The New Era of Faceless YouTube Is Here (PREPARE NOW) — Transcript
Full transcript
- 0:00Look, YouTube just quietly reset the
- 0:01game for faceless channels, and this is
- 0:03the biggest opportunity I've seen in
- 0:05years. Because for the first time ever,
- 0:08the playing field has been completely
- 0:10leveled. It doesn't matter if you
- 0:11started 5 years ago or you're starting
- 0:13today, because the channels that were
- 0:14winning with the old playbook now have
- 0:16to start over, too. It's a good and a
- 0:18bad thing, but I'll show you the three
- 0:20things that YouTube is moving away from,
- 0:22and four big opportunities That's not
- 0:24four. That are happening right now on
- 0:26YouTube, and the normies haven't noticed
- 0:29it yet. So, let's start with the biggest
- 0:31change of them all. In the US, people
- 0:34now watch more YouTube on their TVs than
- 0:37on their phones. Now, that comes
- 0:39straight from YouTube's own CEO, and for
- 0:42years, our faceless channels were built
- 0:44for phones, mainly phones. But when
- 0:47somebody's sitting on the couch watching
- 0:49YouTube on a big screen, they behave
- 0:51very differently. They're not scrolling.
- 0:53They actually can't even scroll. And on
- 0:55a big screen, low-quality videos,
- 0:58especially, stand out much more. A phone
- 1:00is smaller. It's more forgiving of bad
- 1:03video quality. But on a TV, it's really
- 1:05obvious because the screen is so big.
- 1:08Now, it's a pretty easy fix, but the
- 1:10second change matters a lot more because
- 1:12it's the strategy you'll see taught
- 1:14everywhere, and as kind of like the best
- 1:17way to grow a YouTube channel, and it's
- 1:19starting to stop working. And it's
- 1:21called the outlier strategy. Now, the
- 1:23idea is very simple. You look for a
- 1:25video in your niche that got way more
- 1:27views than normal. A great video. And
- 1:30that's the outlier. And then you try to
- 1:32take that video, and you copy, and you
- 1:33make your own version of it. Hoping that
- 1:36because this worked, your video will
- 1:38also go viral. And to be fair, that's a
- 1:40pretty good approach, and it's worked
- 1:42for a while. But then, thousands of
- 1:44channels started doing the same thing,
- 1:46often copying the original. And so, you
- 1:48would get all these copycats of clones
- 1:50that looked identical. And And now, a
- 1:52viewer can find like five, 10 different
- 1:55copies. And YouTube, well, they're
- 1:57paying attention to it. They're kind of,
- 1:59you know, annoyed, tired of it. Tired of
- 2:01the spam. And so what they're looking
- 2:02for now is more authentic content. Not
- 2:05just a, you know, recycling of the same
- 2:08model. So what should you do instead?
- 2:10And like what's the solution that we see
- 2:11working at the moment? The thing is we
- 2:13of course want to keep modeling what
- 2:15already works, but look outside of your
- 2:18niche instead of inside it. Let's say
- 2:20you run a history channel. Don't try to
- 2:23copy the other history channels because
- 2:25I guarantee [snorts] you 10 or even
- 2:2710,000 other history channels already
- 2:29did. Instead, look at what's blowing up
- 2:32in another niche. And there you can take
- 2:34that format that's proven to work and
- 2:37bring it over to yours. You're still
- 2:38learning and you're modeling what
- 2:40already works. You're just not making
- 2:41the same, you know, sixth copy of the
- 2:43same video all the time and it's a much
- 2:46better approach for the future. Much
- 2:47more future-proof. Now the third change
- 2:50on YouTube is a quite sneaky one and
- 2:53it's a time waster. It's called SEO,
- 2:55which is basically trying to get your
- 2:57video found in the search bar when
- 2:59people type it in and they're like, "Can
- 3:01I search for this video?" Using keywords
- 3:04that people are searching for and then
- 3:05you put them in your title, description,
- 3:07tags, whatever. But that barely matters
- 3:09anymore. YouTube's own resource, their
- 3:12own help page, says that tags play only
- 3:15a minimal role in how videos will
- 3:18actually get discovered. And that is
- 3:19because the YouTube algorithm is really,
- 3:21really smart nowadays. It can understand
- 3:24what's going on in your video, what's
- 3:26said, shown, whatever, and whether
- 3:28people actually stay and feel like they
- 3:30got what they came for. So if you stuff
- 3:31keywords everywhere, it's not really
- 3:33going to do anything. Now if all of this
- 3:35sounds like bad news, it's actually
- 3:37quite the opposite because every one of
- 3:39these changes opens up a new door and a
- 3:42couple of them give faceless channels
- 3:44that are new an advantage that I've
- 3:46never seen before. So let's talk about
- 3:48the best opportunities and the biggest
- 3:50opportunities for new and old faceless
- 3:53channels. And the first up is going to
- 3:54be the TV opportunity. So, think about
- 3:56what people actually watch on a
- 3:58television when they want to settle in.
- 4:00They watch a lot of documentaries, they
- 4:02watch, you know, shows, investigations,
- 4:04history, stories, whatever. None of that
- 4:07requires a face. And some of the best
- 4:09documentaries ever made are literally
- 4:11just a voice. That's basically a
- 4:13faceless channel. That's us. And so,
- 4:16longer videos for TV also have much
- 4:19higher RPMs because longer videos means
- 4:22that YouTube can place more ads in them
- 4:24and people watch longer on TVs than on
- 4:27mobile because it's a, you know, better
- 4:29experience. So, you actually earn more
- 4:31per viewer even if you were to get less
- 4:33views. But also, people watch longer in
- 4:37their sessions as a whole. They actually
- 4:39watch several videos in a row and they
- 4:41can keep getting views for years when
- 4:44you upload one of these faceless videos.
- 4:46And so, that is where the second
- 4:47opportunity comes in. Don't try to build
- 4:50like a random faceless channel. Build a
- 4:52faceless channel show. Now, most
- 4:54faceless channels cover a new random
- 4:56topic every single week with nothing
- 4:58that's tying the topics and videos
- 5:00together. So, even if somebody likes a
- 5:02video, there's really no reason for them
- 5:04to subscribe and for them to come back
- 5:06week after week. Now, a show works very
- 5:09differently. Let's say you're making the
- 5:10same type of documentary every single
- 5:12week. Instead of covering whatever's
- 5:15trending that week, you make a series.
- 5:17Now, somebody watches one episode
- 5:19already knows what it's going to feel
- 5:21like and they want to watch it. They
- 5:24start to recognize the voice, whatever
- 5:26style you're doing it, and the thumbnail
- 5:28itself. And that's the problem that
- 5:30faceless channels usually have. When
- 5:31there's no person on the screen, there's
- 5:33nothing really for people to remember
- 5:35you by that makes you stand out. And so,
- 5:37if you have a proven, you know,
- 5:39structured concept with a show that goes
- 5:41on and on and on with similar videos, of
- 5:43course, switching them up, but in the
- 5:45same format, you give them something to
- 5:46remember. And once you have a show, the
- 5:49third opportunity lets you put that same
- 5:51show in front of millions of people who
- 5:52have never heard about you without um
- 5:55actually making anything new. And I
- 5:56think it's the most underrated
- 5:57opportunity on YouTube right now. And
- 5:59it's the go global. Did you know that
- 6:02only like a tiny fraction of the YouTube
- 6:03viewers are actually based in countries
- 6:05like the US? And YouTube can now dub and
- 6:08translate your videos automatically,
- 6:10which means that it can translate your
- 6:12voices or your video into other
- 6:14languages. So, the same upload can be
- 6:16watched in a good experience in Spanish,
- 6:18Portuguese, German, French, Arabic,
- 6:20Chinese, whatever language you want to
- 6:21talk about. So, for a channel that's
- 6:23built around one person, that can be
- 6:25problematic because a lot of what
- 6:27actually makes those channels work is
- 6:29going to be the creator and the
- 6:30personality. And that doesn't always
- 6:33survive the transition or kind of the
- 6:35translation between the languages. But
- 6:38with a faceless channel, if you have a
- 6:39script, all of that is going to
- 6:41translate just fine. So, you do the work
- 6:42once, one script, one video, and that
- 6:45video can now be translated and watched
- 6:47into six or more languages automatically
- 6:49without you spending any money to do
- 6:51this or without you remaking anything as
- 6:54well. And you can even translate
- 6:55thumbnails, titles, etc. But there's
- 6:57still one big problem with all of this.
- 6:59When we talk about these like long
- 7:01faceless 30-minute videos, videos that
- 7:04look good on TV, different translations,
- 7:06how are you supposed to pull all of that
- 7:08off without, you know, a huge budget or
- 7:11big team if you're doing it by yourself?
- 7:14And that is exactly what the last
- 7:15opportunity fixes. And it's something
- 7:17that goes against how almost everybody's
- 7:20using AI. Most people that I see on
- 7:22YouTube are talking about using AI for
- 7:24volume. They're talking about increasing
- 7:26the productivity, doing more, producing
- 7:28more. They use it to make more videos
- 7:31faster with less effort, and YouTube is
- 7:33now flooded with But the real
- 7:35opportunity is actually the other way
- 7:37around because with AI, one person can
- 7:39now do the work that used to need a
- 7:41whole production company with research,
- 7:43voiceovers, translation, production
- 7:45design, etc. So, the big thing here is
- 7:49don't try to compete with like the slope
- 7:50channels and don't try to use AI to make
- 7:5350 really crappy AI quick videos.
- 7:56Instead, take advantage of what it can
- 7:58actually do for you and create four
- 8:01really good ones that would have needed
- 8:02a team of 10 people a year ago. And you
- 8:04can definitely do it. AI brings down the
- 8:06cost of making these videos, so the
- 8:08quality can go up if you play the game
- 8:10correctly. And better quality means that
- 8:12you can take on bigger challenges and
- 8:14bigger channels even as a beginner. And
- 8:17longer videos, you can also do that and
- 8:19they're exactly the thing that people
- 8:20watch on TV. So, you have YouTube
- 8:22pushing small channels, you have a show
- 8:24format, you have viewers coming back for
- 8:27more. You have dubbing, you can go
- 8:29global and that is why today with AI is
- 8:32the best time ever to start. But,
- 8:34realistically, the hardest part is
- 8:35simply starting and the number one
- 8:37reason faceless channels fail is that
- 8:38people give up too soon. They're
- 8:40climbing, they're about to, you know,
- 8:41reach the peak and they quit right
- 8:44before the results come. Or they never
- 8:45start climbing, they only stare at their
- 8:47goals. So, you have plenty of time to do
- 8:49this, but if you want to do this, you
- 8:51really have to start now.
