- 0:00most people think of Storytelling as
- 0:02this big complicated thing but what if I
- 0:05told you that you could get great at
- 0:07storytelling just by answering one
- 0:09simple question in a slightly different
- 0:11way every single day we ask one question
- 0:14countless of times how are you now how
- 0:17do most people respond they say
- 0:19something like good how are you or oh
- 0:21yeah I'm good finally the sun is out now
- 0:24there's nothing wrong with that but it's
- 0:26a missed opportunity if you struggle to
- 0:29tell interest interesting stories it's
- 0:31not because you're bad at that but it's
- 0:33because you haven't had enough
- 0:34repetitions so what is the solution any
- 0:38time that someone asks you how are you
- 0:40share a tiny story that shows a little
- 0:42bit more about you as a human but let me
- 0:45give you an example actually today a
- 0:47friend asked me how are you this is how
- 0:49I responded I'm good but actually this
- 0:53morning I had this little weird moment
- 0:55this morning I was interviewing this guy
- 0:57for my YouTube channel like this speaker
- 0:59that I admire and before the interview I
- 1:02was fine but the moment that he popped
- 1:04up on screen I was like oh man this guy
- 1:06is so good like he speaks much better
- 1:09much more eloquent than me and so
- 1:11immediately my mind just started going
- 1:13crazy um anyway what about you when was
- 1:16the last time that you got a little bit
- 1:18more nervous and how did you actually
- 1:20handle that did you see it wasn't like a
- 1:23super polish story it wasn't crazy just
- 1:26a tiny story but there are actually a
- 1:28few things that you want to keep in mind
- 1:30first tip share relatable moments now
- 1:33often times we want to share those big
- 1:34moments like a lifechanging car accident
- 1:37whatever is like don't do that share
- 1:40those small relatable moments something
- 1:42that show a little bit more about you as
- 1:44a human for example has there been
- 1:46anything interesting that has happened
- 1:47lately have you maybe picked up this new
- 1:49skill that it's interesting to share or
- 1:52is there this small thing that annoys
- 1:54you but it's still kind of funny to
- 1:55share those are the moments that you
- 1:57want to share but that's really anything
- 1:59that is not the weather or traffic
- 2:02second tip share short stories sure
- 2:04there is a time and place for longer
- 2:06stories but not here if someone asks you
- 2:08how are you and you start with this five
- 2:11minute life-changing story that
- 2:12obviously is way too much so you want to
- 2:14share this 30 second story maybe a
- 2:1760-second story if it's that incredible
- 2:19story but keep it there actually on that
- 2:22note I'm curious if someone were to ask
- 2:24you today how are you how would you
- 2:27respond let me know in the comments with
- 2:29your short story third tip ask the right
- 2:31question now that exercise is not only
- 2:33about you sharing a story but it's about
- 2:35making the other person comfortable to
- 2:37share a story in return now how do you
- 2:40do that by asking the right question by
- 2:43asking a question that gets a story in
- 2:45return so for example if you talk about
- 2:47a fun trip well then ask the other
- 2:49person hey what about you what has been
- 2:52your most fun trip this year well for
- 2:54example if you talk about spending a
- 2:56weekend with your family well then ask
- 2:58them um what what about you when was the
- 3:00last time that you spent some time with
- 3:02your family do you see like ask a
- 3:04question that gets a story in return if
- 3:08you want to become the best Storyteller
- 3:09in the shortest time possible tell those
- 3:12tiny stories anytime that someone asks
- 3:15you how are you but hey once you've then
- 3:17put in a few repetitions you then at one
- 3:20point1 to make sure that you also tell
- 3:22more interesting stories and for that
- 3:24you may want to check out the next video
- 3:25in which I share some of my favorite
- 3:27storytelling techniques enjoy
