  1. 0:00The Apple Watch is a bit of a grey area
  2. 0:01device in Apple's product ecosystem,
  3. 0:04unlike the iPhone or the MacBook, for
  4. 0:05example. There's people who absolutely
  5. 0:07love it and others who think it's
  6. 0:09completely stupid and pointless. And I
  7. 0:11myself have an Apple Watch. So, as
  8. 0:13someone who's just an average Apple
  9. 0:14Watch user, here's what I think you
  10. 0:16should know before buying it yourself.
  11. 0:18Enjoy. Before anything, the model I have
  12. 0:20is the Apple Watch Ultra 3, which I've
  13. 0:22had now for about two or three months,
  14. 0:23but most things in this video will apply
  15. 0:25to the Apple Watch in general, not just
  16. 0:27the specific model. Let's start with the
  17. 0:29stuff I think is overrated. Most of the
  18. 0:31health tracking features, like the
  19. 0:32electrical heart sensor, blood oxygen
  20. 0:34tracking, hypertension tracking, and so
  21. 0:36on, sound cool when you're trying to
  22. 0:38justify spending a lot of money on this
  23. 0:39thing, but you don't actually end up
  24. 0:41using it that much after like the first
  25. 0:43week. Obviously, I don't think these
  26. 0:44features are bad. They're just not
  27. 0:45necessarily useful for someone like me
  28. 0:47who doesn't have any notable health
  29. 0:48issues. Good to have for an emergency,
  30. 0:50but I wouldn't buy the watch just for
  31. 0:52that. The next thing I find overrated is
  32. 0:54the messaging and calling features, with
  33. 0:56one asterisk that I'll get into later.
  34. 0:58While some may sound cool to be able to
  35. 0:59answer messages and make calls on your
  36. 1:01wrist, it's actually really not
  37. 1:02practical. It's calling with your wrist
  38. 1:04up just fatigues your arm after a while,
  39. 1:06not to mention it looks goofy and it is
  40. 1:08just less convenient than grabbing your
  41. 1:09phone. With messaging, the problem is
  42. 1:11not even the size of the keyboard, but
  43. 1:13more so the fact that you can't turn off
  44. 1:15auto-correction for whatever reason.
  45. 1:17Please, Apple, I'm not 8 years old. No
  46. 1:19hate to all the 80-year-olds out there
  47. 1:21using Apple Watch auto-correction, of
  48. 1:23course. It's especially annoying when
  49. 1:24you communicate in different languages
  50. 1:26with different people, because the
  51. 1:27auto-correction will think you're trying
  52. 1:28to say a word in a different language,
  53. 1:30so it will never get it right. And half
  54. 1:32the time when I try to change the
  55. 1:33keyboard language by swiping up from the
  56. 1:35bottom here, it just doesn't apply.
  57. 1:37Also, why can I write a note in the
  58. 1:39notes app, but once I hit done, I can't
  59. 1:41edit it anymore? It's just such a dumb
  60. 1:43limitation. I genuinely don't get it.
  61. 1:45Anyway, the main theme here is that the
  62. 1:47big headline features of the Apple Watch
  63. 1:49are most of the time either badly made
  64. 1:51to the point where it's just faster to
  65. 1:53grab your phone, or they are something
  66. 1:54you'll probably use once and never touch
  67. 1:56it again. That being said, there are
  68. 1:58things that I really like about the
  69. 1:59watch that make the purchase worth it in
  70. 2:01my opinion. And it's maybe not what you
  71. 2:02think. First, probably my favorite
  72. 2:04underrated feature of the Apple Watch is
  73. 2:06setting timers on it. It's something
  74. 2:08that I do every day when cooking pasta,
  75. 2:10washing clothes, or whatever else. It
  76. 2:12sounds stupid, but it's the convenience
  77. 2:13of having directly accessible timer
  78. 2:15presets with one tap that don't make any
  79. 2:18sound when set off, as you can make it
  80. 2:19so that the watch simply vibrates and is
  81. 2:21the premium Apple vibration motor, not
  82. 2:23some cheap feeling one. And the fact
  83. 2:25that you don't have to think about
  84. 2:27having your phone around when the timer
  85. 2:28goes off, as the watch always sits on
  86. 2:30your wrist. This combination makes
  87. 2:31timers incredibly convenient on the
  88. 2:33watch. And add to that the fact that you
  89. 2:35can double tap your fingers to turn the
  90. 2:37timer off. So, no need to interact with
  91. 2:39the screen at all. The next thing that
  92. 2:40goes into the same direction is setting
  93. 2:42alarms. Waking up to this just makes
  94. 2:44your morning worse. There's a good
  95. 2:46chance you just felt the sound in your
  96. 2:47bones. Well, the Apple Watch lets you
  97. 2:49set alarms that only use haptic
  98. 2:51vibrations, which I can say from
  99. 2:53experience still wakes you up, but in a
  100. 2:54much gentler way. And if you sleep with
  101. 2:57a partner or just someone in the same
  102. 2:58room, you won't wake them up with your
  103. 3:00alarm. Tying into this, the one health
  104. 3:02tracking feature I actually use is sleep
  105. 3:04tracking. Not that it changes your life
  106. 3:06or anything, but it's cool to see how
  107. 3:07you sleep day to day and over time. I
  108. 3:09can, for example, see that my cat did in
  109. 3:11fact wake me up a bunch of times at 5:00
  110. 3:13a.m. begging for food. And lastly, the
  111. 3:16one thing I do like about the messaging
  112. 3:17stuff is just being able to see your
  113. 3:19notifications, even when you're not
  114. 3:21around your phone. Even when you can't
  115. 3:22always respond that easily, it's cool to
  116. 3:24be able to put my phone down and leave
  117. 3:26it in my room when I go do something,
  118. 3:28knowing I won't miss any messages I
  119. 3:30don't want to miss. It eliminates the
  120. 3:31fear of missing out, all whilst keeping
  121. 3:33you away from your phone more often.
  122. 3:35There's one thing I haven't touched
  123. 3:36upon, which is fitness tracking, one of
  124. 3:38the main Apple Watch features. I think
  125. 3:40it's solid. I use it when I go to the
  126. 3:41gym or on a walk or something. But
  127. 3:43again, for me personally, it's nothing
  128. 3:45life-changing, but to each their own, of
  129. 3:46course. So, if you're thinking about
  130. 3:48getting an Apple Watch, maybe now you
  131. 3:49know a bit more about it. I tried to
  132. 3:51keep this video as honest and glaze-free
  133. 3:53as possible. I'd recommend getting a
  134. 3:54recent model, but maybe looking for
  135. 3:56second-hand offers so you don't get a
  136. 3:58degraded battery. That's what I did. I
  137. 3:59actually got this Ultra free for 450
  138. 4:02euros instead of 750. So, a pretty good
  139. 4:04deal if I may say so myself. Anyways,
  140. 4:06that's about it. Bye.
