  1. 0:00I remember in a lot of excruciating
  2. 0:02detail what it took me to get here. Um
  3. 0:05but I will say that I
  4. 0:07had a ruthless focus on dollars per
  5. 0:09hour.
  6. 0:10And so
  7. 0:11and I'm just giving tactical advice
  8. 0:13right now. But everything that I could
  9. 0:16trade away for more time
  10. 0:20doing the thing that made me money was
  11. 0:22what I did. And so I remember the first
  12. 0:25time I made a $500 sale.
  13. 0:28And it took me 30 minutes.
  14. 0:29And I was like
  15. 0:31every hour of every day, this is what
  16. 0:34I'm going to do. And anything that is
  17. 0:36not talking to someone
  18. 0:38in exchange for them giving me a credit
  19. 0:40card so that I can charge it and make
  20. 0:41$500.
  21. 0:43Anything that makes me less than $250
  22. 0:45per hour or per per 30 minutes,
  23. 0:47I'm giving to somebody else. And so
  24. 0:49after that first sale, I was like, I'm
  25. 0:50never cooking again. I'm never going
  26. 0:52grocery shopping again. I'm not cleaning
  27. 0:54again cuz I knew that in one sale, I
  28. 0:56could pay for that person for the month.
  29. 0:59And so like like the ruthless focus on
  30. 1:02what can I do that creates an input to
  31. 1:05output being money equation?
  32. 1:08And me at least for me, it was pouring
  33. 1:10everything I possibly could into the
  34. 1:11input and eliminating everything else. I
  35. 1:14made this video on Facebook before I was
  36. 1:16quote Alex for Mosey years ago when I
  37. 1:18still had six gyms before I even did the
  38. 1:19turnarounds.
  39. 1:21And
  40. 1:22I I made this video almost as
  41. 1:23documentation but I said
  42. 1:25so I want to open up my seventh, eighth,
  43. 1:27ninth, and 10th location and I have the
  44. 1:29spots picked out.
  45. 1:31And I'm already working
  46. 1:34all of the hours that I'm awake.
  47. 1:36And I've
  48. 1:37already given up Saturdays. So the only
  49. 1:40thing that I have left is like Sundays
  50. 1:43and evenings.
  51. 1:45And so
  52. 1:46I am no longer going to be watching any
  53. 1:49football and I'm no longer going to have
  54. 1:51Netflix at all.
  55. 1:54And that is what I'm giving up for
  56. 1:55seven, eight, nine, and 10.
  57. 1:58And I remember just making this video of
  58. 1:59like
  59. 2:01that's what I'm sacrificing. And I think
  60. 2:03a lot of people create these to-do
  61. 2:04lists, when it in my experience it's
  62. 2:06been so much more useful to write down
  63. 2:08all the things that I'm willing to
  64. 2:09sacrifice. Because if you sacrifice
  65. 2:12everything,
  66. 2:13there's nothing left than to do the one
  67. 2:15thing that matters. And I think Jerry
  68. 2:17Seinfeld talks about this from a writing
  69. 2:18perspective. He says that every day, no
  70. 2:20matter what, he sits down and he writes
  71. 2:23for 2 hours. Now, he doesn't have to
  72. 2:25write, but he's not allowed to do
  73. 2:26anything else. And so he can sit there,
  74. 2:29but there's nothing else to do except
  75. 2:30for write jokes.
  76. 2:32And so I think a lot about that from the
  77. 2:35climb perspective, which is like most of
  78. 2:38everyone who's listening to this who
  79. 2:39isn't achieving what they want is [ __ ]
  80. 2:41with their time. They think that they're
  81. 2:42spending all their time working, but
  82. 2:44your output, like you don't even know
  83. 2:45how to work. I'm being really real with
  84. 2:46you. Like you think you know how to
  85. 2:47work, you don't know how to work.
  86. 2:49Like the amount of output, like and I
  87. 2:50will I'll measure this by like what is
  88. 2:51your output? It's probably not as high
  89. 2:53as you think.
  90. 2:54And so, [snorts]
  91. 2:56rather than trying to learn all these
  92. 2:57productivity hacks, the ultimate
  93. 2:58productivity hack is no.
  94. 3:02N O
  95. 3:03is you stop doing [ __ ]
  96. 3:05And then when you create space,
  97. 3:07then you can fill it with the thing that
  98. 3:08matters. But trying to add on more to
  99. 3:11your schedule of all the things that
  100. 3:12you're not willing to sacrifice is the
  101. 3:14very reason that you're not doing what
  102. 3:15you need to do.
  103. 3:16>> Real quick, if you're a business owner
  104. 3:18and you're not growing as fast as you'd
  105. 3:19like, I'd like to give you a free gift.
  106. 3:21So, my team and I put together the 100
  107. 3:24million dollar scaling roadmap, which is
  108. 3:25basically 200 hours of us looking over
  109. 3:27all the portfolio companies we've had
  110. 3:28and what stages of growth they went
  111. 3:31through and more importantly, where they
  112. 3:32got stuck and how they got past it. And
  113. 3:34so we broke it in these 10 stages and we
  114. 3:36made this little kind of quiz thing
  115. 3:38where if you put in your business
  116. 3:39information, it'll tell you where you're
  117. 3:40at and the most important part for you,
  118. 3:42what to do for each of functions of
  119. 3:43business across product, marketing,
  120. 3:45sales, customer success, recruiting, IT,
  121. 3:47human resources, and finance. And so, no
  122. 3:49matter what you're struggling with,
  123. 3:51someone else has already struggled with
  124. 3:52it and solved it. And so I'd like to
  125. 3:54give you this thing absolutely free. You
  126. 3:56can go to acquisition.com/roadmap,
  127. 3:57plug in your business information, and
  128. 3:59if you want us to actually help you
  129. 4:01deconstruct the business and you're
  130. 4:03trying to scale, we'd love to help you
  131. 4:04out. On the thank you page, you can just
  132. 4:05book a call with my team and we will
  133. 4:08look at the business, see if we can
  134. 4:10help, and if we can, we'll invite you
  135. 4:11out to Vegas and we'll do this in person
  136. 4:13live.
