1. 0:08the primary program um really is a
2. 0:11transformative experience and it's it's
3. 0:13you know it's not your traditional um
4. 0:15pencil to paper wrote learning we're
5. 0:18giving them knowledge it's different we
6. 0:20have students who engage students are
7. 0:22hands on they're thinking they're
8. 0:24creating you know they're given these
9. 0:26opportunities to take ownership of their
10. 0:28learning the primary program the beauty
11. 0:31of it it aligns really nicely with our
12. 0:33philosophy here at Carol Day School is
13. 0:35that we are very open-ended we're
14. 0:38student driven we want students to lead
15. 0:40their learning and the premier program
16. 0:43has really allowed that you know it's
17. 0:45allowed all these opportunities for the
18. 0:47students to take initiative and take
19. 0:49action for their learning yes we may
20. 0:51have a central idea yes we may have some
21. 0:53lines of inquiry for what they bring to
22. 0:55the table and how they go about
23. 0:57achieving it and the process that they
24. 0:59go through as they do their summatives
25. 1:02and their formative assessments it's
26. 1:04amazing to see how many different
27. 1:07outcomes they are and that they've
28. 1:09really taken Agency for what they're
29. 1:13doing that confidence to take ownership
30. 1:16of their learning to present to
31. 1:18communicate to collaborate to question
32. 1:21it really gives them the skill sets that
33. 1:24they need they approaches to learning
34. 1:26you know they become great researchers
35. 1:27great communicators their thinking
36. 1:29skills are Beyond The Four Walls of the
37. 1:32classroom um and you know as as being an
38. 1:35educator here at carolwood day school
39. 1:37for the last um 17 years I can
40. 1:40definitely attest to that it is a
41. 1:43definitely a different way of learning
42. 1:44it's a different philosophy but it's
43. 1:46what learning is meant to be um you know
44. 1:48people being able to collaborate and
45. 1:50connect and create ideas and just and
46. 1:52just grow together as a community of
47. 1:54learners
