- 0:49Hey, heat. Hey, heat.
- 0:52Look at that, man. What a beautiful
- 0:54machine. In this video, I'm going to
- 0:56show you exactly how I created that
- 0:58cinematic intro, test the biggest
- 1:00upgrades to the new X6, [music] and find
- 1:02out whether this is finally the one moto
- 1:04vlogging camera that can do it all.
- 1:06Although [music] Insta3 has sponsored
- 1:08this launch video, everything you're
- 1:10about to see is based on my real world
- 1:11use and impressions. M, it smells
- 1:15fantastic.
- 1:18Let's start with how I made that opening
- 1:20because the biggest advantage of a 360
- 1:22camera is that I didn't have to
- 1:23perfectly frame every shot while I was
- 1:25on the ride.
- 1:28So, every time I do this, my basic
- 1:30procedure is mount the camera wherever
- 1:32you can mount it. Try it out. Just make
- 1:35sure it doesn't fall off. For the
- 1:36mounting hardware, I use all the gear
- 1:38that's in the motorcycle bundle as well
- 1:41as the extra stabilizer bar for extra
- 1:44support. The less it wobbles, the better
- 1:46your footage is going to be. Then hit
- 1:47record and go for your ride. Because
- 1:49it's recording 360°, you're literally
- 1:52[music] capturing everything around the
- 1:54camera. So then you can go later in the
- 1:56studio apps and [music] reframe it and
- 1:58export it and then reframe another angle
- 2:01and export that. The purpose is to not
- 2:03overthink every mounted position, but to
- 2:05just enjoy your [music] ride. So now,
- 2:08because you've recorded everything in a
- 2:09360° bubble, now you can go and reframe
- 2:12in any format that you like. You may
- 2:14have [music] noticed those crop bars in
- 2:16the cinematic sequence, I'm not cropping
- 2:18over any footage. So now it's not like
- 2:20Odyssey where only a select few IMAX
- 2:22cinemas will play the full 70 mil
- 2:24projection. You're seeing everything in
- 2:26super high crispy 8K quality. And this
- 2:29is especially valuable when you're
- 2:31producing [music] content for YouTube
- 2:32and for Instagram, for shorts, where you
- 2:35need all these different kinds of
- 2:36[music] ratios. saves you having to
- 2:38refilm everything. It now shoots up to
- 2:398K 50 frames a second, [music] which is
- 2:41pretty wild. The higher the frame rate,
- 2:43the faster the video looks and the
- 2:45smoother and maybe even more detailed it
- 2:47looks as well. And not only that, it
- 2:49means that you can slow it down. Now, we
- 2:51can have slow-mo 8K quality out of a 360
- 2:54camera, which is pretty mad. For those
- 2:56POV shots, the X6 has 5K single lens
- 3:00ultra wide mode. You get up to 170°
- 3:02field of view and it shoots up to 5K 60
- 3:05frames a second which is perfect for
- 3:07moto vlogging. You get the lane angle
- 3:08and everything as well. You wouldn't
- 3:09even know that it's shot on a 360
- 3:11[music] camera. More on mounting and
- 3:13form factor later. We now have basic and
- 3:15pro settings. Basically, you don't need
- 3:17to be a pro to use [music] this camera,
- 3:19but it is suitable for pros as well. For
- 3:22the sake of this cinematic sequence, I
- 3:24did shoot in manual mode. I wanted
- 3:25control of everything to be able to do
- 3:27this and so that your footage looks good
- 3:28and not all blown out and overexposed.
- 3:31You want to be using ND filters, baby.
- 3:34Now ND filters don't magically produce
- 3:36motion blur. It's the slow shutter
- 3:38speed. But when we slow the shutter
- 3:39speed, which is basically the window to
- 3:41the sensor, it allows more light to hit
- 3:44the [music] sensor, creating an
- 3:45overexposed image. Because we're at a
- 3:47fixed aperture, the only way to correct
- 3:49the exposure is with ND or neutral
- 3:52density filters. Think of them as
- 3:54tinting that window to [music] the
- 3:55sensor where ND16 is the lightest tint
- 3:58and ND64 is the darkest tint. But for
- 4:01general riding, setting the shutter
- 4:02speed to auto or switching [music] it
- 4:04back to basic mode will give you a great
- 4:06sharp image just without the motion
- 4:08blur. [music] And to monitor exposures,
- 4:10dialing in settings and checking that we
- 4:12got the shot, I use the Insta3 app on my
- 4:14[music] phone. So that's pretty much how
- 4:16I shot that sequence. It wasn't rocket
- 4:18science. I didn't think about it too
- 4:20much. I just mounted it where I could on
- 4:22the bike and then just repeated it in
- 4:24different locations at different times
- 4:26of the day.
- 4:29So, let me know in the comments right
- 4:31now how you think the footage looks.
- 4:32When I hopped on the computer for the
- 4:35first time, chucked in the SD card, and
- 4:36had a look at what was coming out, I was
- 4:38pretty impressed, man. It looks pretty
- 4:40damn good. There's more depth. The
- 4:43colors look more rich. Looks more
- 4:45vibrant. It's a lot clearer. And there's
- 4:47a few reasons why it looks this way. We
- 4:49now have dual custom Sony one 1.1 in
- 4:53square sensors and a new 4 nanometer
- 4:56triple AI chip system which helps with
- 4:59everything. [music] Daylight detail, the
- 5:01dynamic range, shadow and highlight
- 5:03retention. Just keep an eye on the
- 5:05clouds and the shadows and see how much
- 5:07detail you can see in them both. That's
- 5:09your dynamic range. The low light
- 5:10clarity has improved a lot now that we
- 5:13got a larger sensor. More light can hit
- 5:15[music] it. That reduces the ISO, that
- 5:17grainy look. There's better noise
- 5:18reduction from the triple AI chip.
- 5:20There's [music] better color processing.
- 5:22And it retains a whole lot of detail
- 5:24after normal reframing. [music] And what
- 5:26we also have that just makes the footage
- 5:29look that much better finally is 10 bit
- 5:32color.
- 5:34>> So your standard 8 bit color displays
- 5:36[music] 16.7 million colors, which is a
- 5:39lot. But 10 bit color [music] displays
- 5:42over 1 billion colors. And this is so
- 5:44super noticeable in all the riding
- 5:46footage. All the colors just look so
- 5:48[music] rich and it's so much more
- 5:49enjoyable to grade. You can actually
- 5:51work with the colors and bring out some
- 5:53of those really nice tones. [music] You
- 5:54wouldn't think it's shot on a 360
- 5:56camera. And then of course we've got HDR
- 5:59and native in camera Dolby Vision, which
- 6:01is an industry standard [music] first
- 6:03for a 360 camera. It helps with contrast
- 6:05and colors and highlights and everything
- 6:07like that. [music] If you don't want to
- 6:08go crazy into grading your footage, I'd
- 6:11just leave it on Dolby. You've got also
- 6:13got standard as well for just real
- 6:14[music] real super basic coloring. The
- 6:16X6 also has had a big old upgrade to the
- 6:19microphones. It now has a 360° [music]
- 6:21windproof microphone system.
- 6:31And what it also has is a hidden
- 6:32internal microphone designed
- 6:35specifically for motorcycles. It's a
- 6:37mode called engine sound enhancement,
- 6:40and it works pretty well. It picks up
- 6:41sound vibrations through solid
- 6:43conduction. Basically, wherever you
- 6:45mount it on your bike, the vibrations
- 6:46will get picked up by the internal
- 6:48microphone.
- 7:02But just for the camera having
- 7:04microphones on it that you're not really
- 7:06in control of and that usually pick up a
- 7:08lot of wind, these guys are heading in
- 7:11the right direction to help us as
- 7:13motorcyclists get [music] the best audio
- 7:15quality as possible straight out of the
- 7:17camera. But of course, if you want the
- 7:18best audio quality, you need the mic
- 7:20pro.
- 7:24The mic Pros [music] do connect to the
- 7:26X6. Usually when you connect via
- 7:28Bluetooth, there is a loss in audio
- 7:30quality, but the X6 retains the 48 kHz,
- 7:33which is the industry standard for audio
- 7:35quality. Usually, you would need the
- 7:36micro receiver plugged into the camera
- 7:38to retain that audio quality. You don't
- 7:40need that anymore.
- 7:45And yes, [music] you can connect two
- 7:48micros to the X6 and set it in stereo
- 7:51and have your voice and your exhaust or
- 7:53whatever you want to do. You don't need
- 7:54the receiver at all. Testing, testing,
- 7:56testing, testing, testing, testing,
- 7:59>> testing, testing, testing.
- 8:00>> I've got one mic pro on my helmet and
- 8:02one mic pro next to the pipes. And now I
- 8:06have control over my voice and the
- 8:08pipes. So, I can turn the pipes down if
- 8:10I want. And I can turn my voice down and
- 8:12just have the pipes scream. Baby, let's
- 8:14go left. Ah, left's too dark. No, it's
- 8:18not.
- 8:21Daylight is the easy part, but the
- 8:23[music] larger sensors, they become much
- 8:25more interesting when the ride continues
- 8:27into sunset and darkness. For the night
- 8:30scene, I shot in pure video mode and let
- 8:32the camera do the rest. No manual
- 8:34settings needed. The larger sensors and
- 8:36triple AI processing [music] improve
- 8:37noise reduction, shadow detail, dark
- 8:40area clarity, headlight and street light
- 8:43control, and highlight [music]
- 8:44retention. And yes, it also works in
- 8:46single lens mode.
- 8:49Does [music] it work better on a
- 8:50motorcycle? The specifications are
- 8:52useful, but these are the smaller things
- 8:54that decide whether I will actually take
- 8:56the camera with me [music] and keep
- 8:57using it. The overall length has been
- 8:59reduced. Thank goodness. This means it's
- 9:02more comfortable if you want to throw it
- 9:04in your pocket. It fits inside riding
- 9:05luggage easier, which is [music]
- 9:07especially great if you travel a lot.
- 9:08The magnetic base works with the Insta3
- 9:10ecosystem, making it super easy to
- 9:12switch out. It's way less bulky on the
- 9:14helmet. The selfie stick doesn't wobble
- 9:16as much. And I found that overall it's
- 9:18just [music] more enjoyable to hold in
- 9:20your hand. It's so nice and chunky
- 9:22mlunky. I know it looks like it's in the
- 9:25way, but this is like your nose when
- 9:27you're looking past it. You can't see
- 9:28it. You're looking straight ahead.
- 9:30That's barely noticeable in my vision.
- 9:32It used to be up here, man. And it used
- 9:34to be so annoying. It has a new 2.32
- 9:36[music] in OLED display, which is
- 9:38designed to remain visible in direct
- 9:40sunlight. And it works with gloves with
- 9:43no dramas. You can press the whole
- 9:46screen and it will stop recording. So
- 9:48you don't have to try to find that
- 9:50little button or try to reach on the
- 9:52back here. You can literally press
- 9:55anywhere. I press over in this top left
- 9:57corner and it records.
- 10:01Love that. So handy. And it fires up so
- 10:05[music] quick, which is perfect for
- 10:06quick capture.
- 10:07>> Wo, that's quick. The replaceable lenses
- 10:10have had an upgrade with stronger
- 10:11scratchresistant lenses and are now much
- 10:14quicker and easier to replace. They also
- 10:16come in a little carry bag that you can
- 10:18easily bring along with you for roadside
- 10:20repair if you're risking it for the
- 10:22biscuit and want to get the shot. The
- 10:25camera is waterproof to 20 m without a
- 10:26case. Instaframe 2.0 O produces a ready
- 10:30to share framed video while preserving
- 10:32the full 360° file and it [music] now
- 10:35exports directly in 4K instead of 1080p.
- 10:38>> So this is perfect for when you vlog,
- 10:40you know, and it's just going to keep on
- 10:42tracking me, which is [music] awesome.
- 10:44Yeah. Fully just saves you having to
- 10:46refframe everything.
- 10:46>> It can also be used as a virtual gimbal.
- 10:49You can lock roll and tilt or just the
- 10:51roll or have it like FPV [music] styles
- 10:54so it moves around everywhere. It's very
- 10:56clever. And then of course from all that
- 10:57you can export it in different ratios as
- 10:59well. So you can have Insta frame do
- 11:01[music] 9x6, 16x9, square, 4x5 without
- 11:05having to touch a thing. You don't have
- 11:06to refframe anything. And then [music]
- 11:07it saves a 360 file as well. So then you
- 11:10can go in still and refframe everything.
- 11:12Wow, man. Come on. It's pretty good.
- 11:14[music]
- 11:14It saves so much hassle, man. We now
- 11:16have a higher capacity battery which
- 11:18allows us to film for over [music] 50%
- 11:20longer than the X5 and comes with this
- 11:22handy quick charge case that can also be
- 11:24used as a power bank. And for the first
- 11:27time, there's an internal storage on
- 11:29this 47 GB built-in internal memory,
- 11:31which is useful for if you forgot your
- 11:33memory card or it's full or it's faulty.
- 11:35Internal storage, man. So, after using
- 11:37the X6 as a cinematic 360 [music] camera
- 11:40and moto vlogging camera, is this
- 11:42actually the one camera that can do it
- 11:44all? Let's put it this way. If I forgot
- 11:47to pack [music] my Ace Pro 2 on a trip,
- 11:49I really wouldn't be that worried
- 11:50because the X6 [music] can cover pretty
- 11:52much everything I need from a compact
- 11:55action camera. It's so great to see how
- 11:57far these X series 360 cameras have
- 11:59[music] come. I've been around since the
- 12:01X2, and I love how Insta 360 have kept
- 12:05us motorcyclists [music]
- 12:06in mind when developing these new
- 12:08cameras. They know we use them, and they
- 12:10[music] want to cater to us as much as
- 12:12possible. and I think they're doing a
- 12:14terrific job. Now, if you guys would
- 12:16[music] like to add one to your kit,
- 12:17make sure you use my affiliate link in
- 12:19the description below where you'll
- 12:20receive the lens replacement kit for
- 12:21free with every X6 [music] purchase. I
- 12:24receive a small kickback at no extra
- 12:25cost to you, which helps support the
- 12:27channel. So, thank you very [music]
- 12:28much. And if you're new here, make sure
- 12:30you check out my playlist right here.
- 12:32It's full of tips, tricks, [music]
- 12:34tutorials, how to edit, how I edit, how
- 12:36I grade, all the things. And I'm going
- 12:38to keep on updating this as well, so
- 12:40save [music] it for later. Thanks so
- 12:41much for watching. I'll see you guys in
- 12:43the next one. Peace.
