3. 0:03something with the crowd all of a sudden
4. 0:06I've heard this big blast and looked
5. 0:09over and smoke was coming up and people
6. 0:12were running and falling down and
7. 0:14nobody's bothered
8. 0:18the blast was also captured by a German
9. 0:21TV reporter who was interviewing
10. 0:23American swimmer Janet Evans what went
11. 0:25through your mind your face was so
12. 0:27bright horrified horror and panic filled
13. 0:31Centennial Park during the mass exodus
14. 0:33out and there were huge police force put
15. 0:39together just for the Olympics then
16. 0:41moved in to secure the area police tried
17. 0:46to restore order first responders moved
18. 0:49in and in the morning the extent of what
19. 0:51occurred could clearly be seen as
20. 0:53investigators tried to piece together
21. 0:55the puzzle Richard Jewell was one of the
22. 1:00security guards in the park that night
23. 1:01he found the backpack filled with three
24. 1:03pipe bombs and quickly helped evacuate
25. 1:05the area minutes before the explosion
26. 1:07but soon the hero became the prime
27. 1:09suspect and that's the story told in
28. 1:12director Clint Eastwood's movie or
29. 1:13Richard Jewell Richard was never
30. 1:19officially charged but in the media he
31. 1:22was guilty as sin and it's rushed for
32. 1:24the headline that the hero was the
33. 1:26bomber the media cared nothing for my
34. 1:30feelings as a human being
35. 1:36Kathy Bates portrays jewels mom Bobby
36. 1:39who to this very day is shaken by the
37. 1:41events of over 23 years ago I said I was
38. 1:44going to write a book about it and I was
39. 1:47gonna call it 88 days of hell because
40. 1:51that's exactly what we went through
41. 1:53Richard was later exonerated and a man
42. 1:56by the name of Eric Rudolph later
43. 1:57confessed to the bombing but by then the
44. 2:00damage was done to Richard's life he
45. 2:02died in 2007 of heart failure when I
46. 2:04spoke with Bobby his mother died and
47. 2:06Richard passed away at 44
48. 2:09and she felt that that what he went
49. 2:13through at the time really contributed
50. 2:15to his early death I've carried this in
51. 2:19my heart all these years and they really
52. 2:24need to know
