- 0:00A gang of robbers stormed into a bank,
- 0:01but they didn't want the money. They
- 0:03forced the hostages to strip naked. When
- 0:05police stormed in, they found no robbers
- 0:07at all. All hostages were unharmed and
- 0:09not a single dollar was missing. What
- 0:11they never expected was that the robbers
- 0:13had already made 1.2 billion. How did
- 0:15they do it? It all began when four
- 0:16robbers broke into a Wall Street bank.
- 0:18The leader, disguised as a bank
- 0:20employee, strode in and jammed the
- 0:22surveillance cameras with a high-power
- 0:24infrared device. Meanwhile, an
- 0:25accomplice disguised as a painter
- 0:27slipped in through the back door and
- 0:28locked it. When a security guard came to
- 0:30check,
- 0:30>> [music]
- 0:30>> a gun was pressed to his back. The
- 0:32robbers quickly seized control, hurling
- 0:34smoke grenades and brandishing weapons
- 0:36to subdue 50 hostages. A patrol officer
- 0:38saw smoke pouring from the bank and went
- 0:40to check, but the robbers showed no
- 0:41fear. They even flung open the door,
- 0:43announced the robbery, and told the
- 0:45officer to call the police. They then
- 0:46confiscated every hostage's phone and
- 0:48[music] keys and ordered them to strip
- 0:50and put on identical jumpsuits. They
- 0:51split the hostages into 10 groups and
- 0:53locked each in a different room. By
- 0:55then, a huge police force had surrounded
- 0:57the building, sealing every exit, even
- 0:59the sewers. Snipers in position, Jess
- 1:01commanded the operation and, with 50
- 1:03lives at stake, dared not act rashly. He
- 1:05tried to negotiate, but the robbers
- 1:07ignored [music] him. Unsure of their
- 1:08motives and the situation inside, Jess
- 1:10could only wait anxiously. Normally,
- 1:12robbers would head straight for the
- 1:14vault. They showed no interest in the
- 1:15vault stuffed with cash, nor were they
- 1:17moved [music] by the private safety
- 1:19deposit boxes full of valuables.
- 1:21Finally, they entered a seemingly empty
- 1:22warehouse and sprang [music] into
- 1:24action. Clearly, these were no ordinary
- 1:26robbers. They moved the shelves and
- 1:27shifted through the floor, quickly
- 1:29opening a huge hole. Was this an escape
- 1:31tunnel? Justice police [music] were
- 1:32baffled. The robbers released a hostage
- 1:34carrying a large box. Inside was a note
- 1:37from the robbers. "Have two cars and a
- 1:39fueled helicopter ready by 9:00 p.m. For
- 1:41every hour you're late, we'll execute
- 1:43one hostage." The robbers kept rotating
- 1:45the hostages, even disguising themselves
- 1:47as hostages to blend in. Eventually,
- 1:49they turned to the private [music]
- 1:50safety deposit boxes. Opening one, they
- 1:52found diamonds and a document. This was
- 1:54their their target. Outside, the bank
- 1:56owner panicked. Inside, the [music]
- 1:57document was a secret that could destroy
- 1:59him. He sent a sharp crisis negotiator
- 2:02to deal with the robbers. She made it
- 2:03clear she represented neither the police
- 2:05nor the bank. Once the leader confirmed
- 2:07her identity, he [music] agreed to meet.
- 2:09Jess gave her 10 minutes. She came out
- 2:11unharmed, but refused to reveal what was
- 2:13said. So, Jess contacted the robbers
- 2:14directly, claiming their demands were
- 2:16ready, but insisting on seeing the
- 2:18hostages himself. [music] The robbers
- 2:19saw through the lie, but let him in,
- 2:21warning him to come alone. After
- 2:22confirming the hostages were safe, Jess
- 2:24urged them to surrender for leniency,
- 2:26warning [music] that a SWAT raid would
- 2:28end in tragedy. The leader stayed calm,
- 2:30noting the odds of casualties were
- 2:31extremely low, while hostage deaths
- 2:33would trigger public outrage. Jess
- 2:35[music] retorted that they had no way
- 2:36out, but the leader brazenly declared
- 2:38they would walk out the front door.
- 2:39[music] Enraged, Jess tried to subdue
- 2:41him alone. As he nearly tore off the
- 2:43leader's mask, another robber [music]
- 2:44pressed a gun to his head. Jess braced
- 2:46for the worst, but was shoved out,
- 2:47unharmed, yet furious. Convinced the
- 2:49robbers were bluffing and wouldn't kill,
- 2:51he was about to order the raid. Just
- 2:53then, the robbers called, "Point the
- 2:55cameras at the second floor [music] of
- 2:56the bank."
