The Obscure Lore Of Happy Tree Friends — Transcript
Full transcript
- 0:00Happy Tree Friends is a nice,
- 0:01family-friendly show about cutesy
- 0:03woodland creatures that love and hug
- 0:05each other every episode. By love, I
- 0:07mean kill. And by hug, I mean
- 0:09eviscerate. Every episode, these lovable
- 0:11guys find creative ways to purposefully
- 0:13and more commonly accidentally kill each
- 0:15other, ripping their spines out, popping
- 0:17eyeballs, shaving them down at hyper
- 0:19speeds. This is a brutal show. It makes
- 0:21Saw look like Sesame Street. Despite
- 0:23being obliterated every episode, they're
- 0:26fine the next one. And the reason is a
- 0:28little more complex than the copout
- 0:29answer of cartoon logic. So I will solve
- 0:31that mystery along with going over a
- 0:33soldier bear with a PTSD ridden past,
- 0:35time travel, cursed relics to a pig that
- 0:38stalks the others waiting for the right
- 0:39move along with the incoherent life
- 0:41stories of all the characters across 150
- 0:44episodes. Happy Tree Friends is an
- 0:46internet show that began in 1999 and has
- 0:48since developed into five seasons along
- 0:50with an actual TV series, tons of extra
- 0:52little shorts and interactives, a
- 0:54spin-off, multiple video games, and
- 0:56surprisingly a comic series. Not much of
- 0:58one, but it exists. It was the kind of
- 1:00series your cousin would show you when
- 1:02you were a little too young and now you
- 1:04are scarred or a little demented. And
- 1:06let me tell you, I wasn't the victim. I
- 1:08was the cousin that showed this. There
- 1:10are roughly 20 main Happy Tree friends.
- 1:1295% are actually cute, lovable
- 1:15creatures. They don't intentionally kill
- 1:16anyone. Their haphazard antics just
- 1:19happen to do that. Cuddles, giggles,
- 1:21toothy, patunia, nutty, flaky, handy,
- 1:24lumpy, sniffles, flippy, pop, cub, mole,
- 1:27Russell, Disco Bear, Lifty and Shifty,
- 1:29Mime, Splendid, and Crow Marmet. There
- 1:31isn't really an overarching story
- 1:33throughout the episodes. All they really
- 1:35do is set off a chain reaction which
- 1:36kills everyone or the centric character
- 1:38in that episode accidentally beheads or
- 1:40slices up everyone in pursuit of
- 1:42whatever their goal is. Each episode is
- 1:44told as if they're a story from a little
- 1:46golden book. But the real story lies
- 1:48within the characters, not the plots.
- 1:50The Happy Tree Friends' age are a large
- 1:52point of contention. They are depicted
- 1:53as kids a lot of the time being in
- 1:55school, field trips, and so on. And in
- 1:57these scenarios, Lumpy serves as their
- 1:59teacher, mentor, camp counselor,
- 2:01whatever. But they're also shown to have
- 2:02jobs, own homes, can drive. Flippy
- 2:05served in the military. One of them is
- 2:06thousands of years old. So basically,
- 2:09age is irrelevant for these rodents.
- 2:11Also, hi guys, it's me, Mung. Not
- 2:13regular Mung, but one of the alternate
- 2:15Mungs in the Mverse, the one that
- 2:16happens to look like a Happy Tree
- 2:18Friend. I'm outside the Washington
- 2:19Monument. Nothing bad is going to happen
- 2:21to me. It's a sheer coincidence.
- 2:23Original Mung delegated this video to
- 2:25me. Anyway, I just wanted to introduce
- 2:26myself. Carry on.
- 2:32Oh, that was close. The first we ever
- 2:34see of the Tree Friends is Banjo Frenzy,
- 2:37where early iterations of Cuddles,
- 2:38Giggles, and Toothy sit on a log
- 2:40listening to their good friend Lumpy the
- 2:42dinosaur play the banjo. And then he
- 2:44beats them to death with it because they
- 2:46made fun of his string breaking. But the
- 2:47true first episode where they get their
- 2:49actual designs is when the same three
- 2:51are riding on a merrygoround and Lumpy,
- 2:53now a moose, spins them too fast,
- 2:56ripping them limb from limb and Cuddles
- 2:57flies into a randomly parked airplane.
- 2:59This episode is surprisingly far more
- 3:01important than you think, but I'll get
- 3:02to that later. Cuddles the bunny, the
- 3:04face of Happy Tree Friends, is actually
- 3:06pretty bland. He doesn't have many
- 3:08distinct traits or stories. He's just
- 3:10there to die. He seems to be friends
- 3:12with everyone, but is best friends with
- 3:13Toothy. And there seems to be some sort
- 3:15of de facto relationship with Giggles,
- 3:17the main female. However, that has been
- 3:19confirmed to not be official. In the
- 3:21Fallout Boy music video they star in,
- 3:23because of course that exists, Cuddles
- 3:25and Giggles go on a date and only end up
- 3:27kissing after both of them are staked
- 3:29through the head. One of the nonshow
- 3:31shorts he stars in is a tutorial
- 3:33teaching someone how to subscribe to a
- 3:34YouTube channel. And boy, that is an
- 3:36ancient layout. Hey everyone, uh you
- 3:38should do what Cuddles is doing and uh
- 3:40maybe subscribe. Giggles the chipmunk is
- 3:42a lot like Cuddles, just the female
- 3:44generic character. She is the only Happy
- 3:46Tree friend to have a parent shown
- 3:47besides Cub. Giggles's mother, appearing
- 3:50only once, is just a taller Giggles.
- 3:52After Giggles was already decapitated,
- 3:54her body was returned with a drawn acorn
- 3:56head. Allah Sid the sloth's eggs, and
- 3:58she didn't even notice her child's head
- 4:00was different, let alone dead. She is a
- 4:03terrible parent, a for some reason
- 4:05common occurrence in the Happy Tree
- 4:06Friends world. Giggles happens to be a
- 4:08bit of a trumpet. She has gone on dates
- 4:10with Cuddles, Russell, Mime, Flippy,
- 4:12Mole, even Crow, Marmet. The dude is a
- 4:15block of ice. Lumpy the moose is the
- 4:17character I would consider the main one.
- 4:20He's in essentially every episode. He's
- 4:22the only one that breaks the regular
- 4:23small character mold. Originally, he was
- 4:25a dino in the pilot episode, but I don't
- 4:28know how in universe his species
- 4:30changed. He's mostly used as the first
- 4:31domino. He usually jacks something up
- 4:33first, which cascades the deaths. He is
- 4:35incredibly inept, which is perfectly
- 4:37fitting for all the occupations he has.
- 4:39In a majority of the episodes, all the
- 4:40tree friends have some sort of
- 4:42occupation. They're usually a one and
- 4:43done. It doesn't really matter what job
- 4:45they're in because next episode they
- 4:47won't be in that position. But Lumpy is
- 4:49a little different. He has over 50 jobs
- 4:51and he reprises quite a few of them. How
- 4:53in the world this pea brain got these
- 4:54jobs, I don't know, especially because
- 4:57he's like four different kinds of
- 4:58doctors. The amount of schooling he
- 5:00would have had to endure. But because of
- 5:02his immense incompetence, he
- 5:04accidentally kills a lot in his jobs,
- 5:06giving him the highest kill count of
- 5:08over 300. One of his most common jobs is
- 5:10a doctor. I don't know which kind,
- 5:12though. He's been shown as a surgeon,
- 5:14one time, replacing Disco Bear's heart
- 5:15with a whales. He's been an eye doctor
- 5:17and a psychiatrist for Flippy. That is
- 5:19just about the worst thing possible for
- 5:21Flippy. That same episode, he's revealed
- 5:23to travel with chickens and lay an egg.
- 5:25I don't know why. But the bigger
- 5:27question is, why is there even a need
- 5:29for hospitals and doctors in their
- 5:31world? They're just going to regenerate
- 5:33their limbs and their life. What's the
- 5:35point in getting something fixed? He is
- 5:37shown to be the owner of a lumpy themed
- 5:39carnival. He's been a play director and
- 5:41after the auditorium is set ablaze, him
- 5:43and all of his actors make a circle
- 5:45around it and sing O Christmas Tree and
- 5:47then they explode. He's worked at
- 5:49multiple stores. One time having his own
- 5:51toy store where he found it profitable
- 5:53to sell his business partner Toothies
- 5:55limbs and organs. He operated a butcher
- 5:57shop and accidentally sold the meat of
- 5:59Lifty and Shifty. Similarly, his own
- 6:01blood glazed donuts one time and they
- 6:04got served to people. He's been a
- 6:05gravedigger. But again, why is there a
- 6:08cemetery if they are just fine the next
- 6:10episode? No one really dies. Like dead
- 6:14dies. He's a teacher for all of the
- 6:16other tree friends and doubles as a bus
- 6:17driver who ends up crashing them onto an
- 6:20island. That's not quite his fault,
- 6:21though. I'll get to that. And I guess he
- 6:23also triples as their camp counselor.
- 6:24That camp episode in specific was
- 6:26created to promote the game Dead Eyee
- 6:28Derby. I sure hope games are the only
- 6:30thing the Happy Tree Friends promote,
- 6:32not any certain nonfgeable tokens. He's
- 6:34a recycle garbage man guy, whatever
- 6:36they're called, but he ends up dumping
- 6:38it all into the river. That episode was
- 6:39pro- environmentalism, but
- 6:41anti-protester. At least it was
- 6:43portrayed that way. I don't know if that
- 6:44was the intention. He's a postman and
- 6:46opens tons of other people's mail, which
- 6:48is super elite. Actually, I was going to
- 6:50say how illegal that was, but I think
- 6:52that's the least illegal thing Lumpy has
- 6:54done. In this particular postman job,
- 6:56Lumpy looks up to what I assume to be
- 6:58his lineage of some master postmaster
- 7:00moose ancestor. He's also a vampire. His
- 7:03bat form is pretty cool. His antlers are
- 7:05the wings, and he's Santa. They really
- 7:07sort of just fill these roles with some
- 7:09people. I'm not going to list every job
- 7:10verbally, but you can read them here if
- 7:12you want. It's definitely not important
- 7:15that you do. There's not a reason for
- 7:16you to do that, but I mean, here you go
- 7:19if you want it. He lives in a shabby
- 7:21little trailer right next door to
- 7:22Flippy. They've become closer as
- 7:24neighbors. I I think they hang out at
- 7:26least. One time he decorates his trailer
- 7:28with so many Christmas lights, it blows
- 7:30everyone up and the moon it even gets
- 7:32bright for Mole, who is blind. He is
- 7:33also shown to wear clothes. That ones
- 7:35you can actually see because they are
- 7:37the exact same color as his skin. If I
- 7:39had a nickel for every blue character
- 7:40that wears clothes the exact same color
- 7:42as their skin that I've talked about in
- 7:44a video, I'd have two nickels. But it's
- 7:46weird that it happened ever. Period.
- 7:49Finally, he gets his hands on an alien
- 7:51seed that creates alien clones of him.
- 7:53When some part of their body is severed,
- 7:55the original main part of their body
- 7:56will regrow what it lost, and then the
- 7:58severed limb or whatever it was will
- 7:59regrow their whole body. And in a show
- 8:02about severing body parts, these clones
- 8:04multiply a lot. They're able to kill
- 8:07everyone. Probably not intentionally,
- 8:09but nothing can kill them. The most
- 8:11iconic Happy Tree friend. I think I'm
- 8:14pretty sure he's the most beloved.
- 8:15Flippy, the PTSD riddled soldier bear.
- 8:18Flippy is a really good person. He's so
- 8:20good he dreams of riding unicorns in his
- 8:22sleep. But because of his military
- 8:24service, the popping of a balloon or a
- 8:26woodpecker woodpeckering or some other
- 8:28sound triggers a PTSD episode where he
- 8:30becomes flippy, but it's like a a
- 8:33backwards P, which is a Q, but I don't
- 8:35know if it's supposed to be a Q or a
- 8:37backwards P. I typed it with a Q because
- 8:39that's how you have to. But I don't know
- 8:41if it's pronounced flick P or flquipy,
- 8:45but I'm just going to say flippy. He
- 8:47becomes ravenous and kills everyone
- 8:48around him, thinking they are enemy
- 8:50soldiers. Not a ton is known about his
- 8:52army days, just small little flashbacks
- 8:54here and there, except for one whole
- 8:55episode where he was on a special
- 8:56mission called Operation Tiger Bomb.
- 8:58Private Flippy was in the war,
- 9:01weaponized animal regiment, along with
- 9:02Sneaky the Chameleon and Mouse Kaboom,
- 9:05surprisingly a mouse. The mission was to
- 9:07kill the Tiger general. So, in their
- 9:08mission, Flippy messes up terribly and
- 9:10kills his own fellow soldiers. And the
- 9:12entire Tiger army is after him. Flippy
- 9:14hides inside of Sneaky's corpse and
- 9:16while surrounded, he flips out for the
- 9:18very first time, beginning the PTSD
- 9:20episodes. He demolishes the Tiger Army
- 9:22and the Tiger General. At some point,
- 9:24Flippy later evolves from a private to a
- 9:26sergeant, which is what he dons today.
- 9:28Henceforth, whenever something sets him
- 9:30off, he begins to kill and set army
- 9:32traps. I don't know what war this was,
- 9:34probably Vietnam because of his trap
- 9:36styles, but real human events don't
- 9:38really relate to the Happy Tree Friends
- 9:40world. During Halloween, Flippy decided
- 9:41to run his army truck through everyone.
- 9:43the toxic waste that was in the back of
- 9:45his truck because you know you just have
- 9:48that for some reason. It happened to
- 9:50mutate their bodies into zombies. And
- 9:52even in death, Flippy is still vicious.
- 9:54In the grand finale for the TV show,
- 9:56Flippy is going mad, of course, and
- 9:58begins envisioning flipped out Flippy
- 10:00and his normal self as two different
- 10:02people. He thinks crazy him is attacking
- 10:04and trying to kill him. This devolves
- 10:06into a massive fight between an army of
- 10:08good Flippies and an army of bad
- 10:10Flippies. He finally realizes that they
- 10:12aren't two different people, perhaps
- 10:14finally healing himself of the PTSD, but
- 10:17he's killed right away. This was also
- 10:19the episode Lumpy was his psychiatrist.
- 10:21Flippy would sometimes show up with
- 10:23blood on him, and not even a single eye
- 10:26was raised. I understand the
- 10:27confidentiality, but he's not exactly
- 10:29being too private because he's a
- 10:32sergeant now. That's why he's not being
- 10:34private.
- 10:35Clap. It was funny. Even in his crazy
- 10:39state, some army principles still apply,
- 10:40like no killing children. He gets up
- 10:42close to Cub on his tricycle, but only
- 10:44pushes him off instead of horrifically
- 10:46murdering him. He holds up the trike and
- 10:48gets zapped by lightning, which kills
- 10:49him, but his spirit was put into the
- 10:51tricycle, and that three- wheeled
- 10:52vehicle. Is that considered a vehicle?
- 10:54Whatever. It kills a ton of people.
- 10:56Still never cub though. Also, in that
- 10:57episode, Rudy the goat appears, and
- 10:59never again, so that's cool. He was a
- 11:02fan submission thing that won a contest,
- 11:03but you know, not really that important
- 11:05in the grand scheme of things. The mole
- 11:07is a mole. Wow, how unique. He is blind,
- 11:11but don't you worry, he does all the
- 11:13things seeing people can do, like drive.
- 11:15He drives a lot and he kills a lot.
- 11:17Sometimes he lives underground near the
- 11:19cemetery. I bet that feels kind of
- 11:21awkward. He's also mute. I mean, none of
- 11:23them talk, but he doesn't even mumble.
- 11:25Before Happy Tree Friends, he was
- 11:26somehow a skillful robber going up
- 11:28against the rat, who I think is also a
- 11:30robber. I'm not really sure. Kind of
- 11:32vague with it, but he kills him. pretty
- 11:34impressive for being blind. In this
- 11:35uniquely animated short, Mole gives a
- 11:37pig kid some balloons that probably
- 11:39later led to his death when he floats
- 11:41away. And whatever happens next is your
- 11:43guess. There's also an elephant he
- 11:45kills. Just fun little characters we
- 11:47never see again. He one time goes on a
- 11:48blind date with Giggles. I don't know if
- 11:50it was a true blind date or just a
- 11:52regular date. They don't elaborate if
- 11:54they've been dating or not. Either way,
- 11:56he doesn't take her anywhere. He ends up
- 11:58going on a date with Lumpy because he
- 12:00got the wrong house. And due to him
- 12:02driving, Lumpy dies. In preparation for
- 12:04this date, he shaved and he had tons of
- 12:06cuts on his face, but the toilet paper
- 12:09pieces were on the outside of his
- 12:12turtleneck. Mime is a deer and another
- 12:14mute character. I don't know if it's by
- 12:16choice. I would hope it is because he
- 12:18had to call the fire department for a
- 12:20fire. Duh, that was kind of redundant.
- 12:22And instead of saying anything, he
- 12:24played charades over the phone, which in
- 12:26case you didn't know, you can't do that.
- 12:27He also tries to work an intercom at
- 12:29Russell's fast food restaurant, which in
- 12:31case you also didn't know, you can't do
- 12:33that. In Mime's house tent, there is an
- 12:35actual house room with walls in a tent,
- 12:38but I mean, am I really going to
- 12:39question that logic of all things?
- 12:41Inside, there is nothing. There is to
- 12:43him. There's invisible furniture,
- 12:45appliances, sinks, a safe, and
- 12:47everything else that's in a house. Maybe
- 12:48he lives on a different plane than us.
- 12:50Perhaps he can see 4D. Lifty and Shifty
- 12:53break in and steal the safe, acting like
- 12:55there is weight to it. So, I'm going to
- 12:56assume it does actually exist. I don't
- 12:58really know. When Mime is a lifeguard,
- 12:59Sniffles begins drowning out in the
- 13:01ocean, but instead he sees an invisible
- 13:03person and drags them to shore, but that
- 13:05invisible person dies. So, I'm thinking
- 13:08he does have some sort of like special
- 13:10vision. Oh, hello again. Wa! I sure am
- 13:14glad that arrow didn't hit me. I hit
- 13:15that guy off camera, but not me. Anyway,
- 13:18Sniffles is an anteater. He's also the
- 13:20inventor smart guy archetype inventing
- 13:21all kinds of stupid stuff like a shrink
- 13:23machine to kill a cold. A monster blob
- 13:25that eats the meat off their bones. All
- 13:27that kind of stuff. In that monster blob
- 13:29episode, there's a few background
- 13:30appearances from Trixie the ferret and
- 13:32really good Unicornius. Again, fan
- 13:34submissions, but their quick cameos in
- 13:36the back is like a flashbang. Sniffles
- 13:39has a dream machine that he hooks
- 13:40himself up to where you can see his
- 13:41dreams. Lumpy is able to change the
- 13:43channel, per se, and his dreams quickly
- 13:45become violent, giving some credibility
- 13:47to the cliche everything's a dream.
- 13:49theory. I don't think those are very
- 13:50fun, though. Sniffles always goes for
- 13:52the same family of ants to eat. I don't
- 13:54know why. Maybe he is a little sick and
- 13:56twisted. The ant family is notably
- 13:58missing a father figure, so perhaps he's
- 14:00just trying to wipe them clean. But
- 14:02usually, instead of being consumed, the
- 14:03ants torture sniffles, like actual
- 14:06demented things. They nail his tongue,
- 14:08saw off his tongue, nail him to a tree,
- 14:10rip his toenails off, turn him into a
- 14:12house. They have an ant rescue mission
- 14:14inside of him. They are able to control
- 14:16his mind once and this leads to a death
- 14:17that is regarded as one of the most
- 14:19gruesome. Either way, they always kill
- 14:20him instead of the other way around. One
- 14:22last thing with Sniffles, he makes a
- 14:24time machine. He creates it to unspill
- 14:26his milk. Pulling a rabids, he makes it
- 14:28from a washing machine. When he travels
- 14:30back, he crushes someone, but he doesn't
- 14:32notice. Lumpy then gets his help because
- 14:34Toothy gets hurt on the playground. He
- 14:35goes back in time to prevent the injury,
- 14:37but that actually causes some death, so
- 14:39Sniffle tries to fix that. Going back in
- 14:41time, causing more death with every fix.
- 14:43One of the fixes was a plane to rescue
- 14:45Cuddles, which he happens to park a
- 14:46little ways away. He goes way back in
- 14:48time to prehistoric days, and there is a
- 14:50cave sniffles with his friend, a cave
- 14:52ant. Sniffles eats a different cave ant
- 14:54and returns to the future, but cave
- 14:56sniffles sees him chomp on the insect,
- 14:57so he eats his friend, beginning the
- 14:59anteater versus ant rivalry. Eventually,
- 15:02Sniffles removed all playground
- 15:04equipment, leaving only the
- 15:05merrygoround. This now results in the
- 15:07very first episode where Lumpy kills
- 15:08them on the merry-goround. This was
- 15:10super cool, which makes this episode
- 15:12take place before the first season. Now
- 15:14with context, Cuddles flies off into a
- 15:16not so randomly parked airplane.
- 15:18Sniffles goes back home thinking they
- 15:20all ended up okay, but then suddenly a
- 15:22time machine teleports into the future,
- 15:23crushing Sniffles. He was the one
- 15:25crushed at the beginning. And out of the
- 15:27time machine comes Sniffles in Rushes
- 15:29Lumpy again to tell him they all just
- 15:30died on the merry-goround, creating
- 15:32somewhat of a loop. It's not like a full
- 15:35circle, but kind of. So, no matter how
- 15:38many times he goes back, they're going
- 15:39to continue dying. I I think that's what
- 15:42that means. I guess fate is a thing or
- 15:44it's a curse. Everyone is meant to die.
- 15:46I I don't know. But quickly ending the
- 15:48merry-goround saga as a construction
- 15:50worker, Lumpy tears it down. That's it.
- 15:53Splendid is a flying squirrel, but he
- 15:55can actually fly. He is just Superman.
- 15:58He has a weakness to crypto nut. Like
- 16:00all the characters, he tries his best,
- 16:01but ends up just killing everyone with
- 16:03his powers. Despite this, he's still
- 16:04seen as a celebrity. People want his
- 16:06autograph at Happy Tree Friends Comic-
- 16:08Con. By the end of the con, he has no
- 16:10fans left because he killed them all. He
- 16:11seemingly can't die from regular things
- 16:13the other ones can. Like, he
- 16:15accidentally dropped a massive amount of
- 16:16concrete on himself and Sniffles just to
- 16:19sign his autograph. It killed Sniffles,
- 16:21but Splendid was totally fine. The only
- 16:23time he died was exposure from
- 16:24Cryptonut. Another time, Splendid tries
- 16:26to stop a tornado. He happens to
- 16:28flatulate. I'm using civilized words for
- 16:31this civilized show. I don't want to say
- 16:33any four-letter f-words, but he happens
- 16:35to fart. There, I said it. It turns the
- 16:38whole world green because of the
- 16:39physical smog he releases, which kills
- 16:41everyone. The power he holds between
- 16:43those cheeks, it filled up the whole
- 16:45world. For being a superhero supposed to
- 16:48help people, he has an excellent KD. He
- 16:50has a confirmed kill count of 93 and
- 16:53only two deaths, but when you consider
- 16:54the whole Earth this one time, I think
- 16:56it's a little higher than a mere 93. How
- 16:59he got his powers is unknown. It could
- 17:01be how Superman got his when his parents
- 17:03were shot in the alley, but I don't
- 17:04know. That's just my own speculation. He
- 17:06leads a band of superheroes called
- 17:07Splendid Supremely Sensational,
- 17:09Stupendously Spectacular Super Squad.
- 17:11They show up to help Splendid after he
- 17:13was crushed into the ground after
- 17:14battling his enemy, Splend. They fight
- 17:16each other with whales and the moon, and
- 17:18Splendon wins, leaving Splendid to
- 17:21suffer. What a bummer ending. But I do
- 17:23think Splendid probably deserve that.
- 17:25So, back in modern day, there's a power
- 17:26Splendid shares with Superman, spinning
- 17:28around Earth the other way to reverse
- 17:30time. He did this because he saved a ton
- 17:32of people and then burnt his bread. So,
- 17:34we reverse time to cook the bread
- 17:35properly. But now, he refuses to save
- 17:37all the people again. This could be
- 17:39another explanation as to how everyone
- 17:40can die and then everything is reset
- 17:42before the carnage. However, Splendid
- 17:44has died twice, making this pretty much
- 17:47impossible. Also, even if he didn't die,
- 17:49I think he's just too lazy to reverse
- 17:50time constantly. Pop and Cub, father and
- 17:53son bears. If you thought Giggles's mom
- 17:55was atrocious, you ain't seen nothing
- 17:57yet. Pop lost his wife a while ago. Why
- 18:00she doesn't just regenerate like the
- 18:01others is beyond me. But now he's a solo
- 18:03dad raising Cub. He's got the typical
- 18:05Tom and Jerry dad attire. Robe, pipe,
- 18:07and whatever kind of goofy hat that is.
- 18:09His actions lead to his son's death one
- 18:11way or another, making it philicide. Cub
- 18:13also probably kills Pop. I'm not even
- 18:15sure. I didn't make that a point to
- 18:16remember that, but if he did, Patricide.
- 18:19Cub is just about the only truly
- 18:21innocent character. He's still got at
- 18:23least nine kills under his belt, but
- 18:25he's a baby. Just let it slide. Pop gets
- 18:28a dog named Whistle. And apparently
- 18:29everything in the Happy Tree Friends
- 18:30world is cursed to be a killer because
- 18:32he's the type of dog that gets a court
- 18:34order. You catch my drift. Don't worry,
- 18:36they call pest control to take care of
- 18:38him. Who's the worker? Oh, Lumpy.
- 18:41Well, they're screwed. Especially
- 18:43because they unleash like a hundred more
- 18:45vicious dogs using the Necronomicon. Pop
- 18:47accidentally gets cub possessed. Dang
- 18:49it. Don't you just hate that relatable
- 18:51experience when you make your son a
- 18:53demon vessel?
- 18:56Bomber. A separate time when Cub dies,
- 18:58he's turned into Cubron Z, a massive
- 19:00robot that reeks havoc in the city. And
- 19:02there's also this monster thing. I don't
- 19:04really know what's going on here. This
- 19:05was a special animation and it looks
- 19:06like a boomerang bumper. Every show has
- 19:08their addict. And here it's Nutty the
- 19:10squirrel. Sugar is his crack. He
- 19:12daydreams about marrying a box of
- 19:14chocolates, getting it pregnant, having
- 19:16box of chocolate children, her having an
- 19:18affair with Lumpy. As he walks out the
- 19:20door, he's licking chocolate off his
- 19:22face. Why am I acting like this is a kid
- 19:24show? Never mind. Anyway, Lumpy got in
- 19:27her Chocolate Box. Nutty plots on
- 19:28killing Lumpy. He goes to jail. He gets
- 19:30out, and then Nutty and Chocolate Box
- 19:32grow old together. Chocolate Box dies.
- 19:34He buries her. And all of this was in a
- 19:36daydream. Unsurprisingly, he ends up
- 19:38getting locked away in a rubber room and
- 19:40is rehabilitated, getting addicted to
- 19:41gaming instead, but he eventually
- 19:43relapses back on sugar. That exclusive
- 19:45short came only with a game called Happy
- 19:47Tree Friends: False Alarm. Crow Marma is
- 19:50an ancient Neanderl Marmet getting his
- 19:52name from the caveman human species
- 19:54Cro-Magn. Way back when in dinosaur
- 19:57days, he was just a regular rodent with
- 19:59a club who fed on dinosaur carcasses.
- 20:01Yummy. And was constantly killed by
- 20:02dinosaurs. In the DVD version of this
- 20:04short, it's introduced by this guy named
- 20:06Leather Balkan. Um,
- 20:11anyway, the fact that Chromar dies way
- 20:13back when basically throws out both
- 20:15theories of Sniffles time traveling or
- 20:17splendid reversing time. So, I mean,
- 20:20there goes any realistic answer. I
- 20:21highly doubt Sniffles was going back
- 20:23this far and even reversing it for his
- 20:25ancestors. He can go back to this era.
- 20:27We've seen it, but I doubt he was making
- 20:29sure they stayed alive. I think that
- 20:31would make Sniffles a bootstrap paradox
- 20:33if he did make sure they survived kind
- 20:35of. Why am I talking about like physics
- 20:36or something in a Happy Tree Friends
- 20:38video. I'm not Schrodinger, but watch
- 20:40this. I'm now both Shrodinger and not
- 20:43Shrodinger. Fast forward multiple
- 20:45millennia. He's a block of ice. Don't
- 20:47know how yet he can throw snowballs,
- 20:49drive a car, and pedal a unicycle. We
- 20:51don't actually see him do some of these
- 20:52things. They happen offcreen, but we see
- 20:54the result of them. Like the throne
- 20:55snowball in modern day, he was
- 20:57interviewed for his vast successes being
- 20:58in a critically acclaimed tour on
- 21:00Broadway, accomplished painter, writer,
- 21:02pianist, owning a brand of footpowder,
- 21:04named sexiest Happy Tree Friend in 1992,
- 21:07and in a vastly successful show, which
- 21:09does make it seem like Happy Tree
- 21:11Friends is a show and they're actors,
- 21:12but I hate that reasoning. We're not
- 21:14going to go with that. Also, the Happy
- 21:15Tree Friends have been going on dying
- 21:17since 1992 at least, or were they
- 21:20switching them out? You know, there's a
- 21:21whole lot there from that one line that
- 21:23could be explored in such depth. But
- 21:26wouldn't it be funny if I didn't try and
- 21:28think about that? Cool, because I
- 21:31didn't. But now he's an entrepreneur
- 21:33selling ice cream. Despite what you
- 21:34might think, he does have some kills on
- 21:36his hands or block. Also, if he is
- 21:39pushed down a hill and then crushes
- 21:41someone, is it his fault or the pushers?
- 21:43If he can stop himself, does it change
- 21:45the answer? If he can use his feet
- 21:46somehow, which is implied because he can
- 21:48drive and pedal, he might be able to
- 21:50stop himself. And you know, I don't
- 21:54really know. Oh, me again. Surely
- 21:56nothing bad is going to happen. The
- 21:58Washington Monument is looking awfully
- 22:00pokey back there. Good thing I'm
- 22:01situated all the way down here. Oh, hey,
- 22:03Nail. My vice president who hasn't
- 22:05appeared in a video in like 4 months. I
- 22:08probably have a lot of viewers that
- 22:09don't even know who you are.
- 22:10>> God has forsaken us.
- 22:18Okay, Toothy the Beaver. Toothie is best
- 22:21friends with Cuddles and he has to shave
- 22:23down his own teeth sometimes, but like
- 22:25that's it. He appears all the time, but
- 22:27it's a lot like Cuddles and Giggles. Not
- 22:29super unique. I like him though. I wish
- 22:31he was. Handy the Beaver. He's missing
- 22:33both of his hands. Completely unknown
- 22:35how that happened. But the even bigger
- 22:36question is, if everyone can get mangled
- 22:39and maimed, why doesn't Handy get his
- 22:41hands back? He doesn't start with them,
- 22:42but everyone is reincarnated or reversed
- 22:44or however. Why doesn't he get his mitts
- 22:47back? There's a whole episode how he
- 22:48falls in love with Patunia because both
- 22:50of her hands were cut off and they
- 22:51bonded over that. Next episode, she gets
- 22:53to leave him in the dust with both of
- 22:55her hands, but he still ain't got no
- 22:57hands. And again, another victim of this
- 22:59limb situation is Russell the Sea otter.
- 23:02He's a pirate missing both feet, a hand
- 23:04and an eye. I'm guessing him and Handy
- 23:06would have been like Flippy, so the
- 23:07creators had to nerf them. mentioned
- 23:09earlier, Russell owns a fast food place.
- 23:11I'm guessing it's the Happy Tree Friend
- 23:12universe off brandand of Long John
- 23:14Silvers, which means I would never ever
- 23:17go there. He also has a pet piranha that
- 23:19totally definitely definitely totally
- 23:22definitely never in a million years rips
- 23:24Russell's face off. He also gets a ship
- 23:25in a bottle stuck into his gut. He
- 23:27survived in a whale with lumpy ones. We
- 23:29get it. He's a pirate. He's a mariner.
- 23:32He's a seaman. Wait, disco bear. Uh the
- 23:35bear. His personality is disco. He's
- 23:38also a bear. He likes his hair. I don't
- 23:40know. Patunia the skunk. She has OCD and
- 23:42is a germaphobe. There's an episode that
- 23:44even YouTube deemed too far and removed
- 23:47it offline. And the fan base also deems
- 23:49the creator went too far. So apparently
- 23:51there is a roof to the brutality and it
- 23:54was hit. And yes, the episode is awful.
- 23:58Flaky the Pine Cone. She has anxiety and
- 24:00all she does is worry. One time Flippy
- 24:02is a hitchhiker and he's completely
- 24:04cool. Not flipping out or anything. and
- 24:06all he wants to do is help her. But in
- 24:08fear, Flaky decides to shove glass in
- 24:10his eye. And then he dies after Lumpy
- 24:11runs him over. I did not care for Flaky.
- 24:13Lifty and Shifty, two twin raccoon thief
- 24:16brothers. And that's all they do. They
- 24:18steal. From kryptonut to jewels, coins,
- 24:21and uh Oh, yeah. Submarines.
- 24:24>> Hey, it's me, Nail. I'm taking over now.
- 24:26>> No, you're not. What's that?
- 24:28>> Oh, nothing. I just mixed some pool
- 24:29chlorine with Coke and sealed it tightly
- 24:31in a bottle.
- 24:32>> Oh, you know, I don't think you probably
- 24:34should have done that.
- 24:36No, I'm fine.
- 24:40>> Lambie is a lamb and Mr. Pickles is
- 24:43probably a sentient pickle. They were
- 24:45not in the original cast, but have since
- 24:47been added after a fan vote between
- 24:48Lambie and another guy named Truffles.
- 24:50Mr. Pickles is the only character
- 24:52besides Flippy in this show that
- 24:54intentionally kills all the time. He
- 24:55tries to kill people and then Lammy
- 24:57tries to stop him, accidentally aiding
- 24:59in the kill. She, for some reason,
- 25:00brings him around everywhere even though
- 25:02he is framing her all the time. Also, he
- 25:04may not be real and she could just be
- 25:07imagining him, but I don't think so
- 25:08because a few kills then would be
- 25:10improbable. For one of his kills, she is
- 25:12arrested by cop lumpy and she's put in
- 25:14jail. But you're telling me there is a
- 25:17legal system in Happy Tree Friends this
- 25:19whole time? Why now? After all this
- 25:21death, even accidental, it still counts
- 25:23as illegal. Why has no one been
- 25:25prosecuted before? Truffles the boar.
- 25:27Don't recognize him? Of course you
- 25:28don't. Ever since he lost that vote
- 25:30against Lambie, he has been stalking all
- 25:32of the characters when they least expect
- 25:34it. He's hiding around a tree or a
- 25:36building. I think he's plotting. Or
- 25:38maybe he's lonely and envys Lambie for
- 25:39winning. Maybe he's trying to experience
- 25:41being a happy tree friend from afar. He
- 25:43is bold a few times being right out in
- 25:45the open. He's been killed a few times,
- 25:47once by vampire Lumpy. Somehow he was
- 25:49inside Patunia and was revealed when she
- 25:51died. And even crazier, well, maybe not
- 25:54as crazy as that one, he is seen hiding
- 25:56during the war in a Flippy flashback.
- 25:58Flippy is kneeling over a dead soldier
- 26:00and you just see this pig slightly pop
- 26:02out from the side. Has he been stalking
- 26:04them his whole life? Maybe he served
- 26:06with Flippy. Maybe he was the enemy. I'm
- 26:08thinking this story will go somewhere
- 26:09eventually. Maybe. It'd be cool. The
- 26:11Buddhist monkey. While technically he
- 26:13isn't a happy tree friend. He is from
- 26:15the spin-off Kapow. He only gets three
- 26:17episodes, but he makes use of them well.
- 26:19He trained in some martial art under his
- 26:21master dubbed by the fans Sensei
- 26:23Orangutan. He eventually died actually
- 26:25like corpse dead dead because logic
- 26:28might be different in Buddhist monkey
- 26:29world. I don't know. Monkeykey's nemesis
- 26:31is the dark shadow lord and uh um uh
- 26:36yeah, I don't know who he is. I don't
- 26:38know what he wants with Monkey or
- 26:40whatever, but he sends his apprentice
- 26:42Charui. He also has a bunch of generic
- 26:44ninjas for foot soldiers. Similar to a
- 26:46crosswalk, Monkey can plow right through
- 26:48them. A ninja goes back to the dark
- 26:50shadow lord with failure hung on his
- 26:51shoulders. So,
- 26:54[Music]
- 26:55the dark shadow lord kills him. He sends
- 26:57out Charui and then she dies, too. And
- 26:59that's Buddhist Monkeyy's story. I mean,
- 27:01there's like a panda character in like 2
- 27:04seconds of a scene. This desperately
- 27:06needs a revival. But now, the confusing
- 27:07part. In actual Happy Tree, Friends,
- 27:09clips of these episodes are seen in a
- 27:11movie theater, and another time,
- 27:12Buddhist Monkey is branded on an arcade
- 27:14machine. So, is Buddhist Monkey just a
- 27:16movie character? Is he their Batman? Is
- 27:17he just their fictional superhero or
- 27:19whatever? Finally, the Golden Idol.
- 27:21Ripped straight from Indiana Jones. This
- 27:23thing is cursed. I think everything in
- 27:25this world is cursed cuz like even the
- 27:26dogs are evil. Or potentially everything
- 27:28just has a high proclivity for violence.
- 27:30But this golden idol brings death almost
- 27:32instantaneously. It depends a little bit
- 27:34on the episode with how it works. But
- 27:35most often if you hold it, something or
- 27:37someone is about to kill you. One time
- 27:39sniffles and gang found it at top a
- 27:41ziggurat. And as soon as they remove it,
- 27:43it rains monkeys. Later on, it summons
- 27:45seemingly sentient earthquakes, even
- 27:47breaking the screen at the end of the
- 27:48episode. Oh, and of course it killed
- 27:50Sniffles and Gang along the way. When
- 27:52it's not the focus of an episode, it's
- 27:53still in the background of a lot of them
- 27:55signaling stuff is about to go real
- 27:57doodoo. I don't really think it matters
- 27:59that much because it's Happy Tree
- 28:00Friends stuff is going to go bad anyway.
- 28:02Lumpy drives over in the bus crashing
- 28:04onto an island. From there, they build a
- 28:05rocket ship and dissolve on the sun. I
- 28:07mean, that part may not have been the
- 28:09idol. One time, Chro Marma is shown
- 28:11selling four of them. Maybe they are
- 28:12just everywhere, but it hasn't been seen
- 28:14since season 3. So, seasons four and
- 28:16five still have violence and everything
- 28:18but are lacking the golden idol curse. I
- 28:21don't know. But I do think the idol
- 28:22makes a at least halfdecent for
- 28:25everything is just cursed. The only
- 28:27story left is all the weird random bits
- 28:29and bobs. I'm going to mention them
- 28:31because I'd be doing the fan base an
- 28:32injustice. There were many spin-offs.
- 28:34It's not really in what they are. I
- 28:36definitely wouldn't call them spin-offs,
- 28:37but just extra tiny series as serieses
- 28:41as as is. Cringles. From my
- 28:43understanding, they were Christmas
- 28:44themed e-greeting type of things.
- 28:46Breaks, very, very short clips that were
- 28:49released during a hiatus. There's a
- 28:51character called Fat Cat that appears in
- 28:52a few of them, but he's never seen
- 28:54beyond those. Smoochies, online
- 28:56interactives that showed one of the
- 28:58characters in a completely blank area,
- 28:59and they just died in certain ways
- 29:01depending on what you clicked. Some of
- 29:03them were holiday themed. Blurbs are the
- 29:05episodes with speech bubbles added. A
- 29:07few blurb episodes retroactively added
- 29:09truffles in the background. There was a
- 29:10short about lumpy knitting antler socks
- 29:12called Aspestus I can do. There wasn't
- 29:15any violence and I don't think anything
- 29:16to do with asbestous. I don't
- 29:18understand. There were a few other
- 29:19shorts like an oldtimey training video
- 29:21on skiing with an actual narrator. A
- 29:24Fallout Boy music video which I already
- 29:25mentioned. There was a miniature
- 29:27crossover with dick figures. It was an
- 29:29April Fool's joke teasing a new season
- 29:31in stick figure style. You can tell how
- 29:33dated this is because look at how this
- 29:35ends. Troll face. Boy oh boy. That was
- 29:38definitely 2012. There's lots of games.
- 29:40Most of them are flash games, but there
- 29:42are also quite a few on mobile. Really
- 29:44just your typical stuff with Happy Tree
- 29:45Friends slapped on it. Dead Eye Derby is
- 29:47a more prominent one. Xbox 360 and PC
- 29:49also had False Alarm, which I've already
- 29:51mentioned. There was a DLC just 2 years
- 29:53ago for a game called The Crackpat Show,
- 29:55which also got its own short to
- 29:57advertise. The most recent Happy Tree
- 29:58Friends Media is the crossover with Dumb
- 30:00Ways to Die, the hit internet song from
- 30:02like forever ago that apparently still
- 30:04has an active franchise. They don't
- 30:06really do that much. I was a little let
- 30:08down. I was hoping they'd kill each
- 30:09other, but eh, as it turns out, a while
- 30:11before this crossover, they redid the
- 30:13Dumb Ways to Die song with Happy Tree
- 30:15Friends characters. And finally, the
- 30:16comics. It's basically nothing. They're
- 30:18a page long. There's a couple of them.
- 30:20It's just like nothing. I should also
- 30:23mention there's a human skeleton
- 30:24underwater holding a treasure chest in
- 30:26one of the episodes. There doesn't seem
- 30:27to be any humans in their world. I don't
- 30:29know how that makes sense. Maybe it's
- 30:30Leather Balkan. And the chest holds his
- 30:32payment for introing that extra. Just
- 30:34thought that was worth noting. So, if
- 30:36the resurrection isn't Sniffles's time
- 30:38travel or Splendids reversing time, and
- 30:40it's probably not a dream with Sniffles
- 30:42Dream Machine, are they just constantly
- 30:43reborn like Kenny from South Park? Are
- 30:46they cursed? Is it all the idol? Do they
- 30:48remember their past lives? You know, I
- 30:50think they're just in hell. Anyway, I,
- 30:52the Mung that looks coincidentally
- 30:54really similar to Happy Tree Friend, am
- 30:56looking really forward to narrating more
- 30:57videos. I want to thank original Mung
- 30:59for allowing me to do this, and I'm
- 31:01really glad I made it out unharmed.
- 31:03Heat.
