- 0:00Your little slingshot game ends here.
- 0:02Everyone we know is in danger.
- 0:04>> The pigs ARE STEALING OUR EGGS.
- 0:05>> You have annoyed me for the last time.
- 0:08We will eat the eggs.
- 0:11>> Angry Birds is a game about a flock of
- 0:13birds attempting to rescue their eggs
- 0:15from the bad piggies.
- 0:17Yes, that is their real name. And I'm
- 0:19sure at some point in your life you may
- 0:21have played this game for yourself.
- 0:22Maybe you've even seen the movie or the
- 0:25cartoon shorts or the spin-off games or
- 0:28the merchandise. The point is this
- 0:31franchise is insanely successful.
- 0:32However, something about the story of
- 0:35this game [music] isn't quite adding up
- 0:36to me.
- 0:37Recently, I decided to buy The World of
- 0:40Angry Birds official guide. I will
- 0:42admit, level 3-1 was kicking my ass.
- 0:45What in the Whoopi Goldberg machine is
- 0:46going on here? But in all seriousness,
- 0:49what could you possibly need guidance
- 0:51for in Angry Birds? It seems pretty
- 0:53self-explanatory. You pull back the bird
- 0:57and let it go.
- 0:59The end. But to my surprise, this book
- 1:01doesn't actually teach you how to play
- 1:03Angry Birds. It doesn't really talk
- 1:06about the game at all. The World of
- 1:07Angry Birds quite literally explains the
- 1:10lore of the Angry Birds world. Fun fact,
- 1:13did you know that the bad piggies live
- 1:14on Piggy Island? Yeah, I could have
- 1:17guessed that too. But I bet you didn't
- 1:20know the Angry Birds live on Piggy
- 1:22Island too.
- 1:23>> [music]
- 1:24>> This shouldn't make any sense. Why would
- 1:27the Angry Birds live on an island named
- 1:29after the pigs who repeatedly steal
- 1:31their eggs? Is there not a bird island
- 1:34they can go to? Unless this bird island
- 1:37they reside from doesn't exist or maybe
- 1:42something happened to it. What if I told
- 1:44you that beneath this charming kids game
- 1:46full of colorful birds and bad piggies
- 1:48is a tale of greed, golden eggs, and
- 1:51extinction. The World of Angry Birds
- 1:53hides a story of mass genocide within
- 1:55the bird population with it all tracing
- 1:58back to the mighty eagle. It may not
- 2:01seem like it now, but after I show you
- 2:03the evidence I found, I promise you you
- 2:05will never see Angry Birds the same way
- 2:08again.
- 2:11>> [music]
- 2:17>> So, the world of Angry Birds is already
- 2:19pretty confusing. Back in 2022, there
- 2:22was this whole Angry Birds multiverse
- 2:25concept made by a Rovio employee
- 2:26claiming that the film dimension and the
- 2:28classic dimension was set in two
- 2:30different realms. And also, Angry Birds
- 2:33Space is in its own dimension
- 2:36for some reason. Was space too different
- 2:40to include in the classic series? They
- 2:42went through a random portal and then
- 2:44came straight back home when they were
- 2:45done. The guidebook literally proves
- 2:47this. Angry Birds go to McDonald's and
- 2:50eat Cheetos and drink Coca-Cola.
- 2:53Oh, Cannon. Green Terence.
- 2:57Who the hell is this? But the creator of
- 2:59this Angry Birds, yes, I am not kidding.
- 3:02That is its real name. Also answered
- 3:04further questions on Twitter about its
- 3:06plot holes and other contradictions
- 3:08using phrases like in my opinion, which
- 3:10kind of made it sound like he's making a
- 3:12theory of his own. And saying all of
- 3:14this in 2022 doesn't really mean much to
- 3:16my theory since this was thought up six
- 3:18years after the Angry Birds movie came
- 3:20out. Am I seriously supposed to believe
- 3:22that the makers of this movie had no
- 3:24intentions whatsoever of connecting this
- 3:26to the [music] games? There's also this
- 3:27contradiction with the villain in the
- 3:29movie being a playable character in the
- 3:31game Angry Birds 2. None of this Angry
- 3:34Birds stuff really makes sense to me and
- 3:36seems like more of a fun way to
- 3:38categorize everything on a bookshelf
- 3:40rather than help you understand the
- 3:41lore. Find the Easter eggs that bind
- 3:44this all together cuz there are
- 3:45connections there that frankly, even
- 3:48after all my time here at at Rovio and
- 3:50all the time I spent digging into this
- 3:52brand, I'm still discovering.
- 3:55Anyway,
- 3:57Piggy Island, am I right?
- 4:02>> [music]
- 4:06>> According to the World of Angry Birds
- 4:08Official Guidebook, Piggy Island is a
- 4:10region apparently untraceable on any map
- 4:12of the world, making this dot in the
- 4:14ocean invisible to anyone other than its
- 4:17residents. This to me is peculiar. As on
- 4:20the very same page showcasing the
- 4:22island, you can spot a note left by the
- 4:24Mighty Eagle. I'm guessing he serves as
- 4:26some kind of narrator for this book,
- 4:28suggested by both his introduction and
- 4:31the narrator's unusual fixation with
- 4:32sardines. The note lets us know that the
- 4:35island is inhabited by specifically a
- 4:37flock of Angry Birds and a kingdom of
- 4:40Bad Piggies. I don't think the Mighty
- 4:42Eagle could have made it any more
- 4:43obvious that something bad happened to
- 4:45the Angry Birds. He even labels Piggy
- 4:47Island as the Angry Birds home while
- 4:49showing regions we actually encounter
- 4:51throughout the original game, meaning
- 4:53the Angry Birds have been living on this
- 4:55island for quite some time now. This
- 4:57obviously begs the question, what
- 4:59brought them here? The Angry Birds
- 5:01obviously weren't born on Piggy Island.
- 5:04That that wouldn't make any sense,
- 5:05especially with how desperate the pigs
- 5:07are to steal their eggs. Thankfully, we
- 5:09can try to piece together what happened
- 5:11in the past by asking the Angry Birds
- 5:13ourselves. There's a segment in the book
- 5:15where we, for some reason, get the
- 5:17chance to interview each bird about life
- 5:19on Piggy Island. Most of these questions
- 5:21ask fairly general things like, "What do
- 5:23you do for fun?" or "What is something
- 5:25you can improve about yourself?" But
- 5:27after skimming through these interviews,
- 5:29I found Mr. Angry Bird himself, and what
- 5:32he had to say led to the reason why
- 5:34you're watching this video.
- 5:36What's the worst thing about living on
- 5:38Piggy Island?
- 5:40>> The pigs. They're always trying to get
- 5:42their dirty little trotters on our eggs.
- 5:45It makes me mad.
- 5:46>> What makes you angry?
- 5:48>> Didn't you hear me? Why can't those
- 5:50swine just leave us alone?
- 5:53>> What is the best thing about living on
- 5:54Piggy Island?
- 5:56>> The eggs. They are the future of the
- 5:58flock and all that matters.
- 6:02>> Wait. These eggs in the intro to the
- 6:04game supposedly make up the entire
- 6:07future generation of their kind?
- 6:09That that can't be right. But, that's
- 6:12when I noticed a strange pattern. In
- 6:14every episode of Angry Birds, the pigs
- 6:16always manage to capture the same three
- 6:19eggs. This isn't just some coincidence.
- 6:22In Angry Birds 2, we see the same three
- 6:23eggs yet again being taken away. In the
- 6:25Angry Birds Toons series, again the same
- 6:27three eggs throughout each episode.
- 6:29Angry Birds Space, Angry Birds Rio, even
- 6:32in the Angry Birds Read It Yourself
- 6:34books, the same three eggs can be
- 6:36spotted, seemingly waiting for the next
- 6:38time they'll be taken. This happens
- 6:41every time, always taking place on Piggy
- 6:44Island. I was even able to find a now
- 6:46deleted article about the Angry Birds
- 6:48cinematic trailer, which asked the
- 6:49creators of the game if there was any
- 6:51real lore to the franchise. They
- 6:53responded,
- 6:55"It didn't exist. There weren't these
- 6:58rules yet. One of the other big things
- 7:00we decided was that even though there
- 7:02are lots of eggs in the game in
- 7:03different places, there are really only
- 7:06three eggs."
- 7:08So, if Red is telling the truth about
- 7:10these being the last three eggs in their
- 7:12existence, what the hell happened to the
- 7:14Angry Birds? It seems like in this
- 7:16universe, despite the Angry Birds being
- 7:18the good guys, they are clearly not
- 7:20winning the war against the pigs. This
- 7:22completely goes against every other
- 7:24popular game story from this era. So,
- 7:26why did Rovio decide to give Angry Birds
- 7:29such a depressing and dark story?
- 7:32I also just can't seem to get over the
- 7:34birds calling Piggy Island home. It
- 7:37feels like we've somehow skipped over an
- 7:38entire chapter proving how the Angry
- 7:40Birds got here. And whilst it does feel
- 7:42like we're onto something big, the book
- 7:44doesn't really mention too much more
- 7:46about how the birds got here in the
- 7:47first place. Plus, the developers have
- 7:49been pretty quiet about this whole
- 7:50secret backstory anyway, ever since they
- 7:53went on and did bigger projects like the
- 7:54movie and merchandise and
- 7:56collaborations. Wait. The Angry Birds
- 8:00Movie.
- 8:02If you weren't familiar with the Angry
- 8:03Birds Movie, the story follows Red
- 8:05learning to deal with his anger despite
- 8:07being an Angry Bird at heart. We get a
- 8:08quick backstory showing Red being picked
- 8:10on as a kid and mocked for believing in
- 8:12the Mighty Eagle.
- 8:12>> Eyebrows, didn't your parents ever tell
- 8:14you Mighty Eagle isn't real?
- 8:16>> And soon after he meets the rest of the
- 8:18Angry Bird gang like Chuck, Bomb,
- 8:20Terrence.
- 8:22What did you do, Terrence? To summarize,
- 8:24the bad piggies featuring their
- 8:25spokesman Leonard introduced themselves
- 8:27to the birds.
- 8:28>> Hi.
- 8:29>> Hey.
- 8:29>> I'm a pig.
- 8:30>> But shortly after, steal all of their
- 8:32eggs with their homes left in ruin
- 8:34thanks to the pigs' TNT. This encourages
- 8:36Red to teach the birds how to be angry
- 8:38whilst it's revealed that Leonard
- 8:39happens to be the king of Pig City,
- 8:41cited as King Mudbeard. The Angry Birds
- 8:44seek revenge on the bad piggies giving
- 8:46us the money shot of the movie and the
- 8:47birds get to celebrate rescuing their
- 8:49unborn hatchlings giving Red the happy
- 8:51ending he deserves.
- 8:54Obviously, this whole movie seems to be
- 8:56a big contradiction to the Angry Birds
- 8:58game and I know some of you might be
- 9:00saying, "Well, duh. We know they're not
- 9:03the same. They are literally from
- 9:04different dimensions." Okay, just hear
- 9:07me out. What if instead of these worlds
- 9:10taking place in two different universes,
- 9:12they actually were meant to be part of
- 9:14the same one? Take a look at the
- 9:16exchange that Leonard has with the
- 9:18mayor.
- 9:19>> We saw your island across the sea and we
- 9:21thought, "Wonder what they're up to?"
- 9:23>> Welcome to Bird Island.
- 9:26>> Welcome to Bird Island. The Angry Birds
- 9:29over the events of this movie do not
- 9:31live on Piggy Island like the guidebooks
- 9:33told us. But, what's more interesting
- 9:35here, the birds had no idea pigs even
- 9:37exist.
- 9:38>> Uh, hey, I'm a pig.
- 9:41>> What's a pig?
- 9:42>> You would think that the birds should
- 9:44know about the pigs considering what
- 9:45they can do to their eggs. It's basic
- 9:48predator and prey survival, but they are
- 9:50just completely oblivious to the fact
- 9:51these pigs even existed.
- 9:53>> But there's no other place besides here.
- 9:56>> Yes, there is.
- 9:57>> So, how does this make any sense? The
- 9:58birds in the movie live on Bird Island
- 10:01and seem to not know who the pigs are.
- 10:03But the game shows them trapped on Piggy
- 10:04Island and constantly on the run to keep
- 10:07their eggs safe. Well,
- 10:09what if this movie is supposed to be the
- 10:12beginning of the Angry Birds timeline
- 10:14before anything we know goes wrong in
- 10:16the future? The reason why these two
- 10:18universes feel so disconnected is
- 10:20because the game takes place long after
- 10:22the events of the movie. This would
- 10:24explain why at the start of the movie
- 10:25Red is only carrying one egg instead of
- 10:27the three we see in the games, because
- 10:29this is not an egg at all.
- 10:31Let me explain. Red doesn't have to
- 10:33worry about protecting anything other
- 10:35than his job, since this was just a cake
- 10:38he was attempting to deliver on time.
- 10:40Red is not the leader of the flock like
- 10:42the book describes him here. If
- 10:44anything, Red is only looked down on by
- 10:46the other birds for being an outcast.
- 10:48The Angry Birds aren't even angry yet.
- 10:51They're just birds.
- 10:52>> ANGER IS NOT ALWAYS THE ANSWER.
- 10:55>> ALTHOUGH, there is one other bird living
- 10:57on this island that I would consider
- 10:59more of an outcast than Red. Someone who
- 11:02doesn't even look the part amongst his
- 11:04fellow birds, but we'll get back to him
- 11:06later.
- 11:08There's also this scene at the end of
- 11:09the movie where the blues are born
- 11:11directly after taking down the pigs. We
- 11:13even see them sneak off to climb into
- 11:15the slingshot and launch themselves
- 11:17before splitting midair into three
- 11:18directions, just like in the game. But
- 11:21on top of all of this evidence, the dead
- 11:23giveaway that the movie takes place
- 11:24before the events of the game is the
- 11:26fact that Leonard exists whatsoever.
- 11:28Leonard in the movie is clearly not the
- 11:30same ruler we see in the game named King
- 11:33Pig Smooth Cheeks. Now, who came up with
- 11:35that name?
- 11:36If this movie is seriously supposed to
- 11:38be a prequel to the game, then that
- 11:41would imply Leonard must be some form of
- 11:42relative to the future King Smooth
- 11:44Cheeks. And what do you know, on page 13
- 11:47of the official guidebook, we are told
- 11:49Smooth Cheeks inherited the throne from
- 11:50his father King Mudbeard. These two
- 11:53kings aren't rulers of separate piggy
- 11:55kingdoms. They are literally the before
- 11:57and after in this convoluted Angry Birds
- 12:00timeline. So, if that's the case, what
- 12:03happened to Mudbeard? There can't
- 12:05possibly be a big gap in time between
- 12:07the movie and the game as the Foreman
- 12:09Pig who was working for Mudbeard
- 12:11continued to construct forts for Smooth
- 12:13Cheeks, even stating in his interview
- 12:16that things were better when Mudbeard
- 12:17was in power since he was a real king,
- 12:20meaning Smooth Cheeks must have taken
- 12:22his father's place right after the end
- 12:23of the movie where Red blew up Mudbeard
- 12:26with the pigs' TNT. Well,
- 12:29that was easy enough. Seems like an open
- 12:31and shut case to me. I guess Leonard
- 12:33really wasn't that strong of a king.
- 12:35>> [music]
- 12:37>> The pigs didn't die. Leonard isn't dead.
- 12:41If Leonard is still alive, then how did
- 12:43Smooth Cheeks take control of Pig City
- 12:45so soon after? This doesn't add up. I
- 12:48have to be missing something. And that's
- 12:50when it hit me. The Angry Birds Movie
- 12:53somehow got a sequel.
- 13:00The Angry Birds Movie 2 picks up where
- 13:01the battle left off between the birds
- 13:03and the pigs, but for some reason in a
- 13:05more playful way. Both of these guys
- 13:08attempted to blow each other up using
- 13:10TNT. Like, the pigs stole the birds'
- 13:12eggs in hopes of eating them, which Red
- 13:14literally acknowledges.
- 13:16>> I know we've had our differences when
- 13:18you tried to eat our young.
- 13:19>> But now we've somehow downgraded to
- 13:21whipped cream pies and cannonball. I I
- 13:25this is around the time that Rovio
- 13:26started to appeal to more kids rather
- 13:29than focus on the original story they
- 13:30was going for. I can't imagine that baby
- 13:33shark has any deeper meaning I'm
- 13:34supposed to look into nor would the
- 13:36threequel movie that's set to release in
- 13:37the future that shows Red being a
- 13:41a
- 13:42uh
- 13:43a struggling father with
- 13:46three children.
- 13:48What is this Shrek the Third? What are
- 13:50we doing Rovio? But regardless, this
- 13:52movie makes it seem like the story is
- 13:54about good old-fashioned Angry Bird and
- 13:55Bad Piggies rivalry. All until we turn
- 13:58our direction to something beyond the
- 14:00birds and pigs. A place ruled by a
- 14:02somewhat familiar kind of bird.
- 14:05>> To a place CALLED EAGLE
- 14:06>> EAGLE ISLAND.
- 14:07>> THIS WOULD explain why the Mighty Eagle
- 14:09feels so out of place amongst the birds.
- 14:11Since there's a whole 'nother island
- 14:12dedicated to only his kind. And yes, I
- 14:15know that eagles are a kind of bird. But
- 14:18comparing the Mighty Eagle to the rest
- 14:19of the birds, he looks nothing like
- 14:21them. As well as being three times their
- 14:23size and also being the only bird on
- 14:26Bird Island who can actually fly. Eagle
- 14:28Island introduces us to the big bad of
- 14:30the second movie called Zeta. The plot
- 14:33writes her off as an eagle who's just
- 14:34tired of living on a cold island and
- 14:36finally wants to go out and enjoy the
- 14:37sun. It's a very inoffensive story
- 14:40having Red and the crew try to stop Zeta
- 14:42from taking over their islands. And by
- 14:43the end of the film, the day is saved by
- 14:45the Mighty Eagle as he confesses he
- 14:46abandoned his wife and child for
- 14:49multiple years.
- 14:50>> That's my dad.
- 14:52>> I have a daughter?
- 14:53>> Am I sure this was made for kids?
- 14:56Mighty Eagle, you're kind of an
- 14:58man.
- 14:59>> Regardless of how bad of a dad the
- 15:00Mighty Eagle is,
- 15:02I have a big issue with this movie. Zeta
- 15:05being tired of her frozen over island
- 15:07and looking for a tropical paradise that
- 15:09the birds and pigs seem to share feels
- 15:12like such a random storyline to help
- 15:14keep this movie safe for a younger
- 15:16rating. And it's not just because the
- 15:18plot doesn't fit into my theory. I
- 15:19promise. Being cold isn't something I
- 15:22would typically associate with the Angry
- 15:24Birds.
- 15:26Unless you are Ice Bird. I mean, hell,
- 15:28if you picture the game Angry Birds and
- 15:30put it on the big screen, you'd expect
- 15:31to see birds getting injured and pigs
- 15:33being popped, which may not go well with
- 15:36certain advertisers. But, it's almost as
- 15:37if something was changed during the
- 15:39production phase of this movie, which
- 15:41might have told a much darker story
- 15:43unsuitable for children and followed the
- 15:45intended story from the beginning.
- 15:50Guess what I found. As if pulled from
- 15:53thin air, a bunch of the storyboard
- 15:54artists from the movies published their
- 15:56work online, giving us a lot more
- 15:58content to work with. And deep within
- 16:00the Angry Birds Movie 2 storyboards lie
- 16:02a couple scrapped scenes that hint at
- 16:03what was supposed to happen in this now
- 16:05deleted movie. At the start of the film,
- 16:07Zeta was actually meant to show up at
- 16:09Piggy Island unannounced, calling in her
- 16:11army of eagles to destroy Pig City as a
- 16:14message to Leonard. This led to Zeta
- 16:16demanding him to tell her where the
- 16:17owner of this feather happens to be, or
- 16:20else. Following the story from the
- 16:22original movie, I think it's quite clear
- 16:24that this feather belongs to the Mighty
- 16:26Eagle. And Zeta clinging onto Mighty
- 16:27Eagle's feather here is kind of weird.
- 16:30It's like how those police dogs use a
- 16:32criminal scent to track them down and
- 16:34locate where they escaped to. But, the
- 16:35Mighty Eagle isn't a criminal. He
- 16:37wouldn't have a reason to escape from
- 16:40anything. Well, it's funny because his
- 16:43guidebook interview, which took place in
- 16:45the present, seems to coincidentally
- 16:47line up with what's happening in this
- 16:49canceled script.
- 16:51What is your biggest secret?
- 16:53>> Why? Did you hear something about me?
- 16:56No.
- 16:57Well, don't ask me or anyone else. Okay?
- 17:01>> Yeah, that's a completely normal
- 17:02response from someone who's not hiding
- 17:04something. What would you improve about
- 17:06yourself if you could?
- 17:08>> Matilda is always telling me to let go
- 17:10of the past, to forgive myself for my
- 17:14mistakes.
- 17:16Uh, sorry. I just don't want to talk
- 17:18about them.
- 17:19>> Mistakes is an interesting word to use
- 17:21here. If you ever played Angry Birds as
- 17:23a kid, you may have seen the Mighty
- 17:25Eagle as some mystical figure who could
- 17:27save the day at touch of a button. He
- 17:29was powerful. Some would even consider
- 17:31him a hero. So, as a veteran who fought
- 17:35in a war, why would the Mighty Eagle
- 17:37recall his past as a mistake? It's
- 17:39almost insulting to actual soldiers who
- 17:41fight in wars. We see them as noble,
- 17:44brave, maybe even patriotic. So, why is
- 17:49the Mighty Eagle acting strangely
- 17:51regretful towards his past? And why does
- 17:54he seem to not have an issue with
- 17:55teaching the Blues about his old war
- 17:57stories despite not wanting to talk
- 17:59about it anyone else? Well, what if it's
- 18:02not regret he's feeling? Maybe it's
- 18:05guilt. In one of the very first pages of
- 18:08the guide, we briefly learn about each
- 18:09core part that is Angry Birds, like the
- 18:12slingshot and a summary of the pigs and
- 18:14birds. But, at the bottom right of the
- 18:15page, the Mighty Eagle can be seen
- 18:18cropped out of frame commenting on his
- 18:20isolation along with the label Mighty
- 18:23Eagle's disgrace. To clarify, the
- 18:25literal definition for disgrace is the
- 18:28loss of respect, shame, or dishonor
- 18:30brought upon someone. And the leading
- 18:33example of disgrace relates to one's own
- 18:36family. Whatever the Mighty Eagle did on
- 18:38Eagle Island similarly started the chain
- 18:40of events resulting in the Angry Birds
- 18:42now living on Piggy Island. And I
- 18:44believe what the Mighty Eagle did was
- 18:46not decide to abandon his wife that is
- 18:49still insane to me, but instead, he
- 18:52chose to steal. As inside his cave when
- 18:54first introducing himself to Red and the
- 18:56crew, Mighty Eagle flaunts his
- 18:57collection of trophies he was supposedly
- 19:00awarded for being such a heroic figure.
- 19:02But, taking a closer look at these
- 19:04items, you'll start to notice that none
- 19:06of these items actually belong to him.
- 19:09These trophies weren't awarded to Mighty
- 19:11Eagle for his strength or [music]
- 19:13bravery or anything remotely heroic, but
- 19:16instead thanking him for his
- 19:18participation.
- 19:20And this trophy was just taken from a
- 19:22store display. In fact, every piece of
- 19:25Mighty Eagle merchandise in his cave was
- 19:27stolen, all because they resemble an
- 19:29eagle in some shape or form, as if they
- 19:31were made solely for him, which would
- 19:34explain why these human-shaped clothes
- 19:36are in a cave of an eagle. The Mighty
- 19:38Eagle is quite literally a kleptomaniac.
- 19:41So, if the Mighty Eagle really did steal
- 19:44something from Eagle Island, what could
- 19:46it have possibly been that caused Zeta
- 19:48to hunt him down? Well, what's other
- 19:51item in Angry Birds could be considered
- 19:53the most desirable other than a golden
- 19:56egg?
- 19:58>> [music]
- 19:59>> The golden eggs in Angry Birds were
- 20:01these fun secret collectibles you could
- 20:02unlock, leading to bonus levels for
- 20:04players seeking extra challenge. But, in
- 20:06the lore of this franchise, golden eggs
- 20:08are much more powerful than just some
- 20:10random collectible. We see in the Angry
- 20:13Birds Stella series that golden eggs
- 20:15have the power to turn anything it
- 20:17touches to gold with its distinct side
- 20:19effect of corrupting its host with a
- 20:21strong desire for power. The greed that
- 20:23overwhelms its host is so strong that it
- 20:26led to Stella's former friend Gale
- 20:28risking everything to protect the golden
- 20:30egg whilst ignoring the lava threatening
- 20:32her own life. The Stella series also
- 20:35shows us that these eggs function like
- 20:36ancient artifacts located in concealed
- 20:39areas like in caves or deep underground
- 20:42as if past civilizations attempted to
- 20:44keep them hidden away, preventing any
- 20:46future tyrants from breaking loose. In
- 20:49one of the scrapped storyboards, Zeta
- 20:51and her flock make it to Mighty Eagle's
- 20:52cave whilst Red and the gang attempt to
- 20:54hide. But, in the corner of the room
- 20:56after swiping away a tapestry, we can
- 20:58see a bright glowing egg. This egg, we
- 21:01later find out, was originally hidden
- 21:03deep within Eagle Island's volcano as
- 21:06marked on Mighty Eagle's very own map.
- 21:08This wasn't just some spontaneous idea
- 21:11of his. This was a planned heist from
- 21:13the Mighty Eagle, abandoning his own
- 21:15kind to exploit the golden egg's power
- 21:17after becoming corrupted. And if you
- 21:19think all of this doesn't sound quite
- 21:21too convincing, well, isn't it a bit
- 21:23convenient that the Mighty Eagle has a
- 21:25strange obsession with golden artifacts?
- 21:29>> care about anyone but himself.
- 21:32>> So, what does any of this have to do
- 21:34with the Angry Birds? Finding out about
- 21:36this secret golden egg mystery does make
- 21:38the Mighty Eagle seem pretty shady, but
- 21:41Zeta ends up taking back the egg anyway
- 21:43after scaring off the birds in Mighty
- 21:45Eagle's cave. The remaining storyboards
- 21:47that follow don't really lead us
- 21:48anywhere useful. There is not enough
- 21:51evidence here for me to confidently put
- 21:53together the rest of this timeline.
- 21:54[music] It kind of makes this canceled
- 21:56script detail just a big waste of time.
- 22:02>> [music]
- 22:03>> I
- 22:05postman.
- 22:09>> [music]
- 22:13>> Recently, I picked up a copy of the Art
- 22:15of the Angry Birds Movie. Yes, this is
- 22:17the third book I've now bought just for
- 22:19this video. Please press the like
- 22:20button. With this copy in particular,
- 22:22originally was intended for Pete Oswald,
- 22:25the legit production designer for the
- 22:27film, who is also the guy who designed
- 22:29Bird Island. I'm not quite sure how I
- 22:32managed to get my hands on this book,
- 22:33but regardless, this book goes over a
- 22:35bunch of fun early designs featuring the
- 22:37Angry Birds throughout the film. And
- 22:39whilst these were amusing to look at,
- 22:41there was one early pre-production
- 22:43render from the movies that didn't
- 22:45really fit in with the rest. On one of
- 22:47the other storyboard artist's websites,
- 22:49you can spot a piece of concept art for
- 22:51the second movie which looks like this.
- 22:55Eagle Island flooded with the corpses of
- 22:57dead eagles featuring the same volcano
- 23:00from Mighty Eagle's map that protected
- 23:02the golden egg. This had to have taken
- 23:05place right after the Mighty Eagle and
- 23:06the birds plan to go to Eagle Island for
- 23:09the egg. And it appears that every Eagle
- 23:11might have fought over the golden egg
- 23:12once Zeta brought it back to the island.
- 23:15I mean, with the Mighty Eagle finding
- 23:16its location, why wouldn't every other
- 23:19Eagle want a chance of obtaining that
- 23:20power? But, if that is really what
- 23:22happened,
- 23:24then how did Zeta and her small flock
- 23:26take down the entirety of Eagle Island?
- 23:28In another concept of the Eagles, we see
- 23:31large claw marks nearly wrapping around
- 23:33entire trees. Oh, and I bet you didn't
- 23:35spot Red, Chuck, and Bomb standing on
- 23:37the chest of this defeated Eagle. They
- 23:39are tiny in comparison, but you're
- 23:41probably thinking, "Oh, Brando, this is
- 23:44obviously just exaggerating the size of
- 23:45the Eagles in some sort of character
- 23:48proportion concept art dynamic thing."
- 23:51But, if that was true, then why is the
- 23:54Mighty Eagle not also massive like the
- 23:56other Eagles?
- 23:58Someone clearly didn't win the genetic
- 24:00lottery. And with Zeta and Mighty Eagle
- 24:01supposedly being the same size, this
- 24:04makes it impossible for Zeta to have
- 24:05taken down everyone on Eagle Island. I
- 24:07mean, on paper, sure, she was in
- 24:09possession of the golden egg, which
- 24:11could have maybe given her some sort of
- 24:13strength. But, even that detail falls
- 24:15apart as soon as you remember the
- 24:16storyboards from earlier, which shows
- 24:18Zeta somehow inside of the volcano
- 24:20lacking any idea on how to use the egg's
- 24:22power. So, if Zeta didn't need to use
- 24:25the golden egg to get inside, then Eagle
- 24:28Island didn't need conquering because it
- 24:31was already empty. Zeta could not have
- 24:34been the one to take down the Eagles.
- 24:36The timing alone doesn't make sense. I
- 24:38also don't think this could have been
- 24:39some kind of virus that spread across
- 24:41the whole island like the scourge virus
- 24:43in Invincible. Something about [music]
- 24:45this feels intentional. For the Eagles
- 24:47to end up like this, it would have taken
- 24:49something with power on the level of the
- 24:51golden egg. The kind of strength that
- 24:53can tear through a whole island before
- 24:55anyone realizes. And if you're still
- 24:57unsure who would carry out an
- 24:59island-wide bird genocide,
- 25:01well,
- 25:03I think I know who might.
- 25:05And I know this sounds crazy, seriously.
- 25:07The Mighty Eagle is most definitely a
- 25:09kleptomaniac, but now he's also a serial
- 25:12killer. Trust me,
- 25:14what I'm about to show you is my
- 25:16strongest piece of evidence that I found
- 25:17yet. In the first movie, Red is talking
- 25:19to Bomb and Chuck about the Mighty
- 25:21Eagle. They all have this little moment
- 25:23where they envision what the Mighty
- 25:24Eagle looks like and how cool he is.
- 25:26Obviously, none of this is supposed to
- 25:28be taken seriously. Chuck literally
- 25:30pictures him shaking his ass in a cowboy
- 25:31hat. But, for some reason, when Bomb
- 25:34pictures the Mighty Eagle, I notice
- 25:36something that looked somewhat familiar.
- 25:38Bomb's premonition, instead of being
- 25:39about dancing and signatures, shows off
- 25:42the strength and power of Mighty Eagle
- 25:44in his point of view. Something about
- 25:46this montage just feels off. I mean,
- 25:49doesn't this part when he's up high in
- 25:51the mountains kind of look like the
- 25:53Mighty Eagle is nose-diving into the
- 25:55ground like he's scavenging for
- 25:56something? Like, why else would he go
- 25:59underground here? That's kind of the
- 26:01opposite of what eagles are known for.
- 26:03But, for some reason, this causes the
- 26:05ground to crack and tear apart as the
- 26:07camera pans [music] towards Mighty
- 26:09Eagle's home. Now, this might sound
- 26:11silly, but the cracks that Mighty Eagle
- 26:13caused kind of lead to his own future
- 26:16success, which I think can represent all
- 26:19of the eagles he had to defeat before
- 26:20making it to the golden egg. I'll admit,
- 26:22this seems like a pretty weak
- 26:24connection. I mean, Mighty Eagle's
- 26:26mountain isn't even a volcano. And other
- 26:28than these two photos lining up pretty
- 26:29well, everything else here is just
- 26:31random speculation. However, that was
- 26:34until I watched the rest of this
- 26:35montage.
- 26:40The mountain suddenly erupts like a
- 26:41volcano as Mighty Eagle bursts through
- 26:44from the inside. This is literally him
- 26:47leaving the volcano on Eagle Island with
- 26:49the golden egg. The concept I made for
- 26:51this scene even suggests that its
- 26:53initial impact with the ground
- 26:54devastated the island's wildlife,
- 26:56possibly explaining how Eagle Island was
- 26:58frozen over in the sequel. Volcanoes in
- 27:00real life after a huge eruption release
- 27:02copious amounts of ash and gases into
- 27:04the sky, which blocks sunlight from
- 27:06reaching its island. If the Mighty Eagle
- 27:08destroyed all of Eagle Island's wildlife
- 27:10and caused a massive eruption dropping
- 27:12its temperature, this could explain how
- 27:14it turned into this frozen seal-infested
- 27:17iceberg of an island.
- 27:19>> Silver even confirms that the volcano in
- 27:21Eagle Island is a composite volcano.
- 27:23>> Actually, it's a composite volcano.
- 27:25>> An extremely dangerous variation that
- 27:27produces far more pollutants into the
- 27:29atmosphere.
- 27:31This is a lot of information to digest,
- 27:34and I'm sure I've already lost a few of
- 27:36you with this theory. I mean, why does
- 27:38Eagle Island being frozen cause him to
- 27:41move to Bird Island? What evidence do I
- 27:43have to prove Mighty Eagle even knew
- 27:45Bird Island existed? The thing is, I
- 27:48haven't been telling you the exact
- 27:50truth. In the deleted storyboard for the
- 27:53second movie called The Heist, Mighty
- 27:54Eagle initially pulled out a map that
- 27:56doesn't seem to resemble Eagle Island.
- 27:58He begins revealing information on where
- 28:00the residents of this island sleep,
- 28:03where they eat, train, and where they
- 28:05keep their valuable.
- 28:07Is
- 28:08Is this the Mighty Eagle's mountain?
- 28:10And that looks like Red's house. How did
- 28:14the Mighty Eagle
- 28:17He knew about Bird Island all along.
- 28:20Just like stealing the golden egg, this
- 28:22was all a part of Mighty Eagle's plan.
- 28:24Red and Bomb literally spot their own
- 28:26houses on the map before Mighty Eagle
- 28:28throws it away with a guilty grin on his
- 28:30face. So, the Mighty Eagle stole the
- 28:34golden egg, which caused the volcano to
- 28:35violently explode, leading to him taking
- 28:37out every other eagle as a result of the
- 28:39golden egg's brainwashing, and
- 28:41abandoning their corpses to rot on the
- 28:42island's remains, causing it to turn
- 28:44into a frozen wasteland as the Mighty
- 28:46Eagle flees to Bird Island, claiming the
- 28:48mountain as his new home, continuing his
- 28:51obsession with golden objects and
- 28:52stealing artifacts, whilst the birds
- 28:54down below for some reason treat him as
- 28:57their hero.
- 28:58Just one small problem with this whole
- 29:02Mighty Eagle egg theory. How did Bomb
- 29:05actually see this? Remember, this is
- 29:08just what Bomb sees when Red brought up
- 29:10the Mighty Eagle. No one else thought of
- 29:13this. It's not like Bomb was there on
- 29:15Eagle Island to witness the egg being
- 29:17stolen. So, what gives? Is this just one
- 29:21big coincidence that Bomb magically
- 29:22thought up? No.
- 29:24Um, I actually think it's the opposite.
- 29:27Earlier in the video, I brought up Red's
- 29:29backstory for when he got picked on, but
- 29:31if we look at this scene more closely,
- 29:33we can see Red and the other hatchlings
- 29:34are actually being taught about the
- 29:36Mighty Eagle. Assuming Red and Bomb are
- 29:38around the same age, it would mean that
- 29:40Bomb was taught about the Mighty Eagle
- 29:41growing up, too, which would probably
- 29:43explain why Bomb doesn't see the volcano
- 29:45from Eagle Island in his daydream. Since
- 29:47he spent his whole life on an island
- 29:49that doesn't feature a volcano. In fact,
- 29:51all of these birds have no idea what
- 29:53exists beyond Bird Island.
- 29:55>> There's no other place besides here.
- 29:57>> Therefore, Mighty Eagle, after arriving,
- 30:00must have told Bird Island he saved them
- 30:02from a great war, which we now know is a
- 30:04lie, making Mighty Eagle Bird Island's
- 30:07new hero. Except that doesn't make any
- 30:11sense. Take a listen to what the teacher
- 30:13is saying here about the Mighty Eagle.
- 30:15>> This is the legendary Mighty Eagle, but
- 30:19no one has seen him for years.
- 30:21>> The Mighty Eagle, according to the
- 30:23teacher, hasn't been seen in years, even
- 30:26referring to him as missing.
- 30:28>> Mighty Eagle is missing.
- 30:30>> Bird Island must have at least spoken to
- 30:32Mighty Eagle, otherwise how would they
- 30:34know about the war he fought in? Like,
- 30:37they made a whole statue in his image.
- 30:39That doesn't just randomly happen. Did
- 30:40they just not look when he went back up
- 30:42to his mountain? The way the teacher is
- 30:44talking about the Mighty Eagle is as if
- 30:47he's some urban legend or myth on Bird
- 30:49Island. But, unlike Bigfoot or the Loch
- 30:52Ness Monster, the Mighty Eagle isn't
- 30:54scary. He can actually be seen all over
- 30:57the island in the form of comics,
- 30:58posters, toys, and even representing the
- 31:01police station. But, despite that,
- 31:03everyone on Bird Island is acting like
- 31:05he's some mythical creature as a fun
- 31:07story to tell the hatchlings. Hell, even
- 31:09the kids don't believe that the Mighty
- 31:11Eagle is real.
- 31:12>> Didn't your parents ever tell you Mighty
- 31:13Eagle isn't real?
- 31:14>> They're talking about him like he's the
- 31:16Easter Bunny or something. And it's not
- 31:18just the kids who think this. When the
- 31:20Mighty Eagle reveals himself at the end
- 31:21of the movie, every single bird was
- 31:23shocked to see he even exists.
- 31:26>> Do you see what I'm seeing? This guy
- 31:28looks nothing like his statue.
- 31:30>> So, how do the birds know about the
- 31:33Mighty Eagle war despite never actually
- 31:36seeing him? I think it's because the
- 31:38birds genuinely haven't seen the Mighty
- 31:40Eagle. During the high story board, Red
- 31:42can be seen attempting to cheer up the
- 31:44flock after Zeta stole the golden egg
- 31:46back by saying, "We've survived this
- 31:48long. We are not going to let our
- 31:50parents sacrifice go to waste." That's
- 31:53funny. Um I thought the Mighty Eagle was
- 31:56Bird Island's hero. I mean, sure, I
- 31:58suppose there could have been a few
- 31:59casualties in
- 32:01this war.
- 32:03Wait a minute. I thought this war was a
- 32:05lie to cover up the Mighty Eagle wiping
- 32:08out Eagle Island and make the birds
- 32:10believe he's the hero. What Was there a
- 32:13real war which these birds fought in?
- 32:16What war could this have even been? We
- 32:18already know that the pigs haven't
- 32:19visited Bird Island yet. So, who would
- 32:22have tried to attack them? And why is
- 32:24Red talking about their parents'
- 32:26sacrifice just after the golden egg was
- 32:28stolen? What do his parents have to do
- 32:29with the golden egg? It's not as if they
- 32:31could have seen it. It was hidden away
- 32:33on Eagle Island before the Mighty Eagle
- 32:34stole it and went to
- 32:37Bird Island.
- 32:39You don't think
- 32:41No.
- 32:42Mighty Eagle wasn't protecting the birds
- 32:44in a war. He was taking them out just
- 32:47like the eagles back on Eagle Island.
- 32:49Mighty Eagle was taking out his entire
- 32:52bird family.
- 32:54The only reasonable explanation in why
- 32:57he'd do this is the golden egg
- 32:58brainwashing him into believing the
- 33:00birds were a threat to the egg's safety.
- 33:02How else would Bird Island react to a
- 33:04huge eagle appearing on the island for
- 33:06the first time? Both Gail and Dahlia in
- 33:09the Angry Birds Stella series turned
- 33:10against their own kind once coming into
- 33:12contact with the golden egg. With Gail
- 33:14attempting to leave Stella trapped in
- 33:15rising lava and Dahlia straight up
- 33:17attacking Stella for taking away the egg
- 33:19from her. So it would make sense that
- 33:21Mighty Eagle would do anything in his
- 33:23power to stop the birds from taking it
- 33:24away from him. But of course, we know
- 33:26that Bird Island didn't go extinct,
- 33:29which only means that he must have
- 33:30spared the unhatched eggs. Not out of
- 33:33remorse, but so he could easily
- 33:35manipulate them into [music] believing
- 33:36he's their protector, teaching them what
- 33:38he did back on Eagle Island was some
- 33:39heroic gesture. Your parents sacrificed
- 33:42were for a good cause. Remember what
- 33:43your parents sacrificed. I am your
- 33:45defender. I saved you. Mighty Eagle even
- 33:48references the song he taught the
- 33:50hatchlings to remember what he did for
- 33:52them.
- 33:53>> You must have grown up singing this song
- 33:55in school.
- 33:58>> Yeah.
- 33:59>> Do it.
- 34:00>> Yeah, do it.
- 34:02>> Wow, you know it better than me.
- 34:05>> Why else would the Mighty Eagle be
- 34:06surprised here that the birds know the
- 34:08song better than him if he didn't create
- 34:11it? Well, by pure coincidence, at the
- 34:14end of the film when thanking Red for
- 34:16saving their island, the hatchlings sing
- 34:18the exact same song.
- 34:20>> Mighty, mighty, Red, you rescued me.
- 34:24>> Defender of our homes and liberty.
- 34:28>> The same song their parents sang when
- 34:31they were spared by the mighty eagle
- 34:32many years ago. I am aware that this is
- 34:35a very bold claim to make. Seriously, if
- 34:38mighty eagle did somehow take out the
- 34:40birds, then where are all of the birds
- 34:43bodies? Were they just abandoned like
- 34:45the eagles? The mighty eagle couldn't
- 34:47just leave the corpses of the ex-parents
- 34:49behind. It would ruin his whole plan.
- 34:52He'd have to stash them somewhere out of
- 34:53sight where no future bird could ever
- 34:55reach. Hidden amongst other poached
- 34:57belongings in his very own cave. And
- 35:00whilst we don't unfortunately get to see
- 35:02these bodies in the movie, in the
- 35:04movie's art book, there appears to be a
- 35:06pull-out tab which depicts some kind of
- 35:08scene plan for the events of the movie.
- 35:11And by taking a closer look at the
- 35:12scenes where Red meets the mighty eagle
- 35:14for the first time, we can see a
- 35:16cutscene depicting bird skulls left in
- 35:18the mighty eagle's cave. That's why no
- 35:21one remembers mighty eagle. That's also
- 35:24why no one remembers this great war. And
- 35:26that's why Bomb saw what happened on
- 35:28Eagle Island. So, how does any of this
- 35:31tie into the Angry Birds future? Sure,
- 35:33the mighty eagle turned out to be the
- 35:35mighty hoax, but this doesn't seem to
- 35:37have any correlation to Piggy Island at
- 35:40all. Come to think of it, I don't think
- 35:42I've brought up the pigs once in this
- 35:43entire theory.
- 35:46Except, that's not exactly true.
- 35:54In the Eagle Island concept art, it
- 35:56turns out Leonard also chose to go with
- 35:59the Angry Birds to get the golden egg.
- 36:01Leonard seriously shouldn't be here,
- 36:03especially when he has no relationship
- 36:05with the mighty eagle whatsoever. If
- 36:07anything, he should be afraid of
- 36:08stepping foot on Eagle Island after what
- 36:10Zeta did to his own kingdom. He is quite
- 36:12literally an enemy to all the birds.
- 36:15But, being King Pig of Piggy Island,
- 36:18i.e. the only person who is allowed to
- 36:20eat eggs, it would make sense that he
- 36:23would want to see this golden egg for
- 36:24himself. Red also admits in the heist
- 36:27storyboard that they'd struggle without
- 36:29somebody with a history of poaching eggs
- 36:31who could stand a chance against Zeta's
- 36:32army. So, what if Leonard only chose to
- 36:35go along in another attempt to betray
- 36:37Red and the flock by stealing this
- 36:39golden egg for himself? And in some
- 36:41end-of-movie comic justice cliché,
- 36:44Leonard tries running off with the egg
- 36:45in a fit of excitement only for Zeta to
- 36:47keep up with him and fulfill his fate
- 36:49promised to him at the start of the
- 36:51movie. If this was actually how the
- 36:53second movie was supposed to end, that
- 36:55would mean Leonard's son Smooth Cheeks
- 36:56inherited the throne, which would make
- 36:58perfect sense as to why Smooth Cheeks
- 37:00acts so immature as Piggy Island's new
- 37:02monarch because he's literally still a
- 37:04child. In the toon series, there are
- 37:06countless examples of Smooth Cheeks
- 37:08acting childish or how a kid would,
- 37:10outright proving something drastic must
- 37:12have happened to Leonard for Smooth
- 37:14Cheeks to become the new king so soon.
- 37:16But unlike his father, Smooth Cheeks
- 37:18doesn't care about golden artifacts or
- 37:20the birds. His only goal being the new
- 37:22king is to follow tradition and eat
- 37:25>> [music]
- 37:25>> an egg. The guidebook is obsessed with
- 37:27telling us this exact fact, going on to
- 37:29say Smooth Cheeks hasn't actually eaten
- 37:31an egg in his lifetime. Out of the 10
- 37:33things to know about the bad piggies,
- 37:35seven of them are about Smooth Cheeks
- 37:37not eating eggs and how important they
- 37:39are to pig society. Smooth Cheeks is
- 37:41fully aware if he doesn't get his hands
- 37:43on an egg, he'll be forced from the
- 37:45throne for breaking their code. But what
- 37:47is he to do after seeing his father's
- 37:49failure in capturing the eggs? The birds
- 37:51now know their true intention. There's
- 37:53nothing left for King Pig to do to get
- 37:55these eggs. Unless he could make the
- 37:58eggs come to him. What if there was a
- 38:02way for the birds to walk right up to
- 38:04his front door, eggs in hand, without
- 38:06the need for an elaborate plan? You
- 38:08might be saying,
- 38:09"That's just impossible." What could
- 38:11Smooth Cheeks possibly have said to
- 38:13convince the birds to go along with that
- 38:15idea? It's simple, really. Just like his
- 38:18father before him, he'll just blow up
- 38:20Bird Island all over again, but this
- 38:23time for good. Where are the birds left
- 38:26to go other than his very own island? Of
- 38:28course, maybe a few birds get captured
- 38:30in the crossfire, but why would
- 38:31SmoothCheeks care? It's not like he
- 38:33would know birds lay the one thing he
- 38:35supposedly desires. SmoothCheeks is
- 38:37literally proven to be the least
- 38:38intelligent pig in all of pig society.
- 38:41Hell, even Mudbeard wasn't aware that
- 38:43these birds were infinite egg-laying
- 38:44machines.
- 38:45>> Is that what I think it is?
- 38:47>> That's how our children are born. You
- 38:49guys don't like egg?
- 38:50>> I wish we did.
- 38:53>> And in SmoothCheeks' poor attempt of
- 38:54capturing the eggs with their endless
- 38:56supply of TNT, Bird Island and its
- 38:58occupants were completely wiped out.
- 39:00Apart from the three eggs Red and the
- 39:02surviving flock managed to save. Bird
- 39:04Island being left in the same state as
- 39:06Eagle Island leaves only one place for
- 39:08these remaining eggs to survive. After
- 39:11all, they're the future and all that
- 39:14matters.
- 39:18Oh, and as for Zeta, I'm honestly not
- 39:20too sure what could have happened to
- 39:21her. Considering that Mighty Eagle's
- 39:22regretful from his past, I would assume
- 39:24this means that he broke free from the
- 39:26golden egg curse controlling him, which
- 39:27is exactly what happened to Gale in
- 39:29Angry Birds Stella.
- 39:33>> [screaming]
- 39:35>> We can even see as soon as he returns
- 39:37Eagle Island for the egg, he is
- 39:38completely shell-shocked after realizing
- 39:40what he did to all of his friends and
- 39:42family, which potentially changed his
- 39:44mind in wanting to steal the egg back
- 39:45again from Zeta. Zeta probably now
- 39:48remains alone on Eagle Island's ruins,
- 39:50reunited with the golden egg for the
- 39:52better or for the worse. But, what
- 39:56happens now? I mean, sure, whilst we may
- 39:58have solved what led up to the birds
- 39:59being trapped on Piggy Island, this
- 40:01doesn't necessarily answer what their
- 40:03future looks like. The Angry Birds' new
- 40:05life on Piggy Island appears to resemble
- 40:07some kind of twisted game of cat and
- 40:09mouse with them fighting against the
- 40:11brink of extinction thanks to
- 40:13SmoothCheeks continuously attempting to
- 40:15poach the last three eggs in their
- 40:16species existence. Chuck on Piggy Island
- 40:19even attempts to go on a date with
- 40:21himself, since all of the other female
- 40:24birds were taken out on Bird Island. And
- 40:26in a separate episode of the Toons,
- 40:28Chuck can be seen practicing martial
- 40:30arts trying to impress a boulder. There
- 40:33is literally nobody left for these birds
- 40:36to build a community with. And if you
- 40:38still somehow don't believe that these
- 40:40birds are going extinct, during the
- 40:42trailer to Angry Birds Rio, we can see
- 40:45the birds protecting the eggs before
- 40:47being kidnapped and smuggled off to
- 40:49Brazil. Now, if you know anything about
- 40:52the movie Rio, you'll remember the plot
- 40:54focusing on Blu attempting to rescue all
- 40:56of the exotic and rare birds being sold
- 40:58on the black market, which would make
- 41:00sense why Nigel chose to trap the Angry
- 41:02Birds due to their species becoming so
- 41:04rare. And whilst this might sound like a
- 41:06stretch for what appears to be just some
- 41:08marketing stunt between two bird
- 41:10franchises, Nigel himself in the trailer
- 41:14proves this theory by revealing a wanted
- 41:16poster labeling the Angry Birds as an
- 41:18endangered species. These birds are
- 41:21literally all that's left on this island
- 41:24in the fight against the pigs to protect
- 41:26their kind. So, with all the egg hunting
- 41:28torment from King Smooth Cheeks, how is
- 41:30the flock supposed to compete with a
- 41:32kingdom of pigs? Well, these repeated
- 41:35poaching attempts seem to have led
- 41:37Smooth Cheeks to the same fate as his
- 41:38father. As in the note he left in the
- 41:40guidebook, Smooth Cheeks points out a
- 41:42tin of sardines landing in front of him
- 41:44followed by a scream of agony. And by
- 41:47closing the book entirely and turning it
- 41:49over, we get a pretty good idea of how
- 41:51this Angry Birds story ends. With the
- 41:53Mighty Eagle confirming what he did as
- 41:56one last act of revenge. And that is the
- 41:59Angry Birds extinction theory.
- 42:03Or the Angry Birds is right all along.
- 42:06Isn't that right, Angry Birds Space?
- 42:10Yep.
