- 0:00want to be able to do this or that or
- 0:04these, then you're at the right place
- 0:07because everything you saw there is done
- 0:09by mastering directional arrol. So, in
- 0:11this video, I'll explain everything
- 0:13regarding directional arrow. And look,
- 0:15guys, no matter if you're bronze up to
- 0:17SSL, this is something I wish somebody
- 0:19had told me a long time ago and you'll
- 0:21be able to benefit from this in the
- 0:23future. So, make sure to like and
- 0:25subscribe. Let's no further waste the
- 0:26time and let's get into it. Okay, but
- 0:28what is a directional aroll and how do I
- 0:30bind it? To simply answer this question,
- 0:33go to settings, then go to controls and
- 0:36click view change bindings. Once you get
- 0:38here, scroll a bit down. And then here
- 0:40you'll probably see arrow right and
- 0:42arrow left. So if someone mentions
- 0:44directional arrow, they mean this. It's
- 0:46either arrow right or arrow left.
- 0:49Nothing more, nothing less. Now it's up
- 0:51to you where you bind these. Bind it
- 0:52somewhere where it's most comfortable
- 0:54for you. Now once you have it bind it
- 0:56just see what each button does. Just
- 0:58jump and click one of these buttons. For
- 1:01me this is arrow right and this is arrow
- 1:03left. So when I jump and hold the button
- 1:06look what it does. It already spins for
- 1:08me. So this is arrow right and this is
- 1:11arrow left. Now if some of you are still
- 1:13like yeah Jack but you know I can do
- 1:15this with free arrow. Yeah, with free
- 1:17arrow you can pretty much do this. But
- 1:19can you do this or can you do that or
- 1:24can you do this? But there is more to
- 1:27it. Can you stall with free arrow? You
- 1:29know the flip reset mechanic this thing?
- 1:31No, you can't. You can't simply stall
- 1:34with free arrow. And there are many
- 1:35other disadvantages I haven't mentioned.
- 1:38So am I saying free arrow is bad? Not
- 1:40necessarily. I know some pros, even
- 1:42freestylers that still use free arrow,
- 1:44but they use it as a secondary arrow.
- 1:46That means they usually use it as a
- 1:49recovery arrow when they need to land on
- 1:51the ground or just do a few adjustments,
- 1:53you know, but they don't use it in their
- 1:55setups or their flip resets or air
- 1:57dribbles. So, I'm just saying this to
- 1:59make it clear why directional arrow is
- 2:01needed. But don't worry, this video is
- 2:02not about mocking you for using free
- 2:04arrow. I've been there, guys. [laughter]
- 2:07I used to use free arrow as well, so
- 2:09don't worry. I know how you feel. The
- 2:11great news is that today I'm going to
- 2:13show you how to effectively use
- 2:15directional arrow. So maybe in a week
- 2:17you can feel comfortable with it without
- 2:19any regrets. So we have bind and
- 2:21directional arrow. But what should we do
- 2:23now? You know, I just show you a few
- 2:25combinations you can do with the left
- 2:27stick while holding directional arrow.
- 2:29But I know this can get overwhelming and
- 2:30that's maybe the reason why you feel
- 2:32like you shouldn't learn directional
- 2:33arrow. But don't worry, I have a great
- 2:35news for you. All of these fancy spins
- 2:37you see are actually not needed for
- 2:39basic mechanics like air dribbling nor
- 2:41even flip resets. To give you a clear
- 2:43example right now, just watch my left
- 2:46stick when I do air dribbles.
- 2:49And now spin.
- 2:52I barely touch my left stick for such
- 2:54air dribble. And you know what's funny?
- 2:56People think they need all of these
- 2:58crazy tornado spins and weird cucks
- 3:00twists, whatever. But in reality, you
- 3:02don't. You need a basic car control with
- 3:05arrow. And now I will teach you that.
- 3:07[music] First thing first, pick your
- 3:08favorite arrow. For me, it's arrow
- 3:10right, but I still use arrow left. Now,
- 3:13if there are some of you saying, "Yeah,
- 3:14but I've heard arrow left is more
- 3:16consistent." Guys, this is a complete
- 3:19myth. Both arrows are exactly the same.
- 3:21It's about your preference. [music] It's
- 3:23just mirrored. That's it. So, if you're
- 3:25using arrow left, do the same as in this
- 3:28video, but just mirror everything
- 3:30because as an example, I'll be showing
- 3:32arrow right. [music] So, how do we
- 3:34control that? First thing I want you to
- 3:37do is jump and tilt your car back like
- 3:40this and then boost. Okay, start
- 3:42boosting. So, you kind of levitate like
- 3:44that at one place. Now, start holding
- 3:46aroll. In my case, it's arrow. Right?
- 3:50Now, your car kind of stays at one
- 3:52place. Okay? If you're perfectly
- 3:53vertical, your car should stay at one
- 3:55spot like [music] this. Now look what
- 3:57happens when I push my left stick to the
- 3:59right.
- 4:01It does a tornado spin and I'm also
- 4:03steering kind of like to the left. Now,
- 4:06okay, what if I push my left stick to
- 4:07the right?
- 4:10Oh, wait. This is called inverted
- 4:12tornado spin. And again, it behaves
- 4:15differently. Now, what if I push my left
- 4:16stick up? Oh, this is like a weird spin.
- 4:20This is called Coxer twist by the way.
- 4:22One of the spins that Coxer was using.
- 4:25Now, what happens if I put my left stick
- 4:27down at the same time? Oh, that's
- 4:30another CER twist. Just inverted
- 4:32version. There are four variations of
- 4:34directional arrow. Okay, you have
- 4:36tornado, you have inverted tornado, you
- 4:40have cuxer twist going kind of like
- 4:42upwards and cuxer twist that is twisting
- 4:45with the lower part of the car, let's
- 4:47say. Now, if you're asking, okay, so why
- 4:49are these important and should I use
- 4:51them in my shots? The answer is
- 4:54sometimes, but necessarily you don't
- 4:56need them that much. Okay, actually,
- 4:59most of the time, all you need is being
- 5:00able to do clean arrow like this without
- 5:03any heavy movements. But you do need to
- 5:06understand how to steer with the arrow
- 5:08since that's something you might need in
- 5:10your air dribbles, even flip reset
- 5:12shots. So, let me show you that. See,
- 5:13like for example, if you mess up the
- 5:15setup, now you need to kind of steer.
- 5:16Okay, a little bit to the right, to the
- 5:18left while spinning and maybe score top
- 5:21corner. These shots are unsavable,
- 5:23especially in platinum and diamonds. So,
- 5:25in the second step, I'll show you how to
- 5:27actually control the arrow so you
- 5:29understand how it behaves and you're
- 5:31able to practice it efficiently. Now,
- 5:33again, let's get into this vertical
- 5:35position. And now, I want you to focus
- 5:37at one thing, when the hood of the car
- 5:39is showing on the screen and when the
- 5:41wheels of the car are showing on the
- 5:43screen. So focus on that because it
- 5:45really depends in which timing you push
- 5:47your left stick to the right, left, up
- 5:49or down. So to show an example, if the
- 5:51hood of the car is showing on the screen
- 5:53and at that time I push my left stick to
- 5:55the left. So left, left, left. See, it
- 6:00goes to the left. If I push my left
- 6:01stick to the right when the hood of the
- 6:03car is showing on the screen, boom, it
- 6:07goes to the right and kind of like
- 6:09downwards like this. What happens if I
- 6:11do it when wheels are showing on the
- 6:13screen? Okay. So, I push my left stick
- 6:14to the left.
- 6:17Oh, wait. It's going to the right. If
- 6:19wheels are showing on the screen and I'm
- 6:21pushing my left stick to the right. Oh,
- 6:23it goes to the left. So, to simply put,
- 6:26it really matters when you actually push
- 6:28your left stick with the arrow at the
- 6:30same time. And don't worry, I know this
- 6:32seems very difficult or overwhelming,
- 6:34but if you experiment with this for like
- 6:361 hour in free play and get hang of it,
- 6:38everything will make so much more sense.
- 6:40Now you can do the same thing while
- 6:42pulling left stick up. Okay. So if the
- 6:44hood of this car is showing on the
- 6:46screen, let's see what happens. If I
- 6:47pull my left stick up, [music] it goes
- 6:49to the left but kind of downwards. If I
- 6:51push it down, it goes to the right. With
- 6:54wheels on the screen is exactly the
- 6:56opposite. You know what I mean? Now,
- 6:58what other tutorials won't really tell
- 6:59you is that you can do something in the
- 7:01middle of tornado spin and cuxer twist.
- 7:04Basically, you can push your left stick
- 7:06diagonally down or diagonally up. For
- 7:09example, I can push my left stick up up
- 7:11up to like 10:00 like this. The car kind
- 7:14of faces upwards. It doesn't go down,
- 7:16which is something you might need in
- 7:17your air dribbles. If I push it 2:00,
- 7:21it might go to the right. Again, it
- 7:23depends in which timing I'm pushing it
- 7:25up. You know, you can also hold it, but
- 7:27I highly recommend just tap it. So, what
- 7:29I'm trying to say is that you can get a
- 7:31movement that is a mix between tornado
- 7:33spin and a cuxer twist. For example, you
- 7:35can push it down to like 5:00, you know,
- 7:37and also it does this. That means you
- 7:39have actually many options how to steer.
- 7:41And you know, if you're if you're used
- 7:43to pushing your left stick down, for
- 7:44example, this is a great news because
- 7:46you can literally do it by pushing your
- 7:47left stick down. You don't need to push
- 7:49your left stick up as I showed you.
- 7:50There are just many versions and many
- 7:52possibilities. That's why I love using
- 7:54directional arrow. And yeah, since there
- 7:55are a lot of possibilities, it seems
- 7:57like it's too complicated. But as I
- 7:59said, if you understand this concept,
- 8:01it'll be way easier to practice it and
- 8:03use it in your shots. And once again,
- 8:05remember what I said in the beginning.
- 8:06You barely need these fancy spins. You
- 8:09just need to control your car and being
- 8:10able to do delicate movements on your
- 8:12left stick and be able to slightly
- 8:14steer. See, like if this setup is great
- 8:16and you're able to follow the ball,
- 8:18there shouldn't be a problem. I barely
- 8:20steer with the arrow. So, this is great
- 8:22news for you guys. Now, step three is to
- 8:25actually actively work on it and
- 8:26practice it. In the beginning, I would
- 8:28recommend ring maps, but once you get
- 8:30somehow consistent with arrow,
- 8:32definitely go into free play or training
- 8:34packs and practice your directional
- 8:36arrow in actual shots. So, I know you
- 8:39might have heard a lot of people talking
- 8:40about ring maps. Uh, they're great, but
- 8:43they can be also very limiting at the
- 8:45same time. So, yeah, you can try ring
- 8:47maps. Why not? Most of the times, you
- 8:49don't really need these turns, you know,
- 8:51when you're actually doing air dribbles
- 8:53or flip resets. I'm very confident to
- 8:55say you don't need to have such aerial
- 8:57control in order to get good at
- 8:59mechanics like flip resets or air
- 9:00dribbles. I made a completely free
- 9:02training pack that you can get in my
- 9:04Discord server and this one is focusing
- 9:06on air dribbling and aerial control. The
- 9:08first setup is very straightforward. You
- 9:10just fly up with arrow and try to hit
- 9:12the ball in the center. This gives you a
- 9:14better comprehension how to use aerial
- 9:16midshot. Now what I suggest doing is
- 9:18actually not holding the arrow through.
- 9:21Just arrow once, get under the ball, and
- 9:23then maybe do few spins at the end of
- 9:25the shot. But at first, try to get
- 9:27consistent with the mechanic, and then
- 9:30add these fancy spins. You know, you
- 9:32can't just jump from level one to level
- 9:34three. That's impossible, guys. You can
- 9:36also use this for flip presets or
- 9:38anything you'd like. I highly recommend
- 9:40using this training pack. Now to
- 9:42summarize everything, in order to become
- 9:44the best version of yourself with
- 9:46directional arrol, you genuinely need to
- 9:48spend some time in free play testing the
- 9:50timing and understanding it. The great
- 9:52news though is that you don't need all
- 9:54these fancy spins I'm doing right now.
- 9:56So try to have basic understanding.
- 9:58Maybe learn these delicate movements,
- 10:00you know, slightly to the right, go
- 10:02slightly to the left, but that's
- 10:03genuinely all you need. Yeah. Look like
- 10:05when I do a flip reset setup, do you see
- 10:07I'm doing all these fancy tornado spins?
- 10:10Not at all.
- 10:13Let me just score this. That was a nice
- 10:15outro shot, guys. I hope you enjoyed
- 10:17this one. Let me know in the comments
- 10:18what is your biggest struggle and if you
- 10:20enjoy these tutorial formats. And yeah,
- 10:22also let me know which tutorial would
- 10:24you like to see next time. All right,
- 10:25have a good one. Peace.
