2. 0:01I read recently from The Stylist Allison
3. 0:03Bornstein she said we don't need more
4. 0:06clothes we need more ideas and that
5. 0:09resonated with me so much I'm going to
6. 0:12link the article that it came from in
7. 0:14the description box cuz it's a really
8. 0:15really great article from Vogue recently
9. 0:17I've been feeling a little bit stale a
10. 0:19little bit dare I say it bored of my
11. 0:22everyday outfits and normally when this
12. 0:25happens I think the first thing that we
13. 0:27think of doing is buying a whole bunch
14. 0:29of new stuff and I'm not completely
15. 0:32against that if you're purchasing
16. 0:34strategically and you're not just
17. 0:35impulse buying but that's probably a
18. 0:37whole other video topic for another day
19. 0:39in this video I want to share one thing
20. 0:42that I've been doing that has helped me
21. 0:44fall in love with my outfits again and
22. 0:46sort of break out of this kind of style
23. 0:49rot that I've been going through no new
24. 0:51clothes needed if you're new around here

28. 0:59week the one style hack that I've been
29. 1:01really consciously trying to incorporate
30. 1:03into my outfits is to use what I already
31. 1:06have in my wardrobe to create contrast
32. 1:08and friction by mixing different genres
33. 1:11of clothing together one way that I
34. 1:13already do this is by mixing my
35. 1:15masculine and feminine pieces together
36. 1:17and I feel like I already do this one
37. 1:19quite naturally so you probably would
38. 1:21have seen it already in my videos so for
39. 1:23example I'll mix like a cute dainty shoe
40. 1:25with a more masculine Blazer or a more
41. 1:28feminine dress with with a more
42. 1:30structured handbag but I really wanted
43. 1:32to challenge myself and see how else I
44. 1:34can mix and match my pieces together so
45. 1:36another way I thought about doing this
46. 1:38is to not save my dressy Pieces Just for
47. 1:41dressy occasions and my first example of
48. 1:44this is with jewelry I'm sure we all
49. 1:46have those pieces that we save for like
50. 1:48weddings or special occasions but I
51. 1:50think that by incorporating these pieces
52. 1:52into our everyday outfits we can really
53. 1:54bring a simple outfit to life so you may
54. 1:57have noticed that I have on this
55. 1:58absolutely gorgeous pearl necklace on
56. 2:01it's from a Japanese brand called buo
57. 2:04and for transparency this isn't
58. 2:05sponsored but they did send this to me a
59. 2:08few months ago this piece is called The
60. 2:10Wave Pearl choker and I honestly think
61. 2:12it's one of the most unique Pearl
62. 2:14designs that I've ever seen it really is
63. 2:16such a beautiful necklace and they also
64. 2:19have earrings and a bracelet to match
65. 2:20with it if you're into the whole
66. 2:22matching set so I think that generally
67. 2:25when we think about pearls we think
68. 2:27about saving them for just special
69. 2:30occasions I mean I definitely do now I
70. 2:32don't know about you guys but I don't
71. 2:34have that many occasions where I get to
72. 2:36dress up my everyday life is just very
73. 2:39average and normal but one way I've been
74. 2:42wearing this necklace is to actually
75. 2:44wear them with my everyday outfit by
76. 2:46having this one piece this one really
77. 2:49special standout piece it really makes
78. 2:52you know a simple jeans and shirt so
79. 2:54much more interesting I definitely pair
80. 2:57back the rest of the outfit when I wear
81. 2:59something like this necklace in my own
82. 3:01personal style I don't like too many
83. 3:03things sort of competing against each
84. 3:04other so even now for example I'm
85. 3:07wearing this with just a shirt and jeans
86. 3:09and normally I would wear a belt with
87. 3:11these jeans but I actually decided to
88. 3:14take off the belt so it wasn't so many
89. 3:16sort of things and accessories going on
90. 3:19the pearl necklace just gives that extra
91. 3:21unexpected detail and it just makes the
92. 3:23whole outfit so much more interesting by
93. 3:26contrasting the pearls with such a
94. 3:27casual outfit it really gives that s of
95. 3:30extra visual element and from an
96. 3:32outsider's perspective looking at me I
97. 3:34think it gives the perception that I've
98. 3:37made a really deliberate decision to
99. 3:39pair this necklace with just a plain
100. 3:42outfit and it makes the whole outfit
101. 3:44seem more stylish I'll put a link to
102. 3:46this necklace in the description box and
103. 3:48also I'll link to their backstory
104. 3:50because they have a really interesting
105. 3:52story about Freshwater Pearl farming and
106. 3:55it's a whole kind of family history with
107. 3:57this company which I found really
108. 3:59interesting and it doesn't even have to
109. 4:00be a sort of loud statement piece like
110. 4:03this you could use your everyday
111. 4:05necklaces and maybe layer a few more to
112. 4:08create something a little bit Bolder or
113. 4:10just something a little bit different to
114. 4:11what you normally do but in using what
115. 4:13we already have in different ways we can
116. 4:16keep creating new looks without having
117. 4:18to purchase new things all the time so
118. 4:21another way that I've been doing this is
119. 4:23by using this silver bag which I think
120. 4:25I've only ever used for either weddings
121. 4:28or like during festive season season
122. 4:30when I'm going out all the time I've
123. 4:32been using this silver bag with the
124. 4:33cross body strap so that it feels a
125. 4:35little bit more everyday but it's still
126. 4:38looks quite dressy and quite special I
127. 4:41put my phone in here any cards that I
128. 4:43might need quick access to and maybe
129. 4:45like some keys it's not very big clearly
130. 4:48but if I'm going out during the day and
131. 4:51I want to carry other things with me
132. 4:53then I'll use a tote bag as well and
133. 4:55what I love is that jux to position
134. 4:57between the fancy bag Plus a tote bag on
135. 5:01an everyday outfit it creates that point
136. 5:03of tension within the outfit it also
137. 5:06means that I get more wear out of more
138. 5:08of the pieces in my wardrobe and I don't
139. 5:10know about you but that makes me very
140. 5:12happy another way that I've been doing
141. 5:14this within my own wardrobe is by mixing
142. 5:16my more tailored pieces with more sporty
143. 5:19items if you are a longtime viewer of my
144. 5:22channel you'll know that one of my
145. 5:23uniform items is a Blazer I love wearing
146. 5:26Blazers they make me feel confident and
147. 5:28stylish and if I could wear a blazer
148. 5:30every day I probably would but sometimes
149. 5:32I'll want to wear a blazer but the
150. 5:34occasion that I'm dressing for a Blazer
151. 5:37is too formal by bringing in more sporty
152. 5:40elements into my outfits such as a
153. 5:42baseball cap it not only dresses the
154. 5:45Blazer down but it also adds that
155. 5:47unexpected element typically a baseball
156. 5:49cap and a blazer aren't supposed to be
157. 5:51worn together but in doing so you've
158. 5:53made that deliberate decision to be
159. 5:55mismatched and so that makes you look
160. 5:58more stylish it's also are great for a
161. 6:00bad hair day or hair wash day I mean
162. 6:02turn that into something stylish why not
163. 6:05you can also do this with a hoodie or a
164. 6:06sweatshirt underneath a Blazer you've
165. 6:08got that sporty element with something
166. 6:10tailored creating a little bit of
167. 6:12tension I also think it looks really
168. 6:14effortless because you've got something
169. 6:17dressed up paired with something dressed
170. 6:20down and so those two things together I
171. 6:23think make that perfect marriage of
172. 6:26effortless style if you watched last

174. 6:29you'll know that I recently discovered a
175. 6:32super old biker jacket that I've had in
176. 6:34my wardrobe for like 8 or 9 years I've
177. 6:38been figuring out how I want to style it
178. 6:40now I think back then when I first got
179. 6:43it I probably would have worn it with
180. 6:45like skinny jeans and trainers or boots
181. 6:49and there's nothing wrong with styling
182. 6:50it that way that's just not my personal
183. 6:52style now I've obviously changed a lot
184. 6:55in the past 10 years as have we all when
185. 6:57we look at a leather jacket in this
186. 6:59biker style the words that we would
187. 7:01probably use to describe it could be
188. 7:04grungy or tough or casual and so to flip
189. 7:07it around the opposite words might be
190. 7:10polished or smart or elegant I think
191. 7:12that for me to style this bike in now I
192. 7:14would want to add in those opposite
193. 7:16elements and so I would maybe wear it
194. 7:18with something a bit more refined like a
195. 7:20tailored trouser or a more polished shoe
196. 7:24something that will create balance and
197. 7:25just suppose the toughness and
198. 7:28grunginess of the of the Blazer of the
199. 7:31biker I'm always thinking about Blazers
200. 7:33by styling this biker in this new way I
201. 7:36feel like I've got a whole new jacket
202. 7:38and I'm styling it in a way that feels
203. 7:41modern and contemporary so have a think
204. 7:43about what you've got in your own
205. 7:44wardrobe that you haven't worn in a
206. 7:45while are you able to style these in a
207. 7:48new way so that you can keep wearing
208. 7:50them now so I want to share one more
209. 7:53outfit that I wore recently and I just
210. 7:55ended up loving it and I basically want
211. 7:57to keep wearing different iterations of
212. 8:00this one outfit so with this outfit I
213. 8:02knew that I wanted to wear this studded
214. 8:04belt that I recently got from mikinos
215. 8:07and again I think that this belt
216. 8:09probably has the same descriptions as
217. 8:11the leather biker so like tough and
218. 8:13grungy and Casual the base of my outfit
219. 8:16was just jeans and a t-shirt which
220. 8:19matches the vibe of the Casual belt and
221. 8:22so because everything in this outfit is
222. 8:23very casual I wanted to add something a
223. 8:25bit more polished and so I decided to
224. 8:28wear my penny loafers with it and this
225. 8:30kind of just dresses up the whole outfit
226. 8:32a little bit more I then decided to add
227. 8:35in a leather jacket but this one is a
228. 8:37more minimal sort of 90 style leather
229. 8:39jacket to me this jacket is quite smart
230. 8:42but it still has that casual Edge to it
231. 8:45because it's leather so it matches both
232. 8:47the belt and the shoes it's both smart
233. 8:49and casual and then lastly I added my
234. 8:52leather basket bag from Dragon diffusion
235. 8:54partly because I just love this bag and
236. 8:56I just really wanted to use it but
237. 8:58partly also because it completely jop
238. 9:00poses both the belt and the shoes this
239. 9:02bag has more of an organic Vibe and
240. 9:05softness to it which doesn't match the
241. 9:08belt or the shoes at all but somehow I
242. 9:11just felt like it all worked really well
243. 9:13together and by mixing all these sort of
244. 9:15different genres together I thought that
245. 9:17I had created quite an interesting look
246. 9:19it's not all one thing but lots of
247. 9:22different things that creates a more
248. 9:24multi-dimensional outfit I just really
249. 9:26enjoyed wearing this outfit a lot it
250. 9:28made me feel really com ident and
251. 9:29stylish and it's definitely an outfit
252. 9:31that I'm going to sort of recreate
253. 9:33different versions of so these examples
254. 9:36have obviously been taken from my own
255. 9:38personal style and my own wardrobe and
256. 9:40depending on your personal style and
257. 9:42your wardrobe you can really sort of
258. 9:45create different versions of this
259. 9:47whether it's like something more street
260. 9:49wear with more luxury pieces or
261. 9:52something preppy with something girly or
262. 9:56I'm trying to think up the top of my
263. 9:57head something tailored with more
264. 9:59vintage items it really is endless and
265. 10:02you can really go in lots of different
266. 10:04directions with this and it circles back
267. 10:06to the concept that we don't need more
268. 10:09clothes we just need more ideas if this
