Full transcript
- 0:00Tammy comes back in. She's graded the
- 0:02charts. Watch the shift in the room the
- 0:05moment she sits back down.
- 0:10>> So, I brought Graham in here cuz we want
- 0:11to talk to you about the results. Okay.
- 0:13>> Sure.
- 0:18>> So, um it is completely clear that you
- 0:21were not honest during the testing and I
- 0:22think you already know that um you did
- 0:25not pass the polygraph test.
- 0:26>> Okay.
- 0:27>> Okay. So, now we need to talk about what
- 0:29actually happened. And I feel like
- 0:31you're probably ready to
- 0:33>> Everything that comes next is a
- 0:34carefully constructed conversation
- 0:36designed to move Chris from denial to
- 0:39disclosure, one small step at a time. He
- 0:42failed the polygraph. Tammy makes that
- 0:44clear without aggression. And within
- 0:46minutes, Chris admits what he's been
- 0:48hiding.
- 0:49>> Do that.
- 0:50>> I didn't I didn't lie to you on that
- 0:52polygraph. I promise. Chris, I I know.
- 0:57It's time.
- 0:58>> I just stop for a minute. Take a deep
- 1:00breath.
- 1:02I I want you to take a deep breath right
- 1:04now.
- 1:11There's a reason you feel sick to your
- 1:12stomach. And when people hold stuff
- 1:15inside, it makes you physically ill. And
- 1:18I could just tell on your face. I could
- 1:20tell you tell from the second you walked
- 1:21in that you were wanting to just come
- 1:24clean and just be done with this. And I
- 1:27appreciate that because you knew sitting
- 1:29down in that chair that you weren't
- 1:31going to pass today. And you knew I was
- 1:33going to find out cuz I told you that.
- 1:35And then you continued to say knowing
- 1:38that you could at the end say, "You know
- 1:41what? I just need to get this off my
- 1:43chest. Like I just need to tell you what
- 1:45happened.
- 1:46We're not we're not here to play games.
- 1:48We're not here to do any of that with
- 1:49you. We just want to know what happened.
- 1:53So, can you start from the beginning and
- 1:54tell us what happened?
- 1:56>> Everything that I I told you, I didn't I
- 1:59did not lie on this polygraph. I am
- 2:02I don't know how much I could I could
- 2:04tell you right now. Like, I did not
- 2:06>> It's not even It's not even an option
- 2:08right now because you did not pass a
- 2:09polygraph. So, I know you were being
- 2:11deceptive. So, that's not even an issue
- 2:13right now. The issue right now is what
- 2:15happened to Shannan, Bella, and Celeste.
- 2:20That's the issue right now.
- 2:21>> Okay.
- 2:22>> Okay. So, let's talk about that.
- 2:25>> I know. I know you want to tell us. I I
- 2:28can I can see it in your face.
- 2:31Holding this lie in is going to do
- 2:34nothing for you.
- 2:35>> I I know this. Like I'm not like trying
- 2:38to like cover things up like
- 2:40>> Yeah, but you kind of are because in in
- 2:42it's normal. Normal people would do
- 2:44that. Normal people that make a mistake
- 2:47initially are going to go, I don't know
- 2:48what you're talking about. I didn't do
- 2:50anything. That's normal. I would expect
- 2:53that. It's just like if you ask your
- 2:55kid, you know, did you write on the
- 2:56wall? And they go, no. And you're like,
- 2:58you have marker on your hand. Like I
- 3:00know you just wrote on the wall. They're
- 3:01like, oh, okay. That's a natural
- 3:03reaction that someone's going to
- 3:04initially lie about something like that
- 3:06and then eventually tell the truth. So,
- 3:08this is your eventually telling the
- 3:10truth time.
- 3:12This is where this is where the rubber
- 3:14meets the road, Chris.
- 3:17Like, don't let this continue any
- 3:19longer, please.
- 3:20>> I'm not trying to make anything
- 3:22continue. Like, I want them back home.
- 3:25Like,
- 3:27>> but you know they're not coming back
- 3:28home. You know that.
- 3:30>> I don't know in the back of my head, I'm
- 3:32I hope they come back home.
- 3:34>> But you know they're not.
- 3:36>> I hope they come back home.
- 3:38>> Mhm.
- 3:39>> And I don't know they're not coming back
- 3:41home.
- 3:44>> Chris, Timmy, and I are confused. Okay.
- 3:47And here's what we're confused about.
- 3:51I told you that we've done some work
- 3:52overnight. I told you that we've got a
- 3:54lot of leads. Okay. That wasn't a lie.
- 3:56>> Uhhuh.
- 3:56>> We know a lot more than you think we do.
- 3:58Okay. And here's where we're confused.
- 4:02You're this great guy. And I'm not just
- 4:04telling you that, okay? I'm telling you
- 4:06that because everyone tells us that,
- 4:08okay? We can't find anyone to say
- 4:11anything bad about you. Chris is a great
- 4:13guy. He's a good father. He's a good
- 4:15man. We're confused as to why you're not
- 4:18taking care of your beautiful children.
- 4:22I'm not taking care of them right now.
- 4:24>> Right now. Where are they?
- 4:27I don't know where they're at.
- 4:34I honest I do not know where they are
- 4:36at.
- 4:39If I could have my babies back home
- 4:41right now, I would. I want them back. I
- 4:44want everybody back.
- 4:49That is the God's honest truth.
- 5:13Heat. Heat.
- 5:45So, let's keep talking about your
- 5:46family. Okay.
- 5:52We just can't figure out
- 5:55why there's two Chris's. Okay. We talked
- 5:58about that last night.
- 5:59>> Yes.
- 5:59>> We just can't figure it out.
- 6:03There's a Chris. Okay. If somebody asked
- 6:07me my kids child routine, I would say,
- 6:10you know, go after mom. That's the
- 6:12truth, right? And so, it is very
- 6:15surprising to me and it warms my heart
- 6:18that you're the type of dad who can pack
- 6:20a bag in the morning and you know what
- 6:22to put in there and you know just what
- 6:24to put in there as a backup in case they
- 6:26have an accident. Okay? You know what
- 6:27the clothes to put in there. You know
- 6:29what they have for breakfast. You know
- 6:30what they have for a snack and a dinner
- 6:32and a nighttime snack. You can tell me
- 6:34the book you read to your daughters,
- 6:36okay? I know you love them and you're
- 6:39not faking that, are you? That's real.
- 6:42Okay? There's a lot of guys who come in
- 6:45here and try to tell me that and I know
- 6:46they're lying, okay? Cuz they can't
- 6:49answer those questions that you can
- 6:50answer. Okay?
- 6:52But you're here today lying about
- 6:54something else.
- 6:56So, we need to talk about that. Okay?
- 6:58About your daughter.
- 7:00>> I know. And this is very good.
- 7:04I
- 7:08I'm not proud of it. I
- 7:10>> And within minutes, Chris admits what
- 7:12he's been hiding. He was having an
- 7:14affair. He didn't go to the Rocky's game
- 7:17alone. The woman he'd been seeing knew
- 7:19he was married. He didn't tell her
- 7:21Shannon was pregnant.
- 7:24The detective from the night before
- 7:25rejoins. He lays it out again. The
- 7:28loving father or the man who wanted a
- 7:30new life. He tells Chris that everyone
- 7:32they've spoken to says he's a great guy,
- 7:34a great dad, and that's exactly why none
- 7:37of this makes sense. Unless something
- 7:39happened that morning that Chris hasn't
- 7:41told them yet.
- 7:43>> I didn't think anything like that could
- 7:44happen. I don't think I'd ever do it,
- 7:45but I did. I know. Keep going.
- 7:52She accused me of it. I denied it.
- 7:55Like I She and I feel horrible for it.
- 7:59like she was pregnant and it was
- 8:04I don't want to
- 8:08I didn't hurt her. I cheated on her. I
- 8:11hurt her emotionally. I cheated on her
- 8:13and
- 8:17I feel absolutely horrible about this.
- 8:19But that's what I've been holding. I
- 8:22when I I didn't go to Rocky again. I was
- 8:25with her. Okay. I went to dinner with
- 8:27her.
- 8:29Okay,
- 8:33keep going.
- 8:34That 5 weeks I was alone, I was with her
- 8:37most most of the time. Okay, you're
- 8:41doing a good job. This is the Chris that
- 8:42I knew would come out today. This is the
- 8:44Chris who tells the truth cuz you're a
- 8:46truth teller.
- 8:50When I say love, I felt a little better.
- 8:53>> Absolutely. Okay. I mean, that's God
- 8:55loves truth. Okay.
- 8:59Who is her?
- 9:01I don't want to get her involved in
- 9:02this. I don't want to ruin her life.
- 9:04Like, it's some something like this. I
- 9:06don't want her involved in this.
- 9:07>> Okay. So, can we talk about that a
- 9:09little bit?
- 9:10>> Yes.
- 9:12>> I knew that you would say you didn't
- 9:14want to get her involved.
- 9:16>> Just because I she's a wonderful person.
- 9:19Like I mean, she knew I was married.
- 9:22Yes. That's why we're going through
- 9:23issues. Yes. Yes.
- 9:27And I told her that, you know, we were
- 9:29going to get, you know, at the end like
- 9:30we were going to get separated. Like
- 9:31once I figured out what that was, I
- 9:33didn't know what that was going to be.
- 9:34>> I know.
- 9:35>> I had no idea. I like, you know,
- 9:38I saw her took my breath away and I'd
- 9:42never thought in a million years that
- 9:43could happen.
- 9:44>> I know.
- 9:45>> I think my favorite like but like it was
- 9:50I never felt that way about anybody like
- 9:52anybody in my lifetime.
- 9:53>> Mhm.
- 9:55Chris, that's not your fault. I'm
- 9:57>> That's fine. No, no. I'm just
- 10:00>> Why can we do this? Um, I know you want
- 10:04to take care of her cuz it's because
- 10:06you're a type of guy who takes care of
- 10:07women. It is. You took care of your
- 10:10wife. You took care of your daughters.
- 10:11You were very good at taking care of her
- 10:13and you want to take care of her. So,
- 10:15can we make a deal?
- 10:19I don't think this girl did anything to
- 10:22hurt anybody, but I can't walk out of
- 10:25here wondering.
- 10:27So, can we leave her out of it and get
- 10:30back to your wife and your daughters?
- 10:31>> Okay.
- 10:32>> Where are they?
- 10:33>> But that I do not know.
- 10:35That was what I was holding back. Like I
- 10:37didn't know like what I didn't I know
- 10:40Chris in the interview today you weren't
- 10:42asked about infidelity.
- 10:44you were asked about. That was I was
- 10:46holding back from last night. That's why
- 10:49you feel today.
- 10:51>> That's not how that works. You would
- 10:52have reactions to every single question,
- 10:54not just the ones that we talked about
- 10:57being important.
- 11:00>> Like the ones you wanted me to lie
- 11:01about. Like, is that what you're talking
- 11:03about?
- 11:03>> No, the ones about her disappearance and
- 11:06knowing where she's at and about what
- 11:08you about seeing her last time.
- 11:12>> I was not lying about those things.
- 11:14So, can I tie what I think?
- 11:16>> Yes.
- 11:16>> Okay.
- 11:18So, I'm going into that interview today
- 11:21with Tammy where we strapped you in. We
- 11:23knew we knew all about Nikki.
- 11:27Okay. All about her.
- 11:30And you're doing a very good job right
- 11:33now because you didn't have to tell us
- 11:34about it, but you did.
- 11:36>> I could hold that.
- 11:37>> I know. We could see it in your chest. I
- 11:39in your eyes. Okay. Here's a challenge
- 11:42that we have. We knew about Mickey and
- 11:45so we didn't need to ask you about her
- 11:47in the polygraph. We just didn't need to
- 11:49cuz we knew. Okay. And so that's why we
- 11:52didn't ask you cuz we already knew the
- 11:54answer. Okay. We're very very worried
- 11:56about your daughters and your wife. I am
- 11:58too. Okay. So, can I tell you maybe
- 12:02um based on the people that I've talked
- 12:04to and Tammy's talks to, based on all
- 12:06the investigations we've done, based on
- 12:09your cell phone, both your cell phones,
- 12:12your wife's cell phone, Nikki's cell
- 12:14phone, okay? Based on talking with
- 12:17family members and friends, and based on
- 12:19talking with everyone, here's what we
- 12:21know, okay? And I'm not going to lie to
- 12:23you right now. Here's what we know,
- 12:24okay? Chris's a good man. Everyone said
- 12:27it, okay? Okay, I'm not just telling you
- 12:29that cuz I, you know, want to blow smoke
- 12:31here. You're a good man. Okay, nobody
- 12:34can fake answers about packing a
- 12:36backpack. Nobody. You either pack a
- 12:38backpack for your kids or you don't.
- 12:40Okay,
- 12:42this should have been the happiest time
- 12:44of your marriage.
- 12:47Okay, you and Chen, this should have
- 12:49been the happiest time. She's making a
- 12:51little money. She's making good money.
- 12:52You're making great money. You both have
- 12:54a job. You have beautiful kids. You have
- 12:56a beautiful house. You're in Colorado.
- 12:58Clean air, good people. Okay. And on top
- 13:01of that, you look pretty good now.
- 13:03You're pretty fit. Okay. This should
- 13:06have been a time in your marriage where
- 13:08you guys were happy and thriving and
- 13:10productive. Okay. And I believe that
- 13:13Shenan's the reason none of that
- 13:14happened. I believe that she's the
- 13:17controlling person. Maybe doesn't listen
- 13:20to you as much as she should.
- 13:24I think that she can do whatever she
- 13:26wants and you can't.
- 13:29Okay. I think if you were to go to a
- 13:31restaurant, she would order whatever the
- 13:33hell she wants and as soon as you order
- 13:35a nice steak, she says, "Wo, buddy."
- 13:38Okay.
- 13:40A woman that lets her man do all of the
- 13:42backpack packing and all the cooking.
- 13:45All the cooking, but she cooks. Like I
- 13:48do like some things here and there.
- 13:49>> Okay.
- 13:52That's because you're a good person and
- 13:53I think that she started on the path to
- 13:55leave the marriage.
- 13:58Okay. It's ironic that we're talking
- 14:00about you and Mickey. I think that she
- 14:02was the one who started on that path
- 14:04first.
- 14:07What do you think about that?
- 14:10>> I wouldn't have thought about that.
- 14:12>> Okay.
- 14:14The other thing I think is interesting
- 14:16is even though she is that type of
- 14:18person that's controlling, doesn't
- 14:20listen, does what she wants, is walking
- 14:23away from her kids, here you are
- 14:25defending her because to your core, you
- 14:28want to take care of the people you
- 14:29love.
- 14:31Okay?
- 14:33And that's the reason why
- 14:36we want to give you an opportunity today
- 14:39to just help us find them. Okay?
- 14:43Will you do that for us?
- 14:44>> I'll do whatever I can to help to find
- 14:47where they're at.
- 14:48>> Okay.
- 14:49>> So, when she asked you, "Do you know
- 14:52where they are or are you going to tell
- 14:54the truth about where they are?" You
- 14:55failed me certainly.
- 14:57>> Okay. Why?
- 15:00I'm I'm a nervous person. Like every
- 15:02question to ask, every question I felt
- 15:04like I did I wouldn't couldn't say the
- 15:07right thing. That's not how the
- 15:08polygraph works. I like I don't know
- 15:10like what it reads like I know she was
- 15:13saying about the autonomy of of the
- 15:17process but like
- 15:20I don't know where they're at.
- 15:23Chris, right now your dad's outside. He
- 15:25flew across the country to help you.
- 15:27>> Okay.
- 15:29You're lying to him.
- 15:40lied to everyone you talked to
- 15:43and they all bought it.
- 15:48Will you please help us find your
- 15:50babies?
- 15:51I want to find them. I've told you over
- 15:54and over. I want to find everyone.
- 16:00>> Can we go back to that night?
- 16:02>> Yeah. You know that we have texts
- 16:06and we know that there's an Alexa in
- 16:08your house.
- 16:09>> Mhm.
- 16:10>> And you know that those are trained to
- 16:11record distress.
- 16:14Okay.
- 16:16You know that we know the content of
- 16:18Nikki's text messages and your text
- 16:20messages and Shannan's text messages.
- 16:23Okay. I didn't know you knew where Nikki
- 16:26was until right now. So Okay.
- 16:30Tell us about that night again. And
- 16:32please tell the truth. It's not.
- 16:35I I told you the truth. I I promise I've
- 16:38told you the truth. Like woke up at
- 16:404:00.
- 16:43I woke up at 4:00.
- 16:46Got dressed, got ready,
- 16:504:15
- 16:54about the house, about preparation.
- 16:59Did you guys talk about Nikki?
- 17:01She she accused me of like all right,
- 17:04you know, is there somebody else?
- 17:06>> Sure.
- 17:07>> I didn't say it.
- 17:08>> You denied it?
- 17:09>> Yeah.
- 17:09>> Okay. Cuz she brought up like, you know,
- 17:11like, well, is there a $68 charge at the
- 17:14end of the other night?
- 17:15>> Okay.
- 17:16>> Was there two of you?
- 17:17>> And that was with two of you, wasn't it?
- 17:18>> Yes.
- 17:19>> Okay. That's me.
- 17:21>> Okay. So, it sounds like at that time
- 17:23there was maybe you weren't quite ready
- 17:25to just say
- 17:27everything.
- 17:28>> I couldn't I couldn't say it. Okay.
- 17:32>> I've already crying hard enough. I
- 17:34couldn't I couldn't I couldn't say that.
- 17:36>> Okay.
- 17:38What did she say?
- 17:40>> I just told her like I this separation
- 17:42has to go. I don't want separation.
- 17:44>> Okay. Was it her idea to sell the house
- 17:47of yours?
- 17:48>> She initiated the realtor the week
- 17:50before an email. Why?
- 17:53>> Because we were talking about we the
- 17:56marold issue. She's like, "Well, you
- 17:58can't live afford to live on her own."
- 18:00Well, she can't afford to live on her
- 18:01own. I can't afford to live on my own.
- 18:02So, she's like, "We need to contact an
- 18:07who' you contact?"
- 18:09>> Well, she contact our realtor Ann.
- 18:11>> Yeah.
- 18:12>> Okay.
- 18:14Would Ann say the same thing that your
- 18:15wife initiated the contract? Okay. She
- 18:18would
- 18:20on Monday, I was I texted her to see if
- 18:22she could what she could do.
- 18:24>> Okay. And that's in there, too. You
- 18:26probably already knew that.
- 18:28>> Tell me about the pregnancy. Is that
- 18:30your idea or hers?
- 18:31>> She said it was about She was about
- 18:338020. Well, I was about I went into the
- 18:36pros and cons of it. Like after she got
- 18:39after she got pregnant, she told
- 18:40everybody that it was mainly my idea.
- 18:43>> Is that true?
- 18:44>> Yeah. I mean, it was I I wanted a boy.
- 18:47>> Did you want to get pregnant?
- 18:49>> Okay. And then after the fact she said
- 18:51it was mainly me that wanted and she was
- 18:54about, you know, she 7030 against it at
- 18:57that point. Like she would tell her
- 18:59friends that.
- 18:59>> Yeah.
- 19:00>> I was just like, what? 7030 against it?
- 19:02Like why?
- 19:04>> Okay.
- 19:11Can you understand that some of this
- 19:12just doesn't make sense to us?
- 19:15Okay.
- 19:20How is it possible that a woman and two
- 19:22kids are just completely gone off the
- 19:24face of the earth?
- 19:26I promise you I have I have nothing on
- 19:30my hands. That's I did nothing to those
- 19:32kids or her
- 19:34to make them vanish.
- 19:38So tell me what happened then. I believe
- 19:40you that you did nothing on your hands.
- 19:42What happened
- 19:44when I left? I mean, it's on video that
- 19:46I left and I was in my truck. I didn't
- 19:49like load anything into my truck besides
- 19:51my tools, my container, my book bag, my
- 19:54water jug, my lunchbox.
- 19:56>> Okay. But then what happened?
- 19:59>> I drove out of the driveway.
- 20:01>> No, before you drove out of the
- 20:02driveway, what happened with your wife
- 20:04and your kids?
- 20:05>> I didn't do anything like that. They
- 20:08were still in the house.
- 20:09>> Where are they? Where did they go?
- 20:11>> I don't know, sir. I really don't know.
- 20:14Your wife's not the type of person to
- 20:16vanish.
- 20:16>> I know she's not.
- 20:17>> She had 10 things on her schedule that
- 20:18meant she was going to be there the next
- 20:20day, that day, the day after that, with
- 20:22friends, with a doctor. Okay. She didn't
- 20:25leave because she wanted to.
- 20:27>> Okay. So, what happened?
- 20:29>> I didn't do anything to hurt or the
- 20:30kids.
- 20:32>> Was it an accident?
- 20:34>> I didn't do anything.
- 20:35>> Was it an accident?
- 20:37>> There was no accident. I don't If there
- 20:39was an accident in the house, I wasn't
- 20:40there for it.
- 20:42It's a big deal if it's an accident
- 20:43because we can work with that. Chris,
- 20:45no.
- 20:46>> That's maybe what happened.
- 20:47>> There's no I did not cause an accident.
- 20:49I didn't do anything to my wife and
- 20:52kids.
- 20:55>> Was it a misunderstanding?
- 20:56>> There's no misunderstanding. Like we had
- 20:58a talk.
- 21:00There was a misunderstanding where I I
- 21:02didn't tell her about the affair.
- 21:05>> Okay.
- 21:05>> I didn't that that was misunderstanding.
- 21:08Like miscommunicated. I misunderstand
- 21:09that. Good. But
- 21:13I probably should have told her right
- 21:14then, honestly. I mean, everything was
- 21:16out on the table anyways,
- 21:18>> right? I should have just told her right
- 21:19then, but I didn't cuz I I just couldn't
- 21:23bring myself to do it.
- 21:25What was your plan? What were you going
- 21:27to do? I mean, how is your separation
- 21:28going to work? like once we got
- 21:32separated and I get my own place and
- 21:35then we I mean
- 21:39good split with the kids. That's what I
- 21:41was hoping.
- 21:42>> Mhm.
- 21:43>> What about Nik,
- 21:49you know, if anything develops like when
- 21:52I'm, you know, at my own place. Okay.
- 22:01I just I just find it hard to hear you
- 22:04talk about this having this emotional,
- 22:08you know, conversation with Shannan and
- 22:10you're balling and crying together and
- 22:13you have not shed one tear in two days
- 22:15that you've been here.
- 22:17>> Not one. And I help me understand that
- 22:20because I don't get it. You're These are
- 22:23your baby girls
- 22:25and you have not shed one tear over them
- 22:29not being around.
- 22:33Chris, I I I lose my four-year-old in
- 22:36the store for 10 seconds and I start to
- 22:39go panic panic.
- 22:42I have not seen any of that from you at
- 22:45all.
- 22:47Help me understand that.
- 22:48>> I love those girls. I I would never do
- 22:50any just because I haven't shed a tear.
- 22:52You get
- 22:53>> Yeah. No, that's weird. Is that weird?
- 22:56>> Don't Don't look into that like I don't
- 22:59love my kids.
- 23:00>> Tell me. Explain to me. You're You're
- 23:01crying with your wife that you're
- 23:02leaving her.
- 23:03>> Yeah.
- 23:04>> But you don't cry that your two little
- 23:06baby girls.
- 23:07>> I'm hoping they're still around some.
- 23:08I'm hoping they're still somewhere.
- 23:10Dude,
- 23:10>> you have them right now. You're not
- 23:12reading stories to them at night. You're
- 23:14not giving them midnight snacks.
- 23:16>> You're not giving them their medicine.
- 23:18You're not waking up with him in the
- 23:20morning.
- 23:22>> I know this. Like I
- 23:23>> So that should cause you pain.
- 23:26>> It does cause him pain,
- 23:27>> but I don't see that. I don't see that.
- 23:30I want to see the Chris that cares. I
- 23:32want to see the Chris that, you know,
- 23:34feels bad about what he did and wants
- 23:36to,
- 23:37>> you know, get this off his chest and be
- 23:38done with this and let us find your
- 23:40little girls so that they're not out
- 23:42there in the middle of a field or
- 23:44whatever somewhere. Like, don't do that.
- 23:47I I love those girls to
- 23:49>> show us that. Show us that.
- 23:52>> Show us this Chris. Not this Chris.
- 23:55>> I'm not I'm not showing you that. I'm
- 23:58showing you the Chris that cares about
- 23:59his girls and his wife. Just because I
- 24:02haven't shed a tear shouldn't make you
- 24:03feel like I haven't that the love isn't
- 24:06there for them.
- 24:08>> It's weird. It doesn't make sense. I
- 24:11understand that.
- 24:11>> You have to I totally see where you're
- 24:14coming from. Trust me. Like there's no
- 24:19just because I
- 24:20>> People can be pushed to the point where
- 24:22they do something that they regret. It
- 24:25happens every single day.
- 24:26>> I know.
- 24:28>> But part of what makes you a man is the
- 24:30guy that goes really [ __ ] up,
- 24:34but this is what I did and I'm going to
- 24:36pay for what I did and I'm going to tell
- 24:38you what I did and I'm going to be
- 24:40honest about it.
- 24:42>> Chris, we can keep talking to you once
- 24:44we find these girls. Okay. But once we
- 24:46find these girls and your wife, right,
- 24:48no matter how we find them, no matter
- 24:50what condition they're in, we can keep
- 24:52talking to you and you can tell us,
- 24:54"Guys, it's not as bad as it looks." And
- 24:57you can say, "Let me tell you what
- 25:00happened. I was never comfortable with
- 25:01you, Graham, or with you, Tamo. I wasn't
- 25:03comfortable yet, but now that
- 25:05everything's known, now that these girls
- 25:06are found and Shenan's found, however
- 25:09they're found, it's okay. We can keep
- 25:11talking to you." Okay. Chris, did Shenan
- 25:14do something to them?
- 25:15>> No, I don't know.
- 25:16>> I'm serious. I
- 25:17>> I have no clue.
- 25:18>> No, you wouldn't know cuz they didn't
- 25:20leave the house.
- 25:22>> Did Shenan do something to them? And
- 25:24then did you feel like you had to do
- 25:25something to Shenan? No.
- 25:28>> No, they were at the house when I left.
- 25:31They were there.
- 25:33>> They weren't there. They didn't leave.
- 25:35They vanished.
- 25:40The only way they could have left is in
- 25:43your truck.
- 25:45>> There's no way cuz like I didn't just
- 25:47throw them in in my truck that they
- 25:50>> You know your truck has GPS? Yes.
- 25:52>> Right.
- 25:52>> Yes.
- 25:52>> Cuz you told your boss like, "Hey, I'm
- 25:54going through separation or maybe
- 25:55staying at a friend's house, whatever."
- 25:57>> You know that thing pings every 10
- 25:59seconds.
- 25:59>> Yep.
- 26:00>> So we will know
- 26:05>> where you went. And your company's
- 26:07giving that to us.
- 26:07>> I know.
- 26:08>> Okay.
- 26:11>> Are we not asking the right questions,
- 26:12Chris?
- 26:13>> You're asking all the question all the
- 26:15questions.
- 26:16>> What are we not asking you right? What
- 26:17What are we doing wrong?
- 26:18>> You're not doing anything wrong.
- 26:26Did she do something?
- 26:30She did anything to these kids. We both
- 26:32love them with all our hearts. There's
- 26:33no way. It could have been an accident.
- 26:38Something happened in the house that you
- 26:39know about. You failed the polygraph
- 26:42test, right? This is not about did you
- 26:44leave and your wife vanished and you
- 26:45didn't know anything about it. That was
- 26:47not what you were asked. Okay.
- 26:49>> We know that something happened to all
- 26:51three of them.
- 26:53>> But I want to know did something
- 26:55happened to these baby girls first that
- 26:57you had to take into your own hands and
- 26:59deal with.
- 27:00>> You had to clean it up for us. Yeah.
- 27:04Chris begins to break. Listen carefully
- 27:07here. Chris starts describing what he
- 27:09says he saw on the baby monitor. He says
- 27:12Shannon did it. He says the girls were
- 27:14already gone when he found them. Whether
- 27:16you believe him or not, this is the
- 27:18moment the confession begins.
- 27:22>> Chris, you got to tell us. There's
- 27:24something that happened to these baby
- 27:26girls.
- 27:34Look at them.
- 27:34>> I know.
- 27:36Before you came in, I was just watching
- 27:38videos.
- 27:42>> We have no doubt you love these girls
- 27:44with all of your heart.
- 27:47I have no doubt.
- 27:50But we make mistakes.
- 27:52And
- 27:52>> that's okay.
- 27:55>> It's what we do with those mistakes that
- 27:57make us who we are.
- 28:01crazy. It seems like you're thinking
- 28:02about it right now. What are you
- 28:03thinking about?
- 28:05She could have.
- 28:11I feel like you cleaned up for her.
- 28:17I feel like that's the type of guy that
- 28:18you are.
- 28:28Which one of these has the breathing
- 28:30thing?
- 28:31>> Well, they both have inhalers, but she
- 28:33has the EOE
- 28:35influis.
- 28:37>> Did she have problems breathing?
- 28:44>> Probably like with her allergies and
- 28:46whatnot, like if she had anything nice,
- 28:48but she's had two with endoscopies and
- 28:50everything in the surgeries I told you
- 28:52about.
- 28:53Do you think she had trouble breathing
- 28:55that night and Shannan freaked out
- 28:59and didn't want to live without her baby
- 29:02girl?
- 29:06I don't think so.
- 29:10>> Did you hear about the homicide that
- 29:12happened in Aurora where the guy beat
- 29:14that family to death with a ballpeen
- 29:15hammer?
- 29:17>> Mhm.
- 29:19The only person that survived was a
- 29:21three-year-old sibling.
- 29:23And that sibling grew up to be a total
- 29:25mess.
- 29:27No family, no mom and dad, no brother or
- 29:30sister,
- 29:32just sort of by herself.
- 29:35She says, "I wish I would have died with
- 29:37them."
- 29:39And there are times that people freak
- 29:41out. I've seen it. I mean, I've been in
- 29:43law enforcement for almost 20 years.
- 29:45I've seen it.
- 29:48parents freak out and they're like, "Oh
- 29:50my god." Like, I can't have my baby
- 29:54girls live without each other. They're
- 29:56best friends.
- 29:59They're like twins. They're, you know,
- 30:01they wake each other up in the morning.
- 30:04And I understand that.
- 30:09We had a mom in Castle Rock
- 30:12that suffocated both her baby girls.
- 30:19She's like, I just my husband was going
- 30:21to take them. And she's like, I just
- 30:23couldn't I just couldn't hand I thought
- 30:25I was doing right by them.
- 30:28I thought I was saving them pain.
- 30:33>> And I did it.
- 30:35>> Why?
- 30:36How' you saving the pain?
- 30:39>> Cuz she didn't want them to have to live
- 30:40without their mom.
- 30:47Christmas is a weight that's going to be
- 30:48on you for the rest of your life until
- 30:50we resolve it tonight.
- 30:53Unless we can talk about this more
- 30:55tonight, this is going to follow you
- 30:57forever. I promise you when you start
- 30:59talking to us, you will feel better. I
- 31:01know you already feel better about
- 31:03getting the Nikki off your chest. She's
- 31:06She's like involved her in the news or
- 31:08anything like that. She's can't do that.
- 31:11You got to help me. I know.
- 31:14Chris, we're giving you a lifeline right
- 31:15now. You need to take it. You need to
- 31:17reach out and take it.
- 31:20>> Did they look like this tonight? The
- 31:21last night you were with them.
- 31:24>> She had that dress on like
- 31:29on the 8th or 9th. It wasn't this, but
- 31:34she had that dress on. So, I remember I
- 31:36had that two buttons on the back.
- 31:39I take them off so I get her on that
- 31:41night.
- 31:43Did you guys make sure they were warm
- 31:44when they left the house?
- 31:48Make sure they were warm.
- 31:51They're They're always warm. They're
- 31:53They always have When they're in their
- 31:55beds, they're always warm. Okay.
- 32:01>> Were you just taking care of them at the
- 32:02very end?
- 32:04They're always They're They're always
- 32:06taken care of. They're always They never
- 32:08miss a meal.
- 32:15Chrissy took them out of the house with
- 32:17their blankets and their animals.
- 32:22Like that's because you cared.
- 32:26That's what a caring dad does. I mean,
- 32:29I'm always caring for these kids.
- 32:31There's no nothing in this in this
- 32:34for my life.
- 32:40I believe that.
- 32:42I believe that. And I believe someone
- 32:44made a mistake whether it was you, you
- 32:46or Shenan.
- 32:48And you either cleaned up after Shenan
- 32:50or you made the mistake. And I mean, I
- 32:53want to believe that maybe Shannan did
- 32:55it and you felt compelled to
- 32:59fix this so Shannan didn't look bad.
- 33:03That's what I That's what I want to
- 33:05believe.
- 33:08But I don't know. You're not telling me
- 33:09that. So, makes me think the worst.
- 33:11Like, did you all three of them? Like, I
- 33:14did not do anything to these kids.
- 33:17Not anything.
- 33:18>> What did she do to them?
- 33:20>> Tell us, Chris.
- 33:23>> Chicks are crazy.
- 33:24>> Can I have a talk with my dad or
- 33:25something?
- 33:27Come. Do you want to bring him in here?
- 33:29>> Nuh-uh. I just can't talk to my dad like
- 33:32flew across the country. Hey, Grand. How
- 33:36about this?
- 33:38If we brought your dad in here, would
- 33:40you please tell him what happened?
- 33:44Can I talk to him? I've been in here for
- 33:46like 5 6 hours and I'm like,
- 33:49"Absolutely, Chris.
- 33:53It's not going to feel any better.
- 33:58He deserves an answer.
- 34:00>> It's your best friend.
- 34:06There's only one person you wanted to
- 34:07hear most, and that's your dad. Chris,
- 34:12what would you tell him?
- 34:15I I love him, and I don't
- 34:19I just I just want him to be by my side.
- 34:23Okay.
- 34:26He knows more than we do that you're a
- 34:28good man.
- 34:30and he knows as much as you want to
- 34:33protect um your wife should not.
- 34:37I think he would tell you to do the
- 34:38right thing
- 34:40before we get him. Can I go out there
- 34:42and talk to him?
- 34:44>> Well, I don't know that you want to do
- 34:45it out there cuz there's a lot of people
- 34:47going through the halls. Should we bring
- 34:49him in here?
- 34:50>> I'll step out.
- 34:53>> Okay.
- 34:54>> Do you need a few minutes with him?
- 34:56>> Okay.
- 34:56>> Okay. Can we just ask a couple more
- 34:59questions?
- 35:06It seems like you're about to get it off
- 35:09your chest.
- 35:14Is there any way that you can help us
- 35:17understand
- 35:19more about Shannan and why maybe
- 35:21something happened
- 35:24so that we don't get a bad picture about
- 35:26her?
- 35:29And what I mean is
- 35:31what happened that night with her
- 35:36far after I talked to her with the
- 35:39girls.
- 35:43It's like when we were having that
- 35:44conversation in bed there.
- 35:46>> Mhm.
- 35:48like when I when I talked to her about
- 35:51the separation and the house and she
- 35:55asked me about the affair and
- 35:56>> okay and that's that's how that
- 35:59conversation went. She was distraught.
- 36:02She she had like mascara on down her
- 36:04face all about it. I mean it was that
- 36:07was emotional.
- 36:09>> Well, how about this?
- 36:12If we bring a new dad, will you promise
- 36:15me you'll talk to him? I'll talk to him.
- 36:18>> Okay.
- 36:19Will you promise me that you'll tell him
- 36:21everything?
- 36:23Would it be easier if you told him he
- 36:25told us?
- 36:27>> I don't know. Okay.
- 36:32I don't know if that's going to be
- 36:33easier or not. I tend to think it's not.
- 36:36I think you're the type of guy that
- 36:38needs to take responsibility because you
- 36:39always have taken responsibility. You've
- 36:41always made the right choice. So, I
- 36:44guess I'm just worried that if we bring
- 36:46your dad in here, that could distract
- 36:48you.
- 36:50What do you think?
- 36:53>> Distract me from like talking to you.
- 36:56>> Yeah.
- 36:58>> I just I just need to talk to him.
- 37:00>> Okay.
- 37:02All right. I know you'll do the right
- 37:04thing. I do. I don't know how long it's
- 37:07going to take.
- 37:09Um,
- 37:11I think that you need to think a little
- 37:13bit more about them, okay?
- 37:15>> And you need to realize that your dad is
- 37:17not going to stop loving you no matter
- 37:18what you tell him. You are his child
- 37:22and he will not stop loving you.
- 37:26>> Never.
- 37:26>> Never.
- 37:27>> And this is not the last chapter in
- 37:29anyone's story at all. Okay.
- 37:39He's been here the whole time. You know,
- 37:42he didn't want to leave you.
- 37:45Have you ever seen uh sometimes when an
- 37:48animal's owner dies, they stick around
- 37:50forever? I think that's your dad.
- 37:58Poor guy didn't want to leave today.
- 38:00Okay.
- 38:02So, keep that in mind.
- 38:07He wants to hear it all.
- 38:13>> All right.
- 38:45I know
- 38:50what's going on or
- 38:54this polygraph
- 38:57failed it.
- 38:58I there cuz there's too much emotions.
- 39:02It's
- 39:04I mean they're
- 39:06not going to let me go.
- 39:13There's any reason why they shouldn't
- 39:15pay.
- 39:17They know I had a fair
- 39:20and they they know I can't complain
- 39:23about that.
- 39:30They let you affair. Mhm.
- 39:34>> Anything else you want to tell me what's
- 39:36what's going on or what might have
- 39:38happened or anything? The only thing
- 39:42we had that conversation that morning,
- 39:44it was,
- 39:47you know, it was emotional. It was
- 39:50told about separation and everything
- 39:52like that.
- 39:52>> Mhm.
- 40:02What happened after that?
- 40:05I mean, I'll be downstairs.
- 40:14I don't want to protect her. What? I
- 40:16don't want to protect her.
- 40:18You don't want to protect her?
- 40:21I don't know what else to say.
- 40:27She
- 40:29heard him. Yeah.
- 40:34And then I
- 40:36know I heard her. You heard her.
- 40:43Did they leave after that for a long
- 40:45time?
- 40:49So she started she started again
- 41:19open.
- 41:21I didn't hear anything.
- 41:24When I was downstairs, they came back up
- 41:25and they're gone.
- 41:33I don't know. Let me talk top 10. I'm
- 41:35talking to her about that.
- 41:40Talk to her about separation and
- 41:41everything about lost.
- 41:44I don't know like what else to say, but
- 41:48I freaked out.
- 41:54Those are my kids.
- 42:05So, she
- 42:08found that one time
- 42:10you were leaving a word. And
- 42:18she freaked out over the separation.
- 42:21>> Like it was she laid back down upstairs,
- 42:24but
- 42:26I heard like a little commotion
- 42:28upstairs, but I didn't think anything of
- 42:30it.
- 42:34>> And then you went back upstairs and she
- 42:36just
- 42:37I didn't see like she was
- 42:43want choking it or
- 42:48she

- 42:56she
- 42:58I forgot the
- 43:09say
- 43:19I might call the call cops about it.
- 43:28all the bodies off or something.
- 43:33I mean, I didn't know what else to do. I
- 43:36didn't forget. I didn't know nothing
- 43:38else to do. I didn't know what to do.
- 43:42>> She killed
- 43:45choker.
- 43:55Not just this rage.
- 44:28I'm so sorry.
- 44:30I'm emotional.
- 44:35God,
- 44:38like in her heart, I know she knew about
- 44:40the affair. She just was waiting for me
- 44:42to say something and for me to deny it
- 44:44again. She just lost it.
- 44:47She went off and told her about me
- 44:49that's the crying like happened.
- 45:11What's going
- 45:22She told her about told her about her
- 45:24confirm.
- 45:30She just knew. She just knew.
- 45:34I could deny all that long. She listen
- 46:00her say well I think she's new like her
- 46:04happening. But I just denied it.
- 46:22I thought you told her before about
- 46:24separation,
- 46:28>> but you know,
- 46:31she was hoping we go to counseling or
- 46:33something.
- 46:46She lost it.
- 46:49I don't know where she
- 46:53did she that morning, too.
- 47:10I'm sure.
- 47:41I'm so sorry.
- 48:13No matter what
- 48:17last time I can feel again.
- 48:20>> Sure. It's the last time I don't see a

- 50:13Could you help us work through this with
- 50:15you? Okay.
- 50:20Will you tell us what you told your dad?
- 50:26Half of that conversation
- 50:29water.
- 50:31>> Yeah.
- 50:33>> After that conversation we had and she
- 50:37accused me of the affair. She in her
- 50:40heart she knew what was going on and she
- 50:43knew about the dinner the other night.
- 50:45It's too much for just me.
- 50:50about what now?
- 50:51>> When I told her I went to a Rockies
- 50:54game, I went up to bed.
- 51:01I went downstairs.
- 51:05You told her about your separation.
- 51:07>> Well, that was that was upstairs in bed.
- 51:11You know what I wanted in the comment of
- 51:14separation.
- 51:16That's what I want.
- 51:26went downstairs and
- 51:30started packing up a few things and I
- 51:32heard a couple things upstairs, but I
- 51:34didn't think anything of it.
- 51:39Continue this
- 51:41thing and get ready to get everything
- 51:43back up.
- 51:53Next

- 52:01her again.
- 52:06I found the monitor.
- 52:10Buzz covers were like pulled off and she
- 52:12was just laying there.
- 52:19It's hot.
- 52:29She was in there

- 59:06>> Huh?
- 59:08She says, "Please don't think anything
- 59:09less of me. Let's talk about that."
- 59:17>> Are they all three out there, Chris?
- 59:18>> Yes.
- 59:19>> Okay.
- 59:24What was she doing to Cece?
- 59:27She's just on top of her room.

- 59:55same thing to her.
- 1:00:06Did you ever go into balance room
- 1:00:12back in that I saw her on the monitor?
- 1:00:15The way she was laying, the bed just
- 1:00:17sprawled out.
- 1:00:24Is that when you packed up their special
- 1:00:26stuff?
- 1:00:30So, where did you put them to get him
- 1:00:32out there?
- 1:00:35In the truck.
- 1:00:36>> Which part?
- 1:00:42>> The passenger compartment
- 1:00:45said
- 1:00:48my teeth
- 1:00:58on the way out there.
- 1:01:04and my babies are gone.
- 1:01:10And I put my hands around my wife's neck
- 1:01:15and did that same thing.
- 1:01:24>> Did Shenan fight back at all when you
- 1:01:27did that?
- 1:01:32The rage that I had after seeing that
- 1:01:34thing
- 1:01:36not much.
- 1:01:44How do you know she was dead?
- 1:02:05quick on her Facebook page like two days
- 1:02:08ago.

- 1:02:46just had a sheep over across the head
- 1:02:48all you can see his feet hanging out
- 1:02:50saying like Bella had done that. The kid
- 1:02:53won't do that.
- 1:02:56>> Do you remember that, Chris?
- 1:02:58What do you think?
- 1:03:03Did
- 1:03:03>> she make fun of it?

- 1:03:11>> I don't know.
- 1:03:17But I don't care. I don't think she do
- 1:03:19something.
- 1:03:23I've seen their dolls and stuff on the

- 1:03:27something like that covering their head
- 1:03:29and everything.
- 1:03:32>> Think there's what body laying there or
- 1:03:34something.
- 1:03:42It sounds like kind of
- 1:03:43>> I'm sorry.
- 1:03:47>> I mean, you knew what was going to
- 1:03:49happen. Mhm.
- 1:03:51You stay for a reason.

- 1:03:56>> I'm not a good man.
- 1:03:58>> Well, you stayed. You wanted to talk.

- 1:04:02still stay. That's what a good man does.
- 1:04:06>> Stayed there for 6 hours and 11 minutes
- 1:04:08so far.
- 1:04:11Just staring you in the face.
- 1:04:14>> I'm glad you did.
- 1:04:17I can see I mean rage would come out and
- 1:04:20see her kids then you don't know you
- 1:04:25don't know when you look at
- 1:04:42your dad no matter what
- 1:04:45>> could you

- 1:05:24>> And when you came in, she was right
- 1:05:25there on top.
- 1:05:25>> She was right there.

- 1:06:50I do?
- 1:06:50>> Right.
- 1:06:53>> Anything that I would do from there was
- 1:06:54just going to be just
- 1:06:57insensitive and just a horrible thing.
- 1:07:03You were in a tough spot. I think what
- 1:07:04can you do? Right.
- 1:07:07Sometimes your body just kind of takes
- 1:07:09the burdens.
- 1:07:36So looking over dinner
- 1:07:56what's going to happen.
- 1:07:58We're going to help him get out of

- 1:08:25"Why did you go to begin with?"
- 1:08:27>> Well, they weren't in your shoes. They
- 1:08:29don't know.
- 1:08:30>> They weren't living in your life.

- 1:08:57>> we'll just take little steps tonight
- 1:08:58then. How about that?
- 1:09:01Yeah.
- 1:09:05>> Do you have to have any of them with

- 1:09:20their dad.
- 1:09:21>> You don't want to go out there.
- 1:09:26>> And you don't want someone else to find

- 1:10:11me?
- 1:10:21[ __ ] dude.

- 1:11:42but I I can't do that. Do you want me to
- 1:11:45take you out to the lobby and you can go
- 1:11:46to the bathroom and then text your wife
- 1:11:48and stuff, talk to them?
- 1:11:50>> Want to go outside?

- 1:12:03make sure that we uh you know, we don't
- 1:12:06stand to gain anything by broadcasting
- 1:12:08any of this. That's not what law
- 1:12:09enforcement is ever really about.
- 1:12:11>> So, we're going to try our best to
- 1:12:13handle that as discreetly as possible,
- 1:12:15but they're pretty good at what they do,
- 1:12:17too.
- 1:12:19He said, "I'm not from I'm not from
- 1:12:21around here neither already."
- 1:12:23>> Uh, I've only been here a few years.
- 1:12:24>> Okay.
- 1:12:25>> Yeah. I'm going to find a lawyer or
- 1:12:27something for not a public defender, but
- 1:12:29somebody else.

- 1:12:35get your phone
- 1:12:37about it. Okay. Let's go this way. All
- 1:12:39right.

- 1:13:07so Tam is just telling him to show him
- 1:13:10that picture.
- 1:13:11>> Yeah.
- 1:13:14>> Um, and then we're going to talk a
- 1:13:15little bit about how the rest of the
- 1:13:16night's going to go. Um,
- 1:13:19>> that look familiar to you? What is that?
- 1:13:21>> That's the PRC survey 319.
- 1:13:24>> Okay.
- 1:13:25Where abouts
- 1:13:28the man and the girls?
- 1:13:32>> How old is this picture?

- 1:14:30>> Can somebody who doesn't know what
- 1:14:31they're doing open those?
- 1:14:32>> Okay. It's easy to open.
- 1:14:33>> What's in the tanks?
- 1:14:35>> It's a mixture of oil and water.
- 1:14:44>> There was a sheet found down here. Mhm.
- 1:14:46>> What was that from?
- 1:14:48>> That was what Chanel was wrapped in.
- 1:14:51>> What about the curies? What were they

- 1:14:58Not with their blankets or anything.
- 1:15:02Where did their blankets and toys and
- 1:15:04stuff go?
- 1:15:06>> Probably flew away in the wind or
- 1:15:08something. Right here.
- 1:15:10>> Where did you shut them or put them?
- 1:15:12>> It was right here with But
- 1:15:18>> so how did you dig this out? I'm
- 1:15:21assuming that's under dirt.

- 1:15:25>> Is that a shovel in the back of my truck
- 1:15:26still?
- 1:15:28>> There's like a work shovel. Is it still

- 1:15:48So she got the bed with.
- 1:15:50Do you remember what color her shirt
- 1:15:52was? Her her underwear.
- 1:15:56I think her shirt was either black or
- 1:15:57gray.
- 1:15:59It was probably blue.
- 1:16:05How much time passed, do you think, from
- 1:16:07the time that
- 1:16:09she was back in the bed
- 1:16:11until you put him in the truck?
- 1:16:31I'm not sure.
- 1:16:35Are we talking minutes, hours,
- 1:16:38something else?
- 1:16:41From when I when I left the house.
- 1:16:44>> Yeah. Like from when you got her in the
- 1:16:46bed to when you put him in the trunk.
- 1:16:49How long did that How long a time was
- 1:16:52that?
- 1:16:58So like from when pushing it in my
- 1:17:01truck. From from the bed to the truck.
- 1:17:04>> Yeah. From your master bed to the truck.
- 1:17:06Yeah.
- 1:17:09>> And it's
- 1:17:10>> okay.
- 1:17:12Cuz you talked about covering her up or
- 1:17:13something.
- 1:17:14>> Yeah. And the feet.
- 1:17:22Is there anything else about anything
- 1:17:24out here that has stuff that you've left
- 1:17:27in certain spots? Or you sure there
- 1:17:30blankets and toys aren't going to be in
- 1:17:32there as well?
- 1:17:34>> Not cuz it was right here, but there she
- 1:17:41>> can do me a huge favor and just write
- 1:17:43your name on the bottom.
- 1:17:46Just find another way to make those
- 1:17:48marks.
- 1:17:52I'm just going to write the date on it.
- 1:17:53Okay.
- 1:17:588:15
- 1:18:00at 556.
- 1:18:05Was she wearing Was your wife wearing
- 1:18:07any shorts or pants or anything? Just
- 1:18:08under.
- 1:18:10>> Okay. What? They look like
- 1:18:13blue. Just blue. Okay. Um
- 1:18:17Okay.
- 1:18:19And the girls too what their pajamas
- 1:18:21were
- 1:18:25both
- 1:18:26both night gowns. Okay.
- 1:18:32So I think was that pink one with the
- 1:18:34like herbs on it.
- 1:18:36>> Okay. I think those was
- 1:18:40her unicorn or believe on it or
- 1:18:43something.
- 1:18:44>> Okay.
- 1:18:45So, it sounds like I mean it feels like
- 1:18:47to me now we know pretty well how to go
- 1:18:49get him. Is there anything else we need
- 1:18:51to know?
- 1:19:08>> About how to get them.
- 1:19:09>> Yeah. is uh does someone have to clamp
- 1:19:12up to the top and unscrew something and
- 1:19:14then lower something down to get them?
- 1:19:17>> They're like just a hatch from the top
- 1:19:20and they're like 20ft tanks.
- 1:19:22>> How far down are they?
- 1:19:27>> Wherever the food was in the tank. I'm
- 1:19:29not sure.
- 1:19:29>> Okay. What was it when you were there?
- 1:19:31>> I don't know. I didn't Okay.
- 1:19:33>> I wasn't looking for that.
- 1:19:35>> Okay. All right.
- 1:19:39You mean go out there or no?
- 1:19:41>> I don't think so. Would you prefer not
- 1:19:43to?
- 1:19:43>> I didn't know if we needed help going
- 1:19:46getting there.
- 1:19:46>> Yeah, I don't know. Um I think once we
- 1:19:48got that picture cuz we didn't really
- 1:19:50know um how much uh about the location
- 1:19:55that the other police officers knew, but
- 1:19:57it sounds like they knew somehow right
- 1:19:59know right how to get to 319. So, and I
- 1:20:03think that's how they got that picture.
- 1:20:11Does your um
- 1:20:14does your nanny cam do you have nanny
- 1:20:17cam right?
- 1:20:18>> It's a monitor monitor. Is it video one?
- 1:20:22>> It's like it cycles back and forth
- 1:20:24>> between what? LMT's room.
- 1:20:26>> Oh, okay. Okay.
- 1:20:29Is there any chance it records?
- 1:20:31No. Okay.
- 1:20:34I'm just wondering what do you think
- 1:20:37what do you think ultimately made um
- 1:20:39Shan Snap?
- 1:20:41>> Just knowing that I had an affair or
- 1:20:46she knew she just needed me to admit it
- 1:20:48and I wouldn't admit it.
- 1:20:49>> Yeah. Okay.
- 1:20:54>> So, we just started talking about um I
- 1:20:56asked if there's any chance that the
- 1:20:57nanny cam could have recorded doing what
- 1:21:00she did. Um, and then we kind of we were
- 1:21:03just getting into, you know, what Chris
- 1:21:06thinks about why she snapped.
- 1:21:07>> Mhm.
- 1:21:08>> Um, he's just standing distressed from
- 1:21:12knowing about the other girl.
- 1:21:15Um,
- 1:21:18>> knowing that she didn't really know,
- 1:21:20right? I mean, in
- 1:21:21>> her heart, she she knew. She just wanted
- 1:21:24me to admit it.
- 1:21:33Can we talk about a couple tough things?
- 1:21:36Um, I think we need to get it out of the
- 1:21:38way and just really get it out. Um, just
- 1:21:41to make sure you have every chance to
- 1:21:44explain exactly what happened and we
- 1:21:45have every chance to ask questions. Um,
- 1:21:50so the conversation happened.
- 1:21:53You go downstairs. She's still upstairs.
- 1:21:57And then you see what
- 1:22:00>> I hear just commotion upstairs just like
- 1:22:03you know like
- 1:22:05noises like that.
- 1:22:06>> Okay.
- 1:22:08I didn't think anything of it.
- 1:22:20>> So it's not as though that annoys me to
- 1:22:21run up. You just stop. No, I didn't. I
- 1:22:23didn't. Okay.
- 1:22:25>> Register with me. But
- 1:22:29>> I looked in the monitor and it was on
- 1:22:32Bella.
- 1:22:33>> And where is the monitor? Where's the
- 1:22:35screen that you look at? Is it up or
- 1:22:36downstairs?
- 1:22:37>> It's upstairs.
- 1:22:38>> Okay. So, you go upstairs, look at the
- 1:22:39monitor.
- 1:22:40>> Beside the bed.
- 1:22:41>> Oh, your master bedroom. Okay. Beside
- 1:22:43the bed.
- 1:22:43>> She's not in her bed.
- 1:22:44>> It's still right there. Okay. She want
- 1:22:46to look at it.
- 1:22:48>> It was on Bella. Her covers were pulled
- 1:22:51back. She was just called out there.
- 1:22:57Then it cycled over. It's like a 3,
- 1:23:00four, 5 second
- 1:23:02like interval between when they when it
- 1:23:04cycles from room to room.
- 1:23:07I cycled over to see the room. That's
- 1:23:10when I saw her on top of her. That's
- 1:23:11when I ran in. Okay.
- 1:23:23And we don't want anything to be um
- 1:23:26incorrect or inaccurate or or anything
- 1:23:28like that. Um
- 1:23:31was your wife on top of Cece?
- 1:23:34What what did that look like? I mean,
- 1:23:36was she straddling her? Okay. And where
- 1:23:39were they in the bed? On the bed. And so
- 1:23:43your wife was on top of this. I mean,
- 1:23:45was she looking? That's that's when I
- 1:23:47was walking out from the back.
- 1:23:48>> Okay.
- 1:23:49>> I see you saw in the back.
- 1:23:50>> Yeah.
- 1:23:51>> Okay. But she was doing this.
- 1:23:53>> It looked like it was like this.
- 1:23:54>> Yeah. Okay. And then was CC face up,
- 1:23:58face down to the side.
- 1:24:00>> Oh, she was laying on her side. Okay.
- 1:24:02>> That's when I pulled her off.
- 1:24:03>> Okay. She
- 1:24:06was limping. She was blue.
- 1:24:07>> Okay.
- 1:24:08>> There's no movement at all.
- 1:24:10>> Oh, she was limp and blue or limping in
- 1:24:12blue.
- 1:24:12>> Limp and blue.
- 1:24:13>> Limp and blue. Okay.
- 1:24:14>> It's like her body was like
- 1:24:16>> right.
- 1:24:16>> You took her arm up and it's false.
- 1:24:19>> Okay. Um and then what happened?
- 1:24:22>> I looked at her and I just
- 1:24:25on top of her and
- 1:24:27>> you want to talk some shenan
- 1:24:28>> did the same thing.
- 1:24:29>> Okay. Did you have to knock her down?
- 1:24:31>> No.
- 1:24:32>> She was already on the ground.
- 1:24:33>> I was like I just pulled her off on the
- 1:24:35bed and
- 1:24:36>> Oh, kind of one move.
- 1:24:37>> Okay. So, it's not as though you I
- 1:24:39pulled it on out. No, like I went
- 1:24:42>> pulled her down. I did that. I didn't
- 1:24:45know. I lost it. Sure.
- 1:24:48>> Okay.
- 1:24:48>> So, Shenan was laying on the ground.
- 1:24:50>> On the bed.
- 1:24:51>> On the bed.
- 1:24:52>> Yeah. Like when she was on top of the I
- 1:24:54saw what was happening. Per went down on
- 1:24:57the bed.
- 1:24:58>> The bed. What kind of
- 1:25:01a full queen? You know,
- 1:25:03>> I think it's a
- 1:25:06that's probably a queen of some sort. I
- 1:25:08have a picture, I think.
- 1:25:27Okay.
- 1:25:28So, where was the last in?
- 1:25:31>> She was following to the top.
- 1:25:33>> To the top.
- 1:25:34>> Yeah. And I went in and bul down. It was
- 1:25:38acrossways.
- 1:25:41display that's
- 1:25:48okay. Oh, it's a cute room.
- 1:25:51>> Mhm.
- 1:25:52>> So then is this picture as you're
- 1:25:54standing in the doorway to go in with
- 1:25:57that? Is that okay?
- 1:26:02And then so were they closer to this
- 1:26:04side or this side? See if it usually
- 1:26:07sits in the middle. Okay. And so your
- 1:26:09wife was right on top of her. You could
- 1:26:11just see that. And then did you pull her
- 1:26:13this way or that way or
- 1:26:14>> So it's where her head was on this side,
- 1:26:17>> right over here? Yeah. On the on the
- 1:26:19left as you're looking at it. Okay. Did
- 1:26:21you put it?
- 1:26:23>> I I I lost it so much that it didn't
- 1:26:26feel like she did.
- 1:26:27>> Okay. You're a pretty strong dude. Um
- 1:26:32Um Did she Was she yelling? Was she
- 1:26:34screaming? Was she talking? Was she
- 1:26:36scratching you? Nothing.
- 1:26:38I I didn't even feel I just I just felt
- 1:26:43such anger that nothing nothing I didn't
- 1:26:46feel anything.
- 1:26:47>> Okay.
- 1:26:48>> All right.
- 1:26:48>> Like if she did, nothing nothing's on
- 1:26:50me. Was it quick? Was it slow? Was it
- 1:26:56so numb? It felt like it was it was over
- 1:27:01fast.
- 1:27:02>> Over fast. Okay. Felt like
- 1:27:04>> Is it possible her neck's broken?
- 1:27:06>> No. No. So, okay.
- 1:27:10Never broken her bone, so I I don't
- 1:27:12know. Okay. All right.
- 1:27:15Um, was it a choke like this or was it
- 1:27:18like a headlock? A choke? Okay.
- 1:27:22All right.
- 1:27:23>> Can you put your hand out like you had
- 1:27:24your hand?
- 1:27:27>> Like that?
- 1:27:29>> Like that?
- 1:27:31Nice.
- 1:27:34>> And your wife, you saw her with one hand
- 1:27:35or two hands?
- 1:27:36>> I just kind of from the back, I couldn't
- 1:27:38really like tell
- 1:27:44she's on top of her.
- 1:27:47And the monitor's not like color. It's
- 1:27:50black and white. Well, night time. It's
- 1:27:52black and white.
- 1:27:53>> Okay.
- 1:27:57It's dark. So you cuz you went up the
- 1:27:59stairs, right, to talk to
- 1:28:01>> Shenan again and then did you think it
- 1:28:05was weird that she found out in the room
- 1:28:06where you left her?
- 1:28:07>> Mhm. So I walked in, looked around, saw
- 1:28:11the monitor and I saw Bella and then
- 1:28:14switched over to CC pretty fast and
- 1:28:15that's when I saw that.
- 1:28:20Did you have any inkling that um between
- 1:28:23the time that you finished the talk and
- 1:28:25the time that you found Shenan choking,
- 1:28:27she she had no inkling she was going to
- 1:28:29do it? I
- 1:28:30>> think both of those kids more than
- 1:28:34>> Okay.
- 1:28:39People in my family have always said
- 1:28:40she's unstable. My friends have said
- 1:28:41she's unstable, but I never like would
- 1:28:43have thought in a million [ __ ] years.
- 1:28:46>> Who says she's unstable?
- 1:28:50my family, my friend Mark,
- 1:28:54people that have seen her around me.
- 1:29:00>> Picture of her.
- 1:29:01>> Well, it doesn't look good. I'm not
- 1:29:03going to lie.
- 1:29:05Looks actually pretty bad.
- 1:29:10Sorry.
- 1:29:11>> Is it possible that when we get these
- 1:29:14girls, you know, Bella, Cece, and
- 1:29:16Shannan, is it possible when we get them
- 1:29:20um that we're going to see um anything
- 1:29:23other than the cause of death being her
- 1:29:26hands?
- 1:29:27No.
- 1:29:28>> Okay. And what I mean by that, and I
- 1:29:30should be very clear, is that um it it's
- 1:29:36some some of it's hard to believe that
- 1:29:37your wife did it,
- 1:29:39>> right?
- 1:29:40>> You can imagine that. Okay.
- 1:29:41>> So, is it possible that maybe she
- 1:29:46um did one and then you got Shenan, so
- 1:29:50you did the Shannan what she did to one
- 1:29:52of your daughters and then you had to
- 1:29:53just do it to the other to make.
- 1:29:56>> Okay.
- 1:29:57So, is there that that's not what
- 1:29:59happened?
- 1:29:59>> No. Okay.
- 1:30:01>> Um, is it possible that is there any
- 1:30:04other way where we might see your hands
- 1:30:06on the girl's neck?
- 1:30:07>> No. No.
- 1:30:08>> Okay. And you know what I mean? Cuz when
- 1:30:10we find their their little bodies,
- 1:30:12>> we're going to see the diameter of
- 1:30:14someone's hand
- 1:30:15>> and someone's fingers, right? So, is it
- 1:30:17at all possible we're going to see
- 1:30:19yours?
- 1:30:20>> All right. And I know it's hard and I
- 1:30:22know you're probably getting angry at my
- 1:30:24my question, but we have to ask
- 1:30:27Um, okay.
- 1:30:33>> What do you think about that, Chris?
- 1:30:38>> Let my family down.
- 1:30:42>> My dad down, my mom, sister, nephew,
- 1:30:46nie's, friends, co-workers,
- 1:30:53everybody.
- 1:30:59Can I ask you another tough question?
- 1:31:02You just get it all on the table.
- 1:31:06When you see Shenan
- 1:31:09choking, strangling
- 1:31:12Celeste
- 1:31:14and you get her off of Celeste,
- 1:31:18did you think um about calling an
- 1:31:20ambulance?
- 1:31:23How come?
- 1:31:24>> That's not too bad. And they're blue and
- 1:31:25limp.
- 1:31:26>> Mhm.
- 1:31:27>> I never seen something like that in my
- 1:31:29life.
- 1:31:31I mean, she just like laid over like
- 1:31:34nothing was was moving at all. No gas,
- 1:31:37no breath.
- 1:31:39>> So,
- 1:31:39>> she was totally just blew.
- 1:31:41>> So, Chris, doing this job for a long
- 1:31:43time.
- 1:31:43>> I know. I uh I know a lot of about
- 1:31:48psychology and as far as like what
- 1:31:50people are thinking and most parents
- 1:31:54will never even want to fathom that
- 1:31:56their kid or kid is dead. Even if their
- 1:31:59kid's stiff blue in bed and stiff like
- 1:32:02been dead all night, they still call an
- 1:32:04ambulance to see if someone can revive
- 1:32:06their child.
- 1:32:08And they when the ambulance gets there
- 1:32:10and they're like, "Guys, their kids's
- 1:32:13been dead all night. Like, there's
- 1:32:15nothing we can do." And the parents
- 1:32:16like, "What are you why are you not
- 1:32:17doing something? What are you talking
- 1:32:18about?"
- 1:32:19>> So, that's what I'm that's what we're
- 1:32:21used to. So, I just that's why I want
- 1:32:22you to explain to me like what was going
- 1:32:24on in your head and
- 1:32:25>> very felt for what she was what she did
- 1:32:31and just took over.
- 1:32:40But do you see that? That kind of I see
- 1:32:43where you're coming from.
- 1:32:44>> Those parents would still try and call.
- 1:32:45>> I see where you're coming from.
- 1:32:47>> Yeah.
- 1:33:05I just I would hate for Shenan to get a
- 1:33:10bad rap if she didn't have anything to
- 1:33:12do with it, you know? It's not fair.
- 1:33:15>> It's not fair.
- 1:33:18Like enough bad stuff has happened.
- 1:33:20>> Like we need to stop the bad stuff from
- 1:33:22happening.
- 1:33:25>> So you want to tell us the truth?
- 1:33:27>> That is the truth.
- 1:33:32did not hurt this girl.
- 1:33:40That's why I want to make sure.
- 1:33:43Did not hurt those girls.
- 1:33:44>> So, you're good with the public knowing
- 1:33:46that Shannan killed her daughters?
- 1:33:47>> I did not hurt these girls.
- 1:33:49>> Are you okay with the public knowing
- 1:33:50that Shenan?
- 1:33:51>> Yes, cuz I did not hurt these girls.
- 1:33:59Chris, I'm not sure what to do.
- 1:34:14>> I don't think you meant to.
- 1:34:15>> I didn't hurt them.
- 1:34:17>> I don't think you meant to.
- 1:34:18>> I didn't hurt them.
- 1:34:20>> You didn't save them either,
- 1:34:24you know.
- 1:34:25>> I know that.
- 1:34:29I know that.
- 1:34:30>> So, that doesn't make sense either.
- 1:34:32>> None of this makes sense. Nothing like
- 1:34:35why she would be there. Any none of this
- 1:34:38makes sense.
- 1:34:45>> Are you sure Shenan didn't catch you in?
- 1:34:47>> Oh. My god, no.
- 1:34:53Chris, you can imagine that
- 1:34:58we're pretty cynical in our jobs, right?
- 1:35:01And tonight, we've had to talk a lot
- 1:35:03about a lot of things. And
- 1:35:08don't get mad, but what it looks like is
- 1:35:11that
- 1:35:12you found a new life and the only way to
- 1:35:15get that new life was to get rid of your
- 1:35:17old life.
- 1:35:19And I think that you killed these girls
- 1:35:21before their mom came home and then
- 1:35:23killed him now.
- 1:35:26And that's what we're kind of left at.
- 1:35:28That's what we have to believe cuz it
- 1:35:30just doesn't make sense. I mean, to her
- 1:35:32point, if I walked in and my kid was
- 1:35:35decapitated, I call an ambulance,
- 1:35:37>> right?
- 1:35:38>> Knowing there's no hope.
- 1:35:40>> It just it just doesn't make sense. It
- 1:35:42just doesn't add up. So either you're
- 1:35:46this monster
- 1:35:47>> who says I just want this young hot
- 1:35:49girlfriend, so I'm going to kill
- 1:35:51everyone and hope it works out
- 1:35:53>> or something.
- 1:35:55So I think we're very very close to the
- 1:35:58truth, but not by their asses.
- 1:36:04So if you're not that monster,
- 1:36:06>> I'm not a monster. I didn't
- 1:36:11my babies. Okay.
- 1:36:18So,
- 1:36:21you tell us what actually happened. I
- 1:36:22told you what happened. I know. But, you
- 1:36:25know, we're getting later into the day.
- 1:36:27We've done this a few times and we we
- 1:36:30talk, then we show you a little bit of
- 1:36:32what we're working with, some evidence,
- 1:36:33some facts that we know, and then we we
- 1:36:35kind of get our way to the truth.
- 1:36:37>> Truth.
- 1:36:38>> Okay. Everything I've told you, truth.
- 1:36:42So, what's going to happen when their
- 1:36:44cause of death comes back to you or the
- 1:36:46girl? She's not going to.
- 1:36:47>> Okay. Are you sure?
- 1:36:49>> I'm 100% positive it's not going to come
- 1:36:52back to me.
- 1:36:54Who's it going to come back to?
- 1:36:55>> She never on top of CeCe.
- 1:36:58>> Okay.
- 1:37:01>> What are you hoping to say?
- 1:37:03>> I just want the truth.
- 1:37:04>> That is the truth.
- 1:37:05>> And what about Bella?
- 1:37:07>> Bella was laid out sprawled on her bed.
- 1:37:10>> Okay. And I saw Chen on top of CC ran in
- 1:37:14there. Okay.
- 1:37:18>> And what happens when a coroner looks
- 1:37:20and said it sees your fingerprints on
- 1:37:22her neck? It's not going to be my
- 1:37:25fingerprints.
- 1:37:25>> Okay. What is it going to be?
- 1:37:28>> It's going to be Chen. Are you sure?
- 1:37:30Well, we don't know about Bella, right?
- 1:37:32We don't know about Bella. Bella, it's I
- 1:37:35didn't see Chan on top of Okay. That's
- 1:37:37the commotion I heard upstairs. Yeah,
- 1:37:39I'm assuming. Okay.
- 1:37:45Why take their bodies out of the house
- 1:37:47and bury them?
- 1:37:50>> I was scared. I didn't know what else to
- 1:37:52do.
- 1:37:52>> Okay.
- 1:37:53>> Nothing. Nothing.
- 1:37:55Nothing was going to I didn't know what
- 1:37:58to do.
- 1:37:59>> Yeah.
- 1:38:00>> I honestly didn't know what to do.
- 1:38:01Scared of what?
- 1:38:04>> Scared of what everything was going to
- 1:38:05look like. There was my two babies were
- 1:38:07gone. Mhm.
- 1:38:08>> And I I just did that to my wife.
- 1:38:10And I was the only one left in the
- 1:38:12house. What do you expect was going to
- 1:38:13happen?
- 1:38:13>> Yeah, it did look bad, right?
- 1:38:16>> It looked I mean, this was a nightmare.
- 1:38:19>> Yeah.
- 1:38:21Okay.
- 1:38:26>> Just think as many problems as you've
- 1:38:28had with Shenan,
- 1:38:31at the end of the day, she seemed like
- 1:38:33she was a pretty good mom, right?
- 1:38:37>> I was a pretty good dad as well.
- 1:38:40You never really know a person until you
- 1:38:42don't know a person.
- 1:38:53I just would hate for
- 1:38:56someone who can't defend themselves
- 1:38:59like Shenan and Bella and Celeste.
- 1:39:04Like I mean if if if you're not being
- 1:39:06truthful about who took their lives like
- 1:39:10that's on them too.
- 1:39:12>> Mhm.
- 1:39:13>> And you don't want to do that to them.
- 1:39:14>> Not doing that to them.
- 1:39:19>> I'm just saying. I mean
- 1:39:21>> I'm not doing that to them.
- 1:39:30>> I do think you were good dads. I think
- 1:39:32you're I think Shenan was a good mom. I
- 1:39:35think you guys were doing everything you
- 1:39:36could possibly do for those girls. I
- 1:39:39mean, look at them.
- 1:39:42>> Why didn't you put Shan in the tanks?
- 1:39:53I didn't know what else to do.
- 1:39:57>> How far down is she?
- 1:40:00>> I don't know. Like
- 1:40:04like 2 feet maybe.
- 1:40:07>> How long did it take you to dig that?
- 1:40:10>> No.
- 1:40:11>> Give me an idea.
- 1:40:15>> 20 30 minutes.
- 1:40:19>> Does anyone ever like go up this ladder
- 1:40:21and like look in tanks?
- 1:40:23>> Mhm.
- 1:40:24>> So, how are you going to avoid that? Or
- 1:40:27is it you that does that? Anybody that
- 1:40:30goes to the location,
- 1:40:32>> how often is that done that those tanks
- 1:40:34are checked?
- 1:40:39>> Depends if they're
- 1:40:41making enough oil or whatnot. I mean,
- 1:40:44once a week maybe.
- 1:40:46>> So, do you want someone to find them?
- 1:40:49>> I didn't know what else to do to me. I
- 1:40:52>> That was the location I was going out to
- 1:40:54that morning. And that's
- 1:40:57I didn't know what else to do.
- 1:40:59>> So you weren't thinking that far ahead.
- 1:41:01>> No.
- 1:41:01>> Okay.
- 1:41:16Yesterday when you were talking
- 1:41:19um and again this is before we kind of
- 1:41:21got to this um moment today. You
- 1:41:24mentioned that, you know, we were
- 1:41:26talking. You said, "I don't know where
- 1:41:27they are. I don't know where they are."
- 1:41:29And then you said something along the
- 1:41:30lines of, "Whatever happened to him is
- 1:41:32acted pure evil." What did that mean?
- 1:41:38Is this
- 1:41:41the evil that I saw when I walked behind
- 1:41:43Shannan and she was on top of CC?
- 1:41:47And I felt evil for Shenan.
- 1:41:54Okay.
- 1:42:00So,
- 1:42:01one other thing that doesn't make sense
- 1:42:03to me
- 1:42:05is Well, I don't know.
- 1:42:14Can you walk me through again? When you
- 1:42:17walked in, what did she look like? Was
- 1:42:20it shenan like all you saw was her back?
- 1:42:23Was it the same shirt that you buried
- 1:42:25her in? Same underwear and then was she
- 1:42:28wearing pajamas?
- 1:42:30Shenan?
- 1:42:31>> Yeah. No, that's that's what she sleeps
- 1:42:33in. Oh, she sleeps in her underwear.
- 1:42:35Okay. And no pajamas, no shorts, nothing
- 1:42:36like that. So then when you grab her
- 1:42:40um just as is. That's how she gets to
- 1:42:42the truck. That's how she gets to the
- 1:42:44site. Okay.
- 1:42:48So, did Shen ever go to bed?
- 1:42:52>> Like Rob put her back in the bed?
- 1:42:54>> No. No. Like when she got home,
- 1:42:57>> did any of that happened where she got
- 1:42:59into bed and then you woke her up at
- 1:43:014:00? Like it's all that
- 1:43:03>> cuz it looks like there's some purchase
- 1:43:05of some hair care products at like 2:30
- 1:43:08in the morning.
- 1:43:10>> Do you know about that?
- 1:43:11>> Care products
- 1:43:13>> and her credit card was denied.
- 1:43:18No.
- 1:43:19>> You said you don't really use the credit
- 1:43:20card, so probably the
- 1:43:22>> credit card. No.
- 1:43:23>> Would you have bought hair care products
- 1:43:24at 2:30 in the morning that morning?
- 1:43:27>> No.
- 1:43:28>> Did she
- 1:43:30get mad at you because there's no money
- 1:43:33when she woke up? Like, was that part of
- 1:43:35the
- 1:43:37>> That was this the first I've heard of
- 1:43:38that.
- 1:43:39>> Okay.
- 1:43:39>> As far as hair care products and the
- 1:43:41carry denied.
- 1:43:42>> Okay.
- 1:43:44And I'm not lying about that. I'm just
- 1:43:45going to match. That is from something
- 1:43:48that came up.
- 1:43:49>> Is there any reason she would have a
- 1:43:51black eye? Shan?
- 1:43:53>> No.
- 1:43:55>> Not from a slap or a punch or nothing
- 1:43:57like that?
- 1:43:58>> Never.
- 1:43:59>> Okay. Punch her slapped her.
- 1:44:01>> Is there any reason she would have a
- 1:44:02stab mark on her body?
- 1:44:04>> No. Okay.
- 1:44:06>> And no other reason for death.
- 1:44:08>> Coroner's not going to find rat poison
- 1:44:10in her stomach. Okay.
- 1:44:15The only way that she died she was
- 1:44:16living breathing and wasn't living
- 1:44:18breathing after your hands on her neck.
- 1:44:21Okay.
- 1:44:35What were you talking to Mickey about
- 1:44:38before your wife got home?
- 1:44:43before she got home.
- 1:44:45>> We talked for like several hours.
- 1:44:50I mean, we talked a lot. Just
- 1:44:53conversations and just random
- 1:44:55conversations. We talk a lot.
- 1:44:58>> Does Nikki know about any of this?
- 1:45:02>> Seriously?
- 1:45:03>> No, she doesn't know. Like I mean, she
- 1:45:05knows like with from the news and
- 1:45:07everything like that.
- 1:45:08>> Mhm. Anything else? Did you share with
- 1:45:11her? Anything?
- 1:45:14>> Did she know your wife was pregnant?
- 1:45:16>> She doesn't know. And I told her that.
- 1:45:19>> She didn't know at the time.
- 1:45:22You didn't tell her.
- 1:45:24>> I was scared too.
- 1:45:27Felt like, you know,
- 1:45:31like she wouldn't even like gone on a
- 1:45:33date with me and she knew that. does.
- 1:45:37>> Did she know you were married with kids?
- 1:45:40>> Yes.
- 1:45:40>> Okay. But just not pregnant. Yes.
- 1:45:45>> I told her that, you know, like we were
- 1:45:47act we actively tried before we met.
- 1:45:52>> Oh. Try to get pregnant.
- 1:45:54>> Okay. So, she knew that.
- 1:45:58Um, you can imagine that when we go talk
- 1:46:01to people going forward, everyone's
- 1:46:03going to try to distance themselves from
- 1:46:05any of this. And so if what's going to
- 1:46:08happen when Nikki says, "No, it was our
- 1:46:10plan to kill everyone and run out
- 1:46:12together."
- 1:46:15>> She's not going to say that.
- 1:46:17>> Okay. We're going to talk to her.
- 1:46:18>> Absolutely.
- 1:46:20>> We have to.
- 1:46:25So, can we get ahead of that for you?
- 1:46:27Can we get all of that out right now? I
- 1:46:29mean, so are you sure she's not going to
- 1:46:31say, "Oh, I kind of knew he was going to
- 1:46:33kill me."
- 1:46:33>> No,
- 1:46:34>> she's not going to say that.
- 1:46:35>> No.
- 1:46:35>> Okay.
- 1:46:36>> Um, and she's not going to say, "Boy, we
- 1:46:38were making plans about buying a house
- 1:46:40or an apartment." She going to say that?
- 1:46:42>> No. Like, she really
- 1:46:44>> like once I had my own place, like we
- 1:46:46could, you know, like hang out more.
- 1:46:48>> Okay. So after the separation, after
- 1:46:50that dust settled, then you would have
- 1:46:52availability to go see Nikki. And you
- 1:46:55guys had talks like that. Yeah. Like she
- 1:46:58generally like Okay.
- 1:47:03Please don't put her name out there in
- 1:47:05the news though. She's been through
- 1:47:06enough in her life. Then
- 1:47:11stuff like that. We we never try to put
- 1:47:13out. But I just know that if they got
- 1:47:16into an affair, they would they would
- 1:47:18drag her through the mud and I don't
- 1:47:20want that. We're certainly not going to
- 1:47:22try to make that happen.
- 1:47:25>> It's not going on any of this.
- 1:47:27>> I know press conf
- 1:47:30everything.
- 1:47:36>> So what do you think about everything
- 1:47:38now?
- 1:47:41Do
- 1:47:44>> you feel sorry for what you did?
- 1:47:48>> I wish I I wouldn't have lost control
- 1:47:50and
- 1:47:52got on top of his hand and did that
- 1:47:56and then he did that.
- 1:48:01>> What?
- 1:48:03>> Yes.
- 1:48:29So, after we after we look at their
- 1:48:31bodies, we're going to have a lot more
- 1:48:33questions. Um, things are going to be
- 1:48:36different then, but if you're willing,
- 1:48:38we'd love to talk to you then, too.
- 1:48:53You did really good today, Chris. Really
- 1:48:56good. I think you had about 24 hours of
- 1:49:00just a hellish nightmare thrust upon
- 1:49:02you. And you know, you certainly did
- 1:49:04what you did, but I think you took a lot
- 1:49:06of us to make it better today.
- 1:49:10>> Sorry I liked you last night. I'm sorry
- 1:49:12I lied to you today.
- 1:49:17>> Not okay.
- 1:49:18>> You were here for a reason.
- 1:49:20>> Well, there's a reason why I didn't
- 1:49:23that I came in because
- 1:49:27there's a reason why I didn't come in
- 1:49:28with a lawyer either. So, it's like it's
- 1:49:31going to happen. as well.
- 1:49:34I appreciate that.
- 1:49:50You know, eventually they were going to
- 1:49:51find them out there.
- 1:49:55So, I mean, it was kind of inevitable
- 1:49:57and you would have just been sitting at
- 1:49:59home waiting for that moment to happen.
- 1:50:04And then what? Ben, what does it look
- 1:50:06like? It looks
- 1:50:17probably,
- 1:50:23>> but there's many people that say that
- 1:50:25you're an amazing guy and you would
- 1:50:27never do anything bad and has never lost
- 1:50:29your temper. And you know, all those
- 1:50:31people that say that about you, there's
- 1:50:35just as many that would say that about
- 1:50:36Shenan.
- 1:50:38>> So,
- 1:50:40we're going to struggle with that.
- 1:50:41>> I know
- 1:50:42>> for a while.
- 1:50:43>> I'm struggling with it right now. I'll
- 1:50:45be honest.
- 1:50:45>> I know you are.
- 1:50:46>> I'm a mom.
- 1:50:49>> Anybody would
- 1:50:54best that she ended it.
- 1:51:00Examine.
- 1:51:02Oh, yeah. That's the only thing we're
- 1:51:04we're going to see if her hands
- 1:51:08are not there. Okay.
- 1:51:11>> Are there going to be handmarks? Like
- 1:51:13they weren't smothered, you think?
- 1:51:15>> I don't shouldn't have been smothered.
- 1:51:17No.
- 1:51:18>> And by the way, I don't know. But she
- 1:51:21she was on top of her in her head inside
- 1:51:23>> and there was no pillow on top of her.
- 1:51:25>> I didn't see a camera.
- 1:51:29I didn't see one on top of her.
- 1:51:34>> Why were there sheets in the trash
- 1:51:37in the kitchen?
- 1:51:39>> Cuz those are the same ones out there. I
- 1:51:43didn't know what else to do. I knew
- 1:51:44eventually this was the one you're going
- 1:51:46to find Janette. I mean, you guys.
- 1:51:48>> So, she's still wrapped in the sheet in
- 1:51:51down in here.
- 1:51:53>> Mhm. It was just laying off to the side.
- 1:51:56Or maybe the wind took it.
- 1:51:58>> So, it's right here now. It was just
- 1:52:00smashed to the side.
- 1:52:01>> Like, you didn't even try and hide that.
- 1:52:04>> I I was so scared. I didn't know what to
- 1:52:06do.
- 1:52:07>> Did I Did someone come up on you or
- 1:52:09something?
- 1:52:10>> No. Oh, yeah.
- 1:52:11>> Were you afraid they were going to start
- 1:52:13showing up? I knew that they were on
- 1:52:15their way out there, but I mean it's
- 1:52:17just a long way out there.
- 1:52:19>> So, I know um before I forgot, I know
- 1:52:22that they collected a lot of electronics
- 1:52:24out of your house, like routers and that
- 1:52:26kind of stuff. Um like that's not going
- 1:52:30to show that she was using her phone
- 1:52:31like at a time that you said
- 1:52:34>> she was strangling the kids or
- 1:52:36something, right? Okay. Do you What is
- 1:52:39the password to like all the electronics
- 1:52:41in your house? I know there was an iPad.
- 1:52:43>> iPad should be 2385.
- 1:52:47>> 2385.
- 1:52:49Um,
- 1:52:50is there a There's not one for the Apple
- 1:52:52watches, is there?
- 1:52:54>> Should be 2385.
- 1:52:57>> Is that for yours, too?
- 1:52:59>> Uh, 3387.
- 1:53:05>> I'm sorry. What was yours?
- 1:53:06>> 3387.
- 1:53:07>> 2387.
- 1:53:09Um,
- 1:53:11and what other stuff do you have to do?
- 1:53:13Is there a router? Like is there a
- 1:53:14password for that stuff?
- 1:53:15>> Shiny chair six
- 1:53:18came with a router.
- 1:53:19>> It spells for me.
- 1:53:20>> Uh, s h i n y c h a i r six. Number six
- 1:53:27>> like that. So I mean chair six.
- 1:53:30>> Yes. Okay. And then what else is was in
- 1:53:32there? Is there a desktop computer?
- 1:53:34Yeah, that one. If if it has a password,
- 1:53:37it' be um 428
- 1:53:404915
- 1:53:43capital S lowercase W.
- 1:53:48>> Okay. And what about
- 1:53:51is there anything else in the house as
- 1:53:53far as electronics go? Cablets.
- 1:53:55>> Well, the iPad's the only real the other
- 1:53:57ones are kids stuff, but there's like
- 1:53:59are just like Amazon Fires or whatnot.
- 1:54:02>> Okay. And you you have an iPhone. What?
- 1:54:05Which one is that? Your personality?
- 1:54:07>> Yes. iPhone like
- 1:54:097 Plus or something.
- 1:54:12>> What's the password to that one?
- 1:54:14>> H7.
- 1:54:16>> And what about your work phone?
- 1:54:18>> Same.
- 1:54:21>> Is that on here?
- 1:54:23>> Then obviously Shen had a iPhone, right?
- 1:54:27>> Mhm.
- 1:54:28>> And what was her password?
- 1:54:30So change to 01 3119.
- 1:54:35>> What was that password?
- 1:54:37>> The uh due date the next day.
- 1:54:40>> Okay.
- 1:54:42>> Nikki told me that one. Nicole told me
- 1:54:44that one.
- 1:54:45>> Okay.
- 1:54:46>> Try this to me. Nikki Nicole.

- 1:54:57>> Okay.
- 1:54:59You just say Alexa and it starts
- 1:55:00listening.
- 1:55:01>> Oh, it's an Alexa. Is it that Echo show?
- 1:55:05>> Yeah. Yeah. The product called an Echo.
- 1:55:08>> Okay.
- 1:55:10Any other ones that you can think of?
- 1:55:17>> Okay.
- 1:55:18>> Where do you guys think?

- 1:55:27>> was Chase.
- 1:55:29And USAA is that mortgage? Is that bank?
- 1:55:31Is that
- 1:55:33Chase is our mortgage lender? Okay.
- 1:55:37Do
- 1:55:37>> you have checking through them too,
- 1:55:39right?
- 1:55:40>> Yes.
- 1:55:44>> What do you guys use USA?
- 1:55:46>> Uh we use that to pay mortgage too, but
- 1:55:49it's just another She had that for me.
- 1:55:52>> Okay.
- 1:55:53any accounts that you had personally
- 1:55:57beyond all of this. Okay.
- 1:56:20Oh, the um security system
- 1:56:28>> there's private, right?
- 1:56:29>> Vivant. Yeah,
- 1:56:30>> vivid.
- 1:56:31>> It's either going to be 3387 or 2385.
- 1:56:37And the passcode like like is Mustang
- 1:56:40for days if you ever have to talk to
- 1:56:42them. verbal passcode
- 1:56:51>> and then what email is associated with
- 1:56:53that?
- 1:56:54>> Shannan wattgmail.com.
- 1:57:03>> Do you know her Gmail password? Could be
- 1:57:06that 42815.
- 1:57:09Uh, it's just any of her if most of her
- 1:57:12passwords are that.
- 1:57:13>> Okay.
- 1:57:14>> Amazon and everything.
- 1:57:17>> What is that? Is that phone number you
- 1:57:19sign?

- 1:57:20>> What phone number is that?
- 1:57:22>> Her ex-husband's mom.
- 1:57:25>> Okay. That's weird.
- 1:57:26>> You stick with the password.
- 1:57:28>> She just remembered it. She said it that

- 1:57:31>> Okay.
- 1:57:32She's kept it.
- 1:57:38Do you have any other questions for us?
- 1:57:41>> Here's the bathroom.
- 1:57:42>> Yes, of course.
- 1:57:43>> Um, we do need to do one quick thing now
- 1:57:46that we know what we know. Um, we're
- 1:57:49going to um I need to check that you
- 1:57:51don't have any weapons on you or
- 1:57:52anything like that. Do you have any
- 1:57:53weapons on you?
- 1:57:54>> No.
- 1:57:55>> Okay. Um, we'll do that. We'll go to the
- 1:57:58bathroom. I'm not going to go in the
- 1:57:59stall with you, but I'm going to go with
- 1:58:01you. Um, and then we'll come right back
- 1:58:02here and we'll make a decision about how
- 1:58:03the rest of the night goes. All right.
- 1:58:05So, you might stand up so I can check.
- 1:58:11All right.
- 1:58:25All right. Let's go back. Okay. Yes,
- 1:58:27please.
- 1:58:34Yeah, that way. There you go. and take a
- 1:58:36rest.
- 1:58:58Chris Watts tells investigators where
- 1:59:00the bodies are. His pregnant wife and
- 1:59:02two daughters were found at an oil field
- 1:59:04where he worked. protection.
- 1:59:05>> The same location he drove to that
- 1:59:07morning. He was arrested on scene.
- 1:59:09>> Chris, come stand up for me. I'm going
- 1:59:13to have you face that wall over there.
- 1:59:16Just face it.
- 1:59:20Lift up your hands.
- 1:59:37Okay, come this way.
- 1:59:52Okay, you want to face me?
- 2:00:07Okay. You don't have anything on you,
- 2:00:09right?
- 2:00:10>> Okay. Nothing in your pockets. Mhm.
- 2:00:12>> Okay. Go ahead and face that other wall
- 2:00:13behind you. I'm just going to search you
- 2:00:14real quick. Search your legs
- 2:00:17further.
- 2:00:25Okay. Turn around. Face me. No earrings,
- 2:00:28necklaces, anything like that. Okay.
- 2:00:32Let's walk out this way.
- 2:00:40Go straight.
- 2:00:47That door to your left.
- 2:00:55Let's
- 2:01:00see.
- 2:01:16I just got to
- 2:01:17>> He later pleaded guilty to all charges
- 2:01:19and was sentenced to five consecutive
- 2:01:21life sentences with no possibility of
- 2:01:23parole. The court has considered the
- 2:01:27statements made by the victims in this
- 2:01:30case.
- 2:01:31Uh the court's going to find that the
- 2:01:33plea agreement is fair and reasonable
- 2:01:36under the circumstances.
- 2:01:39I want to
- 2:01:41acknowledge the Rousk family as well as
- 2:01:44the Watts family that um
- 2:01:48showing
- 2:01:49mercy on Mr. Watts is understood.
- 2:01:54Uh, and I respect that decision to
- 2:01:57request that the district attorney not
- 2:01:59seek the death penalty in this case. And
- 2:02:01so, the court is going to accept this
- 2:02:04plea bargain under the circumstances.
- 2:02:09Words that come to mind when I hear
- 2:02:12the evidence in this case are a
- 2:02:16senseless crime and the viciousness of
- 2:02:21the crime.
- 2:02:23And equally aggravating in this court's
- 2:02:26determination is the despicable
- 2:02:30act of disposing of the bodies in the
- 2:02:34manner in which they were done. In this
- 2:02:37case,
- 2:02:38I've been a judicial officer now for
- 2:02:41starting my 17th year, and I um could
- 2:02:47objectively say that this is
- 2:02:52perhaps the most uh inhumane and vicious
- 2:02:57crime that I have handled out of the
- 2:02:59thousands of cases that I have seen.
- 2:03:03and nothing less than a maximum sentence
- 2:03:09um would be appropriate and anything
- 2:03:12less than the maximum sentence would
- 2:03:15depreciate the seriousness of this
- 2:03:17offense.
- 2:03:20So the court is going to sentence Mr.
- 2:03:22Watts as follows.
- 2:03:24With regard to count number one, murder
- 2:03:28in the first degree as it relates to
- 2:03:30Shenan Watts, the court is going to
- 2:03:32sentence you, sir, to uh a life sentence
- 2:03:36in the Colorado Department of
- 2:03:38Corrections
- 2:03:39followed
- 2:03:41um excuse me, with no possibility of
- 2:03:44parole.
- 2:03:47And that is going to run consecutively
- 2:03:51to all but counts three and four.
- 2:03:54With regard to count two, as it relates
- 2:03:57to murder in the first degree with
- 2:04:00Bella, the court is going to sentence
- 2:04:03you to life in the Colorado Department
- 2:04:05of Corrections with no possibility of
- 2:04:09parole.
- 2:04:11With regard to count number three, the
- 2:04:14court is going to sentence you as it
- 2:04:16relates to Celeste to life in the
- 2:04:19Colorado Department of Corrections with
- 2:04:21no possibility of parole.
- 2:04:25With regard to counts four and five
- 2:04:29relating to Bella and Celeste as a
- 2:04:32different theory of firstdegree murder,
- 2:04:35the court is going to sentence you to
- 2:04:37life in the Colorado Department of
- 2:04:39Corrections. And legally, those
- 2:04:42sentences must run concurrently as a
- 2:04:44different theory of firstdegree murder.
- 2:04:48recognizing
- 2:04:50um the unlawful termination of pregnancy
- 2:04:55for the unborn child that has been named
- 2:04:58Nico. The court absolutely believes that
- 2:05:02the maximum sentence of 48 years would
- 2:05:05be appropriate to run consecutive to the
- 2:05:08other charges
- 2:05:11with an additional mandatory pearl
- 2:05:13period of 3 years as set forth by
- 2:05:16statute.
- 2:05:19With regard to count number seven, as it
- 2:05:21relates to tampering with a deceased
- 2:05:25body, as well as counts 8 and nine, each
- 2:05:29a class 3 felony, the court is going to
- 2:05:31impose a maximum sentence of 12 years
- 2:05:36each for those counts to run
- 2:05:38consecutively to the other counts.
- 2:05:42The court is going to order that the
- 2:05:45statutory fees be paid. the and court
- 2:05:48cost. The court's going to grant the
- 2:05:49prosecution 91 days
- 2:05:52to file a notice of restitution
- 2:05:58and that will be the sentence of the
- 2:06:00court.
- 2:06:01We will shortly be in recess. I would
- 2:06:06respectfully ask the parties that uh you
- 2:06:09remain in your seat. There is a plan by
- 2:06:12the deputies on allowing people to exit
- 2:06:16the courtroom. So, please remain seated
- 2:06:18until you are authorized to leave the
- 2:06:22courtroom based on the direction of the
- 2:06:25deputies. Deputies, I would respectfully
- 2:06:28ask that you take this defendant into
- 2:06:30custody and have him serve the rest of
- 2:06:32his life in the Department of
- 2:06:34Corrections.
- 2:06:35We are in recess.
- 2:06:45Please right.
