- 0:01demon? Said to drown people, drag kids
- 0:04into the water, or worse, deep in the
- 0:07rivers of Japan, lurks a creature from
- 0:09ancient legend, the Kappa. Described as
- 0:12a turtlike demon with a water bowl on
- 0:14its head, the Kappa is both mischievous
- 0:17and deadly. In 1978, a farmer in Coochi
- 0:21Prefecture claimed a kappa grabbed his
- 0:23leg while crossing a stream at night. He
- 0:25escaped by offering it a cucumber, the
- 0:28Kappa's favorite food. Locals still
- 0:30leave cucumbers near rivers. or bow.
