The Four Acts of Forgiveness - Brian Tracy — Transcript
Full transcript
- 0:00through there's four people that you
- 0:01have to forgive. Number one is forgive
- 0:04your parents.
- 0:06Forgive your parents for everything that
- 0:07they've ever done that hurt you. Most of
- 0:09our research shows that almost all of
- 0:11our adult problems trace back [music] to
- 0:13being unwilling or unable to forgive our
- 0:15parents something that they did that
- 0:17hurt us. [music] Forgive them 100%.
- 0:19Write to them, telephone them, tell
- 0:21them, [music] or at the very least
- 0:23forgive them in your heart. But forgive
- 0:25your parents. Number two is forgive
- 0:28others. [music] Forgive everyone else.
- 0:30Forgive everyone who has ever hurt you
- 0:33in any way for anything. Just let it go.
- 0:36Now, some people say, "Well, I can't
- 0:37forgive that person because what a
- 0:38terrible thing they did to me." [music]
- 0:40Remember this that forgiveness is
- 0:42perfectly selfish. For forgiveness has
- 0:45nothing whatever to [music] do
- 0:47with the other person. It has only to do
- 0:49with your peace of mind and with your
- 0:51assuring your own mental integrity.
- 0:54Number three, [music] forgive yourself.
- 0:56Forgive yourself for every wicked,
- 0:57senseless, brainless, foolish, stupid
- 1:00thing you ever did. Because every single
- 1:02person has done wicked, senseless,
- 1:03brainless, foolish, ridiculous things.
- 1:05But forgive yourself 100%. And finally,
- 1:09the [music] last part of this is if you
- 1:11have done something to hurt someone
- 1:13else, go and apologize.
- 1:17It's amazing how many lives are ruined
- 1:20year after year by people who do not
- 1:22have the intestinal [music]
- 1:23fortitude, the guts, the courage to go
- 1:25and say, "I'm sorry.
