  1. 0:00More than 80 years ago, a dancer from
  2. 0:02Barbados began sharing an idea that
  3. 0:04would ultimately change the way
  4. 0:05generations of people thought about
  5. 0:06reality. His claim was that the life you
  6. 0:09experience is shaped by what you accept
  7. 0:11as true [music] within yourself. And his
  8. 0:13name was Neville Goddard. In 1944, he
  9. 0:15published a little book called Feeling
  10. 0:17is the Secret that distilled this
  11. 0:19philosophy into one remarkably simple
  12. 0:21idea. To experience something different
  13. 0:22in your life, first you have to
  14. 0:24experience it within yourself. But that
  15. 0:25created a question that almost everyone
  16. 0:27who encounters this teaching eventually
  17. 0:29runs into. How do you actually feel
  18. 0:31something you're not currently
  19. 0:32experiencing in your reality? That's
  20. 0:34what we're going to explore today. I'm
  21. 0:35going to break down Neville's
  22. 0:36philosophy, explain what he actually
  23. 0:38meant by feeling, and show you how to
  24. 0:40begin putting it into practice even when
  25. 0:42your current circumstances [music]
  26. 0:43seem to contradict everything that you
  27. 0:45want to believe. So, let's get into it.
  28. 0:50All right, guys. We're going to unpack
  29. 0:52Feeling is the Secret by Neville
  30. 0:53Goddard. In it, Neville presents an
  31. 0:55explanation of how he believes reality
  32. 0:57works. So, this book has four short
  33. 1:00chapters, and the foundation of all four
  34. 1:01is the relationship between your
  35. 1:03conscious and your subconscious mind.
  36. 1:05So, in Neville's model, your conscious
  37. 1:07mind can consider an idea, entertain a
  38. 1:10possibility, choose what to focus on.
  39. 1:12It's your thinker on a day-to-day basis.
  40. 1:14Your subconscious mind is then what
  41. 1:17either accepts or rejects the
  42. 1:18impressions
  43. 1:20that come from the conscious mind. And
  44. 1:22the subconscious mind is what actually
  45. 1:24brings those impressions into expression
  46. 1:26or material realization. So, your
  47. 1:28day-to-day thinking can influence your
  48. 1:30subconscious mind, but it's not your
  49. 1:31day-to-day thinking that is actually
  50. 1:33creating your reality. And the way you
  51. 1:34impress an idea, or the bridge between
  52. 1:37the conscious and the subconscious mind,
  53. 1:39is through the mechanism of feeling.
  54. 1:41Now, this word is important, because
  55. 1:42when people hear feeling, they often
  56. 1:45think they need to generate an enormous
  57. 1:46amount of emotion. So, the idea is like,
  58. 1:49let me sit here and meditate or
  59. 1:50visualize and try really, really hard to
  60. 1:52manufacture the feeling of what I want.
  61. 1:54And ironically, that's one of the
  62. 1:56biggest mistakes you can make when
  63. 1:57trying to apply this principle. So, some
  64. 2:00people think that they need to get
  65. 2:02excited enough, grateful enough,
  66. 2:04inspired enough. Like, if you can just
  67. 2:06turn up the emotional volume or the
  68. 2:08frequency, eventually something's going
  69. 2:09to happen. But, the distinction I want
  70. 2:10you to understand is the difference
  71. 2:12between manufacturing an emotion about
  72. 2:15something that you want versus feeling
  73. 2:18like you already have it.
  74. 2:20Okay, those are two completely different
  75. 2:21things because you can get very excited
  76. 2:23about the idea of a different life while
  77. 2:25still feeling underneath that excitement
  78. 2:27that it's far away or it's going to be
  79. 2:29difficult to accomplish or that it can
  80. 2:31happen for other people but not for you,
  81. 2:33right? The deeper acceptance
  82. 2:36is the feeling that we're looking for.
  83. 2:37So, let's talk about what that means,
  84. 2:39okay?
  85. 2:40I want you to think about something you
  86. 2:41already have.
  87. 2:43Your job, your business, a relationship
  88. 2:45that you love.
  89. 2:46So, here's the question.
  90. 2:48How hard do you have to work to feel
  91. 2:50like you already have it on a day-to-day
  92. 2:51basis?
  93. 2:52Right, the answer is you don't have to
  94. 2:54work very hard at all. Why?
  95. 2:57Because you already have it. There's a
  96. 2:58naturalness to it. There's an acceptance
  97. 3:00to it. There's a what isness to it. It
  98. 3:03just is. You just have it. If you have a
  99. 3:05relationship in your life that you
  100. 3:07really value, you don't have to sit down
  101. 3:09for an hour a day and focus on how that
  102. 3:10relationship feels, but you still feel
  103. 3:13that you have it
  104. 3:15because you do. There's a permanency, a
  105. 3:17residency in your nervous system to it.
  106. 3:21There aren't any doubtful thoughts or
  107. 3:22resistance about whether or not you'll
  108. 3:24ever have it because you do. You accept
  109. 3:27it and that acceptance is a state of
  110. 3:29being that you hold. And so, this is the
  111. 3:32feeling I think we're looking for is the
  112. 3:34already having of it and that's very
  113. 3:36different than the person who's trying
  114. 3:38to manifest it.
  115. 3:39So, let me share a personal story. There
  116. 3:41was a time in my life when I didn't have
  117. 3:43a relationship. I really, really wanted
  118. 3:45a relationship and for a long time I
  119. 3:47thought I had to obsess over having one.
  120. 3:49I remember hearing Napoleon Hill talk
  121. 3:51about a burning desire. So, I thought I
  122. 3:53needed to obsess around it, to write
  123. 3:55about it every morning, to sit down
  124. 3:57every day and occupy the state of being
  125. 3:59in a relationship. And so, that's what I
  126. 4:01did. I tried really, really hard to feel
  127. 4:03like I was in a relationship, but the
  128. 4:04truth was that I wasn't.
  129. 4:06And then I'd get frustrated. I would
  130. 4:08think to myself, "God, this isn't
  131. 4:10working at all." And then one day, I
  132. 4:12sort of gave up on the whole thing.
  133. 4:14Like, I got tired of trying so hard. Can
  134. 4:17you guess what happened next?
  135. 4:20What happened within a week was I met
  136. 4:22the woman of my dreams. I gave up trying
  137. 4:24so hard, and then it happened. So, how
  138. 4:27is that possible? Well, because the
  139. 4:29person who has a thing doesn't try hard
  140. 4:32to get it.
  141. 4:33The person who is inhabiting the
  142. 4:35identity of someone who has something
  143. 4:37just has it. You acknowledge it. Of
  144. 4:40course, you feel it,
  145. 4:42but you don't try so hard because that
  146. 4:44wouldn't make any sense if you already
  147. 4:45have a thing. And that's why trying too
  148. 4:48hard is one of the primary reasons
  149. 4:49people aren't successful in
  150. 4:50materializing what they want. Does that
  151. 4:52make sense? Yes, you have to feel it,
  152. 4:55but no, you don't have to try so hard
  153. 4:57because when you're putting a lot of
  154. 4:58effort into something, then you're not
  155. 5:00being the person who has it. And feeling
  156. 5:03as though you have it already is the
  157. 5:05key, according to Neville, to opening up
  158. 5:07the doorway to receiving it. And for
  159. 5:10years, this was like a puzzle to me, and
  160. 5:11I see so many people getting tripped up
  161. 5:13in this sense, especially when they hear
  162. 5:15Neville talking about how important
  163. 5:17feeling is. And of course, he's right,
  164. 5:19but what feeling? Feeling like the
  165. 5:21person who already has a thing is very
  166. 5:23different than feeling like the person
  167. 5:25who's trying to manifest a thing. It
  168. 5:27seems like a 2-mm distinction, but those
  169. 5:29feelings are miles apart. Now, Neville
  170. 5:32also recommends that you embody the
  171. 5:34feeling, right? Because feeling is the
  172. 5:36secret. Feeling like the person who
  173. 5:38already has the thing that you desire as
  174. 5:40you're drifting off to sleep. He talks a
  175. 5:42lot about sleep, and there's a lot of
  176. 5:44support around alpha waves, theta waves,
  177. 5:46beta waves, and the wave state of
  178. 5:48manifestation and what type of wave
  179. 5:50state we're in as we're drifting off to
  180. 5:51sleep because certain states allow the
  181. 5:53subconscious mind to be more accessible.
  182. 5:55And what Neville says is that as you're
  183. 5:56drifting off into sleep, that's the time
  184. 5:59to do your embodiment practice, right?
  185. 6:01His instruction is to use that
  186. 6:02transition into sleep to experience what
  187. 6:05he calls the satisfaction of your desire
  188. 6:08already fulfilled. So, as your body
  189. 6:10starts to relax and your attention
  190. 6:12begins to turn away from the room around
  191. 6:14you, sit in this inquiry. How would I
  192. 6:17feel if this were already resolved? If
  193. 6:19the thing I'm worried about had worked
  194. 6:21out, what would I be experiencing right
  195. 6:23here, right now? And then allow yourself
  196. 6:25to rest into that feeling, into that
  197. 6:27experience. You don't have to solve the
  198. 6:30situation in bed. You don't have to
  199. 6:31mentally organize every conversation and
  200. 6:33every action that would produce the
  201. 6:34outcome. That's not the point. You're
  202. 6:35practicing the experience of completion.
  203. 6:39Now, as I mentioned before, you don't
  204. 6:40want to make this another chore, right?
  205. 6:42Cuz it's easy to start thinking, "Okay,
  206. 6:44I've got to feel it. Am I feeling it
  207. 6:45enough? Was that the right feeling? What
  208. 6:47if I fall asleep before I do it
  209. 6:48properly?"
  210. 6:50That's all coming from my own personal
  211. 6:52experience. But suddenly you're back
  212. 6:54into being who? The person who doesn't
  213. 6:56have it. And that's why Neville talks
  214. 6:57about relaxation being the key. And I
  215. 7:00think this is much more important even
  216. 7:01than the feeling. Relax around the thing
  217. 7:03that you want. This is where I would
  218. 7:05connect it to a formula that we teach
  219. 7:06called the golden equation.
  220. 7:08It's really a really simple equation for
  221. 7:10how manifestation works. And that is
  222. 7:12desire plus non-resistance equals
  223. 7:15desired result. So, if you have a desire
  224. 7:18for something, if you want them
  225. 7:19something, and you don't have any
  226. 7:20resistance to that thing, there's no
  227. 7:22limiting beliefs, there's no urgency,
  228. 7:25right? Given a little bit of time, 100%
  229. 7:27of the time, consistently and
  230. 7:28predictably, you will create that
  231. 7:29outcome. So, let the practice be gentle.
  232. 7:33Enjoy relaxing into the receiving of the
  233. 7:35feeling of already having. And as you do
  234. 7:37that, you're practicing the identity of
  235. 7:40the version of you that already has it.
  236. 7:41This brings us to Neville's third
  237. 7:44chapter on prayer. So, for Neville,
  238. 7:46prayer involves entering this inward
  239. 7:49experience of the answer already
  240. 7:51received. And this is a very different
  241. 7:52relationship to desire because so often,
  242. 7:54even when we're praying, we're actually
  243. 7:56reinforcing the distance between
  244. 7:58ourselves and what we want. Might sound
  245. 7:59something like, "Please help me get
  246. 8:01there." You know, "Oh God, please let
  247. 8:03this happen. Please change the
  248. 8:04situation." And underneath those words,
  249. 8:07we may still be feeling helpless,
  250. 8:10separate, uncertain whether what we want
  251. 8:12is available. And so Neville asks you to
  252. 8:15assume the inward attitude of someone
  253. 8:17whose prayer has already been answered.
  254. 8:20It's a very different kind of prayer,
  255. 8:21right? That's more like a form of
  256. 8:23Thanksgiving. So proper prayer,
  257. 8:25according to Neville, is an
  258. 8:26acknowledgement that what you want
  259. 8:28already is. You're just waiting in eager
  260. 8:31anticipation for its material
  261. 8:32realization. Now I want to pause here
  262. 8:34because this is exactly where I think
  263. 8:36people get stuck. And I want to share
  264. 8:38with you a distinction that Neville
  265. 8:39teaches that was a literal game-changer
  266. 8:42for my capacity to inhabit the feeling
  267. 8:44of the wish fulfilled. But before I
  268. 8:45continue, I did want to let you know
  269. 8:47that I've spent the last 18 months
  270. 8:48working on a project that is truly going
  271. 8:50to change personal growth forever. And
  272. 8:52on December 4th and 5th, I'm going to be
  273. 8:54doing a live two-day masterclass. It's
  274. 8:56called the Change Mind Masterclass. To
  275. 8:58finally reveal what I believe is the
  276. 9:00missing piece to creating consistent
  277. 9:01sustainable change. And to celebrate
  278. 9:03that, I'm doing something I've never
  279. 9:05done before called Mindset Month. So for
  280. 9:07the next 30 days, I'm inviting you to do
  281. 9:08personal growth with me, and it's
  282. 9:10completely free. For 30 days, I'll be
  283. 9:12sending you daily tools and practices
  284. 9:14and AI-powered experiences to help you
  285. 9:16actually integrate everything we're
  286. 9:18talking about here into your daily life.
  287. 9:20And then on December 4th and 5th, you'll
  288. 9:22join me for the two-day masterclass
  289. 9:24where I'm going to break down the system
  290. 9:26that we've put together that we are
  291. 9:27finally ready to reveal. Right? There's
  292. 9:29a link in the description of this
  293. 9:30episode. You can go click on it, get
  294. 9:32registered for free for Mindset Month,
  295. 9:34and we'll be able to do personal growth
  296. 9:35together for the next 30 days. Okay? So
  297. 9:38check that out for sure. Now, as I
  298. 9:41mentioned, a lot of people get stuck at
  299. 9:43this point. They understand everything
  300. 9:44we've just talked about. They understand
  301. 9:46the idea of feeling the wish fulfilled.
  302. 9:48They understand the bedtime practice.
  303. 9:50They understand that repeating words
  304. 9:51while feeling the opposite isn't the
  305. 9:53same as accepting something as true. But
  306. 9:55then they look at their circumstances
  307. 9:57and they say, "David, I'd love to feel
  308. 9:59that way, but it isn't true. I'm not
  309. 10:02financially free. I haven't met that
  310. 10:04person. My business isn't where I want
  311. 10:06it to be." And so this entire technique,
  312. 10:09this technology that Neville is
  313. 10:10recommending, starts to feel like you're
  314. 10:11trying to trick yourself or like you're
  315. 10:13pretending.
  316. 10:14And to me, this is where another part of
  317. 10:16Neville's teaching becomes so, so
  318. 10:17powerful. Because underneath that
  319. 10:19resistance is an assumption. And the
  320. 10:22assumption is that the reality that
  321. 10:24you're experiencing is the only reality
  322. 10:27that exists and the only reality that
  323. 10:29you can respond to, what you're
  324. 10:31detecting with your five senses. In
  325. 10:33other words, if I can see it, if I can
  326. 10:34touch it, if I can hear it,
  327. 10:36then I believe it. And whatever it is
  328. 10:38that I'm experiencing, that's what I'm
  329. 10:40allowed to feel. But until then, I have
  330. 10:43to wait. And so, Neville challenges that
  331. 10:45assumption. In a later book called Out
  332. 10:46of This World, he explores what he calls
  333. 10:49thinking fourth-dimensionally. Now, I've
  334. 10:51done some episodes on this. They're some
  335. 10:53of my most popular episodes. But Neville
  336. 10:55says, "Look, there are actually two
  337. 10:57dimensions existing simultaneously right
  338. 10:59now. There's the third dimension, which
  339. 11:01is a material dimension that we detect
  340. 11:03through our senses, and we usually refer
  341. 11:05to that as reality. It's the exclusive
  342. 11:07It's the only reality. But he says
  343. 11:09existing parallel to the third dimension
  344. 11:11is a fourth dimension. It's an equally
  345. 11:13valid reality. It's a kind of fabric of
  346. 11:16potential that is all around us. It is
  347. 11:18an invisible energetic reality where all
  348. 11:20possibilities exist right here, right
  349. 11:23now. Some people refer to this as the
  350. 11:24field. In fact, he says something really
  351. 11:26powerful about the fourth dimension,
  352. 11:28which is that in the fourth dimension,
  353. 11:30creation is already finished.
  354. 11:33What he means by that is
  355. 11:34everything that ever has and ever will
  356. 11:36exist actually exists right here, right
  357. 11:39now in the fourth dimension. So, your
  358. 11:41dream home, your soulmate relationship,
  359. 11:43the successful business, the abundant
  360. 11:45bank account, it all exists right here,
  361. 11:47right now.
  362. 11:49And your ability to materialize that
  363. 11:51reality into your third dimension
  364. 11:53material physical existence is to align
  365. 11:56your thoughts, your emotions, and your
  366. 11:58identity
  367. 11:59with the thing that you want, to act as
  368. 12:01if you are the person who already has
  369. 12:03those things. And then those things must
  370. 12:05materialize. Now, he's not talking about
  371. 12:07some sort of instant manifestation where
  372. 12:09a million-dollar bank account just
  373. 12:10magically appears on your cell phone.
  374. 12:11What he's saying
  375. 12:13is that as you align yourself with the
  376. 12:15person who already has the thing through
  377. 12:17thoughts that you have, actions that you
  378. 12:19take, coincidences that occur, given a
  379. 12:21short period of time,
  380. 12:23it will move from the fourth dimension
  381. 12:25into your third dimensional reality. And
  382. 12:26I love this idea because for so long I
  383. 12:28struggled with this idea that I had to
  384. 12:30feel like I had something when I didn't
  385. 12:32have it. But when I understood Neville's
  386. 12:34fourth dimensional philosophy and I
  387. 12:35bought into it, that what I want does
  388. 12:38exist right here, right now, then I was
  389. 12:41able to truly say, "Okay, look, I know I
  390. 12:43have this thing. I'm just waiting for
  391. 12:45reality to catch up. I'm waiting for my
  392. 12:47frequency to calibrate to that reality,
  393. 12:49and then
  394. 12:51my circumstances and the space around me
  395. 12:53must match that which I've been loyal
  396. 12:55to." And that gave me permission to
  397. 12:58start feeling as though I had it. And
  398. 13:01that's exactly the technique that
  399. 13:02Neville is teaching. So, I think this
  400. 13:04fourth dimensional concept is really
  401. 13:06important and really helpful. Sometimes
  402. 13:08I think about it as almost being like a
  403. 13:09360° movie screen. And as I change my
  404. 13:12frequency, as I start to assume the wish
  405. 13:14fulfilled and change my thoughts and
  406. 13:15change my emotions and change my
  407. 13:17identity, then the movie changes around
  408. 13:20me.
  409. 13:21And so, this is a really important
  410. 13:22distinction that unlocks our capacity to
  411. 13:26live as though the wish were fulfilled.
  412. 13:29And as Neville pointed out, that feeling
  413. 13:31is the secret. So, this has been a
  414. 13:32game-changer for me, for my life. It's
  415. 13:35how I attracted my wife. It's how I
  416. 13:36built my business. It's why I give
  417. 13:37myself permission to think big and dream
  418. 13:39big and anticipate the having of things
  419. 13:42that other people would think are
  420. 13:43impossible because I believe to a great
  421. 13:46degree I do already have it. It's right
  422. 13:49here, right now. And that belief, that
  423. 13:51feeling is what then compels my reality
  424. 13:53to confirm that as fact. In fact,
  425. 13:56Neville suggests that when you're
  426. 13:58imagining something, you're not making
  427. 13:59it up. You're tuning into the field that
  428. 14:02is right here, right now. And that the
  429. 14:04evidence of the fact that what you want
  430. 14:06is right here, right now is the fact
  431. 14:08that you can imagine it.
  432. 14:10In other words, your brain is like a
  433. 14:11receiver and you're tuning into that
  434. 14:13part of the field or the fourth
  435. 14:15dimension, you can see your future. And
  436. 14:17now the key or the work is to live as
  437. 14:20though it were already here because it
  438. 14:22actually is. Like this just makes so
  439. 14:24much sense to me.
  440. 14:26And again, some people will say, "Man,
  441. 14:27you're out there, right? You're just
  442. 14:28pretending something that isn't real."
  443. 14:31And I like to say, "Yes, I'm pretending.
  444. 14:35I'm tending in advance to the reality
  445. 14:38that I'm creating." Now, if you want to
  446. 14:40take what we've talked about today and
  447. 14:41actually start thinking
  448. 14:42fourth-dimensionally and living
  449. 14:44fourth-dimensionally. Again, I want to
  450. 14:45invite you into something that I'm
  451. 14:46really excited about. Like I mentioned
  452. 14:47before, for the last 18 months I've been
  453. 14:49working behind the scenes on the biggest
  454. 14:51thing I've ever created. What I believe
  455. 14:52is the missing piece that explains why
  456. 14:54you can do all this work on yourself and
  457. 14:56still struggle to make changes stick.
  458. 14:58I'm finally revealing it at the Change
  459. 15:00Mind Masterclass on December 4th and 5th
  460. 15:02and to celebrate that, I'm doing mindset
  461. 15:04month. So, for 30 days, I'm going to do
  462. 15:06personal growth with you. Daily tools,
  463. 15:09practices, new AI-powered experiences to
  464. 15:11help you build a rhythm and actually
  465. 15:13implement what we're talking about here.
  466. 15:15So, by the time we get to the
  467. 15:17masterclass, you've already started
  468. 15:19experiencing change. And it's all
  469. 15:21completely free. All you have to do is

  483. 15:45with you, pay it forward and share it
  484. 15:46with somebody else. But the most
  485. 15:47important thing is, let's get into
  486. 15:48mindset month together. It's been an
  487. 15:50honor and a privilege to be here with
  488. 15:51you today. I thank you so much. I love
  489. 15:53you so much and I'm looking forward to
  490. 15:54seeing you in mindset month and in the
  491. 15:56next episode.
