- 0:06fried steak. Today I'm at Birdie Lou's
- 0:09Cafe in Portland. The joint is super
- 0:12small, but with a big [music] reputation
- 0:14for amazing breakfast. They get their
- 0:16chicken fried steak from a third-party,
- 0:18but what makes [music] Birdie's unique
- 0:20is their gravy that they make in house.
- 0:22The dish comes with eggs, home fries,
- 0:24and toast. [music]
- 0:27So, how was it? Birdie Lou's steak has a
- 0:30great texture to it. It really feels
- 0:32like a piece of steak. The breading is
- 0:34very good. The seasoning on it is
- 0:37pretty, I would say, neutral.
- 0:40The gravy, though, is very unique. It
- 0:43has a different flavor. It doesn't taste
- 0:45quite like the classic white sausage
- 0:48gravy, and it's very enjoyable. Overall,
- 0:51this is one of the best chicken fried
