- 0:12industry is one of the most pollutive in
- 0:14the world accounting for an estimated 10
- 0:16percent of global greenhouse gas
- 0:18emissions and as climate change
- 0:20intensifies experts say it is critical
- 0:22to rethink how we produce clothing
- 0:24traditional manufacturing is already
- 0:26harmful to the environment and after
- 0:28consumers throw away products they end
- 0:30up in landfills so one solution is to
- 0:33keep them in use longer companies are
- 0:35doing this now by accepting customers
- 0:37used clothes for store credit allowing
- 0:39new customers to then buy these used
- 0:41goods at a discount according to
- 0:43thredup's 2021 resale report the value
- 0:46of the second-hand market is projected
- 0:48to double in the next five years to 77
- 0:51billion dollars the ceo tells cbs money
- 0:54watch over the next five years as
- 0:56younger people gain more purchasing
