- 0:00Some of these tools I'm going to show
- 0:01you are really easy to use. Think that a
- 0:02lot of people sleep on what's available
- 0:05to you through Google and people just
- 0:07like get hyperfocused on Chat GBT or
- 0:09Claude without realizing that these
- 0:11incredible tools exist. And they have
- 0:13something called avatars. So when you
- 0:16set this up for the first time, you scan
- 0:17your face and then you have a digital
- 0:20avatar of yourself that you can use for
- 0:22[music] any video. You can't do that
- 0:23with Claude. Just learn this stuff and
- 0:25then bring it to businesses who don't
- 0:26know how to do it. That feels so easy to
- 0:28me. For someone that's listening to this
- 0:30[music] conversation, what would you
- 0:31have as like the immediate step one?
- 0:33>> It's really not that hard. I would
- 0:36actually start with
- 0:39>> Okay, today's guest is Paul Lipkin.
- 0:42Before we even get into it, I just have
- 0:43to come out and say it. I did not expect
- 0:46to record this episode on this topic.
- 0:49And the reason that I say that is that a
- 0:51few weeks ago, I have a call with Paul.
- 0:53And during that call, he starts to share
- 0:55with me all of these different tools and
- 0:57workflows that he's using. And then he
- 1:00gets to this part where he starts
- 1:01showing me these AI tools that I've
- 1:03never really heard anyone talk about.
- 1:05I'm not talking about Claude or the new
- 1:07chat GPT feature. I'm talking about
- 1:10Google suite of AI tools, specifically
- 1:13Google AI Studio 2.0, Gemini, and Gemini
- 1:17Notebook. And when he showed me these
- 1:19workflows, I actually interrupted him on
- 1:21the call and I told him, I said, "You
- 1:23know what? Let's just focus the whole
- 1:25episode around showing people how they
- 1:27can use those three tools in their
- 1:30business, their content, and their
- 1:32life." And so that's what we did. And so
- 1:34by the end of this conversation, you're
- 1:36going to learn how to use your Gmail
- 1:38better. You're going to see how you can
- 1:40build apps and even create content and
- 1:43do research in ways that you never
- 1:45expected. Specifically, what Paul showed
- 1:47with Gemini Notebook was mindblowing to
- 1:50me. It literally changed the way that I
- 1:53do research and preparation for
- 1:54episodes. And so, you know what? I'm not
- 1:56going to say anything more. Let's just
- 1:58get into the conversation. You're
- 2:00listening to the Callum Johnson show
- 2:02with Paul Lipky. I've seen so many
- 2:04videos online about Claude and Chachi
- 2:07PT, but one of the unique things for you
- 2:10is that a lot of your most popular
- 2:12videos are actually about Google's AI
- 2:14tools.
- 2:16And so if someone has clicked on this
- 2:18video and they've never used any of
- 2:19those tools, what will be the value to
- 2:22them and in their lives and in their
- 2:24businesses
- 2:26of learning about those tools? I think
- 2:29people are going to be pretty surprised
- 2:30at what Google has to offer because it
- 2:33really
- 2:35um spreads across the entire spectrum.
- 2:37You can start as a complete beginner
- 2:39with their tools and get a ton of value
- 2:41out of them and have a lot of fun using
- 2:42them too. But even for the more advanced
- 2:45users, you can do a whole lot with the
- 2:48Google AI suite of products that they
- 2:51have. And I think one thing that makes
- 2:52it so unique is that it does encapsulate
- 2:55so many different tools that you get
- 2:57access to through Google AI. It's pretty
- 2:59neat.
- 3:00>> Yeah. you know, one of the I think your
- 3:03background is so interesting, Paul, and
- 3:05one of the things cuz we spoke before
- 3:07this and one of the things that you
- 3:08mentioned um and it's also in your
- 3:10YouTube bio is you say, "Unlike a lot of
- 3:13other YouTubers who talk about AI, I'm
- 3:16not a programmer or a coder. I'm just a
- 3:19regular guy who likes to use AI in my
- 3:22personal life and to streamline my
- 3:24businesses."
- 3:26And so I'm curious for you to kind of
- 3:27like take us back in time for a second
- 3:30and talk to us about being a regular
- 3:33guy, but also what is that first moment
- 3:37like that light bulb moment when you use
- 3:40AI and you see the power of this
- 3:42technology for the first time?
- 3:44>> Yeah. Yeah. So um quick background on
- 3:48me. I had a pretty ordinary kind of uh
- 3:51career path at first. And I went
- 3:54actually went to law school as a lawyer
- 3:55for a while, but I wasn't really happy
- 3:57doing that. And so I started this side
- 3:59gig selling some stuff on eBay and it
- 4:01actually took off. I ended up doing more
- 4:04making more money from that than being a
- 4:06lawyer. So I went full-time with that.
- 4:08Started documenting what I was doing on
- 4:10YouTube. And so that's where I got
- 4:12started on YouTube was was telling
- 4:14people about eBay and Amazon and
- 4:17Facebook Marketplace and these other
- 4:18places I was selling. And then somewhere
- 4:21around 2025 that year, I noticed this
- 4:24big shift where the AI tools that were
- 4:27out there. I tried them before and
- 4:29honestly I wasn't very impressed with
- 4:30them at all. But in 2025, there was a
- 4:33big shift and suddenly the tools became
- 4:35a lot more accessible and helpful for
- 4:39people like me who doesn't have a
- 4:41background in coding, isn't a developer,
- 4:43and just wants help with like at that
- 4:45time it was just like my emails and my
- 4:47sales copy that I wanted help with. And
- 4:49so I think it was probably around spring
- 4:512025. I signed up for Claude. I paid the
- 4:54$20 for it and I was blown away. I was
- 4:58like, "This is incredible what it's able
- 5:00to do, how it's able to help me organize
- 5:02all of my projects and write sales copy
- 5:05for me." I was completely blown away.
- 5:08And then from that point on, I pretty
- 5:10much went all in with it because I
- 5:11really saw like if this is just the
- 5:13beginning of what we're experiencing,
- 5:15this has huge, huge potential.
- 5:17>> Yeah. You know, I I actually think it's
- 5:19so uh relatable, especially for people
- 5:22right now. Like I think I think to
- 5:23myself that a lot of people are going
- 5:25through that moment right now,
- 5:27specifically with Claude, of like that
- 5:30shift of seeing what's possible and how
- 5:32it can help you not only in your life,
- 5:34but like business career.
- 5:38Talk to me specifically about the Google
- 5:41AI tools and and when did those come
- 5:43into the picture? Because a lot of
- 5:45people it's like it starts with chatgpt
- 5:48or claude and it hasn't even gone past
- 5:51that like what even made you curious
- 5:54about understanding what Google was
- 5:56doing in the AI space.
- 5:58>> So I do feel like Google was a little
- 6:00bit late. I think they were kind of
- 6:02caught off guard by how quickly Chat GBT
- 6:05and Claude kind of took off. But once
- 6:08they figured it out, they had a huge
- 6:10advantage because we already use so many
- 6:13Google products, search, Gmail,
- 6:16calendar, and or drive. And what's
- 6:20awesome about what Google's doing is
- 6:22that they are bringing AI into the
- 6:24products that we already use. And so the
- 6:28integration with AI into them and
- 6:31between those different products is so
- 6:33seamless in a way that really no one
- 6:35else can do it. And so when I saw them
- 6:38start to roll it out, I got really
- 6:40excited because I don't want to have to
- 6:43redo everything I I've set up in my
- 6:46business, you know, find a new email
- 6:47provider and set up a new calendar. I
- 6:50want to use the tools I already love.
- 6:52And the fact that Google can now
- 6:53integrate with all that and and connect
- 6:56it all with AI is pretty incredible. And
- 6:58I think that's where people are going to
- 6:59see a lot of value out of it.
- 7:01>> Yeah. you know, and and it's an
- 7:03interesting point that you bring up
- 7:05because Google should naturally have an
- 7:08advantage in this space. Like we we're
- 7:10already so aware of them. They're
- 7:11already so in our lives even without us
- 7:14really knowing.
- 7:17Why do you think
- 7:19because for most people if you look at
- 7:20the data when it comes to AI the
- 7:22majority of Americans have used chat GPT
- 7:26in second in kind of like a smaller way
- 7:28people have used Claude. Why do you
- 7:31think that chat GPT and Claude demon
- 7:35like dominate so much of the
- 7:37conversation and then when we go to
- 7:39Gemini or like the Google suite of
- 7:41tools, it's not as ubiquitous. It's not
- 7:44as known.
- 7:45>> Well, I think they are catching up or at
- 7:47least or at least pulling in more of the
- 7:49market than they've had in the past. But
- 7:52I think a lot of it just comes down to
- 7:54that like first tomarket bias. You know,
- 7:57the word chat GBT, it's almost
- 7:59synonymous now with AI. And people say,
- 8:02"Let me ask chat for that." That's what
- 8:04I'm hearing young people say now. And
- 8:06I'm not 100% sure if that applies just
- 8:08to chat GBT or like all of them. Kind of
- 8:10like when we say, "Let's xerox
- 8:12something, right?" But I think it's a
- 8:14lot of it is that it's just when people
- 8:16think of AI, they think of chat GBT. But
- 8:19I think once people realize that there
- 8:21are other tools and start to test them,
- 8:22they're going to find one that works
- 8:24better for them maybe than chat GBT.
- 8:26Yeah. You know, you know, one of the
- 8:28things that you mentioned uh earlier,
- 8:29Paul, you were talking about uh being
- 8:33like a regular guy and you have this uh
- 8:36job, you're a lawyer, like you're an
- 8:38attorney,
- 8:39>> and then within the space of a year or a
- 8:42couple of years, you're doing uh like
- 8:45e-commerce and drop shipping and now
- 8:47you're doing like content creation
- 8:49around AI.
- 8:51I think for a lot of people that are
- 8:52listening at home, that transition of
- 8:55going from like a nine-to-five employee
- 8:59to you're making a full-time living off
- 9:02the internet and online is like
- 9:05something that people aspire to. Can you
- 9:07kind of just map out like what were
- 9:10those kind of key points in that journey
- 9:14and then also how quickly it happened?
- 9:18Was that unexpected to you?
- 9:21Well, I'll answer that first that last
- 9:22part first. It was very unexpected. You
- 9:25know, I just didn't quite see it
- 9:26happening. But in many ways, I shouldn't
- 9:28be surprised because it was something
- 9:31that I'd been seeking for a while and
- 9:33something I really had my eye on. And I
- 9:36think I'll just say like very broadly
- 9:38speaking, if you want to, you know, quit
- 9:42your job and make money online to have
- 9:45that freedom to be able to like travel
- 9:47and not be tied down to one location.
- 9:50There's always opportunities for that
- 9:51and I think AI is opening up a ton of
- 9:54possibilities for that. It's just kind
- 9:56of being creative and seeing what's
- 9:58available and taking advantage of that.
- 10:01And that's what I saw in 2017 when I got
- 10:03started with with e-commerce.
- 10:06I tried some other stuff in the past,
- 10:08some some other e-commerce things. It
- 10:10didn't work out for me. And I saw some
- 10:12people doing this thing drop shipping on
- 10:14eBay and I gave it a shot. And once I
- 10:17saw that it worked, I was like, "Okay,
- 10:19I'm going all in with this because, you
- 10:22know, I don't want to um, you know, play
- 10:25around with other stuff. Like if I find
- 10:26something that works, go all in with
- 10:28it." I think that's part of the success
- 10:29is just kind of knowing that like when
- 10:31you see something that works, you got to
- 10:33go for it 100% because you don't know
- 10:34how long it's going to work for, right?
- 10:37So, that was like a very key moment like
- 10:39when I made my first sale and just
- 10:40started working a lot more with eBay.
- 10:43Um, and then certainly starting my
- 10:45YouTube channel to be able to share and
- 10:46document what I was doing was really
- 10:48important because then as I pivoted over
- 10:51the years, you know, moving to Amazon,
- 10:53Facebook, Tik Tok, people were following
- 10:55me and coming with me on that journey.
- 10:58And now that I've transitioned to uh AI,
- 11:00people are coming along for that as
- 11:02well. So, it's pretty cool to see.
- 11:03>> Yeah. You know, you talk about I and I
- 11:05think about it even in my own story,
- 11:07that first moment of validation cuz we
- 11:10we start out online and you're you're
- 11:11kind of just trying something, you know,
- 11:13like you've maybe you've seen someone's
- 11:14video or you've read something, you've
- 11:16kind of seen that it's possible, but
- 11:18until you experience it. And so I'm
- 11:21curious for you to talk about almost
- 11:23like that that first moment of of real
- 11:26validation, like significant validation,
- 11:29whether it was like a dollar amount that
- 11:30you were seeing in your bank account,
- 11:32but like for you when you look back,
- 11:35what was that moment when you were like,
- 11:37"Okay, this could actually be a
- 11:39full-time thing. It's not just like a
- 11:41fun side hustle or like weekend project.
- 11:44Like I could actually do this."
- 11:46>> Okay, I've never shared this before, so
- 11:48I'm going to share it with you now. you
- 11:50pulled it out of me. So yeah, so 2017
- 11:54was the year I was growing that eBay
- 11:56business and it by the middle of the
- 11:59year it was doing quite well, but it was
- 12:01always sort of that feeling of is this
- 12:02going to last? Like is this thing just
- 12:04going to topple in a couple of months or
- 12:07is this thing even really serious? And
- 12:09then early 2018 I had one month where I
- 12:14made more in one month than I was making
- 12:16all year as a lawyer. And that was kind
- 12:19of like a moment where I was like,
- 12:21"Yeah, I should quit my job now. This is
- 12:24this is this is working. There's
- 12:25something here." And so that's when I
- 12:28decided to actually quit my job and go
- 12:30allin with the e-commerce and kind of
- 12:33have this uh YouTube channel on the side
- 12:35with it.
- 12:36>> Yeah. You know, it's um it's interesting
- 12:38because you mentioned that speaking
- 12:40today in 2026,
- 12:43there's even like more of an opportunity
- 12:45for that route, for that transition from
- 12:47like 9 to5 to either being like a
- 12:50soloreneur or like building a business
- 12:53um specifically because of AI. And I
- 12:55know that you and I, we were speaking
- 12:57about this um even before we had the
- 13:00conversation and like we turned the
- 13:02cameras on and you said this, you go, "A
- 13:04lot of people just don't know what they
- 13:06can do with AI." That's sort of the
- 13:09biggest roadblock right now that people
- 13:11know it exists. They know it's useful,
- 13:14but what do you use it for? That's where
- 13:17most people are getting stuck with it.
- 13:20And so Paul, speaking specifically on
- 13:23these Google tools, because I know we're
- 13:25going to go through a few of them, can
- 13:27you just big picture just give people
- 13:30the background and the context for these
- 13:33specific tools? So like Gemini, Notebook
- 13:37LM, the Google AI studios, what can they
- 13:41use it for?
- 13:43Okay, so if you're someone who always
- 13:44has good ideas for the company that you
- 13:46work for or maybe even for your own
- 13:48business, I'm going to share something
- 13:50that you're going to love. And so this
- 13:52is an episode marketing plan that I
- 13:54created with Gamma and then I presented
- 13:56it to our team. And so to give you guys
- 13:58the context, the reason I created this
- 14:01presentation was because I recently came
- 14:03up with a new way that I wanted us to
- 14:05promote each episode on social media.
- 14:08And I'm not a designer. And so what I
- 14:10would usually do is I would take all of
- 14:11the rough notes that I had for this
- 14:13strategy. I would try to organize it and
- 14:15flesh out the ideas on a Google
- 14:17document. Then I would have to format
- 14:19the document so that it looks half
- 14:21decent. And then I would send that
- 14:22document to my team and walk them
- 14:25through it step by step in our next
- 14:27meeting. And that entire process would
- 14:29take anywhere from a few hours to maybe
- 14:32even up to half a day of work. But with
- 14:35Gamma, I was able to just select this
- 14:37template that they have, paste in all of
- 14:40my rough bullet point notes, hit
- 14:42generate, and then get this beautiful
- 14:45looking presentation in 15 minutes. And
- 14:48the best part was just how easy it was
- 14:51to then change the designs and the
- 14:53images on the presentation. I just click
- 14:55on the gamma agent here and tell it all
- 14:57of the changes that I want to make and
- 14:59it did it for me. And so if you're
- 15:01listening at home and you want to create
- 15:03beautiful looking presentations in
- 15:06minutes, just go to that link in the
- 15:08description, try out Gamma today. Trust
- 15:10me, you won't regret it. Thank you to
- 15:13Gamma for sponsoring this episode. Let's
- 15:15get back to it.
- 15:16>> Yeah. Well, first I'll say that is the
- 15:19value gap right there, right? Because so
- 15:21many people, businesses, business
- 15:23owners, they don't know how to use these
- 15:25tools. And if you can come in and figure
- 15:28that out, then you can be the person
- 15:31they go to. Some of these tools I'm
- 15:33going to show you are really easy to
- 15:34use, but people don't figure them out.
- 15:37They're not going to spend the time to
- 15:38figure them out. And so, you can be that
- 15:40person for these companies. So, I think
- 15:42there's actually a really big
- 15:43opportunity right now. Uh especially for
- 15:46businesses owned by older people who
- 15:47just don't think they can figure it out.
- 15:49But the trick is that you can't let them
- 15:52know how easy it actually is. Um, yeah.
- 15:56So, I'm going to show you some some of
- 15:57these really cool tools. I think you
- 15:58know when people think about chat GBT,
- 16:01right? So, Google has their own version
- 16:03of it. It's called Gemini. That's their
- 16:05chatbot. So, a lot of stuff that you
- 16:07know you can do with Chat GBT, you can
- 16:09do with Gemini as well. But with a
- 16:13Google AI uh account, which is just your
- 16:16your Google account, you also get access
- 16:18to all these other tools. And one of my
- 16:20favorites is Notebook LM. That's an
- 16:22incredible tool for research and for
- 16:26organizing data. And once you sort of
- 16:29graduate from those tools and want
- 16:31something a little bit more advanced
- 16:33that comes with Google as well. They
- 16:35have something called Google AI Studio
- 16:37which is used for like building out
- 16:39apps, building out websites. So there's
- 16:42a lot you can do with all of these
- 16:44tools.
- 16:45>> Yeah. It's actually interesting because
- 16:47um I was thinking about this on the way
- 16:49here that before you and I spoke in the
- 16:52conversation that we had about a week
- 16:53ago, I wasn't actually fully aware that
- 16:56all of these tools within Google even
- 16:58existed. Like I was familiar with Gemini
- 17:02and we've even seen it recently like
- 17:04even when you do searches on Google,
- 17:07it's now using AI. I don't even know if
- 17:09it's using Gemini, but it's using AI to
- 17:11give you search results. Um,
- 17:15can you kind of just speak to even just
- 17:18for the everyday person that's using G
- 17:20Suite right now, some of those kind of
- 17:24AI opportunities almost like the the
- 17:27hidden abilities that some of these G
- 17:30Suite tools or G Suite applications now
- 17:33have using AI and Gemini? Can you speak
- 17:36to that?
- 17:37>> Yeah. Yeah. So, Google has put Gemini
- 17:41everywhere. So search is powered by
- 17:43Gemini. Um and Gmail. So you go into
- 17:47Gmail and now at the top the search bar
- 17:51that is powered by Gemini. Yeah. So
- 17:53inside of Gmail at the top like there's
- 17:55search now it's powered by Gemini. And
- 17:58that's great because I don't know if
- 18:00you've tried the search inside Gmail in
- 18:01the past, but it was pretty bad. So now
- 18:03you can actually ask questions like uh
- 18:06what time was my is my podcast recording
- 18:09today? And it's not just going to give
- 18:11me the email that has the information.
- 18:13It's actually going to answer it right
- 18:15there at the top for me. You need help
- 18:16writing an email, you just open up an
- 18:19email that you got, hit reply, and it
- 18:20can help you draft an email. I don't
- 18:22write emails anymore. I just type into
- 18:24the little bar at the bottom what I want
- 18:26to say, like just garbled, and it just
- 18:29outputs for me a perfectly formatted
- 18:32email. So, I've gotten really lazy with
- 18:34my emails because of that. Um, Google
- 18:37Sheets has some great tools as well to
- 18:39help you visualize data. It's just
- 18:41everywhere and it just makes it so much
- 18:43easier to use it because it's where you
- 18:47already are.
- 18:48>> Yeah. You know what? You know, Paul,
- 18:49because this is like exciting cuz I
- 18:51think we're going to uh, of course,
- 18:53we're going to show people that want to
- 18:55build businesses or solopreneurs some
- 18:58applications for these tools that they
- 19:00could be helpful in their workflows, but
- 19:03even just for everyday usage, I'm like
- 19:07curious and excited to show people how
- 19:09they could be getting more uh from their
- 19:11Gmail, from their Google Drive, from
- 19:13their Google Sheets. Um, so why don't
- 19:16you just share your screen and we'll
- 19:17jump into it. This is Gemini. Yeah, this
- 19:19is Gemini. So, this is like the chat GBT
- 19:23for Google. So, if you've used chat GBT,
- 19:26anything that you use that for, you
- 19:27know, asking questions, you can come in
- 19:29here and just ask the questions in here.
- 19:33What is the weather today? You know,
- 19:34whatever it is, it's going to behave
- 19:36very similar to chat GBT. So, if you're
- 19:40using an AI chatbot already, you're
- 19:42going to just be able to do the same
- 19:44thing inside of Gemini. So, one thing
- 19:46that's unique to Gemini is I can create
- 19:48music for you. So, you can just kind of
- 19:51put in here what you want the song to be
- 19:53about and then it generates a
- 19:54soundtrack.
- 19:58[music and singing]
- 19:59>> So, that's just a quick sample of it.
- 20:01And you can create like in all these
- 20:03different styles. So, if I come in here
- 20:05and click create music, you have like
- 20:06all these different styles. And, you
- 20:08know, it's not going to win any awards,
- 20:09but it's a lot of fun to play around
- 20:11with, right? You can create images with
- 20:14it similar to what you do with chat GBT
- 20:17and it's really good at editing images.
- 20:19So here I had it create this one for me
- 20:21and I didn't like that there were people
- 20:22in the background. So I said here remove
- 20:24the people from the background. Now we
- 20:26have the same exact image but without
- 20:28people in the background. So it's very
- 20:29good at image generation. It's also very
- 20:32good at video generation. So oh this is
- 20:35a where the video goes? Sorry. Yeah. So
- 20:37I have like a video here and they have
- 20:39something called avatars. So when you
- 20:42set this up for the first time, you scan
- 20:43your face and then you have a digital
- 20:46avatar of yourself that you can use for
- 20:48any video.
- 20:51I have to tell you about Google Gemini.
- 20:53It's their most capable AI model ever.
- 20:56It understands text, images, and even
- 20:58code seamlessly. This is a total game
- 21:00changer.
- 21:00>> So pretty good, right? So those are kind
- 21:02of like some of the unique fun things
- 21:04you can do with it.
- 21:04>> Just one quick thing on the video piece
- 21:06cuz that's very cool. So it scans your
- 21:08face. That video that you just played,
- 21:11you never recorded that?
- 21:13>> No. No. That came from one from one scan
- 21:17of my face that I did three or two or
- 21:19three months ago.
- 21:20>> Interesting. And the and the different
- 21:21angles cuz it it the the camera shifted.
- 21:24It was showing different angles of you.
- 21:25That was also it just came up with that.
- 21:29>> Yeah. I mean, you can get very specific
- 21:30with your pumps. This one I literally
- 21:32just said, make a video about from of
- 21:35me. that's my avatar's name telling us
- 21:37about how awesome Google Gemini is.
- 21:39That's it. But you can get very specific
- 21:41with it and tell it to like change your
- 21:43clothes, change the background, and it
- 21:45can do all that stuff.
- 21:46>> Interesting. And then when it comes to
- 21:47your voice, it also has your it has your
- 21:50voice like saved.
- 21:52>> Yeah. It's pretty wild, right?
- 21:55So, when you're setting it up, you're
- 21:57like moving your face around and you're
- 21:59also talking to it and so it's capturing
- 22:02all of that and then duplicating. And
- 22:03that's totally optional. I know some
- 22:05people aren't comfortable with that. So,
- 22:06you don't have to use it.
- 22:07>> Yeah. But it's one of the things cuz I I
- 22:08even think about it in like a business
- 22:10use case. And I think about if you
- 22:11wanted to do like explainer videos or if
- 22:14you wanted to do ads, you know, where
- 22:16you're speaking to something or even
- 22:17like content like talking head videos
- 22:20but you didn't have time to film it or
- 22:22you didn't have the right setup. It's
- 22:24like you can the the use cases kind of
- 22:26jump out.
- 22:27>> Yeah. Yeah. And we're going to get to
- 22:28that because you were going to we have
- 22:29some other tools that's going to that
- 22:30are going to help with that as well.
- 22:32>> Yeah. Yeah. That's super cool.
- 22:34Yeah. Um, yeah. So, a lot of cool stuff
- 22:37with the images and the videos. It's
- 22:39also really good at creating
- 22:40infographics where you have text on
- 22:42images like this. So, those are kind of
- 22:45the like I wouldn't even call them
- 22:47basic, but you can come in here and kind
- 22:49of see just create image, create video,
- 22:51create music. So, it's right there
- 22:53available for you.
- 22:56>> Yeah. You know what? So, so I have I
- 22:58have two questions. I I'll start with
- 22:59the first one on the image creation
- 23:02piece cuz I know Google obviously has
- 23:04Nano Banana. Is that like just
- 23:07seamlessly integrated in? Is that what's
- 23:09creating the images or is this actually
- 23:11like a natively built feature within
- 23:15Gemini?
- 23:16Now this is this is uh the latest Nano
- 23:19Banana. So right now when we're filming
- 23:21this, we have Nano Banana 2. So this is
- 23:23using Nano Banana 2. The uh the other
- 23:26images we're creating Nano Banana 2. I
- 23:28lost them. But whatever, wherever they
- 23:30are, that was using Nano Banana 2. Uh,
- 23:32so it's built in. You don't have to
- 23:33worry about like API. You shouldn't just
- 23:36tell it what image you want to create
- 23:38and it's going to create it for you.
- 23:39>> Yeah, that's interesting. You know what,
- 23:41Paul? Cuz I think this is going to be
- 23:42really valuable to people is if I just
- 23:46take myself for a second, right? Cuz I I
- 23:49use G Suite. Like I have a Gmail, I use
- 23:51Google Drive, I use Google Sheets, I use
- 23:53Google documents. But I think that even
- 23:57I use those every day, but I'm not
- 23:59really using the AI features within it
- 24:02at all. If someone and even just for
- 24:05someone like me,
- 24:08what would you say is like the the
- 24:11single almost like first thing to do or
- 24:13like most useful thing I could do with
- 24:16using AI within those tools? like what
- 24:20instantly comes to mind do you think
- 24:22would be valuable or the most valuable
- 24:25to people?
- 24:27>> Yeah, so I mentioned it before, but
- 24:29honestly the integration with Gmail is
- 24:31is fantastic. I can't show my Gmail
- 24:33because it's my Gmail has like all my
- 24:36personal stuff in there, but it's so so
- 24:39nice just using it to help you compose
- 24:41emails. Um, the other thing is because
- 24:46this is Google, you can come in here and
- 24:48just ask Gemini, "What are my latest
- 24:50emails?" And as long as it's the same
- 24:53account that you use for Gmail, it's
- 24:56going to be able to pull in your emails.
- 24:57It can help you answer the emails right
- 24:59here from the chat. So, all of that's
- 25:01good. Google Drive has some pretty
- 25:03interesting stuff as well. This is just
- 25:04like a quick example. Imagine you're
- 25:07like a footwear brand or you're looking
- 25:09to start one and you just wanted to do
- 25:10some research on the other competition
- 25:13out there. So, I just asked Gemini to do
- 25:18some research on what the footwear
- 25:20market is like from the Gemini app and
- 25:22it created for me this spreadsheet here
- 25:24here with all this data on the different
- 25:27brands, where they're located, the CEOs,
- 25:29and the company revenue. So, all of
- 25:32that's brought over into here by Gemini.
- 25:35And then from here if you want to you
- 25:38can click on Gemini on the right and
- 25:40then you can you can ask it to to make
- 25:43changes here and do things. So I can say
- 25:45something like uh you know sum it all
- 25:48up. I don't know. It's like a very silly
- 25:50example but then it'll sum it all up. Um
- 25:53you can ask it to make changes to it.
- 25:55But my favorite tool trying to remember
- 25:57where it is. It's right
- 25:59um yeah down here you can click on
- 26:01create a canvas.
- 26:03Oh I have this up. That's why. Let me
- 26:06try it again. Create a canvas
- 26:10and then Oh yeah, there it is. Sorry
- 26:11about that. So over here on the right on
- 26:13the dropdown, it's here. It's called
- 26:14canvas. And then we can say turn this
- 26:17into a visual
- 26:20that I can look at. Something like that.
- 26:24Um it's going to take a minute, but it's
- 26:25going to turn all this data into a more
- 26:27visual dashboard that's easier to look
- 26:30at. So we got to give it a minute to do
- 26:32that, though.
- 26:33>> Yeah. I'm I'm curious for you because
- 26:35you've been you've been using these
- 26:37tools for months. Are you getting to the
- 26:40point now where like even working within
- 26:42a Google document or working within a
- 26:45spreadsheet, you're not really doing any
- 26:47like manual data entry? Like you're not
- 26:50really just typing things in. You're
- 26:52just speaking to the AI and it's doing
- 26:55the work. Like how are you interfacing
- 26:57with it?
- 26:58>> Literally speaking to it. Literally
- 27:00speaking to it. So, I use one of those
- 27:01like voice dictation apps if you're
- 27:03familiar with those.
- 27:04>> Like Whisper Flow. Yeah, I do the same
- 27:05thing.
- 27:06>> Whisper Flow is the one I use. And so,
- 27:08like for Gemini, I'll just come over to
- 27:11Gemini and you know, they have a voice
- 27:13dictation button. So, if you don't have
- 27:15one, you could just click on this button
- 27:16right here, talk to it, and then it will
- 27:20send off that prompt and start working
- 27:21on it. And then inside of Google Drive,
- 27:24if I start a new document here, then
- 27:28down here at the bottom, we have write
- 27:30with Gemini. So I'll tell it, yeah, I'm
- 27:31putting together an outline for a video
- 27:34I'm working on. Can you go out and do
- 27:36the research for me? Pull it in. And so
- 27:38I have like the first draft ready to go.
- 27:42And by the way, this is that dashboard I
- 27:44was talking about. So it took all that
- 27:45data and just kind of put into this nice
- 27:47looking dashboard here.
- 27:48>> Yeah, that's nice.
- 27:50That's nice. And I guess you could go
- 27:51back to it and you could make like
- 27:52changes if you wanted different
- 27:55>> Yeah, you could just click on view data
- 27:57here to go back to the data or Yeah, you
- 27:59just tell it in the chat, you know, I
- 28:00don't like these colors. I want a
- 28:02different kind of graph. It will make
- 28:03all those changes.
- 28:04>> Yeah. You know, one one more question
- 28:06because I I know we're going to go to um
- 28:09Notebook LM is
- 28:12when you're um that feature within Gmail
- 28:16cuz I think that's something that people
- 28:18are going to use like probably straight
- 28:19away after watching this honestly and
- 28:22I'm going to use it when you're asking
- 28:24it. You cuz you mentioned you don't
- 28:26actually draft emails anymore.
- 28:28>> It's the it's the AI. Does that mean it
- 28:31actually has context I guess on like how
- 28:35you like to write emails, the structure
- 28:38kind of like your tone of voice, the
- 28:40language that you use? Like how good is
- 28:42that piece of it?
- 28:44Really good. Really good. So now when I
- 28:47open up my Gmail, again, I really wish I
- 28:48could show this to you, but when I open
- 28:50up my Gmail, it actually pre-drafts the
- 28:54emails for me. Not for all of them, but
- 28:56for a lot of them. And so I get a lot of
- 28:59emails from brands who want to like
- 29:01sponsor videos on my channel and it
- 29:03understands it. I didn't I never told it
- 29:06I never told Gemini what my rates are
- 29:07for videos, but when I open up the
- 29:10drafts it's in there because I've
- 29:11already sent emails to other brands with
- 29:14my rates. So it's already in there. And
- 29:17uh yeah, so like stuff like that. It's
- 29:20just it just it learns the more that you
- 29:23use it
- 29:23>> and it knows that what from just like
- 29:26viewing your email inbox or is that
- 29:28something that you've actually trained
- 29:29it to do?
- 29:31>> Let me pop in the Gemini cuz I want to
- 29:32show you this. So personal intelligence
- 29:35connects up all of your Google products.
- 29:38You come into Google uh connected apps
- 29:39right here. So we have Gmail, Google
- 29:42Docs, Keep Drive, Calendar, Google
- 29:45Tasks. So, what that does is it's
- 29:47pulling in context from all of those
- 29:50apps. So, if I were to ask chat um tell
- 29:54me about my or what when is my flight
- 29:57next month, it's going to look through
- 30:00Gmail for emails from from uh airlines
- 30:05and it'll say, "Oh, this is when your
- 30:07flight is next month." Or if I say, "Put
- 30:09together an itinerary for the trip I'm
- 30:12taking next month." It's going to pull
- 30:13in from multiple Gmail accounts. It's
- 30:15going to look at my calendar. It's going
- 30:16to look at maybe I have a Google doc
- 30:18where I've already started planning out
- 30:20the trip and it's going to pull all of
- 30:22that together just sort of magically in
- 30:25the background.
- 30:26>> Yeah. You know what, Paul, before we um
- 30:29It's funny because you mentioned uh like
- 30:31the the biggest roadblock we we spoke
- 30:33about this earlier, the biggest
- 30:34roadblock when it comes to using AI is
- 30:36people don't know what to use it for.
- 30:38And it's like there was so many of these
- 30:41features. I just didn't even really know
- 30:43that Google could do it and I already am
- 30:46using G Suite. So, it's just
- 30:47interesting. You know, one thing before
- 30:49we go into Notebook LM, um
- 30:54I know right now with with Claude and
- 30:57with ChatGpt, we're in a very
- 30:59interesting time, right? Like, uh Fable
- 31:03obviously came out recently, got banned,
- 31:06and then has been released again. And
- 31:08then even with ChatGpt, uh 5.6 six uh
- 31:12will be hitting the market soon.
- 31:14Probably when people have watched this,
- 31:15it'll probably would have hit the
- 31:16market. Can you just talk about what
- 31:19have you seen as the differences
- 31:22um between like Gemini's models and what
- 31:26it's capable of versus obviously Fable
- 31:30seems to have taken things to a new
- 31:31level and then we'll see what GPT 5.6
- 31:35does like is it comparable?
- 31:38>> Yeah, it's a good question. So,
- 31:41uh, Fable and we don't I don't have
- 31:44Access 5.6. We're recording this. It's
- 31:46coming out literally tomorrow. So, I'll
- 31:48know better tomorrow. But it does seem
- 31:50like it's going to be like those two are
- 31:51going to be the the best models in the
- 31:53world. Better than what Gemini currently
- 31:56has out. But Google has this tendency to
- 32:00really cook in the background for a
- 32:02while when it comes to models. Their
- 32:04newest model is rumored to come out
- 32:07soon. I I don't know when it's going to
- 32:09come out, but the rumors are it's
- 32:11supposed to be very good and supposed to
- 32:13be a big jump up. Now, in general
- 32:16though, what I will say is that if you
- 32:18start looking on X or even a lot of
- 32:20other YouTubers, they are going to
- 32:23obsess over what is the best model out
- 32:26there. But the truth is for most people
- 32:30doing knowledge work, so things like
- 32:32emails, document writing, research, just
- 32:35everyday tasks, it's not going to make a
- 32:38huge difference which model you use. You
- 32:40may not notice a difference at all. So I
- 32:44like to focus a lot more on the tools
- 32:47themselves and the capabilities of them
- 32:49and just which one feels right for you,
- 32:52which one has the features that you
- 32:53want. Um, of course they all have their
- 32:56strengths and weaknesses and I think
- 32:59that for Gemini, some of those strengths
- 33:01are image generation is very good. Um,
- 33:04it's not quite as good as what Chat GPT
- 33:06has, but it but is still very very good
- 33:09and especially for creating infographics
- 33:11like this. It is one of the few tools
- 33:14that you can generate videos with. You
- 33:16can't do that with Claude. You can't do
- 33:18that with Chat GBT anymore, but Gemini
- 33:20does create videos and it does it very
- 33:22well. This new model that I showed you
- 33:24before is excellent. It's very good at
- 33:26research. It has a huge context window
- 33:29and I've heard that the new model is
- 33:31going to have even a double of that
- 33:33context window. So, it does have a lot
- 33:35of strengths and and then uh Yeah. And
- 33:37then just how it integrates with
- 33:39everything I think is another strength
- 33:40of it.
- 33:41>> Yeah. You know what? Just quickly on the
- 33:43on the context window point because I
- 33:45think that's actually heavily
- 33:47underrated. like we don't think about
- 33:49that. And it's funny because we had a I
- 33:51had a conversation uh on this show with
- 33:54uh Matt Wolf a year ago who's like
- 33:57another creator on YouTube. And this was
- 34:00in 2025, but at the time he was talking
- 34:03about like the the massive context
- 34:05window that Gemini has. and he said that
- 34:09uh I use Gemini if I need to understand
- 34:11a massive research paper or a YouTube
- 34:14keynote or I'll put in a three-hour
- 34:17transcript that I want broken into
- 34:19bullet points. Can you talk for a second
- 34:22from your vantage point some of the use
- 34:25cases of that massive context window and
- 34:27the deep research like what's the value
- 34:30of that to people?
- 34:32Yeah. So, I think all of those use cases
- 34:35that you just mentioned are spoton. Um,
- 34:39it's just anything where you just have
- 34:41so much data that you have to throw at
- 34:43it. So, think you're a student and you
- 34:46just have lots of notes from your
- 34:49semester that you have to study. You can
- 34:51dump them all into Gemini or Notebook LM
- 34:54and it's going it's going to be able to
- 34:55see all of that and actually use it in a
- 34:58helpful way for you. Um, I could see a
- 35:01lot of I know a lot of people in
- 35:03academia use it. A lot of researchers
- 35:06use it just because it it because the
- 35:08context window is so big.
- 35:10>> Yeah. You know what, Paul, because um
- 35:14it's funny because I mentioned this in
- 35:15the beginning. One of the most popular
- 35:18videos on your channel, I think it's the
- 35:19second most popular video on your
- 35:21channel. Nearly half a million people
- 35:23have watched it is on notebook LM which
- 35:26would be like so unexpected because I
- 35:28think a lot of people haven't even heard
- 35:29of Notebook LM. And so if you take us to
- 35:32that moment first of all what inspires
- 35:35you to create that video on Notebook LM
- 35:40and then why do you believe that it's so
- 35:42popular?
- 35:44>> Yeah. Um good question. You know, this
- 35:48notebook, I first heard about it last
- 35:51year, maybe fall of 2025,
- 35:54and I was skeptical of it at first. I
- 35:57was like, why do we need this when we
- 35:58already have Gemini, right?
- 36:00[clears throat] Seems to do a lot of the
- 36:02same stuff. But then I used it and I was
- 36:04like, "Oh my gosh, this is really cool.
- 36:08It's not only an incredibly useful tool,
- 36:11but it is so fun to use." And I think
- 36:15that's what really inspired me was not
- 36:17just the usefulness of it because but it
- 36:19was I just want to show people this.
- 36:21This is so much fun to use. It is so
- 36:24cool. So that's where that video came
- 36:26from basically.
- 36:27>> Yeah. You know, if if if someone wanted
- 36:29to and and let's just get into it. U cuz
- 36:32I love your reaction to it. If someone
- 36:34wanted to have that feeling of like,
- 36:36wow, this is so cool. What's the first
- 36:39thing that you would have them do when
- 36:40they open Notebook LM? Okay, so you need
- 36:44to come into Notebook LM and right here
- 36:46is this button that says create new
- 36:48notebook. I already have a bunch of
- 36:49notebooks in this account, but we're
- 36:51going to ignore those for a second. You
- 36:52want to come in here and click on create
- 36:54notebook. And the first thing it's going
- 36:56to ask you to do is to add some sources.
- 37:00This is where Notebook LM is incredibly
- 37:03powerful because you're going to be able
- 37:06to upload or put in here sources that
- 37:09include like any files you want to
- 37:10upload. You can do that. You can add any
- 37:13links to websites or YouTube videos. You
- 37:16can add things from Google Drive or you
- 37:17can just copy and paste text. And when
- 37:20you do that, you're going to have all of
- 37:21your sources over here on the left. You
- 37:23can see I have YouTube videos, articles
- 37:25in here, something I've uploaded. And
- 37:28what makes this so unique is that now we
- 37:32have created for us an environment here.
- 37:35We have a chat in the middle. We have
- 37:37this studio over here on the right. I'll
- 37:38show you in a second. And this entire
- 37:41workspace is grounded in these sources.
- 37:45What that means is that when you first
- 37:47add these sources, Gemini, the Gemini
- 37:51inside this notebook is looking at these
- 37:53website articles and pulling the text
- 37:55from them. It's looking at these YouTube
- 37:57videos and pulling the transcripts from
- 37:59them and it is creating its knowledge
- 38:03based on that and only on that. So in
- 38:06this case, this notebook is all about
- 38:08how to launch and scale an AI automation
- 38:11agency. I wanted to do some research on
- 38:13that. So there's so much information on
- 38:15the web about how to do that. But when I
- 38:18chat with Gemini here and ask it like
- 38:20how do I get started, it's not pulling
- 38:23from the web. It's pulling from these
- 38:26trusted sources I have over here on the
- 38:28left. That's what I mean when I say it's
- 38:30grounded. And that is incredibly
- 38:34valuable for a lot of different
- 38:36purposes. A lot of people know that AI
- 38:39can do this and you know they have to
- 38:40set it up on their own, but now they
- 38:42don't have to because Notebook LM can do
- 38:44it for them. It's it's really really
- 38:46helpful.
- 38:46>> Yeah. You know, let's let's let's go
- 38:48deeper there cuz I think this will be so
- 38:49valuable for someone listening at home,
- 38:52which is let's even take that example,
- 38:54right? someone's watching this and they
- 38:57want to build like um an AI automation
- 39:01agency or they want to be like um like
- 39:03an AI consultant in the way that you
- 39:05described earlier. I'm curious for you.
- 39:08So that's like the overarching topic and
- 39:10they want to use Notebook LM to almost
- 39:12become like an expert in that.
- 39:15What is your process or like the steps
- 39:18that you go through? Because I'm even
- 39:20thinking about how you're choosing like
- 39:23how you're identifying and then choosing
- 39:25the sources that you're then putting in
- 39:28your notebook. Like is that just a
- 39:30Google search and then you're pulling
- 39:31certain websites? Do you have like
- 39:33specific places that you go to? Like
- 39:36just take us behind the scenes of how
- 39:38you're even finding these sources and
- 39:40building out this notebook.
- 39:42>> I'm I'm smiling to myself because you
- 39:44are asking the right questions that most
- 39:46people don't think to ask, which I love.
- 39:49So when you're creating a new notebook,
- 39:51there are multiple ways you can you can
- 39:54bring in these sources that I showed you
- 39:56over here on the left. So the sort of
- 39:58lazy way and I I do use this lazy way
- 40:01when the topic is not like super
- 40:05important like I have a notebook here
- 40:06all about the science of sleep and so
- 40:09for me I just wanted some general
- 40:11information about how to sleep better.
- 40:14So for that, when you're creating this
- 40:16new notebook, you can use the research
- 40:18tool right in here. So I can say, how
- 40:22can I sleep better at night and send
- 40:26that along and it's actually going out
- 40:28and finding sources for me. And then
- 40:31once it finds those, I can approve them
- 40:33or deny them. So that's like s you see
- 40:36them all right here. So I can look at
- 40:38all of them and I can say, okay, I like
- 40:40this one. You can even open it up and
- 40:42check the source if you want. And let's
- 40:44say I don't like that one. So I wouldn't
- 40:45check that one off. Would check that one
- 40:47off. But I like the other ones. And then
- 40:49I can click on import. And those are
- 40:51being added to my notebook. So that's
- 40:54one way of doing it. But another way is
- 40:57I'll come up here. I'll create a new
- 40:58notebook. And this time you would
- 41:01actually go out and just put in the
- 41:03sources here that you actually trust. So
- 41:06for instance, I have a notebook. Where
- 41:08is it? right here where I grabbed the
- 41:11last maybe 15 of your last or 10 of your
- 41:14last videos and I put them in here
- 41:17because I want to be able to chat with
- 41:18this notebook about trending topics on
- 41:21AI. I kind of want to like stay up to
- 41:22date on that. So any every time I watch
- 41:25one of your videos now I throw it in
- 41:27here and that way in the future I can
- 41:30ask like what was that topic they were
- 41:32talking about um about Gemini and then
- 41:35over it'll pull that up and say oh that
- 41:37was the podcast with Paul and here is a
- 41:39link to it if you want to check it out.
- 41:41Here's what was said about it. And so
- 41:43with this method we're only putting in
- 41:45sources that we've already verified that
- 41:48we already trust. I've already watched
- 41:49these videos. I already know they're
- 41:51great. that's why I added them to this
- 41:53notebook. So, it's kind of however you
- 41:55want to do it. Certainly, this way where
- 41:58you verify it first and use sources that
- 42:01you actually trust is better, but for
- 42:04some quick stuff, you can just do the
- 42:06search and it's not a big deal.
- 42:08>> Yeah, that's fascinating. So, it's kind
- 42:10of like two ways. It's like one, you can
- 42:12actually it's natively built into the
- 42:15tool that it will help identify sources.
- 42:18you can then verify it and add in the
- 42:21ones that you want or you could just go
- 42:23and find each one specifically that you
- 42:26want and then only reference those. I
- 42:29think something that's fascinating
- 42:31though that I didn't clock the first
- 42:32time maybe you mentioned it is uh the
- 42:36YouTube videos. So, you're actually
- 42:38putting in YouTube videos, and I'm
- 42:41assuming because it's all on Google,
- 42:43because Google owns YouTube, they have
- 42:46like the the transcripts or whatever of
- 42:48these videos.
- 42:49>> Yep. Yeah. So, I can actually click on
- 42:51any of these and you see that here's
- 42:54your video. Here's um I think this is a
- 42:58transcript down here. And then up here
- 43:00is a sort of summary of it.
- 43:03>> Interesting. That's very interesting.
- 43:05So, is that is the reason that works
- 43:09kind of just a quick question. Does that
- 43:11work specifically for YouTube or I could
- 43:13also I'm assuming it only works for
- 43:15YouTube. I couldn't go to Instagram and
- 43:17put in a link or I couldn't go to Tik
- 43:20Tok or LinkedIn like would that also
- 43:24work for those platforms or is it
- 43:26specifically YouTube?
- 43:27>> You know, to be honest, I'm not 100%
- 43:29certain. I don't want to give wrong
- 43:30information. You know, just try it.
- 43:32Throw it in there. It might work. Um,
- 43:34I'm not certain about that because I
- 43:36spend all my time on YouTube, so that's
- 43:37the one that I always use.
- 43:39>> Yeah, I'm exactly the same way. I spend
- 43:41all my time on YouTube. It's like the
- 43:43new television.
- 43:45>> Um,
- 43:46>> okay, great. So, I understand the the
- 43:50data collection piece and I understand
- 43:53that the the like value prop for
- 43:56Notebook LM is the grounding. It's the
- 43:58fact that you can choose the sources
- 44:01when it comes to actually like digesting
- 44:04and consuming that information.
- 44:07Can you speak about that part of it?
- 44:10Because there's cool things that you can
- 44:11do, right, with like PDFs or it can
- 44:14teach you information or it can talk it
- 44:16out loud like can you explain what's
- 44:18possible there?
- 44:20>> Yeah, absolutely. And I would say that's
- 44:22this the second value prop of it is how
- 44:26you can then use that information. Uh
- 44:28the grounding is the first one like you
- 44:30said. So there's two sections here that
- 44:33we haven't covered. Well, we we cover
- 44:35this one a little bit. This is the chat.
- 44:37So here you can now chat with that
- 44:39information. So here I ask it how do I
- 44:41get started? Super vague question. If I
- 44:43asked Gemini, how do I get started? It
- 44:45would say how do you get started with
- 44:46what? But this is know looking at all
- 44:49these sources and it knows I want to
- 44:51start an AI automation agency. So it
- 44:53gives me a whole breakdown here based on
- 44:56these sources of how to start an AI
- 44:58agency. And you can go back and forth
- 45:00with it asking more questions like help
- 45:02me draft a personalized cold email
- 45:05script and you know just chat with it
- 45:08same way you would Gemini but it's super
- 45:09focused on this topic. But where I think
- 45:12it really shines is inside of studio
- 45:15over here on the right. We have
- 45:17currently nine different buttons for
- 45:19generating these different assets. And
- 45:22these are really cool. I don't know how
- 45:25else to say it. They're just really cool
- 45:26and really fun to play with. So, right
- 45:28here at the top is one of their most
- 45:30talked about standout features. We have
- 45:33these audio overviews. I'm just going to
- 45:35open up the customizer for it. So, when
- 45:38you generate one of these, it actually
- 45:41generates what sounds like a podcast
- 45:44between two hosts. And it's all AI
- 45:47generated. So I've made one of I made a
- 45:50bunch of these beforehand because all of
- 45:51these assets admittedly do take a little
- 45:53bit to generate. So we don't waste any
- 45:56time. I just generated one here if you
- 45:57want to give it a quick listen.
- 45:58>> So uh what if I told you that starting a
- 46:02profitable AI agency today like
- 46:05>> um so yeah it's it sounds super
- 46:06realistic. It's like two people talking
- 46:08to each other. I mean that's pretty
- 46:10amazing. And you know I started to think
- 46:12about like the possibilities of this,
- 46:14right?
- 46:15I think the more you play with Notebook
- 46:18LM, the more ideas you're going to get
- 46:20because what if you now create one of
- 46:23these podcast episodes and you actually
- 46:25use that somewhere? Maybe put on a
- 46:27YouTube video, maybe use it for
- 46:30marketing your business somehow. I think
- 46:32there's a lot you can do with these that
- 46:34most people surface level aren't seeing.
- 46:38>> You know what, Paul? given that you're
- 46:39um I think about what you do and given
- 46:41that you're a a business owner,
- 46:44what cuz you you you marked out like
- 46:46there's nine of these different ways uh
- 46:49in the studio. What have you found that
- 46:51you've been using the most frequently?
- 46:54Which ones have been the most valuable
- 46:55to you?
- 46:57>> Sure. Okay. So, for any sort of thing
- 47:01that I'm researching like this notebook
- 47:03about the science of sleep, I love these
- 47:05audio overviews. I generate these and
- 47:08now I have the notebook LM app on my
- 47:10phone. So when I'm driving, I just play
- 47:13it and now I'm learning about a new
- 47:14topic. It makes it so easy to learn
- 47:17these new things. I don't have to be
- 47:18sitting here in front of my computer to
- 47:20do that. It's really cool. One of my
- 47:22other favorite ones are the video
- 47:25overviews. These are beautiful. So
- 47:28there's currently three different
- 47:30versions of them. Let me show you this
- 47:32one. This is called an explainer video.
- 47:37Welcome to the explainer. Okay, today
- 47:39we're unpacking something absolutely
- 47:41huge, the ultimate blueprint for 2026.
- 47:44We're talking about going from zero to
- 47:46owning a highly profitable, low overhead
- 47:48AI automation agency. If you've been
- 47:50paying even a little bit of attention to
- 47:52the business world lately, you know the
- 47:53AI revolution isn't just coming, it's
- 47:55already here.
- 47:57>> Yeah. So, like super well done. Um, so
- 48:00that's the explainer, but the new one
- 48:02that I'm really excited for are these
- 48:05shorts.
- 48:10>> Yeah. Should I play this one?
- 48:11>> Yeah.
- 48:12>> Most people view sleep as just passively
- 48:14powering down, but it's actually an
- 48:17intense biological maintenance cycle.
- 48:19Here is exactly how lack of sleep breaks
- 48:21your body and how to fix it. First up,
- 48:24the brains wash cycle.
- 48:25>> I mean, that's pretty cool. And for
- 48:27something that's completely free, that's
- 48:29pretty wild. And this is another one
- 48:31where I I you know, this is brand new
- 48:33and I think people are going to take
- 48:34advantage of this and do some pretty
- 48:36cool stuff with these shorts.
- 48:37>> Yeah, that is really cool. That is
- 48:40really cool. You know what? Um, and this
- 48:42is an interesting almost like thought
- 48:43experiment for you because obviously you
- 48:48started
- 48:49like we mentioned in the beginning, you
- 48:52leave your job what about eight years
- 48:54ago? nine years ago, eight years ago
- 48:57>> um to like building your own business.
- 49:03I'm curious for you,
- 49:05let's just say that we fast forward and
- 49:08when you were actually leaving your job
- 49:09was in 2026 and you had this awareness
- 49:12of these tools. Do you think that the
- 49:14way I'm curious how you think uh that
- 49:17would have changed things like just the
- 49:18way that you would have approached it?
- 49:21Um, like is there certain things that
- 49:23you look at even when you're using some
- 49:25of this stuff now and you're like, "Oh
- 49:26yeah, for sure I would have been using
- 49:28that in that in that process of starting
- 49:30a business or like getting it off the
- 49:33ground or even what you chose to
- 49:35eventually do." Like what comes to mind?
- 49:39>> There's a lot of things that come to
- 49:40mind. I just my brain just raced through
- 49:42like 20 different things when you said
- 49:44that. But, you know, kind of going back
- 49:46to what I said before, just learn this
- 49:48stuff and then bring it to businesses
- 49:50who don't know how to do it. That feels
- 49:52so easy to me, like such lowhanging
- 49:54fruit because people aren't going to be
- 49:56aren't going to spend the time to figure
- 49:57this out. But then looking more
- 49:59practically at stuff like this, like I
- 50:02think a lot of what you have to do as an
- 50:04entrepreneur is try stuff out and see if
- 50:06it works. There's so many ideas. So, I
- 50:09look at these shorts and I'm wondering
- 50:10to myself, wait a minute, what if I
- 50:12create one of these shorts and then come
- 50:14over to Gemini and use this to create an
- 50:18avatar video of myself talking about the
- 50:21same topic? Can I put those together and
- 50:24suddenly have this pipeline where I'm
- 50:26creating content 20 times faster than a
- 50:29normal human can? Because I don't
- 50:31actually have to sit in front of the
- 50:32camera. I have Gemini making the videos
- 50:34for me inside of Gemini. and then these
- 50:38explainers inside of Notebook LM, you
- 50:41know, I think that scales up at a rate
- 50:43just couldn't in the past. And will that
- 50:46work? I'm not 100% sure. But again,
- 50:47that's part of being an entrepreneur,
- 50:49trying it out and and seeing what
- 50:50happens with it. Yeah, that is such an
- 50:52awesome idea because I even think about
- 50:55one of the things I've seen on my
- 50:56Instagram that's performing really well
- 50:58is when you have uh the video, you
- 51:00almost have like the split screen with
- 51:02the video of yourself talking about
- 51:03something and then like the green screen
- 51:06like an some sort of animation like
- 51:08visual B-roll uh on the top section. And
- 51:11you could see how you could edit those
- 51:13together using that workflow you just
- 51:15described, right? where you have the
- 51:16avatar of yourself in the bottom section
- 51:19and then like the animation playing on
- 51:21the top. And to your point, because of
- 51:23AI, you could create a ton of those in a
- 51:26day even. Um, yeah, that's pretty
- 51:30fascinating.
- 51:31>> Yeah. Or even if it's not like even if
- 51:34you don't want to use an AI avatar,
- 51:35well, you can use it for proof of
- 51:36concept, right? Before you sit down and
- 51:39spend the time making it yourself, make
- 51:41it with AI. And if you look at it and
- 51:43say, "Oh, this wouldn't work." Now you
- 51:44didn't waste your time recording it.
- 51:46>> It's such a good point. You know what?
- 51:48If we even rewind a bit deeper into your
- 51:52days when you were working like a 9 to5,
- 51:55is there certain I'm sure to be honest
- 51:57with notebook LM it feels like there's a
- 51:59ton. But I'm curious what use cases you
- 52:03would even see like for someone that's
- 52:04working in a corporate job or like in a
- 52:079 to5 like are there certain things that
- 52:09you see like workflows uh that you're
- 52:12like okay this could actually be like I
- 52:14would use this in my dayto-day.
- 52:16>> Yeah. All right. So you ready for
- 52:18notebook level two? So this is a
- 52:22notebook I created for a fake company.
- 52:25It's called Trailhead Supply Company.
- 52:27And instead of uploading websites and
- 52:29YouTube videos as sources, I uploaded
- 52:32company uh reports. I have a CSV file
- 52:36that I uploaded with our ad spend, how
- 52:40our our ads are performing, you know,
- 52:43our monthly income and revenue and all
- 52:45that sort of stuff. So all of that's all
- 52:47I uploaded. That's it. And then from
- 52:50that I asked it questions like what's
- 52:53the first question I asked? rank all
- 52:55five marketing channels from best to
- 52:57worst and it used that data and gave me
- 53:01that analysis right here. Then I created
- 53:04over here this slide deck and you can
- 53:07see that this is our plan our our
- 53:10ranking kind of like a an overview of
- 53:12how the business is doing and where
- 53:14growth is strong generated by notebook
- 53:17LM with just a couple of clicks and it's
- 53:19a really nice looking slide deck. We
- 53:22have what else we have here? What is
- 53:25this one? Oh, here's an infographic. So,
- 53:28it also generates infographics showing
- 53:30the same information, a kind of audit of
- 53:33the growth of the company and the the ad
- 53:36spend and how that's affecting it. And
- 53:38then finally, we have just a report that
- 53:40it put together because it can generate
- 53:41reports. So, if you kind of use this for
- 53:44your own personal data or your business
- 53:46data, it unlocks a lot of possibilities.
- 53:49>> Yeah, that's fascinating. That's so good
- 53:52cuz you can actually I I didn't even
- 53:53think about that point. You can upload
- 53:55your own documents, reports, and then
- 53:58you could just build things off the back
- 54:00of that. And so I think about what you
- 54:02used to do being like a lawyer where you
- 54:04probably have all of these documents,
- 54:06court cases, like legal stuff. You could
- 54:09put it in and then use that to like
- 54:12generate even like a presentation or
- 54:14even what consultants do like strategy
- 54:16consultants where a lot of the times
- 54:18it's like you're reading through reports
- 54:20or there's like data and then you want
- 54:23to create slide decks that you can then
- 54:24present like it's so even like pitch
- 54:26decks for investors like the it goes on
- 54:30and on, doesn't it?
- 54:31>> It does and it's really good at creating
- 54:33slide decks. That's one of my favorite
- 54:35features. Like this is one that it
- 54:37generated. It generates in all these
- 54:39different styles that are just really
- 54:41fun to play around with. Really great
- 54:43infographics. That's one of the places
- 54:45it really shines.
- 54:46>> Yeah. You know what, Paul, before we
- 54:48move on to uh Google AI Studios, is
- 54:51there anything we're missing? Is there
- 54:53anything that you you anything else that
- 54:54you want to mention in regard to
- 54:56Notebook LM?
- 54:57>> You just got to play around with it.
- 54:59You're going to have so much fun
- 55:00clicking these buttons, you know,
- 55:01generating all of these assets inside of
- 55:04infographics here. For instance, if you
- 55:06click on this arrow, that's how you
- 55:08customize them. And check this out. You
- 55:10can make infographics in all these
- 55:12different styles. You can make it
- 55:14professional if you want, or you can
- 55:15keep it fun. And so, just play around
- 55:18with this. You can do different aspect
- 55:19ratios because the more you use this,
- 55:21the more use cases you're going to find
- 55:23and the more you're going to realize
- 55:24that using AI is kind of fun.
- 55:27>> Yeah. Yeah. No, I need to I'm going to
- 55:30get on this afterwards. Um,
- 55:33okay, Paul. The the the final tool that
- 55:35we we wanted to talk about is actually
- 55:37the tool that I hear the least about
- 55:39online, and that's Google AI Studios.
- 55:43And so, can you just kind of start from
- 55:46the beginning? We've shown people
- 55:48Gemini, which is in like G Suite, and
- 55:51really if you're interacting with
- 55:52Google, even if you're just searching on
- 55:54Google, you're using Gemini. We've shown
- 55:57Notebook LM, which is almost like this
- 56:00ultimate researching
- 56:02tool.
- 56:04Google AI Studios, like how does it fit
- 56:06into the pie? Like what is it that it
- 56:08does? Well, like I mentioned in the
- 56:11beginning, kind of like to bring this
- 56:13all the way back around, the cool thing
- 56:15about Google is that and Google AI is
- 56:18that you can start simple, you know,
- 56:20just using Gemini and using the basic
- 56:23features. You can level up in Gemini.
- 56:25You can use Notebook LM for simple
- 56:27things or you can level up with it. But
- 56:29then once you're ready to sort of like
- 56:30take that next step and you're like, I
- 56:33want to like tinker more with AI, that's
- 56:36what Google AI Studio is. So if that
- 56:40sort of interests you and like playing
- 56:41around, this is kind of the tool for
- 56:44you. So it's all the same stuff you can
- 56:46do in Gemini, but what's nice about
- 56:48Gemini is that you just ask it to do
- 56:51something. You can change the model
- 56:52here, but there's really only three
- 56:54choices.
- 56:55but it just works. If you want to kind
- 56:58of dial it in, that's when you can come
- 57:00in here and choose the exact model that
- 57:02you want and even jump in and give it
- 57:04specific custom system instructions. So,
- 57:07it's a little bit more technical on that
- 57:08end.
- 57:09>> Yeah, you you mentioned it being more
- 57:11more technical, more custom. Even when I
- 57:14was uh reading and doing some of the
- 57:16research uh in anticipation of this
- 57:19conversation, it was uh saying that
- 57:22initially Google AI Studios was meant
- 57:25really for developers. It feels like
- 57:28speaking to you today the everyday
- 57:31person could actually use it. From your
- 57:34experience, is that the case? And then
- 57:37if so, how would you imagine that an
- 57:40everyday person would use Google AI
- 57:42Studios?
- 57:44>> Yeah. So, I think it definitely is the
- 57:47case. Um, I think this is one of the
- 57:49more accessible tools that started as a
- 57:52developer tool. And I think in
- 57:54particular, if you're going to be using
- 57:56this, it's because you're going to play
- 57:58around with build. So, with build, you
- 58:00can actually create these apps. And I'll
- 58:04show you some examples of some of the
- 58:06apps. very simple ones that I've I've
- 58:09created. So, I just came in here and
- 58:11this is, you know, if you've ever heard
- 58:12the term vibe coding, it's where you
- 58:15come in here and just literally describe
- 58:18what app you want to make in plain
- 58:19English and it will make it for you. So,
- 58:22here with just a simple prompt, I
- 58:24generated this app which is a product
- 58:26description generator. You put in the
- 58:28name of the product that you're selling.
- 58:31So, it might be&c headphones for
- 58:34instance. you click on generate
- 58:36description. This one's broken, which is
- 58:39okay because it's easy to fix. Um, you
- 58:42can just tell it. So, this was a bad
- 58:44example, so I apologize to that. But the
- 58:46cool thing about this is that whatever
- 58:48just happened, I don't even know what
- 58:49that means. So, let me get let me show
- 58:51you it again. So, it's like chair
- 58:53generate. I get this error message,
- 58:56right? I don't I don't know what
- 58:57happened here because I'm not a coder.
- 58:58I've never written a single line of code
- 59:00in my life. But what's cool about this
- 59:02is that I can now come over to Gemini
- 59:04and just say paste in the error and say
- 59:08this error came up and it's going to fix
- 59:11it for me. I don't know what it's doing,
- 59:13but it's fixing it for me. And that's
- 59:15what's really cool about this. So here's
- 59:17another one. It's just like a simple
- 59:19expense tracking app. And here's another
- 59:22one. Oh, this one's still loading. So
- 59:24yeah, it just kind of give you an idea
- 59:25of like kind of the stuff you can make
- 59:27with it. But I think for for some people
- 59:30this may still feel too advanced. So I
- 59:33just want to give people a heads up that
- 59:34you can actually do this inside of
- 59:36Gemini. Um so I've created apps in
- 59:38Gemini. This is Gemini over here. I
- 59:41created this app where you can put in
- 59:43any destination. So I could put in like
- 59:46the pyramids of Egypt for instance.
- 59:51What are we doing? Egypt. And then you
- 59:53can like put in the vibe. So I want it
- 59:54to be like epic adventure. the I want it
- 59:57to be at midnight. And then I click on
- 59:59this and it's actually using AI inside
- 1:00:02the app that I've generated. So there's
- 1:00:05two places you can generate these. Um
- 1:00:07the nice thing about creating them
- 1:00:09inside of Google AI Studio though is
- 1:00:11that it makes it easier to actually
- 1:00:13deploy them if you want to get serious
- 1:00:15and actually like launch this as a real
- 1:00:18product.
- 1:00:22um just because it connects e more
- 1:00:25easily with the tools for actually
- 1:00:27deploying it. So if we come back over to
- 1:00:31this one where we generated the image in
- 1:00:34order to share it there's a couple of
- 1:00:36options inside of Gemini for sharing
- 1:00:38apps. If you just click share you get a
- 1:00:40link and you can share this link with
- 1:00:42anyone and they can uh instantly access
- 1:00:45it but it's not behind a a pay wall.
- 1:00:47They don't need to give you your their
- 1:00:49email address. So it's it's like there's
- 1:00:53uh it's you can't monetize this, right?
- 1:00:56The other option is you can I think I
- 1:00:58just accidentally closed it. But the
- 1:01:00other option is you can copy the code
- 1:01:02and then you have to bring that code
- 1:01:04over and actually use it somewhere else.
- 1:01:07But with Google AI Studio, you can build
- 1:01:09it directly in here and then you can
- 1:01:10send it over I think to GitHub directly
- 1:01:12for instance.
- 1:01:13>> Yeah. Okay. That's that's fascinating.
- 1:01:17It's like I think one of the things
- 1:01:18that's been uh crazy to me just in the
- 1:01:22last year is the ability that anyone
- 1:01:26listening at home actually has to like
- 1:01:27build things like build software and
- 1:01:30apps. And to your point, it's like you
- 1:01:33haven't written a single line of code in
- 1:01:37your life and even when the thing
- 1:01:38breaks, it's like you just tell it that
- 1:01:40it's broken and it will fix it. I just
- 1:01:43think it's uh it's like this insane
- 1:01:46ability that we have in 2026.
- 1:01:50>> Yeah, it really is. And if you start to
- 1:01:53think about this and you know when you
- 1:01:55first start using this, your apps aren't
- 1:01:57going to be very good. They're going to
- 1:01:58be like this, like very basic. Um and
- 1:02:00then the more you use it, the more
- 1:02:01you're going to start to find like cool
- 1:02:03use cases for it, like how you can build
- 1:02:05out entire websites or you can generate
- 1:02:07apps like this which actually have AI
- 1:02:10built in. And that starts to get you
- 1:02:12thinking, okay, I'm a business owner.
- 1:02:15What tools am I paying for that I can
- 1:02:18just vibe code an app for free and then
- 1:02:21use forever for free so I don't have to
- 1:02:23pay for those apps anymore? And then
- 1:02:26then it's like, wait a minute, can I do
- 1:02:28this for other businesses? And if you
- 1:02:30learn how to vive code decent internal
- 1:02:33tools and to get them in a way
- 1:02:36accessible to businesses,
- 1:02:38they're willing to pay money, especially
- 1:02:41if it's a lot cheaper than some of the
- 1:02:43enterprise products out there, which can
- 1:02:44be extraordinarily expensive.
- 1:02:47>> Yeah. You know, Paul, just on that on
- 1:02:49that point of even for business owners
- 1:02:53that as you get more familiar with uh
- 1:02:57like these tools like Google AI Studio
- 1:02:59and start building apps,
- 1:03:02what to you have you found even in your
- 1:03:04business and as you've been using this
- 1:03:06technology,
- 1:03:09what kind of tools, apps have you built
- 1:03:12that have actually been valuable, useful
- 1:03:16like it's gone above just the
- 1:03:18playground. It's actually like, okay, I
- 1:03:19actually this has a use case for me.
- 1:03:22>> Yeah. So, one of the apps I built will
- 1:03:25generate
- 1:03:27um well, I can you can choose how many
- 1:03:28it generates generates multiple
- 1:03:30thumbnails. So, that uses Nano Banana.
- 1:03:33Same way that this app is how it's using
- 1:03:35Nano Banana to actually generate the
- 1:03:37image that appears in here. It's using
- 1:03:39Nano Banana to generate six thumbnails I
- 1:03:41usually have it make for me in different
- 1:03:43styles. So I can look at them and then
- 1:03:46choose which one I want to use for my
- 1:03:47videos and then iterate on it. So
- 1:03:49something like that is pretty cool. So
- 1:03:50you know I can I can come into Gemini
- 1:03:52and say create a thumbnail for me,
- 1:03:53create a second, create a third, fourth,
- 1:03:55fifth, sixth. But the app just makes it
- 1:03:57easier because it will just generate all
- 1:03:59six at once. So that's been a a pretty
- 1:04:01nice one. Um and there are tools that
- 1:04:04you can pay for that do that. But why
- 1:04:06would you when you could just have an
- 1:04:08app that you make? It took me probably
- 1:04:09five minutes to make that app.
- 1:04:11>> Yeah. You know, the thing that's like
- 1:04:13even as you're describing it, it's
- 1:04:15clicking for me. Part of the advantage
- 1:04:18that Google has is they have so many of
- 1:04:21these different tools. And so it's like
- 1:04:24when you want to do image generation,
- 1:04:26you're pulling from Nano Banana or it's
- 1:04:28using Gemini or like there's so many
- 1:04:31things that it has but all in one. And
- 1:04:34then you mix that in with also the G
- 1:04:36Suite access, right? which is like oh
- 1:04:39yeah I wanted to create a PowerPoint in
- 1:04:41slides or I wanted to create
- 1:04:42spreadsheets in sheets or I wanted to
- 1:04:45write a memo in Google documents. So
- 1:04:47it's like the the just the the breadth
- 1:04:50of tools that it has allin one feels
- 1:04:53like kind of like a unique value
- 1:04:56proposition for Google specifically.
- 1:04:59It really is. And part of the reason is
- 1:05:02because they have so much money and so
- 1:05:04many resources and they've always
- 1:05:06believe they have this they have this
- 1:05:08program called Google Labs. And the
- 1:05:10whole point of Google Labs is to try
- 1:05:14things and that's how Notebook LM came
- 1:05:17about because someone just had this idea
- 1:05:20for creating this system where you can
- 1:05:23create these notebooks that are grounded
- 1:05:25and it just started as a little
- 1:05:27experiment and it took off. people
- 1:05:28absolutely loved it. Some of the ideas
- 1:05:30they create with labs go nowhere and
- 1:05:33others get like absorbed into other
- 1:05:35products. So it might start out as just
- 1:05:37like a single app that does something
- 1:05:39very specific and then they bring that
- 1:05:40into Gemini. That's how music started
- 1:05:42for instance and now it's just part of
- 1:05:44Gemini. And so because of that, they're
- 1:05:47just always releasing these new tools
- 1:05:48that do all this crazy stuff. So this is
- 1:05:52another tool called Flow. This is
- 1:05:53specifically for image and video
- 1:05:55generation. Again, you can do this
- 1:05:57inside of Gemini, but this is really
- 1:05:59nice because you can have this whole
- 1:06:01workspace where you have all the images
- 1:06:03you're working on, all the videos.
- 1:06:05Here's another one that they do, which
- 1:06:07is just for music generation. Um, so
- 1:06:10just tons of tools that they have for
- 1:06:13different purposes. And the cool thing
- 1:06:15is that I know it can feel overwhelming
- 1:06:17because I think they have like over 30
- 1:06:19of these, but you don't have to use them
- 1:06:21all, right? You just have to know the
- 1:06:23the main important ones which I think
- 1:06:24are Gemini and Notebook LM. And then if
- 1:06:27you're ready for the extra tinkering,
- 1:06:28you can go into AI Studio or try out
- 1:06:30some of these other ones.
- 1:06:32>> Yeah. You know, one of the things is and
- 1:06:33and and you'll resonate with this, Paul.
- 1:06:36I think one of the the principles in in
- 1:06:38business that you learn pretty early is
- 1:06:40that of like the zigg when they zag is
- 1:06:43doing the thing that not everyone else
- 1:06:44is doing or using the thing that not
- 1:06:46everyone else is using. And I think back
- 1:06:48to what we were talking about earlier
- 1:06:50where everyone for the most part is on
- 1:06:54either chat GPT or Claude
- 1:06:58for you just given the like expertise
- 1:07:02and really just the time that you've
- 1:07:04spent with Google's AI tools does it
- 1:07:07feel like you have an edge? cuz a lot of
- 1:07:10what you've shown me today I didn't even
- 1:07:13really know was possible specific
- 1:07:15especially with uh notebook LM I didn't
- 1:07:19even really know that you could do that
- 1:07:20and I'm using Claude and chat GPT every
- 1:07:23day
- 1:07:25>> yeah um you mean an edge in terms of
- 1:07:28like my content creation or just in
- 1:07:30business in general
- 1:07:31>> just that the fact that you you kind of
- 1:07:34even in the way that you were using it
- 1:07:36in your business your content even in
- 1:07:38your life with the sleep use cases. It
- 1:07:40feels like it kind of has given you
- 1:07:42something um that even the other tools
- 1:07:45haven't.
- 1:07:46>> Yeah. Yeah. I do feel that way. I think
- 1:07:48I think that a lot of people sleep on
- 1:07:50what no pun intended on what you what's
- 1:07:53available to you through Google. Um and
- 1:07:57people would just like get hyperfocused
- 1:07:59on chatbt or claude without realizing
- 1:08:01that these incredible tools exist. And
- 1:08:04like look at this one for instance this
- 1:08:05this music generation. I mean how many
- 1:08:07people know about this? very few and
- 1:08:09this is this is a very good music
- 1:08:11generation uh AI tool and so you know
- 1:08:15there are possibilities here what can
- 1:08:17you do with AI music you can go out you
- 1:08:19know figure that out but not everyone's
- 1:08:21going to know about this so they're not
- 1:08:23going to know how to do this and if you
- 1:08:25can be like one of the people figuring
- 1:08:27it out that gives you an advantage
- 1:08:29especially when people don't even know
- 1:08:30exists
- 1:08:32>> you know what Paul because I want to um
- 1:08:36you mentioned some of the apps and I I
- 1:08:38think that the the vibe coding and the
- 1:08:41ability to build anything
- 1:08:45will be one of the most valuable
- 1:08:46takeaways that someone would take from
- 1:08:48watching this conversation
- 1:08:51for some of those apps that you've built
- 1:08:53because it really starts with like the
- 1:08:55prompt and what you know what you
- 1:08:57instructed the AI to do. Can you just
- 1:09:00walk people through from like the step
- 1:09:02one how you even thought about
- 1:09:05prompting, describing, outlining
- 1:09:09to Google AI Studio
- 1:09:12what exactly you needed so that it could
- 1:09:14then build the app that you wanted cuz I
- 1:09:17can see that being a frustrating
- 1:09:18experience for people. It's like they
- 1:09:20think they're being clear but they're
- 1:09:22not getting the output that they want.
- 1:09:25>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Good question. So,
- 1:09:27I'll show you these example because I
- 1:09:29already have these ones pulled up inside
- 1:09:30of Gemini. Um, you know, the term is
- 1:09:34called vibe coding for a reason, and
- 1:09:36it's because what you're describing to
- 1:09:38the AI is the vibe. You of course want
- 1:09:42to explain what you want the app to do.
- 1:09:43So, this is an app that's that's just a
- 1:09:46game. So, it's like an arcade where you
- 1:09:48can actually play three different games
- 1:09:49in here. And you can just describe the
- 1:09:53what you want it to do. So, I said I
- 1:09:54wanted a arcade style system with three
- 1:09:57different games, but then you wanted to
- 1:09:59describe the vibe of it. Like, I want it
- 1:10:01to feel very retro. I wanted like
- 1:10:03someone playing it to feel like they're
- 1:10:04back in the 80s playing this game on
- 1:10:07like an old system. Um, so that's I
- 1:10:11think very important to describe those
- 1:10:12vibes. And then I also think it's
- 1:10:14important to give it um what's the word
- 1:10:18I'm looking for? Uh examples. So, if you
- 1:10:21see something out there that you like,
- 1:10:23like a style, so if someone else posted
- 1:10:25this and you're like, I really like that
- 1:10:26style, take a screenshot of it and give
- 1:10:28it to Google AS Studio or Gemini and
- 1:10:30say, I really like this style. I don't
- 1:10:33want to create this same app, but I want
- 1:10:34to use this style in this other app that
- 1:10:37does this other thing. It's really good
- 1:10:39at looking at references like that when
- 1:10:41building out what you need. But the
- 1:10:43other important thing that people get
- 1:10:45wrong when it comes to vibe coding these
- 1:10:48different apps is that they try to give
- 1:10:49it too much at once. And this is a
- 1:10:52little bit of an actually there's a
- 1:10:53better example of it over here where I
- 1:10:56created this sort of note takingaking
- 1:10:58system and there's just too much going
- 1:11:00on. And for the first for the first run,
- 1:11:04the first thing you should do is sort of
- 1:11:07like the the minimal viable product. I'm
- 1:11:10wanting to create a note-taking system.
- 1:11:12So instead of doing all this stuff, I
- 1:11:14should have just had it create for me
- 1:11:16this where I just create notes in here
- 1:11:18and that's it. And then once I verified
- 1:11:20that worked and I like the aesthetic of
- 1:11:22it, then we can iterate on it and add an
- 1:11:25inbox and the interactive graph and the
- 1:11:27daily AI synthesis because if you try to
- 1:11:31do too much at once, something's going
- 1:11:32to break. You try to fix that one thing,
- 1:11:34then you realize something else doesn't
- 1:11:36work or it breaks something else and it
- 1:11:38can get frustrating. So starting small
- 1:11:40and having like incremental changes is a
- 1:11:43really smart way to get the app to work
- 1:11:47every step of the way and so the final
- 1:11:49product is much better.
- 1:11:50>> Yeah. You know, if I was going to
- 1:11:52distill it and and you let me know if
- 1:11:54I'm correct in this pool, it sounds like
- 1:11:56there's three parts to like the perfect
- 1:11:59prompt in terms of building apps here.
- 1:12:01So it starts with like what is it that
- 1:12:03you want it to do and you focus on like
- 1:12:06one core use case which in this case is
- 1:12:09like I just want it to be a note taker
- 1:12:11or I just want it to be like a note it
- 1:12:13gathers notes like that's the main use
- 1:12:15case what it does then you the second
- 1:12:17part is you have uh the vibe like here's
- 1:12:20how I want it to feel here's how it kind
- 1:12:22of looks here's kind of like the and and
- 1:12:25then that moves us on to the third part
- 1:12:26which is the style which is where you're
- 1:12:28adding like screenshots of inspiration
- 1:12:31so it can get the exact look. Um, you're
- 1:12:34using words like I want this retro style
- 1:12:36or like uh like this minimalist like
- 1:12:38very simplistic style,
- 1:12:41cartoon style I could imagine as well.
- 1:12:44That seems like kind of the three-part
- 1:12:46process. It's like what does it do and
- 1:12:49then vibe? What's the vibe of it? Then
- 1:12:51what is the style? And that will kind of
- 1:12:53give you your first uh like great
- 1:12:56output.
- 1:12:57>> Yeah, exactly. I think you nailed it.
- 1:12:59Sweet. Nice. You know what? Um
- 1:13:04Paul, once uh before we get out of here
- 1:13:09and and it's funny cuz you and I were
- 1:13:10actually um we were speaking about this
- 1:13:13before, which I think when it comes to
- 1:13:17videos like this, it's so easy to watch
- 1:13:19it and get inspired and come up with all
- 1:13:21of these ideas and then the action never
- 1:13:24happens. And so I'm curious from you
- 1:13:28from your vantage point as someone that
- 1:13:30made that
- 1:13:32both you made that transition from like
- 1:13:34working a 9 to5 to now
- 1:13:38being online and having your own
- 1:13:40business.
- 1:13:42For someone that's listening to this
- 1:13:43conversation and they enjoyed this
- 1:13:45conversation,
- 1:13:47what would you have as like the
- 1:13:48immediate step one? Like the thing that
- 1:13:50they should go and do immediately after
- 1:13:53listening to this conversation so that
- 1:13:55they can take action.
- 1:13:58>> Yeah, it's really not that hard. My my
- 1:14:01tip for you and that's just to go out
- 1:14:03and start playing with these tools. Have
- 1:14:06fun with them, seeing what they can do.
- 1:14:09I would actually start with Notebook LM,
- 1:14:11especially if you haven't used it
- 1:14:12already, because you can come in here
- 1:14:14and just clicking on all these different
- 1:14:16buttons on the right is just a lot of
- 1:14:18fun. You're going to start to get an
- 1:14:20idea of what you can make with this, the
- 1:14:22different types of in infographics and
- 1:14:23the different styles because the value
- 1:14:27that you're going to have is
- 1:14:30understanding what these tools can do
- 1:14:32when other people don't. And the only
- 1:14:34way you're going to get that experience
- 1:14:35is just coming in here and playing with
- 1:14:37them. Yeah. You know, you even um you
- 1:14:41said this and I wanted you to elaborate
- 1:14:43on it because I think it's so freaking
- 1:14:45good. You said, "I always encourage
- 1:14:48people to just try to do everything with
- 1:14:51AI just for 3 days. Take everything that
- 1:14:54you normally do on the computer, then
- 1:14:57try and have AI do it." Can can you just
- 1:15:00share with people why did you say that?
- 1:15:04Yeah, it it's a really good exercise in
- 1:15:07forcing yourself to see what the limits
- 1:15:10are of the tools that you use because I
- 1:15:14think so many times people are stuck
- 1:15:17with that question that we raised
- 1:15:19before. What can you do with AI? What
- 1:15:22are the workflows? And a lot of people
- 1:15:27don't know that AI is capable of much
- 1:15:30more than they think if they just spend
- 1:15:33the time to learn how to do it. So the
- 1:15:35first time that okay, let's say it's
- 1:15:38email. The first time you come into
- 1:15:40Gemini and you're like, can Gemini help
- 1:15:42me with my emails? I don't know. You
- 1:15:45come in here and you ask Gemini, can you
- 1:15:47help me with my emails? It might say no.
- 1:15:48Okay, now you know. But then you ask it,
- 1:15:51how can AI help me with my emails? And
- 1:15:54then it'll probably tell you go into
- 1:15:55Gmail and it will actually have a a
- 1:15:58message a the box down there where you
- 1:16:00can have it right for you or you know
- 1:16:03this was a silly example because Gemini
- 1:16:04can help you with your emails but that's
- 1:16:06what it'll tell you. So it's all about
- 1:16:09just kind of trying really hard and the
- 1:16:11first time that you do it might take you
- 1:16:13a long time because it feels clunky
- 1:16:15because you're not familiar with these
- 1:16:16tools but then the more you use it
- 1:16:18you're like hey this is speeding up my
- 1:16:19workflows. I'm able to get through my
- 1:16:21emails twice as fast as I used to
- 1:16:23because now I understand how that works.
- 1:16:26And now you might be thinking, okay,
- 1:16:29what if I teach this to other people?
- 1:16:30What if I go into businesses and help
- 1:16:33them streamline the processes they have
- 1:16:36using AI? Well, that's a valuable skill.
- 1:16:39And it's all because you took the time
- 1:16:40to learn how to do it um when no one
- 1:16:43else was taking that time.
- 1:16:45>> Yeah. You know what? To your point,
- 1:16:47Paul, I think it's like a it's really
- 1:16:49like a mindset switch because we're so
- 1:16:52used to just doing things like we're so
- 1:16:54used to manually doing all of the things
- 1:16:56ourselves of like writing the emails or
- 1:16:59writing the memo or gathering the data
- 1:17:02and putting it in the spreadsheet or
- 1:17:04building the slides manually ourselves.
- 1:17:07It's actually like a mindset switch to
- 1:17:08be like, "Oh, no. technology can
- 1:17:10actually do it for me in a very custom
- 1:17:15way. And and and where my mind goes, I
- 1:17:18think about what you mentioned of like
- 1:17:19saving the time.
- 1:17:21And so, can you even just speak to that
- 1:17:25portion for you, which is like the value
- 1:17:29in your life in like your personal
- 1:17:33experience of being able to use AI in
- 1:17:36the way that you are? Like what is it
- 1:17:38that you've seen? I even think about the
- 1:17:39freedom that you mentioned in the
- 1:17:40beginning.
- 1:17:43>> Yeah. So AI touches everything I do now
- 1:17:47because I I did that experiment and I do
- 1:17:49it every few weeks because the models
- 1:17:51and the tools are getting better and
- 1:17:52better. And so now my I wake up and I
- 1:17:56get a report from Gemini every morning.
- 1:17:58See it over here on the left it says
- 1:17:59daily brief. Again, unfortunately I
- 1:18:01can't click on this because it'll
- 1:18:02actually like say what's on my calendar.
- 1:18:03You know I have personal stuff in my
- 1:18:05calendar, personal emails. But this will
- 1:18:07give me a breakdown of my entire day and
- 1:18:09let me know what's going on for the day.
- 1:18:12So mentally I'm in the right space. I go
- 1:18:15into Gmail, I already have drafts of
- 1:18:17emails in there. I can quickly reply to
- 1:18:20everything. It's auto sorting them. Um
- 1:18:24I, you know, have research I have for my
- 1:18:27videos and the outlines. I have Google
- 1:18:29Drive outline those videos for me. So
- 1:18:32it's just like such a timesaver. You
- 1:18:35know, it's not replacing me. I'm still
- 1:18:36in the loop every step of the way. It's
- 1:18:38not sending out emails for me, but it's
- 1:18:40speeding up the things that I already
- 1:18:42do. But the only reason it's doing that
- 1:18:44is because I asked it, can you do this?
- 1:18:47How can we do this faster? And I figured
- 1:18:50those things out. Yeah. You know what,
- 1:18:52Paul, before we get out of here,
- 1:18:55when you think to the to the future, and
- 1:18:57I'm just curious from your vantage
- 1:18:58point, given the time that you spend
- 1:19:00with this technology, the people that
- 1:19:02you speak to, um even the people that
- 1:19:05reach out to you that watch your videos,
- 1:19:08where do you think the future of this is
- 1:19:11going? Because it it can already do so
- 1:19:13much. And and I'm curious to know is
- 1:19:16there something where you're like I
- 1:19:18actually think that a year from now, two
- 1:19:21years from now,
- 1:19:23we're going to be in this position like
- 1:19:25kind of share that future or what what
- 1:19:27you see.
- 1:19:30There's so many directions I can go with
- 1:19:33that. You know, I think that one of the
- 1:19:36things that excites me is being able to
- 1:19:38pick up my phone and just pressing a
- 1:19:40button and speaking to Gemini or
- 1:19:42whatever tool it is I want to use and
- 1:19:44just saying do this, do that, speaking
- 1:19:47to it live, saying what emails did I get
- 1:19:49today, you know, as I'm out for my walk
- 1:19:52and it's telling me the emails and it's
- 1:19:54saying I already drafted these replies.
- 1:19:56Do you want me to send them? Say yes.
- 1:19:58and all that's just kind of being done.
- 1:20:00Like really having that feeling that I
- 1:20:02have a personal assistant that is
- 1:20:05humanlike to talk to and I think that is
- 1:20:08coming. There's already some tools like
- 1:20:09that in beta that we've seen previews of
- 1:20:14and so that's kind of one things that
- 1:20:15really excites me.
- 1:20:17>> Yeah. It's like Jarvis from Iron Man.
- 1:20:20>> Exactly. Exact. That's what I want.
- 1:20:22>> Yeah. That's awesome. Paul, let people
- 1:20:24know like where they can uh where they
- 1:20:27can find you.
- 1:20:29>> I'm all in on YouTube. So, if you want
