  1. 0:00deciding I'm going to make a million
  2. 0:01dollarss or I'm going to start running
  3. 0:0350 miles a day or I'm going to stop
  4. 0:06drinking this year and like you know New
  5. 0:07Year's Eve those are all the last drinks
  6. 0:10you have and then and then by February
  7. 0:12you're back at the bar so it really is
  8. 0:15about chunking it down and taking
  9. 0:17smaller bites of things and really doing
  10. 0:19it day by day and and I talk about this
  11. 0:21in badass habits a lot is about your
  12. 0:23it's more about your identity than what
  13. 0:25you're doing which is kind of the same
  14. 0:26thing bad as in money mindset versus
  15. 0:29action you know it's about who you're
  16. 0:31being not necessarily what you're doing
  17. 0:33so with habits a lot of us change what
  18. 0:35we're doing which is important but if
  19. 0:37the if the identity piece isn't there
  20. 0:40you will not last hey it's EV Carmichael
  21. 0:42and I watch these videos every day
  22. 0:44because I need them for motivation being
  23. 0:47around successful entrepreneurs every
  24. 0:48morning helps me believe that I can do
  25. 0:50great things too it's like your morning
  26. 0:52coffee but for your goals kickstarting
  27. 0:54your day with a blast of positivity so
  28. 0:56here is a challenge for you try watching
  29. 0:58One video every morning morning for the
  30. 1:00next 30 days and let's find out together
  31. 1:02if they help you do great things too if
  32. 1:04you're in leave a # believe in the
  33. 1:07comments below so I can celebrate with
  34. 1:11you so today let's learn to convince our
  35. 1:13mind to think and achieve anything enjoy
  36. 1:17I was the kind of smoker who just I like
  37. 1:20that first cigarette of the day like I'm
  38. 1:22going to actually start smoking again
  39. 1:23when I'm 80 and I'm super excited about
  40. 1:25it but um so anyway I do I I love those
  41. 1:29things but they're disgusting and they
  42. 1:30were killing me and whatever so I was
  43. 1:33very excited to quit smoking and I quit
  44. 1:35all the time and I would start all the
  45. 1:36time and it wasn't until I shifted my
  46. 1:38identity accidentally around smoking
  47. 1:40where I stopped negotiating with oh I'll
  48. 1:45have a drag or you know just tonight I'm
  49. 1:48gonna smoke you know it's not a big
  50. 1:49whoop-de-doo and I'd automatically be up
  51. 1:51two pack a day right after that but when
  52. 1:54I changed my identity as somebody who
  53. 1:56wasn't an EXs smoker or somebody who
  54. 1:58hadn't quit smoking I changed it to
  55. 2:01somebody who was healthy who was in
  56. 2:03charge of her life who was in control of
  57. 2:05her actions I didn't even bring smoking
  58. 2:07into the equation because somebody who's
  59. 2:09never smoked isn't an ex-smoker doesn't
  60. 2:12have smoking in the equation so it
  61. 2:14really becomes sort of like I don't
  62. 2:16negotiate when I wake up in the morning
  63. 2:18whether or not to drink a bottle of
  64. 2:20vodka because that's not who I am so
  65. 2:23when I wasn't an ex-smoker anymore and I
  66. 2:26wasn't you know when I was much more
  67. 2:28focused on my health and doing things
  68. 2:31that were
  69. 2:31healthy the cigarettes weren't even in
  70. 2:34my radar so it really has so much to do
  71. 2:36with your focus right so when you
  72. 2:38identify so this is why I say if you're
  73. 2:40going to start running every day and you
  74. 2:41don't run at all right now even just
  75. 2:43putting on your damn sneakers and
  76. 2:45running to the driveway to get the paper
  77. 2:46and coming back like you're getting in
  78. 2:49the yes you're getting in the habit of
  79. 2:51the Habit you are somebody who runs who
  80. 2:54that is a part of your day and you're
  81. 2:55starting to adopt that identity rule
  82. 2:58number two is get in control TR with
  83. 3:00David gokin every morning I wake up it's
  84. 3:02not just about working out but for me
  85. 3:05working out has been a very big part of
  86. 3:07my mental growth so for me if I am not
  87. 3:10challenging myself every day and I swear
  88. 3:13to God people will not believe it I was
  89. 3:16over almost 300 lbs twice in my life a
  90. 3:20person that does that twice in his life
  91. 3:22does not enjoy cardiovascular activity
  92. 3:26okay yeah so people can put anything
  93. 3:28they want to in their head I did realize
  94. 3:31one thing the things I don't enjoy that
  95. 3:34I still do that's where growth is at and
  96. 3:38that's for me the only place growth is
  97. 3:41at is in that very uncomfortable you
  98. 3:44know in that uncomfortable Zone yeah so
  99. 3:47I have to visit it every single day so
  100. 3:49when you say visit it every day what
  101. 3:51sort of things are you doing daily to
  102. 3:53push yourself so for instance today I
  103. 3:55woke up and I just got to London and I
  104. 3:59don't know where to run here it's very
  105. 4:01difficult to run around this place so
  106. 4:03someone said hey you can run around out
  107. 4:05here like around this one mile block and
  108. 4:06I'm like you know what I'm not doing
  109. 4:08that so I went down to the gym and
  110. 4:11there's this like crazy elliptical
  111. 4:14trainer but it's not a normal elliptical
  112. 4:16trainer it's one that you like almost
  113. 4:19self-power and it's very yeah it's not
  114. 4:21electric you very difficult so I got on
  115. 4:24that thing and I realized man this sucks
  116. 4:26and after like two minutes I'm like I
  117. 4:28don't want to do this so right then I
  118. 4:31realized H it looks like we're going to
  119. 4:34be here for a while so I did that for 2
  120. 4:37hours and 45 minutes wow yeah so I'm not
  121. 4:41saying do that but that's something I
  122. 4:43did today once my mind say you know what
  123. 4:45let's not do this today I said well
  124. 4:47since we're my my mind went there I
  125. 4:50redirected and said just for having that
  126. 4:52weak thought we're gonna be on here for
  127. 4:55a while right so it does sort of sound
  128. 4:57like you're punishing part of your mind
  129. 5:00in a way punishment maybe not be the
  130. 5:03right word yeah I want my mind to know
  131. 5:06who's in
  132. 5:07charge so for the better part of 26
  133. 5:11years my mind was in charge of me yeah
  134. 5:14which is why I made all these horrible
  135. 5:16decisions once you take control of your
  136. 5:18mind you start making decisions for
  137. 5:21yourself versus your mind making
  138. 5:22decisions for you rule number three is
  139. 5:24reprogram your beliefs with Bruce Lipton
  140. 5:27what are the main limiting beliefs that
  141. 5:30you just hear consistently that most
  142. 5:32people tend to have if they're not in a
  143. 5:35have a higher level program that they've
  144. 5:39caught and switched with well one of the
  145. 5:41main beliefs that they're caught up in
  146. 5:43is the uh lack of power they feel over
  147. 5:46their own health and their own reality
  148. 5:48that I'm a victim I'm a victim of my
  149. 5:50genes I'm a victim of this world out
  150. 5:53here I say if you if a the belief system
  151. 5:57uh is translated into Behavior if I
  152. 6:00believe I'm a victim then my behavior
  153. 6:02will be as a victim no power you guys
  154. 6:06tell me what to do and I'll try and do
  155. 6:07what you just said and I say well that's
  156. 6:10the biggest problem of all because
  157. 6:11quantum physics I mentioned is a most
  158. 6:14valid science and principle number one
  159. 6:16is you're the creator of this it's like
  160. 6:18well when are you gonna own that and the
  161. 6:20answer is I could say it but then you
  162. 6:22walk away in a few minutes later you're
  163. 6:24back into your world again everything's
  164. 6:25gone you know listen took me a while uh
  165. 6:29I learn learned and understood that oh
  166. 6:31my God this is how it works and I was so
  167. 6:34excited I wanted to get people I wanted
  168. 6:36to tell anybody that listen to sence
  169. 6:38this is how it works so I I beginning
  170. 6:41got some people together and I started
  171. 6:43to go off let me tell you how to create
  172. 6:45the most beautiful life experience and
  173. 6:47then they'd look at me and they go you
  174. 6:48know lip in for a guy who says you know
  175. 6:51this your life doesn't look that good
  176. 6:54interesting it was my wakeup call that
  177. 6:56said how the can I talk about how Wonder
  178. 6:59ful this is and I'm not practicing it
  179. 7:03and I immediately said to myself no
  180. 7:06don't go out there and talk to anybody
  181. 7:07about this why until you do
  182. 7:09it so what were the what were the things
  183. 7:11that were holding you back before you've
  184. 7:15discovered this and then what was the
  185. 7:17new program that you started to
  186. 7:18implement for yourself on a consistent
  187. 7:21basis to have 100% upgraded program yeah
  188. 7:25well um one of the things professionally
  189. 7:27okay I was doing a great job I I had a
  190. 7:30great professorship in a medical school
  191. 7:32all that kind of stuff you know
  192. 7:34personally my life sucked really a
  193. 7:37relationship off the ground I go why not
  194. 7:39I go well now that I know about it I was
  195. 7:42programmed about relationships by
  196. 7:44observing my father and my mother well
  197. 7:47they had dysfunctional relationships so
  198. 7:48what do you think I downloaded
  199. 7:50dysfunction yeah so my conscious mind
  200. 7:52goes forward and says yeah I want to
  201. 7:53have a great relationship I get into it
  202. 7:56my subconscious mind steps up and says
  203. 7:58this is how we do a relation ship you oh
  204. 8:01uh oh game over you know why because I
  205. 8:05didn't see the negative behaviors that I
  206. 8:08was putting out my partner potential
  207. 8:11partner saw them and gave them cause for
  208. 8:14alarm I don't think I want to be with
  209. 8:16this guy you know that was me and then I
  210. 8:19realized that and that's when I really
  211. 8:22had to go in first thing and start to
  212. 8:24change who am I and I'll tell you the
  213. 8:26biggest problem now after years of
  214. 8:29working people do not love
  215. 8:33themselves and I said what does that
  216. 8:35mean I said if you have a program where
  217. 8:37you don't love yourself then rationally
  218. 8:40logically can anybody else love you the
  219. 8:43answer is no because you don't think
  220. 8:45you're lovable that's right somebody
  221. 8:47says you are that oh I love you and then
  222. 8:49you go well you know you probably don't
  223. 8:51have any quality control I know I'm not
  224. 8:53lovable what's wrong with you you know
  225. 8:55and then at some point you push them
  226. 8:56away and then they're not there then you
  227. 8:58go I'm not lovable nobody's here I I
  228. 9:03push them away you know and I changed
  229. 9:06that I was nearly what 45 years old 40
  230. 9:08some years old and I had zero quality
  231. 9:12relationships for all that life right I
  232. 9:15changed the program and within a couple
  233. 9:18of years I I'm now with my partner
  234. 9:20Margaret and and the fact is she was
  235. 9:23involved with a um workshop training
  236. 9:26program for people so she understood
  237. 9:28processing and stuff and when I came and
  238. 9:30we added the science and the processing
  239. 9:32uh we've been living a honeymoon for 26
  240. 9:37years really years waking up every day
  241. 9:39going wow still here another day for fun
  242. 9:43another day for being in love it was
  243. 9:45great and it still is but if I didn't
  244. 9:48change the program that would never have
  245. 9:51been part of my life at all I would have
  246. 9:52been my whole life struggling hi I'm
  247. 9:55Bruce Lon author of the bestselling
  248. 9:57books the biology belief spontaneous
  249. 9:59Evolution and the honeymoon effect I'm
  250. 10:01here to thank Evan carmichel for
  251. 10:03featuring me on his YouTube channel and
  252. 10:06I want to let you know that Evan is
  253. 10:07giving away links where you can watch
  254. 10:10the First episodes of my special Gaia
  255. 10:12series entitled inner Revolution for
  256. 10:15free Evan is making this offer to thank
  257. 10:18you for watching this video you will
  258. 10:20find the links in the description
  259. 10:22section below thank you rule number four
  260. 10:25is be mindful with Dr tarus wart are
  261. 10:27there things that I should be wary of as
  262. 10:30I continue to go down the path of the
  263. 10:32Law of Attraction and
  264. 10:33manifestation that you feel isn't
  265. 10:37supported by the
  266. 10:38science so I think there is an element
  267. 10:42of if some things work for
  268. 10:45you you may not need to know the science
  269. 10:48or if there is science behind it so for
  270. 10:51some people there are just some things
  271. 10:53that work and I'm not against that at
  272. 10:54all but the reason that I wrote my book
  273. 10:57is because I wanted to see an
  274. 11:00explanation of the law of attraction
  275. 11:01that was based on cognitive science
  276. 11:04which is basically the power of your
  277. 11:06mind
  278. 11:07because a I you know needed evidence as
  279. 11:10a scientist but B I wanted to
  280. 11:13feel the
  281. 11:16agency of influencing my own future and
  282. 11:20not relying on some external force that
  283. 11:23was intangible to me so I again I want
  284. 11:27to emphasize I'm not saying it's wrong
  285. 11:29to think that the universe is trying to
  286. 11:32help you or that there are vibrations or
  287. 11:34frequencies that attract things into
  288. 11:35your life I do think you have to be a
  289. 11:38kind loving grateful person for good
  290. 11:40things to happen to you and that if
  291. 11:43you're constantly saying um that's not
  292. 11:46going to work out for me that's probably
  293. 11:47going to be true um but I think that
  294. 11:52when you use Psychology and Neuroscience
  295. 11:55to explain that the way that you think
  296. 11:57the things that you believe the actions
  297. 11:59that you take in the world um impact
  298. 12:03your relationships impact your
  299. 12:05confidence in taking healthy risks
  300. 12:07impact your ability to move towards your
  301. 12:09goals that is very understandable and is
  302. 12:13supported by science so I would take
  303. 12:16that as the backbone of the way that you
  304. 12:18look at the Law of Attraction and maybe
  305. 12:20if there are some things around that
  306. 12:21that can't necessarily be explained by
  307. 12:24science that's okay rule number five is
  308. 12:27say no more with Lea
  309. 12:29saying that change has to be gradual is
  310. 12:32a fallacy I think it's just a matter
  311. 12:35of how strong is your motivation to
  312. 12:39change uh I think that change is gradual
  313. 12:41when there are there is less punishment
  314. 12:45remaining as is but when the punishment
  315. 12:47for remaining as is REM remain becomes
  316. 12:50so high that you just want to get away
  317. 12:52from it and in that moment when my dad
  318. 12:54said that to me compiled with looking at
  319. 12:56myself in the mirror I remember weighing
  320. 12:58myself the next morning um suddenly the
  321. 13:01punishment for remaining how I was was
  322. 13:04so high it felt unbearable it felt like
  323. 13:06it was no longer an option because I
  324. 13:08thought to
  325. 13:09myself what happens next so I've gained
  326. 13:1285 PBS what if I gain another 85 lbs
  327. 13:16yeah you know what I mean I've been
  328. 13:17arrested six times what's going to
  329. 13:19happen on the eighth or ninth time am I
  330. 13:20going to go to jail like these are all
  331. 13:23real questions I started asking myself
  332. 13:25after that conversation and I thought to
  333. 13:26myself like no more like I'm at a point
  334. 13:30now where this can really be put behind
  335. 13:31me you know this is not going to be on
  336. 13:33my record forever I can lose the weight
  337. 13:35now I'm young I have time I was like but
  338. 13:38if I wait much longer like this is my
  339. 13:40life and I think that was more
  340. 13:42terrifying than anything that the next
  341. 13:44day when I woke up I was like everything
  342. 13:48changes and I remember I had listened to
  343. 13:52Tony Robbins when I was younger you know
  344. 13:53he was kind of the guy you listen to for
  345. 13:54personal development he talked about you
  346. 13:56know shifting your identity and one
  347. 13:59thing that I took away from everything I
  348. 14:02read about him or read from him was
  349. 14:05actually to not have an identity to
  350. 14:08remain fluid and not identify with
  351. 14:10anything because I really just wanted to
  352. 14:13feel like whatever I need to
  353. 14:16become to be who I want to be to do what
  354. 14:19I want to do I will and if I label
  355. 14:21myself as anything else then one day it
  356. 14:24will hinder me and so in that moment I
  357. 14:26just decided I was like I no longer do
  358. 14:28any of this and now what I what I will
  359. 14:31do is I will engineer an environment
  360. 14:33where it makes it harder to remain the
  361. 14:36same Lea that I have been for the last 2
  362. 14:38years and easier to become the future
  363. 14:40Lea that I want to be and that was
  364. 14:41really my mentality was like how do I
  365. 14:43make it as easy as possible to become
  366. 14:47this person that I want to be rule
  367. 14:48number six is Adopt a growth mindset
  368. 14:50with Andrew huberman a fixed mindset
  369. 14:53versus a growth mindset you know fixed
  370. 14:56mindset is one in which you're trying to
  371. 14:58look smart that you're not so focused on
  372. 15:01effort that your response to setbacks is
  373. 15:04to give up you know and your academic
  374. 15:06and other forms of performance tends to
  375. 15:08be low whereas in a growth mindset your
  376. 15:10goal tends to be to learn you tend to
  377. 15:13Value effort more you tend to respond to
  378. 15:15setbacks by working harder and your
  379. 15:17performance is higher and I'm not trying
  380. 15:20to make light of these lists these lists
  381. 15:21are important because they help us
  382. 15:22organize our information and
  383. 15:24differentiate between a fixed versus
  384. 15:25growth mindset but they don't tell us
  385. 15:28why focusing on effort and engaging more
  386. 15:30effort would actually translate into
  387. 15:32higher performance for instance you
  388. 15:33could imagine a scenario where the exact
  389. 15:36opposite is true right we could make up
  390. 15:38a justo story where if your identity is
  391. 15:41so rigidly fixed to high performance
  392. 15:43you're likely to outwork everybody right
  393. 15:45that seems like a logical conclusion as
  394. 15:47well but that's not the way it plays out
  395. 15:50it's when your identity is attached to
  396. 15:53your sense of ability to engage in
  397. 15:55ongoing effort especially when you
  398. 15:58receive signals that you're getting
  399. 16:00things wrong or not performing well that
  400. 16:02is tied to elevated performance and the
  401. 16:05study using erps tells us that's likely
  402. 16:07to be the case because of how people who
  403. 16:10have a growth mindset Focus their
  404. 16:12attention when they're told nope you got
  405. 16:14that wrong or when people think they got
  406. 16:16something right right they give an
  407. 16:19answer and they say what's your
  408. 16:20confidence level and they say 90% maybe
  409. 16:2299% maybe even 100% they say it's wrong
  410. 16:26people who have a fixed mindset focus on
  411. 16:29the emotional response to that more of
  412. 16:31their brain resources are devoted to ah
  413. 16:33I got it wrong I thought I got it right
  414. 16:36then the people who have a growth
  415. 16:37mindset who are thinking wait okay then
  416. 16:39what was that answer and how could I
  417. 16:41possibly get that answer wrong I'm going
  418. 16:42to figure that out okay now as you're
  419. 16:45hearing this you're probably thinking oh
  420. 16:47no I'm somebody who reflexively gets
  421. 16:49disappointed when I get something wrong
  422. 16:51well fortunately this is not just about
  423. 16:53that 100 milliseconds to 5 seconds after
  424. 16:55you're told something is wrong you can
  425. 16:58shift from a fixed mindset to a growth
  426. 17:00mindset response in fact that's an
  427. 17:02important tool that we all need to learn
  428. 17:04how to implement we all suffer from
  429. 17:06fixed mindset all suffer from fixed
  430. 17:09mindset in certain Endeavors and when we
  431. 17:11get things wrong especially when there's
  432. 17:13some embarrassment or shame which often
  433. 17:15accompanies when we think we were very
  434. 17:17right we're convinced we're right that
  435. 17:19fixed mindset can really hijack our
  436. 17:22emotional response but there are a lot
  437. 17:25of data that point to the fact that at
  438. 17:27those moments if we think okay I'm going
  439. 17:29to step back from that and I'm going to
  440. 17:30just think about the error I'm going to
  441. 17:32think about what led to the error and
  442. 17:33I'm going to start devoting my
  443. 17:34attentional resources to that process
  444. 17:37that process itself can be built up over
  445. 17:39time such that we start to outweigh the
  446. 17:43fixed mindset with growth mindset simply
  447. 17:45by devoting our attentional resources to
  448. 17:48the error acknowledging it happened
  449. 17:50maybe feeling something about it maybe
  450. 17:52not it's really hard to control our
  451. 17:53feelings what we can control as I
  452. 17:55mentioned before is our effort and our
  453. 17:56attention so focusing our attention on
  454. 17:58why we got something wrong and really
  455. 18:01digging into that that's growth mindset
  456. 18:03in action so you'll notice as we have
  457. 18:05this discussion about the more
  458. 18:06mechanistic underpinnings of growth
  459. 18:08mindset is that we're not talking about
  460. 18:11psychological terms as much we're not
  461. 18:13talking about ego protection we're not
  462. 18:15talking about identity now all of those
  463. 18:18things are extremely important but the
  464. 18:20problem with things like ego protection
  465. 18:22and identity is that when we are faced
  466. 18:24with results that we don't want and we
  467. 18:26are faced with those results in a real
  468. 18:28World context like we're not getting the
  469. 18:30results we want in school in work in
  470. 18:33athletics in relationships Etc we hear
  471. 18:37these messages and we try to for
  472. 18:38instance you know set our ego aside or
  473. 18:41you know not attach our identity so much
  474. 18:43to what is happening but it's really
  475. 18:45really hard and it's really really hard
  476. 18:48because statements like set your ego
  477. 18:50aside or don't attach yourself to it so
  478. 18:52much are wonderful aspirations but
  479. 18:56there's no actual process that one can
  480. 18:58go through by oneself that allows you to
  481. 19:02immediately disentangle yourself from
  482. 19:03your ego so when you're faced with
  483. 19:05results that you don't like you can't
  484. 19:07simply step back nor should you expect
  485. 19:09yourself to be able to step back and say
  486. 19:10oh I'm I'm not going to get upset about
  487. 19:12this error right it makes perfect sense
  488. 19:13why you would get upset about not
  489. 19:15getting the results that you want
  490. 19:16however once you start to understand
  491. 19:18some of the mechanistic underpinnings of
  492. 19:20what will allow you to rescue your
  493. 19:23performance that is to start focusing on
  494. 19:25those errors from a more cognitive and a
  495. 19:28slightly less emotional stance or even a
  496. 19:30combination of emotional and cognitive
  497. 19:33right because it's very hard to suppress
  498. 19:34our emotional response to something but
  499. 19:36oftentimes we can enhance our
  500. 19:37attentional or cognitive response to
  501. 19:40Something in parallel with that and in
  502. 19:42doing so we can kind of Rob some of the
  503. 19:43emotional response and when we do that
  504. 19:47sort of thing it's hard and anytime we
  505. 19:49do hard things we generally want to know
  506. 19:51that the doing of those hard things is
  507. 19:53working that it's in service to
  508. 19:55something and number seven the last one
  509. 19:57before some very special bonus Clips is
  510. 19:59Master your mind with J shett how many
  511. 20:02of you feel like if you could master
  512. 20:03your mind that would sort your life out
  513. 20:05right like how many of how many of you
  514. 20:06think that the conversation happening in
  515. 20:07your mind is is slowing you down does my
  516. 20:10boss like me are they impressed by me
  517. 20:12does my manager understand me does my
  518. 20:14team really get me are we collaborative
  519. 20:16are we focused oh my God I'm tired today
  520. 20:18like all of that's all happening up here
  521. 20:21right so actually What's Happening Here
  522. 20:23is minimal so when you're making
  523. 20:25long-term plans it's like the best
  524. 20:27long-term plan can make is let me learn
  525. 20:29a lot all the time because if you're
  526. 20:31doing that then you'll never be thrown
  527. 20:33off but if we go this is how it's going
  528. 20:34to be I'm going to do this this is how
  529. 20:36it's going to work then you start
  530. 20:37limiting yourself and making your life
  531. 20:39harder so I'd say don't worry about that
  532. 20:42big elusive intangible purpose find your
  533. 20:45little micro purpose get working on it
  534. 20:47and let it teach you more and let it
  535. 20:49teach you more and guess what purpose is
  536. 20:50always evolving it's changing right it's
  537. 20:53it's not something that it's not
  538. 20:56something that you figure out and then
  539. 20:57that's it there's Nothing in life that
  540. 20:58you figure out that's it right don't
  541. 21:00wait for someone to spot your talents
  542. 21:02like don't wait for someone to come and
  543. 21:04find you and discover you be someone
  544. 21:06who's constantly displaying your
  545. 21:08strengths and putting them on show even
  546. 21:10if that's not your day job just
  547. 21:12constantly be doing that because the
  548. 21:13more you do that the more someone will
  549. 21:15spot you and the more you give someone
  550. 21:16an opportunity to do that don't try and
  551. 21:18defend your skills demonstrate them
  552. 21:21display them show them but at the same
  553. 21:23time I think it's our responsibility to
  554. 21:26pave our own path and it's our
  555. 21:28responsibility to take risks it's our
  556. 21:31responsibility to experiment we can't
  557. 21:33expect anyone to draw that path for us
  558. 21:35and you know you've got to take
  559. 21:36responsibility for every decision in
  560. 21:37your life and when you do it builds your
  561. 21:39confidence because you chose to do that
  562. 21:41and when you chose to do something you
  563. 21:43start valuing your opinion rather than
  564. 21:45always looking for someone to make the
  565. 21:47right decisions for you also to make
  566. 21:49sure you're actually taking action after
  567. 21:51watching this video I've designed a
  568. 21:53special free worksheet just for this

  573. 22:04the worksheet will also give you space
  574. 22:06to write down what your key takeaways
  575. 22:08are and your specific plan of action to
  576. 22:11make sure you're getting results if you
  577. 22:13want the worksheet designed specifically
  578. 22:15for this video absolutely for free
  579. 22:17there's a link in the description below
  580. 22:19go click on it and start building the
  581. 22:21momentum in your life and your business
  582. 22:23I'll see you
  583. 22:26there Excellence is the pursuit of
  584. 22:29perfection so we're never done what's
  585. 22:31the perfect interview what's the perfect
  586. 22:33question what's the perfect thumbnail
  587. 22:35who's the perfect guest what's like
  588. 22:36you're never done it's it's never done
  589. 22:40uh but that Pursuit is how we become
  590. 22:42excellent what's a perfect workout
  591. 22:44what's a perfect book again it's never
  592. 22:46done but in the pursuit you become more
  593. 22:48and more and more excellent and I think
  594. 22:49you'll see that across High Achievers
  595. 22:52nobody ever says they're done nobody
  596. 22:54ever says this is it it's perfect like
  597. 22:56there's always new things that you want
  598. 22:58to add and tweak and change and people
  599. 23:00to confer with and help um and always
  600. 23:03new problems to go off and solve and so
  601. 23:05it's it's getting dedicated to the
  602. 23:07process um and that you're getting
  603. 23:09better every day which is which is hard
  604. 23:12because that means you're going to fail
  605. 23:13and you're going to suck and you're
  606. 23:14going to make mistakes and you won't
  607. 23:15know uh until you get out there no
  608. 23:18matter how much market research you do
  609. 23:20you don't know till you start going off
  610. 23:21and do it no matter what recipe you
  611. 23:23follow or workout regimen you look at uh
  612. 23:26you never know until you start going on
  613. 23:28do it and people get overwhelmed by the
  614. 23:30options this is the problem you know if
  615. 23:32back to the world you came from with all
  616. 23:34of the fitness and diet and everything
  617. 23:36else it's like okay I'm going to you
  618. 23:37start with a goal of I want to get into
  619. 23:39a healthy weight right I I want to get
  620. 23:40down to my high school weight or
  621. 23:43university weight or whatever and that's
  622. 23:44a very clear tangible great goal like
  623. 23:48let's get healthy but then how do you do
  624. 23:49it do you go on the keto diet or the
  625. 23:52carnivore diet or the vegetarian diet or
  626. 23:54the vegan diet or the Mediterranean diet
  627. 23:57and and are you fasting intermittent
  628. 23:59fasting water fasting coffee fasting you
  629. 24:02know are you doing working out are you
  630. 24:05crossfitting are you yoga are you doing
  631. 24:07high intensity low int it's like it's
  632. 24:09just it's just this NeverEnding cycle of
  633. 24:11more and more and more things to learn
  634. 24:13where you will never learn everything
  635. 24:14it's impossible to know everything and
  636. 24:17so you need to just start and you learn
  637. 24:20more in the process of doing then you
  638. 24:22will just researching researching
  639. 24:24researching and like planning to get a
  640. 24:26plan uh and so that's what you find with
  641. 24:28the at least that's what I found with
  642. 24:29the world top Achievers is they have
  643. 24:32this North Star that they're shooting
  644. 24:33towards and that is a bold Noble
  645. 24:37excellent even perfect goal and then how
  646. 24:40you get there is super messy and very
  647. 24:43chaotic and full of mistakes but they're
  648. 24:46willing to go and make mistakes because
  649. 24:48the goal itself is Noble what do you
  650. 24:51think are the key things that abundant
  651. 24:55mindset people around money do
  652. 24:58differently than scarcity mindset people
  653. 25:00around money if you had to say three or
  654. 25:03five kind of key things
  655. 25:07they appreciate it as you said that that
  656. 25:10is a biggie they appreciate it and they
  657. 25:12speak about it as they love it they're
  658. 25:15not weird about it they're also generous
  659. 25:18with it because when you pinch yourself
  660. 25:20off from giving you that is sort of a
  661. 25:22subconscious way of saying there's not
  662. 25:24enough to go around and it's not going
  663. 25:25to I'm not in the flow so when you don't
  664. 25:27generously it's cuz you're scared that
  665. 25:29it's not going to come in anymore um
  666. 25:32they take risks you know you got to take
  667. 25:34risks you are where you are because
  668. 25:36you've been doing what you've been doing
  669. 25:37so if you want to change your life
  670. 25:39you've got to do stuff you've never
  671. 25:40done um what else wealthy people they
  672. 25:45learn about money like you you focus on
  673. 25:48money like that was such a big thing for
  674. 25:49me too like when I was broke I I never
  675. 25:51wanted to think about money right I was
  676. 25:52all about writing songs and you know
  677. 25:54doing much you know more noble things
  678. 25:57sure sure but then but when you're broke
  679. 25:59all you think about is money like I
  680. 26:01don't really think about money that much
  681. 26:02now that I have it like but every single
  682. 26:04decision you make when you're broke is
  683. 26:05about I have enough to pay for this can
  684. 26:07I afford it what happens if I don't have
  685. 26:08right you wake up in the first thing in
  686. 26:10the morning and a panic because you got
  687. 26:11to pay your bills so you're always
  688. 26:12thinking about money so it is really
  689. 26:15just sort of getting in the flow with
  690. 26:17that and just you know being on good
  691. 26:20terms with it and and focusing on it and
  692. 26:23and you know how are you going to make
  693. 26:25it like being realistic about your
  694. 26:26income streams and you know and if you
  695. 26:28want to make it you've got to coax it in
  696. 26:30you know 95% of your life is coming from
  697. 26:35observing the other people not observing
  698. 26:38you observing the other people and so
  699. 26:40your behavior isn't yours now Steve
  700. 26:44brings up the most important question
  701. 26:45well how do we change these behaviors
  702. 26:47and I go first of all you don't even
  703. 26:49know what the behaviors are because you
  704. 26:51weren't there when they were being
  705. 26:53programmed you I don't know what my
  706. 26:55behaviors are what what did you learn
  707. 26:58when you were in utero oh you don't know
  708. 27:00oh oh okay what did you learn during the
  709. 27:02year from zero to one oh oh you weren't
  710. 27:05there you don't remember oh what what
  711. 27:07did you learn from one to two and I'm
  712. 27:10saying your conscious mind wasn't
  713. 27:13working at that time so whatever
  714. 27:16happened it's not in your conscious mind
  715. 27:18and so the significance about all this
  716. 27:20is profound because what the
  717. 27:22significance is then you don't know your
  718. 27:26program you don't know your program and
  719. 27:29I go oh so what are my programs and now
  720. 27:33thank God I can tell you what your
  721. 27:34programs are because of this
  722. 27:3895% of your life is coming from the
  723. 27:42program your life is a print out of your
  724. 27:46programs you don't have to go backwards
  725. 27:48in your life you could just say where
  726. 27:51where am I today and here's a simple
  727. 27:52point so all of you out there ready the
  728. 27:55things that you like that come in into
  729. 27:57your life they come in because you have
  730. 28:00programs to acknowledge them but the
  731. 28:03things you want the things you desire
  732. 28:05and you have to work hard you have to
  733. 28:07sweat I'm GNA make it over I'm gonna
  734. 28:08sweat over this I'm putting a lot I'm
  735. 28:10putting a lot of effort I'm I'm working
  736. 28:11real hard to make
  737. 28:14this why you working so hard the answer
  738. 28:17is whatever that destination you were
  739. 28:19trying to get to your subconscious
  740. 28:22program does not support that
  741. 28:24destination and that's why your
  742. 28:26conscious mind mind is working so hard
  743. 28:29to get there so I say you got programs
  744. 28:33and you got them before you even knew
  745. 28:35you were being programmed and then we
  746. 28:38have to identify those programs because
  747. 28:40if you want to change your life and you
  748. 28:43want to make it one that has wishes
  749. 28:48and then you have to assess what are
  750. 28:51your programs now so that you can then
  751. 28:54change those programs and create the
  752. 28:56life you want
  753. 28:57this whole thing about abundance and
  754. 28:59attracting to yourself what it is that
  755. 29:02you want and how to use mantras and
  756. 29:03spirituality to make sure you have what
  757. 29:06you want true spirituality is about not
  758. 29:08wanting true spirituality is about being
  759. 29:11filled with joy from inside and then
  760. 29:13sharing that outside it's not about
  761. 29:15attracting to yourself what you want is
  762. 29:18there a law of attraction people ask me
  763. 29:19is there a law of attraction yes and you
  764. 29:21better be scared of it because if it's
  765. 29:23true that you attract what your mind is
  766. 29:24thinking you better take a look at what
  767. 29:26your mind is thinking
  768. 29:28it's not only when you're sitting there
  769. 29:29trying to attract something to yourself
  770. 29:31with affirmation what about your mind
  771. 29:33all day when it's complaining and it's
  772. 29:34yelling to people and it doesn't like
  773. 29:36stuff what if you're attracting that way
  774. 29:38so you eventually catch on that it is
  775. 29:41not about getting what you want it is
  776. 29:43about learning to find out that what you
  777. 29:45really want is to stay open and not have
  778. 29:48conditions on that openness and then it
  779. 29:50comes down to how do you do that are
  780. 29:52people capable of doing that or is that
  781. 29:54just reserve for you know some special
  782. 29:56beings Buddha and Christ that have
  783. 29:58walked the face of the Earth everybody
  784. 30:01is capable of that how do I know that if
  785. 30:04I tell you to pick up 5,000 PS you may
  786. 30:08not be able to do that in fact you won't
  787. 30:10you won't be able to do that so I've
  788. 30:12told you to do something that you have
  789. 30:14never done and you're not doing it so
  790. 30:16you may not be able to do it but if
  791. 30:18you're actually already doing something
  792. 30:21you're already doing it and I tell you
  793. 30:23not to do it you're always capable of
  794. 30:26that because you're the one who's doing
  795. 30:27it so inside you are the one who's
  796. 30:31closing your heart you close it you are
  797. 30:34the one who's closing your mind you do
  798. 30:36that they're your thoughts it's your
  799. 30:38feelings there's nobody else's so you
  800. 30:40are in there doing these things so if I
  801. 30:43tell you the way to stay open is to not
  802. 30:45close I don't teach how to stay open
  803. 30:48that's more like finding out how to get
  804. 30:50what you want I'm interested in you
  805. 30:52learning to not close but a difference
  806. 30:56if I say to you I I want you to open
  807. 30:57your heart right now you wouldn't even
  808. 30:59know how to start but if I say to you
  809. 31:01somebody says something you don't like
  810. 31:03don't close you know where to start
  811. 31:06right because it's happening inside of
  812. 31:07you and you see the tendency to do it
  813. 31:10all I'm asking you to do is don't do
  814. 31:11that and I'm telling you that will take
  815. 31:13you the whole way don't worry about
  816. 31:15opening worry about not closing there
  817. 31:17are going to be events that unfold in
  818. 31:19your life that naturally open you a
  819. 31:21beautiful sunset a bird singing
  820. 31:23sometimes you get what your mind wants
  821. 31:25all right you open great nothing wrong
  822. 31:27with that don't close how come it only
  823. 31:29last a minute how come you see a
  824. 31:31beautiful sunset you feel like oh my God
  825. 31:33I looked into the face of God then you
  826. 31:35go right back into your mind with all
  827. 31:36your problems why why don't you learn to
  828. 31:39not close once you get some openness
  829. 31:42start to work with yourself to not close
  830. 31:45and this is how to get what you really
  831. 31:47want the teach the Deep spiritual
  832. 31:49teachings are really teaching you how to
  833. 31:50get what you want because what you want
  834. 31:52is to feel love and joy and happiness
  835. 31:54all the time and so if you can get that
  836. 31:56from within in you then can share it
  837. 31:59this is like the ultimate secret like
  838. 32:00the secret to all productivity is to
  839. 32:02find a way to make the process feel
  840. 32:03enjoyable if you can just do that you
  841. 32:05know you enjoy doing podcast episodes
  842. 32:07this is why you've been able to continue
  843. 32:08doing it for literally 10 plus years and
  844. 32:091500 episodes I enjoy making videos
  845. 32:11making YouTube videos not every aspect
  846. 32:14of that is enjoyable and certainly there
  847. 32:15are days where I don't enjoy it you
  848. 32:17clearly enjoy working out more than I do
  849. 32:18which is why you're in better shape than
  850. 32:19I am you know there's something there's
  851. 32:21something about the process that you
  852. 32:22found a way to make fun and so my whole
  853. 32:25journey of productivity is has been to
  854. 32:27try and figure out what are the ways
  855. 32:28that we can make make that we have to do
  856. 32:30a little bit more fun and I've pretty
  857. 32:32much boil it down to three things play
  858. 32:35power and people the three PS I call
  859. 32:37them the three energizers play power and
  860. 32:39people and if you can incorporate some
  861. 32:42or you know some of these into whatever
  862. 32:44you're doing I guarantee it will be way
  863. 32:47more enjoyable and you'll have more fun
  864. 32:49along the way it'll be more sustainable
  865. 32:50it'll be more energizing you'll be more
  866. 32:51productive you'll be more creative
  867. 32:52you'll be less stressed all the good
  868. 32:53things will happen can you give an
  869. 32:54example of each one what that looks like
  870. 32:56for something that you don't enjoy doing
  871. 32:59yeah and how you incorporate these three
  872. 33:00energizers sure so let's use a business
  873. 33:03example cuz I know a lot of your
  874. 33:04audience wants to want to do business um
  875. 33:06when I started my first business well my
  876. 33:08first successful business it was
  877. 33:09actually my eighth business um this was
  878. 33:12sort of selling selling real life
  879. 33:14seminars to get help people get into med
  880. 33:15school we would use Eventbrite for like
  881. 33:18the ticketing and then I would have to
  882. 33:19figure out how to get that into like a
  883. 33:21Google sheet and there was a lot of AD
  884. 33:24admin involved in like Google sheet
  885. 33:25formulas and making sure the emails are
  886. 33:28being sent on time and making sure that
  887. 33:30like the logistics of ordering course
  888. 33:32booklets have been sent to the hotel in
  889. 33:34time for the event and that DHL doesn't
  890. 33:36up the delivery like they often do
  891. 33:38whatever the thing might be a lot of
  892. 33:40boring admin work that require just
  893. 33:41sending a lot of emails and being on the
  894. 33:43phone with hotels this is not my skill
  895. 33:44set I do not enjoy admin I don't think I
  896. 33:46think very few people actually there are
  897. 33:47some people I know who just love
  898. 33:48organizing things love admin I
  899. 33:49absolutely hated that stuff so I was
  900. 33:51like how do I find a way to make this a
  901. 33:53little bit more fun so play power in
  902. 33:55people play is when we find a way to
  903. 33:58approach our work in the spirit of play
  904. 34:01um unfortunately these are only
  905. 34:03strategies strategies I discovered later
  906. 34:04I wish I discovered them when their
  907. 34:06first business as well because that was
  908. 34:07a bit of a grind but if I had if I were
  909. 34:09to have that situation now how might I
  910. 34:11approach that in the spirit of play
  911. 34:13sometimes even just asking that question
  912. 34:14is enough um but generally play is where
  913. 34:18one of one of the things that stops play
  914. 34:20from happening is when the stakes feel
  915. 34:22too high so like Roger feder is not
  916. 34:24feeling playful when he's playing witon
  917. 34:26finals especially when he's defending
  918. 34:27his title that's a high stake situation
  919. 34:30they've done really some really cool
  920. 34:32studies in brats where they um you know
  921. 34:35rats like often play with each other and
  922. 34:37they'll measure how many times they're
  923. 34:38playing with like you know biting the
  924. 34:40nape of the neck and like gramming
  925. 34:41around and doing all
  926. 34:42that and then they will inject the rats
  927. 34:46with uh adrenaline or cortisol like
  928. 34:48stress hormones uh or they'll like
  929. 34:50stress the rat out a little bit by
  930. 34:51putting them in a cage for a bit and
  931. 34:52then taking the cage off and they'll see
  932. 34:54what happens to play behavior and
  933. 34:55unsurprisingly when a rat is stressed
  934. 34:58the play Behavior gets reduced people
  935. 35:00don't play when they're stressed it's
  936. 35:01like when you're stressed you're like
  937. 35:03survival mode like what yeah you you
  938. 35:05very much narrow your range of options
  939. 35:07you get laser focused and you start
  940. 35:10taking things very seriously and it
  941. 35:11tends to drain your energy and it's not
  942. 35:13fun MH so one of the big things is like
  943. 35:15how do we make this thing feels feel
  944. 35:17less stressful how do we lower the
  945. 35:18stakes and one of my favorite phrases um
  946. 35:22my mindset shift is from the philosopher
  947. 35:24Alan Watts and something that he says is
  948. 35:26be sincere not serious and I think a lot
  949. 35:29of us when you know when I was doing my
  950. 35:31admin for this Google Sheets and like
  951. 35:33the all this taking it very seriously
  952. 35:35I'm like oh my God if this email doesn't
  953. 35:36get sent out then all these people are
  954. 35:37going to be unhappy it's like what
  955. 35:40what's going to happen is going to
  956. 35:41happen either way I can choose to
  957. 35:43approach it very seriously or I can
  958. 35:45approach it sincerely sincerely is where
  959. 35:47I recognize that this is an important
  960. 35:48thing but I also recognized huh it's not
  961. 35:50the end of the world I can I I can just
  962. 35:52choose to approach it with a bit more
  963. 35:54lightness and ease cuz the thing is
  964. 35:56whenever realized about productivity is
  965. 35:58that and and life is that a lot of our
  966. 36:01experience is about the the story We
  967. 36:03Tell ourselves and the thing that we
  968. 36:05focus on if you if if I'm telling myself
  969. 36:07the story that this thing I have to do
  970. 36:09is enormously important oh my God I'm on
  971. 36:10this podcast such high stakes L is such
  972. 36:12a big audience oh my God I hav said the
  973. 36:14right thing oh yeah I go into myself
  974. 36:16it's less fun it's for everyone I'm not
  975. 36:18going to be in flow but generally if you
  976. 36:21know anyone watching this or listening
  977. 36:22to this if you think of the times where
  978. 36:23you've performed the best it's probably
  979. 36:25been when you've been in flow when
  980. 36:26you've been feeling good when you've
  981. 36:27been feeling energized I mean what about
  982. 36:28what the stakes are high though like
  983. 36:30when there is life or death when you are
  984. 36:32a doctor and you've got to deliver a
  985. 36:33baby or something happens we're like I
  986. 36:35can't just be like goofing around and
  987. 36:37playing the whole time I've got to
  988. 36:38actually take my time seriously and show
  989. 36:41credibility and even then so I've been
  990. 36:45in operating theaters quite a lot in
  991. 36:46life and death open heart surgery brain
  992. 36:47surgery obstetrics baby m mom bleeding
  993. 36:49out all that I was doing in medic school
  994. 36:51I was doing as as a
  995. 36:53doctor even when life and death is in
  996. 36:55the balance one thing that interesting
  997. 36:57is in operating rooms there's often
  998. 36:59upbeat background music playing because
  999. 37:01surgeons realize and the staff in
1000. 37:03working in the theater realize that
1001. 37:04actually having background music and
1002. 37:06having that sense of like lightness and
1003. 37:08ease when it comes to even when life and
1004. 37:10death is hanging in the balance actually
1005. 37:11helps you perform better wow it's like
  1006. 37:13surgeons are cracking jokes when they're
  1007. 37:14in the middle of life-saving operations
1008. 37:16they're sort of being sort of friendly
1009. 37:17and smile like the good surgeons they
1010. 37:19have to be if you're like tense and
  1011. 37:21rigid you're going to be you're probably
  1012. 37:22more prone to make a mistake I've worked
1013. 37:24with so many surgeons who are like that
  1014. 37:25and the you know there's a there's
1015. 37:27screaming at you give me this and give
  1016. 37:29me this you're like ah you're it's
1017. 37:30terrible and and then I think this was
1018. 37:32in the checklist Manifesto by at gande
1019. 37:35talking about like um human factors
1020. 37:37errors in hospitals where like the
1021. 37:39surgeon's operating on the wrong leg but
1022. 37:41no one wants to say anything because the
  1023. 37:42environment is like a stress and
  1024. 37:44everyone everyone's thinking I'm I'm
1025. 37:46pretty sure you were meant to amputate
1026. 37:47the right leg not the left leg but like
  1027. 37:50oh no I I can't say anything because
1028. 37:52it's the big boss so it's when you have
1029. 37:54this atmosphere of like high stakes and
  1030. 37:55pressure and stress
1031. 37:57it's mental this is why now there's
  1032. 37:59checklists in operations where it's like
1033. 38:01Mark the leg with a sharpie are you
1034. 38:03operating on the right limb make sure
  1035. 38:05the patient knows you're operating on
1036. 38:07that limb because they'll tell you if
1037. 38:08you're not a lot of it there there there
1038. 38:11are so many instances where when we feel
  1039. 38:13pressured and stressed we actually don't
1040. 38:15perform very well and we don't raise
1041. 38:17concerns when concerns need to be raised
1042. 38:19so having a light hotted atmosphere you
1043. 38:21know some surgeons scrub nurses will
1044. 38:23wear like a rainbow colored SC scrub cap
1045. 38:26because it justes up lighten it up so
1046. 38:29even when life and death is in the
1047. 38:30balance lightening it up is actually the
1048. 38:31way to perform better interesting okay
1049. 38:33beat sincere but not serious exactly
1050. 38:36okay the other thing on play you know
1051. 38:37one thing I really loved very practical
1052. 38:39thing back when I at the moment I'm like
1053. 38:41digital nomading around the world and so
  1054. 38:42I don't have a desk but when I used to
  1055. 38:44have a desk with a computer monitor on
  1056. 38:45it I had a Post-It note on the bottom of
1057. 38:47my monitor and on that Post-It note was
1058. 38:49written what would this look like if it
1059. 38:50were fun what would this look like if it
1060. 38:53were fun anyone can do this if you if
1061. 38:55you are ever doing any anything at all
1062. 38:57and you find yourself feeling stressed
1063. 38:58or feeling anxious or feeling like uh
1064. 39:01the stakes are too high or like I want
1065. 39:02to be more productive at this thing but
  1066. 39:03it's it's really hard or procrastinating
1067. 39:05you take a step back you take a breath
1068. 39:07and you ask yourself what would this
1069. 39:09look like if it were fun and usually you
1070. 39:11can come up with some pretty good
  1071. 39:13answers maybe I'd have some background
  1072. 39:14music maybe I'd lighten up a bit maybe
1073. 39:17I'd I don't know bring bring some of my
1074. 39:19friends along for the ride maybe I'll
1075. 39:21take just choose to take it a little bit
1076. 39:22less seriously um there's so much value
1077. 39:27in lowering the stakes the key the most
1078. 39:30successful people what they focus on is
  1079. 39:32not time management it's priority
1080. 39:35management they manage their priorities
1081. 39:38they get really good at the things that
1082. 39:41matter every single day now how can you
1083. 39:45apply this again well some of the most
1084. 39:47successful people out there yes they
  1085. 39:50have a to-do list but you're not going
  1086. 39:51to get through that 200 300 whatever the
1087. 39:54amount of items that's gross on your
1088. 39:56to-do list every single day but what are
1089. 39:59the three or four things on that list
1090. 40:01that will give you a big win so when you
1091. 40:03came home at the end of the day and
1092. 40:05somebody asks you how was your day
  1093. 40:07you're like I crushed it I won today
1094. 40:10because I got those few things done
  1095. 40:12another thing I noticed with working
1096. 40:14with high performers High mental
1097. 40:17Achievers is they have a not Todo list
1098. 40:20they're very clear about the things
1099. 40:22they're not going to spend time with
1100. 40:24because you have to say no to good to
  1101. 40:26say yes to Great there's a great book
  1102. 40:29which I recommend many as you've noticed
1103. 40:31good to Great by Jim Collins basically
1104. 40:34saying that if you're tired and burnt
1105. 40:36out maybe you're saying yes to way too
1106. 40:39many things and it's like having too
1107. 40:41many browsers open on your computer even
1108. 40:44if you minimize them it's still taking
1109. 40:46up memory it's still taking up energy
1110. 40:49it's still taking up some unconscious
1111. 40:51focus and awareness and you wonder why
1112. 40:53you're tired all the time or you wonder
1113. 40:55why you can't can't focus so you want to
1114. 40:58say no to a lot of things so you can say
1115. 41:00yes to the things that matter part of
1116. 41:03your filter could be heck yes or heck no
1117. 41:07if you get an opportunity and somebody
1118. 41:08comes to you and say hey what about this
1119. 41:10or hey do you want to grab a dinner here
1120. 41:12or what about this opportunity if you
  1121. 41:15don't feel fullon that it's a heck yes
1122. 41:18maybe you should be saying heck no and
1123. 41:21you want to say no more than you say Yes
1124. 41:23And as you become more and more
  1125. 41:25successful that Bec comes a challenge
1126. 41:27because you have opportunity stress
1127. 41:29right the more you grow the more you
1128. 41:31succeed the more opportunities and
1129. 41:33offers that come your way but you want
1130. 41:36to remain focused and how do you do this
1131. 41:40well I always suggest to people start
1132. 41:42with this the most important thing is to
1133. 41:46keep the most important thing the most
1134. 41:49important thing when you look at a word
  1135. 41:51like priorities it's only been plural
1136. 41:54like multiples over the past three
1137. 41:57decades the past few decades prior to
1138. 42:00that it was always singular it was
1139. 42:02always priority priority is the one
1140. 42:05thing that matters in your life or in
1141. 42:08your work or in your relationship or in
1142. 42:11your health but as we grow right and
1143. 42:14technology and we have all these demands
  1144. 42:16everything becomes important it's kind
  1145. 42:18of like somebody who's reading and
1146. 42:20they're highlighting everything so the
1147. 42:22book glows in the dark that's not what
1148. 42:24you want to do because if you make
  1149. 42:25everything important when you're
  1150. 42:27learning and you're studying and you're
1151. 42:29thinking in your life then nothing
1152. 42:31becomes important if people out there
1153. 42:33think that the moment you start
1154. 42:35achieving some success that things are
1155. 42:36going to get easier it gets worse it
1156. 42:39there are more opportunities and
1157. 42:40therefore your structure gets disrupted
1158. 42:41more email more texts come in more
  1159. 42:44amazing possible relationships and
1160. 42:46places to eat and things to do it
1161. 42:47actually starts to undermine the whole
  1162. 42:50process if you're not careful I have a
1163. 42:51list and now I make it every day because
1164. 42:54when I just put it next to me and I
1165. 42:55didn't write it out it didn't work but
1166. 42:57like it literally starts dog walk number
1167. 43:00one get sun I mean like really basic
1168. 43:03stuff you know get sunlight then I do a
1169. 43:0490minut work block which means I use the
1170. 43:09program freedom on the computer no
1171. 43:11internet no phone I turn off the phone I
1172. 43:13put it in my car sometimes it's really
  1173. 43:16bad I mean the phone is it's it's such a
1174. 43:18pull ask me for some code to get into
  1175. 43:21something and then I think I need the
  1176. 43:22phone next thing I'm doing something
  1177. 43:23else so 90-minute work block but what's
1178. 43:27beautiful is that the nervous system and
1179. 43:30I don't know the underlying basis of
1180. 43:31this but the nervous system has this
1181. 43:34feature to it where when we take the the
1182. 43:38chaos of choice and we restrict
1183. 43:41ourselves to one of those choices you
1184. 43:44get a neurochemical payoff and it comes
1185. 43:46in the form of dopamine but there's
1186. 43:49something about activities that are
1187. 43:52forced restriction to one particular
1188. 43:56Focus right so I'm going to write for 90
1189. 43:58minutes or I'm going to um think for 90
1190. 44:02minutes or I'm just going to walk the
  1191. 44:05dog I I live in an area now where I
1192. 44:07don't get reception on my dog walks and
1193. 44:08at first it was excruciating I love it
1194. 44:10now it's like I just walk the dog and
  1195. 44:12there's mornings I have a bulldog he
1196. 44:14does not like to walk so I'm like I got
  1197. 44:16to get back and I'm frustrated and I
  1198. 44:18know and it's hilarious right because I
1199. 44:20notice myself and the way that my my um
1200. 44:24trip wire to agitation is so slight I'm
1201. 44:27like one of these people I can just in a
  1202. 44:29second I'm I'm aggravated because it's
1203. 44:31not happening as quickly and so I've
1204. 44:32learned to make the whole walk a process
1205. 44:34of me just like recognizing these
1206. 44:37features of myself and my Bulldog
1207. 44:40Costello just PLS along he didn't care
1208. 44:41less right so the walk is very it's only
1209. 44:44about walking the dog and the the email
1210. 44:48if it's email is only about checking
  1211. 44:50email right and there's something
1212. 44:53valuable to this and I think the brain
1213. 44:55loves this when we give it this and the
1214. 44:58Brain unfortunately is also happy to
1215. 45:01just take a schoras borg of of you know
1216. 45:03pseudo random thoughts and actions all
1217. 45:06day every day but there's something so
1218. 45:09deeply satisfying about focus and um I
1219. 45:13think we could all uh benefit from doing
1220. 45:17more of that it's just so hard to do and
1221. 45:20I'm not an antiphone guy I'm from
  1222. 45:22Silicon Valley I use the phone I'm
  1223. 45:24addicted to my phone I admit it I'm
1224. 45:25addict to my phone but I'm trying really
  1225. 45:27hard to cultivate a different
1226. 45:29relationship to it because I think that
  1227. 45:32uh in now that it's 2021 I think looking
  1228. 45:35back phones we've had them for about 10
1229. 45:37years there are so many examples of ways
1230. 45:39in which they erode our best
1231. 45:42relationship to life so many ways that I
1232. 45:46don't think we should get rid of them
1233. 45:47but I think we really need to start
1234. 45:48being conscious of of the ways in which
1235. 45:50they are eroding our productivity our
  1236. 45:53creativity our relationships
  1237. 45:56and I don't have any obvious answers to
1238. 45:58this I just have tools that I use um and
1239. 46:00that I've found to be of benefit but I
1240. 46:02think in the next 5 years we are going
1241. 46:03to see a shift toward people really
1242. 46:08moving away from from phones in um as
1243. 46:11much as we use them now Deborah says
1244. 46:13what about complaining about things that
1245. 46:15genuinely take time to resolve like I'm
  1246. 46:19getting over being
  1247. 46:20sick let me ask you a
1248. 46:23question does complaining about being
1249. 46:27sick actually help you get
  1250. 46:30better it's a fair
  1251. 46:32question you're allowed to complain if
1252. 46:35it's productive if it makes you feel
  1253. 46:38better to
1254. 46:43go and saying it is helpful
1255. 46:49terrific if doing that makes you feel
1256. 46:53even worse try not to do do
1257. 46:56it say things like boy I'm on day three
  1258. 46:59of this I must be getting
1259. 47:01better boy uh the meds are going to kick
  1260. 47:03in at any
1261. 47:04moment you know when it starts Chris is
1262. 47:07looking at me like what are you talking
1263. 47:08about no it's just somebody mentioned do
1264. 47:11thoughts count you know this outbound
1265. 47:13sort of out outward complaining but then
1266. 47:15there's complaining in your own mind of
1267. 47:17course thoughts count because you know
1268. 47:19what you complain about the most
1269. 47:21yourself your body your intelligence
1270. 47:26what you just said the fact that you
1271. 47:29didn't go to the gym the fact that you
1272. 47:30didn't uh do what you said you were
1273. 47:32going to do the beating yourself up is a
  1274. 47:35form of complaining because you're
  1275. 47:37expressing
  1276. 47:38dissatisfaction for
1277. 47:40yourself and the problem with all this
1278. 47:44is that when you do it habitually or
1279. 47:47when you complain as just a default mode
  1280. 47:51and you don't realize how much you're
1281. 47:52doing it you're allowing your mind to
1282. 47:56filter the world a certain way and
1283. 47:58you're allowing yourself to live in
1284. 48:01existence where your own thoughts are
1285. 48:04poisonous if you feel like hell and you
1286. 48:06got the flu and you've just thrown up in
1287. 48:08the toilet complain all you want vent
1288. 48:10all you want you just earned that but at
1289. 48:13some point you're going to have to stop
1290. 48:17feeding the monster and putting poison
1291. 48:20in your own mind and you're going to
1292. 48:21have to teach yourself how to start to
1293. 48:23find Milestones that are positive so
1294. 48:27that you can become healthier so that
1295. 48:30you can change how you think how you
1296. 48:32create a better life with goal setting
1297. 48:34because goal setting from this point
1298. 48:36forward must be a part of your life if
1299. 48:39you want to feel a greater sense of
1300. 48:41purpose and meaning period and so I want
1301. 48:45you to come back to this episode I want
1302. 48:47you to bookmark it I want you to share
1303. 48:49this with people that you care about if
  1304. 48:52you've got somebody like I do who's a
1305. 48:54college senior and and as they approach
1306. 48:56graduation and they start to feel like
1307. 48:58they're about to have a quarter life
1308. 49:00crisis and they're lost you know what
1309. 49:01they need they need goals if you have a
1310. 49:04friend going through divorce you know
1311. 49:05what they need they need goals if you're
1312. 49:07bored in Life or feeling stuck or you
1313. 49:10got to hit the reinvention button you
1314. 49:12know what you need you need goals and
1315. 49:15you can relisten to this every single
1316. 49:18quarter at any moment in your life and
1317. 49:20walk yourself through this very simple
  1318. 49:23but powerful and life-changing research
1319. 49:26to get very clear about what you want
1320. 49:30and why you want it and how you're going
1321. 49:32to go achieve it now speaking about the
1322. 49:34how you want to know how habits are how
1323. 49:39you achieve goals systems are how you
1324. 49:43make it easier I show up here because I
  1325. 49:45do believe in you you I don't care
1326. 49:47what's happened to you you cannot
1327. 49:48convince me that you cannot change I
1328. 49:51have way too much evidence on my side
1329. 49:53you only have your experience I've got
  1330. 49:56an army of a million people that I've
1331. 49:57seen change and so I know you can change
1332. 50:01because I know you can take the
1333. 50:03actions to make your mind a better place
1334. 50:07you can take the actions to make your
1335. 50:10life feel better you can take the
1336. 50:12actions to improve your relationship
1337. 50:15with yourself and this is the most
1338. 50:17exciting part this is the thing I am
1339. 50:19working on myself day in and day out you
1340. 50:23can take the actions that reclaim your
1341. 50:26brain that reprogram your mind and that
1342. 50:30make your mindset and your thoughts work
1343. 50:33for you I mean all this is made up that
  1344. 50:36we're saying
1345. 50:37anyway so if you can think bad thoughts
  1346. 50:40why not think good
1347. 50:41ones does it actually make you happy to
1348. 50:43tell yourself that you suck and that
  1349. 50:45there's something wrong with
1350. 50:46you and is it even
1351. 50:50true so if you can make that crap up if
1352. 50:52you can adopt what somebody else says
1353. 50:54about can't you make up your own of
1354. 50:55course you can if you struggle with
  1355. 50:57being kind to
1356. 50:59yourself it is never too early or too
1357. 51:02late to have an enormous breakthrough in
1358. 51:04your relationship to yourself and this
  1359. 51:07is really important it's really
1360. 51:09important because based on the research
1361. 51:11there was this massive study done in the
1362. 51:13UK where they took a look at absolutely
1363. 51:16every single Behavior or attitude change
1364. 51:19you could make or you could practice in
1365. 51:21terms of improving your life and they
1366. 51:23looked at everything they looked at
1367. 51:24changing your diet practicing gratitude
  1368. 51:27having a meditation practice exercising
1369. 51:29regularly seeing your friends more all
1370. 51:31the things that we know we should be
1371. 51:33doing right but do you know that the
1372. 51:37single Behavior change that has the
1373. 51:40biggest and most profound impact on your
  1374. 51:42quality of your day-to-day life is
  1375. 51:45simply being kinder to
  1376. 51:47yourself yeah that's right according to
1377. 51:50the research being kinder to yourself
1378. 51:52learning how to accept and love yourself
1379. 51:54it is the biggest mover in terms of your
1380. 51:57happiness meaning confidence all of it
1381. 52:00and the sad thing about the study is
1382. 52:02that habit of being kinder to yourself
1383. 52:05of accepting yourself of loving yourself
1384. 52:07it's the one we practice the least the
1385. 52:105c rule leverages proven principles in
1386. 52:13modern psychology and there are
  1387. 52:15literally hundreds of examples that I
1388. 52:16could point to first let's talk about
1389. 52:18two concepts one called locus of control
1390. 52:22the second called a bias toward action
  1391. 52:24so a locus of control is a foundational
1392. 52:27principle in Psychology you should
1393. 52:28Google it back in the day researchers
1394. 52:31figured out that there are basically two
1395. 52:33kinds of people people that believe that
1396. 52:35they're in control of their lives and
1397. 52:37folks that believe that life is just
  1398. 52:39happening to them and they're a victim
1399. 52:41of whatever might happen now when you
1400. 52:43look at these two types of people people
1401. 52:45that have an internal Locust of control
1402. 52:48a belief that they're in control of
  1403. 52:50their lives they're happier they're more
1404. 52:52successful more productive so the
1405. 52:54question question becomes how do you
1406. 52:57create an internal locus of control in
  1407. 53:00yourself the answer is simple it's
  1408. 53:03called a bias toward action so a bias
  1409. 53:06toward action is a psychological
1410. 53:08principle that means you're the kind of
1411. 53:11person that has a bias toward taking
1412. 53:13action instead of a bias toward thinking
1413. 53:17how do you create a bias toward action
  1414. 53:19you guessed it the 5-c rule the 5-second
1415. 53:23rule is a tool that will teach you how
1416. 53:25to take action and over time as you use
1417. 53:28it you not only learn how to take action
1418. 53:30you become the kind of person that
  1419. 53:31operates with a bias toward taking
1420. 53:34action and when you take action over and
1421. 53:37over and over on your instincts on your
1422. 53:40desires on your commitments guess what
1423. 53:43you get you build an internal locus of
1424. 53:45control you become the kind of person
1425. 53:49that believes that you're in control of
1426. 53:50your life because you're proving it to
  1427. 53:53yourself one 5 second decision at a time
1428. 53:56and the other thing you have to
1429. 53:58understand is that there are going to be
1430. 54:00legs of your journey in life and this is
1431. 54:01one of the hardest things where people
1432. 54:03are going to pull off and take a
  1433. 54:05different route that's okay they may
1434. 54:07come back at another time that's okay
1435. 54:11and you know the final thing that I
1436. 54:15wanted to say about this is it's a very
1437. 54:18simple exercise that you can do with
1438. 54:20somebody and this helps somebody who is
1439. 54:25either struggling with happiness and
1440. 54:26doesn't know how to get started or is
  1441. 54:28struggling with
1442. 54:29confidence and is not able to take
1443. 54:33action or who is resisting the changes
1444. 54:39that you are doing and you would love to
  1445. 54:41see them
1446. 54:42do we did this with our daughter who uh
1447. 54:46is now 23 and last summer when she
  1448. 54:48graduated from college really unhappy I
1449. 54:51mean two years of college had been
1450. 54:53imploded and she was extremely depressed
1451. 54:55and basically just drank her way through
1452. 54:58it and graduated and was not happy big
1453. 55:03life change nothing was going according
1454. 55:05to plan she had planned this huge trip
1455. 55:06to go to Cambodia and do a big service
1456. 55:08trip for four months that wasn't going
  1457. 55:10to happen just
1458. 55:12lost and so Chris and I sat with her for
1459. 55:16a couple hours and then I said and she's
  1460. 55:18like I don't know what to do I'm 22 I'm
  1461. 55:20stuck I'm miserable I don't even know
1462. 55:21how to start and I said I actually think
  1463. 55:22you do I think you're just scared
1464. 55:25take out a blank piece of paper draw a
1465. 55:28line down the center on the left hand
1466. 55:31side I want you to write happy me now
  1467. 55:35close your
1468. 55:36eyes and think about a time that you
1469. 55:41remember being happy or more confident
1470. 55:45or Alive it could be any word you want
1471. 55:48right and you might have to go back to
1472. 55:51Childhood our daughter closed her eyes
1473. 55:53and she said it was senior year in high
1474. 55:55school and I said okay so write down all
1475. 56:01of the things that you were doing in a
1476. 56:04week of your life senior year in high
1477. 56:06school just describe your life for me oh
1478. 56:09I got up and and do it in detail
  1479. 56:11everybody I got up at 7:00 a.m. or 6:30
1480. 56:14I was leaving the house by 7:00 I was
1481. 56:16with my friends all day I was looking
1482. 56:18forward to go to college I was playing
  1483. 56:20varsity lacrosse I was exercising 6 days
1484. 56:22a week I was only partying with friends
  1485. 56:25twice a week I you know was in a healthy
  1486. 56:28dating relationship I ate four dinners a
  1487. 56:32night at home like
1488. 56:34just great write down what your life
  1489. 56:37looks like now I sleep till 1 I drink
  1490. 56:40every day I feel like I don't see my
  1491. 56:42friends because everybody's scattered
  1492. 56:43now that we graduate I don't have
1493. 56:44anything to look forward to my my trip
  1494. 56:46to Cambodia is canceled I'm not
  1495. 56:49exercising okay compare the
1496. 56:52two your own life experience
1497. 56:56offers the map and we want to over
1498. 56:59complicate these big words like
  1499. 57:00happiness I know I did for decades or
  1500. 57:04confidence it's
1501. 57:06actually found in the little
1502. 57:08things if you do this simple exercise of
1503. 57:11drawing a line down a piece of paper and
1504. 57:14you write down what life looked like in
1505. 57:16great detail when did you wake up when
1506. 57:17did you go to bed how are from you
1507. 57:19friends family what were you doing for
1508. 57:20work exercise what were you
1509. 57:22eating if you then compare that to what
1510. 57:25life looks like now you now know what to
1511. 57:29do and the fact is your whole
1512. 57:33life is the little things it's when you
1513. 57:36wake up it's the first thing you look at
1514. 57:39it's what you do with your body it's how
1515. 57:44you greet your spouse it's how you talk
1516. 57:46to yourself it's what you say to
1517. 57:48yourself when you look in the mirror
1518. 57:50it's the mood that you walk in to work
  1519. 57:52with
  1520. 57:53intentionally it's it's how you greet
1521. 57:55your animals or your roommate when you
1522. 57:58end the day it's the tone of voice that
  1523. 57:59you
  1524. 58:00use that's your whole
1525. 58:03life and if you were to just take the
1526. 58:05time and intentionally write down a few
1527. 58:10simple things that you do when you're
1528. 58:13happy in life and you were to focus for
1529. 58:15the next seven days on just adding one
1530. 58:18of those in a day you would be very
1531. 58:20surprised how getting some of the little
1532. 58:22things right actually starts to turn
  1533. 58:24your life in a completely different
1534. 58:26direction the fact that we are repeating
1535. 58:30the same patterns in many cases of our
1536. 58:32parents or even of our own lives from
  1537. 58:34the time we know 20 30 40 50 60 well
1538. 58:38what if you can go to the Future and you
1539. 58:41can think about if I could change my
1540. 58:43story today that would get me to the
1541. 58:46Future that I want what would the story
1542. 58:50say and in the book I've given you some
1543. 58:55incises and some exercises to start
1544. 58:58writing out your story now you may think
1545. 59:00what do you mean write out my story I
1546. 59:03learned many years ago to write out my
1547. 59:07money story my life story my
  1548. 59:10relationship story and I've always
1549. 59:12started um in this fashion I'm so happy
1550. 59:16and grateful for the fact that I am
1551. 59:20living the life of my dreams and I am
1552. 59:22traveling all over the world uh first
1553. 59:25class and I um I'm able to give to the
1554. 59:28Charities that my wife and I and
  1555. 59:30children love and I'm able to and I
1556. 59:32write down in present tense everything
  1557. 59:36that I'm doing feeling experiencing for
  1558. 59:40health wealth relationships career
  1559. 59:42business finances fun experiences
1560. 59:45charity I write down a page or two pages
1561. 59:49that is a story that I want my future to
  1562. 59:53be like
1563. 59:55and then I type it out cu I usually
1564. 59:58write by hand I type it out and then I
1565. 1:00:01laminate it then I'll record it and then
1566. 1:00:04I'll listen to it over and over and over
1567. 1:00:07again now you may think that sounds
1568. 1:00:09silly why would you do that why because
1569. 1:00:13any information that you get in through
1570. 1:00:15the senses through your ears through
1571. 1:00:17your eyes that you touch that you feel
1572. 1:00:21activates neurons in the brain when
1573. 1:00:24those neurons are activated and they
1574. 1:00:26wire together if you repeat it often
  1575. 1:00:30enough your brain says hey you're
1576. 1:00:32investing a lot of time and energy on
1577. 1:00:34this stuff uh let me start to put some
1578. 1:00:37automatic processes to make that story
1579. 1:00:40real and this is where winning from the
1580. 1:00:45inside out comes to play this is why
1581. 1:00:48using meditation and visualization and
  1582. 1:00:50mindfulness and affirmations and
  1583. 1:00:53emotional man emotional management
  1584. 1:00:55techniques and subliminal programming
1585. 1:00:58all work if you can get the information
1586. 1:01:00into the brain and you have spaced
  1587. 1:01:02repetition backed with
1588. 1:01:05emotion you are going to develop the
1589. 1:01:07neural patterns that will activate
  1590. 1:01:09something called
1591. 1:01:11automaticity all right or automaticity
1592. 1:01:13is when these neurons activate
1593. 1:01:16automatically and then your perspective
1594. 1:01:18changes your beliefs start to change
1595. 1:01:20your behavior starts to change the
1596. 1:01:21filters by which you see the world and
1597. 1:01:24the lens by which you see the world
1598. 1:01:26start to match up with the story one of
1599. 1:01:29the first things we do in our win the
1600. 1:01:32game of money program is we help people
1601. 1:01:34program a new money story so they can
1602. 1:01:37then earn the money they want and live
1603. 1:01:38the life of their dreams why because it
  1604. 1:01:42works
  1605. 1:01:46visualization
  1606. 1:01:48visualization
  1607. 1:01:49um I don't know when it started I don't
1608. 1:01:52have a tremendous amount of memory uh
1609. 1:01:54some of you know before high school and
1610. 1:01:57and Middle School um my accident when I
1611. 1:02:02was 19 years old really scrambled my
1612. 1:02:04brains so I like some of you can
1613. 1:02:06remember a lot in high school and middle
1614. 1:02:08school and Elementary I'm one of those
  1615. 1:02:10people tremendous trouble accessing a
1616. 1:02:12lot of that and just from a brain injury
  1617. 1:02:15and so I I don't remember where it
  1618. 1:02:18started but I do
1619. 1:02:21remember uh at that time
1620. 1:02:25somewhere in there I would just lay in
  1621. 1:02:28bed and visualize things I'd see
  1622. 1:02:31things I I I'd think about going to
  1623. 1:02:34school that
1624. 1:02:35day and I would visualize things that
1625. 1:02:39would happen at school sometimes just
1626. 1:02:41fictional things you know here I am
  1627. 1:02:44walking up to that girl I like we're
  1628. 1:02:46having a great conversation we're making
1629. 1:02:47out at my locker never happened don't
1630. 1:02:49worry but you know they not all visual
1631. 1:02:51I'm not the Law of Attraction guy
1632. 1:02:52because I would have made out with all
  1633. 1:02:53the girls I didn't happen just letting
1634. 1:02:55you know Law of Attraction screw you
1635. 1:02:56didn't work you got to actually talk to
  1636. 1:02:58people anyway uh I think that I
1637. 1:03:00developed this capacity to visualize and
1638. 1:03:03see things and some of were make belief
1639. 1:03:05stories and some of them were just
  1640. 1:03:09imagining how a situation would
1641. 1:03:12go and to this day including this
1642. 1:03:15morning when I wake up I lay in bed and
1643. 1:03:19I just kind of see what was maybe
1644. 1:03:21already playing out if it was a dream I
  1645. 1:03:24just visualize and see what's happening
1646. 1:03:25there or soon as I become conscious and
1647. 1:03:28I start thinking about the day I imagine
  1648. 1:03:31the day I imagine what's what's on the
  1649. 1:03:33docket for today I don't look at my
  1650. 1:03:35calendar I don't look at my phone I just
1651. 1:03:37oh yeah I see something and I imagine it
  1652. 1:03:41going really
1653. 1:03:43well and so as I see it and I imagine it
1654. 1:03:49going well I also see it going
  1655. 1:03:53terrible
  1656. 1:03:55and how I would deal with
1657. 1:03:57it right so today uh I did not visualize
  1658. 1:04:00this situation I had this morning I
  1659. 1:04:02actually visualized some travel I have
1660. 1:04:03travel later on this afternoon and so I
1661. 1:04:06was thinking okay I have to travel
  1662. 1:04:09today I I want to have a calm energy as
  1663. 1:04:13I pack because usually I'm packing 90
1664. 1:04:15miles an hour and I'm all frenetic
1665. 1:04:17getting out of the house I don't want to
  1666. 1:04:19do
1667. 1:04:20that uh okay I'm going to be on that
1668. 1:04:23going be a car ride today so I'm seeing
1669. 1:04:25myself in the car I'm talking to some
1670. 1:04:27people all right you know I'm going to
1671. 1:04:28call some family and friends today in
1672. 1:04:29the car ride over to the airport and I
  1673. 1:04:32just I visualize or sometimes it's not
1674. 1:04:36you know the dream or the day it's I've
1675. 1:04:39been stewing on a big goal or dream
  1676. 1:04:42something big upcoming maybe it's a huge
  1677. 1:04:45Stadium speech or maybe I'm G to talk
1678. 1:04:47with this particular you know influencer
1679. 1:04:50in the world who I want to have a
  1680. 1:04:51positive impact with and I'll visualize
1681. 1:04:53that going well and not well it's like
  1682. 1:04:56if I was visualizing a marathon I would
1683. 1:04:58visualize all the training up to it I'd
1684. 1:05:01visualize that first starting kickoff
  1685. 1:05:03point I'd visualize mile 12 when my legs
  1686. 1:05:06feel like they're going to fall off I'd
1687. 1:05:08visualize watching people pass me and
1688. 1:05:10how I would feel about that and what I
1689. 1:05:12would tell myself in a positive way to
  1690. 1:05:14keep running I would visualize myself
1691. 1:05:16then finally hitting the Finish Line
1692. 1:05:19celebrating with it going out that night
1693. 1:05:21doing the ice bath and waking up the
1694. 1:05:23next day feeling fulfilled the whole
1695. 1:05:25life cycle of visualization is a habit
1696. 1:05:27for me changed my life don't visualize
1697. 1:05:31the wind visualize the whole life cycle
  1698. 1:05:34of the
  1699. 1:05:35activity
1700. 1:05:37pre during post that's what most people
1701. 1:05:41Miss in their visualizations most people
1702. 1:05:43don't actually visualize they think
  1703. 1:05:44about something
1704. 1:05:46briefly visualization is taking the time
1705. 1:05:50to think about an activity a goal or
1706. 1:05:55dream and walking it through in your
1707. 1:05:59mind beginning to end not just the
1708. 1:06:03celebrations and good stuff the hard
  1709. 1:06:05stuff what you'll tell yourself to
1710. 1:06:07survive to thrive to keep going
1711. 1:06:09on some of some people
1712. 1:06:12often hear the term visualization and
  1713. 1:06:16they think that's not me I don't
  1714. 1:06:17visualize and it's like I don't care if
1715. 1:06:20you see it or not I wish we had a
1716. 1:06:22different name for it we call
  1717. 1:06:26imagination it's a mental process of
1718. 1:06:30thinking through an activity goal or
1719. 1:06:33dream pre during and post the whole life
1720. 1:06:37cycle all I want you to do don't worry
1721. 1:06:39about if you can see everything
1722. 1:06:40perfectly like learn to teach yourself
  1723. 1:06:42to see things more
  1724. 1:06:44visually but don't think that is a
  1725. 1:06:46component or requirement of
  1726. 1:06:49visualization let's just step back from
1727. 1:06:51it has to be insanely visual because
1728. 1:06:53people it's not very visual for me
1729. 1:06:54that's fine I want you to think through
1730. 1:06:57it let your brain do what it does
1731. 1:06:59whatever think through it means to you
1732. 1:07:02I'm using the same language for
1733. 1:07:09visualization to reshape your Reality by
1734. 1:07:11mastering your thinking check the video
  1735. 1:07:13right there next to me I think you'll
1736. 1:07:14love it continue to believe and I'll see
1737. 1:07:17you there how can people begin to
1738. 1:07:19attract the life that they want to bring
1739. 1:07:22abundance into your life you have to be
1740. 1:07:25cultivating an abundant mindset and so a
1741. 1:07:27really easy way to start is to listen
