about it or remember it afterwards
- 1:22:25another thing that happens after an
- 1:22:27exorcism in most cases
- 1:22:30is that people who were at some points
- 1:22:33genuinely possessed
- 1:22:35show remorse and guilt for their deeds
- 1:22:38and this has never happened with france
- 1:22:41so let us recap on the two perpetrators
- 1:22:44and speak about the motivations
- 1:22:46for them and for gang rape in general
- 1:22:50so these two individuals once they met
- 1:22:54they were both troubled
- 1:22:56france was a clearly dominant one the
- 1:22:59guy that wouldn't fall under the
- 1:23:01influence of anything even though during
- 1:23:02the trial he will try to prove that that
- 1:23:05is not the case and that he was heavily
- 1:23:07influenced by
- 1:23:08anything that walks talks or sings metal
- 1:23:11music and on the other hand we have
- 1:23:13teens who is easily impressionable
- 1:23:16both of them meet and find something to
- 1:23:19bond over find their fixation something
- 1:23:23that is going to glue this friendship
- 1:23:25together
- 1:23:26france did have a previous fixation with
- 1:23:29satanism and he had some knowledge of it
- 1:23:33but with teens i believe that satanism
- 1:23:35was also really about the wish to belong
- 1:23:40the desire to finally a have a friend
- 1:23:43not be bullied by anybody
- 1:23:46be understood and fully immersed with
- 1:23:49somebody who shares another passion if
- 1:23:52he had met france and france was to tell
- 1:23:54him that he is into bingo teens would
- 1:23:56have been into it this guy was desperate
- 1:23:59to find a friend to find somebody to
- 1:24:01relate to so we have a manipulator and a
- 1:24:04very impressionable kid but both of them
- 1:24:07because of different reasons have shown
- 1:24:10some objectification of humans in the
- 1:24:13past they are not displaying this
- 1:24:15violence because the woman's humanity is
- 1:24:18lacking the humanity is the problem
- 1:24:21these two france basing it on his
- 1:24:24previous relationship with the witches
- 1:24:27and his previous experience with
- 1:24:28satanism and teens basing it off of
- 1:24:32previous bullying his mother hiding that
- 1:24:35he was technically disowned by his
- 1:24:37father and hiding his whole background
- 1:24:39history
- 1:24:41will both objectify women but for one of
- 1:24:44them for the leader for france he will
- 1:24:47have to objectify his own friend in this
- 1:24:51process as well and to touch upon the
- 1:24:54group rape or gang rape
- 1:24:56it is usually performed due to the peer
- 1:24:59pressure if you remember even in the
- 1:25:01alison story teens wasn't super keen to
- 1:25:05proceed because well his friend
- 1:25:08just raped alison he knew in the back of
- 1:25:11his mind that what he is doing is wrong
- 1:25:14that he might be breaking the law
- 1:25:17but instead what is important to him is
- 1:25:20not to break this friendship because he
- 1:25:23depends on it because he might never be
- 1:25:26prosecuted or caught even for the crime
- 1:25:29that he is committing right now but if
- 1:25:31he backs out and well
- 1:25:34france here sees that he's going to be
- 1:25:37considered as coward he's going to lose
- 1:25:39the only friend that he has
- 1:25:42so the consequences that they are
- 1:25:44thinking about are only the immediate
- 1:25:46ones
- 1:25:47the men that are involved in gang rape
- 1:25:50might be more worried about their
- 1:25:52reputation with each other
- 1:25:54and their status as dominant one or the
- 1:25:58one who is very much dependent on that
- 1:26:00person being their friend rather than
- 1:26:03the life and the humanity of the person
- 1:26:06they are assaulting that's that on the
- 1:26:09motivations i don't know does that make
- 1:26:11it clear
- 1:26:12in anybody's
- 1:26:14head it's all about the peer pressure in
- 1:26:16the end and not even the devil making
- 1:26:19them do it but let us now talk about the
- 1:26:21rest of the trial there was a two-week
- 1:26:24break after which the trial resumed and
- 1:26:27within that break alison arranged for a
- 1:26:29magazine called you
- 1:26:32to interview her and that interview was
- 1:26:35done but it was only to be published
- 1:26:37once the sentence was handed over the
- 1:26:39court would then hear the testimonies of
- 1:26:42melvin the police officer the
- 1:26:44psychologist testifying on teensies and
- 1:26:47france's behalf there was a reverend
- 1:26:49testifying on france's behalf saying
- 1:26:52that he has witnessed the exorcism and
- 1:26:54based on it he believes that france is
- 1:26:57indeed still possessed because he has
- 1:26:59struggled to utter the word christ
- 1:27:02during that exorcism that is what we are
- 1:27:04basing this decision on
- 1:27:06evidence but then there was an actual
- 1:27:08clergyman testifying for the prosecution
- 1:27:11that this is just a ploy and that france
- 1:27:14is the only person responsible for his
- 1:27:17own part
- 1:27:18in his actions and that this defense is
- 1:27:22used purely to distract everybody else
- 1:27:25from those
- 1:27:27during his verdict statement judge
- 1:27:30johnson said that he didn't accept the
- 1:27:33incubus defense he said france
- 1:27:35voluntarily dabbled into satanism and it
- 1:27:39would be a sad day if a belief in
- 1:27:41satanism was a mitigating factor
- 1:27:44teens also was influenced by france but
- 1:27:48he was not just a slavish follower he
- 1:27:51was the one to make the first cut in
- 1:27:53alison's neck
- 1:27:55and after he was caught he had shown no
- 1:27:57remorse for his deeds not just that but
- 1:28:00he was proud he was proudly using the
- 1:28:03knife to prepare the food the judge said
- 1:28:06it was clear that they have premeditated
- 1:28:08this and that they have wanted to kill
- 1:28:10alison just because they felt like it he
- 1:28:14finalized his statement by saying i
- 1:28:16would be shirking my duties if i did not
- 1:28:19remove them from the society forever
- 1:28:22france would end up getting free life
- 1:28:24terms with no parole and teens got one
- 1:28:27life term and 25 years on top of that
- 1:28:30without a parole as well the judge also
- 1:28:33said after the verdict was handed over
- 1:28:36that he wants a note to be put into
- 1:28:38their files signed by him to say that if
- 1:28:42they ever for any reason reach parole
- 1:28:45that whoever is their parole officer has
- 1:28:48to read that note stating that based off
- 1:28:51of judges decision they are never going
- 1:28:54to be able to reintegrate into the
- 1:28:56society and that they should never be
- 1:28:59let out after her trial alison returned
- 1:29:02to the insurance which is where she
- 1:29:04worked in before
- 1:29:06but she realized more and more i mean
- 1:29:08she realized this even after the attack
- 1:29:11as she was slowly reintegrating
- 1:29:14back in and trying to move on with her
- 1:29:16life
- 1:29:17that it was increasingly hard like where
- 1:29:20she was perfectionist before appearing
- 1:29:22on time delivering to deadlines she
- 1:29:25found it took her twice as much time now
- 1:29:28to deliver she would be staying
- 1:29:30late she would have to call in sick to
- 1:29:33just even go visit melvin to smoke a
- 1:29:36cigarette with him and just chat because
- 1:29:39she thought there were only certain
- 1:29:40people who went through this with her
- 1:29:43that could understand including tien
- 1:29:45including melvin
- 1:29:47the doctors that she would visit every
- 1:29:50week as well and the psychologists and
- 1:29:53therapists she would have so eventually
- 1:29:56she quit her job in insurance banking
- 1:30:00because she realized increasingly as she
- 1:30:02was doing that
- 1:30:04when she would reach out to people
- 1:30:06through her interviews and then through
- 1:30:09small gatherings where she would go on
- 1:30:11stage to speak
- 1:30:13that she touched more souls she related
- 1:30:16to more people as she was sharing her
- 1:30:18story as she would get invitations to
- 1:30:22attend these events and share her
- 1:30:24experience with others she also realized
- 1:30:27that it made her feel better once she
- 1:30:30spoke about it and that would lead to
- 1:30:32her wanting to do it again
- 1:30:34she also realized it had a great effect
- 1:30:36on her mental health because she would
- 1:30:39have depression for the longest time
- 1:30:42nightmares during the night there were
- 1:30:44days where she didn't want to get up to
- 1:30:46go to work to do anything but sharing
- 1:30:49her story with the people made her
- 1:30:51choose life over and over again instead
- 1:30:55of blaming this on the perpetrators in
- 1:30:58order to move on
- 1:31:00because of these opportunities she got
- 1:31:02to write a book she got to participate
- 1:31:05in her own documentary share this
- 1:31:07experience and share all the people that
- 1:31:10have helped her out through it and the
- 1:31:13only other time after the verdict after
- 1:31:15the therapy that she felt like she might
- 1:31:18fall into a depression again
- 1:31:20was in 2012. this is when she read an
- 1:31:23article that france and teens might get
- 1:31:26parole
- 1:31:27this was based on yet another illogical
- 1:31:30rule in south african legal system where
- 1:31:33everybody imprisoned before 2004 who
- 1:31:37served 13 years could get out so
- 1:31:40these two were to be eligible but
- 1:31:43ellison by this point had a website and
- 1:31:45she quickly made a petition got people
- 1:31:48to sign it to send it to the courts she
- 1:31:50even wrote letters to them asking them
- 1:31:53not to release them
- 1:31:56not only did this letter get printed out
- 1:31:59and shown to france i think maybe teens
- 1:32:02as well
- 1:32:03so that they read it but then they
- 1:32:06decided to respond france responded by
- 1:32:11getting the girl that he was dating so
- 1:32:13there was this girl outside of prison
- 1:32:14that he was dating seeing
- 1:32:16she was his pen pal well
- 1:32:19her mother got in touch with alison and
- 1:32:22ellis was like nah this is madness i'm
- 1:32:24not even entertaining this like how can
- 1:32:27you
- 1:32:28get in touch with me as a mother
- 1:32:30knowing my story nah i'm entertaining
- 1:32:33this [ __ ]
- 1:32:34she got in touch with alison of course
- 1:32:36because alison is so good nature that
- 1:32:39she will want these two men in
- 1:32:41particular france to go out in the
- 1:32:43street so he can get married again and
- 1:32:46live his best life
- 1:32:48not today [ __ ] the second thing
- 1:32:50that france did from prison after
- 1:32:52reading this letter
- 1:32:54he wanted to be interviewed and to be
- 1:32:56featured in alison's documentary yeah
- 1:32:59because he contributed to it right
- 1:33:01he wanted a forgiveness letter from
- 1:33:04alison that then he would have probably
- 1:33:06shared to the public let's be honest and
- 1:33:08he also wanted profit shares from both
- 1:33:12her book sales and the motivational
- 1:33:15speaking because had it not been
- 1:33:18for france she wouldn't have this
- 1:33:21career
- 1:33:22you know when some people lose their
- 1:33:25dignity the only thing they're left with
- 1:33:27is just their audacity i don't know
- 1:33:29where they get it from just audacity
- 1:33:32strikes again
- 1:33:33so of course alison declined don't think
- 1:33:36i have to even tell you that
- 1:33:38to this day as far as i know they are
- 1:33:40still in prison
- 1:33:42and alison moved on she got married
- 1:33:46and she ended up having two kids with
- 1:33:49this man even after
- 1:33:51all of the doctors told her that it just
- 1:33:54won't be a possibility for her to be a
- 1:33:56mother
- 1:33:57in 2008 she would divorce from her
- 1:34:01husband and she doesn't share much about
- 1:34:03the divorce but it was on amicable terms
- 1:34:06yet again just like with everybody in
- 1:34:08ellison's life
- 1:34:10she
- 1:34:11could have never even made an enemy like
- 1:34:14she has so much forgiveness for even the
- 1:34:16perpetrators
- 1:34:18she speaks with respect about her
- 1:34:20husband and he even wrote a chapter in
- 1:34:22this book about how they met about their
- 1:34:25kids about their life that they built
- 1:34:27together about who ellison was
- 1:34:31and it just seemed like alison saw this
- 1:34:34picture and she saw that she was valuing
- 1:34:36this picture of a happy marriage
- 1:34:39over valuing herself so she chose to
- 1:34:42divorce this guy but it's just so
- 1:34:45brilliant to me how
- 1:34:48selfless and pathetic i don't even have
- 1:34:51the words to describe what this woman is
- 1:34:54after the ordeal she had been
- 1:34:57i would not be
- 1:34:59able to become half of the woman that
- 1:35:01she is i would have so much revenge in
- 1:35:03my heart for the people that i don't
- 1:35:06know how i would ever even separate from
- 1:35:08that where this case is now i actually
- 1:35:10checked the website now just to see if
- 1:35:12i'm not missing out on anything alison
- 1:35:15still has a website you can get her book
- 1:35:18you can watch her documentary on amazon
- 1:35:20prime
- 1:35:21also she's still an inspirational
- 1:35:23speaker so i'm not sure if you're in
- 1:35:26south africa in any of the areas where i
- 1:35:28mentioned today if she might be in yours
- 1:35:31to just go and actually
- 1:35:33see her speak in public she got
- 1:35:35nominated for the port elizabeth citizen
- 1:35:38of the year award and tien the guy that
- 1:35:42helped her out during that experience
- 1:35:44actually went on to become a doctor and
- 1:35:47he was the one who assisted her during
- 1:35:50the birth of her second child i'm
- 1:35:52getting whisper was just
- 1:35:54freaking reading this he also got paul
- 1:35:57harry's award for humanitarianism
- 1:35:59because of this
- 1:36:01unfortunately in 2020 the legendary
- 1:36:05detective melvin humpel died from a
- 1:36:07heart attack
- 1:36:09at his home
- 1:36:10and he was still i forgot how old he was
- 1:36:12i think in his 50s or 60s still like
- 1:36:15relatively
- 1:36:16young and what a legend that guy also
- 1:36:18has like the nicest smiley face you just
- 1:36:21know he's a good natured person just
- 1:36:24like most of the people in this story so
- 1:36:26you know choice to see the good i guess
- 1:36:29and choose to keep those two
- 1:36:31[ __ ] in prison i will put a
- 1:36:33petition in a description box because i
- 1:36:36found it on her website i managed to
- 1:36:38fill it in so i suppose it's still
- 1:36:41a go it still matters somewhere to keep
- 1:36:44these two
- 1:36:45in prison because the more people they
- 1:36:47fill it out you fill out like the region
- 1:36:49and the country you're filling it out
- 1:36:51from
- 1:36:52so i guess that helps her than if they
- 1:36:56ever face parole again she can use that
- 1:36:59to back her case up to say again there
- 1:37:02is this amount of people supporting this
- 1:37:04decision but that is indeed where this
- 1:37:08video ends
- 1:37:09her story doesn't she is still changing
- 1:37:12lives of so many people i can't even
- 1:37:15imagine if somebody even went through
- 1:37:18a quarter of her ordeal and then goes to
- 1:37:22see her speak
- 1:37:24share her experience
- 1:37:26you must feel so empowered because as a
- 1:37:29person who is lucky enough not to have
- 1:37:30gone through
- 1:37:32any of the souls and offenses i have
- 1:37:34spoken about today
- 1:37:36i just was so
- 1:37:39mind blown with this whole story
- 1:37:42it's just on another level what humans
- 1:37:44can do to other humans and their
- 1:37:46reasonings behind it and then how they
- 1:37:48try to justify it and how other humans
- 1:37:53react to that how they react to such
- 1:37:55violence being committed against them
- 1:37:59so if you have been
- 1:38:01enjoying is a weird world to use here
- 1:38:04if you
- 1:38:05like the stories
- 1:38:07that i am telling you during hornsville
- 1:38:10and just in general on my channel don't
- 1:38:12forget to like and subscribe i should
- 1:38:14probably share my own socials i think
- 1:38:16they're in the description box share
- 1:38:18them on the screen right now
- 1:38:20for you to follow me on my personal
- 1:38:22pages on instagram and twitter and tick
- 1:38:25tock or whatever
- 1:38:26it's mostly maya's meltdown so
- 1:38:28professional second i wonder why
- 1:38:30nobody's contact me tastify
- 1:38:33sponsorship okay
- 1:38:35now stop being a [ __ ] yeah follow me
- 1:38:38on my socials and like and subscribe and
- 1:38:40now i would like to end this again on a
- 1:38:42serious note
- 1:38:44with departing words from alison and her
- 1:38:47book because this particular paragraph
- 1:38:51just
- 1:38:51wraps it all up and she can end this
- 1:38:54video much better than i can alison
- 1:38:56chose life over and over again and
- 1:38:59according to her we must learn to live
- 1:39:02not in our skin but through it
- 1:39:05when we live through our skin we connect
- 1:39:08with the world outside
- 1:39:09open ourselves to it without judgment or
- 1:39:13expectation
- 1:39:14we will see the signs along the way we
- 1:39:17will notice the little hints that come
- 1:39:19along and help to guide us
- 1:39:22if we are self-absorbed we cannot take
- 1:39:24in the vista outside
- 1:39:27we must learn to embrace the chaos but
- 1:39:30never allow it to embrace us
- 1:39:32knowing it is there is half the battle
- 1:39:35one and you will not be surprised when
- 1:39:38it strikes
