- 0:00In terms of hiring people, how do you
- 0:01spot an A player? Um, I will say that I
- 0:04have yet to have an A player that I
- 0:05don't know is an A player within the
- 0:06first week or two. So, what are the
- 0:08signs? What are the signs? They immed so
- 0:11like support, right? They decrease the
- 0:12likelihood of failure. So, they are
- 0:14taking things off my plate really
- 0:16quickly. Um, and they're proactive in
- 0:20terms of their uh decision decision-m
- 0:22and the actions that they take. A lot of
- 0:24a lot of it is really just a tremendous
- 0:26amount of activity. High activity, high
- 0:28alignment. If you have both those
- 0:29things, you have somebody who's moving a
- 0:31lot of things in the right direction.
- 0:32And ideally, you get a lot of attention
- 0:33back. And so, like, if my life gets
- 0:35worse when someone starts, that's a bad
- 0:37sign. And if my life doesn't change when
- 0:39they start, that's also not that good of
- 0:40a sign either. Now, of course, there's a
- 0:41little bit of onboarding. You're going
- 0:42to have some of that. That's sure. But,
- 0:43like, by and large, I want to see some
- 0:46dramatic changes in how my time is
- 0:48getting allocated. If I'm bringing
- 0:49somebody in, especially if they're
- 0:50taking things off my plate, but I think
- 0:52that works at all levels. And what's one
- 0:54of the things that you still insist on
- 0:55doing personally even though you could
- 0:58outsource it? Well, all the books. Um, I
- 1:00write all the books. I write all my
- 1:03emails. I write I mean I I do all the
- 1:06recording. Um, tweets. All the tweets
- 1:09are mine. Uh, all the tweets are mine.
- 1:11Honestly, every every piece of written
- 1:14word that comes out of acquisition.com
- 1:17um is me. And that is a huge amount of
- 1:20work. And so, uh, it's either me because
- 1:23they took it as a transcription from a
- 1:24video that I talked, uh, or I wrote it.
- 1:26There's there's there's only one
- 1:28exception, um, to that. But LinkedIn,
- 1:31same thing. Facebook, same thing. It's
- 1:33it's all tweets are actually my we were
- 1:35talking about this earlier, but tweets
- 1:36are my is my biggest secret weapon for
- 1:38how I create so much content. It's
- 1:40everything. It's the It's the
- 1:42wellspring. So, I the tweets are my
- 1:44stream of consciousness uh, in real
- 1:47time. And then those tweets become tweet
- 1:50reels. They become shorts. If they're
- 1:52high performing, I'll just say them. Um,
- 1:54many of those shorts put together become
- 1:56longs. That'll be, you know, business
- 1:57advice or brutally honest, you know,
- 1:59advice I wish I had had. Things like
- 2:00that. It's just 20, 30 tweets put
- 2:02together. Um, with a little bit more
- 2:03anecdote.
- 2:05Um, LinkedIn posts are multiple tweets
- 2:08along the same thing put together.
- 2:09Facebook, same thing. So like Tik Tok,
- 2:11same thing. like everything actually and
- 2:14my emails are high performing tweet
- 2:15concepts that then get repurposed into
- 2:17email. So everything stems from like
- 2:19that one stream of consciousness and I
- 2:21think like as a creator you have to find
- 2:23whatever that that lowest friction
- 2:26method is for you. I always used to
- 2:28email myself like ideas, quotes,
- 2:30lessons, thoughts, and I used to use
- 2:33that as my method for making podcasts.
- 2:35And then I just had this like duh
- 2:37realization of like instead of just like
- 2:38emailing myself, I could just email the
- 2:40world via tweet and I would just like
- 2:42tweet them. And it also made me a much
- 2:44better writer because you have to be so
- 2:45concise with your language. Um, that I
- 2:48think has actually improved my writing
- 2:49from the book's perspective. Have you
- 2:50said anything that's recently gotten
- 2:52backlash? I think I had a a LinkedIn
- 2:55post that got taken a little bit out of
- 2:57context. So those I have somebody who
- 2:59writes my LinkedIn, but it's my it's my
- 3:02words, but he took it from like a
- 3:03podcast like this and just took it there
- 3:05and then just took an image and put it
- 3:07together. Um and it was it was basically
- 3:10like, hey, for 10 years, uh I didn't
- 3:13like go to football games. I didn't play
- 3:15fantasy. I didn't go out. Um and I like
- 3:18skipped friends weddings. like do
- 3:20whatever it takes to get where you want
- 3:22to go, right? And the amount of people
- 3:24that were like so two two different big
- 3:26backlashes. So backlash one was just
- 3:29like this guy's hustle porn. Like all he
- 3:31wants to do is tell people to sacrifice
- 3:33and I'll I'll address that in a second.
- 3:34And then the other was like what kind of
- 3:38life would you like I would never skip a
- 3:39friend's voting. Like this guy's
- 3:41priorities are all out of whack or
- 3:42whatever. And so both of them come down
- 3:45I think kind of like the do you do you
- 3:47have an issue with somebody's business
- 3:48is like do I have an issue with how
- 3:50someone lives their life? No. It's like
- 3:54different different destinations. Like
- 3:55there's a there's a guy um who like is
- 4:00probably a lifestyle entrepreneur and
- 4:02likes to like talk about my stuff
- 4:04and like I make in like a week what he's
- 4:07made makes in a year and he's a big you
- 4:09know whatever and and all I can think of
- 4:13when I say is like we have different
- 4:14goals dude
- 4:16like we have different goals like I
- 4:20don't like of course like it's like
- 4:22looking at professional bodybuilder like
- 4:23and he's like well I trained twice a day
- 4:26and I weigh all my food and like I get
- 4:29massages and I do stretching and it
- 4:31takes me about five or six hours a day
- 4:32to do, you know, all the bodybuilding
- 4:34stuff that I do. And then some
- 4:35CrossFitter is like, "That's ridiculous.
- 4:36I only work out three days a week. This
- 4:38guy is trying to give you bodybuilding
- 4:40porn." It's like, bro, he's way bigger
- 4:42than you and he has different goals than
- 4:43you do. And so, um, it's just this whole
- 4:47idea of like should I of like they
- 4:49shouldn't do that, they should do it my
- 4:51way, which fundamentally just is like I
- 4:53have my life is based on my preferences
- 4:55and their life is based on theirs. Duh.
- 4:58And so, um, if you want to go to your
- 5:00friend's weddings, by all means go to
- 5:01your friend's weddings. I don't care.
- 5:02You know what I mean? Like, if you want
- 5:03to have a dog, have a dog. Like, I I
- 5:05share the things and like I the one line
- 5:06that I I repeat over and again is is
- 5:08like my life is a documentary, not a
- 5:10sermon. I'm not telling people to do
- 5:11things the way I do them. I just share
- 5:14what has worked for me and if it works
- 5:15for you, great. And if it doesn't, I
- 5:16love you. I love you all the same. Where
- 5:18I see a lot of the backlash is just
- 5:20because it comes off as dogma for
- 5:22everybody. But if you added the
- 5:23stipulation of like to those that want
- 5:25to build a successful business, but
- 5:26that's also not necessarily like you
- 5:28don't need to cater to the people that
- 5:30aren't going to listen. Foot long
- 5:31disclosures at the end of every one of
- 5:33your posts. It's like I can't if I put
- 5:35all the disclosures in my tweets, I
- 5:36wouldn't have tweets. I would just have
- 5:37disclosures. So it's one I think I think
- 5:39NAL said something about this but
- 5:41basically it's
- 5:42like for a post to get reach it will
- 5:45have to have some sort of level of
- 5:46polarity and to have a level of polarity
- 5:48you have to remove context and so it's
- 5:51basically like you can have complete
- 5:52context and no one can see it or you can
- 5:54be willing to stand on one line of gray
- 5:55and say now for me if if more people
- 5:59were willing to delay gratification a
- 6:00little longer um because they saw some
- 6:03of my stuff rather than take immediate
- 6:05reward I can live with
