  27. 1:00guys we wanted to do a new segment on
  28. 1:02the show it's called explain that tweet
  29. 1:04where we bring you prolific twitter
  30. 1:06users to bring up their tweets and see
  31. 1:08if we can get an explanation from them
  32. 1:10you know twitter only allows a certain
  33. 1:11amount of characters we want the
  34. 1:13thoughts to their full extent today we
  35. 1:15have author of hate crime hoaxes and
  36. 1:17taboo wilfred riley he's also a
  37. 1:19presenter in many of our five minute
  38. 1:21videos one about what's wrong with the
  39. 1:221619 project that you can check out by
  40. 1:24going to
  41. 1:25prageru.com watch and five minute videos
  42. 1:28wilfred thank you for being on yeah glad
  43. 1:30to be here fantastic i'm gonna just
  44. 1:32throw them at you okay we're gonna just
  45. 1:34rapid fire these uh explain that tweet
  46. 1:37number one
  47. 1:38reading one real history book about say
  48. 1:41slavery or white versus native wars can
  49. 1:43make you pretty woke reading 20 and in
  50. 1:46quotes the aztecs might spare plum
  51. 1:47children from the initial sacrifice but
  52. 1:50ellipses it's likely to make you if
  53. 1:53anything pro-western but deeply
  54. 1:54depressed about humanity
  55. 1:56yeah i mean the same same effect occurs
  56. 1:58if you read you know the bible or any of
  57. 2:01most of the great human texts but yeah
  58. 2:03what i was saying there is i think that
  59. 2:05very often when i talk to people that i
  60. 2:07would consider woke they are people who
  61. 2:09are kind of backlashing from maybe that
  62. 2:12more jingoistic education you still
  63. 2:14sometimes get in heartland america i
  64. 2:16live in kentucky and they're saying
  65. 2:18things like did you know you know the
  66. 2:19whites killed the indians and like yes i
  67. 2:22do know that
  68. 2:23they were the winners of that war but i
  69. 2:25mean i think if you actually take a book
  70. 2:26like scalp dance or empire of the summer
  71. 2:29moon that looks at how the great native
  72. 2:31nations like the comanches the aztecs
  73. 2:34the mohawk iraq how they behaved the
  74. 2:36many battles they won against the whites
  75. 2:37you realize that
  76. 2:39a little knowledge is a dangerous thing
  77. 2:40like the reality is a lot more complex
  78. 2:43i'll end this with one sentence women
  79. 2:44didn't get to vote in the usa or really
  80. 2:46anywhere else till 1920. like all of our
  81. 2:48ancestors were savages every adult man
  82. 2:51was expected to be a warrior in almost
  83. 2:53every black asian
  84. 2:55native society until pretty recently so
  85. 2:57when you discover that white americans
  86. 2:59were very imperfect it's very easy to
  87. 3:01stop there but then you realize that
  88. 3:03everyone was very very imperfect um i
  89. 3:06mean you you started asking questions
  90. 3:07like where did all those slaves come
  91. 3:08from right and you realize that that's
  92. 3:10why things like personal spirituality
  93. 3:12and honor code so on are so important
  94. 3:14the wolf lives inside everyone it's not
  95. 3:16a characteristic of one group of people
  96. 3:17um yeah and i think it was something i
  97. 3:19used to be a former radical leftist for
  98. 3:21those of you who don't know i'm sure you
  99. 3:22guys all know this yeah and slavery was
  100. 3:25the thing that i like i leaned on the
  101. 3:26most you know look at this transgression
  102. 3:28and then come to find that no race has
  103. 3:30escaped the transgression of slavery for
  104. 3:31the most part uh why do you think the
  105. 3:33focus in america is just so strong on
  106. 3:35that particular point in history well
  107. 3:37i'm going to some of the steel man the
  108. 3:39other side's argument shout out to my
  109. 3:40guy angel eduardo from fair who insists
  110. 3:43on everyone doing this during debates on
  111. 3:45but i mean the the argument would be
  112. 3:46well because we live in america and the
  113. 3:49majority of atrocities in america were
  114. 3:50committed by whites and so forth of
  115. 3:52course the majority of people are white
  116. 3:54as well but i i also think that when you
  117. 3:56dig a little deeper you find that most
  118. 3:58people simply don't know that all human
  119. 4:00groups have behaved very equivalently
  120. 4:02throughout history and by the way this
  121. 4:04isn't a point of shame for members of
  122. 4:06quote-unquote minority groups i mean
  123. 4:07genghis khan and mansa musa and the
  124. 4:09leaders of the civilized asian and
  125. 4:11african and so on empires are quite on
  126. 4:12par with many europeans and for example
  127. 4:14eastern europe at the same time
  128. 4:16um but that included skillet brutality
  129. 4:18as well as skillet technology so i mean
  130. 4:21i i think that there's a you can argue
  131. 4:23we should focus a little bit more on
  132. 4:24america but i also think just just
  133. 4:25simply put in quantitative terms if you
  134. 4:27ask american high school kids
  135. 4:29you know was slavery unique to the usa
  136. 4:32you find that crazy percentages like a
  137. 4:34quarter and a half say yes
  138. 4:36so one answer is that a lot of people
  139. 4:38just don't know about
  140. 4:40a lot of this reality they've read the
  141. 4:41one book they haven't read the 20.
  142. 4:43and now i'm gonna because i mean
  143. 4:45obviously like we're we both lean right
  144. 4:47now there's another element that's not
  145. 4:48accidental here the extent to which the
  146. 4:51radical kind of fringe left has taken
  147. 4:54over a lot of american discourse if
  148. 4:55you're looking at media if you're
  149. 4:56looking at secondary academia higher
  150. 4:58education it's really pretty remarkable
  151. 5:00if you look at any study a university
  152. 5:02professor's last line i mean
  153. 5:04sociology for example is about 95
  154. 5:06percent left is 5 conservative so i
  155. 5:08think that's one reason there's so much
  156. 5:09more of a focus on
  157. 5:12the sins of europe it's not even just
  158. 5:13america than on the sins of anywhere
  159. 5:15else
  160. 5:16genghis khan killed two percent of the
  161. 5:18population of the world i mean this just
  162. 5:20went on constantly for years right but
  163. 5:22it no it is not focused on to the same
  164. 5:24extent yeah a fantastic
  165. 5:26it's just it's an amazing thing to sort
  166. 5:28of step outside of the scope of what you
  167. 5:30learn and the narrative and then sort of
  168. 5:32look out and see what other people uh
  169. 5:34don't see
  170. 5:35another one here explain this to me i
  171. 5:37can't believe this requires explanation
  172. 5:39the government of a state should not
  173. 5:41give needles and crack pipes to junkies
  174. 5:43so when i said the wolf lives inside
  175. 5:45everyone the reality is that there are
  176. 5:47probably very very few ultimate rights
  177. 5:50and wrongs i mean if you look at the
  178. 5:52true bases of moral systems when people
  179. 5:54are more primitive they're you know
  180. 5:56christians the ten commandments
  181. 5:58buddhists the eight-fold way and it's
  182. 6:00always stuff like don't be a cannibal
  183. 6:02don't kill your neighbors i mean sure
  184. 6:04there's some baseline morality but much
  185. 6:07beyond that i think you kind of do
  186. 6:09determine what your honor code is and
  187. 6:11how you live
  188. 6:12and i think that
  189. 6:15if you what am i saying here if you want
  190. 6:17me to obey the laws you have to at least
  191. 6:20pretend to take them seriously and you
  192. 6:22have to at least pretend to try to
  193. 6:23enforce them if you're not claiming
  194. 6:25these these reflect some kind of
  195. 6:26ultimate deeper rule so if your policy
  196. 6:29is drugs are bad and you're a country
  197. 6:31and i'd agree hard drugs are bad
  198. 6:33this isn't like playing during the
  199. 6:35weekends you're smoking crack like if
  200. 6:38that's the standard in almost every
  201. 6:39civilized country you shouldn't give
  202. 6:42junkies the crack pipes yep i mean this
  203. 6:44is people will make all these
  204. 6:45excuse-making arguments like well if
  205. 6:47we've got all the junkies in one
  206. 6:48facility we we can ensure that they
  207. 6:51smoke crack safely but there's that
  208. 6:54sort of brutal realism in the back of
  209. 6:55every adult's mind like if you've got
  210. 6:57all the junkies in one facility they
  211. 6:58have drugs you can arrest them and send
  212. 6:59them to rehab like there seems to be no
  213. 7:01situation where giving them crack pipes
  214. 7:03is the ideal solution one other thing as
  215. 7:05a black man i find it incredibly
  216. 7:07annoying that there's there's this
  217. 7:09constant pitch of we are the true we
  218. 7:12woke white so the people that really
  219. 7:13want to help the community right but
  220. 7:15it's always stuff like this it's not not
  221. 7:17always there's just some good job stuff
  222. 7:19and build back better sure but most of
  223. 7:21the time
  224. 7:22it strikes me that it's more stuff like
  225. 7:25this than like we're actually going to
  226. 7:27build a factory right in an
  227. 7:29african-american community for that
  228. 7:30matter a poor white neighborhood or
  229. 7:32we're going to move there like if you're
  230. 7:34a teacher live in your district it's
  231. 7:36never that it's always like we notice
  232. 7:38whites are smoking you know from some
  233. 7:39cleaner crack pipes
  234. 7:42your urban junkie might have to smoke
  235. 7:43from the car antenna so we're going to
  236. 7:45fix that that's not something that we
  237. 7:47need to fix right last thing but i mean
  238. 7:50like even the whole like powder crack
  239. 7:52cocaine disparity like people
  240. 7:55people say if you sell an ounce of crack
  241. 7:57you're what are you five times the
  242. 7:59sentence you get for selling an ounce of
  243. 8:00powder but i don't know if the people we
  244. 8:02really need to be focusing on in hood
  245. 8:03communities are the people moving ounces
  246. 8:05of crack that's the least sympathetic
  247. 8:08people imaginable like of all the racist
  248. 8:09disparities that exist by this one right
  249. 8:12right uh in honor of black lives matter
  250. 8:14let's give out clean crack pipes let's
  251. 8:16decriminalize shoplifting and i
  252. 8:19i don't know let's just allow people to
  253. 8:20do whatever they want because disparate
  254. 8:22impact well i think like i grew up in a
  255. 8:23big city and i was when i mentioned i
  256. 8:25was a radical like i was an organizer
  257. 8:26for occupy for a while this back like
  258. 8:282010. this is like real people fighting
  259. 8:30the police yeah yeah with the guy fox
  260. 8:32masks on like swords over their back and
  261. 8:35i it struck me that i'll censor this
  262. 8:38because family audience but that bleep
  263. 8:39didn't work yeah like you started seeing
  264. 8:41the stuff you see with blm 10 15 years
  265. 8:43later like people were giving us
  266. 8:44millions of dollars and people were
  267. 8:47taking it
  268. 8:48stealing is a loaded phrase that my
  269. 8:50lawyers advised me not to use but it's
  270. 8:51just like the i think you bank account
  271. 8:53for occupy chicago i think it's still
  272. 8:55frozen yeah you know so it's it's fun to
  273. 8:57hook up outdoors and scrap with the
  274. 8:59police but none of this seemed to be
  275. 9:00doing anything for in that case i guess
  276. 9:01student communities working class
  277. 9:03communities of all colors right and blm
  278. 9:05seems to have had the same effect on
  279. 9:07black communities which is to say not
  280. 9:08much but the point i was making is
  281. 9:10actually a slightly different one one of
  282. 9:12the things you noticed with occupy
  283. 9:14was that a lot of like woke college
  284. 9:16girls bluntly would come down to the
  285. 9:18radical zone to kind of play
  286. 9:20like there were all these fun people
  287. 9:21there and they had weapons you might
  288. 9:22hang out with them for a night then
  289. 9:24you'd leave some sort of this game and i
  290. 9:26noticed there's the same attitude toward
  291. 9:28the hood like you hear this incredibly
  292. 9:29patronizing stuff like well we know some
  293. 9:31of you have to work as sex workers but
  294. 9:33while you do you will be safe and your
  295. 9:35crack will be hard
  296. 9:36why don't you try to help people not
  297. 9:39work as prostitutes and smoke crack
  298. 9:41right i think would be a very good
  299. 9:43starting point why don't treat people as
  300. 9:46fellow human brothers i think is a good
  301. 9:48baseline idea yeah it's almost like oh
  302. 9:50we've accepted that this is the reality
  303. 9:52for people of color so why don't we yeah
  304. 9:54why not facilitate it for them amazing
  305. 9:57now actually what you just said there
  306. 9:58it's worth it's worth thinking about
  307. 9:59that in in detail obviously you can
  308. 10:01choose to be a sex worker i'm pretty pro
  309. 10:03sex i'm not going to discuss that in
  310. 10:04detail unlike the current government
  311. 10:06officials yeah the kinks
  312. 10:08keep that to yourself
  313. 10:09my favorite considerable entertaining
  314. 10:11decadence with someone you like indoors
  315. 10:13but anyway um
  316. 10:15but with all that aside like consider
  317. 10:17that sentence though like
  318. 10:19sure you can consensually choose to be a
  319. 10:20sex worker but at a broad systemic level
  320. 10:23people are saying we expect you to be
  321. 10:24crack smoking that's the absolute
  322. 10:27norm in the black community yeah we're
  323. 10:28gonna help you with that why yeah like
  324. 10:31you take your crack pipes back home
  325. 10:34and they're the ones who are going to
  326. 10:35end racism
  327. 10:37it's all these starting assumptions like
  328. 10:38the
  329. 10:39the starting assumption behind uh
  330. 10:42cutting academic standards of course is
  331. 10:44that blacks and by the way you'd have to
  332. 10:46say to even greater extent hispanics and
  333. 10:47natives and a lot of situations right
  334. 10:49but are just academically incapable and
  335. 10:52you you kind of it's just a political
  336. 10:53way of saying them people don't even
  337. 10:55speak the language you know like what
  338. 10:57you want to do is you know do a year of
  339. 10:59bilingual education then take students
  340. 11:01in poor hispanic areas and put them in
  341. 11:03classrooms everybody else and you know
  342. 11:04make them learn math make it intensive
  343. 11:06the goal is to get people to know things
  344. 11:09not to pretend that knowing things
  345. 11:11doesn't matter and admit people into
  346. 11:12your elite universities regardless of
  347. 11:14whether or not they know things
  348. 11:15oh it's just wild that that has to be
  349. 11:17verbalized
  350. 11:18it's amazing it is pretty crazy uh
  351. 11:20speaking of crazy uh here's your next
  352. 11:21tweet comparing the a reality of and b
  353. 11:24mainstream media coverage of the quote
  354. 11:26freedom convoy as versus the black lives
  355. 11:30matter protests and riots is a
  356. 11:31remarkably eye-opening experience even
  357. 11:33for me
  358. 11:35yeah and i mean i'm like i'm a
  359. 11:36right-leaning writer so i mean i
  360. 11:37expected there to be some bs from the
  361. 11:39media but i mean the coverage of the
  362. 11:41freedom convoy now i will say first of
  363. 11:43all i don't think like mass public
  364. 11:45demonstrations generally work all that
  365. 11:46well i think the thing that was so
  366. 11:48effective about the reverend king for
  367. 11:49example is that he would walk everybody
  368. 11:51across the bridge and you would see all
  369. 11:53these potential fighting men from like
  370. 11:55hbcu football teams not fighting right
  371. 11:57and he would make the point why can't we
  372. 11:58walk across this bridge on any day i
  373. 12:00mean people are doing things like
  374. 12:02sitting down at lunch counters with
  375. 12:03their girlfriends in a suit and quietly
  376. 12:05ordering a banana split so i mean i
  377. 12:07think that was what's so effective it's
  378. 12:08this sort of normal behavior contrasted
  379. 12:10with the the frenzy of the people
  380. 12:11responding to you right but in terms of
  381. 12:13like the the classic like left and right
  382. 12:16fight in the streets type of
  383. 12:17demonstration i'm not sure that
  384. 12:19accomplishes much of anything so the
  385. 12:21freedom convoy by about day three would
  386. 12:23have started to annoy me if i were
  387. 12:24living in otawa i mean it's like this
  388. 12:27the honking starts at 7am and stops at
  389. 12:298pm apparently but with that said the
  390. 12:32treatment of the truckers which are
  391. 12:34being described as like a radical
  392. 12:36disruptive force violence yeah
  393. 12:40the police are going and stealing their
  394. 12:42gasoline
  395. 12:43the prime minister of canada is in
  396. 12:44hiding he's lying about having coveted i
  397. 12:47mean at some point he may have but this
  398. 12:49has been going on for like a week plus i
  399. 12:50think could we could start to say like
  400. 12:52where's that negative test justin right
  401. 12:54you know all this stuff they're talking
  402. 12:56about um
  403. 12:57that has not been confirmed but we're
  404. 12:59they're talking about you know this is
  405. 13:01this is a hate crime people are
  406. 13:02threatening a hundred thousand dollar
  407. 13:04sanctions against anyone involved the
  408. 13:05treatment of that as versus the actual
  409. 13:08blm protest that ended up in many cases
  410. 13:11degenerating into riots is pretty
  411. 13:13remarkable i mean like the minneapolis
  412. 13:15protest just to give one example set an
  413. 13:17active police station on fire with the
  414. 13:19police in it right and the description
  415. 13:21of events like this was almost
  416. 13:23invariably fiery but mostly peaceful was
  417. 13:25what cnn led with sure i want to clarify
  418. 13:28this isn't mostly a riot contrast that
  419. 13:30with the the depiction of like the seat
  420. 13:32guy in his truck honking the horse right
  421. 13:34right they put the cardboard sign on the
  422. 13:35on the statue and all of a sudden that's
  423. 13:37vandalism and they've they've faced this
  424. 13:39statue that was the most ridiculous
  425. 13:42thing like there are there are a lot of
  426. 13:43guys on the left i argue with like
  427. 13:45matsukita that were very passionately
  428. 13:48saying like
  429. 13:50they defaced the statue of the unknown
  430. 13:52soldier and like the thing is i think
  431. 13:53they believe it like these guys are
  432. 13:54left-wing but patriotic enough but it
  433. 13:56was like bro did you ever turn on any
  434. 13:58right leading media during the blm riots
  435. 14:00like right they were cutting the heads
  436. 14:02off statues of frederick douglass and
  437. 14:04stuff like this they didn't even know
  438. 14:05who the people in the statues were but
  439. 14:07mostly peaceful yeah but like one of the
  440. 14:09statues that was defaced during the blm
  441. 14:11fighting was the statue of the 54th
  442. 14:14massachusetts which is an all-black
  443. 14:16regiment that helped conquer the south
  444. 14:18and when people were asked about it off
  445. 14:21the record the explanation seemed to be
  446. 14:22we didn't know those were black soldiers
  447. 14:24and
  448. 14:26there are a lot of questions that i have
  449. 14:28about that but anyway
  450. 14:31like
  451. 14:32contrasting that with like they put the
  452. 14:34canadian flag on the canadian soldier
  453. 14:36statue this is now the worst we've ever
  454. 14:38seen right horrifying without excusing
  455. 14:41any rioting on either side of course
  456. 14:42we're seeing the same thing with january
  457. 14:436 like people died during a riot and
  458. 14:46this is the most despicable the total
  459. 14:48death toll from the blm writing i think
  460. 14:50was 50. the federalist headed at 35 in
  461. 14:53august of 2020. so without exaggerating
  462. 14:56this i mean
  463. 14:57the the panic and level of anger is new
  464. 15:00let's say yep yep
  465. 15:02so this leads me to my next question for
  466. 15:04you this is actually a question that you
  467. 15:06post on twitter
  468. 15:07what's your favorite example of absurdly
  469. 15:10racist or on pc behavior by people who
  470. 15:12are currently annoyingly woke i think my
  471. 15:15my best answer for this is that most
  472. 15:16recent showtime special which i'm sure
  473. 15:18you've seen that video everything's
  474. 15:20going to be all white
  475. 15:22yeah
  476. 15:23go on sorry i feel like i've been doing
  477. 15:24it i
  478. 15:26that was just the most blatantly racist
  479. 15:27thing uh and so overtly it's like the
  480. 15:29the the uh what we've been trying to
  481. 15:31hide for so long we're now comfortable
  482. 15:33with saying out loud and to make an
  483. 15:35entire docu-series out of it and then
  484. 15:37post it so proudly and so confidently is
  485. 15:40it's just amazing so that's my answer
  486. 15:41well this is this is actually something
  487. 15:43if you look at kind of the ibrahim
  488. 15:44kennedy left like something they say
  489. 15:46very confidently is that the solution to
  490. 15:49discrimination in the past is
  491. 15:51discrimination now
  492. 15:53so if you see a gap that you think is
  493. 15:55due potentially like 50
  494. 15:57to what was often in the north implicit
  495. 15:59discrimination in the past the solution
  496. 16:01to that is open explicit discrimination
  497. 16:04today right so like i actually would
  498. 16:07agree that like there's there for
  499. 16:08example they're audit studies that find
  500. 16:10that there's maybe a seven percent level
  501. 16:12of discrimination against black names
  502. 16:13and hiring and again even there there's
  503. 16:15a response like the black names chosen
  504. 16:17are always things like shaniqua right by
  505. 16:19again sort of like good thinking white
  506. 16:21activists and they're always contrasted
  507. 16:23with names like tim yeah and you always
  508. 16:26have to wonder how like malcolm would do
  509. 16:28as versus like bubba right at any rate
  510. 16:31nonetheless there obviously is
  511. 16:33measurable racism but it's always this
  512. 16:35subtle stuff and it's being responded to
  513. 16:37with just like the most explicit
  514. 16:39offensive content imaginable so like
  515. 16:41yeah you're talking about the showtime
  516. 16:42special where people are saying things
  517. 16:44like yeah all white should still feel
  518. 16:45guilty about slavery or this content
  519. 16:48isn't for white people yeah it's called
  520. 16:49everything's gonna be all white that
  521. 16:51sounds right up there uh i think the
  522. 16:53crack pipe thing would be the probably
  523. 16:54the winner for me oh yeah it's hard to
  524. 16:56get past a strong argument but another
  525. 16:58tough one
  526. 17:00but i mean another one would have to be
  527. 17:02like justin trudeau i one of the things
  528. 17:04i said on twitter is that justin trudeau
  529. 17:05must be master of disguise from like the
  530. 17:07old a-team show or from kingsman
  531. 17:09because there's so many pictures of him
  532. 17:10in like full-on hindu traditional garb
  533. 17:13or like wearing like a war bonnet with
  534. 17:15like the two eagle feathers for when you
  535. 17:17killed your enemies like it's like he
  536. 17:19almost wanted to get it out of his
  537. 17:20system before he rose to power well but
  538. 17:22i mean like so the point is like the
  539. 17:24probably the most racist woke thing i've
  540. 17:26seen is him wearing black face like four
  541. 17:27times just for no reason
  542. 17:30like for situations when he didn't have
  543. 17:32to like there was an arabian night's
  544. 17:35party that trudeau went to where he
  545. 17:36painted his entire body black like his
  546. 17:38hands were black and so on and one of
  547. 17:41the things you notice if you look at the
  548. 17:42pictures is that there are a bunch of
  549. 17:43other people there
  550. 17:44but because arabs are caucasian no one
  551. 17:47else chose to paint themselves in
  552. 17:48blackface right people just were like
  553. 17:50dark makeup or nothing they were like a
  554. 17:52hijab so you know just of his own
  555. 17:54devices was like how to pay myself black
  556. 17:57because i want to yeah yeah this isn't
  557. 17:59the first time
  558. 18:01that to me has to be one of the most
  559. 18:04obviously racist
  560. 18:06and this is there the thing is it's
  561. 18:08entirely situational right like
  562. 18:11one of the things i i don't want to keep
  563. 18:13dragging in other random beats please do
  564. 18:15please do well like one of the things i
  565. 18:16said is like i get canceled culture i
  566. 18:18guess i should try to be a gentleman and
  567. 18:20i actually don't get cancelled culture
  568. 18:21at all actually so i'll admit that one
  569. 18:23but like i pointed out that if you look
  570. 18:25at some of the things you're supposed to
  571. 18:26be canceled for like there are lists of
  572. 18:28these in university speech codes but
  573. 18:30they're all like one of them is using
  574. 18:31racial insults ever one of them is
  575. 18:33telling any ethnic joke one of them is
  576. 18:35sex while drunk there were like a whole
  577. 18:37bunch of these things like while video
  578. 18:39gaming there's no playing sports there's
  579. 18:41no excuse for using slurs
  580. 18:42like
  581. 18:43can i curse on here
  582. 18:45go for it but like one was just
  583. 18:46for example and it was like the
  584. 18:48percentage of men that have done that i
  585. 18:50don't know about like the women's game
  586. 18:51or whatever but it's about 100. so who
  587. 18:54gets cancelled is very situational like
  588. 18:57it's joe rogan but it's not howard stern
  589. 18:59exactly and the the point is like the
  590. 19:01most racist thing i've seen from kind of
  591. 19:03the woke black would be justin trudeau
  592. 19:05repeatedly wearing blackface just for
  593. 19:06the hell of it but his cancellation risk
  594. 19:08is extremely low oh yeah because you
  595. 19:10they know he's going to continue to
  596. 19:11support the narrative going forward so
  597. 19:13there's no reason to call about his
  598. 19:14cancellation now uh you you brought up
  599. 19:16joe rogan which leads me to your next
  600. 19:18tweet here my version of what rogan said
  601. 19:20would be quote i may personally regret
  602. 19:23having said uh certain terms like the
  603. 19:25n-word in the context of quoting others
  604. 19:28but the people attacking me are totally
  605. 19:30disingenuous and dishonest and i have no
  606. 19:32plans to apologize to the internet
  607. 19:35continue watching or not end quote yeah
  608. 19:38i mean i i think that first of all i
  609. 19:40think it's extraordinarily obvious that
  610. 19:41joe rogan's not a racist i think it's i
  611. 19:43think it's extraordinarily obvious that
  612. 19:45most people in integrated kind of up
  613. 19:47middle class urban culture aren't racist
  614. 19:49like racist has to have an actual
  615. 19:51meaning like if you ask someone would
  616. 19:53you have sex with someone of a different
  617. 19:55race and then consider proposing to them
  618. 19:57for marriage and the person was like yes
  619. 19:59you're probably not a racist right are
  620. 20:01three or more of your closest ten
  621. 20:02friends say black if you're white or
  622. 20:04white if you're black anyone who says
  623. 20:06yes isn't a bigot in any traditional
  624. 20:08sense it's actually a very coherent
  625. 20:11response to your racist to say no all my
  626. 20:14friends are black sure i've never
  627. 20:15understood that that that's something
  628. 20:17we're supposed to mock it there's again
  629. 20:19that upper class working-class
  630. 20:20disconnect there but basically with the
  631. 20:22joe rogan thing like
  632. 20:24you know i disapprove of the use of most
  633. 20:26slurs just just ask if you were
  634. 20:27comfortable even one on the air blah
  635. 20:28blah blah but like
  636. 20:30none of these cancellations around the
  637. 20:31use of the n-word have involved people
  638. 20:35calling someone else a racial slur glad
  639. 20:38you said it and this is this is this is
  640. 20:39so important here because
  641. 20:42what we're doing is
  642. 20:44all of this is what i call cry bullying
  643. 20:46like it's just pretense like i think
  644. 20:49people might be genuinely offended if
  645. 20:51they personally were insulted in like a
  646. 20:53racial or sexual manner i think that
  647. 20:55would be understandable but what you're
  648. 20:57talking about is teachers like beloved
  649. 20:59old teachers being drummed out of school
  650. 21:00generally to make room for newer more
  651. 21:02fashionable teachers because they read
  652. 21:03huck fenn out loud and nobody's actually
  653. 21:06offended by that this stuff is being
  654. 21:08used in a series of power games between
  655. 21:10racial groups and political parties like
  656. 21:12the joe rogan thing what they have is
  657. 21:14over what like 14 years there's a clip
  658. 21:16of him saying the n word like 20 times
  659. 21:19strung together from him like
  660. 21:21interviewing randall kennedy and stuff
  661. 21:22like that like there's no there's no
  662. 21:24offensive use of this so on down the
  663. 21:26line so we're talking sympathetic magic
  664. 21:28here like the idea is that if you say
  665. 21:31a word that was once used to insult
  666. 21:33people to say here we don't use
  667. 21:35insulting terms you are canceled because
  668. 21:38you've used an insulting term it's just
  669. 21:40the stupidest thing in the world like
  670. 21:42the dumbest example of this was actually
  671. 21:44papa john
  672. 21:45from papa john's pizza i remember this
  673. 21:47controversy yeah and it's weird because
  674. 21:49now he's getting a lot of love in the
  675. 21:50black community because people know what
  676. 21:52happened
  677. 21:53like originally it was just like he said
  678. 21:55the n-word but the reality is like this
  679. 21:57blue-collar italian guy who employed a
  680. 21:59lot of african-americans was talking and
  681. 22:01he said you know when i was in starting
  682. 22:03off in this business and i'm like i'll
  683. 22:04keep saying the n-word is a joke but i'm
  684. 22:06not going to like say all of these as
  685. 22:07letters you know we used to say terms
  686. 22:09like or nick you know slurs for
  687. 22:12every i'm not gonna install 15 i think
  688. 22:14reviews you gotta balance it just to get
  689. 22:15all of them
  690. 22:17but anyway like but he was like slurs
  691. 22:19used to be used one of them was the n
  692. 22:20word we don't say those anymore and i
  693. 22:23don't tolerate that as a businessman you
  694. 22:25might correct like one or two words i
  695. 22:26just said but for that because he said
  696. 22:29like three of the terms he was cancelled
  697. 22:31that's the stupidest stuff in the world
  698. 22:33this is the diversity training where the
  699. 22:35overall boss is willing to come talk to
  700. 22:36you and he says we don't do this anymore
  701. 22:38and so he gets fired
  702. 22:40and you have to wonder like was was the
  703. 22:42next ceo like the former vp of diversity
  704. 22:45like there's never a situation where
  705. 22:47someone for sincere non-business reasons
  706. 22:49does this crap right and i i don't know
  707. 22:51if you've seen this video but it's a guy
  708. 22:52going down on venice beach and
  709. 22:54interviewing a bunch of people about joe
  710. 22:55rogan and his use of the n word and of
  711. 22:57course all the woke whites say
  712. 22:58absolutely cancel him how dare he use
  713. 23:00that word and then he goes up to all
  714. 23:01these black people and they're like i
  715. 23:02don't care i don't give a f that he said
  716. 23:04this and
  717. 23:05joe rogue is actually my n word it's
  718. 23:08amazing the juxtaposition between those
  719. 23:09two things yeah this this is actually
  720. 23:11something like i grew up in the hood
  721. 23:13basically i grew up in east aurora which
  722. 23:15is and by the way the hood is very
  723. 23:16multi-colored like i mean like 50 of
  724. 23:18people 49 people in welfare are white
  725. 23:20yeah so i mean like when there are
  726. 23:22exceptions like you can see if you're in
  727. 23:23the marxy projects that's mostly black
  728. 23:25but if you're in the projects in
  729. 23:26lexington it looks like united colors of
  730. 23:28binnington i mean it's bennett whatever
  731. 23:30i don't play soccer but like it's just
  732. 23:32so
  733. 23:34but i mean
  734. 23:35in that entire diverse like in my entire
  735. 23:38diverse upbringing watching people cheer
  736. 23:40for jordan and bird and so on i never i
  737. 23:43never saw people
  738. 23:44make some of these arguments i never saw
  739. 23:46people argue that the north in the usa
  740. 23:49in the 90s was extraordinarily racist i
  741. 23:51mean by this point colin powell was the
  742. 23:53secretary of state i think my high
  743. 23:54school had integrated in 1932 or
  744. 23:56something like that this isn't to say
  745. 23:57there were no restrictive covenants on
  746. 23:59one side or the other side your life was
  747. 24:00perfect but i mean like
  748. 24:02the extent to which when you get into
  749. 24:05upper middle class life and you hear the
  750. 24:07level of sensitivity that goes on it can
  751. 24:09be shocking is really remarkable and and
  752. 24:12this is the real point the extent to
  753. 24:13which this small cadre of people has
  754. 24:16again infiltrated discourse like we
  755. 24:17talked about in 95 to 5 and sociology
  756. 24:19and academia one of the largest fields
  757. 24:21it's pretty crazy so you have like with
  758. 24:24things like can men get pregnant if you
  759. 24:26if you get on google and you search can
  760. 24:27men get pregnant nothing about
  761. 24:29transgender no no softening languages
  762. 24:31can men get pregnant look at the first
  763. 24:32five hits
  764. 24:34the influence of this tiny fringe of
  765. 24:36people
  766. 24:37in tech in discourse in business now is
  767. 24:40is absolutely remarkable and that's
  768. 24:42what's happening to joe rogan the the
  769. 24:43thing is that getting back on track joe
  770. 24:45rogan has a hundred million dollars in
  771. 24:46the bank account from his last contract
  772. 24:48right rubble's offered him 100 million
  773. 24:50more if he wants to break that contract
  774. 24:51to take a certain element of a loss so i
  775. 24:53don't think he has anything to worry
  776. 24:54about no not at all
  777. 24:56you know many people do and you just
  778. 24:58perfectly segued into your last tweet
  779. 24:59here
  780. 25:00radical idea why don't we unify and
  781. 25:03utterly wipe out intellectually with
  782. 25:05humor the small fringe left that has
  783. 25:07infiltrated much of media and academia
  784. 25:10why don't we i think people are starting
  785. 25:12to like i mean just even walking through
  786. 25:14like the prager complex i mean it's a
  787. 25:15two-three story building and every one
  788. 25:17of the things that's notable is that
  789. 25:18everyone's just normal i mean i think
  790. 25:20the story like i i assume everyone can
  791. 25:22see all of us but like you're uh
  792. 25:23african-american well-known
  793. 25:25solidarity going on thank you thank you
  794. 25:27caucasian obviously irving hold it down
  795. 25:29for the white guys over here yeah i mean
  796. 25:30like
  797. 25:31from a city like you see they got the
  798. 25:33dial with the dreads on it over here
  799. 25:35just and like going through the building
  800. 25:37the i've noticed this in a lot of
  801. 25:39different environments i mean from the
  802. 25:40daily caller to black media that's a
  803. 25:42little heterodox like it just looks like
  804. 25:44you'd expect the daily beast to look
  805. 25:46right like i think the stereotype from
  806. 25:49anyone on the modern dominant sort of
  807. 25:51scent left would be that at least the
  808. 25:53right-wing examples i've just given if
  809. 25:54you walked in here it'd be a bunch of
  810. 25:56amish people and priests and you know
  811. 25:58women sitting around in their handmaid's
  812. 25:59tale
  813. 26:01you know that kind of thing um
  814. 26:04but i mean i i think in reality normal
  815. 26:05citizens are starting to backlash to
  816. 26:08this i mean their entire colleges the
  817. 26:09university of austin's currently being
  818. 26:11established right kind of forming up to
  819. 26:13get fight these nonsensical ideas um i
  820. 26:16mean just as a blatant plug i'm a member
  821. 26:18of a couple of the groups involved like
  822. 26:201776 unites is the black business and
  823. 26:23social science community or at least the
  824. 26:25right half of it or whatever percentage
  825. 26:27response to the 16 19 project and i
  826. 26:30think a lot of the comments from bob
  827. 26:31woodson and glenn lowry shelby steele
  828. 26:34coleman hughes a lot of people involved
  829. 26:35with that is a lot of this stuff kind of
  830. 26:36makes us look dumb like if people argue
  831. 26:39that the only cause of like any gap in
  832. 26:41performance is either racism or genes
  833. 26:43which you hear pretty often ah i mean
  834. 26:45a lot of things right
  835. 26:47like when i mentioned hispanics were
  836. 26:48struggling academically often to at
  837. 26:50least the same extent as blacks there's
  838. 26:51a factor there is speaking primarily
  839. 26:52spanish so the reality is that life is
  840. 26:56complicated and these sort of
  841. 26:57explanations are almost worthless so
  842. 26:591776 is one example of a group
  843. 27:00responding
  844. 27:02a fair the foundation against
  845. 27:04intolerance and racism which um beyond
  846. 27:07bartnig barry weiss again glenn lowery
  847. 27:09megan kelly a bunch of other people set
  848. 27:11up
  849. 27:11um is interesting and then it responds
  850. 27:13to both traditional allegations of
  851. 27:15racism we'd certainly get involved if a
  852. 27:17school was like segregating and abusing
  853. 27:18black kids 100 but we also respond to
  854. 27:21allegations of woke racism essentially
  855. 27:23like we would 100 respond if a school is
  856. 27:25segregating and abusing white kids sure
  857. 27:27or doing stuff like privilege walking
  858. 27:28where you have eight and nine-year-old
  859. 27:30kids announcing that they're bisexual or
  860. 27:32saying whether or not they're children
  861. 27:33of divorce so i mean i think you're
  862. 27:35starting to see these massive
  863. 27:36organizations as people get tired of
  864. 27:38this
  865. 27:39the reality is that everyone sort of
  866. 27:40knows the emperor has no clothes like i
  867. 27:43on twitter and like i obviously have
  868. 27:45kind of a center right audience but
  869. 27:46again very urban mostly people from
  870. 27:47chicago and louisville probably 50 50
  871. 27:50ethnically
  872. 27:51actually i don't know about that a lot
  873. 27:52of little key whites probably yeah there
  874. 27:54might be a few sprinkled in there no but
  875. 27:56i mean like but there's nothing wrong
  876. 27:57with that given the idea that your
  877. 27:59audience has to reflect your countrymen
  878. 28:00in some exact proportions
  879. 28:02bizarre yes it is like white guys i've
  880. 28:05played sports with will comment on some
  881. 28:07of the or was on teams at the high
  882. 28:09school comment on some of the things
  883. 28:10that i say and people will respond like
  884. 28:13what do you know about that neighborhood
  885. 28:15and they'll sort of say well i live
  886. 28:16there what do you know about it i mean
  887. 28:19anyway um
  888. 28:21but all the all the blither aside
  889. 28:23basically i think that
  890. 28:25people are
  891. 28:28starting to oh so the the focus here
  892. 28:30though
  893. 28:31diverse audience um i actually asked do
  894. 28:34you believe with no qualifiers that men
  895. 28:36can get pregnant just as a joke just
  896. 28:38seeing how the polling response is
  897. 28:39working it was like a twitter poll by a
  898. 28:40survey monkey and it was like 99 no one
  899. 28:43yes so i think nobody actually believes
  900. 28:46this stuff what you have is a problem
  901. 28:48where a lot of the upper middle class
  902. 28:50and a lot of public spaces in a city
  903. 28:52make it very uncomfortable to say you
  904. 28:54don't believe it but just like looking
  905. 28:56around the rooms here
  906. 28:58or looking around my social media and my
  907. 29:01group of friends the reality is that
  908. 29:03we're all kind of being bamboozled
  909. 29:05because no one thinks this stuff is true
  910. 29:07right like a lot of the people that are
  911. 29:08speaking out like glenn greenwald matt
  912. 29:10tybee barry weiss jimmy dore are
  913. 29:12actually sort of heterodox liberals that
  914. 29:14are like we want to wipe these people
  915. 29:15off the map so we can go back to
  916. 29:17fighting with the conservatives about
  917. 29:18birth control and so on right right
  918. 29:20taxes and abortion like real issues not
  919. 29:22just crap like how many sexes are there
  920. 29:25so i mean i think that there's almost a
  921. 29:27100 backlash to this you're gonna start
  922. 29:29seeing very soon oh amazing that's a
  923. 29:30very helpful message for the audience uh
  924. 29:32guys to take that in so it sounds maybe
  925. 29:34your short-term pessimist as far as that
  926. 29:36small french people but long-term
  927. 29:38optimist
  928. 29:39yeah i mean so
  929. 29:42both the left and the right in the past
  930. 29:43have made mistakes and it depends even
  931. 29:45on what you mean by left and right like
  932. 29:46i wouldn't want a king for example which
  933. 29:48is the ultimate extension or the actual
  934. 29:50handmaid's tale society or for that
  935. 29:52better modern saudi arabia um
  936. 29:54the indonesian army and again i want to
  937. 29:57be crude but the indonesian army
  938. 29:58civilized probably second world nation
  939. 30:00we spar with them on trade recently got
  940. 30:02rid of mandatory virginity for troops i
  941. 30:04imagine this is only enforceable for
  942. 30:05women but you know that's that's all
  943. 30:07that matters there's no such thing wow
  944. 30:09there are there are things on the right
  945. 30:11globally as someone who you grew up in
  946. 30:12the bosom of holy mother church that you
  947. 30:14probably would not want to implement but
  948. 30:17i mean
  949. 30:18i think that
  950. 30:21oh the question was short-term pessimism
  951. 30:22right yeah yeah yeah so
  952. 30:24i i tend to ramble so no that's totally
  953. 30:26fine
  954. 30:28basically the point of this ramble
  955. 30:29though is i think in recent history in
  956. 30:31the united states
  957. 30:33most of the social evils have come from
  958. 30:35the left and they've done an incredibly
  959. 30:37good cosmetic job of disguising this
  960. 30:39like i obviously support the black civil
  961. 30:41rights movement during the 1960s which
  962. 30:42is not an exclusively left-wing movement
  963. 30:44if you look at how republicans voted on
  964. 30:46the civil rights account but almost
  965. 30:48everything else from the
  966. 30:50discovery of hard drugs and their social
  967. 30:52popularization to the end of the sexual
  968. 30:55revolution to the later waves of
  969. 30:56feminism to like environmentalism with
  970. 30:59no nukes like all of this stuff was
  971. 31:01mostly just complete bs um the first
  972. 31:04round of police defunding and community
  973. 31:06policing we saw a crime increase about
  974. 31:09500 between 1963 and 1993. i grew up in
  975. 31:13early 90s chicago and it really was like
  976. 31:14that one movie kids like you'd get on
  977. 31:16the train with your skateboard and watch
  978. 31:18people walk on and start painting
  979. 31:19graffiti around the windows right so
  980. 31:20like all of that stuff i feel
  981. 31:23has been a result of certain specific
  982. 31:26modern leftist policies and that's not
  983. 31:28unintentional i mean if you read books
  984. 31:29like ron radasha's commies for example
  985. 31:31there really was a very concerted effort
  986. 31:34this is not a conspiracy theory that
  987. 31:35people have documented it in full
  988. 31:37to funnel the former 60s radicals the
  989. 31:39weathermen and so on into specifically
  990. 31:42academia the ngo sector places where
  991. 31:44they could continue quote unquote the
  992. 31:46revolution by different means and i
  993. 31:47think that's how we got this sort of
  994. 31:49maoist three percent that so
  995. 31:51dramatically influences society
  996. 31:54um but yeah i think long term
  997. 31:57that's something that can't continue i i
  998. 32:00don't think people are going to allow it
  999. 32:01and i think that one of the things that
1000. 32:04is making it less functional is just the
1001. 32:06availability of other platforms like sub
1002. 32:07stack local youtube so on like a lot of
1003. 32:10the people on youtube like gothic so
1004. 32:12we're talking about heterodox black
1005. 32:13women are just obviously like really
1006. 32:16high iq funny people that have a good
  1007. 32:18computer in their room and they've
1008. 32:20started talking about things but people
1009. 32:22are starting to ask why do the people in
1010. 32:24academia with the qualifications sound
1011. 32:26so much stupider than this person
1012. 32:28sitting on their skateboard in detroit
  1013. 32:30and it's a valid question and the answer
  1014. 32:32is because they are yeah and i don't
  1015. 32:33think that's a system that can endure
  1016. 32:35very long yeah i think you're absolutely
  1017. 32:37right i also don't think our audience
1018. 32:38has ever gotten so much information in
1019. 32:40such a short period of time you might be
1020. 32:41one of the top guests we've ever had on
  1021. 32:43the show
  1022. 32:45you you've killed it you've crushed it
  1023. 32:46for one not one
1024. 32:48time ever you just might be maybe we'll
1025. 32:51have the audience vote in a poll down
1026. 32:52below as you guys are watching this
  1027. 32:55uh that's fantastic i i you just might
  1028. 32:57win i have a strong feeling wilfred how
1029. 33:00can people support you other than
  1030. 33:01following you on twitter
1031. 33:04well i'm always tempted to joke and see
1032. 33:05if they could give me money the one time
1033. 33:07i actually said that people started
1034. 33:08giving me money and like i'm actually
1035. 33:09pretty financially stable so for ethical
1036. 33:11reasons it became kind of a pain in the
1037. 33:13ass i had to like give the money to
  1038. 33:14charities
  1039. 33:16so anyway so maybe don't
1040. 33:18but it's gonna go to charity yeah i mean
1041. 33:20so you can give me money if you want to
1042. 33:21but um the the way to follow me like i'm
  1043. 33:23actually extremely wired in i actually
1044. 33:26used to run a small social media company
  1045. 33:27but i'm wilfred riley it's w-i-l-f-r-e-d
  1046. 33:31w-r-e-i-l-l-y
1047. 33:32and if you just search that name you'll
  1048. 33:34find my twitter
1049. 33:36facebook me on the university website
1050. 33:38for ksu all that stuff great fantastic
1051. 33:40thank you guys so much for watching
1052. 33:42wilford thank you for being here
