- 0:02This is the Cube, where simple tasks
- 0:06become epic challenges.
- 0:10>> Hey, let's play this. I wanted this one
- 0:12badly.
- 0:13>> Seven games,
- 0:15nine lives, a quarter of a million
- 0:18pounds.
- 0:20>> Have you got what it takes to beat the
- 0:23cube? [screaming]
- 0:37Welcome to the Cube, the show where
- 0:39fortunes can be won or lost in an
- 0:42instant. Will someone win a fortune
- 0:44tonight? Let's find out. So, meet our
- 0:46first contestants.
- 0:54Yeah, I'm good. You good? Feeling all
- 0:55right? Yeah, feeling good. Brilliant.
- 0:56So, you are Ash Wilson. Where about say
- 0:59you from Ash?
- 1:00>> London.
- 1:00>> Okay. And what do you do for a living?
- 1:01>> I'm an athlete and a massage therapist.
- 1:03>> So, you are well fit to go in there.
- 1:06Glad to.
- 1:06>> Who have you brought with you?
- 1:07>> Well, my mom, Rosemary.
- 1:09>> Hi, Rosemary.
- 1:09>> And my lovely coach, Chris.
- 1:11>> Hello, Chris.
- 1:11>> And my brother from church, brother
- 1:13Derek.
- 1:14>> Very nice to meet all three of you. So,
- 1:16coach, do you think he's got what it
- 1:18takes to beat the cube? Um, as long as
- 1:19I'm behind him and cheering him on,
- 1:21getting the crowd behind him, he's up
- 1:23for it.
- 1:23>> Absolutely. That's great. That's what
- 1:25you need. You ready to play? I am.
- 1:27>> Game one is for £1,000. This is what's
- 1:30inside the key.
- 1:38>> Eliminate
- 1:42Ash. You must put out all 45 lights by
- 1:46pushing the buttons. You have 10
- 1:48seconds. And your time starts as soon as
- 1:50you hit the first light. You can use
- 1:53both hands and hit them in any order.
- 1:56But would you be quick enough for
- 1:58£1,000?
- 2:0745 lights in 10 seconds. So you've got
- 2:10to be very very fast here. Well, you
- 2:13have nine lives right now. And the cube
- 2:15has just given you a simplify means that
- 2:17you can make a game easier if you're
- 2:19struggling.
- 2:19>> If you're ready for £1,000,
- 2:22>> enter the cube.
- 2:33>> I just love looking at everyone's face
- 2:36as they walk in there for the first
- 2:37time.
- 2:38>> How does it feel?
- 2:40>> It feels like I'm in a confined space.
- 2:42>> That's true.
- 2:43>> Yeah. like a test subject.
- 2:45>> There's no getting out unless we let you
- 2:47out. [laughter]
- 2:49>> All you got to do is put the lights out.
- 2:51Do that
- 2:52>> and you'll stand beside me with £1,000.
- 2:55>> What I'm thinking is to probably start
- 2:57low and then go high. Try and do
- 3:01obviously two at a time and these top
- 3:04ones to try and synchronize with these
- 3:06ones as well.
- 3:06>> Just think of it as a track thing. 10
- 3:08seconds quite a long time. Yeah. So
- 3:10don't panic. Let's see whether on the
- 3:12other side of the 10 seconds your plan
- 3:15is still in force or whether or not you
- 3:18are randomly smacking at everything
- 3:20that's lit up.
- 3:22>> We'll see.
- 3:24>> So, as soon as you hit the first one,
- 3:25your time will start. Then you go for
- 3:27it.
- 3:345 4 3 2
- 3:48[applause] Very good. YOU HAD 1 SECOND
- 3:51LEFT. Oh yeah. Only took up 9 seconds to
- 3:54do that and you went very quickly. So,
- 3:58were you still under the plan by the
- 4:00time you got around the other side
- 4:01>> after the first two just went out the
- 4:02window? [laughter]
- 4:03>> It doesn't matter how you did it. You
- 4:05did it and you got £1,000.
- 4:08>> GAME TWO. THIS £2,000.
- 4:25A number of squares will appear on the
- 4:27floor of the cube in a wavelike pattern.
- 4:30All you have to do, Ash, for £2,000, is
- 4:33calculate how many squares appear in
- 4:36total.
- 4:43>> Quick addition.
- 4:44>> Yeah.
- 4:45>> Waves of squares coming towards you.
- 4:46You've got to add them up.
- 4:48>> Yeah.
- 4:48>> And then just give me a number. So,
- 4:50you've had your um your physical speed
- 4:52tested. Now, this is your mental speed
- 4:53that it's testing.
- 4:54>> I think it's okay cuz the floor is quite
- 4:56big.
- 4:57>> So, I'm hoping and just keep my eyes on
- 4:58it and make sure that I've correctly
- 5:00[music] seen what it is.
- 5:02>> Well, the cube will now give you a trial
- 5:03run so you can try something out if you
- 5:05just want to test it. Ready to go in?
- 5:07>> I'm definitely ready to go.
- 5:08>> £2,000. Ash, best of luck. Enter the
- 5:10cube.
- 5:12[applause]
- 5:22So, it's just you and an empty floor.
- 5:26Yeah.
- 5:26>> The waves of squares will advance
- 5:28towards you. You've just got to add them
- 5:31up.
- 5:32>> Just simple as that. Just
- 5:33>> as simple as that. You tell me when
- 5:35you're ready. The cube will play the
- 5:37game.
- 5:38>> Cool. All right.
- 5:42I'm ready.
- 5:43>> Cube, play the game.
- 6:03Do
- 6:03>> you got your number? Are you still
- 6:04adding up?
- 6:06>> Still adding
- 6:07>> 24.
- 6:08>> Say 24.
- 6:09>> Yeah, I'm saying 24.
- 6:10>> 24 is your number. Is it 24 cube? Is he
- 6:15right or wrong?
- 6:20Eight lives remaining.
- 6:22>> I lost my eyes roughly. I think it was
- 6:26when it came back down.
- 6:27>> So about halfway through.
- 6:29>> Yeah.
- 6:30>> Okay.
- 6:31>> Do you think now you've seen it that's
- 6:33going to help you do it the next time?
- 6:34>> I think so.
- 6:35>> It's going to be the same pattern. So
- 6:36you know it's not 24.
- 6:38>> Yeah. [laughter]
- 6:39>> Tell me when you're ready.
- 6:41>> I'm ready.
- 6:41>> Play the game.
- 6:43>> Cube, play the game.
- 7:0627.
- 7:08>> 27. So, a bigger number this time.
- 7:11>> So, you say 27. Is he right or wrong?
- 7:17>> [music]
- 7:20>> Seven lives remaining.
- 7:22>> Two lives lost. It's not 24 and it's not
- 7:2527.
- 7:26>> Cool. One. One more time. I'm going to
- 7:29try and hopefully see if I can get it.
- 7:31>> Yeah.
- 7:33>> All right. I'm ready.
- 7:34>> Happy. Okay. Best of luck. Let's see if
- 7:36we can get it on this one. Cube, play it
- 7:37again.
- 7:5826.
- 8:00>> 26
- 8:02is your number.
- 8:05>> 26. Is he right or wrong?
- 8:13Six lives remaining.
- 8:16>> 24 26 and 27.
- 8:21>> You know what? I'm just wondering what
- 8:24what it is I should do whether to
- 8:25simplify or
- 8:28>> I'll go for simplify. That might be your
- 8:30weakest part of the game. Yeah. You your
- 8:32your vision is not picking it up.
- 8:34>> Yeah.
- 8:34>> So, I would go for simplify.
- 8:37>> Yeah. I feel like I might keep losing
- 8:38lives. I reckon I'm just going to
- 8:40simplify it.
- 8:42>> You will go for simplify.
- 8:43>> Simplify. Cube. Please simplify the
- 8:45game.
- 8:46>> The speed of the wave has been reduced.
- 8:50>> But hopefully this should be the speed.
- 8:53That will help you significantly easier.
- 8:56>> Yeah.
- 8:58All right.
- 8:59I'm ready.
- 9:00>> Cube. Play the game.
- 9:3333
- 9:35>> 33. That was a long add up. What were
- 9:37you doing then? Remembering the pattern?
- 9:39>> Yeah, I thought I'd count halfway and
- 9:42then just remember the p pattern
- 9:44>> cuz I was I my eyes just wasn't it's
- 9:46just not catching it. So, I just
- 9:47thought,
- 9:48>> wow, 33 is your number. Much higher than
- 9:52where you started, that's for sure. 24
- 9:55was your lowest number.
- 9:57>> 33. Is he right or wrong?
- 10:19Sometimes you just can't see the pattern
- 10:22and it's best to to get it clear and get
- 10:25out and do something else. You have
- 10:27£2,000.
- 10:30Game three is for £10,000.
- 10:34Now what's inside the [music]
- 10:43barrage?
- 10:46A number of red balls will be launched
- 10:48into the air from one side of the cube.
- 10:51Among them will be a white ball. You
- 10:54must identify the white ball and catch
- 10:56it before it touches the floor of the
- 10:58cube. So, Ash, how sharp are your
- 11:01reactions for £10,000?
- 11:05>> There it is. This is a new game for this
- 11:08series.
- 11:09>> How do you feel about that one?
- 11:10>> I feel confident about that one. I
- 11:12reckon I can probably just do that one.
- 11:13>> Good. All right. Well, we'll see how you
- 11:15do right after the break.
- 11:21>> The cube.
- 11:28A number of balls will be launched from
- 11:30one side of the cube. You must catch the
- 11:33white ball before it touches the floor.
- 11:36Ash, with a tri run and six lives
- 11:39remaining, can you play catch for
- 11:41£10,000?
- 11:46[music]
- 11:47>> I've got a statistic for this one. On
- 11:49average,
- 11:50>> it takes 2.8 lives.
- 11:52>> Okay.
- 11:52>> Do you want to talk to your team here?
- 11:53>> I think I should go straight in. What do
- 11:55you think?
- 11:55>> Yeah, go straight in and do. Yeah.
- 11:57>> Yep.
- 11:57>> I better go straight in.
- 11:58>> Of course you are. For £10,000, Ash, the
- 12:01best of luck and enter the queue.
- 12:14[applause]
- 12:15>> There it is.
- 12:16>> Yeah. It's pretty interesting. It's like
- 12:20from the angle you're hoping that it
- 12:22fires up, but um you know, once I'm
- 12:25hoping to see it. Yeah,
- 12:26>> hopefully about midway or you know as
- 12:29soon as it comes out.
- 12:30>> I mean if it does go over there I'm
- 12:32confident I try and get it right.
- 12:34>> I do miss it
- 12:35>> and I can always just try and
- 12:37>> think like a goalkeeper. That's it.
- 12:40Okay.
- 12:42>> Say when you're ready and the cube will
- 12:44play barrage.
- 12:53>> Ready.
- 12:54>> Cube play the game.
- 12:585 4 3 2 1
- 13:09[music]
- 13:13Very
- 13:26cool.
- 13:28>> You know, when it fired, I didn't
- 13:30actually see it.
- 13:31>> Really?
- 13:31>> No. I
- 13:33>> don't tell me you guessed where it was.
- 13:36>> I saw it come. I saw the balls come out
- 13:37and I just scanned over and I just went,
- 13:39"You know what?
- 13:39>> That really was It was like a James
- 13:41Bond.
- 13:44>> [laughter]
- 13:45>> Nicely done. And for that you have
- 13:47£10,000.
- 13:52>> Game four is for £20,000. This is what's
- 13:55inside the
- 14:04tilt.
- 14:08By tilting the feed, you must roll the
- 14:11ball into the hole at the opposite end.
- 14:13If the ball falls off, you will lose a
- 14:16life. [music] Sounds straightforward,
- 14:19but Ash, can you hold your nerve for
- 14:22£20,000?
- 14:24[music]
- 14:26>> So, you stand beside me, you've got
- 14:2810,000. Have you thought about the
- 14:30money?
- 14:30>> I have, actually. Yeah. [music]
- 14:32>> Okay. So, I mean with 20,000 would be
- 14:35great because I mean I could at least
- 14:37then have the money towards my career
- 14:39trying to, you know, become a better
- 14:41athlete and try and make it all the way
- 14:42and that is a good sum of money to have.
- 14:44>> What do you want to achieve in your
- 14:46career, your sporting career?
- 14:48>> Um, well, I want to go and get Olympic
- 14:49gold at some point. Yeah, I want to go
- 14:51all the way.
- 14:55>> What's your sport?
- 14:56>> I'm a sprint hurdler.
- 14:57>> Okay. Well, don't jump over it.
- 15:00The statistic for this one is that on
- 15:03average it takes 3.8 lives and you have
- 15:06got six. What are you going to do?
- 15:08>> I'm going to go in
- 15:09>> for £20,000. Best of luck
- 15:13to the
- 15:22[applause]
- 15:25All you've got to do is to get it from
- 15:26one end to the other for 20k.
- 15:30It definitely is a long board.
- 15:35>> You go when you're ready. The best of
- 15:37luck.
- 15:54>> Five lives remaining. The great thing is
- 15:57when you play a game like this is that
- 15:59each time you do it, you learn a little
- 16:01bit more. So, whatever you do,
- 16:03>> don't worry about it.
- 16:05>> Okay.
- 16:06>> Go when you're ready.
- 16:09>> I reckon I'll try with the left.
- 16:11>> Other way.
- 16:11>> Yeah, I think I'll try with the left.
- 16:31Four lives remaining.
- 16:33>> To me, I think you're rushing the start.
- 16:37You can take as long as you like before
- 16:38the ball gets into the cup. So, take
- 16:40your time.
- 16:43>> All right. Okay. Good luck. Let's see if
- 16:45you can nail it this time.
- 17:07Hallelujah.
- 17:15Hallelujah.
- 17:29>> [screaming]
- 17:32>> Three lives remain.
- 17:33>> This is getting better every time.
- 17:35Further every time. So don't let it get
- 17:36into your head. Don't let it worry you.
- 17:38>> Yeah,
- 17:38>> you can do this.
- 17:44>> You go when you're ready. And the best
- 17:46of luck.
- 18:02>> [music]
- 18:25>> two lives remaining.
- 18:29>> Slowly, slowly, slowly, slowly.
- 18:32>> It's tough.
- 18:33>> Yeah.
- 18:38Well, let's find out how you do right
- 18:40after the break.
- 18:46The cube,
- 18:52you have played three games
- 18:54successfully. However, you lost three
- 18:56lives on calculate before using your
- 18:59simplify. Tilt has claimed a further
- 19:01four lives with only two lives
- 19:03remaining. Can you take the pressure and
- 19:06roll the ball down the beam for 20,000?
- 19:11>> Keep myself calm.
- 19:13>> It's what you got to do. It really is
- 19:15getting yourself into the zone, the
- 19:17sporting zone that you're used to.
- 19:19Getting your mind in the right place.
- 19:20>> Yeah.
- 19:31>> [music]
- 19:42>> You all right?
- 19:43>> Yeah.
- 19:44>> Okay.
- 20:23Oh yeah.
- 20:31Heat.
- 20:42>> [cheering]
- 20:47>> No. An element of down in my head. I got
- 20:51halfway [laughter] was like, "You know
- 20:52what? I should just go home." Really?
- 20:53Yeah. I was like, "Shut up."
- 20:57>> And Oh, tell me.
- 20:58>> What were you doing when you were
- 20:59standing there psyching yourself up?
- 21:01>> Yeah. I was trying to me mentally
- 21:02rehearse and
- 21:04>> you know I just
- 21:04>> and then it shot off again.
- 21:07>> I don't know how it got there. It just
- 21:09rolled in
- 21:09>> quite frankly. Neither do we.
- 21:12>> The most important THING IS THAT IT DID.
- 21:16WE HAVE
- 21:18£20,000.
- 21:22[applause]
- 21:25Game five is £50,000.
- 21:29This is what's inside the tube.
- 21:38BARRIER
- 21:42Ash in the cube. There are just two
- 21:44barriers between you and £50,000.
- 21:48Blindfolded. You must step over the
- 21:50barriers without dislodging them. The
- 21:53game is completed when both feet have
- 21:55cleared the final barrier.
- 22:01Huh?
- 22:02>> After what you've just put us all
- 22:03through, I've seldom seen a more
- 22:06confident face.
- 22:08>> Yeah.
- 22:09>> Did you want this one?
- 22:10>> I wanted this one badly.
- 22:11>> Did you?
- 22:12>> Yeah. [laughter]
- 22:14>> It's a weird thing to say, but I mean,
- 22:15we I use hurdles almost all the time,
- 22:17even just [music] to do walkovers,
- 22:19whatever it is.
- 22:19>> Yeah.
- 22:20>> My hurdles are up to here.
- 22:21>> Yes.
- 22:22>> Um,
- 22:23>> but you're not blindfolded.
- 22:25The statistic is that on average it
- 22:27takes 3.7 lives. You have two left.
- 22:33>> Yeah.
- 22:35>> Do you want to ask?
- 22:36>> What do you think? Try or
- 22:38>> how you going to work it? And how you
- 22:40going to get to the first hurdle?
- 22:42>> Maybe roll up my trousers. I don't
- 22:44>> I say tuck your trousers in.
- 22:47[laughter]
- 22:47>> I've got sport socks on.
- 22:48>> It doesn't matter. We go for 50 grand.
- 22:50It doesn't matter what you look like.
- 22:54No, I mean it's been done with no
- 22:55trousers. I know. [laughter]
- 22:57I can be heard.
- 22:59>> There's a little voice in your head
- 23:00saying 20 grand and it's just um
- 23:05>> I I'll try it. I'm going to try.
- 23:07>> You think so?
- 23:08>> Yeah.
- 23:09>> Make sure I'm definitely as confident as
- 23:11I think I am.
- 23:12>> Enter the cube.
- 23:24>> [applause]
- 23:27>> At the end of this hurdling track
- 23:31is £50,000.
- 23:33>> Yeah.
- 23:38>> Right. Can I go?
- 23:41>> Go for it.
- 23:45Heat.
- 24:04Heat.
- 24:16Now you know you can do it.
- 24:19>> Can I ask how it looked? [laughter]
- 24:22>> Yeah, of course you can. It was perfect.
- 24:24>> Good.
- 24:25>> It's the most stylish I've ever seen it
- 24:27done.
- 24:27>> Yeah.
- 24:29>> Big decision.
- 24:31A big decision to make. You just nailed
- 24:36that on your trial run.
- 24:39Which means if you want to go over
- 24:42£50,000, you have to commit. But only if
- 24:46you think you can do that again. And you
- 24:49have two lives remaining. What are you
- 24:52going to do?
- 24:53>> Just do it again.
- 24:56>> I'm going to go for it.
- 24:57>> That's it. It's committed.
- 25:01Heat.
- 25:15[music]
- 25:19Heat.
- 25:22[music]
- 25:37>> [applause]
- 25:38>> That was astonishing. Absolutely
- 25:41incredible. Well, that game has just got
- 25:44you £50,000.
- 25:50>> [applause]
- 25:51>> Game six is for £100,000.
- 25:55This is what's inside the
- 26:03cylinder.
- 26:07You must bounce the ball into the
- 26:09cylinder. It can only bounce once before
- 26:11it reaches the target. The game starts
- 26:14as soon as the ball touches the floor.
- 26:17So, Ash, do you want to play for
- 26:19£100,000?
- 26:22>> It's bouncing a ball into a bucket for
- 26:26£100,000.
- 26:29You have 50. How are you going to spend
- 26:32your £50,000?
- 26:34>> Well, now I can actually just pay off my
- 26:35debts. I can go training feeling more
- 26:37relaxed. You know, I don't have to feel
- 26:39like I've been, oh, I got to go work
- 26:40again. Come back, go work again. It
- 26:42doesn't help. The cube is funding a
- 26:45beginning of a sporting career.
- 26:47>> Exactly.
- 26:48>> Well, the stats for this one are that on
- 26:50average it takes 4.3 lives. We have seen
- 26:54it done in one.
- 26:56>> Yeah.
- 26:56>> But you have two lives.
- 26:58>> Yeah. I just want to see what these guys
- 26:59say.
- 27:00>> Take take it, Ashley.
- 27:01>> Yeah.
- 27:02>> Take the money.
- 27:02>> Yeah. You've done well. Take it. Yeah.
- 27:04>> You escape juggling your balls earlier
- 27:06on. I think [laughter]
- 27:08it's that uh that mom started calling
- 27:10you Ashley. [laughter]
- 27:13You've been ash all the way through and
- 27:15now you're Ashley.
- 27:18>> I know what that means when it comes
- 27:19from my mother. [laughter]
- 27:21>> So, the decision?
- 27:24>> It seems pretty easy, but it's just I'm
- 27:26not as I mean, I thought I thought,
- 27:27okay,
- 27:30um I'm going to take it.
- 27:32>> Taking the money.
- 27:37>> Absolutely fantastic. What a great run
- 27:40you've had. YOU CAN LEAVE THE ROTATE
- 27:4315,000.
- 27:59IT'S
- 28:03nice to see you.
- 28:07So, you are where you from?
- 28:08>> I'm from Alawan, Scotland. And what do
- 28:10you do for a living?
- 28:10>> I work in rugby coach education.
- 28:12>> Great. Oh, this will be right up your
- 28:14street. Who have you brought with you?
- 28:16>> Um, I've got my fiance with me, Serena.
- 28:18>> Hi.
- 28:19>> Hello.
- 28:19>> I've got my friend and best man, Alex.
- 28:21Hello.
- 28:21>> Alex.
- 28:22>> Got my dad, Alan.
- 28:23>> Hi there.
- 28:23>> And I've got my sister, Aie.
- 28:24>> Hi.
- 28:25>> Lovely to see you all. Do you think you
- 28:27have got what it takes to beat the
- 28:29queue?
- 28:30>> For sure. Yeah. I've got a broad range
- 28:31of skills from playing rugby, so I'm
- 28:34used to being under pressure on the on
- 28:35the pitch. So hopefully I can bring
- 28:36these skills out in the in the cube. If
- 28:38you're ready, game one is for £1,000.
- 28:41And this is what's inside the cube.
- 28:50Free fall.
- 28:52A second after hitting the button, two
- 28:55balls will be released from the corner
- 28:56of the cube. You must catch them both
- 28:59before they hit the floor. So, Graeme,
- 29:02can you catch for £1,000?
- 29:07This should [music] completely appeal to
- 29:09you.
- 29:10>> Yeah, from a from a rugby background, if
- 29:12I can't do this, I'm not really
- 29:14practicing what I preach. So, I'm
- 29:16relatively happy with this as the first
- 29:17game.
- 29:18>> Well, you have nine lives. You have a
- 29:19simplifier, which means you can make a
- 29:21game easier if you need to. Are you
- 29:22ready?
- 29:23>> I'm ready.
- 29:23>> For £1,000, best of luck.
- 29:25>> Thank you.
- 29:25>> Enter the queue.
- 29:30[applause]
- 29:40>> [applause]
- 29:43>> How does that feel?
- 29:45>> Feel like I'm at a zoo on on show at the
- 29:47moment.
- 29:47>> We are definitely all watching you.
- 29:50>> Yeah.
- 29:51>> All you need to do is to press the
- 29:53button, run forward, catch the two
- 29:55balls, and you will stand beside me with
- 29:57£1,000.
- 29:59>> Yeah.
- 30:00>> Happy? Yep.
- 30:01>> Go when you're ready. Best of luck.
- 30:13[music]
- 30:19[screaming]
- 30:28>> [applause]
- 30:31>> I put myself under a bit too much
- 30:32pressure saying how confident I was
- 30:34there. So I started to get nervous as I
- 30:36got underneath it. But no, good. Quite
- 30:38happy. First came out the way. Nine
- 30:39lives. Happy
- 30:40>> and you have £1,000. Brilliant.
- 30:43>> Game two is for £2,000.
- 30:47This is what
- 30:49[music]
- 30:54>> drop shot.
- 30:58>> Roll the ball along the plate [music] so
- 31:00it drops to the target hole at the end.
- 31:02You must release the ball within the red
- 31:04area and it must remain in contact with
- 31:06the surface at all times. Do this and
- 31:10you walk away with £2,000.
- 31:16It's just rolling a ball for £2,000.
- 31:21That
- 31:21>> is
- 31:22>> Think about what you've been practicing
- 31:23with at home. Stop zone and things like
- 31:25that. So
- 31:27>> on what? How's he practiced stop zone?
- 31:29>> With a with a snooker ball and a bit of
- 31:31um wooden what's it edging?
- 31:32>> Have you been making the games?
- 31:34>> Been trying to recreate as much as
- 31:35possible.
- 31:35>> Have you really using the sort of
- 31:37cushion of
- 31:38>> Yeah. Yeah. Just been doing different
- 31:39things to try and recreate as many as
- 31:41possible.
- 31:42>> This is a big one to recreate.
- 31:45Well, you have all nine lies. The cube's
- 31:47given you your simplify. You now get
- 31:48your trial run. A chance to try again
- 31:50before you commit to it.
- 31:51>> Yeah.
- 31:52>> How will you play it? What will you do?
- 31:55Make those decisions during this break.
- 31:57We'll be back in a moment. [applause]
- 32:02>> The cube.
- 32:09Grab. You must simply roll the ball into
- 32:12the target hole at the end of the pin.
- 32:15With all nine lives, a trial run and a
- 32:18simplify remaining. How confident are
- 32:21you for £2,000?
- 32:27>> Whenever would you have got the chance
- 32:28to roll a ball for two grand?
- 32:31>> I know on the golf course, but you
- 32:32usually use a putter. I think sometimes
- 32:34>> you bet that highly when you're on the
- 32:35golf course. [laughter]
- 32:37No,
- 32:38>> no, no.
- 32:41Okay, this is for £2,000. What you going
- 32:43to do?
- 32:43>> I'm just going to go straight in.
- 32:45>> He's in.
- 32:48[applause]
- 32:59[applause]
- 33:02Get yourself in position.
- 33:06Go when you're ready. And the very best
- 33:08of luck.
- 33:12Okay.
- 33:26>> Eight lives remaining.
- 33:31>> Wow, that was very close. Right
- 33:34technique.
- 33:35>> Yeah.
- 33:35>> What do you think? Was that the right
- 33:36technique?
- 33:37>> Yeah,
- 33:37>> totally right technique. Just a little
- 33:39softer and you'll be fine. You had it
- 33:41spot on.
- 33:42>> Yeah, I think I just came off it a
- 33:43little bit.
- 33:43>> You know exactly what
- 33:45>> follow through was never that good.
- 33:48>> You go when you're ready. Best of luck.
- 33:53[clears throat]
- 34:04Oh,
- 34:06>> seven lives remaining.
- 34:10Now, your hand actually went off to the
- 34:12right then as you released it.
- 34:15>> Yeah, just coming through. I need to try
- 34:18and stream it. Just need not hold on to
- 34:20it for too long.
- 34:22>> Take your time, Graham. As well,
- 34:23>> all the time in the world. No rush.
- 34:41Six lives remaining.
- 34:47[groaning]
- 34:49>> It's pretty tough.
- 34:50>> It's pretty tough. I mean, it's it's
- 34:52really light, so it's just my hands are
- 34:54sticking on it a little bit.
- 34:56>> I don't want to waste lives.
- 34:58>> What do you think? Is this a simplified
- 35:00task or
- 35:00>> Yeah.
- 35:01>> Do I go for one more or is that wasting
- 35:03a life potentially? I think what you
- 35:05want to firstly do is take your time
- 35:06again because initially you took your
- 35:08time, you got your ball straight. So as
- 35:10much time as you want. Secondly, we
- 35:12talked about simplifying earlier on the
- 35:14game. Find a lot of people are scared
- 35:15doing it. Save a life. If you're not
- 35:18100% confident it's going to get in the
- 35:20next time. Simplify.
- 35:22>> I think I can do it in this one. I think
- 35:24I can definitely do it in this one. If I
- 35:27get if I get the plane right and get it
- 35:28nice and straight, I think I can I can
- 35:30get it in.
- 35:30>> So what do you think you're going to do?
- 35:32>> I'm just going to I'm going to have
- 35:33another go. Have another go.
- 35:34>> I'm going to simplify.
- 35:35>> Still got six lives remaining.
- 35:36>> Yeah.
- 35:37>> Good luck.
- 35:50That's looking good.
- 35:56>> Five lives remaining.
- 35:57>> Don't believe it? Right at the last
- 36:00moment.
- 36:01Ah, we'll have to simplify. I think
- 36:04>> that the decision.
- 36:04>> Yeah.
- 36:05>> Cube, please simplify the game.
- 36:08>> The diameter of the target hole has been
- 36:11increased.
- 36:12>> Big enough.
- 36:14>> I could do with that a little bit
- 36:15bigger. Can you make it bigger? Is that
- 36:16possible?
- 36:18>> No, it's it's it's certainly bigger. I'm
- 36:20certainly much more confident. Certainly
- 36:22the first throw I think would have went
- 36:24in. So,
- 36:25>> okay. Well, you have five lives
- 36:27remaining.
- 36:28>> Five lives.
- 36:44four lives remaining.
- 36:49[sighs]
- 36:50>> You're so close each time. It's
- 36:52>> It's a tough one. It's a It's a tough
- 36:53one.
- 36:54>> Must be putting a little bit of spin on
- 36:55it.
- 36:56>> Yeah. Graham, when you're pushing the
- 36:59ball forward, are you looking a straight
- 37:01ahead or are you looking at your hand?
- 37:03>> I think it's
- 37:03>> what we need maybe think about doing is
- 37:06focus on completely on your hand on
- 37:09pushing the ball forward. So, making a
- 37:11completely straight line forward rather
- 37:12than the actual uh target. Think about
- 37:15where your hand's going. So,
- 37:17>> yeah. Yeah. Um
- 37:22Okay. Going to give it another go.
- 37:24>> Okay. Good luck. Go when you're ready.
- 37:37>> Is this it? Is this it? Is this it? Is
- 37:38this it?
- 37:39>> Come on.
- 37:40>> Three lives remaining.
- 37:42>> Was in the right direction again. That
- 37:43should rolled off.
- 37:47Damn. If I If I'd thrown that faster, if
- 37:50I rolled that faster, it certainly would
- 37:51have went in. That's disappointing.
- 37:56We all want you to get this.
- 38:01You go when you're ready.
- 38:04>> Okay. [music]
- 38:05>> Good luck.
- 38:28Come on now.
- 38:34Yeah.
- 38:38[applause]
- 38:50What was it that got that last one, do
- 38:51you think?
- 38:51>> I don't know. I think I just focused
- 38:53focused on where I was releasing the
- 38:54ball and I think that's made the
- 38:56difference.
- 38:56>> Good advice.
- 38:56>> So, it was it was
- 38:58>> good advice. There we are. That's what
- 38:59your team's there for.
- 39:00>> Yeah. Yeah. Absolutely. It was good.
- 39:02Glad to get through it. Really glad to
- 39:03get through it.
- 39:04>> You are through it. And you have £2,000.
- 39:08>> Game three is for £10,000.
- 39:16>> [music]
- 39:19>> succession.
- 39:21Each time a square appears on the floor,
- 39:23you must press the button of the
- 39:24corresponding color. You have 10 seconds
- 39:27to complete the sequence, but if you
- 39:29press the wrong button or run out of
- 39:31time, you will lose a life. So, Graeme,
- 39:34can you keep your nerve and
- 39:36concentration for £10,000?
- 39:39completely different sort of a game.
- 39:42>> Yeah, it's quite a tough one.
- 39:44>> You've got three lives. You got a trial
- 39:45run.
- 39:46>> I think I've got that I've got the
- 39:48thought that I'll go in and do the trial
- 39:49run and I'll do it first time. So, and
- 39:52then it won't count. So, I think what
- 39:53I'll do is uh I'm going to be be brave,
- 39:56be confident, and just go straight in.
- 39:58>> Right onto THE
- 40:02[applause]
- 40:12You've got 10 seconds to get the
- 40:14sequence.
- 40:15>> Yeah,
- 40:16>> but it will be the same sequence every
- 40:18time.
- 40:19>> Right. Okay. Positive head back on.
- 40:22>> Absolutely. That's what you have to do.
- 40:24>> Happy place, Graeme. [laughter]
- 40:26>> Happy place.
- 40:27>> Happy place. Happy place.
- 40:28>> Be positive. You can do this.
- 40:31>> Just get a feel for the distance.
- 40:35You tell me when you're ready and the
- 40:36cube will start the sequence. [music]
- 40:43>> Okay, ready
- 40:44>> cube. Play the game.
- 41:02Two lives remaining.
- 41:06>> Wrong press. Wrong.
- 41:07>> You pressed a red and it was blue.
- 41:08>> Wrong color. Wrong color. But
- 41:10anticipation there. Unfortunately,
- 41:11that's not the way to do it.
- 41:12>> You were anticipating what it might be.
- 41:15>> I think so. I think that's what I had in
- 41:17my head. Yeah.
- 41:18>> I have a feeling that you also wouldn't
- 41:20have been quick enough. So, you know,
- 41:22you've got to be faster.
- 41:23>> Yeah.
- 41:24>> Don't anticipate what it might be.
- 41:26>> Yeah. Yeah,
- 41:28>> you have two lives remaining.
- 41:39>> Okay.
- 41:40>> Can you play the game?
- 41:59One life remaining.
- 42:02>> Three more to go.
- 42:04>> You just ran out of time. So, it's all
- 42:07on this.
- 42:08>> Yeah.
- 42:09>> It's £10,000
- 42:11or nothing, sadly.
- 42:13>> Yeah.
- 42:14>> A little bit quicker and you're there.
- 42:17>> Yeah.
- 42:18>> Come on.
- 42:24Yeah, let's play this cube. Play the
- 42:27game.
- 42:43>> Contestant defeated.
- 42:46>> You went for the red and it was the
- 42:48blue.
- 42:50What a shame.
- 42:56So close.
- 42:58So close. What a shame. I really I
- 43:01really am so sorry. First game,
- 43:04unbelievable. Second game caused you
- 43:07endless problems. And if you'd have had
- 43:09another life or two on that one.
- 43:10>> Yeah, I think so.
- 43:11>> Or maybe a simplify, then you would have
- 43:13been there for the 1020,000.
- 43:15So close. Did you enjoy it?
- 43:16>> Oh, it's been great. It's been
- 43:17fantastic. Good. It's been great.
- 43:19>> We loved having you here. You didn't
- 43:21take any money from the cube, but it's
- 43:22been great meeting you. Thank you very
- 43:24much indeent.
- 43:26[applause]
- 43:32>> So, yet again, the Cube remains
- 43:34undefeated. The question is, could you
- 43:38beat the Cube?
- 43:41[music]
- 43:43Heat.
- 43:54Heat. [music]
- 44:04Heat.
