- 0:00All right. What is up everybody?
- 0:02Back for another video. We are doing a
- 0:04day in my life
- 0:05as a content creator and also an airline
- 0:08pilot on call. I'm actually on call
- 0:10today starting at 5:00 p.m. As usual, I
- 0:13do the D reserve. If you don't know, as
- 0:15an airline pilot, you can choose to be
- 0:17on call or have a line schedule where
- 0:19you know where you're flying and I am
- 0:21choosing the the reserve schedule almost
- 0:23every single month and I choose the one
- 0:25later in the day. So, 5:00 p.m. to
- 0:26midnight um so I can get a lot of my
- 0:28stuff done, workouts, get content done
- 0:32um before I'm on call to go fly. And my
- 0:35last two trips, like for reference, when
- 0:37you do get called on those those later
- 0:39calls
- 0:40the
- 0:42let's say the last three, two of them
- 0:43were to Denver and back and my last one
- 0:45was to Vegas and back and landing at
- 0:47like 8:00 in the morning or whatever.
- 0:49So, slept in a decent amount. It's
- 0:51almost 10:00 a.m. and we're getting some
- 0:53work in. Today, we are shooting for
- 0:55Skechers. Um so, we're doing short-form
- 0:58content for them. This is their new
- 1:00Arrow Burst with the slip-in technology
- 1:03and they're pretty sick. I mean, I'm not
- 1:06going to This isn't an ad. I'm not doing
- 1:08like a YouTube ad for them, but I'm a
- 1:10fan of the look. So far, I'm a fan of
- 1:12the feel. They slip in. So, anyway we're
- 1:14doing a video for them.
- 1:16I'm also shooting for Factor today. I
- 1:19have to get a video done for them and
- 1:22also doing some coaching stuff. So, I
- 1:24stay busy even before I go fly with my
- 1:27side hustle kind of main hustle of
- 1:28content. My buddy Joe Barbujas here. He
- 1:31was here for the last couple couple
- 1:33days. We hit some runs. He's a pilot as
- 1:35well and
- 1:37he's one of my clients. So, we're going
- 1:39to do a workout today after this run
- 1:42and we'll go over some form stuff. If I
- 1:44feel like the form needs to be
- 1:45corrected, he's on like a fat loss
- 1:48muscle gain journey. So, I'll kind of
- 1:49talk through like how we've structured
- 1:50that programming and diet programming
- 1:54and lifting programming for him. And um
- 1:57yeah, so we're going to hit a run, a
- 1:58lift, and then I'll be back on call at
- 2:015:00 p.m. So,
- 2:03full day.
- 2:05But, uh first things first, we're going
- 2:06to hit this run. We're going to do 3
- 2:08miles easy and then 2 miles of kind of
- 2:10progressing into some faster paces. So,
- 2:14nothing too long or too intense, but
- 2:17adding a little bit of speed work in.
- 2:19So, that's uh the first thing for the
- 2:21day.
- 2:22Let's get it.
- 2:30>> [music]
- 2:37[music]
- 2:43[music]
- 2:48[music]
- 2:50>> All right, run done. We did 5.23 miles,
- 2:537:50 average pace,
- 2:55and 142 on the average heart rate.
- 2:58Started super easy, 3 miles, and the
- 2:59last 2 miles negative split. Ended on
- 3:01like a 6:30-ish pace.
- 3:04But, yeah, actually really like the
- 3:06shoes. Super cushy, so I kind of like a
- 3:08max cushion shoe, but they have that
- 3:11H-wing, which gives it a nice little pop
- 3:14if you want to go fast as well, and just
- 3:16like a comfortable shoe to slip in and
- 3:18out of.
- 3:19Um
- 3:20So, yeah, I would recommend.
- 3:23And run is done. As you can see, in 5
- 3:26miles, I'm absolutely
- 3:28drenched. So, I'm going to rehydrate,
- 3:30have some breakfast as usual, and then
- 3:32get into our lift in an hour or so. Um I
- 3:36usually like to split it up, but when
- 3:37Dante's here, we try to try to get that
- 3:40a little bit faster. But, like my advice
- 3:41to you guys is to always do actually
- 3:44what you're prioritizing
- 3:46first.
- 3:47Right now, I've actually been shifting
- 3:49my lifts to the morning and then my runs
- 3:53to later because I am more so [music]
- 3:54prioritizing putting on some muscle and
- 3:56strength. And Hyrox workouts, so I'll
- 4:00usually do those in the morning, and
- 4:01then I've been doing sunset runs. Today,
- 4:03we got to switch it up, you know, when
- 4:05things are needed. We needed to film
- 4:06this video, and usually the lighting's a
- 4:08little bit better earlier in the morning
- 4:10and when it's not like super super high,
- 4:12and I just wanted to make sure we get
- 4:13that done.
- 4:15Um
- 4:16and get Dante out of here. So,
- 4:17yeah, run done for the day, breakfast,
- 4:20and then we're going to do a pull
- 4:21workout with Joe and possibly my buddy
- 4:23Corey,
- 4:24and we'll talk technique and
- 4:26how to put on muscle over time and
- 4:29also lose some fat.
- 4:31So,
- 4:31let's do it. I'm actually going to hit
- 4:33the plunge. I haven't plunged in a
- 4:35little while,
- 4:36or I haven't been plunging very
- 4:37consistently, but I did do it recently
- 4:39because I just got it fixed. Um so,
- 4:41yeah, this is the All-In-Plunge. I love
- 4:43having it out here. I'm really thinking
- 4:45about getting a sauna out here. I'm just
- 4:46trying to figure out which one to get.
- 4:49Um but hopefully that'll happen in the
- 4:50next
- 4:51let's say 6 months or something. But,
- 4:53I'm just going to take a dip, hop in,
- 4:55maybe chill for like 30 seconds to a
- 4:57minute, and then hop out. I haven't been
- 4:59strict on myself on like 2 to 3 minutes.
- 5:01I was kind of doing it to feel good and
- 5:02be like
- 5:04re-energized and kind of cool off,
- 5:05honestly, after a run like that.
- 5:08And I'm just kind of hot right now, so I
- 5:10just want to kind of hop in. So,
- 5:12let's do it.
- 5:16>> [sighs]
- 5:21[sighs]
- 5:33>> Breakfast time, post run.
- 5:35This is Joe.
- 5:36>> How's it going?
- 5:37>> My buddy Joe. We We actually met flying
- 5:39for the airline that I currently fly
- 5:40for, but he moved on to a two different
- 5:43airline.
- 5:44>> Yep.
- 5:44>> And now he is actually one of my
- 5:45clients. We're doing a little body
- 5:47recomp, fat loss, muscle gain.
- 5:50So, next time you see me, he's going to
- 5:51be jacked. He's already pretty
- 5:52jacked.
- 5:53>> I'm not there yet, but we're getting
- 5:54there.
- 5:55>> Next time he is going to be freaking
- 5:56traps going to be tickling his earlobes,
- 5:59but he's on a little bit of like a fat
- 6:01loss journey.
- 6:02So, we're going to kind of like compare
- 6:04my breakfast to his breakfast. I'm kind
- 6:06of in a little bit of like a build,
- 6:08trying to either maintain or gain a
- 6:10little bit, and he's trying to lose. So,
- 6:13we're going to eat the exact same thing
- 6:15with a couple little differences.
- 6:17So, what do you usually like if you're
- 6:19if you're at home like on a on a regular
- 6:21regular basis?
- 6:22>> three eggs with maybe like some diced
- 6:24ham,
- 6:25>> Nice.
- 6:25>> tortilla.
- 6:26>> Okay.
- 6:27>> uh before that, maybe a little bit of
- 6:29yogurt, blueberries.
- 6:30>> Perfect.
- 6:31>> Yeah.
- 6:32>> Yeah, that's that's solid. So, it's
- 6:34going to be pretty similar today. It'll
- 6:36just be
- 6:38slightly different just like the
- 6:39breakfast that I usually have. So, I'm
- 6:41going to have five eggs,
- 6:44and then he's going to have three eggs,
- 6:46and then I'll have
- 6:48two pieces of sourdough,
- 6:50and he'll have one piece of sourdough.
- 6:52So, you don't have to drastically change
- 6:55your diet
- 6:56if
- 6:58you are trying to lose weight or gain
- 6:59weight. You just have to change portion
- 7:00size. So, you know, I if anything, I
- 7:03would cut back on probably the carbs. It
- 7:06depends on how you're training and what
- 7:08you need the carbs for, but we already
- 7:10ran.
- 7:11Now, we need a little bit of carbs, but
- 7:13not quite as much.
- 7:16Um so,
- 7:17you know, I wouldn't take out
- 7:20the protein necessarily,
- 7:22but you can just kind of change the carb
- 7:24portions.
- 7:26So, five eggs, sourdough, and the
- 7:30parfait. And also like all add peanut
- 7:31butter. If you're trying to cut back on
- 7:33some carbs and some fats and some extra
- 7:35calories, you can do a little less
- 7:37peanut butter or no peanut butter at
- 7:39all. Um
- 7:40and I would definitely add in the
- 7:42blueberries as well or some some fruit.
- 7:44>> So we're like 3 weeks in. What are we, 3
- 7:46weeks into the program now?
- 7:47>> or so.
- 7:48>> And the first 2 weeks you were pretty
- 7:50dialed like not going out all that much.
- 7:52>> Yep. Yep.
- 7:53>> You lost like what, 1 and 1/2 lbs a
- 7:54week?
- 7:55>> 1 and 1/2 lbs a week.
- 7:56>> And then our last check-in, he gained
- 7:580.4 lbs. I was like,
- 8:01"Dude, what happened?"
- 8:02>> One weekend. One weekend out. One
- 8:04weekend out.
- 8:05>> out and it's really not like like if you
- 8:06go out, like I'm not saying you can't
- 8:08have fun, you can't go out, whatever.
- 8:11You definitely can. It's all about
- 8:12balance and whatever. Like one or two or
- 8:14three check-ins where you gain a little
- 8:16little bit of weight and you don't lose
- 8:16weight. Like progress isn't always
- 8:18linear.
- 8:19But you could realize like, "Okay, I did
- 8:22not lose weight because of this." And it
- 8:24was beers have a lot of calories. So you
- 8:26have a decent amount of beers, it's like
- 8:28it's like eating two extra meals in the
- 8:30day, basically. Or more.
- 8:33>> what I've realized I think since
- 8:34starting your program is how reckless
- 8:38you can be without knowing. Like
- 8:40>> Yeah.
- 8:40>> If you if you're not tracking your
- 8:42calories approximately, you have no
- 8:45idea. Like I think I was blowing it
- 8:47completely on a normal, you know, basis.
- 8:51Just like a couple drinks adds up way
- 8:53more than you think.
- 8:54>> You're like, "Oh, no, I've only had this
- 8:55today." And then you're like
- 8:56>> one weekend out, but it's like Yeah,
- 8:59what are you
- 9:00drinking on that weekend, you know?
- 9:01>> Yeah.
- 9:02>> So.
- 9:02>> And people forget to count the little
- 9:04things. Like, "Okay, I'm having the
- 9:05eggs, but now I'm putting a bunch of
- 9:06ketchup on my eggs." That ketchup
- 9:08counts.
- 9:09>> The butter.
- 9:10>> You know, the butter, the the creamer in
- 9:12your coffee. Like, "Oh, I had one, but I
- 9:14added creamer and I had it honey."
- 9:16You know, all these calories
- 9:19count.
- 9:20Like you can't just
- 9:22you know, count some things and not
- 9:23count the other. So, you got to be
- 9:24pretty strategic. And then like when you
- 9:26do a weekly check-in, like I have all my
- 9:28clients step on the scale first thing in
- 9:29the morning on Monday. So it's the same
- 9:32time every week. We do a photo front,
- 9:35side, back, And you can see when people
- 9:38are staying dialed in, they're making,
- 9:41you know, solid
- 9:42you know, progress over time. I
- 9:44burned these eggs. But, as you can see,
- 9:46the the breakfasts, they look very
- 9:47similar, but they're actually I'm almost
- 9:49double in calories. Like, just because
- 9:52I'm indulging in peanut butter, ketchup,
- 9:55the extra piece of sourdough, like, I'm
- 9:57at like 1,000 to 1,100 calories, and
- 10:00he's at like five
- 10:01>> 510-ish.
- 10:02>> 510. And like 40 g of protein, I got
- 10:05like 1,060
- 10:0661 g of protein, something like that.
- 10:09So, just to show you guys the
- 10:10difference, this is like a cut meal.
- 10:12This is like a maintenance bulk-ish
- 10:14meal, but they look very very similar.
- 10:17Um so, yeah, we're going to feast,
- 10:19chill, digest a little bit, and then
- 10:20we're going to hit a pull workout. All
- 10:23right, first workout, deadlifts.
- 10:26Always on the first workout, get a few
- 10:30warm-up sets. I call them feel sets,
- 10:32warm-up sets,
- 10:33um before you get in like your working
- 10:35sets. So, today, with deadlifts,
- 10:38we are doing
- 10:42two sets of 12 for warm-up,
- 10:44and then three sets of eight for our
- 10:47working set. And
- 10:53he's a client of mine, but he hasn't
- 10:54done the notes trick yet.
- 10:58>> The notes trick, I've been using the
- 10:59history trick, it's not as good.
- 11:00>> It's not as good as the notes. There
- 11:02There is on the app, there's like you
- 11:03can go into the history and you see what
- 11:05weight you did last time, but you want
- 11:07to have all of your weights in one spot.
- 11:10I think I've showed you guys this
- 11:11before, but this is everything. Can Can
- 11:14you Can you see that?
- 11:16So, these are all my pull works
- 11:18workouts, all my leg workouts, and all
- 11:20my push workouts.
- 11:22So, for deadlift, the last time,
- 11:24I've been doing three by eight at 235.
- 11:27Still just kind of easing into going
- 11:28heavier there. Um and then sometimes
- 11:30I'll put like whatever it was. Was it
- 11:33like easy? If if I have easy there, the
- 11:35next time I'll try to go up, but we'll
- 11:37just feel it out. We'll do 235 again for
- 11:39the first set and maybe go up since I
- 11:40didn't write that down. We're going to
- 11:42have Joe start the app today
- 11:45or start the notes
- 11:47um thing for all these lifts.
- 11:49So, we're going to do two sets of 12
- 11:50here at 135, and then I'm going to go
- 11:52into 235, feel it out, and then possibly
- 11:55go up. And then he's going to
- 11:58figure out whatever the freaking weight
- 12:00he was at, and we're going to try to go
- 12:02up.
- 12:02So,
- 12:03let's do it.
- 12:05>> [music]
- 12:12[music]
- 12:19>> Second workout, [music] we are doing the
- 12:21single arm cable row.
- 12:24So, just kind of bracing on your front
- 12:27leg here, getting a really good far
- 12:29stretch, and then just think about
- 12:31driving with your elbow kind of into
- 12:33your back pocket, and really squeezing
- 12:36into your lap.
- 12:48>> [music]
- 12:52>> All right, third exercise,
- 12:54we're doing one of my favorites as well.
- 12:55That's one of my favorites, and then
- 12:57this is probably my number one favorite
- 12:59of all time, and I've talked about it
- 13:01probably too many times on this YouTube
- 13:02channel, but the chest supported
- 13:05dumbbell row. Just feel you get a really
- 13:07good squeeze. You want to make sure
- 13:09you're high enough on the bench that
- 13:11you're able to get a good stretch, like
- 13:13where your arms could go all the way
- 13:14down and not, you know, you're not
- 13:15limited in your in your motion. And then
- 13:17just get a good stretch. Let it Let your
- 13:19shoulders kind of roll forward, [music]
- 13:20and then
- 13:21drive with your elbows,
- 13:25and kind of lift
- 13:27your chest up. You got to get squeeze.
- 13:34And really squeeze
- 13:36right there. Yeah, nice. Good stretch,
- 13:39pull,
- 13:40pause, slowly let them down.
- 13:42>> [music]
- 13:47>> All right, we're moving into biceps.
- 13:49So, we're just hitting a standard
- 13:52curl here and then we're going to move
- 13:53into some rope curls. It's like three
- 13:55sets of eight.
- 13:58Squeezing all the way at the top.
- 14:02Slow and controlled on the way down.
- 14:10Think about flexing your bicep at the
- 14:11top. There you go. And then slow and
- 14:13controlled on the way down. Flex.
- 14:16Control it.
- 14:21We're speeding up the workout a little
- 14:22bit cuz it's taking forever
- 14:24to get it done. So, we're doing [music]
- 14:26hammer curls.
- 14:29Two sets of eight.
- 14:31Failure pull-ups.
- 14:33A crunch and a reverse crunch. 15 and
- 14:3515. And we're just going to do three
- 14:38rounds.
- 14:49>> [music]
- 14:54>> All right.
- 14:55Workout done.
- 14:57So, if you do need to
- 14:58make something happen a little faster in
- 15:00your workouts, you just turn and do
- 15:01super set.
- 15:03So, no rest. We end up not doing eight,
- 15:05we just end up doing failure, failure,
- 15:0715, 15.
- 15:08Um so, yeah, if you are short on time,
- 15:11you can always just turn up the
- 15:12intensity
- 15:13and just make things super set or sets
- 15:15or monster sets and just keep no no rest
- 15:17in between. But, workout is done with
- 15:20the boys.
- 15:20>> Thanks, Doug.
- 15:21>> Little bro lift.
- 15:23And uh
- 15:24yeah, next time you see Joe he's going
- 15:25to be diced.
- 15:27We're three check-ins in.
- 15:30In a few more months the boy is going to
- 15:32be
- 15:34He already looks good, don't get me
- 15:35wrong. You know, we're starting off with
- 15:37a good set of set of set of muscles, but
- 15:40we're toning up for the summer.
- 15:42Yeah, yeah. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Oh,
- 15:43yeah.
- 15:44>> [laughter]
- 15:45>> All right, that is it. Thank you guys
- 15:46for watching. I'll see you on the next
- 15:47one. All links down below help out if
