- 0:36I've been wanting to film a video like
- 0:38this in so long. I was going to sleep
- 0:39last night and I was like, "Okay, it's
- 0:40time. I need to just bring you along for
- 0:42my morning routine because I have very,
- 0:45what's the word I'm looking for?
- 0:46Meticulously, purposefully curated a
- 0:48morning routine that sets me up for a
- 0:50good day. especially mostly what we're
- 0:52focusing on today, designing a morning
- 0:54routine that focuses specifically on
- 0:55nervous system regulation and just like
- 0:58trying to set myself up for the best day
- 0:59because since getting this ordering and
- 1:01seeing my stress levels, my body's
- 1:03stress levels, not even my brain's
- 1:05stress levels, my body's stress levels,
- 1:07I was like, "Oh, really just propelled
- 1:09me into this nervous system research and
- 1:11wanting to learn so much about it and
- 1:13trying to implement exercises and
- 1:15certain things to teach my body that
- 1:17it's calm because apparently the way
- 1:18I've been living isn't promoting or
- 1:20giving me a a calm nervous system and
- 1:22that's what we want. So, I thought I
- 1:24could just bring you along for
- 1:25everything. It's not like anything
- 1:27crazy, not things that are really hard
- 1:28to do because I know myself and I won't
- 1:30do them. Let's pop you here. I'm just
- 1:32making myself fresh ginger tea.
- 1:34Obviously, you don't have to make it
- 1:35fresh cuz it can be a little
- 1:36timeconuming. Probably pre pre-make it
- 1:38as well and then just heat it up. I just
- 1:40cut some fresh ginger, pop it in some
- 1:42water, and then just like let it simmer
- 1:43for 10 minutes to let it all steep. I've
- 1:46been doing this every morning recently.
- 1:48It's nice and warming. It's that ginger
- 1:49kick. It feels like it's doing really
- 1:51good things.
- 1:54No, that's good. Let's take you outside.
- 1:56Okay. Well, you can see the cloud
- 1:57coverage that we've got. First thing I
- 1:59do every single morning without a doubt,
- 2:00like I will not I will not break this
- 2:02for anything is open up the blinds and
- 2:04see natural light. Tell my body gently
- 2:06that it's that it's morning. Seeing
- 2:07natural light and then if possible going
- 2:09outside and just feeling the sunshine on
- 2:11your face to set up my circadian rhythm
- 2:13for the rest of the day, for the first
- 2:1430 minutes of the day as well, I do not
- 2:16touch my phone. It stays on charge and I
- 2:17do not I do not touch it. Ideally more
- 2:19but normally around 30 minutes is
- 2:21realistic. And then yeah, as you saw,
- 2:23I've just kind of like potted around by
- 2:24opening up all the blinds, washing my
- 2:26face, putting my SPF on, doing my tongue
- 2:28scrape or brushing my teeth. Another
- 2:29thing that I have been doing when I'm
- 2:32brushing my teeth humming kind of like a
- 2:33deep hum like a I feel silly doing it,
- 2:37but like when you can feel it in your
- 2:38chest, they're like, "Wait, I've got
- 2:40stage fright. I'm like embarrassed to do
- 2:42it on the internet, but you know, just
- 2:43like a deep hum. I've been doing that
- 2:44when I'm brushing my teeth." So, it's
- 2:46like 2 minutes and I'll hum. And that's
- 2:48apparently supposed to calm your vag
- 2:50nerve, which is huge in nervous system
- 2:52regulation. Apparently, once I was told
- 2:54about it, I was like, "Hey, can't hurt
- 2:56to try it." And then after you brush
- 2:57your teeth, doing like 20 30 seconds of
- 2:59goggling afterwards. Also is good for
- 3:00your Vegas nerve. Then I'll make my
- 3:01ginger tea and come outside and usually
- 3:04the sun is out. So, I'll try and sit
- 3:06here for like 10 15 minutes and just
- 3:07like get a bit of sunshine and get get a
- 3:09bit of vitamin D cuz it just puts me in
- 3:11the best mood just sitting here and like
- 3:12feeling the sun on my skin. I'm no
- 3:13better than a plant. I'm watering myself
- 3:15and getting sunshine. So, and then I
- 3:18like to kind of sit in stillness for a
- 3:19bit. I feel like I used to be like, "Oh
- 3:21yeah, I won't go on my phone. I'll wake
- 3:23up and see normal light, blah blah
- 3:24blah." I would maybe play some music or
- 3:26pop a YouTube video on as I'm making my
- 3:28tea and kind of like pottering around
- 3:30the house. And one thing that I've been
- 3:31really trying to focus on the most is
- 3:33doing one thing at a time. If I'm in the
- 3:35kitchen making my tea, that is what I'm
- 3:37doing. I'm not multitasking by listening
- 3:40to something. Do you know what I mean?
- 3:41Like watching something in the
- 3:42background. I've been trying my best to
- 3:44just do one thing at a time cuz I often
- 3:46feel quite overwhelmed and I think often
- 3:48what is doing that to me the most is
- 3:49because I'm trying to do like five
- 3:50things at once and so I've just been
- 3:52trying to focus on the task the thing
- 3:54that I'm doing. Good morning.
- 3:57You're so cute. Yeah, I'll normally come
- 3:59outside, sit in the sun. I've got my
- 4:02gratefuls journal. This one's just the
- 4:045minute journal. So it has a few
- 4:05prompts. It says I'm grateful for what
- 4:07would make today great. Daily
- 4:08affirmation. Oh my gosh, the sun. See,
- 4:10this is why I normally sit that way.
- 4:11Then I'm not squinting. Should I move?
- 4:13I'm going to move cuz I'm just going to
- 4:15be closing my eyes. But yeah, I'll
- 4:16normally just sit out here and breathe.
- 4:18Just like some big deep breaths in, big
- 4:20deep breaths out. I'll also do some EFT
- 4:22tapping. I'll start here and then I'll
- 4:24go here, here, here, and then on top of
- 4:27my head here. Feels so silly doing it.
- 4:31And then on my chest as well. And I'll
- 4:33just like go around in those motions.
- 4:35I'll just keep repeating that whilst
- 4:37doing some deep breathing. like big deep
- 4:39breaths in really like fill up the belly
- 4:41and then exhale everything out. I try
- 4:43and exhale for longer than What is
- 4:46Harvey chewing? Harvey was the squeaky
- 4:49bit of plastic from his toy. But yeah,
- 4:51exhaling for more than I'm inhaling.
- 4:53Apparently also your heart rate rises as
- 4:55you inhale and then lowers as you
- 4:57exhale. So a deep breath in and then a
- 4:59really long exhale out is really good.
- 5:01So yeah, I'll usually just sit here for
- 5:0210 to 15 minutes and do my breathing.
- 5:05just kind of like have a moment of
- 5:07stillness in the morning. Sets you up
- 5:09for a good point. Whatever kind of day
- 5:10you're having, I'll also sometimes,
- 5:12which it's one of those things like it's
- 5:14not embarrassing when you're doing it
- 5:15yourself, but when someone's around you
- 5:18or when you're filming it, it becomes
- 5:19embarrassing. But I will also just sit
- 5:21here with my eyes closed breathing and I
- 5:23will tell myself I'm safe. Um cuz
- 5:26apparently my body doesn't believe it.
- 5:27Doing butterfly taps or the little
- 5:29sequence that I was showing before and
- 5:31I'll just breathe and I'll just say I'm
- 5:33safe. I am safe. I am safe body. I am
- 5:38safe. Just as a bit of an affirmation
- 5:40and just to try and re reiterate to my
- 5:42body that it is safe and that we are
- 5:44starting the day from a safe
- 5:47calm
- 5:48kind of place. Apparently our cortisol
- 5:50is the highest in the morning as well.
- 5:52So the most we can do in the morning to
- 5:54keep that low the better. And then I
- 5:56also do my gratefuls as well. So I'm
- 5:57going to sit out here, feel the sunshine
- 5:59on my skin, do my tapping, my breathing,
- 6:02my affirmations, my gratefuls. It sounds
- 6:05silly, but at first I found it not
- 6:07challenging, but I found it just like,
- 6:08oh, just get this done. Just get it done
- 6:10so I can like get along with my day. But
- 6:11now I love doing it. Like I sit out here
- 6:13and I'm just like I don't want it to end
- 6:14cuz it's just like the most me time and
- 6:16like filling my own cup. The quote of
- 6:18the day because every single day you get
- 6:20like a little quote from someone at the
- 6:21top of the page. And today's is in a
- 6:23gentle way you can shake the world.
- 6:26[Music]
- 6:41Time to get out of my PJs.
- 6:44[Music]
- 6:50I washed my hair last night and then
- 6:52went straight to bed and it is looking
- 6:54good. I'm going to walk the boys now.
- 6:55Not only for them, obviously they love
- 6:57it, but sematic exercises wise, walking
- 6:59is incredible for just like clearing
- 7:01everything, getting everything moving.
- 7:02So, and walking is just one of my
- 7:04favorite things in the world. Honestly,
- 7:05I don't think I've ever been in a bad
- 7:06mood after a walk. I need some
- 7:09deodorant. I showed this in a vlog a
- 7:10couple of weeks ago. Wild Now does roll
- 7:12on deodorants. This is obviously the
- 7:14cutest bee case in the world, but they
- 7:16did recently send me a new I think these
- 7:17are limited edition cases. This is the
- 7:19original refillable cases that you've
- 7:21probably seen before. These are the roll
- 7:23on. Most bathroom products I feel like
- 7:25that we use are throwaway products. So
- 7:27you use them once and then you throw
- 7:28them out. And so Wild's main mission is
- 7:30to create products that disrupt that
- 7:32throwaway culture of single-use things.
- 7:34You get your refills. This is my new
- 7:35scent. It is wildflower bloom which
- 7:37feels perfect for spring. This is the
- 7:39coconut and vanilla which is just like
- 7:41so good. Like who doesn't want to smell
- 7:42like coconut and vanilla? I also didn't
- 7:44explain. This is what you get as the
- 7:45refill. And that is completely
- 7:46compostable. And each refill saves 30 g
- 7:50of plastic as At the end of the day,
- 7:51everything we put on our skin is going
- 7:52into our body. So, I just like to be
- 7:54very aware of what I'm putting on my
- 7:56skin, specifically my underarms as well.
- 7:58It's all very connected. There's no
- 7:59aluminium salts, there's no parabens,
- 8:01vegan and cruelty-free, and they're also
- 8:02suitable for sensitive skin. They do
- 8:04have specific sensitive skin ones, but
- 8:06I've never had any problems. Oh my gosh,
- 8:08that smells so good. I feel like
- 8:09probably most people's resistance with
- 8:12natural deodorants is that they don't
- 8:13want to smell, which is really valid.
- 8:15But these are actually scientifically
- 8:16proven to last for 24 hours. I'll pop a
- 8:18little QR code that you can scan that
- 8:19will take you straight there. But I do
- 8:20also have a discount code always. It's
- 8:22just so familiar. I'll pop everything in
- 8:23description box and like link it all if
- 8:25you're interested in trying it out. But
- 8:26huge fan of Wild and the fact that
- 8:28they're doing rollons. Big move. Anyway,
- 8:31I am going to take the boys for a walk.
- 8:33We normally go for like 20 minutes.
- 8:34Nothing crazy, but it just gets them
- 8:35outside and it gets me outside. So, it's
- 8:38a win for everyone.
- 8:44[Music]
- 9:07Something that's always stayed very
- 9:09consistent with me is that I'm a
- 9:10breakfast girl. It's a huge part of my
- 9:13morning and I always try and eat within
- 9:15roughly 60 minutes of waking. Sometimes
- 9:17it's earlier, sometimes it's a bit
- 9:18later, but roughly I love to eat within
- 9:2060 minutes of waking. I've noticed such
- 9:22a change in my skin, just how my body
- 9:25feels really. I feel like I don't feel
- 9:26as like uh like I just the best way I
- 9:28can describe is that it feels like it's
- 9:30grounding my body for the day. If I
- 9:31don't have breakfast,
- 9:33I'm a mess. I like I can't focus on
- 9:35anything. My current breakfast fixation
- 9:37that I've been having for the last few
- 9:39weeks, I went off my pancake, which is
- 9:41huge news if you've been around here for
- 9:42a while. One day I just ate it and I was
- 9:44like, "Something's different." And it it
- 9:46wasn't different. It was just me. But
- 9:47recently, I've just been quite lazy with
- 9:49breakfast. I've just been doing boiled
- 9:51eggs and then I do a little yogurt pure
- 9:53berry yogurt bowl kind of thing cuz I
- 9:55always want a little bit of savory and a
- 9:56little bit of sweet. And this has just
- 9:57kind of been like getting that done for
- 9:59me recently. But I also like to get 30 g
- 10:01roughly of protein in my breakfast. So
- 10:04I'll do eggs, three eggs, or I'll do two
- 10:06eggs with a bit of protein powder in my
- 10:09little yogurt bowl. While they're
- 10:10boiling, I make my own cuz I like the
- 10:13cheese seeds to sit for a bit and really
- 10:14like soak up. This is another thing that
- 10:16I have to work on it every single day
- 10:17because every single day I want to put a
- 10:19YouTube video up or listen to something
- 10:21whilst I'm making breakfast. I just got
- 10:22in such a habit of always laying
- 10:24something and never just doing one thing
- 10:26at a time. So, this is another example
- 10:27of doing one thing at a time. I'm just
- 10:29making my breakfast. I can think about
- 10:31everything that I need to do today and
- 10:33just like feel things and not constantly
- 10:35kind of be distracting myself with
- 10:37something so that I'm not actually
- 10:39feeling my emotions because one of the
- 10:40biggest things for me, you can't talk
- 10:42yourself into a better nervous system is
- 10:44feeling it. You can't conceptualize it.
- 10:46You, you know, you can't try and like
- 10:48logic your way out of it, which is what
- 10:49I often try and do. You can't try and
- 10:51outsmart it. Like you actually just have
- 10:53to do the work and it actually takes so
- 10:55much time. Like it's something that I'm
- 10:57never going to just be like done. And
- 10:58like now I can stop doing all of my
- 11:00little things and exercises because I'm
- 11:02I'm all good now. I feel like it's
- 11:03constantly something I'm going to have
- 11:04to work on cuz I just feel like the
- 11:06world that we live in is almost quite
- 11:07disregulating. So it's trying to kind of
- 11:10like design a life or kind of trying to
- 11:12tailor your life as much as possible to
- 11:14support your nervous system. Whether
- 11:15that's stopping certain things. I used
- 11:17to work out on an empty stomach all the
- 11:19time and that is just something I can't
- 11:20do anymore. And I feel like after a
- 11:22while of doing it, you learn what your
- 11:23body actually reacts well to and you
- 11:26actually feel a difference with certain
- 11:27things. I'm not making my yoga ball and
- 11:29these are these are boiling. I need to I
- 11:30really try to logic my way out of it. If
- 11:34I just think this, if I just think this,
- 11:35but it's the body and like actually
- 11:37getting into the body. Feel like I'm
- 11:38doing an awful job at explaining it, but
- 11:40I feel like it's just kind of like a
- 11:41constant thing that I will always work
- 11:43on because it's just getting your body
- 11:45into that state of actually feeling safe
- 11:48and not your brain. Like it's easy
- 11:49enough to distract yourself or yeah, try
- 11:52and logic your way out of it, but
- 11:53unfortunately that is not how it works.
- 11:55I've just put chia seeds and psy into my
- 11:58bowl. And then I'll put a bit of water
- 11:59or milk in with that just to kind of
- 12:00like soak it all up. This is where I
- 12:02normally put protein powder in, but I'm
- 12:04out of my protein powder.
- 12:08I'm out of raspberries. It's actually so
- 12:10sad. Look how sad this looks. And then
- 12:12instead of just eating my true Brazil
- 12:13nuts, wo, I have been crushing it up as
- 12:15a little bit of a crunch.
- 12:18[Music]
- 12:25[Music]
- 12:43[Music]
- 12:49[Music]
- 12:57[Music]
- 13:05This is the best color of the day. I ran
- 13:07out of my M. No, not yesterday. The day
- 13:10before. So, I literally couldn't have
- 13:13one. It was really sad. So, I ordered
- 13:16one for myself straight away. My dad
- 13:18texted me and he was like, "Have you are
- 13:19you out?" And I was like, "Yes." It's
- 13:20nothing like a fresh packet. Look at
- 13:23that.
- 13:25I'm so excited cuz I know when yesterday
- 13:27I feel like this is like I don't know.
- 13:28I've looked forward to this for so long.
- 13:29The daily question of what what cup am I
- 13:32going today? Cuz it does change the
- 13:33whole experience. I think I'm going to
- 13:35go to this one. My little bees. So glad
- 13:37that gym workout is done. It wasn't even
- 13:39bad. It wasn't a bad workout, but I was
- 13:40just like not feeling bad. I just didn't
- 13:42want to do it. I also do not by any
- 13:44means do a workout every single day. I
- 13:46feel like I do one maybe three times a
- 13:48week and that's like tops at the moment.
- 13:50I'll always walk. Sorry, this is going
- 13:52to get loud. Always go for my walks, but
- 13:54in terms of
- 13:56working out definitely try and strength
- 13:58train
- 13:59I want to say three times a week.
- 14:01Sometimes I'm really good and I do like
- 14:02four and sometimes I do zero or one. But
- 14:05it's just something I'm like I'm not
- 14:06trying to be hard on hard about myself
- 14:08on. I also very much train with my
- 14:10cycle. So I'm currently in my follicular
- 14:11phase. I might train a little bit harder
- 14:13or push myself a little bit more in that
- 14:15phase and then more so in the ludal I'll
- 14:18do things like Pilates or just more
- 14:20walking and just kind of like trying to
- 14:22work with work with my body. I will say
- 14:24cuz I had a coffee yesterday and I was
- 14:27so I just felt really jittery afterwards
- 14:30and I forgot how I used to feel like
- 14:32that more times than not with drinking
- 14:34coffee and I just I just feel like I'm
- 14:35so used to not feeling like that because
- 14:36of drinking matcha now that yeah I
- 14:38forgot how big of a difference the
- 14:40switch made to how I felt for the rest
- 14:42of the day. Even though I still love
- 14:43coffee, I still do. I do love it. The
- 14:45way that this makes me feel compared to
- 14:46it is astronomical. You ready?
- 14:52Yeah.
- 14:54Mhm. Oh, I missed this. I'm not joking
- 14:56when I say that this is one of my
- 14:58favorite parts of my morning. Okay, and
- 15:00that pretty much wraps up. Whoa. Pretty
- 15:02much wraps up my morning routine. I
- 15:04normally just sit down and start my
- 15:06to-do list. Usually just on my laptop.
- 15:08One of the biggest things I've been
- 15:09trying to rewire is constantly being so
- 15:11busy or kind of like wanting to be so
- 15:13busy all the time being like, I have so
- 15:15much to do. I have so much to do. Like I
- 15:16really try and come into my day being
- 15:17like, all right, what are the top three
- 15:19things? And then if there's more, then I
- 15:20can just focus on them after I've done
- 15:21the first three. But I feel like I would
- 15:23write down like 20 plus to-do list and
- 15:25then be like I have so much on. I have
- 15:26so much to do. Really just trying to
- 15:28like not make my identity being busy for
- 15:30so long. And even morning routines in
- 15:32general, I feel like it was such a thing
- 15:33a few years ago to be like hustle, you
- 15:35know, be up at sunrise and like getting
- 15:37so many things done, which obviously
- 15:39it's a season. And obviously things work
- 15:42work differently for different people,
- 15:43but I think for me that was not doing
- 15:45anything good. I don't need to do that.
- 15:46I will now always prioritize sleep and
- 15:49taking even if it's 5 10 minutes out of
- 15:51my day just to have stillness. I also
- 15:53saw something on TikTok a couple days
- 15:54ago which I really liked and it was if
- 15:56you feel like you know things like
- 15:57journaling and trying to logic your way
- 15:59out of it is doing nothing. Things that
- 16:01can actually get you into your body and
- 16:03just more so out of your brain and into
- 16:05your body is when you go on a walk every
- 16:07single person that you pass on your walk
- 16:08try and think of a really nice thing
- 16:10about them. So whether that was they
- 16:12have a really nice smile or they walk
- 16:14really confidently or their style is
- 16:16nice like they're wearing a nice outfit
- 16:17or something. I think he was saying
- 16:18something along the lines of like it's
- 16:20rewiring yourself to not see every
- 16:23single person as some sort of a threat.
- 16:24I don't know. I just saw it and I was
- 16:25like I really like that. Also something
- 16:27I was taught was to have three anchors
- 16:29in your day. So in the morning whether
- 16:31that's doing your breathing or sematic
- 16:32exercises or like shaking out your body
- 16:34and like literally like getting into
- 16:36your body visibly shaking it all out
- 16:37saying affirmations that kind of thing
- 16:39doing three times a day. So, in the
- 16:40morning, midday to almost like recenter
- 16:42yourself and then at the end of the day
- 16:44as well. Sometimes I don't even feel my
- 16:45body and then I'll check. I didn't have
- 16:47to really check my sleep score last
- 16:49night. What was it? It's loading. 91.
- 16:53Nice. Sometimes I check the app and I
- 16:54can see that my stress has like gone up
- 16:56and then after I've done just some
- 16:58breathing or got up and just kind of
- 17:00like had a second, I'll see it drop
- 17:01down. Anyway, that is pretty much my
- 17:03morning routine that is very simple but
- 17:05has practices in it to hopefully work on
- 17:07my nervous system and just keeping it at
- 17:09a place where it's not stressed out all
- 17:11the time. But if you do have any any
- 17:13more tips, I'm always I always want to
- 17:15know that. Learning about the nervous
- 17:16system is really something I've only
- 17:18kind of gotten into in the last year
- 17:20maybe. And I'm so glad I started to
- 17:22learn about it because it's so
- 17:23interesting and I didn't even realize
- 17:24how much of a heightened state that I
- 17:26was living at or in. And I feel like so
- 17:28many people are and it's hard. It's hard
- 17:30not to in the world we live in. Anyway,
- 17:31it feels weird to just end the video
- 17:32here because normally when I'm filming,
- 17:33I film for a week or at least a day. But
- 17:35I really hope you enjoyed watching. I
- 17:37love talking about all of this stuff so
- 17:39much. So, I hope it was somewhat
- 17:40interesting. I really want to do my
- 17:41night routine as well. It's been pivotal
- 17:43in improving my sleep. So, I'll
- 17:45definitely post that one soon, too.
- 17:46Anyway, I need to stop talking because
- 17:47this isn't a vlog. But, I hope you
- 17:48enjoyed and I will see you next week.
